I don't understand how Vivziepop still has a fanbase anymore that unironically still supports her after all the scenarios of controversy where she brushes it off as petty internet drama from "petty envious antis" atleast before she runs off into her crowd of chronically online and discourse obsessed problematic adults on any social media platform(Mostly Twitter to be specific but still)who are just a group of yes-men for her to use to attack not even only children on the interwebs who just happen to be uncomfortable with the fandom she's cultivated over her career of a wannabe artist and animator, but other adults too who by the way are somewhat consisting of survivors of abuse, rape, are LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, neurodivergent/disabled and possibly more. It honestly makes me sad as it does angry because the concept of the show isn't that crazily impossible in my opinion atleast and it could of had so much potential to do way better if not only the obvious subject matters were treated with much more care in an attempt to rework the scripts but also if Viv didn't do half of the stuff she did just a bad person in general. Like...is that really the best you can do for your fanbase???You cannot be not-joking atleast a little bit when you're telling me that apparently not only are children not being stopped from engaging with an 18+ rated show(even though the amount of vulgar language is done so poorly that it could pass of as your average failed Newgrounds animation), but that they're literally being encouraged to interact with the fandom???Are you out of your mind???Don't even get me started on the other stuff that you all probably already know about such as the blatant mockery of S.A., abusive relationship dynamics, hypersexuality in victims of said scenarios that happen irl, having other such "jokes" including some sort of rapey scene at all and having someone who actively and openly supports "non-con" fiction???!!!! What is wrong with you people??And apparently I have to share the home of the beautiful planet Earth with these idiots choosing to have the cognitive dissonance and brain function of an almost-empty and dusty old peanut...Along with the fact that the woman herself treats her animators at Spindlehorse Productions(her studio I suppose)like utter dog-dung, she has proven to drag anyone who defies her problematic and dare I say dangerous behavior through the mud and gets away with it all because of her stans/fans making her the "face of independent animation/indie animators". I honestly feel so awful for those who may have genuinely looked up to her at one point, atleast not knowing how much of a horrible person she was behind the scenes of the computer screen but its whatever anyways I guess. If any aspiring makers of cartoons or comics(LGBTQIA+/BIPOC/Disabled preferred) would like to promote the stuff they male down below in my comments section than feel free☆. It's the least anyone can do under the storm that's being made and has happened for such a long time ughh. The project should have been attempted a little more to be prevented from the confines of those echo-chambery and gross parts of fandom-centric social media communities and It's so discouraging how long this has been going on too, but hey. She's the lady that unironically made a literal pedo character that she attempted to present as a villain while just having the original character end up as a sort of "cool af bad-girl aesthetic uwu" character. Oh my fucking God please stop at once I swear to the highest Heavens and the deepest, most darkest depths of Hell(Ironic).

Alright, firstly I have always come across damijon shippers that ship them as kids because their purest connection peaked when they were young so you kind of permanently keep Jon and Damian as kid in your head because of what DC did to them.

We ship them in a ‘wholesome crush on your best friend, twisting inside you over time that you snub out till you reach your adulthood and have the maturity to deal with it’ type of way. The beauty of Damijon is not the fact that it’s Bat x Super. I honestly don’t care for this dynamic ergo not shipping superbat and not liking Timkon at all. The beauty of Damijon is that they could become something with a friendship to back it up, then continue to push each other’s characters forward while being in a relationship if the writer cared enough. It’s a plus that they care for each other so much and have the personalities to really balance each other out.

I enjoy ships like Daminika, Dami x Colin and other Jon ships as well. I just only post damijon and talk about them. It’s only Jonj*y I have issues with. It’s not about ‘getting in the way of my ship’ nothing can ever get in the way of me enjoying damijon and fandom is just gonna have to deal with that. We all come here for enjoyment because we should supposedly enjoy DC for DC and find community in that, enjoy our ideas and takes on it and one person is not going to perceive or enjoy something the same way but we are so damn MEAN to each other. Damijon gets a lot of heat, mostly because twitter damijon stans are annoying and horrible and damijon antis are just as bad.

So the problem I have with Jonj*y is just deep rooted.

Firstly, I hate the way it came about. The last thing Jon’s character needed was to be in a relationship period but then for it to be a queer relationship used as a tool to garner sales? There’s nothing in the world I dislike more than queer baiting. The last thing we needed from DC was to pull something like this and as a queer person it just really gets under my skin - as it should anyone, to be honest.

