chapter 10- tartarus

pairing: god!namjoon x goddess!reader

genre: fluff, angst, smut

warnings: mention of sex, talk of killing a person, nothing too bad, also (probably wrong) use of greek language kun means bitch :D

a/n: i am so sorry for the long long long loooooooooooooooooooong wait for this chapter. and with it being short too(?) yeah i deserve to be cursed out lol. But anyway! my beta (somebody’s uncle; as they would like to be called) wants a redemption arc?

By the time they made it to the pit of Tartarus, Persephone was thoroughly satiated. Namjoon had her orgasm on his tongue multiple times. He had tried to do more, but Persephone stopped him.

“You don’t want a lowly servant like Hyojin to witness the most precious thing you will ever have?”

He sighed before leaning back in his seat, “No, I don’t. But perhaps when we get back to the castle…” He trailed off, giving her his puppy eyes.

“We’ll see. It depends on how I feel.”

“Right,” he said before placing another kiss on her lips and sitting her upright.

He glanced at Hyojin, who was still shaking and crying, and shook his head in disgust. If only he had known that the woman was going mad from being his personal servant for so long, he would have let her go to the Meadows long ago. He knew she had a crush, but nothing that he couldn’t handle. A small smile here and there shouldn’t have made her leap over the canyon of insanity.

To think she would be queen and be on Namjoon’s side was bold of her–and quite stupid, he thought to himself. She wouldn’t have been able to handle Yoongi or Taehyung. Two of the most…uncanny gods Namjoon dealt with on a regular basis. She rudely gave orders to Jungkook (whenever he couldn’t himself) and never said sorry; according to the ferryman, who once cried on Namjoon’s shoulder after an altercation with Hyojin, she had thrown one of his oars into the styx after a late shipment. He had to swim down and pray that he came to the surface on time.

Of course, Persephone had slit Jungkook’s lip and gum with a drachma, but she did apologize afterwards. And it did get him a new boat–well, that one may have been a result of an overcrowding issue that Namjoon should have resolved years ago.

Persephone had put Yoongi in his place mostly by insulting his famous shoes. She had made her own demands–hours before sitting on her own throne.

But that’s what Namjoon wanted in a queen. Someone who wasn’t afraid of making even Zeus understand what fear is. Persephone silenced any room she walked in, garnering respect and full-attention.

He moved his eyes to his wife who sat regal next to him, but he could tell that she was studying the plane of the Underworld. He couldn’t quite figure out if she was overwhelmed or excited of how much kingdom they had to rule together. Knowing her, though, she was already listing everything that was wrong in each realm. Gods knew he had piles of organizational mess-ups when it came to Asphodel.

“Is that Tartarus?”

Namjoon had been so lost in his thoughts that he had forgotten about their destination. He whistled for Alastor to stop close to the edge but, far enough away, that Tartarus’s pull wasn't strong enough.

“Yes, my love. This is Tartarus, but you should know that Tartarus really isn’t a thing. It's a primordial being that came before the Titans and the Gods.”

Her eyebrows drew together.

“Go close, but not too close. Tartarus’s pull is extremely strong.”

Persephone edged closer to the pit and saw nothing. Nothing but darkness greeted her eyes as she peered into the abyss. But she heard.

Screams of monsters who were damned to restore themselves for ages after being killed by either a demigod or God. Angry screams.

But there was something else she could hear–she just needed to take a step closer and maybe-

“Persephone!” Namjoon yelled as he gripped her arm and pulled her back.

She yelped and yanked her arm back. Her mouth moved to berate him before taking in the fear in his eyes.

“You do not move any closer than we are. Even now, we’re testing its strength. And more than likely, Tartarus is only letting us this close because we have something for it.”

“I understand, but do you hear that?”

He raised an eyebrow.

“The bum, bum, bum. It’s almost like a heartbeat. As if the abyss is alive.”

“It is alive, my love. I told you that Tartarus is not a thing. Just as Gaia is not simply a Goddess of the Earth, but she is the earth; Tartarus is not just a pit, it is the pit.”

