thread: what is a recent creative project that you are proud of?

ooh wait i love this question! i got asked to be in a short film a couple months ago & that was so cool & fun! my friend is a film major & she was doing this whole project for a film festival my town was having (which was actually so cool & way bigger than i thought—like daveed diggs & cord jefferson came to do talks it was insane). and we had like kind of a hefty crew (like 11ish people in total) & it got submitted & screened at this arts festival which was so incredibly cool!!! and i just really loved the whole process of getting to film & actually seeing what that was like & yeah!

candle: what is something you can’t go to bed without?

WHITE. NOISE. specifically the sound of my fan, or, in the winter (cause i didn’t wanna have my fan running all night when it was cold akfjak) i actually got this like white noise machine that has all these different noise settings & options and the brown noise is my absolute fav!!!! it has like white noise, pink noise, and brown noise, which i didn’t even know were things but they ARE and the brown noise is the best i literally have it going every single night, i love it.

In honor of yesterday being Good Friday and Easter being on Sunday, let me tell you about my current hyperfixation: Tim O’Horgans, original Broadway production of Jesus Christ Superstar.

This version is notoriously hated by Andrew Lloyd Webber- opening night being described as “the worst night of his life” but that’s only because even as a young man he was clearly a curmudgeon who hated fun.

This production is campy, it’s busy, and its clear it relies a lot on the spectacle pillar of theatre, but I love it nonetheless. my favorite version of JSC is the OBC recording consisting of: Jeff Fenholt as Jesus, Ben Vereen as Judas, Yvonne Elimen as Mary, Barry Dennin as Pilot, Bob Bingham as Caiaphus and Paul Ainsley as Herod. Some of the names you’ll recognize reprises their role for the 1973 movie.

I’m gonna tell you a few my of favorite fun facts/ things I noticed based on images and what I’ve read in Nassirs Rock Opera. Without further ado:

Overture: There are many descriptions of the overture, and they're very wild and I have no idea how to verbalize it. But I can tell you that Jesus rode in on a golden chalice with this opulent cape on lol.

Heaven on Their Minds: These are images of Judas and his tormentors. Now, Judas is usually played by a very strong actor, so a visual representation of what he’s going through isn’t really necessary, but I love the concept. They’re these hooded, shadow figures who follow him around and push him about on the stage. They chronically torment him and he fights them throughout the show until it’s time for his death where they lifthim up so he can get the rope to hang himself.

This Jesus Must Die: this one gets me really excited. So the High Priests are on this brige that’s meant to look like dinosaur fossils; and have you seen their costumes?? Like I have so many questions, this is such an interesting take. They keep their elaborate head pieces in the 1973 film, and they also give them a scaffold as a lair, but their costumes/set is so campy here. Really giving off Disney villain. Their part in the show received a lot of criticism because they’re portrayed kinda smarmy, and slinking in the shadows; the portrayal was deemed anti-semantic.

In the 1973 movie, they added the song “Then We are Decided,” between Caiaphus and Anna’s to portray a more human side to the Sanhedrin. That song is never performed, so you can imagine how well that went.

Hosanna

This is probably my least favorite song in the whole album but visually? I have no idea what's going on in this picture, but I love it. So it's a processional and the priests are watching from their lair. Apparently the props are supposed to look like microbes, and I know there was an insane thought process behind this, it's giving protozoa, amoeba realness. Like someone is carrying a giant set of dentures, can you find them?

I Don’t Know How to Love Him:

She's so cute, I love her. This song was apparently one of the biggest applause of number, justifiably. I think one of the biggest complaints with this production as a whole, was the use of the gaudy mics. They're interesting. You can watch her performance at the tony's too.

