Hi Raven! Thank you very much for the prompt! I hope I did it justice! These two cuties are becoming one of my favorite ships to write for!

(A/N: This story is part of an AU I'm calling the Vax Lives verse, where Scanlan manages to use his wish spell to prevent the RQ from taking Vax at the end of C1. He and Keyleth are now happily married and are living in Zephrah.

Also, There is a trigger warning on this one for a mention of a miscarriage. No graphic detail is given, but it is mentioned. Feel free to skip this one if you need to.) 

“Breathe,” Vax gently took Keyleth’s hand. “Breathe with me.” She squeezed it heavily, which hurt a little, but he didn’t care. “Everything’s okay.” He gently casts Lay on Hands to try and get rid of the sick feeling in her gut.

It must have worked because Keyleth finally took a breath, and then she leaned forward and rested her forehead against his shoulder. “Ugh. This sucks.”

He let go of her hand to rub her back, ignoring the smell of sickness in the air. He hated this too. He hated when she was sick. But this… this was something that she couldn’t avoid. She just had to endure it, and he vowed to be right there with her doing whatever he could to help her feel better. 

“I know, love. Just a few more months, and hopefully, things will settle.” He kissed her hair and continued to rub her back.

“We are late. I hope Dad isn’t going to be too upset.” Keyleth said, her words still muffled into his shoulder.

Vax chuckled. “Considering the whole point of us having dinner is to tell him you are pregnant, I hope not.”

Keyleth signed and pulled away. “Is it too soon? I don’t want to get his hopes up.”

Vax’s smile faded and he gently pulled her with him into the window seat of their bedroom and sat her in his lap to hold her close. He put his hand on her belly. He could barely feel the bump where their child was slowly growing. Everything seemed fine so far, but so had the other pregnancy.  His memories went to the child they had lost before, and he said a prayer for them. He knew that miscarriages happen sometimes, but that knowledge didn’t take away the pain.

“That’s up to you, Kiki. I support you, and if you don't want to tell him yet then we won't.”

Keyleth sighed. “It seems stupid, but I’m worried that he’s going to be disappointed.”

“Why?” Vax asked softly, gently running his fingers through her short red hair.”Disappointed that we lost a child, or disappointed that we tried again so soon?” He was a bit confused.

“I don’t know,” Keyleth replied softly. She hesitated for a moment, gathering her thoughts, and then continued. “Maybe it’s just me, and I’m projecting.” She sighed. “I’m just excited, worried, hopeful, and scared all at the same time and I don’t know how to feel.

Vax nodded his head, understanding all of that as well. He gently kissed the back of her neck and held her just a little bit tighter.

“Well, the only way to find out is to tell him and see what he says. And for the record, I feel the same way, love. I’m worried about you and the baby, but yet I’m so excited that I could shout. I don’t want this one to end in disappointment and sadness, but some things are out of our control or understanding. No matter what I will be right here by your side, loving you through it all for as long as I can.”

Keyleth turned slightly to kiss him on the lips; then, she hugged him. “I love you. How do always know what to say to make me feel better?”

He grinned and gently teased her bottom lip between his before letting go. “Because I know you and I love you. I’ve devoted the rest of my days to making you happy. It’s my one goal in life.”

Keyleth found herself blushing even after the years they had shared. “Such a poet, my love. Careful, you will make Scanlan jealous.”

They shared a laugh, and then, after a few moments of resting, Keyleth stood up. She turned and held out her hand to Vax. “Well, I’m ready. Thank you.”

Vax allowed her to help him up, and then he squeezed her hand before letting go. “No thanks needed, Kiki.” He nudged her hip gently with hers. “It’s my honor, truly.”

She nudged him back. She bent down to reach for her bag, but Vax grabbed it first.

“Hey.”

“This is my honor too. It’s part of my duties as a husband. I’m the official bag carrier.”

Keyleth snorted. “Dork.” Then she put her arm in his, and together they made their way towards her father’s cottage.

I have to figure out a way when someone says "okay we'll give you a call when [we hear back from your insurance / we get your results / we have an opening / etc.]!" to quickly and firmly be like "okay well I will not pick up. because I don't answer the phone."

I think I answered a question like this before !! But hmmm let’s see 🤔 these are some I can think of for the morning

Gojo wakes up earlier (always) bc he loves just taking a couple minutes to look at the reader before he gets up for the gym.

When he doesn’t go, he’ll sleep in with them but still wake up earlier to just gaze — touch their lashes and chuckle when they crinkle their nose while sleeping. Whispers little heartfelt words while they sleep

He likes to play with their fingers while they’re in his arms, place soft kisses while they sleep.

