Catching Munson - Eddie Munson
Tumblr media
Paring: Eddie Munson x Fem!Henderson!Reader
Warning: 18+, Smut, Overprotective Dustin, Masturbation, Oral Sex, Blowjob, Vaginal Sex, Creampie
A/N: I've been writing like crazy for Munson because this man has stolen my whole heart! I haven't been able to watch this new season, so please, go easy on me. <3
You walked through the school's cafeteria with your little brother Dustin, heading towards your usual table where all the members of Hellfire were sitting.
Dustin was a little upset that Eddie Munson was flirting with you this morning after class. You found it adorable how overprotective he was of his big sister. But, he knew from the moment he introduced Eddie to you that he was going to be a big problem.
You could promise every time he caught Eddie winking at you or eyeing you from across the Hellfire table, Dustin would become extremely irritated.
That's why you and Eddie agreed to keep your relationship a secret because even though Dustin was best friends with Eddie and greatly looked up to him, he’d probably attempt to kill him if he found out his sweet, innocent older sister was dating Eddie Munson, the metal head weirdo, also rumored to be a “freak in the sheets,” by Munson himself when he was conversing with some of the older members of hellfire, trying his best to impress you.
The reality was, before you he did have much experience, besides the daily masturbation sessions he spent thinking about you.
“Just, please, don’t let Eddie flirt with you like that,” Dustin told you as you placed a hand on his shoulder and gave a reassuring smile.
“Alright, Dusty. I promise I won't let him.”
Eddie bit his inner cheek as he watched you walk over. His gaze was glued onto you, subtly staring at your body, especially your exposed thighs.
You and the freshman sat down at the table, and Eddie shot you a warm smile one that he showed no other person, only you.
Your heart fluttered as you shot him one back.
“Hey, Hendersons.” Eddie greeted.
“Mhm...” Dustin murmured, deciding to play the quiet game with Eddie for flirting with his sister.
You elbowed his arm softly but hard enough for him to get the point. “Ow-” He looked at you, gawking and groaning under his breath, “Hi, Eddie.”
“Is something wrong, Dustin? Is y/n beating you?” Gareth joked from across the table, earning a laugh from the rest of the group.
“No… I'm just thinking.”
Eddie sneakily slipped his hand under the table and slid it up to your bare thigh, resting his hand dangerously high, while he continued his conversation with Gareth and the two freshmen who joined in. His hand teasingly squeezed your flesh, making your body freeze as you unloaded your lunchbox.
Once Eddie noticed Dustin wasn’t in your direction, he leaned in close and whispered, “You coming over tonight, Sweetheart?”
“Not tonight, Ed’s. I have to watch Dusty.”
He dramatically sighed and gave you a little pout that made you softly chuckle at his childlike behavior.
Your mother was forcing you to stay home with your brother while she was having dinner with her friends. She didn't want her sweet, little man to be all alone.
Later that evening, she came home earlier than expected, so you decided to take your mom's car and lie, telling her that you were going to the movies with Robin, but really, you were heading over to Eddie’s to cuddle and smoke some weed.
You hopped out of the car, excited to surprise your boyfriend, and went to the front door. You knew his uncle wasn’t home, so you let yourself in using their key under the mat.
It was like second nature. The two of you became so used to walking in without knocking that Eddie almost got caught one time when he forgot your family was home. Luckily, he ran up the stairs into your room before Dustin and your mother saw.
You cautiously opened the front door, doing your best not to make too much noise as you snuck inside. You glanced around the living room. There was no sight of Eddie until you looked down the hallway towards his dimly lit bedroom. You could hear a faint rustling noise coming from his room, making your eyebrows furrow with confusion as you slowly took a couple of steps down the small hallway. You heard another outcry of noise and some mumbling that you couldn't make out until you stepped closer.
“Fuck, Y/n…” Eddie breathly grunted.
You froze for a second as realization hit you. Eddie was masturbating. You resisted yourself from entering and peaked your head into his poster-filled room, watching as Eddie's dominant hand eagerly wrapped around his length and stroked his cock. He was staring at one of the many naked polaroid photos he’d taken of you.
It was a picture he took of you before school. You had just woken up, and we're sitting back against the bed, only wearing his hellfire tee, your bent legs spread, giving him a view of your pantieless slit as you gazed at the camera with a small smile.
Eddie laid there, imagining your mouth was wrapped around his cock instead of his hand, your head bobbing against his cock, taking in every last inch. He tightened his grip just below the tip and tried his best to make the same movements you would as he pumped his cock, feeling pre-cum leaking down his underside and hand.
“Holy… Christ.”
The sight made wetness form in your underwear as you watched him, withering from the picture of you, his hips bucking in his hand, letting out little grunts and whimpers.
You hated to interrupt him, but you badly desired to give the poor boy what he craved, so you slowly stepped into the room and gently knocked on the doorframe.
“Jesus!” Eddie blurted out, jolting up in his bed as his head swung towards the door in a panic. His eyes widened, seeing you standing there, leaning against the door frame as you stared at his length, which was still clutched in his grip.
Eddie’s face immediately turned the brightest shade of red you’ve ever seen, “Y/n! W-what are you doing here?”
“I didn't have to babysit, so I thought I’d come over and surprise you.”
He sheepishly let go of himself after realizing and embarrassingly covered up with one of his old blankets, setting your picture aside.
“H-how long have you been standing there?”
“Long enough to know you were thinking about me.” You smirked, eyeing the standing bulge under his blanket that sat in his lap. The sight made your heart jump out of your chest. You yearned to have his cum filling your mouth, make him tremble beneath you as you suck that pretty cock of his.
“Want me to help you, Munson?” You asked innocently, walking over to his bed as you pulled your shirt over your head and tossed it across his messy room.
“Please.” He breathly sighed with relief, nodding eagerly as he slowly pulled the blanket off and watched you unclip your lacy bra.
Eddie admired your perfect, soft breasts. The sight made his cock ache as his warm pre-cum spilled down his manhood and dripped down his balls onto the mattress beneath him.
You crawled up and laid down between his thighs. Your fingers gently wrapped around the base of his cock and swirled your tongue around the head. The taste of his sweetened pre-cum spreads around in your mouth. Your lashes batting as you gazed up into the big brown eyes that stared back with lust, listening to him grunt, feeling you tease his pumping veins along his cock.
Eddie was already about to explode into euphoria just by watching you part your sensual, slickened lips and roll down his dick and engulf him in wet warmth.
You pushed your hand down your body and teasingly squeezed your breast, leaving little red marks against your skin as you did. Your throat vibrated around him as you let out a low moan, toying and pinching your nipples.
Eddie adored watching you suck him off. He loved the way your mouth worked against him, how you knew exactly what he needed, and how your lips grew to become swollen with his cum trickling down them.
You took his whole length, feeling his pulsing tip hit the back of your throat as his dark brown pubic hair tickled your nose. You began bobbing your head up and down against his cock, mouth moving around him at a perfect pace.
“Don't stop, sweetheart, I'm gonna cum!” Eddie muttered, tangling his fingers within your hair.
You hollowed your cheeks around him and rocked your head at a faster speed. That was enough to make him release the built-up tension burning in his stomach. “Mhmyfuckinggod!” Eddie moaned, tossing his head back against his pillows.
His warm seed spilled out into your throat as his hips rapidly shook from after-shock. Your hand was pumping the base of his cock, getting out every last drop of his sweet tasing cum as you swallowed.
Eddie slowly pulled his dick out of your mouth and stared down at you with his adorable dilated eyes, his hand reaching down, gently tracing your wet, swollen lips with his thumb as you looked up at him with that innocent-looking gaze.
“Ride it, sweetheart.”
Your head bounced and did as you were told. You sat up and unbuttoned your pants, discarding your jeans and panties on the bed.
You crawled on top of him and positioned your knees on either side of his hips, placing your dripping cunt against his tip before slowly sitting down on it, feeling his cock push and fill you perfectly.
You let out a breathy moan as you put your hands on his chest, fingers clenching onto the fabric of his hellfire tee as your hips began rolling. Your pussy rode his cock, building a faster pace with every upward stroke.
Eddie watched you on top of him as you used him for your pleasure. Sweat dripped from his bangs that stuck to his forehead. His length hardened from the feel of your warm walls stretching around him. It was driving him wild. You looked like a fucking angel, an angel he was about to ruin.
He gripped your waist and steadied himself before lifting his hips and roughly driving his cock into you, hitting the perfect spot as he continued pounding into your tight cunt.
Your tits bounce up and down as you feel your body trembling, letting-out loud pornographic moans that fill the tiny trailer and the sounds of his small twin-size bed squeaking with each thrust as if it was about to break.
Your powerful orgasm ripped through your contracting cunt, spilling your white milky cum down his length.
The sensation was too perfect for Eddie to handle. His thrusting hips shook beneath you, and his eyes rolled to the back of his head as he spilled his warm seed inside you, filling you to the brim.
Your body slumped over, his chest against yours while the two of you caught your breaths and rode through your highs.
Cum slowly split down his length and dripped onto the mattress beneath the two of you, marking the bed with little stains.
You were sleepy and still a little dazed after your strong orgasm, and Eddie knew it, so he held your waist, rolled you over on your back, and delicately slid himself out of your warmth. He leaned down, giving you a tender kiss on your forehead, bringing a soft smile to spread across your face.
“Let me get you a warm towel, princess.”
Eddie quickly hopped off the mattress and stepped out of the room, coming back with a clean towel wet with warm water. He cleaned you up and gave you little kisses across your shoulders as he did before throwing the rag across the room and grabbing your waist, pulling you back into his arms.
“You think your mom would let you stay with me the whole night?”
“Definitely not, unless you want my mom and Dusty finding out.”
Eddie paused, really taking a moment to think about it, before letting out a bummed-out sigh, “Yeah, that probably wouldn't be good…”
You looked down at his hand that was holding your waist and fidgeted with the ring on his middle finger, “... I could make up an excuse that I was too tired to drive home and was staying at Robin’s for the night.”
“Fuck yeah! We can cuddle all night, maybe smoke some weed, and watch movie before we fall asleep!” Eddie excitedly listed off the things as he smiled widely.
You lifted and gave him a sweet kiss against his plump lips, sure enough, that you probably weren't gonna make it throughout the movie before falling asleep in his arms from how cozy they were.
You slowly pulled away and shot him a little smile, “Sounds like a perfect night, Ed’s.”
-
It was 11:30 am when Dustin rode up to Eddie's trailer at the agreed-upon time. Dustin parked his bike beside the house just as he spotted his mother's car, parked in the driveway.
His mouth fell open. He knew you took the car and didn't come home last night.
Suddenly, you were awakened by a loud pounding on the front door and Dustin shouting from behind it. “Eddie! I swear to God if my sister’s in there…”
Your body shot up in bed, as did your boyfriend, and reached for the sheets, covering your nude body.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck!” Eddie muttered, running up and across the room, throwing his shirt and boxers on as fast as possible.
“Why the hell is Dustin here?” You asked, looking over at Eddie for answers.
“I forgot your brother needed to pick up something.”
Your hand palmed your face as you uttered profanity.
“Just… Try to be quiet. I’ll try to talk to Dustin.”
You nodded, watching him run out of the room and disappear down the hall with a pair of jeans slung over his shoulder.
You could hear the faint sound of Eddie tripping over his legs as he put on his jeans before the sound of his door opening.
 “Hhhhey bud…”
Dustin stood there with hostility, anger written across his face. He was a concerned brother, and he needed some answers, “Where's my sister?”
“Y/n? She's- She's not here right now, dude.”
“Eddie, that's my mother's car! She literally took it out last night.”
“Yeah, I went to the movies and stayed with Robin for the night.” You answered, walking up behind Eddie, fully dressed with a D&D book fastened around your arms, “I wanted to do you a favor, so I picked up the book you're borrowing from Eddie.”
You gave a small smile and stepped out beside Dustin, handing him the item as he looked at you with a confused expression. Eddie subtly sighed with relief that you were there to help.
“So you stayed with Robin like… The whole night?”
“Yes, Dusty… Where else would I have been?”
“I- I guess… Nevermind.” Dustin shook his head and glanced down at the book.
“Well, thanks again for letting him have that.” You gave your appreciation to Eddie, who stood there, extremely impressed by how fast and believable you were.
“Y-yeah, of course, at least that book will get some good use.”
“Why don't you put your bike in the trunk, Dusty. I’ll drive you home.” You said, nudging your brother's shoulder, watching his head nod before running over and grabbing his bike. You turned around, noticing the smirk spread across Eddie's face.
“See you around, munson.” You teasingly winked, stepping back to the car.
Eddie put up the phone symbol with his fingers and mouthed, ‘Call me later, sweetheart.’

When You Came Into My Life-Eddie Munson x Reader (Stranger Things)
Summary: After a traumatic event two years ago you're back in school with your friends and meet someone who has a crush on you from The Hellfire Club.
Tumblr media
(A/N:Can't wait for the last episodes to S4! Also, Eddie was adorable and can't wait to read on him, Henry and the role supposedly Maya Hawke's brother will be playing the next episodes since I'm a fan of punk boys.)
"Want to trade that milk for these?"
"I have to finish my assignment before the bell rings again."
I was sitting at a table in the cafeteria alone, not talking to anyone because of all the homework and late assignments I had to hand out before the semester ends, which is in a few days. I should've been able to do this a long time ago but I took a few months off of school due to the traumatic I had two summers ago.
Sighing to myself I continued to scribble down what was left of an essay and thankfully I was more than halfway.
"There goes the freak again." Someone mentioned which made me glance to my right as I saw a tall guy standing on a table, long messy hair and denim vest, chains on his jeans.
I shook my head frowning and continued with the work while I continued to listen to what he began to say at the basketball team, making fun of them. I noticed Lucas was sitting with the basket team while Dustin and Mike were with the Hellfire Club.
They've been begging me to join, well, Dustin has. Since he knows claims I look and dress almost the same as their group. He never specified what the club is about but I assume it must be into heavy metal music and such.
It's been a year since I lost motivation in doing anything, I left school for a few months, was and am still extremely depressed that I even gave up on dyeing my hair different crazy colors. Due to my lack of attending school and such I had to repeat a year, it not I would've graduated by now.
I was lot in my own thoughts until the bell rang and I started closing up my books, I felt a presence next to me and I saw Mike to my left and Dustin to my right who had wrapped an arm around my shoulder.
"(Y/N)! My buddy how's life treating you?" He began to joke, I hummed and fought back a smile.
"Does your Mom need me to babysit you again?" I joked back making Mike laugh but quickly shut his mouth when Dustin told him so.
"Pff no besides I have my own personal babysitter who's the best."
"So you admit you still need one?" Mike smirks knowing he won the conversation versus Dustin.
I needed money way back then so their parents would pay me to take care of them, then Steve came along and "stole my job" I like to tease him about that. I watched these kids grow up and now they are weird teenagers.
Steve and I didn't get along from the start until we got to knew each other. I also started to get along with the rest like Eleven, Max and Billy. Unfortunately after the fire at the mall two years ago everything changed for me and all of us.
I began to stand up from where I was sitting and felt Dustin and Mike following me. "So uhh what are you gonna do later?"
"Finish handing these homeworks to the teachers and hopefully praying anyways who's above to let me pass the grade."
"Haha you're so funny, (Y/N)." Mike said trying his best to hide whatever they are after.
I stopped in my tracks and turned to face both boys. "What do you need? And don't tell me you want to try drinking beer again, that thing was expensive and you threw it all up."
The boys turned to look at each other then at me. "We need someone else to join our club." Both of them said at the exact same time.
I raised an eyebrow staring at them, "The club you have begged me to join but never tell me what it's about-"
"It's about something we enjoyed doing together!" Mike quickly said before I could leave.
He gave Dustin a look who began to agree with him. "Y-Yeah what Mike said."
I continued to frown and rubbed my tired eyes. "When is this meeting happening?"
"Later today! So if you were planning to see the basketball game-
"I wasn't-"
"Then you should come with us." They interrupted me again and smiled.
I frowned loudly and tiredly rubbed my eyes again, "I'll see what I can do. That wasn't enough to convince me, tell your weird ass captain of the teams to convince me and we'll make a deal on it."
"Really?!" Both said again. I nodded my head and Dustin reached out to grab my shoulder again, making me stare at him weirdly.
"You're such a great friend, (Y/N)."
Mike began to pull on Dustin to follow him, claiming they needed someone else on the team. "Don't be such a sourpuss!" Dustin shouted before leaving.
Who even used that word anymore?! Slowly I started making my way to the remaining classes I had for the day.
By the end of classes I gave our all my assignments and hoped for all of them to be received with an A or maybe a C- which is passable. I continued walking down the lockers once mostly everyone had left, I waited since it gets very crowded outside.
I passed by the lockers and stared at one, one that belonged to my best friend.
"(Y/N)!" I stopped and nearly had a a heart attack when I was met with Eddie, the weird heavy metal lover who is Dustin and Mike's friend.
I placed my hand over my chest and tried to knock us him out due to his scare. The guy known as Eddie had his arm extended to the locker behind me almost trapping me, until he noticed the position he was in, quickly and awkwardly he stood back up.
"You are Mike's and Dustin's friend, right?" His tone is a lot different than the one he used when he was making fun of the basketball team earlier.
"Duh of course… Clearly you've seen me sitting alone right across from the table you and your club always sit that."
I really don't want to deal with him right now.
"Did Mike and Dustin send you again?! And no I'm not interested in drugs." I said already annoyed by his presence. Eddie seemed surprised by my sudden question so he quickly shook his head and hunched down a bit, hiding his hands inside his pockets.
"Umm they didn't..and I'm not here to offer you that. Look, I know you must be busy and all but the boys could really use your help."
Still unsure of him I continue to listen to him, "The boys and I will be at the club discussing a serious matter. Don't do this for me but for them."
I hummed still not sure whether to trust him but I gave in and shrugged my shoulders, "You're lucky I finished my homework on time, I'm heading to that stupid club of yours but because of my friends nothing more."
I added and began to walk away from him and heard him behind me.
"S-Sure I'll see you then!"
It was late and almost half of the school were at the gym witnessing the boring and stupid basketball team playing against another school, I on the other hand was being dragged by Mike and Dustin to the club I swore to go.
"Will you please tell me what this club is all about? And why did you being Erica too?!"
I've noticed all of them wearing similar t-shirts, it is maybe some motorcycle gang or they are all practicing for a band?
"You haven't told her yet?" Lucas's sassy little sister asked both both who began dragging me by my wrist.
"No and you better not tell her!"
I was dragged down further until we reached a pitch black room with candles and a table between two other members and Eddie up front. I stared around surprised that the guys would join such a club, "Welcome to The Hellfire Club!"
"You guys joined a cult club…?" The last word dragged on which turned into a question when I saw a board game on the table with a bunch of figurines, cards and a dice.
"But..this is D&D." I told them disappointed. Both guys up ahead began to laugh and Eddie smirked.
"It wasn't what you expected, huh?"
I turned around to glare at Dustin and Mike who hid behind Erica. "And who is the kid behind you?" Eddie stood up and walked past me to question the girl who left him speechless.
"See? We're not that much of freaks, just s few who like fantasy games!" Eddie cheerful said making me stare at him confused.
And here everyone including I thought they were cultists. I have been proven completely wrong.. it's kinda shame they aren't.
"I thought you were all a motorcycle game secretly hanging around causing chaos." I also began to tell them.
"Nah that sound uninteresting, we like the adrenaline that comes with this!" Eddie pointed at the board game and came to rest his hand on my shoulder.
"You see, (Y/N). Life isn't about having those types of thrills or being all sweaty chasing a ball." I hummed and moved away so he wouldn't touch me.
"Let's give these weirdos a piece of our mind." I heard Erica say.
"I don't even know how to play that, oh well I should leave." I faked a smile and began to turn around till Mike stopped me.
"But we used to play together!"
"You were young and never figured out that I was the one letting you all win because I never understood the weird ass rules." I defended myself.
"Ahh so lame!" I heard the chubby guy said behind me.
"She wasted our time then, she should leave then-"
"But she isn't leaving." Eddie said making us all turn to look at him. He stood up straight and seemed to hide his face when he took a few strands of hair to hide him, "She can stay if she wants and maybe we can offer her a tutorial later on?"
I was surprised to see him acting like this. The other older guys smirked at one another but said nothing.
We were sitting all together with the boardgame between us all, I boredly began to listen and didn't make much sense on what they were all talking. I felt like dozing off but Eddie who was right next to me began to explain some powers and other things I didn't understand.
I awkwardly remained silent and would see the others cheer like maniacs or curse whenever something was wrong.
"Guys! Time out!" Dustin shouted making the others form a circle a bit far from us.
"This is so stupid." I murdered under my breath.
I should have hung out with Steve and Robin…
"Hey! If I may interject, gentlemen, Lady Applejack. While I respect the passion you'd be wise to take Gareth's the great concern to heart. There's no shame in running. Don't try to don't try to be heroes. Not today, 'kay?" Eddie said with a small and cute smile?
I shook that thought aside when I found myself staring at him for too long. No! He's completely weird and goofy, something I definitely never expected from him.
"One sec." Dustin and the rest of the group remained silent for a couple seconds before we grouping again.
I remained silent and hugged myself while I watched the guys playing the last part of the game, Erica threw the dice and they won. Everyone began to cheer and I felt Dustin shaking my shoulder and hugging me when all I did was watch.
After the game we all began to walk outside and seeing the other dumb students walking out of the basketball game. I remained behind and heard a soft cough and glanced over to see Eddie again.
I rolled my eyes and looked away from him "…So, that was a great game, huh?"
"Aha." I mindedly said not paying attention to him at all. I closed my eyes and internally groaned when he continued the conversation.
"Would you like for me to give you a private class on D&D?"
I weirdly turned my face to look at him and his eyes widened when he realized what he said. "S-Shit! I didn't mean it like that." He began to stutter again, "Know what I'll shut up now." He said mostly to himself and I watched him beginning to retreat back to where we were.
I shook my head and noticed Dustin that was behind us, he smiled at me sympathetically. "There's no need to be cold and distant, (Y/N). Eddie's a great guy, give him a chance, yeah?"
I knew what Dustin meant by that. All I did was force a smile on my face and I told the boys goodnight as I began to walk alone to my home.
I absentmindedly began to read the song titles again on the vinyl I cherished given by my best friend, I wasn't much of a Scorpions fan until I was given the album. Rock You Like A Hurricane, No One Like You, and When You Came Into My Life being my favorites.
I placed the album to my side and stared at the ceiling up ahead. I hate the feeling of emptiness.
"(Y/N), I'll be going out now there's dinner in the fridge." I heard my mom say before I heard her leave the house. I said nothing and turned to my side and started to remember that awful memory.
Just a few days ago police informed the news that they are searching for Eddie Munson, saying that he murdered a classmate, Chrissy. The guy is a goof and kindhearted despite acting like a child, he would never kill someone.
I do not know him much but I know he is incapable of that.
Dustin, Max and Steve along with Robin called me to be ready in five minutes to go search for him. I can't be all mopey, this is my chance to save people, I can't let anyone else I know die. Quickly, I began to pack my backpack with things and I patiently waited outside until they arrived.
The four is us went to the woods almost in the middle of nowhere. We noticed a shady ass place up ahead, "Yup we're definitely not gonna get murdered at night." I sarcastically told them.
"Will you quiet down! I swear Robin has been a bad influence for you." Steve joked which earned a smack on the head by her when we entered the small shack.
We all screamed when someone grabbed Steve and pinned him to the wall. "Whoa! Eddie it's me. It's Dustin."
The boy said trying for the guy to calm down while the rest remained quiet. "He's not gonna hurt you right, Steve?"
"What are you doing here?"
"We're looking for you."
"We're here to help."
"Eddie, these are my friends. You knew Robin, from band. This is my friend Max the one who never wants to play D& D, and (Y/N) who joined us at D&D and is awful at it. We're on your side. I swear on my mother, right guys?!"
"Yes. Yes. We swear."
"On Dustin's mother."
I slowly took a step forward when Eddie kept a broken bottle on Steve's neck. "We all believe that you didn't murder Chrissy. So, don't hurt him.."
Eddie turned to face me then Steve again, he slowly let's go if it and went to sit down. I hummed and started to genuinely feel bad for him.
"We just want to talk."
Soon enough Eddie began to tell us the truth while we patiently listened to him. What we knew all along he never murdered Chrissy, something bad is happening at Hawkins again. After so many incidents I hoped the last one would be the last.
"I didn't know what to do..I left her. You all think I'm crazy." He scoffed looking away.
"We don't think you are." Dustin replied.
"Don't bullshit me, man! I know how this sounds."
"We're not bullshitting you." Max told him.
"Look, what we're about to tell you might be a little difficult to take. You know how people say Hawkins is cursed? Well, they're not wrong." I sat across from him and quietly spoke now looking at Dustin who continued.
There's another world. A world hidden Hawkins. Sometimes it bleeds into ours."
"Like ghosts and shit?"
"There are some things worse than ghosts."
We took our long time and explained to Eddie all that has been going on in this town. It might be hard to understand but he must already know the truth or he'll convince himself that he's gone insane. We all exchanged looks and decided to spend a bit more time feeling sorry for him.
It was the next day when we visited Eddie again this time bringing snacks and I brought him the chips I always see him eating whenever he's around doing nothing and just eating. "You coming, (Y/N)?" Dustin asked
We had been in here again for about fifteen minutes but we needed to leave to find more information on what is going on.
I felt immense sorry for judging Eddie so badly do I offered to stay. "You should all go ahead. I'll stay here for a bit."
"Stay safe, (Y/N)" Steve said messing up to hair and Robin trying to stop him. I chuckled and punched his shoulder lightly.
"That bat with barbed wire could come in handy here."
This made Steve chuckle back and wave at me, "Maybe I'll lend it to you next time. We'll be back as soon as we can."
I said my goodbyes to the rest and watched them leave. I threw my backpack aside and began to try and move a heavy table to block the door just in case.
"I could really use some help here." I blunts said but noticed Eddie rummaging through my belongings, "Hey don't touch my things!" I shouted when I saw him holding the Scorpions album I have.
"This is awesome, don't you have any Ozzy or-"
"Of course I do, and please be careful with my album." I said not minding him touching my things since I knew he wouldn't stop.
I managed to move the table and I sat down across from him on the wooden floor, i started looking at the lake up ahead.
"I do love a girl who has great tastes." I smirked to myself since he went back to his regular self. I blushed a bit but shook the thought aside, I hugged my legs to my chest and continued looking out.
"You know..I'm sorry I treated you like shit."
I noticed in the corner of my eye Eddie shrug his shoulders. "Some people can find me charm hard to process." I hummed and try to not show him my smile. I could feel his dark eyes on me when I began to talk.
"Do you remember of the mall incident a few years back?"
"Yeah, that was crazy. Why?"
I rested my head on my knees and tried to not choke on my words. "My..boyfriend died there, Billy Hargrove."
"Had no idea you were with him." Eddie truthfully said, "I'm sorry I didn't-"
"What we explained to you yesterday, Hawkins is the reason why he died. He died protecting me and his sister, I couldn't do anything back. I was so scared.." tears began to fall down my face and I found myself sniffing, trying to hardest to hide it but failed.
Just by the small intersections and horrible jokes he does when he's with me let's me know of his true feelings for me. I find it flattering and a bit cute but I'm afraid…
Few seconds went by in silence until I spoke again. "Before he passed away we would listen to that album together. Max, gave it to me when she noticed Billy's father gathering hid belongings before moving away. That's why I cherish the album so much."
I felt the wooden floor beneath me creak a bit and I felt Eddie sitting next to me. "I guess I don't want anyone close to me to die again..I'm again sorry for ignoring you. With Billy gone I've found it hard to live on."
My breath hitched when I felt his arm around me, Eddie quickly stopped and retreated his hand until I warmly smiled at him and he continued, now with his arm wrapped around me.
"I didn't know, (Y/N). I'm genuinely sorry you had to see all of that. I'm sure you'll learn how to live on, it's gonna be rough but you'll learn, we all will."
I felt my lips tremble alone with my hands turning cold. With my sleeve I wiped my tears and turned to look back at Eddie's tired face.
"Can we start again then?"
Eddie softly chuckled and nodded his head, now extending his hands. "I'm Eddie Munson."
I raised my hand up and grabbed his warm hand, "I'm (Y/N). I'm sure we'll be great friends."
I genuinely smiled and reassured him that we would be friends from now on.