Even regardless of that Jonj*y is the relationship equivalent of stale bread. They have no chemistry, Jay has no character besides catoring to Jon’s sexuality, and even if they were to explore him there’s no point because objectively they’ve tarnished Jon Kent way too much to be wasting comic ink on Jay.

I don’t like aged up Jon Kent as a whole, it’s not like I want him to stay a kid forever - obviously not. The fun of a comic book character is their growth! Jon over time should have never been able to get to the age he is now when other comic book characters struggle to get near that age in decades. I MEAN HE’S NEARLY OLDER THAN KON RIGHT NOW. Bendis did what he did to Jon because he ain’t even like him.

There are real serious issues with Jon Kent’s age up than him getting with Damian. I know how to seperate my ship/fanon from canon. I can go on and on about the problems with it without mentioning Damian once.

I had to put “JonJ*y apologist DNI” in my bio because the stans kept coming to my page and spewing BS 24/7 so I thought it was my absolute right to make sure they knew this page was not for them.

If you enjoy the ship at all then you will not like me because I have almost every single active Jonj*y poster blocked because I have fought with them at least once because they wanted to be stupid and spew nonsense on Jon Kent when you can tell they haven’t read a damn comic besides SSOKE and it really shows.

If you enjoy it, just block me. It’s only a matter of time before we fight anyway, so don’t waste your breath because the whole time you could be trying to open your mouth, you could open a comic book instead, how about that?

Actually makes me so upset looking up YouTube and Twitter in the Doctor Who and David Tennant tags and seeing so many transphobes and bigoted losers complain about the latest specials being "woke" over that small scene of Fourteen asking the Meep its pronouns and the metacrisis resolution between Donna and Rose.

It's actually so disheartening, seeing so many people missing the fucking point of Doctor Who, and these are also the same people who shat on Jodie's entire run bc BWAAAA, WAHMAN NO BE DOCTOR!!1!1! and lord knows what's gonna happen when Ncuti's run finally begins and what he'll have to endure with these bigoted losers with a huge ass victim complex. Doctor Who is a show that has been vocally anti-fascist since the beginning with episodes reflecting the UK recovering from the effects of WWII with the Daleks being a metaphor for Nazis, feminism, or hell, even episodes in the new run of Doctor Who way back when it started in 2005 talking about themes of slavery, government corruption, and even subtle LGBT+ themes with Jack Harkness being an openly flirtatious bisexual, Bill Potts being openly lesbian, and hell, even Martha being the first black companion in Doctor Who history (Bill being the second). Not to mention the Twelfth Doctor, who these "fans" claim they stopped watching the show after he regenerated but completely gloss over this fact, sucker punching a racist who was harassing Bill. Not to mention the Doctor as a whole character growing more love and empathy with every new regeneration and not being afraid to emotionally express themselves with love instead of having to hide it, something these "fans" fail to have or even see and understand. So yeah, your "pwecious wittle show" has always been this way, believe it or not!!

And I am SO tired of seeing posts of these bigots asking how much David Tennant got paid for saying that pronoun line or even seeing dumbass video thumbnails of David Tennant saying stupid shit like "RIP DOCTOR WHO" when these assholes gloss over the fact that not only would his character (or any incarnation of the Doctor in general) would HATE these types of people, but also David in general. This whole year, he has been openly showing his support for the LGBT+ community, ESPECIALLY trans and nonbinary folks, between pride pins, the "Leave Trans Kids Alone" shirt, and even voicing his support at certain conventions. AND not to mention his lips were on Michael Sheen in the last season of Good Omens this summer (and his character being a genderfluid demonic entity similar to the Doctor) AND even WAY before that (Richard II) AND playing a trans woman A WHOLE 3 decades ago WAY BEFORE his Doctor Who fame. So no, he wasn't paid to do this shit, he's been doing this for FREE, which is what it costs y'all to not be an asshole. And, not to boast, but when I met him at New York Comic Con last month, I felt so safe around him even with just those few moments when I met him. He's the most kind, humble, gentle hearted soul on this planet and basically the only celebrity I stan bc of all this, so no, I don't think he would support your ideals bc you're just sad and pathetic chronically online cry babies that never felt a touch of a real person.