A blanket of confusion must’ve fallen across her face since Namjoon cursed and mumbled, “Did Demeter teach you anything about your own heritage? Gods, that woman.” He wiped his hands across his face and sighed loudly.

“Tartarus is a God. A very old, but still terribly powerful God. Mortals, in their many stories, have simply called it another subsection of the Underworld. No, it’s the skin of a god who, if awakened fully, will upset the balance of everything.”

She nodded her head, quickly understanding what Namjoon was saying.

“Tartarus is home to the Gods’ worst enemies, including Zeus, Poseidon, and I’s father. “

“Kronos? He’s down there?” “Yes, but he’s a million different pieces and won’t be together any time soon.”

“Who else is down there?”

“More primordial gods and goddesses and monsters,” he tilted his head back and forth in thought. . “Monsters.”

A dangerous smile played across her face. “Like what?” He lifted an eyebrow in question as he answered. “Goblins, hydras, cyclops, you name it. They live down there, manifesting until they can go out into the mortal world. “

“So,” she turned towards the chariot. “Things that would keep our lovely servant busy, correct? I knew we were going to throw her in there. But, the fact there are savage creatures down there, makes it all the more better.”

They made their way over to the chariot where Alastor grazed on invisible grass. Hyojin was still in the corner. Persephone moved to grab her and she shimmied away.

“Now you’re afraid?”

Persephone rolled her eyes and motioned for Namjoon to take over. The woman was disgusting anyway. Her hair was matted in some places and her tears had mixed with mucus creating a nasty shiny effect on her face. Namjoon snatched her from her crotched position with ease–any respect he had for the woman was long gone–and dragged her to the spot they had been in earlier.

“Please, don’t kill me,” she whimpered, trying to get Namjoon to look her in the eye. Surely, he wouldn’t actually go through with it.

“We’re not,” Persephone said casually. “Whatever monster is down there will. But that’s if you survive the fall.” “I wasn’t speaking to you, idiot girl.”

“And that’s exactly why you’re going to die. Do you ever learn?” Namjoon questioned from beside Persephone.

“Loving you wasn’t a mistake, my King. She was. I should have given the perfume to you personally, then none of this stupidity would be happening. We would be so happy. Me and you, my King.” Namjoon sucked in his cheeks and looked up to the heavens. “I’m going back to the chariot. You have fun.”

“I will.”

“Wait, my king! Don’t leave me with her! I would rather you kill me than this kun.”

Persephone raised her hand and Hyojin flinched slightly.

The Queen let out a small giggle, “I wasn’t going to hit you. Only a kun would do that. And I already told you that I’m not going to kill you.” Persephone stepped behind the servant and placed her hands on the small of Hyojin’s back–who stiffened at her touch.

“One thing my mother taught me is that enemies can become friends. But you–you pushed my patience. I was willing to make you my own personal servant. I wanted to be your friend.”

“I do not want to hear your lies.”

“You will survive the fall,” she said, ignoring Hyojin. “You’ll have a couple of bruises, but nothing too bad.”

“And?”

“Indignant about your death?”

“No, you’re just talking too much.”

“You’ll do your best to survive the rest of your short journey through the pit. Eventually, you’ll meet your end. You’ll be ripped to pieces while you’re still conscious. However, because you’re nothing but a spirit, you’ll materialize again. And the cycle of your death will begin until I feel like pitying you. ”

“I will find a way back and kill-”

“Goodbye, Hyojin.”

Persephone gave her a dramatic push forward so that she skipped forward. Hyojin regained her footing before turning around and laughing in Persephone’s face.

“Is that all you’re worth? A measly push? I could do-” Hyojin’s giggling turned into screaming. She was being pulled towards the pit quickly. She tried her best to keep her feet planted to the ground.

The force that Namjoon had warned Persephone about–Tartarus’s pull–was stronger merely inches from where they had previously been standing. Hyojin didn’t stand a chance against it.

Tatarus wanted to grab hold of anything within its reaches–human,soul, god, or goddess. The monster lurking deep within its depths weren’t enough.

Hyojin was at the edge holding on for dear life when she tried once more to plead for her life.

“Please, Namjoon, please.”