Gethsemane: Apparently, Gethsemane was one of the biggest flops of the night, such a flop that people were laughing lol. It was staged with Jeff Fenholt, alone, center stage. There was this thing that dropped down behind him, O'Horgan dubbed 'The Universe Box'. It was suppose to look like Jesus was singing this song at the precipice of the universe with a galaxy of stars around him. In Rock Opera, Nassir refers to it as 'O'Horgans oversized toy', and there were several things that compared it to decorative boxes and toys from the 80's. I tried really hard to visualize this, because the concept of it sounds super cool. Instead, it looked silly to viewers and apparently Jeff Fenholt (who sings my favorite rendition of Gethsemane) didn't have the acting chops to pull away from the failure of the concept. YOU! DO! NOT! UNDERSTAND! THE! ANGST! I WENT! THROUGH! TO! GET! AN! IMAGE! OF !! THIS!!! DAMMED!!!!! BOX!!!!

Okay, I have to agree, it does look... strange and I would not have guessed it was supposed to represent the universe.

Pilate and Christ:

There was this really cool set piece that acted as the door to Pilates palace, it was ceasers head, and when the doors opened, it would expand to reveal 6 more eyes and pilate would sashay out lol.

King Herod

This number also got a lot of applause, it was definitely comedic relief, as Herod is often used for. Apparently he was wheeled in inside a giant, green dragons head and it opened to reveal him sitting in like a shell type thing. I'm still trying to find pictures of this prop- after finding the universe box, I am determined! He was in full drag with nails, the dress, the headdress and those fabulous platforms. Those platforms slay, btw.

Apparently there were a lot of high kicks and they did the Charleston lol.

Could We Start Again Please

There was some criticism about this songs placement in the show.This number was said to be not memorable at all because people were still reeling from the show Herod put on I think it's placed perfectly, because it kinda brings you back to the gravity of the situation. Had this song been placed before Herods Song, right after this Judas would hang himself. That's just too much too soon if you ask me. This provided a nice buffer, to settle down and get ready for the angst to come

Judas Death: Here are images of Judas' tormentors helping him take his life.

Trial With Pilate: Apparently this number flopped too. People said it was too long and the positioning of Dennen's mic caused him issues as his voice would cut in and out when he moved. Also, I have no idea what to make of the Roman guards costumes

Superstar: aaah,, the titular song. This was another stand out and y'all, If you thought Carl Andersons white fringe was extra? Any Judas getting bedazzled, wearing sparkles or glam during this song??? Yeah, none of that holds a Candle to Ben Vereen fucking coming out and performing this song in a gold thong. I can't make this shit up.

Now, I think this part is pretty cool. Jesus rises out of the ground wearing what's been dubbed 'the chrysalis'. It starts out thin, but each ensemble member grabs a pillar and spread the cape out across the stage. Judas sing this song on a butterfly set piece behind him. Okay metaphor 😩

For the opulence that was displayed throughout the entire show, the crucification was rather simple; he's simply stripped out of the 'chrysalis ' and put on a triangle.

Pls. Anyway. I love this show and we need a revival of this exact production! I'll wait until ALW expires and then find a producer lmfao 😌 There are a few updates that need to be made, but it is absolutely possible with todays technology?? Image updated gethsemane?? Tom O'Horgan your mind, sir!!!! Anyway. I love this production.

✨ hello talk abt inside job please i binged the first 8 episodes today which is actually v impressive for me which is to say. i am enjoying it