default verse,  re  :  season 4 rewrite,  abridged   [  ish  ]   timeline. . .
note  :  all of this is flexible to plotting,  especially with other characters who will's divergencies overlap with   [  cali crew,  as well as how other characters like eddie or chrissy that might interact with him since he's not excluded from canon events  ].     i am also still very canon compliant friendly for where it better fits or is desired!
SETTING  :  the byers stay in hawkins,  jane still moves in with them,  and joyce decides to start her off with homeschooling instead of jumping straight into public school.     will asks to join.     honestly similar to max,  will distances himself a bit from the party with his new schooling as an excuse,  ghosting a lot of interactions unless they’re group or occasional.     nothing extreme,  but noticeable.     he isolates from both friends and family to paint and study and work his after - school job for some extra cash.     he still reaches out to max just to remind her he’s around if she ever needs anything,  and makes time for lucas’s basketball games where he can,  but otherwise tries to make himself scarce.     he does not join hellfire,  nor does he play dnd anymore after the events of season three.
volume i,  THE DEAD  :  the night of chrissy’s death,  will has an unnervingly intense upsidedown episode.     he sees the news of a hawkins high student’s death at the trailer park on the news and calls max to make sure she’s okay  ;  he notices something’s off,  but the conversation doesn’t last long,  and he’s left to venture over to dustin’s with a feeling of forbode.     dustin’s mom let’s will know that he is,  in fact,  out for the day,  and with max,  and will’s stomach rolls.     he goes on a bit of a wild goose chase looking for the others to no avail,  but eventually makes his way back to dustin’s for a spare walkie where he finds lucas and a few other basketball players digging around where they’re not supposed to.     lucas and will split off to go find dustin themselves.     the night of fred’s death,  will has another episode.
volume i,  THE CEMETERY  :  once all convened in mike’s basement with the knowledge max has been cursed,  will tells the others about the episodes,  as well as this strange knowing creeping back up,  not dissimilar to his intuitions in season two and three.     it feels like the mind flayer again,  yet the killings are different.     they can confirm his second episode coin - sides with fred’s death as well.     by the time team babysitter are at the cemetery and max’s eyes roll back in her head,  will’s knowing immediately expands to now - memory territory.     as everyone’s scrambling around trying to wake max,  will stands at the edge of their periphery,  skin crawling,  eyes glazed and breath quiet  ;  frozen.     when max finally drops back to the ground,  will breathes like he’s just come up from underwater.
volume i,  THE CREEL HOUSE  :  the whole victor creel lead felt like a huge waste of time to will,  in that he felt like he knew,  they all knew,  who it was  :  the mind flayer,  again.     right ?     after robin and nancy’s discovery at the library,  it pales in comparison,  circumstantial at best,  a waste of manpower.     but there’s no tendrils of shadow to chase,  not even a meat - puppet version,  no zombie - fied people looming about,  so he bears it.     they discover more at the asylum and will sighs and follows after them to the old,  decrepit house in question.     he begins to feel like a passenger in his own body almost immediately.     from the moment they step up the walkway,  reach the porch,  even worse once they’re inside.     unbearable,  once they’re in the attic.     every corner they turn to follow the lights,  will’s already drifting toward.     when the lights in the attic blaze and then burst,  he flinches his eyes closed and feels a body hit the water.
volume i,  THE GATE  :  as mentioned here and elaborated here,  will works similarly to a compass when it comes to upsidedown gates.     this very general awareness,  coupled with his episode leads them to the lake.     at first glance,  a lot of will’s knowledge of the upsidedown is honestly unhelpful due to it’s vague and ambiguous nature,  which he is very aware and tired of,  but he’d be able to tell them why vecna’s doing what he’s doing far before volume ii.     they’re linked,  somehow,  just like he and the mind flayer,  and will now knows the similarities are enough to be worrying.     he’d know these dead are sacrifices,  these sacrifices,  gates,  and that vecna needs four of them for his plan to work.
throughout all of this,  will is increasingly frustrated that he is not a target of vecna instead of max,  or even patrick,  or literally anyone else.     the upsidedown never passed up an opportunity to bite down on him before,  and this time,  it's even specifically targetting people with not only trauma,  but secrets,  and yet he's just as helpless as he's always been.     he's linked with the upsidedown in every way that doesn't help his friends,  and he grapples with this a lot.     when will described the mind flayer's intentions in season two,  he says it wants to kill,  and when asked if it wants to kill him,  he answers no  ;  just everyone else.     this appears to be true even now.     as the events of volume ii aproach,  will is desperate to the point of recklessness to do something,  anything,  with this connection that might help.

Dating dustin Henderson<3
This is a male reader female/fem aligned dni!
Tumblr media
Cuddles. All the time. But only when your alone because your both boys and the party finds it mushy and gross💀
Kisses. He'll give you kisses around people but only people you guys trust(etc. The party, steve, robin, nancy<3)
He loves to kiss you on the forehead and cheek but if you want he'll definitely kiss you on the lips super flustered when he does tho
You kiss his hand and it makes him crazy red
Hugs anywhere and everywhere bear hugs to be specific
You've known him since the rest of the party started. You all became friends when you were little
He told you he liked you first. When you started dating you both agreed only a few people could know since you lived in hawkins Indiana in the 1980s
He'd definitely say stuff like "i hope some day people like us will be normal to strangers" cuz he just seems like he'd say that
Constantly saying cute shit like "your so handsome" "your hotter then the sun" "you remind me of (favorite flower)" and just other dorky stuff to get you flustered but bc he loves you🥰
Is alittle bit scared people will find out about you guys being gay. I mean you guys already get bullied just for being nerds. Imagine what would happen if people knew you were gay.
When the party found out they were extremely accepting just said "you better still hang out with us or we're gonna have to break you up"(in a joking way obviously<3)
When steve finds out he's basically just a proud mother "oh my oh my. Dustin my friend has finally found himself a lover? Guess my hair tips worked" we love steve
Nancy didnt really care. Robin on the other hand was absolutely all over you "finally i have someone who relates to me! We're gonna be best buddies" and you guys did become best buddies
In season 3 when they went into the Russian base under the mall dustin tried to make you stay out of it for your safety but you absolutely refuse. "If your going to be in danger so am i" kinda thing
Erica immediately knew. If you were small enough to fit in the vents with her she'd randomly go "so you and the nerd are a thing am i right? Dont worry i wont tell" and you'd just be confused at how she figured it out (she totally watches the party when theyre out alone💀)
Dustin constantly worrying about you but still being happy that your always next to him when he's in danger.
Your bestfriends with steve. Basically as close as him and dustin
You definitely have a bat with nails in it just like him and your chaotic asf and steve loves it. Thinks your a mini him(minus the no love life) he also gave you his hair secrets(but depending on you. You might like your own hair routine more)
In season 2 when Billy started beating up steve you grabbed a baking sheet and smashed it on the side of Billy's head yelling "ding ding motherfucker!" And Dustin thought it was the scariest yet coolest thing you've ever done
You talk to him on the supercom on a channel that no one ever goes on so you teo can flirt like little "you look so pretty"s and "those shorts looked nice" just wholesome flirting.
He likes to be holding your hand in someway constantly if theres alot of people he'll just interlock your pinkies so people dont notice
The party definitely likes you as a couple more then Mike and el cause you dont ditch them💀
Best friends with will<3 you love dnd as much as him and your just super duper close
His mom would be super accepting she just radiates ally
You cried alittle when mews died bc you love cats(if you dont love cats what are you doing with your life) but you still helped dustin bury her and look for dart.
Your very protective of Dustin. Like when one of the demodogs looked like it was gonna attack Dustin you stood infront of him with your bat scared shitless
Your also bestfriends with max and el. Your totally invited to the girl hangouts "dustin i cant call babe im doing hotgirl shit playing spin the bottle with the gals"
When the steve and robin hold the door for you guys to escape the Russian base you stay back and hold the door. When you get captured you get beat up like steve and dustin is just a worried mess like "omg omg omg i cant believe you stayed your all bloody omg omg"
Your definitely closer to steve then eddie but you and eddie are good friends
If you smoke you definitely buy from eddie and you both promise not to tell dustin because he'd rip both of your heads off
He much prefers you go to his house then yours because his mom is way less invasive
Idk why but dustin gives me asexual vibes its random but yeah😭
Him holding your thigh while cuddling<3
You putting your head in the crook of his neck. Just. Yes.
Playing with his curls and him playing with your hair back<333
Playing dig dug together and dustin trying to absolutely destroy you in it.
Hes smarter then you. But your similar in some subjects.
But when it comes to "street smarts"(dont know if thats the word to use) your smarter. You think ahead more or just have generally better plans... but sometimes you just rush in..
You own a baseball bat even tho you've never played and when dustin asks why you tell him "well. My dad bought it for me but never let me hang out with the baseball kids" and dustin would be kinda confused but shrug it off
Suzie? She exist but shes simply just super close with dustin
Your favorite song is definitely never ending story<3
You and him love to sing it together when your alone
He lets you lie on his chest and vice versa
Dancing in his room in the middle of the night
Claudia(Ms. Henderson) definitely calls you sweetheart or honey and some cute version of your name(ex; miles=mimi) or something along those lines
He loves to read comic books to you
Playing tag but him getting exhausted alot faster
Or if your like me and have asthma you get exhausted way faster and he helps you breath steadily again(sweet sweet boy)
Bullying mike.. you love to playfully bully mike
He loves the sound of your voice and your breathing. He loves just hearing you. He'll randomly ask you a bunch of questions just to hear your precious voice.
If you guys ever were found out he absolutely wouldnt leave you and he would just start embracing it kissing you and holding your hand all the time just to piss pff bullies
Nicknames
Dustin: dust, dustbunny, honey, sweetheart, lovely, darling, babe, pretty boy.
You: (variations of your name), love, baby, darling, angel, handsome

How I think the characters will react to Byler when it is officially officially confirmed in the show:
El: once El realizes she doesn't romantically love Mike, she will become an avid byler protector.
El is a badass independent woman with a pure heart of gold. She cares deeply for Mike because he was the first person to show her any sort of compassion, so she will want him to be happy, and after she grows closer to Will, she will want Will to be happy too. El won't understand the societal stigmas around Mike and Will liking each other, since she was raised in a lab away from society and then lived isolated in Hopper's cabin, she has no knowledge of what society deems right from wrong surrounding sexuality and love. She will think other people thinking Mike and Will's relationship is 'wrong' or 'unnatural' is utter bullshit and completely stupid, as she should!
Jonathan: he will be 100% supportive. He knows how Lonnie tormented Will and made homophobic remarks about Will being gay when he was younger. He has always encouraged Will to be himself and ignore what others say, especially what Lonnie says. Jonathan will also be a byler protector.
Tumblr media
Jonathan knows Will isn't "normal", he even said Will was "good at hiding" in s1 which has several meanings, and he probably already knows Will likes Mike because of how he immediately turns to look at Will after Mike blurts out he loves El in s3 in Hopper's cabin.
Tumblr media
s1 ep. 2: "He's trying to force you to like normal things, and you shouldn't like things because people tell you you're supposed too."
s2 ep. 1: "No I'm serious. You're a freak. But what? Do you want to be normal? Do you wanna be just like everybody else? Being a freak is the best. I'm a freak. Who would you rather be friends with? Bowie or Kenny Rogers? Exactly. It's no contest. The thing is, nobody normal ever accomplished anything meaningful in this world. You got it?"
------(Some subtle queer coding there with the Bowie reference; David Bowie was a bisexual musician, and he also sings the original version of the song "Heroes" that plays after Will's fake body is found in s1, and the lines that play while Mike cries and hugs his Mom are extremely queer coded: "And we kiss as though nothing could fall. And the shame.")
Nancy: It's implied Nancy and Mike are pretty close, and honestly I think she has always suspected that Mike has a little thing for Will. From the look on Nancy’s face when he blurts out he loves El, it kind of reads as like she doesn’t believe him, because she knows something.
s1 ep.7: "I knew you were acting weird, I just, I thought it was beause of Will"
Joyce: will be 100% supportive, and a protective mama bear of Will as always, but also for Mike. Joyce will join the club of avid byler protectors along with Jonathan and El.
Dustin: avid byler supporter. I think he's picked up on how much Mike cares for Will, how Will cares for Mike, and has probably suspected at least something this whole time. Dustin doesn't care about being considered cool he cares about doing what he likes and being true to himself, and that belief for sure translates into how he views his friends as well. He will absolutely support Mike and Will and treat them normally.
s3 ep.3: "Instead of dating somebody because you think it's gonna make you cooler, why not date somebody you actually enjoy being around?" s1 ep.6: "Sometimes your total obliviousness just blows my mind"
Max: She seems pretty perceptive, so she's probably picked up on Mike and Will's 'special dynamics' by now, and we know she's definitely sick of how Mike treated El. She will be supportive of Will and Mike, but mostly she will just be glad Mike isn't with El anymore LOL.
Lucas: I think he definitely notices Mike seems to reallllyyyy care for Will, and that Mike doesn't act the same about El, although he claims too. I think Lucas sees through Mike's bullshit. Look at his smirking face and crossed arms when Mike frantically asks where Will is in s2:
Tumblr media
and how he reacts the same way to Mike blurting out he loves El and "can't lose her again" in s3:
Tumblr media
Hopper: he will probably want to kill Mike again.
"wait what?! so.. let me get this straight...all that time you were making out with my daughter, you were just...pretending to love her? You lied to her the whole time you two 'dated' yeah? And now you're dating your best friend. Oh god wait, I watched you tell him that asking him to be your friend was the best thing you ever did that night in the shed... Oh you little asshole!"
I can't imagine Hopper being homophobic towards Will and Mike, but I don't see him jumping up and down for them either. He will mainly be upset that Mike dated El when he was actually in love with Will, and not care so much that Mike is in love with another boy, just another person. But once he processes that El is actually okay, he will be fine with it.
Lonnie: is the literal scum of the earth! Obviously Lonnie will hate that Will is gay and dating another man. He will probably make some comments about how he "always knew it" and call Will and Mike homophobic slurs, probably at Will's birthday.
s1 ep.1: "He used to say he was queer, called him a f*g"
Steve: "Oh you two little shits are dating now? But I thought he was into the psionic chick? No? Okay, alright cool. Uh hey have you guys met Robin yet? I think you would get along, you know what I'll introduce you." Steve was so accepting of Robin coming out to him, there's no way he won't have the same kind of reaction for Mike and Will.
Robin: once she gets to actually know them and spend time with them, she will adopt Mike and Will as her gay sons and inspire them to be themselves and help them out whenever they need it. She will also pick up on the fact that they like each other immediately. If we don't get this pairing in s4 because of location logistics, I really hope we get it in s5!!!
Erica: she won't be homophobic, but she just won't care too much.
Karen: will encourage Mike to follow his heart, and like whoever he likes, because a relationship needs real love to survive, and she knows all too well what it is like to be stuck in a relationship with no love, and she doesn't want that for her kids, she wants better for them. She wants Mike to be truly happy no matter what, and she doesn't want to see him repeat her mistakes. Karen will be very supportive of Mike, and probably defend him to Ted.
s1 ep.2: "All this that’s been going on with Will, I can’t imagine what it’s been like for you. I just…I want you to feel like you can talk to me. I never want you to feel like you have to hide anything from me. I’m here for you okay?”
Ted: he won't be as much of an asshole as Lonnie will be about it, but he will probably make some snarky comments.
s1 ep.7: “our son with a girl? *scoffing*”