“I, Queen Persephone, Goddess of the Spring and Rebirth, banish you from the Underworld. May your journey through Hell begin.”

And then she laughed as the servant’s screams grew distant until they were no more.

Current fave song is a toss up between yayaya and I do. I really love the lyrics and dramatic sound of yayaya, it’s this really good mix of like, encouraging but angry? And I think I do has one of the most effective drops in a soft techno song. It doesn’t feel out of place or jarring, and it plays really well with the distortion they put on Wyatts rap.

Wait, What?

The room was stuffy and the tension in the air made Lilli nervous. She was much quieter than usual. Mila sat next to her, tracing her fingertip over the glass top table as she hummed softly to herself.

"I thought we were discussing our comeback, no? Then why is the CEO so serious?" Aiya speaks up, though she gave her members a worried look.

Jihye sat quietly, staring at the wall as her mind raced. Were they going to disband? Had they disappointed the company somehow? After all, they haven't had a comeback or barely any activities in almost a year. That could not be a good sign and it had her on edge.

Mila's eyebrows furrowed as she looks around at her members. "They wouldn't disband us, would they?" She says worriedly, echoing Jihyes thoughts.

“That would be stupid!” Effy huffed, her arms crossed as she pouts. She had already been in a bad mood and this meeting certainly wasn’t helping.

Moments later, one of the CEOs along with the girls manager walked in, a look of exasperation on both their faces. “What’s up? Seriously! You guys need to tell us!” Effy says loudly, clearly annoyed.

“Miss Rowan, you need to dial your tone down a few notches.” The CEO says calmly. He wasn’t a fan of her attitude lately and truthfully, her members had felt the same way.

“Well get to the point of this stupid meeting so we can get out of here!” Effy snaps, to which the tension in the room grew even more thick.

“Effy, hush already...” The manager hisses as she takes her seat next to the CEO. As they shuffle through some papers, the CEO clears his throat.

“I’m sorry to keep you girls waiting. We had a bit of a snag in paper work. Anyways...” He sighs, nodding as he reads over the paper in his hand. “I’ll cut to the point: your comeback that was scheduled for the middle of May will be postponed. After our recent acquisitions, we have acquired an abundance of trainees and former idols from Starpunch Entertainment. I met with your team and other staff and we have all come to the decision to add another member to ROZIE.”

The girls gasped, Effy looking furious as she stared at her nails while Lilli’s face lit up with excitement.

“Her name is Shin Hyojin, formerly of the coed group 2FOLD. She will be a main dancer, vocalist and also possesses rap skills so we may allow her to take a rap position eventually.”

Upon hearing the last part, Effy felt her annoyance bubble to the top almost like bowling water in a pot. They were trying to replace her, weren’t they? While she continued to be angry, Mila - the groups current main dancer - looked worried but happy. She had met the girl a few times and found her fascinating. Hyojin had a certain cool, composed aura about her when she danced and was a charismatic performer and it was something Mila had wanted to improve on.

“She will be moving into the dorms this weekend. I want you all to welcome her and be friendly, okay?” His eyes locked with Effy’s on the last part and she grunts.

Timeless

Hyojin is always the reserved one, despite his outgoing nature.

When he was born, his parents were over the moon about him. He’s their only child, their only son, and already a surprise. His mother had no idea she could conceive and his father thought he was infertile due to his cat DNA. What a surprise when four months later, the doctor tells them both they’re expecting. He’s born healthy, though with cat-like characteristics that come through later on in his life. Calico cat ears that he has to make an effort to hide among his hair with a hat.

Months ago, he was engaged. Months ago, he was planning his life with a person he thought would be his entire world. Months ago he came home to a gutted apartment just like Ezra. Was it his fault for taking care of Kit? For taking care of his best friend who he was sure was going to end up either killing himself or dying simply from lack of care? When he threw out the hidden bottles of alcohol and had Ezra help him search his house for drugs, concerned that Kitae might do something to himself that couldn’t be reversed. What was he supposed to do other than care for his best friend? Kit had been his person for years at this point, a part of his life so inseparable that one without the other was unheard of. The house was always alight with the two boys bickering, they were twin souls, he was sure. So how was he supposed to continue without Lee Kitae?