i have no clue where to start, there is so much to say!!! well, first off i’m glad to hear that you started it and are enjoying it so far! that’s good pacing too, i think, iirc rey and i watched part 1 in one day and part 2 the next? i could be wrong but it is a fairly short watch so it shouldn’t take too long though it SHOULD be longer! sucks ass that netflix cancelled it, the show is/was successful? sure it’s not as "big" as smth like stranger things but you’re not giving it the chance!!!!!!! i’ve heard rumors about adult swim potentially picking it up so it can be renewed for a s2 and with the panel that’s supposed to happen this week(?) for upcoming hbo max and adult swim projects and announcements i am HOPING for smth inside job and/or infinity train related!!!!!!! a girl can DREAM OOGGHHH inside job fr is so good, it’s so different from your typical adult animation? it’s NOTHING like s*uth park or f*mily guy (censoring so this doesn’t end up in the tags LOL) whereas it doesn’t rely on "shock value" or gross shit which i appreciate and the references to pop culture on top of other things? god SO GOOD it’s literally the reason rey and i watched akira too AND I’M SO GLAD WE DID I ENJOYED THAT MOVIE AS WELL i love the balance between humor and serious topics too? i won’t spoiled much since you haven’t gotten to those episodes yet but inside reagan and appleton are genuinely so well written imo (even if i have personal gripes but they don’t at all affect the overall perception of the episode(s)!)

the characters too omg. there are very minimal characters i can point to and say i genuinely hate them. glenn might be an obvious one and a couple others but i don’t want to sound like a hater LOL my point is i LOVE the cast the characters are generally so well written? reagan is some of the best autism rep i’ve seen ANYWHERE i just really wish they didn’t refer to her with aspergers. brett too obviously i am him fr fr fr but he’s generally so relatable even rey has said before they relate to some of his traits. i love how he’s so open about his (social) anxiety yet isn’t portrayed in the stereotypical "shy introvert" way. gigi i feel like she’s so underrated she deserves more love 😭 i wish we knew more about her too? again i won’t spoil but idr them really going into her deeper as a character or anything. andre and myc are both so funny too. i LOVE myc’s comebacks and i also love how they managed to make him so expressive without actually having a face? fun fact i only recently learned he shared an actor with murray stranger things but after that it ALL made sense i kept trying to figure out why his voice sounded familiar. oh and reagan’s va is janis mean girls! and rand is jd heathers. crazy how that happens! what a small world. anyways this was way longer than i thought it would be even after saying "idk where to start" LOL ofc if you ever want to know my opinion on anything and/or just talk more just let me know!!!! my inbox / dms are always open for you <3 thank you so much !!!!!!

6. What's something you have in common with this character?

Hmm.... hard to say since Sho is just. completely batshit. I guess the easiest and most obvious answer would be that we're both artists and like to find beauty in aesthetically strange things. But I dont think i have a single thing in common with him personality wise LOL

20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?

I think susukichi and sho have extremely similar temperaments + quirks and if they weren't on opposite sides of The Conflict they'd get along great. I said once before that Susukichi would be the Sho Minamimoto of NEO if sho literally wasn't also already in the game. Their vibes are super similar and they both want to have a fun time.

23. Favorite picture of this character?

This one marketing image from when the anime was airing is the funniest thing in the world to me. like. why the fuck is sho even here. he is in no way buddies with anyone in the hachiko gang (during this specific timeframe anyways) there is literally NO logical reason for him to be posed alongside this specific group of characters here. This image from sho's pov is just him + guy hes actively trying to kill + guy he's stalking only bc he's joined at the hip with the guy he's trying to kill + guy he met twice and beat the shit out of one of those times + 2 people he's never met or interacted with before ever. On a marketing level its clear they just wanted to include him with the main characters simply bc hes a super popular character among fans but it's makes for the most unintentionally hilarious image ever.

Shiba

1. Why do you like or dislike this character?

First. he's extremely funny and dresses like a harlot. Second THE LAYERSSSS Shiba's primary motivation is like a puzzle that the narrative gives you all the pieces to and then invites you to solve. Not in that the game doesn't tell you what it is At All, it says as much that he's on a powertrip towards ascension, but it's difficult to wrap your head around Why until you deliberately examine and unravel each of his relationships with the other shinjuku reapers: how they affected him, what their side of the story is, why they're emotionally estranged but still sticking together, etc. I enjoy that you have to take the time to put it together yourself, but also the full picture you get once that puzzle is complete is one that i enjoy immensely. The fact that the core of shiba's plight is rooted in his relationships (or lack thereof) is very true to the spirit of twewy and I greatly appreciate that they applied all this to the game's main villain AND gave him a chance for redemption on top of it. His final scene is one of my favourites in the game and really sticks with me.