I just found your blog and I LOVE IT.
If I might ask: What’s your saddest dbd headcanons (killers or survivors)
Call me crazy, but I must know! ❤️
Ohh this one was a good one but it hurt me so badddd, ahhh. I’m glad to share , I have some bad dbd brain rot lmaooo I didn’t do every character so I hope these are ok 🥺 these are a bit long too
Sad Dead by Daylight Hcs
Claudette Morel:
Claudette is one of the criers. Probably cries while getting mori’d and can't help the tears during the really bad matches. Her pain tolerance isn’t very high, hence the willingness to waste time healing herself if it means she can stop being in so much pain.
Meg Thomas:
Spends time alone thinking about her past life. Her mother is a subject that makes her really frustrated. People mentioning their moms makes her a little standoffish. Wishes she had a chance to say goodbye in some way.
Ace Visconti:
Ace doesn't have much family to even miss him. He wonders if they noticed he’s gone or hasn’t come back. Maybe they think he hit big bucks and left them behind. Ace is stuck really. Even if he were to go back, he’d be dead or working off his debt.
Feng Min:
Gets super mad when she loses, it makes her so angry that she doesn’t control the trials. She blames other people for her losses but actually is very critical of herself. Casts the blame on others so she doesn't have to face her own mistakes.
David King:
All of his perks are about putting his ass on the line for his teammates yet everyone seems to think he’s selfish and a dumb brute. David doesn't know what to do to be more approachable; genuinely wants to be seen as a friend.
Laurie Strode:
Laurie never got the chance to mourn her friends. She thought she won. Finding out she’ll never truly escape Michael or be able to forget him makes her so mad. When she gets Michael in trials she makes sure the glass in her pocket is extra jagged and serrated.
Jane Romero:
Jane only wanted recognition and acknowledgement. Everything she's worked so hard for feels like a waste for her now. She should have spent more time on herself or with her father. Jane feels like she has no purpose anymore besides running and screaming for the enjoyment of the entity.
Yui Kimura:
Yui can’t stand the Clown or the Stealth Killers. Reminds her of bad memories. When she loses against killers like ghostface, she is especially angry. Her fighting spirit can’t help her actually get back at them.
Zarina Kassir:
Spent so much time fighting inequality only to spend the rest of her life where the odds are never in favor of the survivors. Where the oppressed are destined to lose. Each one of the people is subjugated, both killer and survivor and there's nothing she can do to free them.
Cheryl Mason:
She's been through literal hell and back just to end up in a weird recurring nightmare. At least Silent Hill had an escape. She's killed a god and somehow someone her size with a boxcutter can kill her? Huh.
Élodie Rakoto:
Feels guilty over the loss of her parents and feels extremely disillusioned by this realm. It's so much more boring than she thought it would be. All of her searching and traveling was not worth this shithole.
Steve Harrington:
Steve, though 18, is very much still a kid. Steve is naive about certain things and his optimism gets chipped away at a lot. Wasn’t too enthusiastic at having to care or look after Dustin and his friends but misses having people to protect.
Jeff Johannson:
Someone who definitely ends up taking hooks for people and ends up dying. Has a reputation among the killers as a survivor who is easy to leverage during the endgame because he will try for that save.
Kate Denson:
Feels very lucky to even have her guitar. The other survivors didn't get to bring many things with them. Makes her feel a little bad when she Often feels too worn out and exhausted by the trials to play it.
Quentin Smith:
Unfortunately stuck in pseudo-hell with his abuser. Gets really anxious against Freddy. Leans on his fellow survivors. Will sometimes accidentally bring Freddy to others in an attempt to get Freddy the hell away for him.
Evan ‘The Trapper’ Macmillan:
Actually has tried on numerous occasions to remove the metal rods and shrapnel embedded in his skin. It hurts like hell and just when he thinks he’s got it, he loses grip. These attempts never work.
Philip ‘The Wraith’ Ojomo:
When he’s alone, Philip will try and talk to himself. His vocal cords are warped, his voice a scratchy growl and garbled gurgle. He remembers what he used to sound like but he tries talking less and less.
Max ‘The Hillbilly’ Thompson Jr.:
Besides being named after someone who locked him away for most of his life? Max has to rest a lot between trials. The constant movement puts strain on him and causes him dull pain. His back causes him a lot of grief. The Entity is barely merciful.
Michael ‘The Shape’ Myers:
Meant to be forgotten by everyone who ever knew of him and he knows it. Loomis, after deciding that Michael couldn't be ‘fixed’ just hoped that the system would swallow him. If it weren't for the entity, Michael knows he'd either be dead or caught and back with Loomis.
Bubba ‘The Cannibal’ Sawyer:
Used to be one of the nicer killers to go against and might have been sweet to certain survivors who deserved kindness. But the Entity punished him for it. Bubba isn't very nice anymore. Probably a little meaner to avoid being in trouble again.
Amanda ‘The Pig’ Young:
Another one down to give second chances, much like the second chance she saw in John Kramer. Doesn’t do this a lot however, therefore escaping the ire of the Entity. She’s spent a lifetime hurting others emotionally and physically. Now, she’ll spend an eternity.
Rin ‘The Spirit’ Yamaoka:
The pain and anguish is so heavy but time is no cure in a place where time is nonexistent. No happiness to replace her rage. Especially in a place where her anger is a weapon for a greater power. Also has tried to pull the glass out of her skin and press her limbs back together. Can’t stand to see herself in the mirror.
Adiris ‘The Plague’:
Her body is always on the precipice of falling apart. Her skin rots; her flesh aches and feels like it will tear away at any moment. She is immortalized yet so close to death. Her body hurts so much but she has a purpose to serve. (makes me even sadder bc jannneeeee my mainnnnn😔)
Kazan ‘The Oni’ Yamaoka:
Misses his son. Never got to see him grow up, considering he;s already met his descendant. Proud from a distance because that's all he can be. The beginning of something so angry that it passes down his family line.
Caleb ‘The Deathslinger’ Quinn
During his life, was under the control of people who made him work for their gain who used him. The Entity emphasizes the killers as a position of power but Caleb does much of the same here. Works and works. Never for himself.
Pyramid Head ‘The Executioner’:
His existence has always included pain. He’s not quite sure what it’s like without it. He’s made several efforts to take the pyramid off. It pulls painfully at his neck. Makes awful groaning noises and roars.
Ji-Woon ‘The Trickster’ Hak:
Has never been much more than entertainment for other people since he was a child. Never expected to be much more. To the point that now, if he doesn't feel impressive in some way, he feels incomplete. The entity is his way to really indulge his ‘true artistry’.
Yun-Jin Lee:
A bit selfish when it comes to surviving. A few people around the campfire dont like her for that reason. Some of the meaner people will even leave her behind because they remember all of the times Yun-Jin might have done something similar.
Thanks for reading!!! I’m sorry I don’t post often but I have Shit ton of hw and I recently started a new project sooo ya know 💖💖💖

hi bestie can u rank the st characters most to least likely to commit vehicular manslaughter
hey bestie i love u <3 here u go!!
1. nancy. i feel this needs no explanation. nancy’s hit the same exact pole in the hawkins high parking lot three times and still doesn’t understand why steve wouldn’t let her drive his car while they were dating. jonathan doesn’t let her drive his car either and she’s like what the fuck it’s already a piece of shit what am i gonna do to it and he’s like nancy if you wreck it i Literally can’t afford to fix it and she’s like well i’m NOT GONNA WRECK IT and then the next day she borrows her mom’s car to go to barnes and noble and she hits a weird speed bump while going 70 in a 45 and later when she sees a story about a hit and run on the news she’s like wow that’s so terrible!!! can’t believe people these days smh 🙄
2. hopper. he drives drunk and we all think we’re doing him a favor by turning a blind eye but actually we’re just enabling him and one day he’s gonna do something he can’t take back and we’ll all be personally responsible for the tragedy because we didn’t have the balls to say something. we’ll face our judgment in hell.
3. joyce. she can barely even see over the wheel. she also regularly applies mascara while drinking coffee and eating a burrito and adjusting the radio all at once. she does this while going like 80 mph. hopper would cover it up for her though <3
4. erica. she Definitely can’t see over the wheel and she would still try to drive anyway. steve would take the fall for her but his daddy’s money would keep him out of jail so she wouldn’t even feel too guilty about it.
5. dustin. prone to panic. probably closes his eyes whenever he makes a risky turn. definitely turned onto an offramp one time and just screamed about it before pulling an insane u-turn that nearly caused a ten-car pileup. once again steve would take the fall except dustin would feel INCREDIBLY guilty about it and probably blow the whole thing by telling the truth and then steve would get tried for perjury rather than vehicular manslaughter.
6. will. we all know gay people can’t drive. i think will specifically is too confident in his driving for his actual degree of ability like he wholeheartedly thinks he’s a good driver even though he tailgates people all the time and gets like five speeding tickets within a year of getting his license and has to go to a safe driving course at the community college so his license won’t get confiscated. however i think he’s probably more likely to rear-end people and get into small fender benders that drive up his insurance payments than he is to commit vehicular manslaughter.
7. mike. he seems like he’d be a pretty average driver tbh and i don’t think he’d ever drive drunk or anything so he’s pretty unlikely to commit vehicular manslaughter. shit happens though!! i also think he’d be one of those bitches who gets a little Too into his music while he’s driving and he prioritizes acting out the music video in his head over checking his mirrors. unlikely to commit vehicular manslaughter though he just sometimes Almost kills himself and everyone in the car but he catches it just in time and then for the next ten minutes he drives with both hands on the wheel and his jaw clenched in silence while his music continues to blare so loud that he can barely even hear the engine.
8.  steve. he’s the designated chauffeur for all of his friends and i think he’s probably been driving since he was like twelve. i just get that vibe like he has an uncle or something who owns a lot of empty land so he grew up driving around way before he was legally allowed to do so. he’s a pretty good driver. however he DID hit somebody with a car on purpose because the situation called for it and while i don’t think he’d drive under the influence he might drive with a head injury which leaves a narrow possibility for vehicular manslaughter.
9.  lucas. pretty low odds on vehicular manslaughter. he seems like he’d be a responsible driver although he might sometimes speed or fuck around with the wheel and swerve a bit on purpose to mess with whoever’s riding with him. he only does this on empty country roads. he might hit somebody with a car on purpose if the situation called for it though because that’s what heroes do.
10. jonathan. he’ll be damned if he has to stop his car to be polite to a cop and then pay them money afterward. he’d rather go 30 in a 45 than get a ticket and beyond that he drives will around all the time and it’s very important to him that he’s a good influence so he tries not to play chicken with yellow lights even though he wants to. extremely low odds of vehicular manslaughter.
11. max. this is going to be controversial but i think that despite being a speed demon and probably being one of those bitches who slides across four lanes at once she’s genuinely a good driver once she’s like tall enough to reach the pedals. like she’s VERY confident and cocky in her driving ability but it’s earned. she can parallel park in one smooth movement and not even break a sweat. everyone who ever rides with her is afraid for their life at Some point but she never actually gets close to getting into an accident.
12. robin. okay i KNOW she’d be a godawful driver but hear me out: you can’t commit vehicular manslaughter if you never drive. if she can’t make steve drive her somewhere, she just bikes instead. one time he tries to help her get over her driving anxiety by practicing in a parking lot and driving through downtown hawkins but she gets scared once they go over 30mph and slams on the breaks and steve hits his head on the dash and he says it’s fine and they can try again but she refuses.
13. el. i will not take any criticism on this. when she kills it’s on purpose. el would never be caught dead committing vehicular manslaughter.

Greaseball Headcanons
Okay so, @marastriker and I were talking last night about some GB headcanons. Not all were happy. But Im of the strong belief that no one starts out being the way they are and that their circumstances change and make them the way they are. So, playing off of that, here are some headcanons I've got about GB. (Some HCs may be familiar because they're also on this post here since they and I also were talking about other things and got to talking about potential kids and how GB & Dinah + Electra & CB would be as parents)
Anywho, I've talked about the background long enough, let's get to the main post.
(Might make this a two parter because it genuinely gets so so long)
(also @sweet-dining-car this is the post I mentioned)
TW: abuse, alcoholism, death, violence
So, for starters, GB wasn't always the way he is now. (Even now he actually deflects and has created this persona of a meathead who can be a total dick, but genuinely he's just a soft and nice guy at heart) Back when he was a kid, he actually was the cutest and sweetest kid out there. He was always so nice to all the other trains, and acting as a protector for all of the other trainlets (even if he was the runt of the litter. He just wanted to be like his favorite super hero: Captain America)
He would always be seen trailing Poppa or getting the most upset and doing his best to cheer up Poppa whenever he was having a bad day or looked even the slightest bit upset.
On that same note, Momma to him was like a second mother and both her and Poppa were the perfect relationship. (yes in my HCs Momma and Poppa exist together and same for the Hip Hoppers and the Rockies)
Unfortunately, at home, it wasn't as good as he could imagine it was in the train yard. At home, his dad was the biggest homophobic and toxic masculine guy you can image. A raging alcoholic with gigantic anger issues. He would constantly beat GBs mom and sometimes GB too.
His dad believed that BECAUSE he was the runt, that constant abuse would make him stronger. GB used to be the biggest cry baby but through years and years of abuse, would learn to hide it and "be a man"
His mother would sneak in some vinyls she managed to get for GB of Elvis or Frank Sinatra or anyone else she could find and she would help him hide everything when his dad would get home from work.
GB has always had a soft spot for dining cars because his mom worked close by them and he would sometimes visit her at work when he was way younger.
GB isnt actually straight. He's bi but represses it and hides behind the toxic masculinity because he made the mistake of telling his dad when his dad had a good week and he was almost beaten within the edge of his life. (and since that day, the abuse towards him was actually way worse)
GB would hide any of the abuse behind clothing and sunglasses and a cool guy persona. He would use it to deflect and pretend that nothing was wrong at home.
Eventually when GBs parents split (which was close to him turning 18), his dad managed to convince the court that his mom was unfit to be a parent. (Him and his mom talked about it before and agreed that in the end if the court asks GB his opinion on where he wants to live, he would choose his dad and then go find her when he turns 18. Because that way it would be best for the two of them)
So, at 18 he left without telling anyone and went to go find his mom. However, he never did and in fact found out about the fate of his mom from a phone call, telling him that she was found beaten to death. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what had happened.
GB actually blames himself for his mother's death, but like a good son, uses whatever money he had earned to give his mom a proper burial.
When he has to go back to get her personal belongings, he takes all the photos and rips his dad out of all of them and hangs them around his small one bedroom apartment. He even managed to find some old recordings of his mom singing and some old home videos. (he cherishes those and will play them when he's sad so that he never forgets his mom. and in a way he always has a part of her with him)
He actually is really good at metal working (thank you mara for this headcanon) so he uses his skills to make his necklace from one of his mom's old earrings so she's always with him and in a way that necklace becomes his lucky necklace in all his early races.
Speaking of races, his first race outfit wasn't the best quality at all. He didn't have much so he created the whole outfit from scratch and he actually used to hide his face no matter what, behind a poorly made train helmet, to hide from the risk of his dad finding him.
The longer he was away from that situation, the more he actually would hide behind the early version of the persona that he has now. He's always idolized Elvis and he holds a spot close to his heart for the singer, that he started slowly changing his appearance to look more like Elvis.
He started working out so he would never be seen as weak ever again.
Eventually, he made a big enough name for himself that he would get interviews on TV every now and then and that's how his dad found out about him still being alive. At first it didn't really click in his dad's head but the moment GB started speaking, his dad knew exactly that that was his son. (Yes he sounded more like Elvis but a father never forgets his son's voice)
So, his dad, as an anonymous donor, asked a young CB to crash GB in the next race. CB, not one down to turn down money did just that. And yes, that whole interaction had put GB out of many races and caused him to pawn off any and all belongings to pay for his hospital bills because any small sponsor he had managed to get dropped him.
(No one wants damaged goods)
and while GB is back to normal, he every now and then when he's super stressed, will feel his bones aching, like a phantom injury and he will start limping slightly because he never fully healed from that.
But now that he knew about CB would go to him and ask him to throw races in his favor, sometimes paying in sexual favors, sometimes in actual money. Because otherwise, he felt like he could never be at 100% and would always lose any race after his accident.
He needed the sponsors and money so he would do anything to get back into the top contenders.
He has major daddy issues that he and Dinah have discussed before. She's probably the only one who knows about GBs true past (aside from Pearl and Poppa and Momma)
Because of his trauma, he actually hates hearing even the word "daddy" so one night when CB accidentally lets it slip during one of their sexual encounters, GB slaps him. Thats the only time GB would actually hit anyone.
On that note, GB actually wont ever truly hurt anyone. For all he knew, Rusty actually did crash and all the damage was from that crash. He had no idea the Diesels roughed him up.
But one night when him and Rusty talk and he finds out about what actually happens, Electra has to get his components (namely Krupp and Killerwatt) to hold him back as GB unleashes hell and yells at the diesels. Like there is pure murder in his eyes.
Yes, sometimes GB hurts other trains during races but after every race they get an anonymous donor paying for all the repairs and a letter along with it with a long apology and flowers. (Dinah helps him spell check it)
GB has only cried twice since he was a child. Once when he found out his mother died (and thats the only time he would turn to alcohol. Otherwise he swears off of it completely) and second when he found out Dinah was pregnant.
GB is 100% terrified of thunderstorms because it reminds himself of his old living situation. Often times you can find him hiding in the closet or under the bed, pillows over his ears and under many layers of blankets.
He would actually be one to collect Squishmallows and other stuffed animals because he never got to as a kid. But whenever he gets any stuffed animal, Dinah names them. However, when his kids are born, he gets matching squishmallows with Norma Jean and Presely and names them after his kids. (Thats probably the only time he gets to name any stuffed animal)
GB actually really really loves Dinah. On the yard he may be this dick towards her but the moment he gets home he apologizes to Dinah profusely and will do anything she wants to make up for it.
He would NEVER do anything to hurt her and when she's pregnant will go above and beyond to be there for her. He even went to Dustin to ask for advice and tried to ask him to keep the fact that Dinah was pregnant under wraps (unfortunately, Dustin, being the sweetie that he is, cannot keep it under wraps and eventually the whole yard knows. Poppa actually gives him some of the best fatherly advice.)
When he finds out that Dinah is pregnant, however, he has multiple night terrors about his childhood. He becomes extremely scared that he'd be like his dad and both Dinah and Poppa reassure him that he's nothing like his dad. That in fact, he has more of his mom in him than he realizes. (Dinah even says he looks more like his mom than his dad, even though GB doesnt see it. She's also not one to admit that she actually knows that its true. She's seen a few ripped up pictures in the trash of his dad back when GB and her first started dating.)
Dinah is actually the one who helps GB compile all of the pictures of GB and his mom into a photo album. This photo album eventually has pictures of Dinah and GB and then Dinah, Norma Jean and GB and then Dinah, Norma Jean, GB and Presely. So its just one big happy book about everything right in his life.
One day, he even finds Norma Jean decorating it and Norma Jean, being the little kid she is is worried that her dad was going to be mad because it looks like he had a bad day at the yard and she just touched something that he cherished, even if she was trying to make it pretty, but GB actually tears up at it because its the cutest thing he's seen and now that book is just that much more special to him. He actually gets the whole family to do hand prints on the back and then sign their name underneath (with an addition of him writing "One Big Happy Family" underneath it all)
_________________________________________________________
Okay okay this has to be it for this post because there are just so many more headcanons and I wanted to end it on a happier note. So if anyone wants to know more I'll create a part two but for now this is what we've got because good god is it long.

