AITA for not wanting to be in my cousin's life? This will be long, I'm sorry
I (f19, but this started at 15) have a rough relationship with my family, I don't have a better word to describe them as besides just not the best towards me. But the real issue now is that I don't want to be involved in my cousin's (f8, but this started at 5) life. This sounds very silly, I know, but let me explain. My cousin is physical in how she expresses herself towards me (she likes to throw things at me and hit me and bite me, and I can't do anything about it because I get in trouble if I do). I have a severe nut allergy and there have been multiple times she's been caught trying to smear peanut butter on me or in my mouth while I slept. She likes to tell me she wishes I'd just eat the peanut butter so she'd never have to see me again. She just hates me, honestly (I'm not sure why, I've never hated the kid, I'm not mean to her, none of us have been able to figure out why and when asked she just says she hates me because she hates me)
The house we lived in contained just me, her, my mother, and my uncle. She is not abused by either adult, before anyone asks, she's actually quite spoiled due to the fact that they can't discipline her in any way without risking her being taken away. And I don't hate her at all, I'm bitter about how she treats me, but I know she's only a little kid. However, I just don't like being treated that way. I recently moved out and I told my mother that I didn't want to be part of my cousin's life until she stopped treating me that way. (Info: My mother thinks she treats me this way because she's a kid so she can't vent her anger out on the adults and I was the only other kid she could vent it out on.) My mother thinks I'm being cruel and punishing my cousin, she says I'll regret this choice and that my cousin will be all I have one day so I shouldn't do this. I've tried to explain that I'm not doing it to punish my cousin, it's just not good for my mental health and I can't be around this behaviour anymore. Other family members and family friends have agreed with my mother, but my friends think my decision is right. Since moving out and not going through that every day, I've started to feel better about myself, my depression isn't as bad and I don't have as much anxiety when I go to sleep. That is kinda swaying my decision to me thinking I'm right for choosing this for myself, but I still worry my mother might be right and I might be ruining my cousin's mental health by leaving.
I want to add that I know I'm way older than her, and some of you might be wondering why I don't stand up to her, but I could never do anything to stop her. I spent many years in foster care due to issues with my family (my mother, specifically), and I know that even the littlest thing where I live can get your kid taken from you. If I even raised my voice at her to tell her to stop and she told someone, she could be taken away from my family and I can't do that to her, I know the horrors of foster care. I also have spent most of my life being abused and don't know how to protect myself or defend myself in situations like these. Please keep this in mind when/if you call me pathetic or stupid, trust me I know I am.
Please, I know a lot of you may think this is silly or dumb or bait, but I need to know aita for not wanting to be in my cousin's life?
Reasons I think I might be NTA: I think my decision is good for both of us and I believe I should put mental health first in this case as it can be dangerous in the future if I don't. I don't want to stay longer and end up hating her, she's just a kid and doesn't deserve to be hated.
Reasons I think I might be TA: This could be seen as punishing her, and she might hate me more for it. She's already started being meaner to other kids now that she can't vent it out on me and I'm an adult so I can take it better than one of her classmates could. She might think her behaviour drove me away and blame herself.
What are these acronyms?

Ri rants about Northanger Abbey
Now that I have finished Northanger Abbey, I'm reading/watching/listening to academic thoughts on it. I do not have a degree in literature, but it feels like a whole lot of people are missing that Henry and Eleanor's dad is emotionally abusive. ??? I'm not the only one noticing this, right? It seems to be The Thing To Do to criticize Catherine for thinking he's a bad dude and I'm here going, "but he IS a bad dude."
His kids are afraid of him. They pull into themselves when they're around him. Eleanor doesn't have any friends when we meet her. At one point, she's scared about being a few minutes late to dinner. In her own house. Meanwhile, Henry's got a massive ironic-humor-defense-mechanism.
Catherine picks up on this. She's aware that Something Is Wrong. Her only knowledge of the sorts of people whose children are afraid of them comes from books and she doesn't have the vocabulary to express what she's picking up on. She's trying to figure it out. When Henry finds her in his mother's room, she isn't immediately forthcoming about her concerns. He pries it out of her. She tries to change the topic numerous times; he keeps coming back to it.
It's not like Catherine ran into dinner and did a whole Grand Detective Reveal accusing General Tilney of being a murderer. She's noticed his children - her friends - are afraid of this man and she's trying to figure out why. It seems unlikely she'd have said anything but-for Henry not letting it go when he found her.
Catherine isn't stupid. She's not letting her imagination run away with her. She's got a bad feeling in her gut that she doesn't understand but her gut feeling is correct. General Tilney is not a safe person. We see this for ourselves when he turns on her and puts her in a dangerous situation. She's seventeen, and has never traveled by herself but he sends her out of the house to fend for herself. He refuses to send anyone with her, so there's no one to protect her if someone wants to rob her or harm her. She doesn't know how the public transit works. She didn't even have money to get home; Eleanor has to sneak some to her. He throws her out and he doesn't care what happens to her. (That she figures out how to get home safely evidences that she's brave and clever).
So basically: (1) Catherine's gut is suggesting this guy is a bad guy; (2) the guy is a bad guy; and (3) the guy even puts her in a situation where she could be harmed. And if something had happened to her because she was forced into this situation - if she fell in front of a coach and got run over or if something more nefarious happened - that's at least partially General Tilney's fault and would mean he was...negligent or even worse.
Have none of these great academic minds ever considered that it's Henry who changes? When Henry finally gets Catherine's fears out of her after finding her in the hall outside his mother's room, he defends his father. This is a really common thing with people who are emotionally abused (I defended my abuser for years even when I knew deep down something was off). Because the abuse is not physical, it's harder to identify. You start to think that maybe you misunderstood or are exaggerating things in your mind, that you're being overly emotional or that you're reading into things that aren't there. An abuser even knows how to play into those thoughts until you find that it is easier to explain away and lie to yourself (he cares "in his way"). Henry knows deep down that his father does not treat him or Eleanor right, but he's lived his entire life in this abusive situation. I wonder how much of Henry's speech to Catherine about being reasonable is actually him voicing the things he says to himself.
When General Tilney puts Catherine in danger, Henry's finally able to admit the truth to himself. Once that happens, he's able to free himself.
That's the book I read. I'm still not sure I read the same book the academics read.

Could I request for fem reader running away after a fight with (Miko, and Ei separated) but they both go searching for reader and make up-? ( you can add some spice if you want ;)
Make You Come Back
Fandom: Genshin Impact
Characters: Yae Miko, Ei
Pairings: Fem!Reader x ^above characters (separate)
Warnings: extremely vanilla smut (yae’s part), hurt/comfort
Word count: 1.4k
Synopsis: A shorter piece for this wonderful ask (that inspired another train wreck of a fic :)
Tumblr media
Ei:
Typically, Ei prefers people who are independent and warriors. She only respects those who are willing to fight for what they believe in and those who are strong enough to pursue greater things. So the fact that she sees you as a pathetic, helpless, little thing, means that she won't budge from her role as your protector. You can't reason with her. One of the few times you hear her laugh is when you hold up a sword and challenge her to a duel.
She's never going to take you seriously.
"You are like a light that must be protected. A tiny candle that must be shielded from the storm."
Ironic that she'd say such a thing, when she is the one who commands them.
You sigh and shake your head. You miss going to the beach by yourself. Swimming and floating with the ocean waves. You can practically feel your muscles deteriorating from their lack of use over the past few months. But Ei's having none of it. And who are you to defy an archon?
Her words are starting to get to you.
Tiny.
Helpless.
Weak.
You can't endure much more of this slander. You've been patient for long enough. Her comments about your fragility used to only be occasional, but now she mentions it whenever you see her. It's accumulating to be something you listen to her say multiple times a day. And you hate that you prove her right by letting her shut down any arguments you make.
That has to stop.
This has to end.
You're so sick of it all.
The frustration festers inside of you until it morphs into anger, which in turn builds into resentment. Your anger quickly projects onto other people. You yell at people who don't deserve it. Scare a number of shopkeepers into giving you items for free. You watched Itto literally launch himself over a stack of crates to get out of your way as you headed up to the palace. The fog of war and anger covers your thoughts. Yelling at others isn't helping.
You want her to listen to you.
Sara does not take kindly to your back talk. You may be the shogun's special one, but you're still a citizen of Inazuma, she can still arrest you.
You dare her to do it.
She shakes her head and ignores your taunting.
You're a light. A small candle, but even a small flame is still powerful. It can grow into a violent thing. In fact, fire is inherently dangerous to begin with. What a tragic thing it is for people to need reminding of.
Ei takes your snappy quips and angry attitude even worse than her general. She hasn't done anything wrong.
She's never wrong.
You lose it when she says that. It's the final straw for you. You instantly start yelling at her. Ranting and going off about how she doesn't respect you, that she doesn't even see you as a person. You're just a helpless puppy that she has to protect. You're not anything but a charity case in her eyes. Someone weaker to compare herself to that will make her feel better about herself. Well fuck that. You're not going to listen to her insult you anymore. She can go find another starry eyed, delusional follower to do that. There's plenty of people she can pick from.
You feign and exaggerate your "respectful" goodbye and storm out of her room. You're not a fire. You're a flood. You're going back to the place that makes you feel free.
Ei stands there in shock after she watches you leave. She's never seen you in such a state. She's never heard you raise your voice unless it was to call someone out from afar. She didn't expect to feel so guilty after seeing you disappear after you closed the sliding screen door.
Perhaps she was too much. It's hard for humans to accept their weaknesses.
Perhaps it's that you're in a bad mood. Clearly you're angry.
Are you really... angry at… her?
Ei thinks about the situation, but she becomes more and more uncomfortable as she realizes that it's her fault that you're so upset. This tense feeling doesn't ease up, only morphs and grows. Now she feels uncomfortable and guilty and more than anything, worried.
Worried about you.
Worried about your relationship.
Worried that she's messed up in a way that means you won't forgive her.
She exits the palace and ignores the guards when they ask her where she's going or if she needs help.
That must've been how you wanted to do things.
Ei needs to find you right now.
She starts walking through the city. She can't feel your presence among the crowds. You're nowhere nearby. She follows the traces of electro from the special pendant she gave you a while back. Her heart clenches at the thought that despite your anger towards her, you kept the necklace on.
Dread washes over her.
Or maybe… you took it off, and the trail is only leading her away from you. Ei makes it out of the city, and surprises herself when she starts running. She's lost so much time. She can't afford to let you be angry at her for much longer.
She had to apologize.
Before it's too late.
She almost collapses when she finds the pendant on the beach, dumped on the sands.
Her heart sinks.
She vaguely hears the sloshing of water and soft steps on the beach, making their way towards her. She assumes it's some Nobushi lacky. She doesn't even bother to draw her weapon. Which is good for you, because your voice reaches her ears before you step too close for her to accidentally cuts you down.
Her head whips up towards you, and she reaches her hand out, regret written all over her face.
It's the first time you've seen her like this. She usually tries to cover her mistakes by resolving to do better. But right now, she's living in a moment where she can't do that.
You don't even have to ask what she's doing before she cuts in.
"I’m… sorry. I shouldn't have taken away your freedom. I want to protect you but not at the cost of your happiness."
"Ei," you shake your head, "I don't need you to protect me. I can take care of myself. I'm tougher than you think." You can tell she still doesn’t believe you. Words are cheap making such a claim. You take her by the wrist and raise her hand so it circles your throat.
You look her dead in the eyes. "Go on. Test me. You should see for yourself how resilient I am."
Ei's hand makes contact with your skin, and you can instantly feel your body tingling with the surge of power coming from her. You know you're inviting her to break you.
What a thrilling idea.
Yae Miko:
Yae Miko does not get jealous.
Others are jealous of her.
So don't even think for a second that the reason she's all over you now is because she was jealous of those other women, who were far too close and too touchy for her liking. She certainly wasn't jealous of that stupid little toy of yours that you cuddle at night instead of her. And she definitely isn't jealous of all the attention you give to that Kamisato girl, even when Yae is standing right next to you.
Yae Miko is never wrong either.
So when she decided it was your turn to be ignored by her, it was justified. It was justified for her to let you storm away after angrily yelling about how she hasn't even told you what's wrong or why she's suddenly ignoring you. And it was justified when she suddenly showed up at your house to reinsert herself back into your life.
She obviously wasn't here because she was apologizing. She was never wrong after all.
But you know the truth. You can always figure out her thoughts by her actions. Yae Miko can twist words all she likes, but the way she grips your thighs and bites at your flesh reveals her true intentions.
She's desperate. Pathetically so.
Yae Miko cannot live without you.
She needs your eyes to always be on her. She needs your hands on her skin. She needs your mouth to say her name.
Yes. Like that.
She thrusts into you.
Do it again.
Cry it out.
Scream so loud the whole island hears you.
Repeat it like a mantra, like a prayer.
Don't worry.
Yae Miko is here to save you.