7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?

The memes. Shiba's so easy to meme on its great. I have a folder of shiba memes on my desktop whenever i see a new shitpost or edit i Have to save it. im glad he gets clowned on so hard. Shi Basuks Cok lives in my head rent free. I wish shiba's va did small comms like I've seen other voice actors do sometimes bc i would pay him money to hear him voice act that post as Shiba for real. But i can dream

8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

I know i like Just finished talking abt how much i love the shiba memes but i also dislike how Majority of what i see of shiba is Just the memes and jokes. I wouldn't go as far as say i despise them at all (or i wouldn't have a folder of shiba memes) but I think its disappointing that i hardly see anyone actually take him seriously as a character or give him any consideration for analysis. Or not as much as I'd like to see, anyways (when i do see it it fucks hard though.) I also get the impression sometimes that some people take delight in the memes + clowning on shiba specifically bc they think he's just Not well written or interesting which bums me out a little.

to add to what u said, I also think that many people with 9-5s and other more secure jobs dream of pursing more artistic jobs because they're more fulfilling for ur soul than a 9 to 5 but they can't take that leap because there's no guarantee an artistic career like acting, modelling, singing etc will work out and they can't afford to fail and have no job. repo babies don't need an income so they're free to take whatever leap because if they fail it doesn't matter

yeah definitely anon i get u!!! i remember in high school wanting to be an artist, and just being very upset with the fact i would have to pick a “real job” bc the arts tends to only be a financially secure job for the already rich and famous. i have a feeling if my parents were loaded rich, art would’ve been seen as something i would not need to be 100% able to monetize in order to have as a career, but rather a hobby i can go to school for just for fun.

essentially career in the arts was made w rich kids access in mind. i took up chemistry this semester bc of that. i was so desperate to have a “real job” only to realize i wasn’t prepared for the math. i tried to force myself to like chem, but i’m doing psychology next semester. literally if i was some sort of nepo baby, i could just quit college and not at all feel guilty abt the thousands in student loans my parents are helping pay. like, you know those rich kid youtubers who are financially well off and say college is useless when many of us don’t have the luxury of leaving w/o negotiating a career change or adjustments to continue it?????

literally if i’d been born to some famous supermodel or big name director/actor that would not cross my mind, i would never have felt inferior and guilty abt “wasting” money if my parents had an abundance to begin w and college wasn’t a necessity for me, but rather an option. i could’ve just as easily moved to la or something and my last name getting me jobs or whatever. that seems like an incredible privilege only nepo babies have yk????? normal ppl don’t get that, most of us have to be “realistic” and actor/model isn’t the first thing that pops into our heads, it’s usually a dream bc nepo babies just have that handed to them and those traveling expenses for shoots/scouting/flights cost money.

i also have a friend who’s a film major, and expressed to me how hard it is breaking into that industry and how she has marketing as a backup. literally so many of my friends who are arts majors also have some sort of major determined to be a little more secure as a back up, bc the prospect of their primary concentration not securing them a job will always be an issue. whereas nepo babies can walk into auditions and shoots and immediately land jobs, having no worry abt the travel expenses these entail unlike most actors/modes/etc who usually need backups.

Bridgerton Season 2 Thoughts

- it could have been so much better

- the chemistry and acting between Kate and Anthony was definitely good. in fact it is literally the saving grace of the show because the writing isn’t doing it any favours. honestly at times it did not feel like they were the leads.

- during Kate and Anthony scenes, I was only looking at Simone. She was amazing!!😍

- their first meeting, pall mall, bee sting scene and that dance during episode 4 were literally the best parts of the first five episodes.