So fucking tired of dudebros feeling like they're entitled to their "pwecious wittle show" over being "woke" (which BTW, that word has been so overused to death, I don't even think these people know what it even means anymore and just use it as a meaningless insult) when really, they're just coping and seething over the fact that this show ain't for them and wanna be angry for the sake of being angry. So by all means, fuck off and take your anger elsewhere bc we clearly don't need it and it's making me and every other sane fan uncomfortable with your unprovoked anger. It's a trend that I've seen grow between this fandom, the Star Wars fandom, or any other geek-centric fandom online ever since Trump was in power, and it's really sad to see this type of bigotry grow in fan spaces like this. Y'all are better than this, get some help.

it bothers the hell out of me that some people read fiction and sometimes can also assume that an author is using something from real life ALL the time. this is referring to the white/eurowhite readers when it comes to acotar. the eurowhite readers (which there are alot of ofc) white wash all of the bat boys and lucien vanserra DESPITE knowing that for one, lucien is part black from his father. the second which is my main point with the eurowhite readers in acotar is that because SJM uses the name of a race called “Illyrians” in her books to refer to a race of poc and because “the map looks just like the UK/Europe!” they all ASSUME that because illyria (where balkans are, no longer referred to as illyrians) looks like the Prythians map and because it’s the same name that it means they’re eurowhite characters. There’s been no confirmation of them being europeans but they ASSUME they are when telling other poc readers that “they aren’t Poc” DESPITE SJM referring to them as “golden brown skin” “brown skin” “Light brown skin” multiple times the ENTIRE series. Most arts they’re in they’re brown too! Aside from the ones that whitewash them. Maybe she stole the name (which is like her taking the name of a race and denying they’re that race) BUT STILL she never confirmed they’re european in her fantasy version of illyrians they just assume and use this argument whenever someone says they’re poc. racist asses unable to accept the fact that they’re canonly referred to as BROWN. not WHITE. not PALE. GOLDEN BROWN. does that sound like white to you?

Im a a poc who doesn’t mind SJM not being clear about race, it’s somewhat refreshing not to have it be so “black white asian” like it is IRL, and I don’t mind her using the same name, but she makes illyrians her OWN and made them brownskinned even if people in europes “Illyria” were “Olive skinned” and not brown. It’s obvious she tweaked it and made them darker so either way they aren’t white like these readers want them to be. And if there are White casted for these roles in her possible Acotar Tv show? It’s only going to piss all her Poc readers off so I hope her team is careful and Hulu when they do casting. Bc I know they would all get canceled for whitewashing, whole show burned to flames via twitter for it, regardless of her using an IRL country’s name.

Also don’t believe those that thinks she’s racist again as a black reader they woman’s best friend is black, she’s a obama supporter, Anti republicans and trump, Young and super modern and she’s not a dumbass. People call her racist for her blurred lines of race and for supposedly “Posted about Breonna taylor for Attention and more money from Poc readers” When …where tf is the proof that was her reasoning? Maybe she just wanted justice for her. As a poc I hate seeing poc acotar readers act like she’s racist like use your brain and not bias to make it seem like something it’s not. Idk your stances on her but this is just mines.

Ok so here's the thing... I'm trying to read more diverse books. Like my white bestie from college wanted me to read acotar and the rest of the series but i honestly just watched a youtuber do a rundown of the first 3 books. and it was fine? so I will say this about sarah j maas: like her books do seem v white to me. BUT I also can't really say anything definitive about her works because I'm experiencing them through a white youtubers lens. so if she didn't pick up on diversity in the books I didn't think of it as diverse. you're welcome to have your opinion though but in general.... don't stan white authors.

Like I'll give you an example.

a favorite author of mine that wrote american gods, good omens and coraline is on this v site so that's why I won't name him but like even he's done some problematic stuff. like ok the biggest example is the marvel comic 1602 where he had a chance to race bend steve rogers but instead had a white steve rogers that was raised by native americans.

like just please don't waste your time stanning white authors. next thing you know they turn into jkrowling.

Mcu Stan's are some of the most ignorant and annoying people especially tony, Wanda and Peggy Stan's. I never understood how you could get mad at Jewish or romani people for having a problem with the way the mcu handles its characters. Countless Jewish people have pointed ot why peggy is problematic and why Wanda is to but people get so up in arms about it like a billion dollar company dosen't have the resources to research the characters they're writing.

Peggy as a character fustraits me so much because I know her problematic orgions in the mcu and so do the writers but they keep pushing her and it's starting to effect things outside the mcu.

They've already retconned the comics-Peggy to match MCU-Peggy/HA, to cover up that they adapted Cynthia-the-Nazi by another name.