[ deaken bluman, cis man, twenty ] Let’s give a warm welcome to one of Sparkwood’s finest, MIKE WHEELER !! Before coming here, he once lived on the pages of STRANGER THINGS. Though now they currently spend most of their time as a STUDENT. If you ask the townsfolk about what they are like, you will hear that they are STEADFAST but also SNARKY. If they had a theme song it would be SUGAR - BROCKHAMPTON.
note: you can find my full muse page HERE !
bio triggers: n/a.
most people would have assumed that mike wheeler had the perfect life from an outsider’s perspective. he was born to a wealthy upper-class couple in the small town of hawkins, indiana. his father ted was an acquisitions expert and his mother karen was a trophy wife. he was one of three children, raised alongside his older sister nancy and his baby sister holly. sometimes it felt difficult being the only male in a house full of girls, especially since his father was rarely around. but, that’s why he had his closest friends: will, dustin, and lucas to keep him company. they were the perfect group of friends, they were all viewed as outsiders and yet always made one another feel like they belonged. it was a bonus that they all shared the same common interests.
although all of that almost fell apart when one november, mike’s best friend will disappeared. the group tried their hardest to search for him but felt helpless. it didn’t help that the police were starting to lose hope and their efforts slowed. but in the end with the help of will’s mother, they were able to recover the boy. yet having will back felt strange, he felt like a shell of the boy who was once around before he went missing. unfortunately, the group began to slowly fall apart as they entered high school. they were still friends, of course, but they all had new interests that distracted them and occupied their time.
during high school, mike began to go through a bit of a rebellious stage. it might have had something to do with the fact that his life felt out of control. he could tell his parents were beginning to fall out of love with one another and he shut out his best friends. he distracted himself by getting high and listening to music while moping around his room. although when he graduated, he learned that he got accepted into his dream school: MIT. he left hawkins behind and felt as if he was finally free from the small town that was beginning to feel more like a prison than a home. although, mike found himself falling into partying a bit too hard and felt detached from himself while away at college.
he ended up reconnecting with dustin and deciding to transfer schools, moving to sparkwood, virginia to finish up his college experience.
HEADCANONS.
mike currently double majors in computer science and video game design.
before leaving home, he wasn’t necessarily as close to his mother but now that he can talk to her as a ‘friend’ rather than just as a parent… he has a lot of respect for his mother and they have become really close. ultimately, he is definitely a momma’s boy.
a closet nerd still. he loves playing dungeons and dragons and collecting pop culture stuff like comics and figurines.
speaking of dungeons and dragons, he is an epic dungeon master.
a bit on the spoiled side, his mom always sends him money and gifts whenever he needs it.
definitely suffers from middle child syndrome and can be a little bit of a moody asshole because of it.
he is jewish.
he identifies as bisexual but also suffers from some internalized homophobia. he used to have a crush on his childhood best friend, will, but pushed those feelings and the other away.
misses his childhood and suffers from intense bouts of depression due to his fear surrounding the future.
he will kick the shit out of anyone who messes with his best friends, even if he knows that he is going to lose.
extremely stubborn brat. >:(