may i request a Fu Hua relationship headcanon (Fu Hua x female reader) please?
Hello there! I absolutely love Fu Hua and am very excited to write this, so thank you for the request!<33
Content: Fluff, slight angst, established relationship, wlw, Female reader, mentions of HI3 typical violence, Reader is not a Valkyrie, a little ooc?, sfw Reader is female! ((Not proofread))
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your relationship certainly came as a surprise to everyone on the Hyperion, including Fu Hua herself. Sure, she's glad that you've accepted her feelings for you, but she couldn't help but wonder why. For everyone else, it was more of a surprise that Fu Hua even cared for things like that, but alas, your relationship was naturally accepted and even gleefully supported by Kiana.
Despite her stoic and aloof behavior, Fu Hua isn't above being, or at least attempting, to be romantic when she really wants to be. Her ways of doing so may be a little clumsy or even odd at times, but she's really just following everyone's advice on what to do most of the time.
That alone can make things a little troubling, especially when she has a plan in mind and is unwilling to stray from it. Thankfully, you just always follow along, silently chuckling to yourself at how seriously she always took your dates. Her favorite ones would either be dinner dates or just relaxing somewhere with you at her side. (She definitely tried training with you as a date idea, but after Himeko told her that that was probably not very romantic, she stopped doing that-)
One thing she worries the most about however, is the way you react to her being practically immortal. No matter what your reaction is, she makes sure to tell you that she'll find you in every next life she lives. She just doesn't want to lose you first.
That's why she's glad that you aren't a Valkyrie. She thinks that it would be alot more difficult if you were and therefore is thankful that you're never directly in any danger. With that said, she'd protect you with her life if anything ever happened. She isn't afraid of death, if it means that you're safe by the end of it.
Arguments are a little difficult to navigate on her part, as she has a hard time connecting with you emotionally sometimes. But at the end of the day, when everything cools down, you'll still find her patiently waiting for you to come back and curl up into her arms.
She'll always be there for you, whether in this life or the next.
Tumblr media
There you go! I hope it wasn't too bad and that you liked it! Thank you again for the fun request!<33

Anybody else wondering how she's going to create a new trove? Last time I checked, neither the house, nor the library had a blacksmith built into it, and I doubt that blacksmith who brought the swords to him would be willing to let her into his shop again, much less near the forge. If Amren's that worried, just order the blacksmiths of the NC to ban her.
Beyond that, it's not like Nesta makes a habit of cooking for them, so she doesn't need to worry about death by toast. Or does she think Nesta's going to sew a deadly dress? Or write a murder book?
Not telling her would cause more problems, because they'd have no way of knowing what she creates and where it might end up. Isn't having trove items roaming around, possibly in the hands of civilians or enemies without realising more dangerous?
What if a friendship bracelet she makes is accidentally imbued with some dangerous magic, not the diy airtag type it was in the book, and either Emerie or Gwyn take it? What if that bracelet is lost/stolen in Illyria, and now a trove item, weapon or no, is with some random Illyrian, who probably don't like Rhys. Or that bracelet could be lost on one of her trove snatching missions, meaning it winds up with Bryallin or in The Prison.
What if she makes a cake, or sweets, or spice blendds with Gwyn & Emerie that they share with other priestesses or, again, take to Illyria. Then there's the issue of imbuing objects, since she didn't build the HOW herself, but she still brought it to life. What if she, unknowingly, does that to other weapons she uses in training, or books?
When she finally goes back to the city (because even those who delude themselves into thinking HOW was rehab and not abuse, can make the argument that keeping her there forever is in any way sane, and if they can, then they're walking red flags imo), they'd have no way to track what she makes, or where it ends up, since even she wouldn't know.
Then there's the emissary issue. Since they want to consider her their emissary (regardless of how bs it is without proper procedures), they have to send her to other places (shocker), and if she creates things without knowing, they'd wind up in foreign countries, and someone would eventually figure out she could make them, putting her in more danger. Even if Nesta doesn't become emissary, she's likely to want to leave at some point, since she expressed her desire to travel to Feyre at one point. Meaning that they're options would be to hold Nesta prisoner, or let her go with that risk to her life and their court.
A risk that would decrease if Nesta knew because she'd then be able to personally keep track of what she makes, if she does make anything, intentionally or not. Anything she suspects she made, she could bring back (not that they deserve whatever she made, but from the 'protect the nc from outside threats' perspective), or she could hide them.
Ultimately, not telling Nesta what she can do causes more problems than it solves, and that's putting aside the ethics of restricting her bodily autonomy and manipulating her this way. If they don't tell her, then short of locking her up forever, they can't contain or control the potential spread of this hypothetical trove. (I wouldn't put it past them to lock her up though).
There is no way Amren isn't just pulling concerns from thin air just to spite Nesta, because no level headed, concerned for court security person, would overlook these issues. Hell, I'm socked Azriel, who's whole job is to maintain court security, didn't point this out.