They've given this new Buff Liz Truss her own run in the comics, where she performs sudden leftwingism by- omg, guys -discovering Colonialism is bad?? Oh wow, so impressive, give her a biscuit!

And they've had her attacking, somehow beating, and victim-blaming comics-Bucky, saying it's 'insane' of him to question her motives.

(Just like She-Hulk lusting over Steve's ass, you can tell it's a nasty dig by male Disney execs at female fans; in this case at those who point out how rotten Peggy is.

Ironically, it's super authoritarian, radfem and totally in-character of Peggy to violently attack anyone who dares to question her majesty, since that's the very first thing she ever did on screen!)

Right before pissing away 80+ years of comics history, showing absolute devotion between Steve and Bucky, to turn comics Bucky into a full blown villain who attacks Steve (y'know, like she did?)

Cutting off comics Bucky's nose to spite MCU Bucky's face, cuz all they really want to do is further de-gay MCU Steve in order to bring his stalker Agent Brexit into the main MCU movies again, (because that's her only value! As an accessory to a man!), while they’re supposed to be raising up a black Cap they transparently Did Not Want. 🤮

And just as it was absolutely unforgivable to take Jewish-penned Antifa Steve and pair him off with a Nazi, (I can't help feeling the Indiana Jones movies might have been an influence, there?)

It was also unforgivable to take Romani Jewish Wanda and turn her into a Nazi.

Her joint Jewishness and Romani heritage were important, too, because they showed the intersectionality of Fascism’s victims, since comics-Magneto (Jewish) met her Romani mother while imprisoned in Auschwitz.

(You could also count MCU Bucky under this whitewashing heading, too, since MCU Bucky is partly based on Jewish comics character Arnie Roth. Another Jew made into a villain to serve Disney's Fascist 'don't say gay' values!

There’s even speculation that they’re going to give WhatIf Bucky Peggy’s shitty corrupt backstory in the next season, and shift the blame off her by having Bucky co-found SHIELDra instead of her. I wouldn’t put it past these whitewashing bastards...)

I can't fault the mere existence of Wanda's villain arc, since that is in the comics...

Except for two things:

1) it was transparently done too soon, just because a male creative wanted to be the one to have Cool Scarlet Witch Stuff in his movie.

(If there had been, say, a second season of WV, detailing her slow post-bereavement descent down a dark-mother path? That would've been more interesting and made MoM more organic, IMO.)

2) The real problem, as someone on twitter I think pointed out, is that if you know about Wanda’s Jewish background in the comics...

Well, the whole film is about an evil red-headed Jewish witch trying to kidnap and hurt a child for magic ritual purposes. 😬

Which, if you know about the history of antisemitism, and that Wanda was originally Jewish, makes MoM ‘Blood Libel: the Movie.’

And it’s not like Disney would give a shit about the antisemitic vibes, if they knew.

They’re about to undo all the good of the Captain Marvel movie by doing Secret Invasion, where evil lizard people are secretly infiltrating the earth (IYKYK).

I saw one Jewish person on twitter pointing out: “Someone was arguing that the skrulls don't deserve their own story because they're evil infiltrators and... this is not comforting to me as a Jewish person, you know? antisemitic conspiracy theorists literally describe Jews as evil lizard people who infiltrate and disguise themselves...”

Captain Marvel repositioned the Skrulls as innocent maligned refugees, but I guess Disney doesn’t give a fuck about standing by that.

In terms of Wanda’s show, while WV was a great, well-made show, which I enjoyed, while she was an interesting character in it, and Olsen gave a great performance, what I didn't like were the conservative values.

It reminded me of the anti- second wave feminism films of the 1980s, where any woman who has a career (read: power, like Wanda has) is shown basically being driven insane by it and secretly just wanting to be a tradwife all along, even to the point of threatening her man if he interferes with it.

In Wanda, we have a woman who never mentioned wanting the white-picket-fence life before, suddenly being desperate to give up an icky career to be a stay-at-home-mom in the suburbs, just because of the kind of 'golden age' sitcoms Disney would love to be associated with.

And it's presented as a terrible tragedy that she doesn't get to keep this sheltered 'dream' 1950s nuclear-family life and the slaves sorry, ‘prisoners with jobs’ necessary to maintain it.

The spirit of Kevin Feige’s pathetic self-insert, aka Endgame Skrull Steve, is alive and well.

(As usual, a black woman receives the brunt of the violence, and is then made to comfort Wanda about the 'sacrifice' she has made by giving her hex-slaves sorry, ‘prisoners with jobs', their freedom at the cost of her own comfort. 😯 Holy? SHIT??)