Part One/Two/Three/Four/Five Read them as I post here, or all at once in Ao3 under peterqpan
What hadn’t occurred to Billy while planning for Santa was how long he and Steve would have to lie silently, waiting for the whispers around them to subside. The kids kept eating the Santa cookies, and then getting up to get more, and Will had the giggles about something. He kept wriggling out of the sleeping bags to put on more Christmas carols.
El kept sitting up at the slightest noise, staring suspiciously out the window, and Max wasn’t helping, all “What was that? Did you hear something?”
Jonathan’s shoulders shook suspiciously over on the couch, but at least he was quiet.
Steve didn’t let Billy throw anything at Max and El, and when Billy started to suggest knocking Dustin and Will out with blunt force trauma instead, Steve cupped his face with both hands, smiling at him in the light of the tree. They were scooted down far enough in the zipped-together sleeping bags that the edge shielded them from sight, their knees touching, and Billy let his eyes close as he leaned into Steve’s warm hands.
“Love you,” Billy whispered, almost inaudibly. “See, it’s romantic now.”
“It’s always romantic,” Steve whispered back, which Billy should have expected, honestly, from the man he’d had to flee earlier because he was professing his love loudly in the grocery store over Billy’s choice in mustard.
“Loser,” Billy sighed, squirming closer, and biting back a laugh at the feeling of Steve kissing his forehead, and his ears, and across his cheeks to his eyelids, and down his nose. Billy reached out and grabbed his boyfriend by the back of the neck, pulling him into a real kiss, but soft, so the kids couldn’t hear. “Merry goddamn Christmas,” he whispered, under the annoying, tinny tones of Marie and Donnie Osmond, apparently taped from the TV special. Steve snorted a laugh against his lips, and Billy could feel him grinning.
“Thanks,” Steve whispered, and Billy stroked his thumb over the base of Steve’s skull, and the shell of his ear, feeling the muscles move as he smiled.
“All I did was get out of your way,” Billy whispered. “But I get you tomorrow night, Harrington.”
“No, you—you did all this,” Steve whispered back. “I wouldn’t’ve thought of inviting the Byers. Or the tree. You invited Dustin.”
“Dustin invited himself,” Billy pointed out, and Steve nodded, squirming closer.
“You said it was okay,” he whispered. “I’d be...this’d be every other Christmas,” he laughed, a little catch in his voice, and pressed in for another kiss, murmuring against Billy’s lips, “Except for you. Love you. Babe. Billy Hargrove.”
“...I haven’t even killed you a reindeer yet,” Billy told him, his face so hot he could feel the blood pounding in his ears. “Jesus.”
“I love you anyway,” Steve whispered, kissing his face again. “I’m generous that way. Y’know. Even to losers who can’t even bring me a reindeer.”
Thank god, Billy thought, turning his head to kiss deeper, tasting frosting, and feeling Steve tremble against him, panting for breath. Thank god he shut up about loving me. Thank god he loves a loser who doesn’t bring him reindeer. He slid his hand up inside Steve’s shirt, under his sweater, and felt his breath hitch. Steve slid a socked foot over, hooking Billy’s leg by the ankle to sandwich their knees together, so their bodies were close enough to feel warm.
“Let’s sing carols,” Dustin said loudly, and Steve scrambled away, sat up in the zipped-together sleeping bags, and beaned him with a pillow he yanked off the couch, which had the fortunate side effect of dumping Jonathan Byers' ass on the floor. He yelled.
Billy should have expected the thankfully brief pillow fight, in which Will got the giggles so bad he fell over, Dustin took a three-pointer in the face from Max, and Jonathan Byers threw pillows at Steve, missing every time.
El smacked everyone indiscriminately, and Steve tried to be some kind of stealth ninja slithering around on sleeping bags while Billy called out plays like a sports announcer, but after they all flopped horizontal again, panting, the kid’s giggles finally petered off, and then there was silence.
It was time.
“How come I didn’t get a home run,” Steve whispered as they retrieved El’s bike from where Hopper’d slid it under the table, as Jonathan tiptoed off for the stockings.
“Didn’t hit the ceiling beam,” Billy whispered back, making it up as he went along. “Gotta hit the ceiling beam before it drops on somebody.”
“I should have got a penalty shot when they all ganged up on me,” Steve huffed, sitting out Dustin’s Commodore 64 games, and Will’s new markers. There was a photography book for Jonathan, and Billy waited until Steve wandered off to stick the two albums he’d bought him kinda behind it— Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and The Police: Synchronicity. Steve used one of his dad’s ski boots to make an ash print by the stove, before helping Jonathan prop stockings up not-too-near the fireplace, so the chocolate inside wouldn’t melt by morning.
Max had new walkie-talkies too, and Billy sat them out with mixed feelings, wondering who the second one would go to—her mom?! He hailed Steve over to have him write a note, too—Dear Max, it said, I have given your step-brother Billy a little Christmas spirit, so he’ll drive you to get a skateboard repair kit.
“Why am I writing it,” Steve hissed.
“She knows my handwriting, dingus,” said Billy, knowing she didn’t believe in Santa, but also buying in, a little, to the illusion.
Steve looked at him for a long second, and then yanked him in for a kiss.
They’d barely climbed back in their sleeping bags when Billy heard bells, and thought really, Hopper? Fuck you. Really?!
El sprang up, stumbling sleepily over Dustin and Will to the window, and from their grunts and muttered expletives, possibly doing internal damage. “Bells,” El mumbled, squinting outside just as they all jumped at the loud thud, and scraping noise, and El turned to stare at Max and yell “It’s his sleigh! It’s his sleigh!” before peeling off to run out the back door to stare up at the sky as Max fixed a sleepy, but extremely suspicious, glower on Billy.
“The fuck was that,” she hissed, and Steve said “Santa!”
“Go away, Santa, too early,” Dustin mumbled, and Billy’s liking for the kid grew three sizes that moment.
“It’s not even two in the morning,” Steve whispered, laughing, and pointing to the digital clock on the VCR, but Mrs. Henderson, Joyce, and Susan all stumbled downstairs, shivering and blinking sleepily, followed by Hopper.
He hummed as he put the kettle on, rubbing his hands together as his kid froze outside like The Little Match Girl, looking for Santa in her pajamas, and Billy finally went to the door with Dustin and yelled “El! Get in here, you’ll freeze!”
She yelled something back, but it got lost in the arctic wind, until she ran back, shivering, and held out a half-eaten carrot like she’d found the Holy Grail. “They dropped this!” she whispered, and Billy dropped a blanket on her head, and walked away to stand by the fire as Dustin pulled her inside, and Will saw his Santa-given markers and yelled.
Steve came up and threw his arms around Billy, either out of joy, or the realization he needed to stop his boyfriend from murdering the sheriff.
The kids all milled around the tree, Dustin’s fingers actually twitching towards the games, but they all noticed the time, and stared warily at their parents—except El, who was wrapped up in a blanket in the arms of the main offender, her snowflake-patterned socks sticking out as she yelled something muffled about Santa.
“Guess we’re opening presents now!” said Joyce Byers, grinning as she watched Jonathan catch sight of the photography book, and Will sitting, cross legged in front of his markers, his eyes wide and fixed on their target. El found her bike and yelled, snatching the note, and Max frowned at the handwriting over her shoulder, then fixed a startled frown on Billy, who shrugged. Max's eyes narrowed as El ran to show Hopper the note, and Billy looked away, watching Dustin rub his face briskly and trundle over to sit under the tree.
Dustin passed his mom a package, grinning up at her, and she crouched to hug his head.
“You’re all insane,” Billy whispered, warming to the idea of Christmas, a bit, as El passed him more hot chocolate, even though Jonathan immediately ruined everything by putting the Rudolph Christmas special on the VCR.
“Euuuugh,” Billy groaned, leaning his head against Steve’s.
In the ensuing melee, Billy ducked around flung Star Wars toys, Legos, what looked like a camping tent, a Ghostbusters baseball cap, and a rainbow of hats and scarves from Mrs. Henderson, who’d apparently made some for everyone there.
“How’d you have time,” Joyce breathed, running her fingers over a pattern in brown and green, and Claudia Henderson shrugged.
“Dustin’s cousins never send thank you cards anyway,” she said, grinning and handing packages to Billy, Steve, and Hopper.
Billy squeezed his, blinking at her, and she patted his shoulder. If Claudia Henderson could brave the wrapping-paper explosion, so could he, he figured, so he edged around to grab Steve’s stocking, and handed it over. “I’m giving this to you on one knee,” he whispered, and Steve blinked at him, then stared down at the stocking.
Instead of pulling out orange after orange, as Billy’d anticipated, Steve dumped it over his lap in a shower of fruit and walnuts, and burst out laughing at the ring-pop Billy’d stuck in the bottom. He yanked the wrapper open and put it on his finger, admiring the huge cherry candy gem, and leaned to whisper “I do.”
Billy flushed and scrambled away to find his actual presents for his boyfriend, rather than watch Steve stare into his eyes, swirling his tongue around his ring-pop, his mouth already red from the food coloring. Billy scrambled half under the tree and yanked out the first aid kit, and the cold-weather kit with handwarmers and foil blankets, and passed them up to Steve, who looked startled unwrapping them, then fond.
“I’ll be ready for anything,” he said, and Billy snorted.
“Can you be ready for anything in Hawkins?” Billy shot back, and Steve beamed at him.
Billy’s Santa presents for Steve, the albums, had been snatched up by Will and Jonathan, he realized after crawling around. They surrendered them after arranging some copies in trade, and Billy handed them over to their proper recipient while Steve stared at the pile of presents growing around him, and agreed to give one of his new walkie-talkies to Dustin.
Which made sense, Billy thought, it wasn't like Billy even knew how to use the damn thing. He didn't even know if he lived close enough to Steve for the damn thing to work, and it was probably more important to Steve that the kids could find him when they found monsters.
Steve was wearing one of his new mittens on the hand without the ring-pop, and the matching burgundy scarf, and Billy sat and watched him as he opened the note from Joyce, inviting him for New Years, and grinned at her.
Billy forgot he was in the middle of the whole Christmas mess until Max punched him in the shoulder, and shoved the note Steve had written in front of his face. “This true?” she asked, scowling. “You’re gonna take me to buy a skate kit.”
“Yeah,” he said, shrugging, and she stared.
“Santa is real,” she muttered, crawling back over to where El was trying on her new bike helmet.
Steve pushed his haul aside, pausing to blink at a wrapped package from Susan, and waved Billy over as he slowly ripped it open. Two packaged Hot Wheels cars spilled out into his lap—a BMW and a Camaro, and Steve looked delighted. "They're our cars," he whispered, grinning at Billy, his eyes sparkling in the lights from the tree as he ripped the cardboard off the backs, and touched their front bumpers gently together.
Billy shoved them down, hissing, "Don't make our cars kiss."
"But they're in love," Steve whispered back, bumping them together again, and Billy leaned his face in his hand and groaned.
He glanced over at Susan, sitting next to Max and El as El told his stepmom about things you could put in bike wheels to make noise. He couldn't picture Susan Hargrove going through the toy aisle, finding their cars, and he wondered for a wild moment if Max had, but that was even harder to picture. Steve kissed the cars bumpers together again, making a smoochy noise, and Billy elbowed him. He couldn't figure out what the cars had even been for—she wouldn't have given them to him—so the remaining option was Susan had shopped for Steve, intending the whole time to give him little toy cars in a mismatched pair.
Steve put both cars in his hand, their undercarriages pressed together, and rolled their tires together with a sly grin, and Billy smacked his hand again, reddening. “Okay, so,” Steve said finally, “—I didn’t know you’d want to come.”
“It’s fine,” Billy laughed, but Steve shook him gently by the shoulders.
“No, it’s not, but I gotta find you something better than what Bradley's Big Buy had, okay. All I got you was this—” he pushed a squishy package into Billy’s hands, and Billy ripped it open to find a soft sweater, clingier than the horse blanket Steve had pulled over his head earlier. “It’s the color of your—no, it’s not,” Steve said, squinting into his face, and Billy started snickering as Steve grabbed him by both arms and pushed him closer to the tree, then pulled him back, then walked him through the all the sprawled kids and around the other side. “There,” Steve said proudly. “It’s the color of your eyes.”
“I can’t see them,” Billy reminded him, grinning, and Steve stared at his mouth, licking his own lips, then groaned quietly in the back of his throat and stalked back to the couch, sucking on the ring-pop.
“Billy,” said Susan, holding out two rectangular department-store boxes with fancy bows, and Billy bit his lips together and sat down right where he was, lifting the lid on the top one. It was a button-down like he liked, the same brand he was wearing, in a deep oceany blue, and he bit his lips together, frowning into the box.
“Neil was busy, so I told him he didn't need to...supervise the shopping,” she said. “It should be the right size.”
Billy nodded, putting the lid back on, and opened the other, bigger box to see a wool coat, thick but tailored. He narrowed his eyes and put it on, and Steve whistled like a goddamn train. Billy ignored him, tugging at it and zipping up the front, and for once, dressed for the outdoors, didn’t feel like he was wearing an entire mattress tied to his chest. “...thanks,” he said, feeling his face heat, and avoiding looking up at her face by testing the size of the pockets.
“Don’t freeze to death,” Susan told him, sighing, and handed him his stocking. He pulled out Mr. T’s Candy Cups, and Nerds, and some oranges, and Starburst, and then felt something thick. He thought this better not be a fucking bag of coal, after she said she didn’t even think it was funny.
It was a pair of socks, warm and soft, and he considered them for a second before placing them in his lap, and reaching in to find a cassette of David Bowie’s Let’s Dance. He was just pulling out some Twix bars when Max dropped next to him, and he pulled his candy back towards him, narrowing his eyes at her.
“I got my own candy, dipshit,” she said, rolling her eyes, and fiddling with her new, shiny walkie-talkies. "The hat's warm."
Billy grimaced. "We'll get you the board repair kit."
"...he told you not to buy it, didn't he," she said heavily, and Billy winced, opening his mouth.
“Everybody done?” Joyce yelled, and Max opened her mouth and closed it again, gripping the walkie-talkie, but Joyce walked by and patted her shoulder, calling out, “Everybody done with presents? Okay! Go the hell to bed.” Max scuttled away to her sleeping bag, and Joyce prodded Hopper in the side, which he ignored. She cupped her hands around her mouth, shouting up at him. “Bedtime!”
“It’s morning,” Dustin said, snickering, but he covered a yawn, and Will walked over to his side of their shared sleeping bags, his arms filled with loot, and collapsed in a smiling pile.
“Fine, fine,” Hopper said, clapping his hands. “Everybody back to bed! G’night!”
Max opened her mouth, frowning at him, then sighed, and lurched tiredly to her feet, stumbling away. Steve came over and sat in her spot, throwing his arm around Billy, and sucking his ring-pop, and they sat and stared at the tree as the kids crawled back into their sleeping bags, Rudolph’s dad was terrible on the TV, and the adults all shuffled back upstairs.
“Love you,” Steve whispered.
“I heard those were invented to stop kids sucking their thumbs,” Billy whispered back, flicking Steve's hand with the ring-pop.
“It’s definitely been handy when I wanted to suck on things,” Steve said agreeably, and Billy choked, coughing, as Steve slurped away at his cherry ring-pop, looking smug.
Billy woke the next day alone in the sleeping bag, and tender where he’d rolled on his belt, and where the seams of his jeans had sanded his legs. He groaned into the soft blue-green sweater he was using as a pillow, and smelled food .
Nancy’d shown up, he found out, when he sat up like a groundhog blinking at the sun. She was on the couch with Jonathan, flipping through a different photo book in black and white. They both blinked at Billy, and then waved silently, and he waved back, looking around for Steve, and hoping Steve’s ex and her new beau didn’t try to include Billy in their conversation.
Steve was running back and forth from the kitchen, carrying plates and wearing an intent grin, and Billy watched him for a few minutes before clambering out of the sleeping bag. The others were rolled up, he noticed, and tried to zip his apart. He caught the ties in the zipper, somehow, and was trying to figure out whether he could just roll them together when Will dropped to sit next to him, eager to leverage his sleeping-bag-taming knowledge for copies of all Billy’s music.
Billy considered, aware of Nancy and Jonathan trying not to watch him repeatedly lose his battle with a squishy inanimate object, and finally agreed. “You figure this shit out and I’ll copy you the new Def Leppard,” he whispered, and Will hugged him, which was just—weird, so he waited until it was over, and walked away, trying to fix his hair by feel.
Lucas and Max showed up that afternoon, Mike was there, Billy registered vaguely, giving all the appropriate compliments to El about her bike, and Billy dozed on Steve’s shoulder in a turkey coma and let the Christmas carols float over him.
Just after he thought they’d left again, the floor pounded as Max stalked up to him and slapped the new walkie-talkie in his hand. “Everybody else has one,” she said, glaring at it, turning on her heel, and stalking off. Billy stared after her, wondering whether she honestly couldn't find someone to give it to. He'd seen Lucas', and it was twice the size.
“Ooo, I have one!” Steve said excitedly. “We can talk when you can’t get to the phone!”
Billy glanced up at him, and back down, imagining being able to call Steve when his door was padlocked from the outside, and bit his lips together. He nodded, and cleared his throat. “I, uh, yeah. I’ll...get some batteries.”
“I’ve got some,” Steve said, squirming away, then dropping beside him again to hand over an eight-pack of Energizers. “Dustin gave me some for mine.”
“...might use this thing a lot,” Billy said warningly, flicking the buttons, and Steve laughed.
“Good, I don’t wanna feel needy.”
Before everyone left, Billy got hugs from Joyce and Mrs. Henderson—he couldn’t think of her as Claudia, not when she was wearing an apron and reminded him so much of Mrs. Claus—a companionable shoulder-squeeze from Hopper, and a tense smile from Susan. El asked whether they could come back next year, explaining how Santa got lost sometimes without woodstoves, and Steve nodded seriously, agreeing to everything she said.
Jonathan shook Billy's hand like an awkward nerd, while Will tried to convince them to hang out and listen to music together, until El started questioning them all about music, and Hopper drug her away. As Jonathan, Will, El, and Hopper stumbled off in a hand-holding chain like Billy's paper-doll garland, Billy felt a tap on the shoulder, and turned to see Joyce Byers again.
"Jonathan and Will showed me the car," she said. "It looks really nice."
"They vacuumed it," Steve said, laughing and waving his hands, and Billy rolled his eyes.
"Steve fixed it so your battery will charge right, and changed your oil," he reported, and Steve laughed, grinning, then went wide-eyed as Joyce hugged them both around the necks, yanking them down even though she stood on her tiptoes.
"Thanks so much, you two," she said, sounding a little choked. "You're such good kids. You're such good kids."
Steve made a weird noise in his throat, and Billy's eyes skipped the stinging and went straight to blurry with tears, so he pulled away, clearing his throat, and made a show of lighting a cigarette.
"A-anytime," Steve said, laughing a little unnaturally. He folded his arms, unfolded them, and bit his lips, and Joyce squeezed his shoulder.
"Thank you," she said earnestly, and he nodded.
Billy threw an arm around him as Joyce walked away. Dustin glanced between Billy and Steve and saluted, laughing and shaking his head, and Nancy waved again from the car window. Steve waved back.
“We look like the parents in a Christmas special,” Billy said, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Steve, and waving at departing cars. "Like a sitcom." Steve snorted a laugh, wiping his eyes.
After they’d all gone, Billy leaned in the doorway between the kitchen and the front room, watching Steve pick up a couple pieces of wrapping paper, and sigh. He sat under the tree, holding a piece of Mrs. Henderson’s ugliest wrapping paper, covered in brown and orange angels that looked like a hollow-eyed Strawberry Shortcake. Steve stretched it flat, and bit his lips together, before crumpling it, his shoulders a little bowed.
“...you don’t think Chriatmas is over, do you?” Billy asked, wandering closer.
“What?” Steve laughed, his eyes lowered. “I mean, it’s still the 25th. I guess. Christmas until midnight.”
“Yeah, that too,” Billy agreed, coming up behind him to reach around with both arms and take the sad crumpled Christmas paper away. He tossed it behind the tree, and Steve snorted a laugh, leaning back into his arms. “But we haven’t even gotten our best present yet,” he whispered, letting his breath tickle Steve’s ear, so he shivered. “This is the part I’ve been waiting for.” Steve opened his mouth, shrugging, and Billy yanked him around so they were nose to nose. “I got the biggest present under the tree,” Billy hissed, “—and I’ve been so patient, don’t you dare tell me Christmas is over now.”
Steve grinned at him, wide and delighted, and Billy squished his face with both hands, making his grin kissable.
Having had plenty of time to plan, Billy grabbed one of the sleeping bags, unrolled it, and tossed it under the tree, towards the fire. Steve pulled him over for a deeper kiss this time, soft and exploratory, as though he didn’t know every hitch of Billy’s breath, and the way he trembled when Steve bit gently at his lower lip, and let it pull through his teeth. “Jesus god of reindeer,” Billy whispered muzzily, and Steve burst out laughing.
“What,” he said. “What?”
“You,” Billy said hoarsely, and cleared his throat, trying to remember his script. “You wanna put on, like, your Christmas songs. Or—or movies. Or something.”
“...you wanna fuck me to Rudolph?” Steve asked, looking a little weirded out, and Billy gritted his teeth, and committed, for the sake of love.
“You want your Christmas shit playing when you get presents, right.”
“...jesus,” Steve whispered, head cocked like Billy was crazy, but beaming all the same. “Uh.” He flushed, biting his lips as he narrowed his eyes at the TV and VCR, and then the tape player. “Uh, just music, maybe.”
“Yeah, I don’t know about Rudolph,” Billy grimaced, imagining the little reindeer’s nasal tones, and the nitwit misfit song. “I mean, if you want to, but I’m gonna...good thing I already know how fucking weird you are—”
“I didn’t come up with—with this Rudolph sex orgy idea,” Steve hissed back, poking him in the chest.
Billy shrugged, rubbing it. “I really don’t know what’s weirder about that than listening to, like, The Carpenters, or John Denver and the Muppets,” he said, waiting while Steve blew the dust off the record player, and frowned between The Jackson 5 Christmas Album and A Partridge Family Christmas Card. “Or those,” Billy said, making a face at little Michael Jackson, and sitting on the sleeping bag, waiting while his dick strained against the inside of his jeans.
“Just don’t think too much about it,” Steve muttered, crouching down to put on A Partridge Family with pink cheeks, and Billy waited until the speakers crackled and Mr. Partridge started singing to grab Steve around the waist.
Billy pulled his boyfriend's butt half into his lap, where he could slide his hands up Steve’s sides, lifting his sweater and shirt, and kissing the skin between his shoulder blades. Steve laughed, and leaned his head back against Billy’s shoulder for a kiss. Billy gave him one—then two—then stared at Steve’s startled grin, and sighed, brushing their lips together as the magnetic pull hauled him back in, and Steve gave a muffled laugh and a contented noise deep in his throat, closing his eyes. He tasted sweet, like the cookies he’d been eating, even sweeter than usual, and Billy groaned and shoved Steve forward again in order to push his sweater and shirt up over his shoulders, white from winter, and scattered with birthmarks. Billy kissed a few of them.
“Better keep me warm,” Steve whispered, curling up in his arms, and Billy pulled him in as tight as he could, burying his probably goofy-looking grin in Steve’s hair.
“Oh, I’ll warm you up,” he whispered, and Steve snickered, relaxed against him as Billy slid his hands around Steve's waist, and down to undo his boyfriend’s jeans. Steve groaned, shivering as Billy pulled his cock out—it was already satisfyingly hard in his hand, and Billy rubbed the edge of his thumb across it, so Steve grunted and squirmed in his lap. “...guess the Partridge Family really does it for you,” Billy whispered.
“Shut your face,” Steve mumbled, panting. “You do it for me, we could be—we could be listening to like. Bird calls, I don’t give a fuck—”
“You saying Tweety Bird gets your motor running,” Billy whispered back, and Steve elbowed him, mostly hitting sweater.
“Fuck you,” he hissed, his hips jerking so his dick bumped against Billy’s thumb again, into his hand, and Billy squeezed it, the wetness letting his thumb slide easily over the tip. “Oh jesus,” Steve whispered. “God…”
“Lay down,” Billy said, biting his shoulder gently, and Steve arched against him, groaning. “Come on, your majesty, I’m not even done unwrapping you yet.”
“...nerd,” Steve snorted, panting, but he let himself be pressed back onto the sleeping bag, his cock sliding against Billy’s hand as Billy held him down, gently, by the lower belly, tugging his jeans off. Steve bent his legs up to let Billy yank the legs off without having to move, and Billy laughed as he tugged Steve’s socks off, and tossed them away. Steve grinned up at him, his face lit by the lights on the tree, making him look a little starry.
“There,” Billy said, rubbing his free hand up Steve’s thigh. He leaned in to kiss his boyfriend’s naked dick, and Steve yelped, moaning in the back of his throat.
“What—about you,” he grunted, his voice a little rough. “You gonna raw me in your jeans?”
He sounded hungry at the thought, and Billy filed that away for later. “Nah,” he whispered, swinging a leg over so he was sitting across his boyfriend’s thighs. “Thought I’d make you watch me, for a bit,” he said, sliding two fingers in his mouth, and sucking on them.
Steve muttered “Oh, shit,” and propped himself up on his elbows.
“Now you got me in this damn...Mr. Rogers sweater,” Billy said, keeping his voice low as he drug his fingers down it, Steve’s gaze fixed on them as his dick leaked.
“Don’t talk about Mr. Rogers, gross,” he whispered, and Billy grinned, swinging his hips a little from side to side so Steve's naked thighs could feel the warmth of his ass through jeans. “Jesus,” Steve muttered, clenching his fists as Billy slid both hands around his own waist just under the edge of the sweater, lifting them up underneath against his sides, and Steve laughed a little unevenly, his eyes widening.
Billy lifted the sweater a little more, running his fingers lightly over his abs, and then his pecs as they flexed with his arms up in the damn sweater, and Steve swallowed visibly. Billy pulled the sweater off his shoulders and head, shaking his hair back, and flexed his arms as he pulled the sweater sleeves off.
Steve threw his head back laughing. “Love you,” he said, always picking the weirdest times.
“We’re boning to the Partridge Family,” Billy hissed, instantly irritated. “If this fuckery isn’t love I don’t know what is.”
“I know,” Steve said, his smile soft even as his cock dripped on his belly. “Thanks for boning me to the Partridge Family.”
“Shut the hell up, I’m stripping,” Billy growled, and Steve started laughing again, tears leaking out of the corners of his eyes, and Billy swore and leaned in to kiss him, flattening him to the ground, and wiping the wetness away from his boyfriend’s eyes with his knuckles. “The fuck is wrong with you,” he muttered, and Steve snickered, sniffling. “You want me to hurry up?”
“No,” Steve laughed, swallowing a suspicious gulping sound, and Billy frowned harder. “I just like this,” Steve whispered, laughing, his eyes welling up again. “I like this Christmas.”
“Are you gonna do this every year?” Billy asked in horror, imagining his boyfriend crying through sex while puppets wailed in the background, and Steve laughed harder, wiping his face.
“You saying you’re gonna bone me under the tree every year?” he asked, and Billy felt his face heat. Steve grinned, reaching up to tuck Billy’s curls out of his face, behind his ear. “In sickness and in health?”
“Why are you so weird,” Billy groaned, rocking his hips, so Steve grunted, closing his eyes. “Yes. Yeah. Next year we’ll fuck to Frosty, can I get back to stripping now?”
“Yeah,” Steve laughed, sniffling. “I love you. Yeah.”
“Christ,” Billy muttered, wiping his boyfriend’s eyes and cheeks again, his own eyes stinging a little—probably with embarrassment, he thought, fairly sure he was gonna get a half-chub every time he heard the Partridge Family playing, for the rest of his life.
Steve was still hard, at least—which was more disconcerting than anything—so Billy sighed, and rolled his hips again, as a reset. Every time he did, his fly brushed the bottom of Steve’s dick, and he groaned, rocking his head back against the sleeping bag. He was starting to sweat, and the light of the tree made him glisten.
“Look at me,” Billy told him, and Steve folded his arms behind his head to see. Billy ran his fingers up his new blue shirt—cupping his sides like his hands were Steve’s, and then running his hands up along the buttons to undo the first one.
“Never seen you with your shirt all the way on before,” Steve whispered, his eyes fond, and Billy snorted.
“Can’t let up on the advertising campaign,” he said. “Gotta show you the goods.”
“No, you don’t,” Steve reached down to squeeze Billy’s thigh through his jeans. Billy undid another button, parting the fabric over his collarbones, and running his hands down his neck, and Steve leaned his head on one shoulder, smiling up. “I’m not gonna...forget, jesus,” he whispered. “Never gonna forget what you look like, babe.”
Billy grabbed the sweater and leaned in to lift Steve’s head into a kiss, tucking the sweater behind it as a pillow.
“God,” Steve whispered against his mouth, running his hands over Billy’s half-unbuttoned shirt.
Billy sat back upright again, while Steve groaned and grabbed at his shirt as he pulled away. Billy undid another button, letting his nails scrape along his skin as he scooped his pendant into his mouth, swaying his hips. He slid his fingers down over the remaining buttons to brush over the edge of his belt, raising his eyebrows at Steve, who laughed, panting.
“Yeah, I’m watching, loverboy.” Steve leaned back on one elbow, smiling smugly, and Billy watched the low golden light on his boyfriend’s face and hair.
Billy ran his fingers over his fly, and down in his pants, tugging his shirt tails out one by one, and swayed his hips in a slow figure-eight as Steve bucked a little under him, grinning.
“Gonna be New Years by the time you’re done, jesus,” Steve said, his gaze riveted to Billy’s hands.
“Can’t keep it up, there, pretty boy?” Billy asked, arching his back as he undid the lowest button, and then parted his shirt like a curtain and undid the one above it to show his taut belly and the trail of hair leading into his jeans.
“Not the problem,” Steve said through gritted teeth, the fingers on his free hand digging into Billy’s thighs.
Billy stopped, looking down to unbutton his cuff and roll it up a couple of times, humming carelessly as Steve squirmed under him, smacking his leg.
“Hurry up, you bastard,” he demanded, and Billy smiled, unbuttoning the other cuff.
“You gonna ask nicely?” he asked, and Steve laughed, shifting under him with a grimace. “You’re leaking like a hose connection with a bad washer.”
“Shut up,” Steve hissed. “Like you aren’t making me.”
“Maybe I should stop,” Billy said, stretching so his shirt lifted.
“Please, please, you dickhead,” Steve broke. “My legs are fucking going to sleep, and my dick’s gonna explode—”
“Thought you loved me,” Billy said, licking his lips, and leaning in so his stomach brushed Steve’s dick. Steve yelped, groaning, and bucking up into the friction. “Isn’t that what you were saying earlier? King Steve, the chosen one?”
“Love you a lot more if you let me touch,” Steve growled, laughing. As Billy sat up, Steve reached out and yanked at his belt, and Billy laughed, smacking Steve’s hand away.
“Thought you didn’t want Christmas to be over,” Billy whispered, and Steve laughed harder, his cock dripping across his stomach.
“Yeah,” he admitted, leaning back with a shaky breath. “Yeah, I don’t. Never want this to be over.” His knuckles went white as his fingers tightened on Billy’s swaying thighs.
The Partridge Family switched to Winter Wonderland, and Billy’s side was warmed by the fire. He knew the light of it gilded his hair and skin as he flexed his bare forearms, sliding a finger under the leather strap of his belt as Steve groaned.
Billy flicked it out of the belt loops, tugging it off the tongue of the buckle and slowly drawing it loose over his fly. Steve twitched under him, swallowing back a noise as Billy’s jeans brushed his cock. “You want me to fuck you?” Billy asked, undoing the buttons of his jeans one-by-one so Steve could see he was going commando, and pressing his thumb and forefinger together in a tight circle over his own dick, so Steve’s bounced untouched on his stomach.
“Holy shit,” Steve breathed, looking him over, and Billy grinned.
“Want me to do all the work,” Billy whispered, swaying his hips with the music, “—so all you have to do is lie there?”
“Anything,” Steve said. “Love you, jesus.”
Billy’s hand stuttered, and he leaned forward again, bracing himself over Steve’s chest. “Tell me,” he said. “You want me to ride you? What?”
“I want everything,” Steve said, his eyes wide and soft, and then he grinned. “I mean, we got so many leftovers to get through. Whatever we don’t do now—”
“How can you be such a romantic and such a shithead,” Billy muttered, reaching down to squeeze his boyfriend’s hand.
“Fuck me just like that,” Steve said. “Your party jeans and that shirt. You look like—you’re a wet dream, jesus.” Billy grinned, cocking his head and licking his lips, and Steve laughed shakily. “Yeah, come on, asshole,” he whispered. “Billy.”
“Yeah,” Billy said, scrounging around in the back of the TV cabinet where he’d hidden the lube, and pulling the condom out of his back pocket. He squirted some lube in his hand, and pushed Steve’s legs up to slide his hand between them, watching him squirm against the cold.
“Warm it up, dickhead,” Steve muttered, grabbing his wrist, but as soon as Billy started sliding his fingers up and down, Steve relaxed, going boneless with one leg bent up, the other sprawled to the side. His eyes went half-lidded as he grinned up in the starry rainbow lights.
Billy watched him pant in the light of the Christmas tree, and smiled, holding Steve’s hips flat to the floor with one hand, and bending to slip his mouth over his boyfriend’s cock.
“Jesus christ,” Steve grunted, shifting under Billy’s hands, and Billy hummed along with the song, knowing he could probably shove on in, but taking it slow, swirling his tongue around Steve’s dick as his fingers worked. He rubbed over the edge of Steve’s hole, over and over, until he was squirming, red-cheeked, and biting his lips together, and he finally said “Jesus, fuck me, god—”
Billy lifted his mouth off Steve’s cock with a pop. “His majesty’s getting impatient,” he said, and Steve yelled “Yes, I fucking am.” Billy laughed, leaning his head against Steve’s knee, and then kissed it, before crawling up to kiss Steve’s mouth.
“Fuck you,” Steve muttered, panting, his skin gleaming with sweat in the light of the tree. “God…” he whispered against Billy’s mouth, whining softly, and Billy grabbed the sweater and shoved it under Steve’s back, pushing his legs up so Billy could push slowly in.
“Merry Christmas,” he mumbled, and Steve started snickering, grunting as Billy’s weight pushed the air from his lungs, but pulling him in for a kiss, bent nearly double.
“God, you feel good,” Steve grunted, as Billy narrowed his eyes, checking his boyfriend’s sprawled limbs for tension before thrusting his hips. “God, yes,” Steve moaned, kissing hazily at anything of Billy's he could reach.
It wasn’t so bad, Billy decided, boning Steve Harrington under the Christmas tree, and watching the Christmas lights reflect off his eyes. Even the music wasn’t too awful—he mostly tuned it out—until Billy went too hard, rustling the nearest branch of the tree as Steve writhed beneath him, and a popcorn ball smacked right between his shoulders and bounced off Steve’s knee, and they both had to stop while they laughed themselves breathless.
“Let’s do this every year,” Steve whispered into his shoulder once they’d finished, sweaty and smiling, and Billy snorted a laugh, pulling him closer.
“...yeah, okay,” he whispered back, running his hand around his boyfriend’s ass where it was still a little sticky, and considering Round Two. “You’re worth it.”
“Good,” Steve laughed, squirming closer. “You’re worth it too. This. Anything.”
“...love you too,” Billy whispered, hugging him close.