Price walked up the driveway, his heart hammering away behind his ribs. He’d faced a lot of things in his life and his line of work, yet nothing shook him quite like this did. Nothing made him panic quite like the task he was about to do, which was laughable given he wasn't in any danger. He blew out a shaky breath, removing his hat as he fisted it anxiously. He’d agonised over what to wear to this, wondering if more casual clothes would have been appropriate. He decided against it though, wearing some dark camo pants and a dark green t-shirt. He wanted to look the part, unsure of how he’d be received here.
He knocked firmly, straightening up and trying to will some confidence within himself. He wasn't sure just what was eating at him but he knew if this went badly, Simon wouldn't be happy at all and he didn't want to let him down. Not with this. It was a big deal and part of him thought Simon should have come here himself, but he understood why he couldn't, not yet. It was better this way. Price just hoped the news would be received well.
He heard shuffling behind the door before it swung open, revealing a petite and pretty woman with dark brown hair and striking blue eyes. Before he got a word out, he saw her eyes flit over his uniform, her whole demeanour turning tense as she narrowed her eyes, gripping the door in the death grip. He’d never seen the woman in person but he found himself thinking how lucky a man his Lieutenant was. He opened his mouth to introduce himself but she beat him to it.
“Why are you here? He's been dead for five years,” she bit out, voice strained and he felt a pang in his chest as he saw her eyes glaze over with unshed tears.
“Mrs Riley… I’m Captain John Price. I don't mean to intrude but I really need a word. Can I come inside?” he asked politely, practically expecting the door to be slammed in his face. She looked conflicted and he could see the grief all over her, even after all this time. It was then he noticed she was still wearing her rings on her left ring finger, could see the chain of dog tags around her neck and he just knew what name would be on them. Fuckin’ hell, Simon, you arsehole.
“Please,” he added softly, his face imploring. He didn't want to deliver this news on her bloody doorstep. She pursed her lips before nodding tensely, moving away to let him in. He shut the door behind him and followed her into the living area.
It looked cosy and his eyes drifted to the fireplace, noticing the framed picture on the centre of it. It was strange to see his second in command this way, unmasked and smiling on his wedding day. He looked younger, less jaded and beat down. Less scarred. The couple were something to behold together, Charlotte in her wedding dress as she grinned up at her new husband with nothing but pure unadulterated love on her face. He couldn't imagine how she’d taken the news when she’d been told Simon was dead. It must have crushed her.
She moved to sit in one of the armchairs and he took a seat on the couch, perching on the edge, feeling tightly wound. He licked his lower lip, wondering how best to phrase what he needed to say as she shifted in her seat uncomfortably.
“Simon told me alot about you,” he murmured awkwardly, wincing as she looked away quickly, folding her arms over herself like she was trying to create a barrier to protect herself. She was clearly still affected by it which didn’t bode well for what he was about to tell her. He knew she'd be relieved but mighty pissed. He knew he would be.
“Charlotte-” he started, only to be interrupted.
“Mummy, who’s this?” a small voice asked and his head snapped to the stairs so fast, he thought he might break his bloody neck. A small girl was coming down the stairs in her little pyjamas with bunnies on them. A mass of blonde curls coming to her shoulders and deep, dark brown eyes he knew all too well.
“Fuckin’ hell…” he whispered, eyes wide as he stared at the clone of his lieutenent in miniature as she toddled down the stairs. She walked over to her mum, standing between her legs as Charlotte cupped her cheeks, stroking them gently.
“What are you doing up, sweet pea?” she asked softly.
“I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep,” the girl pouted before she turned her dark eyes to him. “Hello!” she grinned cheerfully and he suddenly felt like he’d had a hole punched right through his chest.
“Hello, sweetie. What's your name?” he asked with a tentative smile.
“Elizabeth, but people call me Beth,” she replied and her smile rivalled the sun. Beth.
“That's a very pretty name,” he smiled back at her and it made her smile widen.
“What's your name?” she asked curiously, tilting her head.
“My name is John,” he answered softly,
“Hello, Mr John!” she beamed and his throat closed up at how sweet she was. He suddenly found himself wondering how Simon was going to take the news. He’d missed out on so much, wasn’t even aware he had a fucking kid. He was completely lost in thought, only brought out when the little girl spoke again.
“It's almost my birthday! I’m gonna be five!” she grinned, holding up five fingers and almost dancing on the spot with excitement. He couldn't help the smile that graced his face.
“Wow, that's a big number. You're gonna be a big girl,” he replied with a grin and she giggled. The sound felt like it filled up his hollow chest and he didn’t know how to process it. This little girl wasn't just Simon’s family, she was his family too. She was family to the 141.
“I didn't know I was pregnant. I found out two weeks after…” Charlotte trailed off, looking away and stroking the girl's soft curls as if to ground herself. He couldn’t imagine going through all of that alone after such news and he feared her reaction even more now. He didn't want to mention it in front of Elizabeth though.
“Are you an army man? Like daddy?” she asked excitedly, catching him off guard again. He wasn't sure why it shocked him that Charlotte had told her about Simon, of course she would. Yet it stunned him anyway.
“I am,” he replied carefully and her eyes lit up for a moment.
“Mummy said he was a hero! He saved people! But now he's an angel in heaven. He keeps me safe,” she murmured, a slight sadness now overtaking her voice that John hated more than anything. The poor girl thought her dad was fucking dead and he cursed Simon for sending him here.
“Are you a hero too, Mr John?” she asked curiously and he swallowed the lump forming in his throat.
“I try to be, sweetheart,” he replied, trying to give her a smile.
“Sweetie, you need to go back to bed, okay? Let me speak to Mr John and I’ll come up and read you a story. You go up and pick one,” Charlotte instructed softly and Beth grinned with a nod.
“Okay! Bye Mr John!” she beamed, waving at him before she ran off, trotting up the stairs once more. His chest ached, his head pounding with the situation he found himself in.
“I don't mean to be rude John, but why are you here?” Charlotte asked. She looked worn down and he felt another pang in his chest as he looked at her. Girl looked like she had the weight of the world on her shoulders.
“I… fuckin’ hell…” he trailed off, wringing the hat in his hands anxiously. She watched him expectantly and he couldn't meet her eyes.
“Simon’s not dead,” he blurted, needing to get it out of his mouth like poison. Silence overtook the room then and he felt nerves well up inside of him, eyes glancing over to her as she blinked dumbly for a long moment. But then a wave of grief washed over her face before it hardened and she glared at him.
“Is this some idea of a sick joke? You come into my house, talk to my fucking daughter and you come to fuck with my head like this?” she hissed at him and he shook his head vehemently.
“I’m not… I’m tellin’ the truth, Charlotte. He’s alive,” he implored, watching as a myriad of emotions crossed her face. She looked lost, like she was being swept out to sea and he found himself standing, moving to crouch in front of her and take her trembling hands in his own.
“How… he can’t... they told me he was dead,” she mumbled tearfully, a dazed look to her face as she frowned and shook her head.
“It’s complicated. He went through…- Some shit happened on a mission and it followed him home, they thought he was dead. On paper he was killed, but he’s still alive. He's on my task force and he sent me here,” he explained, squeezing her hands softly hoping to help ground her.
“He’s alive? And he didn't… he didn’t contact me?” she asked, her voice now small and distraught at the idea. She looked so confused and Price swallowed thickly.
“He wanted to keep you safe, he thought it was best. That’s… that's a conversation you need to have with him, I’m afraid. But I’m not just there for this,” he muttered with a wince, looking at her sheepishly as her tear stricken face turned to him. He knew he'd already dropped a bomb on her and she looked like she didn’t know which way was up.
“You need to come with me, back to our base,” he explained, feeling like he was ready to face an explosion. She blinked at him for a long moment before a laugh bubbled from her lips, but it wasn't one of amusement. She sounded delirious.
“What? I just found out my husband isn't actually dead and purposely fucked off and left me on my own to raise our kid, and now we need to move? Am I having a stroke or something?” she asked, eyes wild and incredulous as she looked at him. He let her hands go, moving back to sit on the sofa, wiping a hand over his face. He really wished Simon had come here himself, he was going to fucking kill him.
“I know it's a lot to take in, but his identity’s been compromised. Some bad people know he isn’t dead and it isn't hard to trace you back to him. You're not safe and neither is Beth. Simon wants you on the base so you’ll be protected, just until the threat is dealt with.”
“Oh, he wants us on the base now our lives are in danger? Fucking fantastic,” she huffed, wiping her face angrily before blowing out a deep breath, hanging her head. He left her alone for a moment to process the information and after a few long moments she looked at him once more, a defeated look across her face. He knew she didn't want to, but knowing her daughter wasn't safe would force her to go with him.
“When do we need to leave?” she asked with a heavy sigh.
“Now, preferably,” he explained sheepishly, watching her take another deep inhale, her eyes closed.
“Let me pack some stuff,” she muttered and he nodded, watching uncomfortably as she stood.
He sat on the couch for a long while as she packed the stuff for both her and Beth and his mind drifted to his second once more. Simon was in for a shock when they turned up, an addition he wasn't aware of in tow. Not to mention his very pissed off and hurt wife. He wasn't sure if Simon had prepared himself for the wrath Price knew was coming. Maybe he thought she’d just be grateful he was alive. He had no doubt she was but he’d seen the hurt on her face when she found out he'd been avoiding her for all these years. There had been so much she’d had to do by herself, the pregnancy, the birth, raising the girl. All of it alone, thinking her husband was dead.
He knew from Simon that she had no family. His family had become her family but then they were all gone and he fucked off. Maybe it was an easier pill to swallow to think he was dead, that it hadn't been his choice to leave. Knowing he'd made this choice, that he’d left willingly, well he knew that had to leave a bad taste in her mouth. He thought of the small blonde then, looking so much like her father it was almost scary. She thought her daddy was an angel in heaven and now she was going to meet him. He couldn’t imagine how that would fuck with her head.
“I’m just gonna step outside to make a phone call,” he murmured awkwardly as he stood, looking over to where she was stuffing some teddies into a backpack. She glanced over at him but didn't stop what she was doing.
“Tell him to go fuck himself while you're at it,” she huffed, her wobbly voice betraying how upset she was even if she was trying to seem more angry than hurt. He gave her a sad but wry smile as he nodded, moving to leave the house and walk to his car. He couldn't just turn up with a child like that, his Lieutenant was likely to have a fucking aneurysm if he did. He needed to let him know, at least warn him of the tiny whirlwind that would be coming back to base.
He knew it would be a lot to deal with but he didn't want the small girl's feelings to get hurt if her dad acted like a right arsehole with her in his shocked stupor. The ride back to base would take around two hours so he hoped it would be enough time for Simon to get his head in gear for what was coming for him. Some might have called it karma.
The phone rang twice before the gruff voice came through the other end.
“Price, is she alright?” he rushed out, not even bothering to hide the fear in his voice. This past week since all this came to a head had been tense for the entire team. He was the only one who knew of Charlotte since he’d met Simon when they were together. He'd worked with Simon once before he faked his death, before the Mexico bullshit happened. Then after, he'd been the one to take the man in after the hell he'd been through, been there when he'd made the choice to lie to her.
He’d never met the girl but he knew the masked soldier was head over heels in love with her. He’d tried to convince him not to be a dick and play dead but he couldn't get through to the man. He was too pig headed for his own good sometimes and in a way, John got why he did what he did. But now seeing the damage that was done, well, he was starting to rethink his position on it.
Once Simon realised his wife wasn't safe, he came to the terrifying realisation he needed to let her know he was very much alive because he needed to bring her to the base. The fucker was going to get Price to bring her there while he fucked off elsewhere so he could keep the charade up, but that was where Price firmly drew the line. His Lieutenant had been a wreck since and it hadn't been made any better when the rest of the 141, including Ale and Rudy who were honorary members and currently helping with their situation, hadn’t shut up about the fact that Ghost had a fucking secret wife. They were all in for a fucking treat now, weren't they?
“She’s pretty upset, I don't know what the fuck you were expectin’. She’s taken it pretty badly that you left her willingly,” he bit out with a sigh, wiping a hand over his tired face. He heard a shaky exhale down the line that stretched onto an uncomfortable silence. He knew Ghost was dealing with a lot of emotions right now, something he wasn't used to. Not anymore. Ghost was known for being stoic, for being emotionless, empty like a shell. He was always as cool as a cucumber, unflappable, unable to be ruffled. The entire team had seen a side to him only Price had been privy to before with all the emotions this had brought up for the man.
“Simon… I need to tell you somethin’ before we get there,” he murmured hesitantly. He felt a twisting in his gut and he tried to ignore it.
“What is it?” he asked carefully, apprehension bleeding through his tone. John inhaled a deep breath, blowing it out of his nose slowly.
“When you left… fuckin’ hell… Charlotte was pregnant. You’ve got a daughter,” he admitted quietly and he heard nothing but dead silence on the other end that made that twisting in his gut even worse.
“Hey, Cap, the fuck ye say to LT? I think ye broke him,” Soap snorted down the line.
“Where's Ghost?” Price bit out, panic settling in his bones. The idea of him freaking out over this to the point of rejecting his child made him feel sick. He never knew with Ghost. He wasn't the same as Simon, the two were very separate in the way they dealt with things.
“Dunno, he just shoved the phone at me and fucked off. What's goin’ on?” Soap asked curiously.
“I need you to get him, make sure he’s alright,” John sighed.
“Cap?” he asked worriedly.
“He’s got a fuckin’ kid, Johnny. Charlotte didn't find out until just after she was told he was dead,” John swallowed thickly.
“Steamin’ Jesus,” Soap whispered and John could just imagine his wide blue eyes at the news.
“I can't have him losin’ it. I don’t give a shit what he’s dealin’ with, this is his mess and he needs to deal with it. He needs to get his head out of his arse before this little girl gets here or I’ll fuckin’ have him,” John growled, already protective of the sweet tiny Riley.
“Aye, I’ll talk with him, try to get his head on right,” Soap affirmed and he knew Johnny would do his best. As much as Ghost liked to pretend otherwise, the two were best mates and if anyone could talk some sense into him, it would be Johnny.
“Tell him… tell him she’s called Beth. Elizabeth,” John murmured softly and he heard Soap’s intake of breath over the line. They didn't need to voice the emotion they both felt.
“Will do,” he replied somberly.
Tumblr media
His ears were ringing, eyes unseeing as he sat on his bed. He felt like he couldn’t fucking breathe and he ripped the mask off his face, letting it fall to the floor as he tried desperately to inhale air. A kid. He had a fucking daughter. His brain couldn't quite wrap his head around it, emotions not kicking in yet as all he felt was blind panic. A child. How the fuck was he gonna manage that? Was he even capable of being a good father now? He’d already fucked up, already missed out on almost five years of her fucking life and left Charlotte to do it all herself.
He knew deep down that faking his death was a mistake. Fucking hell, he’d known that long ago but had been too much of a coward to rectify it. And if he’d have known she was carrying his child then he’d never have done it. Never have left her alone to raise a child by herself. Never have abandoned his own kid. It made him feel sick. He was already dealing with the deep shame and regret of hurting Charlotte. He could only imagine how hurt she was right now and he knew he’d deserve whatever she threw at him when she got here.
He wished he could take it back, he really did, but it was too late now. He’d fucked up and now his ghosts were coming to haunt him. He knew he was in a state of shock and he dreaded to think what he’d feel once he had the capacity. He had to switch it off, had to be Ghost because he couldn’t have a fucking mental breakdown when they both got here. It wouldn't be fair to Charlotte, wouldn't be fair to his little girl. He had to be strong, had to bottle it all up until he could deal with it later on his own. He just had to get through this first meeting, maybe it would be easier after.
There was a knock at his door and before he could tell whoever it was to fuck off, it opened. Johnny came in, a sympathetic smile on his face that let him know Price had told him.
“I hear congrats are in order,” he murmured wryly and Simon’s heart thudded dully in his chest, not even managing a smile back or a witty retort. Johnny moved over to sit next to him on the bed, leaning his arms on his thighs as he leaned forward.
“I… I know ye goin’ through a lot, Si. I cannae even imagine how fucked yer head must be…” he trailed off softly, as if he was talking to a spooked animal. He was.
“I’m not gonna freak out,” Ghost bit out, running his hands through his hair in agitation. He hated that he had to wait. He’d rather get it all over with, rip it off like a fucking plaster. Soap gave him a look with a raised brow, one that told him he didn’t believe him in the least and Ghost blew out a breath and shook his head.
“I’ll be fine. Get this over with and then… I don’t fuckin’ know,” he frowned, a pain in his chest blooming and radiating throughout his entire being. The thought of Charlotte's tearful face made him feel sick. He'd always hated seeing her cry, especially when it had been his fault. He wasn't proud that he’d made her cry a fair few times over the years ‘cause he was a right fucking bastard when he wanted to be. But knowing she would be hurt more than ever made him feel like he wanted to throw up.
“She uh… She’s called Elizabeth… Beth… by the way,” Johnny murmured carefully, his voice thick. Beth. Tommy. Joseph. Mum. Elizabeth Riley. Fuck. His chest tightened again, a lump in his throat growing until it felt the size of his fist. His hands shook as he balled them up, pressing them into his thighs as he inhaled shakily.
He flinched when he felt Johnny’s large hand on his back, rubbing it soothingly. If his head wasn't so fucked, he’d have made a comment about it. As it was, it was taking all of his willpower not to break down. After a few more shaky deep breaths, he nodded resolutely and stood, slipping his mask back on, literally and figuratively.
“Let’s go to the gym, spar for a bit,” he suggested, his voice firm and not giving the Sergeant an option. He needed a distraction. The waiting would kill him.
“Aye. whatever ye want, LT,” Soap replied, giving him a sad smile as he stood too. Maybe beating the shit out of his best mate would help him feel a little better. He doubted it but it wouldn't hurt to try. He needed to stuff Simon back in his box, lock him up tightly and just get through the day.
A child. Fucking hell, he was fucked. Just another person to add to the list of those he let down. Another person for him to hurt. He had a wife he didn't deserve and a child he'd never met. He cursed Price for not letting him run off like he wanted and he cursed himself for being such a fucking coward, for being such a piece of shit. He was a Riley through and through. He really was his father's son.