Wanda becoming a villain coincides exactly with her turning from white tradwifism and embracing her (career-related) power.

As usual with Disney tho, they dun fucked up and accidentally made something you can also read as kinda queer?

Like: a couple who can't have biological children of their own together (like queer couples)? Who don't get to have that white-picket-fence life? Getting run out of town for trying to live that fantasy anyway?

And then Wanda breaks bad because she's annoyed about that??

and d) what billionaires call ‘philanthropy’ is actually just using charities for tax write-offs, donating to their old alma maters, etc.

Daddy was a basic bitch thief, who dealt in stolen vibranium, knew about TWS, co-founded SHIELDra, had a villain business partner, and was BFFs with a Nazi torturer of POWs, and the woman who- gawd -she just can’t stop working with Nazis, bless 'er!

Tony was blowing up people in the Middle East for decades, making a bundle and very obviously enjoying himself (sipping on champagne while the missiles fly) and only stopped doing that, when- gasp -it affected him personally?

(The villains of IM movies are the ones just: doing what Tony did.)

Despite claiming otherwise, he hung around with black market arms traffickers often enough for Ulysses Klaue to recognise one of his catchphrases and claim “Stark used to say that to me.”

He helped design Project Insight and saw nothing wrong with it (we know he didn’t, because he kept arguing in favour of it / recreating it.)

Even after this, he lied and sneaked around behind the Avengers’ backs to hubristically tamper with alien tech in order to create Ultron, leading directly to the endangerment of the world and further deaths in Sokovia (in another universe, this almost destroyed the entire multiverse).

He co-signed Accords which violated human rights, not affecting him since he’s rich, just to shift future blame and responsibility off himself and make him look dateable to Pepper. He admitted he knew Bucky was a brainwashed “Manchurian Candidate” but tried to murder him (to spite Steve) anyway.

He refused to call Steve back when Thanos was coming, just out of piqued pride (if you wanted to calculate the potential consequences of that, maybe: half of all life in the multiverse?) And when asked to help undo the Snap his ego helped create, he says he “won’t, even” because, hey, it doesn’t affect him personally so who gives a shit, right??

But like a true billionaire none of this ever has any consequences for him!

He only sees the inside of a jail when he’s visiting!

So what with his messianic nuclear-family ending you can see why Disney haven’t felt the need to sabotage his comics incarnation. MCU Tony is right on-message!

Woke leftism in the ASOIAF/HOTD fandom has now reached the “defend feudalist medieval Catholics” level. The things Green stans won't say to make a completely irrelevant house with no importance or relevance in the current timeline appear more interesting. Saying that “the Catholic Church is good and progressist” just because they want to fuck Olivia/Fabien/Ewan/Tom/etc. This is how I know that the contrarian, comical “anti imperialism” of anti-Targs is meaningless because you can’t with any sincerity accuse them of being genocidal imperialists while defending a faith explicitly created by the author to parallel medieval European Catholicism. So much of the ideological justification for imperialism is based in religious texts. European Christianity has been used to defend colonization and enslavement. Targs haters have the audacity to make the same half-baked statements about being against war and nuclear fallout but forget the basic fucking historical point that medieval European Catholicism was a tool of violence. Start by reading, oh I don’t know, fucking Christopher Columbus’ letters to King Ferdinand explaining why they should colonize the New World. Read about the fucking Spanish Inquisition, the expulsion of Jews from Spain, etc.

These illiterate twats just bleat what their fellow sheep say on social media. There’s no engagement with history, no real learning or critical thinking involved. People have been explaining again and again that Targaryens weren't colonizers and didn't commit genocide, but as you say very well: "Fiction is fun for them when it’s convenient and then an exercise in Tumblr sjwism when it’s convenient." If you bring up the Church, they're gonna accuse you of hating religious people, not understanding the difference between valid criticism of religious institutions and hating people for their personal beliefs. As for the anti war argument, GRRM isn't “anti war” and people saying they are just sound stupid (sorry, but it’s true) as @la-pheacienne explained here.

Ohhhhh the anti-diversity dc antis on twitter are mad. There's a clickbaity headline about Carrie Kelley "race bent Robin" which, that article in itself deserves all the side-eyeing. So the anti-diversity dc antis on twitter went off how everything is ruined now because Robin is a black girl. And "and gender swapped."

They think Carrie Kelley is gender swapped.