a/n: sorry if some of my description is a little off, I didn’t want it to be extremely long, but here it is finally! enjoy ya’ll :)
Steve Harrington was the kinda guy every guy wanted to be, and every girl wanted to be with. His ego used to be as big as his hair, but that all changed after Jonathan won a fight against him. Y/N was halfway proud of her brother for winning a fight, but it also confused her when she heard it was with Steve. She told herself that it was weird to like someone who dated her brother’s girlfriend before he did, but she couldn’t help it. She never thought she’d have a crush on someone like him, but there she was.
There she was, offering to take Will and Lucas to the mall for the third time that week. Of course, they wouldn’t pass up a free ride to the mall or a chance to get some free food from her, if she felt nice enough. The boys ran to the car when she asked them, fighting for the front seat as she got ready to walk outside.
“I’m going to the mall, Jon! The boys are coming with.” she called to her brother, who was just getting home from his summer job.
“Again?” he asked, his head popping around the corner of the hallway to raise an eyebrow at her curiously.
“Yes, again. I’m hungry, they’re bored, why not?” she asked, shrugging her shoulders.
“Does this have anything to do with a certain boy in a fake sailor suit that works at the mall who you may or may not have a crush on?” he implored, smiling when a blush crept up on her cheeks.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, I don’t like anybody!” she said with a tone of fake shock in her voice, shaking her head and waving goodbye at her brother who knew her too well. “I’ll be back!”
“Ahoy there! Back again?” Steve said jokingly as he watched Y/N walk into Scoops. “I’m surprised you don’t have some children with you.”
“I paid for them to get into some movie, so I’m stuck at the mall until that’s over.” she said with a shrug as she walked up to the front counter and leaned over it.
“Well, I guess I can get you your usual order, my treat. Since you’ll be stuck her for a while.” he said with an amused smile on his face when she frowned back at him.
“I have money! I can pay for myself, Harrington.” she protested, digging into her purse for the money.
“No, my treat.” he insisted, starting to make her cone. “As long as you come help me and some friends with a little something.”
She knew she shouldn’t have said yes, but that damn smile on his face drew her in every time. Sure, she was falling for the big-haired dingus, as Robin called him, but she would never admit it to anybody who asked solely because she thought he would never fall for a Byers kid.
Steve knew everything she had been through in the last two years, and that scared her. He treated her like she was made of glass, like she would break if something too hard happened to her. Every little noise would make her jump, he couldn’t imagine getting close to her. She had been through too much, and he knew that it would be hard to make a move on the girl who was already scared and emotionally unavailable. But, there he was, falling for her from afar.
Saying yes to helping him ended up being a little more complicated than she expected. Cracking the Russian’s code was the easiest part of the operation. The next day, she found herself stuck in an underground bunker with Dustin, Robin, Erica and Steve. She had a gut feeling that they were stuck in another Upside Down situation when they plummeted so far down in the elevator that it seemed like they were at the Earth’s core, and she was right.
Their time stuck in the elevator started with her holding onto Steve when it shot down like he was the last thing she would ever touch. After getting out of the elevator, they tried to brush it off like it was nothing, like it was just out of fear.
“Dude, Steve.” Dustin said, his voice barely above a whisper as he pulled Steve to trail behind the three girls.
“What?” he whispered in reply.
“She totally likes you.”
“Who?” Steve said with a furrowed brow as the boy pointed to Y/N. “No, that was just—She was scared! And why is that what you’re worried about right now?”
Steve focused on how she acted towards him after Dustin suggested it, and was utterly confused. She shied away from him and kept her responses short when he talked, presumably because she was resisting the way she really felt about him. Walking towards the base in the long hall seemed like a quick trip to her, her mind was elsewhere. Her thoughts bounced from her attraction to Steve one minute to if Will and Jonathan were safe the next.
The next thing she knew, she was being pushed through the rooms of the base after Steve had knocked out one of the guards. Steve and Robin were holding down a door that Russians were trying to push through, telling her, Dustin and Erica to leave. She stood frozen in front of him for a moment, only shaking her head. She didn’t want to leave them there, she was afraid of what would happen.
“Y/N.” Steve said harshly as he grabbed her hand to get her attention, he could tell she was dazed from the whole situation. “I need you to go with them, okay? We’ll be fine.”
She only nodded in response and he squeezed her hand reassuringly before she was pulled in the other direction by Dustin. Her and the two kids eventually made their way back to Steve and Robin, saving them from the fate she didn’t want to think about. Everything between leaving and saving them was a blur, the only thing she felt was the lingering feeling of Steve’s hand in hers. She helped the kids navigate their way to the drugged teens and helped pull them out of the room.
“I can drive, Dustin.” she insisted when they got to the cart, trying to grab the keys but he pulled away.
“No, I will. We need to go fast and I’ve never been in the car with you when you’ve driven more than ten over the speed limit. Now get in the back!” Dustin snapped back, and she threw her hands up defeatedly before climbing into the caged back of the cart.
“Y/N!” Steve slurred when she got in, a smile growing on his battered face. “Did you stay safe?”
“I was safe, Steve. Obviously you two got into a little bit of trouble, though.” she giggled, eyeing his swollen face and bloodied lips.
“We almost died. I can’t believe I almost died in there with Steve the hair Harrington.” Robin laughed, pushing Steve’s shoulder while giggling.
Before she knew it, Y/N was pulling the two out of the back and into the elevator once again. They were giggling the whole time, playing around while they were thrown around by the speed of the elevator. Dustin and Erica were concerned, questioning whether the pair was high or drunk or God knows what.
After narrowly escaping the Russian guards by hiding out in the movie theater, they found themselves hiding from them behind one of the food court booths at the mall. The two drugged teens sobered up out of fear in that moment. She was gripping onto Steve’a hand for dear life as tears stung her eyes out of fear of getting caught.
It felt like she was almost frozen again when they all got up to see their savior, El, after she threw the car. Steve helped her up and they walked to where the rest of them stood, her arms wrapped around his. She caught the eye of Jonathan and Will when they walked over, both of them giving her the exact same confused look. After noticing their looks, she pulled away from his arm slightly with a blush on her cheeks.
Chaos ensued after that, and it happened fast. It seemed like everything happened in a matter of seconds, when it really did last a long while. Sitting on the back of an ambulance, Y/N stared off as she held Will in her arms and he rambled about their mom being okay. She assured him everything would be okay, partly because she knew it would and partly because she was making herself believe it too. The reunion with Joyce was teary, but the family was just happy to be back together.
She searched for Steve around the parking lot from where they sat with their mom, barely listening as Will and Jonathan talked quietly.
“Hey, Y/N.” Jonathan said, his hand squeezing her shoulder to get her attention. “I think there’s a certain sailor who’s sitting in his car over there. He might want talk to you.”
She shook her head and smiled gratefully at him, earning a confused look from Joyce, who was out of the loop. Jonathan would explain everything to her when she left, so she just gave him a hug before walking towards the BMW parked away from the ambulances in a side lot of the mall. He was alone, staring into the tercies mirror as he tried to clean up what was left to clean of the blood that was dried on his lip. She knocked on the passenger door and he motioned for her to come in, so she meekly opened the door and slid in.
“Hi.” she said with a weak smile after closing the door. “Your face looks a little better.”
“Thanks.” he chuckled, turning to face her instead of the mirror as he studied her for any marks. “Nothing happened to you, right?”
“No, nothing. I might have some bruises or something from being clumsy, but nothing besides that.” she replied, eyes scanning her arms and legs quickly.
“Listen, Y/N. There’s been something I’ve wanted to talk to you about for a while.” Steve started abruptly, knowing that he would chicken out if he waited any longer to tell her.
She nodded, biting her lip as her eyes trained on his. She wasn’t exactly sure what he was talking about, but she seemed to have some idea of what it was.
“I know it might be a little weird and all, since I dated your brother’s girlfriend before he did. And because I got beat up by him, and because I was a complete asshole before—“
“Steve, get to the point.” she giggled, her heart racing at a million beats a minute as she touched his hand to get his attention.
“Right, sorry. I know it all might be weird, but I really like you. You...You’re beautiful and smart and everything I could want. But I know that you’re scared, so I don’t expect you to say anything in return or give me a chance or anything at all. I just wanted to get it off my chest.” he said with a sigh, leaning back against his seat while closing his eyes.
“Steve.”
“Yeah?” he asked, head shooting back up to look over at her.
As he shot up, he felt her hands cup his cheeks and her lips press against his in a passionate kiss. She deepened the kiss once she felt him kiss her back, her fingers carding through his tousled hair. He reached over the console to wrap his arms around her waist, pulling her as close as he could in the awkward position. After a few minutes of heated kisses, she pulled away from his bruised lips with a smile on her face.
“Was that your way of saying you feel the same way? Or was that a ‘I’m just grateful to be alive and need to feel something besides fear’ kiss?” he asked, raising his eyebrow as he brushed some hair behind her ear.
“A little bit of both, but mainly the first one.” she breathed out, her thumb grazing the bruises on his cheek.
“Good, because that means I can do this.” he said as he gently grabbed her hips to pull her into another strong kiss, bringing her to straddle his hips.
Usually, she wouldn’t be so forward with any guy or let them even touch her. With Steve, it was different. She felt safe with Steve, like she was untouchable in his arms. She felt at home with him.

Crashing Down
Tumblr media
(steve harrington x hopper!reader / billy hargrove x hopper!reader)
BLEHHHHHH I’m having a REALLY hard time writing this rn, just because I feel like the story isn’t really progressing that much. And like i'm just going over parts of the show that has actually happened.. But i'm gonna keep truckin through i guess. I think this chapter is gonna be pretty long because im gonna try to get through a lot. There’s not a whole lot of Billy or Steve in this chapter but more like sister bonding with the girls <3 I dunno feedback would be greatly appreciated!!! <3 Thanks to everyone that's been reading it and thanks to @harringtown whose been supporting me through this whole thing. I honestly don't think I would be able to do this without her. <3 so go check her stuff out shes my main source of inspiration- also she's just the BEST writer like ever! She’s totally tubular. ;)
catch up here
Warnings: Curse words? Angst? I dunno anymore man.
Part 4/?
Word count: 2.1k (a big boy)
Summery: Sometimes things just don’t go as planned and your world just come crashing down, but it’s a good thing that you have people in your life to be there to catch you when you fall.
So there you were sitting on the counter in the back room of Scoops watching Steve pace back and forth, trying to understand Russian and eating a banana.
Dustin cut off the recorder and asks Steve what he thinks about it.
“Sounds familiar.” Steve says finishing off his banana.
“What?” both you and Dustin say at the same time
“The music, that music right there at the end.”
You sigh heavily and put your head in your hands,
“Steve, you’re such an idiot.”
The two boys start arguing about the fact that Steve should be paying attention to the words not the music when you butt in again.
“I can’t take this shit anymore,” you said looking back and forth between the two fighting boys, “I’m going home.”
You push yourself up and off of the counter and start to walk out the door when Robin burst through the door clearly fed up and aggravated.
“Alright, babysitting time is over. You need to get in there.”
She notices that her ‘You Suck’ board has been erased and looks at you as if you were the one to erase the board. You stick your hands up in surrender with wide eyes and looked back at Steve and Dustin.
“I guarantee you what we’re doing is way more important than your data.” Dustin said, looking to you for reassurance.
You just shrug your shoulders at him.
“Yeah? And how do you know these Russians are up to no good anyway?” Robin says.
You slowly start to back up towards the door with that question, “Yeah, I think I’m gonna go now..”
Once you make it out the door you let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding in. You hear Robin tell the guys that she’s fluent in 4 languages.
Dustin seems very impressed, “Russian?”
“Ou-yay are-yay umb-day” she says.
Both Steve and Dustin are extremely impressed by her fancy words, you pop your head back in the door before officially leaving to add a few words.
“It’s pig latin, for ‘you are dumb’, you dingus’ ”
They all turned their heads to look at you, Robin had a smirk on her face and sent you a wink while the boys had dumbfounded looks on their faces. And with your last few words, you left.
><
You walked out of the ice cream parlor and took a look around to see what you could do to pass some time.
After walking around, looking at a few stores you heard your name being called.
“Y/N!” Max screamed pulling El right behind her.
“Max! El? El, what are you doing here? You know you’re not supposed to be here right?” you asked Eleven, but looking at Max.
“SHE JUST- needed some girl time!” Max was quick to say, “The boys- they’re being real douchebags.”
You knew that all too well, especially with everything that’s been happening with Billy as of lately.
“Yeah. We- wanted to go..” El turned her head to look at Max for reassurance. When max nodded her head, a smile creeped onto her face and she continued confidently, “shopping.”
You stood there with arms crossed looking at both of the younger girls. You remembered what it was like being their age, and you knew that the girls wanted to just have some harmless fun. So you smiled while rolling your eyes.
“Fine, BUT- only on one condition,” you started “you guys have to hang out with me.”
The two girls both had giant smiles plastered on their faces. They looked at each other then looked back at you. They each took one of your hands and dragged you off to The Gap.
You and max both followed El around as she was looking around when she walked up to a display with a blue shirt with yellow, red and white lines on it.
“Do you like that?” Max asks
“How do I know, what I like?” El responds
“You just try things on, until you find something that feels like you. Not Hopper, not Mike, Not Y/N,” she says as she points to you. You do a little spin showcasing your style, “you”
>cue shopping spree montage<
At the end of trying on lots, and lots of clothes El finally decides on two new outfits and a new romper. Max ends up with a new pair of sunglasses and you leave with a new hat and a few new shirts.
You walk out of The Gap arm in arm with the two girls, giggling and smiling at each other like there is no one else in the world. The next thing you know, you’re being pulled into the Flash Studio.
You watch them dress up and take tons of pictures. Striking different poses and pretending to be someone else for the day. The even convinced you to take a couple of pictures with them. You truly were having the time of your life.
“How about some ice cream?” Max asks at the end of a fun filled day.
El looked at you with pleading puppy eyes begging you to say yes. She knew you wouldn’t say no to the puppy eyes.
You sighed and shook your head with a small smile on your face, “I don’t see why not.”
The three of you walk in to none other than Scoops Ahoy. You make your way up to the counter for the two girls to place an order. Right when Steve finishes making their cones and some other random cone Robin pulls open the divider,
“We’ve got our first sentence!”
“Really? Makin’ more progress than Harrington, huh?” you ask
“Can it Hopper” Steve says with a serious look on his face.
“The week is long” Robin says with a Russian accent.
“Well that’s thrilling.” Steve says sarcastically
“It’s progress!” she says before shutting the divider once again to continue her work.
Steve turns around holding three ice cream cones,
“Alright here ya go, you got a strawberry, and then a vanilla with sprinkles, extra whipped cream and a double scoop of peppermint stick.” he says handing the last cone to you.
The girls thank Steve but you just kind of look at him with a confused look.
“I didn’t ask for any ice cream Steve.” you say slightly confused
“It’s whatever, I know it’s like your favorite. On the house.” he says with a wink. He then turns to El, “Wait a second, are you even allowed to be here?”
Max and El start giggling and run away leaving you standing at the counter.
“Well, okay then.” he turns his attention to you.
“Guys, I think I’m just gonna hang out here until close! I’ll see you guys at home for dinner?” you half yell at the girls who are already out the door.
You walk around the counter and into the back room where Dustin and Robin were still sitting. They seemed to be discussing what they had found out and were trying to figure out what their next move would be. They just seemed to be all around struggling with the next few phrases.
The week is long, The silver cat feeds, When blue meets yellow in the west.
You weren’t sure if you should mention the fact that your mom, who knew Russian, taught you at a young age how to speak Russian, or if you should just wait to see if Steve remembers.
You choose to sit there and taunt them, making little side comments every now and then throwing them off track. The translation ended up taking well over 8 hours, seeing how they finished after the mall had already closed.
You all read out the whole phrase together for the first and final time for that day, the phrase didn’t really make any since, but you felt like this would be a good time to tell them what you had been hiding from them all day.
“You know we totally could’ve been done with this like 8 hours ago.” you say super casually.
“What?” the three of them as in unison looking at you like you were crazy.
“I mean you guys asked Robin if she knew how to speak Russian..”
“But we never asked you- dammit!” Steve yelled.
“Steve, what’s she talking about.” Robin asks already kind of knowing where this is going.
“I’ll catch you guys tomorrow!” You say with a smirk grabbing your bag and heading for the doors.
“Holy shit.” Dustin says finally connecting the dots
“She knows Russian, (Y/N) fucking knows Russian! Her mom taught her when she was in like, the first grade or something.” Steve sighs as he puts his head in his hands.
With the biggest smirk on your face you were out the door and in your truck headed back to the cabin.
><
You walk into the cabin to music playing loudly, but coming from El’s room. You knock on the door a few times and you open the door to see Max dancing around and El looking through on of your older magazines.
“Hey guys, just wanted to let you know I’m here and was wondering if you guys wanted anything to eat.” you asked the two girls.
They both looked at you and shook their heads and then returned back to what they were doing before you walked in.
You closed the door and headed to your room leaving the door open in case they needed anything.
Suddenly you heard the music cut off but it was soon replaced with static, that could only mean one thing.
The next thing you heard was them giggling over whatever El had seen, putting a small smile on your lips.
There was a loud engine that sounded like it was pulling into the driveway meaning that your dad had finally come home for the night after his date with Joyce.
You emerged from your room to talk to your dad about how his night went. He was so excited to finally get to take her out on a date. But when he walked in the house, he obviously looked extremely drunk and would most likely be hungover in the morning.
He looked at you and then looked at El’s closed door, he suddenly became filled with anger.
“Hey- HEY! When I say 3 inches,”
“Dad, wait it’s not what you-” you started to say as he marched furiously over to the door where he thought he would find Mike and El behind closed doors, “think.”
The door slams open and he finds not the couple, but only two innocent teenage girls lying on the floor looking at magazines and comic books.
You stand there awkwardly with your arms crossed, watching as the mess of your father tries to hold a small conversation with the girls. He turns shuts the door and turns around to face you with a blank look on his face.
“You’re so annoying, you know that?” You ask rolling your eyes slightly annoyed but mostly playful.
Hopper just has this smug look on his face, he goes to the fridge crack open a beer and gets on his recliner knowing that the little stunt he had pulled with Mike had worked.
You were finally ready to retreat to your room when Max pops her head out the door and asks you if you want to play a game with them and you happily oblige.
><
You sit down on the floor next to the bed where El and Max have a poster with names written on papers and a glass bottle, it almost looked like they were playing spin the bottle, except they would be using Eleven’s powers to spy on people.
They spin the bottle once and it lands on Mr.Wheeler and they decide that he’s too boring to spy on so they spin again and it lands on Billy.
“I don’t know, this might not be a good idea” Max says
“No!” you say almost a little too forcefully, “No, I want to know what he’s been up to. I really haven’t seen him in a few days.”
El nods her head, and puts the blindfold on as you grab the radio from her dresser and put it on a channel with nothing but static.
The two of you wait in silence for a few minutes before El says that she’s found him.
“What’s he doing?” Max asks
“I don’t know, he’s on the floor?” El says kind of confused, ‘Talking to someone.”
There’s a long pause before she rips off her blindfold, breathing very heavily.
“What? What happened?” you ask.
She just stares at you with a distraught look on her face, like she had seen something, something she wasn’t supposed to see.