ann, mira, and usagi from Alice In Borderland can fuck me up but there's unfortunately little to no fanfics of them so i was wondering if you could perhaps do like a reaction to their darlings being in danger (or get hurt) while playing the games and what they would do to protect the reader
same bestie, I’m here to answer your prayers dw 🖤🖤
tw / trigger warning: yandere-ish, abuse, murder, slitting of throats
(( none of the GIFs are mine, if you feel uncomfortable with yours being used in fics pls message me <3 :) ))

Tumblr media
Ann
If anyone dared put their hands on her darling, you best believe she'd kill them immediately. Another participant had tried to sacrifice you instead of himself, pushing you against the edge and she wasted no time running over there to save you.
Not an ounce of guilt would appear on her face as she'd slaughter them mercilessly, only thinking of you and your safety in that moment.
When you'd finally reunite again, Ann would carry a slight smirk on her face; half expecting you to come running into her arms with tears streaming down your face, thanking her over and over again for saving your life.
But of course you didn't, her darling was stupid.
'' Thank you '' you stammered out under your breath as you walked side by side with Ann.
She scoffed loudly, as if she wasn't sure if she had heard you quite right.
'' That's all you have to say? ''
Her steps came to a halt, irritation striking her beautiful features. After every grand gesture she had done for you - you were still oblivious to her feelings?
Cute
She scoffed again and then started walking, leaving your injured-self behind.
'' Wait for me! '' you cried out, regretting whatever thing you had done to piss her off.
You realised in that moment, that you needed her, wether you'd like to admit it or not. She seemed to always have your back, no matter what.
Tumblr media
Mira
She always made sure that you'd be safe while participating in the games. It was unfair of course - somehow, you always seemed to survive, getting away with barely a few scratches while others weeped over the lost lives of their loved ones. It was almost as if the game-makers had favourites...
Once people started noticing this, they'd distance themselves from you. Mira didn't mind, it only meant less trouble for her as she wouldn't need to get as jealous now.
They hated your guts and nothing you did seemed to please them, even as you begged them to befriend you, they refused stubbornly.
When the next game rolled around, they weren't taking any chances. The theory had to be tested for itself - they were going to hurt the game-makers' favourite and see what would happen.
Their well thought out plan had been in motion for weeks, unbeknownst to Mira. She could only watch as the contestants surrounded you, alarm bells ringing in her ears as soon as you were out of her sight.
Mira left the monitoring room, the others' protests fell to deaf ears. She ran all the way over to the arena without stopping once and when she arrived she looked insane.
Sweat beads decorated her forehead, she was out of breath and her eyes bulged with rage.
The first to notice her backed away. They knew something was up from the way she carried herself and recognising her also meant she was someone important.
'' Y/n, darling? '' she called out, voice softening momentarily as she called out to you.
You were unresponsive and slumped over on the ground. She could see through the cracks of the people covering her that she was hurt.
They got their theory tested and it turned out it was correct - but was it really worth losing their lives over it?
The last thing they saw were the bloodthirsty and revengeful face of Mira as she slit their throats skillfully.
Tumblr media
Usagi
You turned your head several times in both directions, eyes desperately searching for Usagi.
You needed her now more than ever, having been caught in a hidden trap during one of the games. If she didn't find you by luck, you'd likely die as there was no way of getting out on your own.
The teeth of the trap was digging into your skin, drawing blood any time you tried moving around. Tears threatened to spill from your eyes and you were starting to feel tired.
With the night fast approaching, you looked up and prayed for her to find you.
It seemed almost too good to be true as you heard footsteps not long after, hurriedly approaching the spot were you were laying.
'' Usagi? I'm here! '' you screamed, voice slightly hoarse.
Your eyes immediately widened when the runner turned the corner and came into your view - it wasn't her, but another player. An older male who seemed to smirk at your state, prodding you with his foot.
'' Ah, what a shame '' he ticked his tongue.
'' I was about to help, but I want to win so- ''
He erupted into a scream of horror as an ax hit him right in the middle of his head.
You flinched and hid yourself, scared that the person behind him would kill you too.
'' It's just me ''
You relaxed and released the breath you didn't know you were holding in, tears freely falling now as you looked at her with immense gratitude.
'' Thank you '' you cried, letting yourself be held in her arms as she kissed your head, looking as relieved as you were.