- so many of their scenes needed to be longer. the hunting scene with them closing their eye- that should have been much longer. same with the library scene- it was wayyyyy to short. they should have been allowed time to bond. the scene where anthony comes out of the lake. tbh the shot should have lingered. it lasts like 3 seconds.

- did anyone else feel like the editing rushed everything?? like they had so much subplot every single scene felt like it was trying to go as fast as possible so we could get to the next one and fit everything in. even that scene abt honour, the way it was filmed or edited felt very jarring. (maybe that was the point but it did not work for me).

- this show starts out too slow. honestly everything went uphill after the almost wedding scene. the story picked up after that and it was the first time I felt any real excitement.

- it definitely felt like people had different visions for this season. it starts out as enemies to lovers, then this love triangle then this forbidden love thing and frankly it did not work. it was too rushed.

- the changes they made to Kates family’s backstory really shafted the relationship between the Sharmas. it was done for Kate to parallel Anthony’s character and I’m annoyed we didn’t get to see enough interactions with these three desi woman. Mary should have been in this more.

- Kate going back to India made zero sense. like was she just going to leave her entire family in England and be alone?? And Mary and Edwina were just ok with it??

- Kate and Anthony needed more scenes bonding and having fun like pall mall. like they needed to build up that emotional bond and intimacy more. bc all of that yearning and pining?? i did not believe it at all. and the actors were giving it their all, but there is so much going on in the background that it almost gets lost.

- I’m going to pretend that I never said anything bad about book!edwina. Edwina in the show felt like a lamb being sent to the slaughter. they made her way to naive which really took a lot of depth away from her.

- they should have atleast let Kate and Anthony have sex dreams abt each other. i mean they were already emotionally cheating. might as well make it worth the audiences time.

- the scene with violet and anthony flashbacks were honestly so good and tragic. one of my favourite parts. violet giving birth is probs one of the most emotional moments. the fact that the choice is between HER life and HER child and the doc is just ignoring her bc she’s a woman. and instead asking Anthony (poor guy). I mean imagine that.

- it really pisses me off we don’t get Sharma family flashbacks. Kates trauma is completely ignored. it would have given her and the Sharma family more depth.

- frankly this show tries to way too hard on the pining and the whole duty vs honour thing. which really made it a slog bc frankly K and A were just making a lot of dumb choices. plus Anthony choosing Kate meant he gets to do his duty + follow his heart.

- the most relatable moment was when benedict asked Anthony if he would shut up about ‘duty’

- this show was cowardly - they should have had K and A marry despite the scandal (would have driven home the whole duty be heart thing). instead they had the Queen okay it so the rest of the ton fell in line 🙄.

- the less said about the india storyline the better. the only positive was that they didn’t say that love solved colonialism.

- the show really though it did something when it revealed Kates indian name 🙄. I would not be suprised if they patted themselves on the backs after coming up with that. They couldn’t even pronounce Sharma correctly.

- the playful bantering and teasing is where JB and SA chemistry got to shine. I am annoyed we didn’t see more of that. Bc I didn’t feel like K and A even enjoyed each other’s company until then.

- overall the season felt lacklustre- bogged down by side plots and that angst. tbh that love triangle didn’t do it any favours either.

- I do not care how accurate book to screen adaptions are. I do not expect them to be. but the chemistry between the two was more suited to for the playful friends-with-benefits marriage thing the book version had.

- seriously this show should have had more scenes with them being playful together. I cannot stress this enough

- I will watch S3 purely for the married Kanthony scene bc they that was the superior dynamic.

people who don't like c!dream have said these things about c!dream enthusiasts in the survey (enthusiasts being apologists, sympathizers, and enjoyers, they didn't use these terms but it was easy to sort either way). picked up some rough stats and intriguing responses based on reading every single entry on the sheet.