Hi love ❤️your work is amazing and I was just wondering if you could write a Steve Harrington x Byers!reader where the reader is Jonathan and wills middle sister and she’s in the house when billy shows up and instead of Steve fighting billy the reader does and she puts up a good fight but billy beats the fuck out of here and when Steve gets to billy he freaks out and fights billy and wins and admits he likes the reader sorry if it’s so specific thank you love ❤️
Protect You
Steve Harrington x Byers!Reader
Warnings: Fluff, cursing, mentions of blood
hi anon!!! I’m so sorry this took so long, I just really wanted this to be accurate with the actual episode! I really enjoyed writing this and I hope you love it! (I kinda got carried away oops) and thank you so much for sending in a request!!
It seemed to you that all hell was breaking loose at the moment. As if your family hadn’t already been put through enough with your little brother Will’s disappearance a year ago, this year was somehow even worse, as Will was now possessed by this shadow monster thing, and you were too terrified to even question it. Your mom, brothers, and Nancy were currently in Hopper’s cabin, trying to expel the demon-like entity from Will’s body, Hopper and El were closing the gate at the lab, and you were at your house, along with Steve and four very chaotic children.
You had offered to stay at your house, because it was where you felt most safe, and also because dealing with four kids would have been too dangerous anywhere else. Steve had offered to stay and help hold down the fort, which you were thankful for because to be quite honest you were scared shitless and could use a little company from someone your own age. You also weren’t complaining because you had been crushing on Steve for a while now and having another opportunity to spend some time with him sounded pretty good to you. Well as good as things can be when you are fighting an inter-dimensional monster and all of its spawns. But nonetheless, you were glad Steve was here with you.
You had always seen Steve around school, and sure you thought he was cute, but his ego was always too much for you to handle. He was so concerned about his title as “King Steve” that you knew he would never give you the time of day. Then Nancy and Steve began dating and you shut off all of your feelings toward Steve for the sake of your friendship with Nancy. You two weren’t the closest of friends, but your brothers were best friends so you saw a lot of each other and you enjoyed her company from time to time. Now that Steve and Nancy had broken up, you felt the familiar feelings coming back, and you knew you were in for trouble. Now that Steve had become involved in this whole demogorgan thing, you got to see his true character. He was a really sweet guy, he enjoyed being around the kids, and you realized he wasn’t the duchy “King Steve” you thought he was. Now it seemed like he was just Steve.
But crushes and love were not what you were concerned about at the moment. The kids were all a little nervous, which was expected, but especially Mike. The poor kid just saw the love of his life for the first time after almost an entire year and she had just been swept away to complete the potentially most dangerous task of any of your lives. You felt bad for the kid. Steve and Dustin had just finished arguing about where to put the demodog, and the general consensus had somehow become your fridge.
“Is this okay?” Steve asked whilst shoving the creature into your refrigerator, “who am I kidding of course this isn’t okay. Jesus Christ Dustin, why couldn’t we just bury the damn thing!” Steve said shooting you and apologetic look.
“Because Steve! This is a scientific breakthrough and we can’t just bury it like a dog!” Dustin shouted passionately.
“I am so sorry, y/n” Steve said once the dog was successfully stored in the fridge, “We will buy you a new fridge.”
“Don’t worry Steve, we’ve got bigger issues at the moment,” You said, chucking slightly, still mind-blown that you were even in this situation. Not only were you nearing the apocalypse but your crush Steve was in your house with you, helping you babysit four kids.
Meanwhile Mike, Lucas and Max were orchestrating an elaborate plan to storm the tunnels and light a fire to distract the dogs and lead them away from the lab in order to protect El and Hopper.
“This is not happening. y/n and I promised to keep you shitheads safe, do you understand me?” Steve said, his inner babysitter coming out strong, making you swoon.
Before anyone could say a word you were interrupted by the sound of an engine revving furiously. Max jumped up and peered out the window. “That’s my brother! He can’t know I’m here, he’ll kill me. He’ll kill us!” She said, a panicked look forming on her face
“Don’t worry Max, Steve and I will take care of this,” You said, putting on your brave face. The apocalypse was literally looming over Hawkins, how bad could Billy Hargrove be? “He’s on my property now and I’ll make him leave. He can’t tell me no.” You said defiantly.
“No y/n,” Steve spoke up, “I don’t think that’s a good idea, you should stay in here with the kids.”
“It’s okay Steve, what’s the worst he could do?”
Max opened her mouth to speak against you, but before a word could come out you saw the bright headlights of Billy’s car pull into your drive way. Before anyone could stop you, you were opening your front door and walking out to meet Billy in the drive way. Steve followed behind you anxiously.
“Can I help you?” You asked, your attitude making an appearance. Billy snarled at your words and you suddenly had major regrets about coming outside.
“Yeah, what are you doing here, amigo?” Steve asked, now standing protectively in front of you.
“I could ask you the same thing.” Billy said. Tension becoming so thick you could practically cut it with a knife.
“We’re watching a movie,” You said, improvising, “Indiana Jones!”
Billy scoffed, “I’m looking for my sister.”
“I didn’t even know you had a sister Billy, what makes you think she would be here?” You asked, playing stupid.
“A little birdie told me she was here.”
“Huh, weird. No one’s here but me and y/n. You’re kinda interrupting movie night, so if you don’t mind…” Steve said, waving his hand off, motioning for Billy to leave.
“I don’t appreciate being lied to.” Billy snarled.
“Well she’s not here.” You spoke up.
“Then who is that?” Billy asked pointing behind you. You turned to see the four kids, looking our from the living room window.
Billy stormed past you barging through your front door. “Hey asshole, you can’t just barge in my house like this!” You shouted at him. Billy swiftly pushed you to the ground, knocking the wind out of you.
“Oh shit are you okay?” Steve asked, helping you up.
“I think so, just knocked the wind out of me.” You said standing and rushing into your house where Billy was currently holding Lucas against the wall.
Your inner motherly instincts kicked in and you suddenly had no fear of Billy whatsoever. “Don’t touch him!” You shouted, and suddenly you felt as if you soul had left your body and you were now functioning on autopilot as you punched Billy square in the face.
Unfortunately, your punch had virtually no affect on Billy, “Big mistake.” He said, a maniacal laugh coming from his lips. The next few moments were a blur to you. Billy threw a punch directly to your nose and you were sure it was broken as you felt a tremendous amount of blood gushing from it. Once you were on the ground he repeatedly kicked you in the ribs. He even kicked you in the side of the head and your ears began to ring, the pain becoming too much for you to handle. You heard shouting in the background, but it was only faint.
Suddenly you saw Steve come up from behind Billy. With one swift punch, Steve had knocked Billy on the floor, and was on top on him, repeatedly punching him in the face over and over again, Billy’s face becoming bloodier and bloodier by the second. A few moments passed before Billy was knocked out cold.
Steve got off of Billy and rushed over to where you were on the floor, a bloody and whimpering mess.
“Hey you’re okay,” Steve said, taking your face in his hand, “That asshole isn’t gonna hurt you anymore.” He whispered softly, eyes wide at the destruction Billy had caused to your body.
“Steve,” You whimpered, tears flowing liberally at this point.
“No, no y/n don’t cry, you’re okay, I got you.” He said, bending down and softly placing a kiss on your forehead. “I need to get you cleaned up. I’m going to take you back to your bedroom, okay y/n?” Steve said, gently picking you up and carrying you in his arms back to your room. He carefully placed you onto your bed making sure to be extra gentle.
“Just stay still okay, I’m going to get some bandages.” Steve said. You nodded your head slightly and closed your eyes, trying to focus on something other than the extreme pain you were in.
While Steve was in the bathroom gathering first aid supplies, you heard him talking to the kids. “She’s not good. There’s no way I’m leaving her to go into those tunnels. No way. It has to wait.”
“But Steve this is our only chance!” Dustin said.
“And what about Billy?” Lucas asked, “We can’t just leave him here?”
“I can drive us.” Max said, followed by protests from everyone else. “No I’ve done it before when Billy was drunk. I’m pretty good! Anyway, we can get Billy and drop him off at our house, he’ll be out cold for the night so there’s no chance he will wake up and try to find us. Then we can go to the tunnels ourselves while you stay here and take care of y/n. It’s a great plan!” Max said.
“Absolutely not.” You heard Steve say in his babysitter tone again. “A. I’m not letting you drive a car, you’re literally 9 years old. And B. I am definitely not letting you go into the tunnels alone.”
“So what, we wait here with Billy’s useless body and put El and Hopper in even more danger than they already are? I don’t think so Harrington!” Max yelled. You had to admit, Max was mature for her age and you didn’t doubt that she could drive a car. The thought of your favorite kids entering the terrifying tunnels alone made you shiver, but you also had to admit that it was better than leaving El and Hopper for dead.
“Steve please,” Max begged.
Steve huffed, “Fine. But please do not speed, and don’t forget to turn your headlights on. Also bring a walky-talky and make sure you radio in if anything happens. Okay?” He asked, and you heard everyone agree. “Please be careful. I’m trusting you guys.” Steve paused. “Let me put Billy in the backseat before you go.” You heard the sound of Steve lifting Billy’s unconscious body off the the floor and go outside, followed by faint voices from the kids. You heard an engine rev and you knew the kids had left.
“Hey sorry to take so long,” Steve said, and you saw that he hand an arm full of various towels, bandages, and rubbing alcohol to clean you up with.
“It’s all my fault.” You said, voice cracking and tears flowing again. You couldn’t handle the guilt you were already feeling at the thought of Mike, Lucas, Max, and Dustin in danger.
“Hey no its not, shh, you didn’t do anything wrong, y/n.” Steve said, sitting next to you, wrapping his arm around you as you leaned into him.
“I had to go and pick a fight with Billy and now you can’t even go with the kids to help them in the tunnels. I could have stayed behind, I would have been okay.” You cried.
“No, y/n I’m not leaving you.” Steve said, tightening his grip around you. “And I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I have faith in the kids. They’ve been through a lot. They can handle it.”
You began to cry harder now, “I’m just worried about them.”
“I know. I am too, but they’ll radio in if anything goes wrong.” Steve said, looking down at you, wiping a tear from your cheek. “Let’s get you cleaned up, alright? Just lay back okay, I’ve got you.”
You nodded, sniffling. The pain in you body was still debilitating, but you had become more aware of your surroundings. Steve was being the kindest person ever and you were in shock that you were in this crazy situation with Steve.
“This may hurt a little,” Steve said as he dabbed your nose with a wet towel, and you flinched. “I’m sorry, I’m almost done,” he said wiping away the rest of the blood from your face.
“I also brought you some ice to hold on your ribs, you got kicked pretty hard.” Steve said, handing you an ice pack.
“Thank you for taking care of me. You really didn’t have to… Will you come lay with me?” You asked, scooting over in your bed, whimpering at the pain your ribs were causing you.
“Of course,” Steve said, climbing onto the bed next you to. You leaned into him and he put his arm tightly around you shoulder. “I’m so glad you’re alright. I care about you so much and to see you get beat up like that hurt me a lot. I never wanna see you get hurt again, y/n.”
You began tearing up yet again at the thought of Steve being so kind to you. Never in your life had someone been as nice to you as Steve was being now.
“You look so beautiful when you cry. I mean it makes me really sad when you cry, but you’re so pretty.” Steve said, his face turning slightly red.
“Even after I just got pummeled?” You asked, giggling.
“Yes. Always, y/n. Actually,” Steve paused, “there’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you.” He took a deep breath, “These past few weeks I feel like we’ve gotten so close and I love it. I love being around you. I mean I always saw you in school and thought you seemed nice, but getting to know you has really made me see how awesome you are. You’re so kind to everyone, you’re a great friend, and you might even be a better babysitter than I am. But that’s beside the point. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I like you. Like a lot. And I can’t wait anymore, I had to tell you. I just care about you so much and seeing you hurt makes me realize that I want to be there to protect you forever.”
“Steve,” You said, not much louder than a whisper. You were so shocked and your emotions were already all over the place that you could help but let the tears flow again.
“I’m sorry if that was too much, you don’t have to say anything back. I’m sorry if I made this weird-“
You cut him off, “I like you too, a lot actually.” You signed a breath of relief, finally getting it off of your chest. “I’m kinda embarrassed to tell you, but I’ve kinda liked you since sophomore year.”
“Really?” Steve asked, a shocked look on his face, followed by a goofy smile, you nodded. “This is amazing. I can’t believe this is actually happening! The girl of my dreams likes me back!!” Steve said, more to himself this time, making you blush.
You snuggled closer into Steve, if that was even possible.
“What do you say when all of this is over, and if we actually make it out alive, you let me take you on a date?” Steve asked.
“I would love that.” You said, sighing. Despite the current situation your heart couldn’t be more happy.
“Good. So would I.” Steve said, looking down at you, staring into your eyes. He slowly began to lean in, you did as well, almost like you were a magnet being pulled towards him. Steve’s lips gently landed on yours, and you depend this kiss, leaning into him slightly for a few seconds before pulling away.
“Wow.” Steve said with wide eyes.
“Yeah, wow.” You said.
“I’m never leaving you, y/n. I’m always going to be here to protect you. I promise.” Steve said, and eventually the two of you drifted off to sleep.
A few hours later you were woken by the sound of people entering your house. You sat up quickly, worried you may be in danger.
“Don’t worry,”  said Steve who was awake next to you, “it’s you mom and brothers, and everyone. Everything’s okay. Its over.” Steve said, pulling you into a tight embrace, not letting you go for anything, and knowing he would continue to protect you and never let you go as long as he could help it.

My Byler theories/predictions for S4
Since s4 is already confirmed to not be the last season, I don’t think Byler will officially get together in s4. I do think that we are definitely going to get a large amount of Byler’s development in s4 though, we just aren’t at the finish line yet. Since Byler has been being developed all through each of the seasons, I think the writers are playing the long game with Mike and Will. I really appreciate a queer romance that is so well developped, especially in something so popular! I think the season will end on a note where it’s understood what Mike has been struggling with, It’s made known that Will is gay, and that Mike has feelings for Will, and Will has feelings for Mike.
My predictions/theories for Byler in s4:
Mike might be acting a little off at school and Dustin is going to notice his odd behavior and ask what’s up
I think Mike will be getting in trouble at school and at home (based on whenever he doesn’t have Will/El around he does stupid things - like graffitti the bathroom wall, plagiarize essays, curse at adults, etc.) I don’t know if Mike knows about Eddie dealing drugs, but he might and he might get drugs from Eddie and do them to cope with everything he is struggling with. His parents might ground him for doing drugs, and forbid him from going to visit the Byers, and then we could get our runaway smalltown boy montage! LOL
Lonnie might come to visit the Byers in California for Will’s birthday. He will probably show up because he thinks they have money now, or he wants to sue Starcourt like he wanted to sue the quarry in s1. Mike will also be there visiting for Will’s birthday. Lonnie will mock Will and make fun of him like he always did, but he will also hate Mike. Lonnie will definitely notice Will and Mike’s dynamics and he will definitely comment about it. He might even call them homophobic slurs like we know he used to do with Will when he was younger. Lonnie will probably make Will cry and Mike upset. Lonnie might possibly “out” him and Mike before they are out and confirm it themselves. Some of the movies on the stranger writers twitter for s4 also hint at this, as well as having the baseball references. There are also hints to Will’s birthday throughout the show: The rainbow happy birthday mug seen in the crazy together scene, the “sorry i forgot your birthday card” in Will’s room from Lonnie, and Joyce’s speech in the shed discussing Will’s 8th birthday and his “rainbow ship”. Jonathan also mentions how Lonnie made him kill a rabbit on his 10th birthday and he cried for a week after, just more hints that if Lonnie shows up for Will’s bday, it’s gonna be bad.
Mike might get Will a watch for his birthday. This would reference the clocks being central to the s4 plot, and “not wanting things to change/turning back the clock” in Hopper’s letter
Will is being homophobically bullied at his new school again, possibly references to Will having HIV/AIDS because the height of the epidemic was in the 80’s and it was very stigmatized
Mike will call Will more than he will call El. Will might be slightly surprised by this, El’s frequent calling will annoy Mike and he might turn off his walkie talkie. (basically the reverse of what Mike said would happen in the s3 ending mileven scene)
Mike and Will will be in the same location for most of the season, like s2. They will not leave each other’s sides for the majority of the time they are together.
S4 Group Predictions:
- El, Will, Mike trio together with Jonathan and Argyle. (we will get some obvious tension between El, Will, and Mike, and Mike will hate Argyle at first)
- Robin, Steve, Erica, Max, Dustin, Lucas, Vickie, Eddie, Nancy
- Joyce, Murray, etc?
- Hopper and the other Russians (Dimitri, etc)
The rift between Mike and El will continue to grow.
When Mike comes to visit, she will notice he seems much more interested in Will.
El will ask why the bullies call Will those things (queer/fairy/gay/homo, probably f slurs too), what it means and if he really is “a queer”.
I don’t know if Will is going to come out to El. They have never interacted before, and I doubt Will trusts her or really likes her much mainly, because of Mike. Unless they get super close during the time not portrayed on screen between s3 and s4, or by being all each other has in California, I don’t know if  he will come out to El. I could see this going either way depending on how their friendship develops. I definitely do not think Will is going to tell El he likes Mike, even if he does confide in her he is gay. I think she will find out eventually but in some other way, probably just from Mike’s behavior towards Will.
El will eventually realize she doesn’t actually love Mike and let go of the ‘romance’ aspect of their bond, but still highly value him as a friend.
Mike might be called homophobic slurs at school as well. Mike will definitely be teased (regardless of his sexuality) because he is in the hellfire club and since satanic panic is sweeping the town, people look at D&D as if it is a satanic game, and he will be teased because of that.
Based on the leaked bts pics, I have a theory a cheerleader, or someone else, might show interest in Mike.  Mike will not reciprocate and she will call him out for it asking why he doesn't like her because “any other guy at this school would” or something like that, maybe even ask “what are you gay or something”. It would certainly be good for Mike’s narrative but idk if it will happen.
Will may confide in Jonathan about his feelings for Mike and the things the bullies say to him at school. Jonathan will be supportive of Will, as will Joyce. I think he will also try to protect Will from Lonnie and they will both defend Will to Lonnie.
I think we need a scene of Mike with his Mom telling him to follow his heart, like who you like, etc. because life is too short to waste it being miserable or something like that. This could be inspired by Mike’s parents seperating, but idk. This could also encourage Mike to initiate more romantic things with Will.
I would love to get a scene of Will confronting Mike for “Joining another party”, after Will said he wouldn’t.
Will and Mike need to discuss what was said in their fight.
I think since Mike's been holding in a lot of turmoil and struggling with his sexuality for so long we might get a small breakdown scene from him, of him telling Will he’s really sorry for how he treated him last summer, and for all the things he said to Will. Mike will profusely apologize and also hint at how he’s confused and been dealing with a lot.
I think Mike will be the first one to break down and confess he has feelings for Will and has been struggling with coming to terms with his sexuality.
Once Will has confirmation Mike is also struggling with his sexuality, Will might come out to him. I would love for him to reference the fight being like “You were right. I don’t like girls.” (from @itsonlystrange ‘s 4x07 byler script it’s so good!) I don't know if Will will confess he likes Mike to his face or not. I don't think it's likely given how shy Will is and how afraid he is of Mike not reciprocating, but who knows.
Mike may initiate a kiss between him and Will - towards the end of the season probably (eyewitness parallel - explained in my byler proof google slides)
I think Mike and Will might write letters to each other, with some love-y connotations. There is a lot of evidence for this in the canon comics of them writing notes to each other, and that cryptic tweet from stranger writers twitter with a blocked out message and the date Will went missing saying it wasn’t about a couple or hopper. Maybe byler related? This tweet may not be a letter but it might be. The most popular theories are that the message is to Will, “love mike”, which I love. https://twitter.com/strangerwriters/status/1184945905973153792?lang=en
Will has a new haircut (bts pics) and Mike will gush over it. Maybe some gay-panicking too hopefully
I think El will be either physically or at least emotionally distant the entire season from the other kids (again following the pattern of even and odd seasons) El needs some personal development this season, since she didn’t get any in s3.
El might confront Mike and ask if he is gay and if he likes Will, which could be El’s motivation to go off on a journey of her own to learn more about her own life. I don’t think it will be a huge fight, but El might make some references to him always lying to her. I think Mike might just kind of try to talk his way out of it at first, but he will eventually break. This might be a two part discussion and Mike doesn’t admit she is right until later. I don’t think it makes sense for El to be heartbroken (explained in my byler proof slides), just slightly annoyed. This is based off of the movie Tootsie which they borrowed the “gift” idea from in s3 already. In the movie, the girlfriend then after receiving the gift asks “Michael” if he is gay.
I really think eventually El will realize it’s okay because she doesn’t love him romantically either, and once she realizes that her own personal development can really begin.
I think we will see a noticeable change in Mike’s demeanor. I think Mike will mainly just be trying to hide that he is gay now. He joined the hellfire club so we know he’s playing d&d again meaning he is reverting back to his true self, not the weird act he put on in s3 trying to be straight and change himself. He is still struggling, but he knows he likes Will. Regardless that doesn’t mean he is going to be super clear about how he feels. He is going to be extremely afraid of opening up and then getting hurt by Will. He will probably do some of his usual ‘lead Will on and then shut it down’ thing. And I really want Will to call him out on this. This could also lead to Mike breaking down in front of Will and confessing. I think we are going to get a lot of 'Mike gay panicking' moments, he's going to be extremely afraid of being found out/suspected.
Byler things I really want to happen that we may get because they would have narrative significance:
I really want flashbacks to those 3 months of summer between the starcourt explosion and the Byers moving, of moments between Mike and Will when they hang out alone together, with some obvious romantic tension. Like where they are super playful and almost kiss, or they are kind of touchy, or something in the realm of that. I think we need a flashback of something that explains Will’s flirty nature at the very end of s3 with Mike, because he doesn't normally act like that. I want noticeable “is something going on with them?” vibes. This could also happen during the thanksgiving/christmas flashbacks.
I hope we get flashbacks of Mike going to the Byers for Thanksgiving, and the Byers coming back to Hawkins for Christmas. Preferably of some Mike and Will moments that hint at Mike’s confusion or how he feels “so alone” without Will, maybe with some “crazy together” references too! I’d also love some tension between the 3 of them, maybe this is when El starts to get suspicious of Mike liking Will.
Hopefully we get some shots of Mike biking past the byers old house and going to look at castle byers and reminiscing.
I’d love to get a flashback of Mike the day the Byers moved away, of him crying or being upset, alone in his room/basement while looking at Will’s drawings or pictures of Will and him together. Mainly to confirm for people that Mike was upset about Will moving, not as much El.
This one does not seem super probable, but it is a very popular theory. Idk if it’s possible because of location logistics, but if they spend enough time together, I’d love for Mike to get to know Robin better, and Will too. Maybe once everyone comes together at the end of the season, she will notice their dynamics and could help guide and inspire them to be themselves. Hey maybe thats for s5 :) But I do think it’s a possibility that Mike may work at the video store with Steve and Robin, and she will pick up on Mike’s behavior and understand, whether she communicates that to him or not.

learning to heal (part 4)
excerpt: Mike wouldn’t let his shitty mood affect the happy air surrounding the Party. He wouldn’t be the one to make everyone upset because he had to spazz out like in the last month of freshman year when he panicked in the middle of a celebratory dinner because the waitress kept giving him looks like she knew his darkest secrets. Like she knew he liked boys and found one of his teammates cute enough to be a little flustered about it. Like she knew he and his friends were monster hunters and got 30 people killed during the summer of ‘85.