Hello, you are you? I'm very sorry if im bothering you, but im currently undergoing a dangerous fanominon that only you can fix. Genshin. Brainrot. Very scary i know. I'm wondering what my team and the story quest characters think when i talk to/ try and give advice to them even though I know full well they cant hear me (Or so I think) I wonder what they think when instead of moving on to the next story quest when the character just stands there. i stand with them and try to give them comfort.
You're not bothering me at all :D Thanks for sending me an ask!
I didn't know which characters you wanted so here you have a few I liked to write about! I wanted to add Childe but I lost motivation D:
Tumblr media
Jean, who is always working her hardest and puts herself below the people of Mondstadt, feels your aura as the traveller approaches her.
You go through her story quest and she feels a bit ashamed when you find her when she's not feeling too good. While she keeps insisting she's alright and that she can handle everything herself, you keep insisting that she'd get some rest as you take care of everything.
In the end, you hunt down the abyss order with her and return to Mondstadt after. There are no words to describe Jean's feelings when she sees that everyone threw her a party so she can rest (everyone helped her, just like you did!).
When she says her final dialogue "I hope you will continue to join us on that path, y/n" She hears a voice call out to her, a voice that reassures her that she'd always have someone to cover her back if she needs to.
The next time she sees a golden star in the sky she reaches out.
"Will you let me join you on your adventure as well?"
There are multiple moments during the Chasm quest where Xiao feels like he failed you.
You aura lingers around the traveller, someone he sworn to protect, a promise he also made to you, and yet he has so much trouble reaching out to you. From having to rest because he got wounded, to having karmatic debt leak out of him, and to not having a solution to return back aboveground; Xiao seems to have a moment where he truly struggles with himself internally.
When there’s finally a way out he pushes forward, not thinking about the sacrifice he’s willing to make.
And that’s the moment where he feels the aura move away from the traveller and towards him.
With his last strength he teleports everyone on the platform away, traveller included, but you’re still there. Is this your final goodbye to him?
He closes his eyes and welcomes the warm feeling your give him. And yet, perhaps because the Creator isn’t ready to say goodbye yet, a new energy brings him back up to the surface.
As the party regroups aboveground, the quest continues. Your aura has shifted back to the traveller and when a private moment arises he’d approach both you and the traveller to explain what happened. And with that the quest ends.
But you’re still there next to him.
He can’t bring up the courage to look you in the eyes but it’s enough.
It’s enough having you by his side.

⛑ for Adrian
Gauze
This is not entirely "tender" first aid, but I hope it's coming close.
Blanca takes care of Adrian's wounds.
[Pet Safety]
Content: BBU, BBU recovery, some light medical whump (as in, wound cleaning), very vaguely mentioned torture.
Bea was a quick learner and utterly unimpressed by the sight of wounds. Adrian's stomach got queasy even imagining what the holes ripped into his neck and shoulder like l looked like. The calming rhythm of Bea's breath on his skin didn't waver though. "Shhh," she mumbled, when he flinched under her touch. "You'll be better soon. You're healing."
He wondered where she'd learned such softness. She'd never been treated with it herself.
"Still hurts," he replied through clenched teeth. His voice was still rough.
"Healing hurts." Bea took another swab, applied disinfectant, and went to the clean next wound.
Adrian winced when it touched raw skin.
"You're not very good with pain," she observed. "Your scars say you should be used to it."
"Being used to it-" Adrian sucked in a breath when the swab brushed over an infected spot. "-does... doesn't make it better."
"Hmm," Bea hummed. "They never taught you to stop whining and keep smiling?"
"No," Adrian grimaced. "Who taught you that? The handlers?"
"Everyone," she said nonchalantly. "So they could make it a challenge to make me cry anyway. You, however - Making you cry wouldn't be a challenge at all, Adrian Delgado."
"Oh?" He tried to smirk at her, as well as he could without turning his head and putting even more strain on his wounds. "Is that what you're doing?"
Bea clicked her tongue. "I'm trying to not make you cry. That is my challenge. You're making it hard." She prepared another wipe. "Almost half way done. Next one is the deepest."
Almost half. Three out of seven wounds in total, where the desperate Guard Dog's titanium enforced teeth had pierced through Adrian's protective clothes and dug into his skin. He'd been lucky, the doctors had assured him. Without armour, the Guard would've have ripped his throat out.
Disinfectant stung at the next place.
Bea worked calmly and efficiently.
"Titanium teeth," she stated. "Only for the best Fighters. Going right for the neck. Like the Fighters are made to attack."
"Fighter isn't a WRU designation." Adrian sucked in another breath, when Bea's hands moved to a wound on his shoulder.
"Chewtoy isn't one either, you said." She pressed the disinfectant-soaked swab onto the last wound. "Your company's rules aren't universal."
His face contorted into something between a pained grimace and a frown. "What... what do you know about Fighters?"
Bea dropped the used swab into a bag. "That's a strange question to ask. There's a lot to know, probably. But all I know is, they're dangerous, and they're sad." She looked up and gave a half shrug. "But all pets are sad, so that's normal."
"How... How do you know that?"
"You feel it. In-"
"Not that they're sad. I meant... how did you meet Fighters?"
"Jack's Guard Dogs, they all fight." She tilted her head. "That's why he gave me to them. When they won."
Adrian let his head sink back and closed his eyes. Of course they were. Of course he did. Jack was just the type for that. And Adrian's boss had just made him drop the investigation.
"The... the sixth one, too?"
"Mac." Blanca's brow furrowed, even though her voice softened. "Mac's at the arena. He's, um." She pulled at her shirt and twisted to expose a scar on the back of her neck, and shoulder. A half moon of circular scars, arranged in a way too familiar pattern. "He's got enforced teeth, too."
Adrian swallowed against the sudden lump in his throat. "Why?," he asked.
"Jack told him to." She rubbed the scars. "It wasn't... it wasn't bad. He didn't bite down hard. Not like the one who hurt you. He... he didn't do it for love. Mac..." She shrugged. "He held back." Decidedly, she reached for a package of gauze. "You'd have cried anyway, Adrian Delgado." Her smile is teasing, soft, but it doesn't reach her eyes. "I didn't."
Bea lifted her hands to apply the bandage, but Adrian put a hand on hers to stop her.
"Bea. I..." He bit his lip, calling up the image of Jack, his ranch, his cowboy boots, his sickening smile, the drop of his voice when he'd tried to bribe Adrian, the gleam of the signet ring that had taken Bea's eye. He'd wanted to take that man down, even before he'd met the person behind the Chewtoy. "I want to help Mac."
I want to destroy Jack, he thought.
She shook her hand free and unwrapped the gauze. "Why?"
"Because it's the right thing."
Because I want to take everything away from Jack and see him fucking lose.
"You don't even know Mac." Her fingers were oddly cool, when she pressed the bandage on his skin and started to wrap the gauze around his neck. "He's angry."
"So am I."
Her finger was under his chin, lifting his face to look at her. There was something hard in her gaze. "Mac is not nice, Adrian. He does not want to be helped."
"Do you want to help him, Bea?"
The question seemed to catch her off guard. Her eyes widened a bit, before she shook her head. "I'm a pet. I... He... He's Jack's and I... I can't." She shook her head again. "No, Sir."
"Why?"
Something like anger flared up in her eye. "A pet doesn't care about another pet. A pet cares for nothing but her owner. A pet is loyal only to her owner. A pet-" Her voice had become flat, mechanical almost.
"Okay," Adrian whispered and lifted his hand, changed to his other hand when the strain at his wound reminded him of his limitations. Gently, he rested his fingers to her cheek. "Okay, Bea, it's alright, I won't ask this again tonight."
She closed her eye at his touch and weakly nodded. "I just want to be good," she mumbled. Light caught in her lashes, broke on a single tear. "Please, Master Adrian. Allow me to be good."
"Okay." He brushed away the tear. "Okay."
"Thank you," she whispered.
"Little show-off," he remarked softly. "It's not so hard to make you cry after all, is it."
She chuckled a little bit against his chest, and it just vaguely sounded like a sob. "I'm not done with your wounds yet." She pulled back and looked up at him. "Don't make me change my careful approach, Adrian Delgado."
He turned his head, baring his neck to her to finish with the bandage.
He'd promised her to not ask again tonight. That didn't mean he wouldn't dig into it, right after she went to sleep. He'd find the sixth Guard Dog. He'd get him out of this arena, all of them. And he'd watch fucking Jack Donnell go to court for what he'd done.
A grim smile crept up on his face.
By his side, Bea tugged at the gauze, a tiny bit too harshly, bandage pressing against raw skin, and he let out a strangled whine.
"Told you," she mumbled into his ear. "Too easy."
Luckily, he couldn't turn his head.
Otherwise, he was pretty sure he wouldn't have been able to resist the overwhelming urge to kiss her.