Korain was the best thing to happen to Kitae. The little boy who instantly became his nephew brought a whole new light to Kitae’s life. Hyojin saw how his health improved simply because he wanted to be alive. He wanted to be there for Korain. He wanted to raise him like his father had, with nothing but love and respect. He watched him improve and change for the better.

He watched Seungkwan meet Aubrey, watched the two of them fall in love and eventually make the decision to get married. He watched Ezra go from an angry drug addict who didn’t want to live anymore to a young man who had such a strong head on his shoulders and who was completely sober. He was a leader, ready to fight for whatever he believed in. Ready to take on any person to protect his family.

Where did this all leave him?

Hyojin had always been the most mature of the quad. He was working in his mother’s salon simply assisting her from the time he was a young kid, going after school to sweep and pass tools to his family members who were also in the salon. Hair had always been a fascination to him, and he’d gotten so good from shadowing his mother and working in the salon that he did his own work sometimes; even doing private styling for the members of Sky House.

But where did this all leave him?

The other three were fine, but no one really stopped to ask Hyojin how he was doing. How he was holding up. He’d lost a person too, he’d lost someone he thought was going to be in his life forever. No one really bothered to ask whether he was fine.

He wasn’t.

The only people who’d really known he was in a relationship was Kitae and his dad, not for any other reason other than he wasn’t sure how to tell his mom. At least he knew that the relationship was over now. His mom didn’t have anyone to worry about. The day he had gone to tell his mom about his relationship, that he was engaged, was the day that his fiancee left him and Hyojin was good at putting up a front.

Sieun must know something is wrong. Kitae hadn’t mentioned it, but with how often he put his attention away from himself, it had to be obvious. He didn’t want to talk about it. He didn’t want to make anyone’s eyes stay on him. He wanted to be left alone.

He blinks, realizing that he’s crying. Maybe that’s what he needed. And maybe a chat with his mom.

Sometimes I think about CICADA and how their discography was so good and so was their concept and I get angry they were such bad people because minus the people, it would be an amazing group for real and fictional.

YOU SEEM NICE, LET’S BE FRIENDS! [∞]: Chang Chang is a social butterfly, she loves meeting new people and is a really fun person to be around! Her and your oc will have a lot of fun hangouts and overall have a ball of sunshine as their friend! Open for any gender.

I’M NOT THE PERSON YOU MET [SELECTIVE, 0/2]: The time will come that Chang Chang will become tired of feeling inferior inside of Artemis and will fight with all of her members, she begins hanging out with completely different people and drastically changes her personality. Your oc is a former friend (or a former lover) that Chang Chang met during that time and that she decided to cut contact after solving her situation with the girls and her older friends. There can be pining, toxicity, or even mutual healing! Open for any gender.

"How did you like it all?" you excitedly asked once everyone was gone.

You and Hyojin tossed yourselves on the couch at the same time, not paying attention to the couple of gifts on top of it. You had to pull a brand new sneaker from under your butt before turning your face back to your boyfriend.

"That was really fun, babe! I wouldn't think I could get fooled on a surprise party ever again" he confessed. You could see the joy in every part of his face. "You're such a troll, I got so angry at you for forgetting my birthday."

You came closer and kissed his cheek with a naughty look. "Yes, I'm a baddie. Will you let me get away with it?"

He furrowed his eyebrows at you taking his time to analyze your mischievous face. "Aren't you asking for punishment on my birthday, are you?"

"I literally have a ribbon on my booty" you snapped back covering your mouth.

"Oh my! Let me see that." He reached your face to kiss your lips before you stand up.

In fact, there was a cute ribbon tie right on top of your butt cheeks. You wiggled it a bit to tease him more while staring over your shoulder. "I thought red would suit you" you added.

"It suits you better, baby girl. Come here."

In no time you were sitting on his lap, the ribbon pressed against his low stomach and his member poking your folds.

"Is this nice ass my birthday present?" he whispered into your ear causing a sudden weakness in your whole body.