“You took your time getting here!”
Mike rolled his eyes as he, Will, El, and Lucas skidded to a stop by the driveway to Dustin’s house. He was sitting on the curb with his bike and angrily glared at the late quartet. Lucas gave Mike and Will the stink eye as he bounded off his bike to stand by Dustin.
“You can blame Will and Mike; they took their sweet time getting to my place as if I don’t live a few houses away.”
Will shrugged and started biking in small circles in the driveway. El was gripping onto his waist and leaning her head on his back as he went by. “Sorry we’re late, Dustin. Mike and I went to bed later than expected and got kinda distracted when we woke up.”
“Distracted by what?” Lucas snorted. “Dust mites? The way sun filters through Mike’s shitty drapes? The feeling of blankets on your skin?”
Mike and Will exchanged a look, a look that screamed of guiltiness, and Dustin groaned. “Does it really matter what they were doing? We need to get Max and leave before the diner gets too full and starts making Mike antsy.”
Will halted his bike near Mike and he watched El’s grip on Will tighten more. “Antsy?”
“Yeah. Crowds sometimes get to me, but it’s not a big deal.” Mike shrugged and turned toward Lucas and Dustin, who raised suspicion-arched eyebrows at his words. “What? It’s really not a big deal.”
“You threw up in the back of Steve’s car just thinking about the crowd during your first relay race. Oh also, we tried to go to the movies to watch The Voyage Home last month and you spent half the movie in the bathroom doing breathing exercises.”
Lucas started laughing. “Oh my god, I still remember Mike’s face when he came back and saw the humpback whales and Spock’s headband and got so confused.”
“Hey! Look, the humpback whales part made no sense.”
“I told you already, Mike,” groaned Dustin, “Spock and Kirk needed to find the whales that sang at the same frequency as the probe since humpbacks are extinct in the future.”
“It’s still stupid! Same with Spock saying ‘the hell’ every five minutes. I didn’t miss much of anything being in the bathroom.”
“Well, I like The Voyage Home . It was a good conclusion to the trilogy.”
Mike turned on Will with an exaggerated gasp. “You wound me, Byers.”
“Are you really gonna stand here and let Will get away with acting like TMP doesn’t exist?”
“Yes, Lucas, I am, because that movie sucked ass.”
“This is why I’m a Star Wars nerd!” cried out Dustin as he stood up. “We can all at least agree that The Empire Strikes Back is the best of the three.”
Silence took to the air. Mike spoke up first. “Actually...”
“Finish that sentence, Mike, and you won’t have a tongue to continue it.”
El giggled from behind Will and Mike turned to face her out of instinct. She noticed his gaze but didn’t make eye contact and continued to stare ahead. Something in Mike broke a little seeing El unwilling to even just give him a smile. He knew he had no right to be upset over how she took the breakup even if it has been months already, he knew he broke her heart this past summer and he too was still pained by the ordeal, but he had hoped at least that maybe when they saw each other face to face it would be a happier occasion.
Will reached out to squeeze Mike’s arm and then turned back to Dustin and Lucas. “Let’s go get Max, then. She can give us a tie breaker opinion if we need it.”
Max was not enthusiastic about being asked to choose which Star Wars movie she thought was the best and mostly kept saying Return of the Jedi just to annoy Lucas. Will biked next to Mike when El transferred to Max and rode with her toward Main Street. Mike kept sending his boyfriend glances during the ride and he was always a little flustered when they happened to make eye contact and Will’s lips lifted into a small shy smile. There was something refreshing in being able to turn to his side and find such comfort as he did in Will as a best friend and as his significant other.
Mike couldn’t wait to tell the Party about how much he loved Will, about how lucky he was to fall for someone as kind and caring as the other boy. Even better, he was so extremely lucky that Will loved him back. It was nice to have this private happiness for himself and Will to share in by themselves—well, his mom and Will’s mom knew but they only ever exchanged knowing smiles whenever they caught Will and Mike standing a little closer than usual and trying to sneak cheek kisses when they passed each other by—but Mike was beyond ready to tell his friends.
Lunch was normal as usual: rowdy, loud, and uplifting as hanging out with friends usually went. Sometimes they were all so happy and normal that Mike could forget about the dark thoughts ruminating in the back of his mind, the memories that threatened to consume him when he closed his eyes to darkness. He could forget that no one knew what he hadn’t done to save people, no one knew that the monster built from the bodies and blood of their neighbors that terrorized Starcourt was a product of negligence.
It was weird how survivor's guilt worked. Mike never thought he’d really be faced with the troubling issue but he couldn’t help feeling like if they had done more, if he had focused more on what Will was facing, on what Dustin had found with Cerebo, maybe they could have saved more people. Maybe then the young couple from five houses down wouldn’t have been absorbed into a flesh monster and have their autonomy ripped from them as they melted into the single-focused mind of the Mind Flayer. Maybe then El wouldn’t be powerless, fatherless, Mikeless—not that he was the only person El lost but their closeness and desire to be together was a huge part of both their lives and losing that affected both of them.
Mike sighed to himself and closed his eyes as he leaned back in his chair. Will, who was sat across from him, nudged Mike’s foot with his own and sent him a concerned look. Mike smiled back—he was fine, just thinking too hard—and nudged Will’s foot in turn. Will nudged twice, Mike nudged twice, and then they kept playing footsie under the table until Max called them out for shaking the table. Dustin then tried to have a soda chugging contest with Lucas and won with Max’s encouragement, which made Lucas playfully salty and he brooded for a good minute and talked only to El, who humored him lightly.
Will ordered a milkshake to share with Mike while the others chatted excitedly between themselves about the New Year’s celebration and fireworks that would be happening where the fair was usually held. Mike would much prefer to stay indoors watching Dick Clark count the ball drop, but he knew social interaction and connection with his friends was what he needed most. He had already spent so much of his freshman year avoiding people whenever possible; the only reason why his friends knew about his therapy sessions and medication was because they ran into him the day after he missed school and pestered him for details. Mike couldn’t even give a good reason as to why he didn’t tell Will and El, too, why he left them in the dark despite the fact they were the most important people in his life.
Mike squeezed his eyes shut and flexed his hands on the table. Now was not the time for this. He wouldn’t let his shitty mood affect the happy air surrounding the Party.
“Mike,” Will called out and the soft tone brought Mike back to the table and the conversation. The vanilla milkshake stood between them untouched and he frowned. He didn’t remember hearing the waiter stop by at all. Was he that entrenched in his thoughts to block out all other senses and trap himself in his head?
“You good?” Lucas asked from Mike’s other side, chewing on a fry as nonchalantly as possible.
Mike nodded. “I’m good. Just distracted.”
“We were just talking about X-Men, it’s no biggie,” added Dustin. “Max got some comics and has been reading a few to El so we wanted to discuss some fave runs.”
Mike’s brain was blanking on him. He couldn’t even think of anything concerning X-Men besides Professor X and Cyclops. He shrugged and turned to the milkshake to occupy his mouth so he didn’t have to actually offer an opinion. He could feel Will’s eyes on him and he looked up while slurping at the shake and made eye contact. Will rolled his eyes but his cheeks were flushed and the sight made Mike smile a little. He nudged Will under the table and mouthed I love you as best he could while blocking the side of his mouth from Lucas next to him.
Will’s smile grew more and he tried to hide it behind his straw but he fell out into giggles and caught everyone else’s attention. Dustin rolled his eyes and stage whispered to El beside him, “They’re back at it again, using that secret best-friends-since-we-were-five telepathy.”
Mike stuck his tongue out at his friend after a small chuckle. “You’re just jealous that all it takes is one glance from me for Will to lose his cool.”
“Hey, I’m not that easy to break.” Will retorted with a small kick under the table. Mike pretended it hurt more than it actually did and moaned as he dramatically grabbed at his ankle.
“My ankles are and I kinda need them for track!”
Will sputtered and then fell out laughing again. Lucas was cackling into his fries and Max was helping him by patting his back when he started to choke from laughing so hard. El was watching Mike, he could feel her eyes on him, and he chanced a glance with a small smile he hoped didn’t look like a grimace.
El maintained eye contact for about two seconds before she blinked and reached over to steal a few of Max’s fries. Mike considered it a success and turned back to finish his milkshake with Will. On the ride back, Mike and Lucas rode side-by-side in the back while Will and Dustin rode together up front and El and Max rode between the two pairs of bikers. Lucas was silent for a while before he spoke up with a huff.
“So, you and Will finally pulled your heads out your asses and hooked up.”
Mike nearly biked into a tree from the shock of the sudden statement. He coughed heavily and then gave his friend a glance. “What makes you say that?”
“You have a very expressive face,” the other boy chuckled to himself. “It’s how I knew you weren’t doing too hot in a really bad way even before you went to the doctor.”
Mike bit his bottom lip. “I know you don’t want me saying thanks or whatever but I really am glad you stuck with me through that.”
“What else would I do? You’re my friend and friends don’t ditch each other when in need.” Lucas smiled. “We’ve been friends far too long; I don’t care if you’re a jock track star now, to me you’re still goofy ass nerd Mike Wheeler with the fattest crush on his equally lovesick best friend.”
Mike laughed and felt a little warmth in his chest from the comment. Lucas was always blunt and direct, which is probably why he worked so well with Max, who was equally as blunt and direct. Lucas was just as loyal as anyone else in the Party and he and Mike has been friends the longest only after Mike and Will. Mike loved him so deeply and trusted him just as much.
“Was it that obvious?”
Lucas cackled. “Are you seriously asking that question? Dude, I thought you were gonna die when Will announced he was moving. And the way you spent practically all the rest of that summer at his side? Mike, you may be oblivious but Dustin and I have eyes and we use ‘em.”
“Dustin knows, too?”
“I don’t think he knows you two are together now but yeah, he knows you like Will.” Lucas shrugged. “It was kinda just a part of the group dynamic, you know? You two liking each other and always dancing around it as if we couldn’t tell, as if you each didn’t know yourselves.” The boy huffed with a smirk. “Dustin and I used to joke about what excuse you two would pull out of a hat for Will to stay over.”
“There were never any excuses!”
Lucas laughed again. “I know but it was fun to guess. Point is, hell yeah we know. I love El and really wanted you two to work things out because you each make each other happy and you deserve that. We all do.” Mike nodded solemnly. “Still, there was always a part of me that hoped that maybe, just maybe, you and Will could find happiness together like before the Demogorgon.”
“Wow.” Mike slowed his bike as they rolled down a hill. “You know, speaking of the Demogorgon, I think I’m gonna tell my mom about everything that happened.”
Lucas gaped. “You’re what ? I thought you were gonna keep that locked up forever.”
“Yeah, but…” Mike glared at the ground. “She helped me and Will get together. She wants me to be happy and the only way that’s gonna happen is if she knows why I’m not.”
“Well, at least you’re admitting it now.”
“That I’m dating Will or that I’m depressed?”
“Both but I meant your depression.” Lucas sighed. “I know you don’t like talking about it and you like pretending that life doesn’t terrify you, but it’s okay to speak up with us. Me, Dustin, and Max. We want you to feel better, too. Don’t forget that.”
Mike’s voice was a low whisper when he replied. “I know. I’m sorry.”
“Don’t apologize, man,” groaned Lucas as he scuffed his tire against the curb, “Friends don’t need apologies or whatever for being friends.”
“I know, but—,”
“Shut up, Mike, and let it go, alright?” The boy sent Mike a warm smile. “You love to talk but right now just, I don’t know, listen and find comfort in that, yeah?”
“Yeah.”
“I said shut up.”
Mike rolled his eyes and steered his bike toward Lucas, who yelped and sped up his pace to avoid collision. Mike laughed and watched Lucas catch up to Dustin and Will loudly exclaiming how Mike was trying to run him into the snow. The rest of the ride to the Wheeler’s was spent in silence but Mike could feel the anxiety bubbling inside as he thought about what he would tell his mom. Will parked his bike beside him when they arrived, gently gripping his arm while everyone also attempted to suspend the inevitable split up caused by arrival.
“Good luck,” Lucas muttered when he hopped off his bike to give Mike a hug. “Call me if you need anything, alright?”
“Of course, dude.” Mike chuckled and hugged his friend back. “See you tomorrow.”
El hopped off Max’s bike and made her way to Mike and Will with a small hum. Max waved goodbye and the three watched their friends bike away as the chill of winter sank into their bones. Will shivered and Mike grabbed his hand to lead him inside, turning to hold out a hand for El as well. She blinked twice and frowned but took his hand, too, gently twining their fingers in a promise that the anger and heartbreak wouldn’t keep them from being friends. Not for long at least.
With his closest friends’ hands in his own, Mike felt courage seep into his soul and feed him the strength he needed to tell his mom the truth behind his misery.
“Mom,” he called out shakily, Will’s grip tightening with much-needed comfort.
His mom was upstairs but she came down at the sound of Mike’s voice and smiled warmly as she saw him holding hands with Will and El. “Mike,” she started happily, “I’m assuming the lunch meet went well.”
“Really well,” Mike shuffled on his feet and sent El a glance. “I, uh, I actually need to tell you something really important. And you can’t tell anyone else.”
She raised her eyebrows and tentatively sat down on the couch. “You know I won’t tell anyone about...about you liking boys. I’ll love you still, I do love you still.
Mike coughed and looked upstairs in hopes that his dad wasn’t eavesdropping. “No, I mean, I do but that’s not this conversation.”
And what a weird thing to confess about so easily. Mike liked boys. Only boys. And he confirmed it so easily like any other ‘yes or no’ question. Something in his gut churned, a mixture of relief that his mom truly didn’t care and loved him still, and fright that he confirmed aloud that his attraction to boys and boys only was real.
“What’s going on, Mike?”
The boy turned to Will and then sent his mom an apologetic glance. “When Will disappeared in ‘83, he didn’t just disappear. He was kidnapped by a monster from another dimension that got to him through a gate El opened with her mind.”
Mike’s mom blinked twice and then started laughing though she tried to hide it with a hand to her mouth. “Is that the story you kids told yourselves to deal with the fact he was missing?”
“No, Mrs. Wheeler, it’s real.” Will lifted up his shirt just enough for the burn scar to be visible. It made Mike sick to think about it, think about how they had to burn the Mind Flayer out of Will. “This scar isn’t from the stove. The monster possessed me in ‘84 and my mom and Mike and Hopper helped excise it from me. El closed the gate, too.”
“And then in ‘85,” Mike swallowed the lump in his throat, “the monster came back and...it melted our neighbors into a machine made of human flesh, blood, and bone. The gate was reopened and Hopper died trying to close it.”
“I was the one who found Will,” El spoke up hesitantly. “I found him in my mind. I can find anyone in my mind.”
Mike sent her a smile. “El has really cool powers actually; she can flip cars and levitate objects and I actually hid her in the basement during ‘83 while Will was missing.” Karen’s jaw dropped. “I’m still amazed you didn’t notice.”
“Can she,” Karen turned to El with curiosity. “Can she demonstrate?”
El shifted uncomfortably and Will spoke up. “Her powers are gone now thanks to the monster but it’s real. It’s all real.”
Karen blinked multiple times, eyes darting between the three kids with disbelief written in her eyes. She settled her gaze on Mike and crumpled. “Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”
Mike was stuck between surprise that she accepted everything so easily and guilt that he kept this to himself for so long. “I legally couldn’t; the US government is involved in all of this,” he waved between himself, Will, and El, “but you deserve to know why...why I needed therapy. Why I can’t sleep at night, how me and El met in the first place, why I fell apart when the Byers left. Why I’m so fucked up.”
Will’s grip on his hand tightened just enough and he presses himself closer to Mike’s side as a comforting force against his rapidly declining thoughts. Karen stood up and made her way to Mike with tears pooling in her emotional eyes. He was taller than her, head bowed down as he fought his own tears back— pathetic; be a leader, Michael —but he managed to make eye contact with her regardless.
“You are dealing with so much, my dear,” she started quietly. “I’m sorry you felt you had to carry the burden yourself.”
“Dustin and Lucas and Max know. Nancy, too.” Mike rubbed at the back of his neck. “The monster got Barb back then.”
Karen gasped with a hand to her mouth. “Oh, poor girl.” The woman closed her eyes to keep her tears back and then opened them with a shaky smile drawn on her painted lips. “I’m so glad you finally told me.”
Mike shrugged but he could feel happiness threatening to blossom in his chest. “I, uh, well, having Will and El back reminded me that I don’t have anyone else in the house who knows . Nancy does yeah but she doesn’t like to talk about it. And neither do I really but she’s my sister and we don’t talk about a lot of things.”
“You two are close.”
“Yeah, but she doesn’t know that I don’t even want to be on the track team but she looks so happy seeing me on the field; I can’t take that away from her!” Mike clenched his fists angrily as the words spilled from his mouth. “She doesn’t know about me and Will or that I’m—,” the word wouldn’t come out but Mike knew they all knew what he wanted to say. “She doesn’t know a lot of things. But you do. Everything but the secret about the Upside Down. And I can’t keep this up! This lie about who I am, what I’ve seen, what I’ve done .”
Karen rushed to take Mike in her arms and he fell into her embrace just as quickly. Mike felt Will and El release his hands so he could wrap his arms around his mom and hug her tightly. She was sniffling a little, gently rubbing his back and it made Mike feel like a kid again but in a good way. It made him feel like he was 6 or 7, being soothed after falling off his bike in the driveway and scratching his knee. It made him feel like what he just relayed to his mom could easily be bandaged over like that scrape.
“Mike, I love you.” was all she said and it was all Mike wanted to hear, all he needed to hear. “I just want you to be happy . You can quit track, you can join theater, you can do whatever you want, I don’t care.” She took his face in her hands and fixed him with a steady glare. Mike couldn’t look away even if he wanted to. “If there’s anything I’ve learned in life, it’s learning to be yourself. Let yourself be who you are, not who everyone wants you to be.”
Mike frowned. “Is this why you and Dad are thinking about getting a divorce?”
Karen froze and bowed her head. “Yes. I’m sorry. You weren’t supposed to know.”
“I can handle it. He barely cared about me anyway.” Mike huffed and reached up to squeeze his mom’s hand. “I love you, Mom, yeah? We’ll both be happy.”
Karen grinned and Mike watched her turn to Will and El with equally wide smiles. El was the first to initiate the hug, brown pigtails whipping around with the intensity of the action. Will turned to wrap his arms around Mike from behind and pressed his face into his back with a hum. Mike laid his hands over Will’s and leaned into the touch with a smile. The conversation went a lot easier than Mike thought it would and the weight off his shoulders had him a little weak in the knees.
He was so lucky, oh so lucky , to have the people in his life that he did.
And when New Year’s Eve came the next day, Mike and Will told their friends about their new relationship just as they planned. Dustin pulled the two into one armed hugs, Lucas shared a knowing look with Mike, Max gave Will a high five for it all, and El...she smiled and nodded with approval and even though she already knew thanks to the conversation with his mom the day before, it was great to have her support confirmed.
“10 seconds until the new year,” started Lucas as he rocked Max in his arms.
“8 now!” Dustin shouted as he took El into his own arms for a tight hug. She laughed and patted his cheeks with a wide grin.
“5 seconds,” whispered Will into Mike’s ear as he held him close to his chest. The Party was toward the back of the crowd, hidden from the gazes of Hawkins as all eyes took to the sky in preparation for the fireworks show.
“3.” A warm kiss to the shell of Mike’s ear.
“2.” A lingering kiss to the nape of his neck.
“1.” A soft breath against his cheek.
Mike twisted and grabbed his boyfriend’s face as the crowd cheered Happy New Year and the fireworks lit up the sky. He looked into green eyes, traced the reflection of pyrotechnics in those sparkling orbs, and leaned in for their first kiss of 1987. Will smiled into it, pulled Mike closer, and ignored the whoops and cheers of their friends surrounding them.
“I love you,” Mike murmured when he pulled away, then turned to the rest of his friends. “I love you all, man. You’re the best friends a guy could ask for.”
“And we love you, too, Mike.” Dustin tagged on with a grin. “Our baby leader.”
Mike rolled his eyes and punched the other boy in the arm with a chuckle. El watched him carefully and then reached out a hand for Mike’s own. He passed it along, worry in his chest as her brown eyes filled with emotion he couldn’t understand. “I love you,” she said and it was different. It was different than the last time, not as desperate, not as needy. It was resignation and acceptance in three words, understanding and moving on in one: love .
“I love you, too,” he breathed out and then pulled the younger girl into his arms. She pressed her face into his chest and clung onto his shirt with shaking fists. “Thank you.”
El laughed. “Next time, don’t hide yourself from me. Or Will. Or yourself.”
A chill ran down his spine but he shook it off and straightened the messy hair on her head. “I’ll do my best.”
“That’s all anyone can ask for.”