Got some TWST-related content underneath the cut~
Okay, so there's something I've been thinking about for a while now that I've finally decided to make a post about since it's better for my brain to just write out these kinds of thoughts/ideas lol
I've been wondering, what if it's possible for UM to experience the kinda growth that Quirks do? Like, just as heroes can improve their Quirks via training, what if that can be done to a certain degree with UM?
I just really like the idea of Yuu finding herself in the kinda position where she can help her friends strengthen their UM if they so desire to do that, like what Fortune does with her students and their Quirks.
The main person I think of when I picture this kinda scenario is Kalim since I feel like there's so much potential with his UM.
For starters, he can create all that rain with just a little of his magic, which makes me wonder what would happen if he purposely used more magic than necessary. Would the the rain last longer? Would it rain even harder?
I didn't mention this in my Book 4 summary post cause this idea hadn't crossed my mind at the time, but I like the idea of Yuu asking those questions out of curiosity after she learns about Kalim's UM.
Even though she's not in a teaching position in this AU, Yuu has grown up constantly trying to improve herself and become stronger for the sake of survival, and she's always studying her opponents' abilities in order to properly gauge what kinda threat they are to her.
Plus, there were times when she'd offer advice to all the poor kids in the underworld who were younger than her and suffering because they just weren't cut out for fighting like she was.
So, as a result, Yuu just automatically finds herself analyzing people's abilities, and this leads to her making observations and asking questions.
After Kalim first shows off his UM in Book 4, Yuu asks these questions, and he's very surprised since he really never gave much thought into what his UM could do if he used more magic.
And when he says that he never really thought much of his UM since it doesn't seem very useful to him, Yuu is quick to tell him how useful it could be to others who don't have access to water since, despite what he thinks, those types of people still do exist.
Plus, Yuu thinks Kalim's UM could also be useful to him if he were to find a way to increase how much rain he can produce.
For example, if Kalim ever found himself in a dangerous situation, he could summon a torrential downpour the likes of which make it hard for anyone to see anything around them, and while his attacker is caught off guard, Kalim could make his escape.
If it was possible for Kalim to summon enough water to actually knock someone to their knees, that would be even better, but Yuu figures the first idea would be more feasible between the two.
Kalim is fascinated by Yuu's ideas since those kinds of thoughts would've never crossed his mind, and I feel like, because of his experience with kidnappings, etc, he'd take an interest in being able to have this method of escape that doesn't involve hurting anyone.
Fast forward to Jamil's final OB battle, Kalim is bound and determined to do whatever he can to save Jamil. He convinces Yuu to let him work as a distraction along with her and Grim rather than just let himself be protected by her while the Octatrio take care of battling Jamil's Phantom.
I just really love the idea of Kalim taking a stand in this moment. He wants to fight alongside Yuu and do everything he can to save Jamil. He's used to being protected, but this time, he wants to do the protecting.
Because she wants to respect his feelings, Yuu agrees to team up with Kalim, and she's the one who brings up the conversation they both had about his UM the other day.
Yuu knows it's a shot in the dark, but she really wants to give the idea a try since that has the potential to catch Jamil off guard and provide the opening she needs.
Kalim immediately agrees to try her idea, so while Yuu takes care of distracting Jamil along with Grim, Kalim starts the incantation for his UM and begins pumping out more magic than usual in hopes that this will have some kind of effect on his UM's final product.
Fortunately, much to Kalim's amazement and Jamil's disbelief, Kalim is able to summon a heavy downpour, but it only lasts for a moment because this is Kalim's first time doing this, and this is something that requires more practice to fine-tune.
Thankfully, because of her Quirk, Yuu had foreseen Kalim's success, so she had already started running toward Jamil before the downpour started.
As a result, during the brief period of time when Jamil's vision is hampered thanks to the rain, Yuu is able to approach him and punch him hard in the face, at the same time Azul and the others finally take down Jamil's Phantom, resulting in Jamil's defeat.
I just really like the idea of Kalim contributing more to the final battle, so I wanted to change things up a little bit and have that development with his UM that's so full of potential.
I also love the thought of, after Book 4 events, Kalim secretly approaching Yuu and asking her to help him train his UM because he wants to become stronger and surprise/impress Jamil. And he's hoping he'll also be able to help people down the line by strengthening his UM.
I think it'd be cool if through training Kalim could create downpours when he needs them and also eventually gain the ability to summon rain in small select areas and just focus all his magic on the one area that needs rain, like an empty well for example.
Even though not a lot of time passes in between the two books, I'd love for this training to bear fruit in Book 5 during Vil's OB battle since I really want Kalim to get a chance to shine by having him use his UM in the battle since he could use his rain during moments when Vil tries to use poison gas on everyone, and he could hamper Vil's vision as well.
Kalim can't do this too much, of course, since it's more taxing to use his UM when he pours a lot of magic into it, but he's still able to help out a lot with his UM.
His actions completely catch Jamil off guard, and while he'd never admit it, Jamil is a little impressed with Kalim's growth. Of course, he'll still chide Kalim about overdoing it and order him to not do anything reckless/dangerous since he's still in charge of keeping Kalim safe lol
Because of how well he did during that battle, Kalim continues to train with Yuu after Book 5 events since he wants to impress Jamil even more, and I feel like he'd see this as a way he can become more of an equal with Jamil since he wants to become a more capable mage like Jamil.
Plus, if Kalim can use his UM to protect himself, that means less work for Jamil, and Jamil won't have to put himself in danger for his sake, which would definitely be a big motivator for Kalim.
Yuu is all too happy to help Kalim train whenever he asks since she likes being able to help him, and she thinks it's good for him to have a goal for himself that he can strive toward that can only be reached through his own efforts and can't be done by other people or solved with money.
I just think this would be a nice addition to Kalim's character development arc in my A Twisted Future series ^^

Oh, i guess it's a good moment to talk about my Percy Jackson x Danganronpa AU, isn't it ? Or even My SCP au if you have some idea i won't be against it, i have a small Idea for my girl Sakura and a very small Idea for Chihiro but beside that i have nothing. (Well, there's still Taka, Mondo and Peko who are written but they are still in review, i started to think about Taka's early life so it might change from the original one lol) and yeah, i may also want to hear about Patches (that's her name right-)
It's definitely a good time to hear about both! Or whichever you wanna talk about more. And if you wanna hear about Patches, then I can do that! Her stuff is pretty short and I'll try my best to not ramble as much. (I've rambled so much on a Yu-Gi-Oh PowerPoint that I just can't stop.)
'Kay, well...hmmm.
Patches was born, but her parents weren't in the picture as her earlier memories were of the lab. And her entire life was in this lab. Her and group of many others were basically tested on every day. It wasn't clear as to why or what they were researching and experimenting on them as everyone had different experiments to go through. And Patches was tested on being created to be a super weapon that can basically destroy the universe.
Throughout her life she was tested and abused by the scientists there. Everyday it was something awful. And everyday it was something that could either have killed her or just injured her in a way. She hated it. She always found herself daydreaming or looking at books about the outside world. She always dreamed to one day finally break out and live her life as a normal human. She'd name herself, maybe even get a job, find someone and be happy. She dreamed of being someone else, she wasn't OE-256, she was herself.
She wasn't the girl who could one day maybe wipe out humanity. She was...herself.
When she escaped, she couldn't remember what really happened. She remembers the fire. The screaming of terror. The burning and scarring she felt. She can't remember if everyone she helped free got out. Or how many people she killed.
She just remembers seeing the lab crash down and burn away. The awful memories finally being just memories. She finally felt free and safe. Her entire childhood and some of her adulthood was wasted away in there. She was glad to see it fall down. In a hazy daze, she finds herself in a city where she meets a man. They bump into each other and they scramble about. The man notices her scars and starts to fuss over them, much to her irritation. She doesn't want his help. He's some rando who just so happened to bump into her and notice her scars.
It made her feel self-conscious.
It irritated her more.
She then finds herself in his home. She doesn't know what to think. She's worried he might know something and would try to kill her or something. But he's kind and caring. Helping her out with her scars. Newspaper. That's his name. It was odd. But then again, she couldn't say anything. Especially with the name she picked for herself. 'Patches.' She was drawn to the word. It was...an interesting word to her.
She wonders if this is what being normal felt like. Having someone worry about you like this. Not leaving you to die or bleed out that you have to help yourself with whatever materials you could use. As the two grow close, she wonders if she's a danger to him. She's scared to get closer to him as she doesn't know of what she's capable of. But his kind words and worry-free personality makes her worries leave.
As she feels like she shouldn't worry. They were okay after all this time together. But she promised herself to take care of Newspaper and make sure he doesn't get hurt trying to protect her.
When it comes to outfits, she wears mostly a dress shirt with a cardigan and whatever pants she finds. She also wears a t-shirt along with some shorts. The only times she'll wear something else is for her modeling job or when her and Newspaper have to attend a party that they were invited to.
Her hobbies are just messing with Newspaper, eating and watching TV. She's also trying to get into sewing because she really likes looking at videos of people making plushies and other stuff.
She also has a birthday, but I don't remember it because it's been so long since I've actually thought about them djdben.

Chapter 20 of Harrow the Ninth
The Nook app has returned to gaslighting me: I flipped forward to Chapter 21 from Chapter 20, then flipped forward to the end of Chapter 21 and was greeted with Chapter 20 again. It took some flipping back and forth for it to return to normal. I don't know why it's so difficult to make something that fundamentally just renders HTML files
Tumblr media
I see the hidden narrator is getting uppity again. You know, there's actually a bunch of stuff in the early parts of this book that seems kind of self-deprecating, or self-conscious, the narrative saying that Harrow is not good enough, or looks funny carrying the sword on her back and so forth, and when I read those I though, that makes sense, Harrow is a perfectionist and has reasons to be self-conscious about her appearance because her role for a lot of her life relied on her projecting a certain appearance to maintain the fiction that her parents were still alive and all that, but I wonder how much of that is actually the hidden narrator criticizing her instead
Tumblr media
"On the reg" does not sound like something Harrow would actually say, that sounds a lot more like something Gideon would say. I did discount Gideon being the narrator a while back because of the lack of jokes and also the narrator generally not talking about necromancy like it was dumb and didn't matter, and the narrator being concerned about Harrow's negative feelings about flesh magicians, but now I dunno
I'm curious how she brought this up to him specifically, since obviously if she calls him "Ortus the First" John is just going to go "who's that?" unless he's figured out what she's done, which I think is unlikely
What authority does John not consider himself to have the power to gainsay? A.L.? She was described previously as a bodyguard, which seems like the kind of person who would ask Gideon the First to make a pact to protect John, at any rate
Why does Gideon the First think that Harrow is a danger to John? Because of something about the sword?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, we finally find out what happened to Anastasia. So, the Mithraeum must have been built before she attempted to become a Lyctor, if there was a place on it reserved for her, at least. I wonder what "she'd seen some pathways that simply didn't exist" means - did she think there might be another way to do it other than the way all the other Lyctors did it? Was that way a more horrific, or less horrific way than the correct way?
I gather this is what Mayonnaise Uncle maybe was referring to back in Gideon the Ninth - I guess Anastasia was supposed to end her life by walling herself up with the Body inside the Tomb, and instead founded a new House of goths on Pluto with a somewhat oddball version of the necromancy religion
It's interesting that John thinks Harrow might be familiar with the Body, since supposedly no one has ever opened the Tomb. Even if he knew the full truth somehow, I think he would then know that Harrow is way more familiar with the Body than the Tomb at this point, anyway. Or maybe he just knows, or suspects that she went in there once but doesn't know about all the other stuff she experienced, which is, after all, mostly in her head
Tumblr media
I can't work out if this constitutes a confession of "yes I did open the Tomb" or not
Tumblr media
So this seems to be from a Poe poem about how the woman that some dude loved died because she was unfairly murdered by angels who were jealous of their love and then he worshiped her like a god, which sounds like a like, just incredibly well-adjusted take on that
But the initials of Annabel Lee are A.L., and this is supposed to be in answer to Harrow's question about who is buried in the Tomb. Does this poem accurately represent John's feelings about A.L., and is A.L. the person buried in the Tomb? This doesn't seem to match up, because the person buried in the Tomb is supposed to be John's ancient enemy, and also he described her as a monster. Or maybe he thinks the person in the Tomb killed A.L., and that's why she's his enemy and also a monster? Or maybe he just has a really weird relationship with her