that three percent interestingly enough seems to display a rather large bias.“He was always a villain … claiming that characters like Wilbur and Tommy made him a villain … It's these people I can't stand.” "the second you say he's misunderstood or the real victim or that wilbur...is the real manipulator..." this is very biased and not based on objective evidence. c!wil's not ‘the real manipulator’ whatever that is, but he did manipulate c!dream into becoming a villain, (courtesy of cc!wilbur being a genius writer and actor) setting the trend for how c!dream would act later on. another person said. "people who excuse his actions or try to say that the others ‘turned him into’ a villain are where it crosses a line." there is evidence c!dream was in fact turned into a villain. he was a misunderstood good guy shifting towards morally grey up until the 16th when he snapped full villain mode. this fall from grace was in no way his own choice, and he was villainized for long beforehand. 

it is interesting to me that people deny proof because they feel such strong negative emotion against this character. "i respect their opinions as long as they dont sympathize w him or think he's morally correct." is another one of the clear anti-sympathizer anti-apologist ones. "why though? he has no backstory ... he wants power and complete control and there are no established plot reasons for him to want [one big happy family]." "theres a lot of mystery surrounding him and i can see how it would be fun to theorize abt him and stuff. but i dont trust sympathizers lol" people are strongly misinformed about c!dream, either unintentionally or intentionally, which i find interesting. 

“if you unironically call yourself a dream apologist / sympathiser??? get well soon” "if you like him bc u think he can be redeemed/he's not a bad person ... get help" “that’s fine lol but also are you okay ?? do u need someone to talk to ???? is everything alright ????” honestly, all of the people saying c!dream sympathizers need help reminds me of jawsh’s statement that all stans are mentally ill. that’s an (insensitive) insult, not an argument.

"I strongly encourage those who like him to get some therapy" i actually was at my therapist's yesterday and she said liking fictional characters is a-ok. your point?

most of the people who are confused honestly just don't seem to have the information about the character's actual arc, which i think says a lot about the fandom. "i am confused, he's almost irredeemably evil" "I don’t really know why you’d like c!Dream ... he’s not exactly meant to be super sympathetic" "I’m confused by people who see him as sympathetic. He’s only ever done people wrong and doesn’t regret any of it." “I wish they had more of his reasoning to base their sympathy on” “I simply dislike the debates on morality, whos good or bad, where the question often is ‘is dream really that bad?’ Or ‘could there be a way he is justified in this?’ and the sympathy to him where he clearly shouldnt get any.” “????? I would say its because hes a jerk but people who really like him dont really seem to think of him as a jerk so im really not sure” so many people have no idea about the actual character or the enthusiasts’ reasoning, it’s honestly kind of sad.

reponses like “they’re wrong” and “they’re crazy” genuinely cracked me up the first time i read them, sure buddy-

either way, you’re allowed to feel uncomfortable around or dislike c!dream. it’s just the harassment c!dream enthusiasts face (proven by this research) and well, it does grind my gears a little when well-written characters get misunderstood, i must admit.

this is your outlet to rant abt ur old aus (only if u want!! ignore this if u dont)

i just sent u a really long ask about my star wars au, so i suppose i’ll take this time to talk about my not-so-extensive kingdom au. my star wars au i wrote a bunch of but this one barely got off the ground

so anyways this one was kind of a precursor to little soldiers. what u have to do know is that there are three (3) relevant kingdoms. niki and tubbo are the prince and princess of the first, eret and fundy (their cousins) are monarchs of the second, and dream is a monarch of the third. none of the kingdoms have names just stay with me okay

so niki and tubbo are siblings right. male preference primogeniture doesn’t exist in this world so the firstborn heir gets the throne regardless of who they are. so niki is supposed to ascend to queen, but she doesn’t want to. it’s not that she can’t handle the responsibility of queen, it’s that she wants the freedom of letting it go. until she can hand the throne to tubbo when he comes of age, she’s consistently pissed off with being a princess and yearns for more freedom. tubbo has always wanted to be king, but he just fears that he’ll be a bad one. mainly because he thinks he isn’t in touch with the people.