"I am the present, Hyo. Take me"

And so he did, starting from the soft skin of your neck.

ONF BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL AU

Basically, the members s/o is kidnapped like J-Us was in the MV for Beautiful Beautiful and this is how I think they would react. The GIF has nothing to do with the reaction really but it was cute.

~ You’ll find their reactions under the cut ~

HYOJIN

As soon as Hyojin found out that his s/o had been kidnapped he was freaking out. He began blaming himself for letting the love of his life be taken, he was thinking that it should have been him not his s/o. But then the others found out how badly affected Hyojin was and they managed to get him out of his head so that they all could figure out a plan to get Hyojin’s s/o back. As soon as he saw his s/o in the ‘cage’ all Hyojin could think was: “I need to get them out of there. I don’t care what happens to me”. Once Hyojin got his s/o out of the cage and they were back home he hugged them and didn’t let go for a few hours. The following weeks, Hyojin, barely wanted to let his s/o out of his sight because he was afraid that something would happen to them again.

E-TION

E-Tion was there when his s/o was taken by the robots and now he was angry, furious even. E-Tion didn’t tell the others, he wanted to fix this himself. It took him a few days but he observed the behavior of the boots and figured out when a good time would be for him to break in. After four days he was sure of the best route and time to break in and save his s/o. He almost failed but eventually he got his s/o out of there and then he just like Hyojin didn’t leave their side for a few days.

J-US

After J-Us himself had been kidnapped he feared that his s/o would be targeted as well and so he was being very careful when going outside and such. But one day, his s/o went out to do something and in that moment they were taken. When J-Us found out he reacted similarly to Hyojin, panicking and blaming himself. He’s second in command in the group, he should have taken better care of his s/o so they wouldn’t end up in harm. He didn’t know if he should handle it himself or ask for help from the others. He ended up trying to come up with a plan first but when he didn’t succeed he asked Hyojin and MK for help. Once his s/o was free and safe, J-Us did not react like the other two. No, J-Us was calm but if he wasn’t with his s/o he wanted the two of them to text each other every 5 minutes to make sure the other was okay.

WYATT

Wyatt’s first action was to tell the others and say, or rather scream: “HELP HELP HELP. They have been taken!”. Wyatt didn’t blame himself or his s/o but rather he was angry. Angry with the robots and the government for not doing anything about it. He was just as worried as he was angry but the anger was the driving feeling and the prominent one. it wasn’t until his s/o was safe and home again that the worry came through. He was very attentive and wanted to do everything for his s/o. They needed a glass of water, boom, he got it. They needed to walk to the bathroom, he carried them there. He just wanted to be there for his s/o and show how worried he had been as well as show how much he loved them.

MK didn’t know that his s/o had been taken until two days after it had happened. He simply thought that they needed some alone time and didn’t want to see him. But when he found out from Hyojin that J-Us and MK’s s/o was missing he was panicking. He was out of himself with worry, he could barely sit still because he was so nervous and worried. But the rest of the group came up with a plan and while MK tried his best to help with his part he was struggling because all he could think about was his s/o being harmed as well as one of his best friends. Once Hyojin had collected J-Us and (y/n), MK was out of his hacking place and hurried to buy as much food as he could carry. And when Hyojin arrived with the two who were just saved, MK immediately took his s/o’s hand and pulled them with him to his room. Once inside he told them to lay down and then he gave them all the food he bought and put on a movie. He was just glad that his s/o was fine, he was thankful for his other friends who helped him save his s/o.

U acted similarly to Wyatt. Panicking, asking for help and worrying like crazy. You could say that U was a mix between Wyatt and MK. U was the communicator within their little rescue group but this time he was so worried that he kept opening the communication when it shouldn’t be open and closing when someone was talking. Everyone else understood how worried he must be so they didn’t say anything about his mistakes. Without their communication working like it should it took a bit longer for them to figure out when they could go to the next step but they made it work and saved U’s s/o. Though U acted a bit differently compared to the others once he saw his s/o again. Because he was so worried he told them off, saying how dangerous that was and how they should have been smarter. But as soon as he had blown off that steam he was back to being cute and worried.