okay more Baldur's gate things because I'm definitely adding my Lex (half elf, wizard, criminal past, supposedly into knowedge?? the summary is: she's a weirdo with a personal code and lots of tadpoles) to my multi and yesterday it was hilarious:
I saved the thiefling and that's all that matters to me/Lex (don't know what I'll do when I'll try a less 'gotta protect the underdog even though I'm supposed to be a criminal' person), though I may have skipped forward too fast for a level 3 character in act 1 by killing all the goblin leaders, including the one we could have apparently recruited if letting those innocents be slaughtered. No wonder she gets along with Wyll best.
I had Volo rip her eye out by accident when pushing him to go on with his crazy experiment to remove the tadpole so now she can see invisibility with her prosthetic one. No, I will not be taking criticism or questions at this time (I need to rp the after because she was impossibly chill about it and that's canon)
Lae'zel came onto her??? Is that how you say when someone basically tells you she'd like to jump your bones? which is literally out of nowhere because as much as Lex finds her funny in my head, they disagree about everything, but because Lex didn't run away from giant fights (which I HATED, I was forced to, and I'm pretty sure Lex didn't want to do given her background) she was into her???? Obviously if I rp I won't ask another rper to replicate that, just to know that Lex would keep her and the others forever and have weird adventures because FUN. Also Lex NEVER takes her threats seriously nor shows all that respect, mostly she makes smartass or amused comments, but also got in the way so Shadowheart wouldn't kill her and won't criticize her for her way to live.
Shadowheart woken Lex up at night when almost killing Lae'zel WHILE SHE SLEPT (after the artifact fight) and she was saying she'd claim La'zel had started changing, so while I interrupted the fight peacefully there is no way Lex specifically as a character would ever grow super close/trust her again? I headcanon Lex is fine with people keeping their secrets, she does it too, but betraying trust and companions and lying about it, and the 'attacking a companion while they sleep'? Against her code. Even if she feels affection for her, she hasn't forgotten that Shadowheart wasn't exactly joking when she said 'huh I'd kill you right away' after Lex told her that if she (Shadow) turned she'd tie her up and go find a cure for her. She tries not to disrespect her faith and supports her, let her keep the artifact (and saved her on the ship at the beginning) so she thought they were getting closer, but this crossed the line even if Lex will still treat her as a friend and defend her.
Tumblr media
ASTARION IS SO FUNNY. I stand by the idea that 'Lex will insult/roll her eyes at him at all times, but violently protect him with her life, she feels she's the only one who can be like 'shut the fuck up, Astarion' and won't let anyone else mistreat him unless it's a friendly thing, even told the others to trust him when they learned he's a vampire. I like the idea that she's very "I'm not buying any of your crap" to him, while unable to stop smiling at him and secretly worrying for him. Also I feel that when he sensed that she wasn't about to suggest sex at the druids party he was like 'I want sex... NOT WITH YOU' only because she wasn't giving him the vibe she'd say yes, otherwise they'd probably be considering it, even if it's just casually? Astarion was shockingly offended by Gale's reveal because 'he didn't tell his FRIENDS he was dangerous' he used the words "friends", he focused on that, me as a player and Lex as a character are so intrigued by that, considering that Lex herself didn't feel that personally slighted by Gale not telling the truth in general, just not liking that he might die nor that he didn't tell them he could "erupt" (also, if there had been a dialogue option for it, she'd have been like "you didn't tell you were a vampire and tried to bite me while I slept??" She gave him permission to do it once because she's a weirdo and it hurt, but it was such a dangerous thing). By the way, she told Astarion she can suck the enemies' blood but not hers, because it DID hurt and because she's not going to give her literal blood to people. She kinda looks at him softly when they are not bantering so there is that, and she drank his wine so. Weirdest relationship.
Tumblr media
Wyll got horns and she's into the demon look. No but seriously, Wyll is the one she effortlessly gets along with and she likes so much (because they are both heroic even if she's not supposed to be) even though I accidentally started romancing Gale. She still thinks so very highly of Wyll even after knowing about him making a mysterious deal with the devil, never knew she wanted to be heroic too until meeting him and realizing she was choosing to fight for others all the time, the way no one ever fought for her. So help me god if the others don't rally up for her if she gets in danger.
Tumblr media
Karlack is going to be her best friend, I can feel it. But she just arrived and I don't know much.
We are in love with the dog.
I know nothing of Minthara, I killed her right away to protect the tieflings.
I have Halsin in my camp but considering I didn't directly save him, I don't know him much

I ACCIDENTALLY started romancing Gale to see if he'd respond well (when they performed a spell that bonded them a bit, so I reasoned she got a bit lost in it, and conjured the image of them having a romantic walk? she's weirdly sweet?) but I can feel that once he revealed his secret Lex pulled back because he not only hid it for so long, but can't deal with the 'sleeping with a goddess wasn't enough' which makes her think of how many tadpoles she put in her brain, even if she's still very friendly to him and kinda flirty, and I'm so curious to see where it'd go, but I think this was too big of a secret for her??

We got Withers, Lex still can't believe a magical corpse is trying to get her money. He's is the equivalent of that guy in Spyro who asks you lots of diamonds to build bridges. It's hilarious.
Tumblr media
Lex is shoving tadpoles in her head, she WANTS to be a cool wizard and I headcanon it's to protect herself because she lived a life of rejection and hunger, but in the end she's slipping into I NEED POWER TO SURVIVE. Yet she refuses to abandon companions who are a threat.
I literally made this post her unofficial about page in my multi.

v7/v8 made me dislike ruby a lot but v9 made me really side with her. i've been in her shoes, with having to put on a strong happy face for everyone because their problems always seem to be bigger than mine.
but to see yang walk ahead of blake to shield her from ruby really broke me. like?? do you not know your own sister?? do you genuinely think she'd harm her own teammate??
blake doesn’t need protection, and it’s weird how yang tries to shield her like ruby is about to hurt her. i get bumbleby's whole thing is "we're protecting each other"
but that doesn't mean go and protect blake (who has shown she can hold her own in a verbal argument anyway) against your own sister, yang!
sorry for the rant, i just am in shock that this was written and executed this way with no one thinking of how ruby would feel from this. ruby was somehow more effected by jaune's rant (which, while valid, doesn't change the fact that jaune basically held a whole town hostage for 10-20 years) than by yang shielding blake.
i also grew to dislike ruby in v7 and 8 because of her hypocrisy (that got half addressed before dropped) and her attempt to talk down all the adults and take over before making situations way way worse. however i do agree that i also began to sympathize with her in volume 9, and it felt like her actions were finally being addressed while also showing that maybe she isn't suited to be the leader like she and everyone else thought.
the whole yang vs ruby thing angered me. i'm sorry, but YANG? the actual hothead who trashes clubs, assaults grown adults, destroys government property, charges into battle headfirst. that yang? meanwhile ruby is the kindest, sweetest person, who despite being socially anxious, tried her best to make friends and impress others. the kind, quirky girl who loves cool weapons and adores the adults in her life and wants desperately to be like the heroes in fairy tales?
yes, as I addressed, she started fumbling as the weight of the world finally started to get to them, she charged through situations half-baked, thinking she knew what was best because it's what everyone expects of her. but at her heart she's still a kind, simple soul who is meant to see the light in every situation, and yet the moment she started losing sight of that, wondering if she truly made mistakes, the friends that propped her up as the best leader and someone they looked up to, they let her fall.
yang, who grew up with her sister, who knows her inside and out. yang, who went into this FOR ruby, insisted she only took part to make sure her little sister was safe. that same yang turning against that said sister she fought so hard to find is astounding to me. her sister is falling apart at the seams, having panic attacks and an identity crisis and struggling with guilt and shame and the horrifying thought that she made the world worse and helped salem grow closer to victory. and yang instead steps up to defend blake.
ruby has never been a threat, not like this. ruby screaming and crying and having a reasonable and justified meltdown after everything she's been through should not be met with yang putting herself between her sister and girlfriend, nor should it have been brushed aside.
it bothers me because the show and fans insist adamantly that yang is the greatest big sister, but then say that yang doesn't have to always be there for ruby and that she's allowed to make time for blake. nobody said that yang wasn't allowed to spend time with blake, the issue was this. the issue was that yang sensed her own sister as a dangerous threat and stepped between her and blake as if ruby is the one with anger issues who flies off the handle and attacks anyone and anything with said anger. it's ridiculous.
yang sat there while her sister fell apart and did and said nothing beyond limp "are you okay?" the person who actually tried to be there for ruby was weiss, despite the flawed writing of her character. i'll give her credit there. but imagine your team partner trying to comfort you over your own sister who is too busy making googly eyes at her girlfriend or defending said girlfriend against you.
i didn't watch the last two episodes so i'm not gonna touch on that, but yang throughout this volume showed where exactly her priorities lie.