in the other kingdoms, fundy and dream were forced into a marriage they didn’t want, so they both run off, but not with each other. while dream becomes a mercenary and travels with his mercenary buddy (technoblade) doing missions, fundy goes into the capital and acts as an orphan boy. this works for both of them, because the general public has no idea what fundy looks like and because dream wears his signature mask and goes under the pseudonym XD. eret gets hugely worried that fundy has gone missing, and assigns knights to niki and tubbo to make sure they stay safe.

meanwhile, sbi lives in the capital of niki and tubbo’s kingdom. phil is a blacksmith, wilbur is a failing aspiring actor/playwright, tommy is a failing aspiring knight. recently they had met two orphan boys around the same time. one of them is fundy, who is only seen occasionally because he runs around so much, and who won’t go any further than his joke backstory of having a salmon mother so he gains the reputation of a prankster. the other is ranboo, a half and half kid who’s there all the time and claims to have come from the warwoods but can’t remember any of it.

the warwoods are the forest that is the epicenter of magic in the world that all three of the kingdoms stay the hell away from because the peoples there (enderman, if u wanna get specific) are believed to practice evil magic. the magic part is true– they use it in every part of their lives– but it’s not evil. it’s just thought to be by outsiders because everyone who has entered has had bad intentions and needed to be fought off.

so ranboo is from those warwoods, but he cannot remember it. he was last dropped off by techno (his mercenary pseudonym is The Blade because he’s dramatic) on his last visit a week or two prior to the beginning of the fic. techno brought him there because he knows ranboo would be unsafe faring in the rest of the hostile capital.

so the story ACTUALLY begins when niki and tubbo are assigned puffy and tommy, their respective knights. puffy, because she’s a captain of the royal guard and trustworthy, and tommy because his kind heart and determination made puffy develop a soft spot for him.

so puffy shows niki some freedom (because this originally started as a puffychu fic and got WILDLY derailed because i enjoy worldbuilding so much), and tommy shows tubbo the capital. tubbo meets phil and wilbur and they purposely treat him casually so tubbo can learn to be in-touch with his subjects. tubbo has a wonderful time and clingyduo rapidly become best friends, and all this just makes tubbo want to eventually be king more.

eventually tubbo runs into fundy and recognizes him. he knows he should bring fundy home and let eret know that he’s okay, but he fears that it would mean tommy would have to go home. so he doesn’t tell anyone.

there’s a bunch of ranboo magic lore because enderman magic practically runs through his veins– in fact, his prolonged separation from it is what causes/worsens his memory over time. shenanigans ensue with this, until technoblade returns home a few months later and figures it all out.

i don’t have an ending for this. not even a brief summary like in the star wars au. this one just stops midway. have fun

backstory:

aspen filomena santos was born into stardom on september 14 to alesandro santos and elizabet kambalov. her father is an a-list actor/director, and her mother, a retired ballerina turned fashion designer.

she is the baby of the family, and the only girl out of five kids, so it’s only natural that she was always treated as a princess.  

aspen’s mother put her into ballet at a very young age. she had been wishing for a girl so she could have a dancer, and naturally, aspen fell in love with it. she would cry when ever she had to leave the studio, and once she got on stage for the first time, she never wanted to leave.

her mother enrolled her at the joffrey school of ballet  at age six. her mom spent her entire career with joffrey before retiring, so she always very heavily tried to influence aspen to dance with joffrey so she could kind of live through her. at the age of 18, she got offered a contract from both american ballet theatre and joffrey ( which btw, wouldn’t actually happen irl. but for rp proposes, we’ll say it does ). her mother wanted aspen to follow in her footsteps and accept joffrey ballet, but aspen chose abt. she’s always had a dream of living in NYC, and this was the perfect opportunity. 

so she's now a soloist with american ballet theatre. her mother is still mad at her for it, even four years later.