He tears up occasionally at the thought of how far you both have come in terms of the relationship compared to when you both were younger

He dreams maybe a family would be nice and have a nice backyard for the kids and dog. He makes a checklist of the things he’ll have to slowly prepare and tell ijichi about them

He’s bricked? Then morning smex is always nice for both ~ then it’ll progress to taking a nice warm shower and he’ll massage their shoulders and he’ll let them wash his hair bc he loves getting his scalped massaged but also he gets the chance to look at them while they pay attention to only him

If it’s a regular weekend morning then he’ll invite them for coffee and a quick walk so he can take photos of them.

Breakfast is made mostly by him but he’ll let them join in if they’re willing — man is literally willing to do anything, sheesh

It’s simple mornings that make him want to wife them up asap… but he’s waiting for the perfect time

If he has a date planned he’ll tell them the time and place and asks if he can take them out

Decide how they answer a phone. Do they state their name? Do they say some version of hello? Do they wait for the other person to talk before saying anything? Does it change from time to time or do they have a set greeting that they always use?

This takes place in my Vax Lives AU but before they find out that Keyleth is pregnant. 

Keyleth returned home late one night from visiting Pyrah. Usually, Vax would have gone with her, but today he was scheduled to teach a few Blades the art of stealth. He had been excited about his lesson, and Keyleth had found his excitement adorable.

She loved how he seemed to fit into this life so easily. Sometimes, she worried that he would become bored with quiet village life, but he kept reassuring her that he loved their shared life. Finally, Keyleth opened the door, expecting to see him working on his latest art project(He had developed a liking for woodwork and had turned one of their downstairs rooms into a studio), but instead, she found him sound asleep on the couch.

She just paused to study him for a second, enjoying the feeling of coming home to the person she loved and seeing him safe and sound at their home. Then, quietly she crept forward and gently knelt in front of the couch. Keyleth pushed back a lock of hair that had fallen from his braid across his forehead.

The Tempest frowned, feeling the immense heat pouring off of his skin.

Gently she touched his forehead and then quietly kissed the surface of his skin.

“Vax, honey, wake up.” her voice was calm and quiet. She didn't want to startle him awake.

After a few seconds of calling his name, his eyes opened. They were glossy from the fever, and for a second, he looked right through her before finding his bearing.

“Kiki.” Vax croaked, his voice hoarse. “How… How long have you been there?”

“I just got home. How are you feeling?” She asked, already knowing the answer from his look, but she asked it anyway.

“Terrible.” He said, slowly sitting up. The movement proved too much for his stomach, and he hastily pushed her out of the way to throw up into a bucket that he must have drug over earlier.

“Oh,” Keyleth said, sitting beside him to hold his hair back. “Easy.” Vax threw up for a few seconds more and then groaned wearily.

“Fuck.”

Despite the circumstances, Keyleth chuckled. Even sick, he was just so damned cute.

She put a cool hand on his neck, and he leaned into the touch as he sat back to look at her.

“I’m dying.”

“No, you aren’t,” Keyleth assured him. “But I bet you are miserable. I have some tonic I can give you, and I can make some soup if you want it.”

Vax shook his head. “No soup.” He rubbed at his belly. “But I’ll take the tonic. Thank you, love.”

She kissed his cheek, stood, and a few minutes later, she returned with a mug filled with liquid.

He took it from her and drank it, finding the bitter taste of the herbs covered by the sweetness of the honey she had put into it. Something that she did all of the time, knowing that he hated the taste of the herbal medicine.  He smiled up at her, grateful, and Keyleth felt her heart beat faster.

“Thanks, Kiki.” He said, leaning into her. “Love you.”

“I love you too.” She wrapped an arm around her and helped him up. “Now, let’s get you settled into bed; time to rest now.”

Vax said nothing as she helped him up the stairs toward their room. Keyleth quietly tucked him, kissed his forehead, and smoothed back his hair.

“Sleep now, love.” She whispered.

He gave her a sleepy smile, feeling slightly better now that the medicine was taking effect. “Join me?” He asked, seeming to want to be close and needing comfort.

Keyleth gave him a loving smile before stripping down to her underthings and joining him in the bed. She wrapped the covers around them both and pulled him closer into her arms. Then using a bit of her magic, she let her fingers turn into ice and gently pressed them into his neck for a moment. He let out a sigh of relief and snuggled closer.

“That’s amazing, love. Thank you.”

She kissed his skin and changed back, feeling his breath change with sleep. It wasn’t often that she got to hold him, so she took advantage of it. She closed her eyes and listened to the wind blowing out outside and the soft rhythm of his breath against her chest, and she felt content. For the rest of the night, she would watch over him and make sure he was well, and in the morning, she would take the day off and spend a quiet day reading with him on the couch, making sure that he would take it easy.

Keyleth snuggled her head deeper into the pillow and hugged him a little bit tighter before she, too, fell into slumber.