Alright CL. This one is very self indulgent so feel free not to answer it but I was wondering how your OCs would react to Heaven? Would they get along well?
Okay, so there are going to be multiple characters answering because...well, they are excited for this. They are from 3 different storylines - @theimperiumchronicles (obviously), @bombsbodyguardsbroken (multiple), and @magical-mistakes-vm. So...here we go!!
I'm going to break this down by storyline, and then by character
@theimperiumchronicles
Abriella -
Brie would love her! She's fierce, she's protective, she loves Arthur scars and all. Brie would be like, YES SISTER, come on in, bring the human and I'll boost whatever magic you need. Need me to bring back some ancestors from the dead, I'm a necromancer bitch!
Cassandra -
ANOTHER WITCH!! OMG!! Do you do naked moon dances? How do you scry? Do you do blood magic or crystal magic? I'm mated to Lucifer, YES...THE LUCIFER?! Need help?? You have a direct line, babes!! Let's have tea and dish!
Arch -
He would observe and be cautious. He is not into dark arts, but is a mage, so he mixes potions, crystals, poultices, and mystical powers. He is very protective of Cruz and Abriella. As long as she is not a threat to them, he might engage her in discussions regarding her magic, if she needs protective amulets for Arthur and herself, any charms or potions/poultices and the like.
Arioch -
Arioch, the demon of revenge is going to see her like a little sister. He'll be protective and assist her in keeping Arthur safe, maybe even doing her dirty work for her, keeping her hands clean. Being able to do the work from the other side of the veil, there will be no trace of how it was done or who did it. He's a demon after all, so it's not like the blame can be left on the human side. They'll get along wonderfully.
Lucifer -
He'll sit back and wait for Cass and Heaven to need something. Imagine him sitting back on a chair, legs outstretched, smirk on his face, arms crossed over his chest, and just shaking his head. That's Luc. He's just amused his woman is excited as hell.
Jasper -
*sigh* Jasper is probably the first one to get stabbed. He's...he's Jasper and he'd be himself. He likes to test limits. Once he'd been an ass enough, he'd love the fuck out of her and take her under his wing like Arioch. He'd help her take care of Arthur and since he plays in the world of the Blinders with Anna and her friendship with Rose & Alfie, he can help run interference without her having to kill Alfie. Doesn't want to upset Anna now.
Anna -
Anna would want to help Arthur because she always wants to fix the broken, so she'd rope in Jean Pierre and Armaund (so we'll just thrown them in with Anna). In that way, they'd just bring Heaven into the fold like a broken person too. She's been damaged and hurt in the past and they'd just love her and try to protect her too. She might be the one that stabs Jasper, it wouldn't be the first time.
Kellen -
Kellen would be curious. Cautious, but curious. He'd want to know where her powers came from and why she is so quick to use them offensively. He'd want her and Arthur to come to the Uffernian Palace so he could study her. Safety for both of them would be promised so he could learn more about her history and magic. The only reason curiosity hasn't killed this panther is he's a very powerful demon.
Grae -
Unlike his boss, Grae would be on guard. He would keep Ada far away from her or Arthur. He's already protective of her, but if he thought she'd be in any danger from a woman who's ready to kill if she thinks Arthur is in any danger, not a chance. He's still trying to figure out Ada's powers so he would not risk it. He'd be careful around her too. Grae knows what he means to Ada, which means he would not risk angering the witch.
Dartan -
If he managed not to get killed, again, I think they'd get along. He was a powerful warlock in his first life so they would have much to discuss. However he has the personality of rough grit sandpaper against raw skin.
Amaya -
Amaya at first would be a little trepidatious, I mean the last spell she did DID end her up in literal hell and married to Dartan..ish. So, she'd be friendly but kind of skittish and shy. Once she felt a little more comfortable, I think they'd be great friends. If Dartan can keep from being, well, the current Dartan, then I think they could be a great foursome, like two couple friend group. Hell would have no fury like the four of them in Small Heath. Dartan is going to help Amaya with her magic eventually so if they were to meet after that, they'd be crazy deadly, like they could take all the Sabinis out in one swoop kind of deadly.
Mithos -
Mithos is another vengeance demon AND he is Co-Captain of the Queen's Royal Guard. The vengeance demon part of him is going to adore her and her style. The guardian side of him is going to totally understand her protection of Arthur. If you have read the scene I posted the other day where Brie almost went into Stasis you know how far he'll go for those he cares about. He will kill and he will die for Abriella, any day any time. So he would understand, and he would help her. He honors those who have love and loyalty.
Seren -
Seren is the Princess Royal and daughter of an ex of Korben that went on to marry one of his good friends and now is a "gift" to him that was originally to be his ward. Yeah...complicated. She's also been sent to study at the Mage Consortium in Uffern. (I have a spreadsheet to keep it all straight when my brain stops working...seriously) ANYWAY...she would find Heaven absolutely fascinating. First, the magic. Seren holds innate magic she's been using her whole life, so she'd want to talk to her about her skills, and how she got them. The whole history. She'd find the treatment of Heaven's family horrific. Then would come her protection of Arthur. This would be a foreign concept to Seren. She's always been a tool. Her mother was a tool, an object, a means to an end. She would adore Heaven, but not understand her love and protection of Arthur.
*****
@bombsbodyguardsbroken
Melania -
The daughter of Marie LaVeau magic is no secret to her, she's seen the darkest of the dark. She's called upon the ancestors herself. She understands protecting those she loves and would want to help Haven if she could. Make it so that she feels safe and that Arthur is safe. She also knows what it's like to not be able to trust family. Mel was killed the first time by the woman who she thought was her mother, requiring Marie to resurrect her, which is when she learned who her true family was. In the current story she will end up being forced to kill one brother and try to kill her true father. So, loyalty is paramount to her.
Dontanion -
A powerful Voodoo Priest, he is the most powerful of the family. He would be interested in Heaven's abilities. He would even offer to show her some protections she might not be aware of and ways to invoke the ancestors and beings from the other side of the veil. And wait till Heaven meets Fluffy!
Francois -
While not as powerful as his brother, his energy is darker and he is more intimidating. Both brothers had to stand by as Melania grew up, unable to tell her who they truly were and also unable to intercede in many things that happened that hurt her. Now the truth is out, they too protect her the way that Heaven wants to protect Arthur. He too would want to help her and develop/strengthen her magic in ways to help her protect him. Also in ways to help her heal the trauma of his past so the demons are held at bay longer.
Mama Marie -
Marie LaVeau herself, the most powerful Voodoo Priestess that has ever existed, and ever will. The Queen of the Bayou. She would accept Heaven as a child of hers, no matter who birthed Heaven or what she had done in the past. She is a soul who need love and practices the craft, that is all Marie needs to know. She adopts lost souls and gives them a home and a mom to come to when they need. She would try to gently guide Heaven where she could, and support her. Give Heaven the family that she had stolen in the past, the love and support a mother can, and welcome Arthur in as well.
@magical-mistakes-vm
Vollrath -
As a Master Warlock, Vollrath would see it as his duty to ensure that Heaven had everything she needed but also that she was not going too far, which might cause conflict. He can be...abrupt/abrasive/an asshole. He comes from a good place but his people skills suck ass. Mahala is going to work on that, but...I think it would go badly, but yeah... However, anyone coming after Heaven would die, and die very ugly. He would not ask questions, he would not give second chances. You come after a witch in his territory and your life is forfeit, whether he and the witch are on good terms is not a variable in the equation.
Mahala -
In contrast Mahala would be in awe. She would have a gazillion questions and just want to know everything. Heaven would be instantly accepted just as she was. Arthur would be loved as like a big brother. Mahala would offer them a family like bond, and want to learn from Heaven to help protect Arthur too, and even to protect Heaven from anyone who came after her. She'd see anyone coming after Heaven as the hunters that Vollrath has mentioned. And, Vollrath said they have to die...so.... *CRINGE*
SOOO...that is how my OC's would see her. At least the ones that immediately went ME ME ME ME ME ME...If any more of them pop up my brain might just turn to pudding. LMAO

“  i can’t even take the very thought of you getting hurt.  ” Picard to beverly
Tumblr media
there's a vulnerability to his tone that beverly hasn't heard in . . . quite a while. a softness that he seems to only afford once behind the closed doors of his quarters. she'd joined him for dinner and they'd cleared away the plates not long ago; beverly has taken up her usual residence on the sofa near the window with the remains of her glass of wine. she's done her best to avoid the elephant in the room (the borg) and failed - though his last utterance has certainly made her pause. she's guarded, careful - she's acutely aware of the fine line that still exists between personal and professional and the fear she has of it blurring together, that anything personal will impact their careers. they've carefully navigated it so far, but with the borg she's terrified it's going to come to a head. terrified that one of them is not going to make it out of this alive.
"starfleet always has it's risks. we both knew that when we signed up." she finds her voice, quiet, before she lifts her glass to her lips again. they've had this conversation before. too many times. and in truth she's starting to wonder how many more are on the horizon, how much longer they can circle around each other before something inevitably breaks.

she's lost so much because of starfleet and it's risks. beverly's starting to wonder, too, how much longer before it claims her. it's certainly tried to claim jean-luc. and she's scared. she doesn't know how many more times she can patch him up, heal his wounds, protect him before he turns up in her medbay with injuries beyond even her capabilities. and still, the quiet softness to his tone, his admission, makes her pause. she has to keep herself from smiling bitterly because the darker part of her already thinks good, then you know how it feels. how unbearable it is to see you throw yourself headlong into danger.
"the universe needs peace. you need peace, jean-luc. and you know i've always been willing to do what it takes." she sets her glass down on the coffee table, shifting to cross one leg over the other. "what else would you have me do? i cannot be idle or useless when there is something i can do. you of all people know that." swallowing back her emotions, beverly continues.
"can i tell you something?"
she doesn't wait for an answer.
"i can't fix what the borg did to you. i can't sever your connection to the collective, the imprint they've left on you. but i can destroy them. rip them out, root and stem, in the only way i know how. you've given so much of yourself to this universe. put through so much that no one else could possibly ever understand." she picks up her glass again, drains the rest of it. "i won't let you sacrifice yourself to this, not again. not now, when i can do it in your place. because there are so many in this universe who owe you, who love you. so many, and so much. and by no one more than me."