personality:

aspen has always been VERY independent. much to her parent’s dismay, who wished they could have coddled her and kept her as the baby for as long as possible. ever since she took her first steps, she’s liked to do things on her own. she’s also so insanely stubborn and determined. once she gets an idea in her mind there is no way she is being swayed from it.

her father is greek, so she fluently speaks the language. she travels a lot to greece to visit family that still lives there, and it is her favorite place ever. her mother is also russian but after she came to the states as a child, they never returned. aspen knows quite a bit of russian & can understand it when family speaks it, but doesn’t fluently speak it herself. 

she loves art… in like every form. dance, photography, painting, poetry. she’s just one of those super artistically talented people and everyone is just wondering h o w

she’s kind of shy until you get to know her ?? but once you do she’s just a lil ray of sunshine with a huge heart,,, she literally loves everyone & is a very selfless & loyal person. 

hardcore insomniac okay this girl NEVER sleeps. aspen’s also such a workaholic she has no clue what do with herself when she has days off.

aspen is a major perfectionist. she’ll stay for hours in the studio rehearsing if even just one step in her variation is wrong. her mom has always been very hard on her & expected perfection, so she took on the mind set and then some. if she messes up in a show or has a bad rehearsal she’ll mope for days 

she has a tendency to always see the good in things… she trusts that almost everything is good until proven otherwise, and it gets her hurt a lot

judging by her personality, most people would assume her to be a hopeless romantic, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. she def has philophobia, she’s never had good luck when it comes to love and emotional attachment when it comes to significant others scares the shit out of her. she has major trust issues, so she tends to just try and stay away from developing too deep of feelings for someone.

i got tagged by @loduga to say 11 things about myself!! and i love 2 talk abt me so here we go

i’m bilingual; i can speak french i think semi-decently and i passed the DELF at a b-2 level, which i think is supposed to be an international standard but idk how to put DELF scores into layman’s terms so rip

my first dream job was astronaut, but math has always been really hard for me and around eighth grade i changed my mind lol

i’m a writer because one time in eighth grade i went “you know what i want to start making things and i hate looking at my own art so i’ll make stories” and then i wrote a very very bad story that was about two high school students who were also spies

i can’t currently play any instruments; i used to pay alto sax and trumpet in high school but i’ve long since forgotten, and i’m trying to learn ukulele but i keep forgetting to practise. 

i competed in CFSW (canadian festival of spoken word) which is a slam poetry competition dshjg when my team was all under 25 and wildly inexperienced and we didn’t come dead last (we came 24th out of 25th which was fair because everyone else was so great)

i wrote a play in high school and we almost put it on, but since there’s only two actors it couldn’t be done through my class. i got a couple friends to act in it. it ended up falling apart a bit due to the three of us being dramatic pieces of shit. it probably needs heaving editing but i’m still really proud of it since it’s the first piece i really finished that wasn’t FOR something

i’ve known how to play magic the gathering since i was twelve. my family did that instead of board games on game night; i’m really good in my house and awful against people who play tournaments. our cards are too old and we have too many house rules. also the best deck i ever made was a blue/green/black enchantment deck i love that thing

i used to be really into both indie and forum rp; i joined a group on wattpad for a pjo rp and that was fun as hell for a month or so before most of the original people left and we had new people. just me and the girl who organized it stayed and then it was :/. switched to tunglr when i was 14 and cycled through a couple communities before ending up back at pjo jdshjghhk. i’d like to get back into it but it’s a lot of work and i’m always the slowest replier in the entire fucking world so. i’ll stick to writing my own stuff for now.

i have my ears pierced although they might be closed up now; i haven’t worn earrings since i was a high school senior

i read btvs books before i ever watched the tv series. i don’t even think i finished the tv show jhdjsgkj but i’ve read thousands of pages of stories. i borrowed those books from the library probably 5 times each.

i cut my own hair. started bc i couldn’t get anyone to cut my hair as short as i wanted it, now it’s to save money lmao