Not that we need any more proof of what nonsense the supposed "fan backlash" against GK is, but another item, I heard that comic stans are complaining because the GK batkids actually form an alliance and will be kind to each other, because I guess, now comic stan twitter has decided team building and team family is bad, after upteen jillion years of DC comics doing TEAM ORIENTED BOOKS WHERE THEY BOND and many years of successful live action and animated tv series featuring TEAM BUILDING.

ok i haven’t made a post about fnaf in awhile but i am caught up with the blueycapsules situation that was all over my twitter the past week. honestly i think my biggest flex is that i never read a single blueycapsules comic in my life 🙈 no matter how bored i get i will never read that shit. MC films at this point just feel like a long series of ’Please clap/scream now’ moments specifically engineered to elicit reactions or viral moments on social media, and I guess provide materials for those corny online articles like ‘Ending of Doctor Strange 2 explained!’ and ’Five facts about Wanda only comic book readers would know!’; I wasn’t surprised at all to learn that Disney mines online spaces like Quora with algorithms to find out what people like for their plots, and sadly, it works; and I feel like the general rise in anti-intellectualism that derides critical thinking as snobbery exacerbates the problem.

I'm sorry but, five facts about Wanda just makes me think: "Number one: she's whitewashed in the MCU."-but those lists will never admit it so.....

I have not heard of Quora today but upon looking it up, I think its just sad to rely on websites like that. Like, why not just look at your fanbase sometimes instead of looking at question and answer websites???? Or the damn comics even....since that's what the MCU is meant to be adapted from.....

But yeah, I do see where your coming from there. Like, MCU is kind of just desperately trying to replicate the reactions they got from Infinity War-Endgame, and they failing hard each time. They think people just want cameos and cameos, but like, once you get past the excitement for seeing old Spidey villains and the two Peter's in No Way Home and having Captain Carter appear in Multiverse of Madness along with Mr. Fantastic and Black Bolt....your kind of left with people realizing how shit the pacing of the films was, let alone how shit the stories were. Even Endgame fell victim to people realizing this, because once the dust settles, you get people looking at the film critically and it never ends well for the MCU nowadays.

I would say at least thankfully people seem to be looking critically at Multiverse of Madness in some areas. Because people who saw the writer fuck up Loki obviously saw him proceed to fuck up Strange and co and are obviously finding the film very bad in areas of pacing, let alone how the story handles Wanda in wake of WandaVision and so on. Like, the only people praising Multiverse of Madness are your typical suspects and people on youtube and twitter and somehow Wanda stans praising Wanda gaining a body count while wanting to kill a child.

But the fact that this makes MCU money anyway is probably a sign that no matter what bad writing in favor of cameos and shit, the MCU does.....people will still buy into it and act like its the greatest thing ever and rinse and repeat.

You asked if there's a vocal opposition to Sam being Cap & yes there is. Captain America was a trending topic on twitter a few months ago because people were fighting over this. Again today there were people tweeting he's not cap, that Steve is the only one but at the same time they say that Bucky should have been given the shield. Sam gets a lot of support though, mostly now with the whole Captain Carter thing. But there was always going to have objections.

In the words of Sebastian Stan: "thank god I don’t have Twitter and this is why!" (Okay I do have Twitter but I check it maybe once a year when an interesting jdorama comes out).

First thing’s first: out of all the things EG!Steve did, passing the mantle to Sam was the most in character, logical thing he did in that movie (even if the way he did it was...bleh).

Of course there’s always going to be antis and bigots. I guess my question was...were there enough of them in their core audience in 2019 to change Disney's mind?

Let’s take all our biases out for a sec. Ultimately the MCU is a commercial decision and not a creative venture. What gave them the impression, in 2019 and continuing now, that retreading a dead Phase 1 side character was more profitable than building up a Phase 2 character who is one of the most iconic Black superheroes in the comics? It's going to take someone more savvy than me at looking at social media trends and is more immersed in American/Hollywood culture.

Black Panther's phenomenal success would have given a boost of confidence in audiences turning out for Sam, but what changed after his announcement in Endgame? Was there a big backlash - not on Tumblr, obviously, where it leans progressive, but elsewhere? Was there perhaps lack of engagement on social media with news about Sam and Mackie (which I'm still tending to see these days)? Was it perhaps a case of confirmation bias, i.e. they go looking for evidence that people don't like Sam, and they find a lot of it...even though the reality is there's an even bigger majority who supports Sam? Or is there some other metric by which they've been measuring interest and then decided...no, let's go back to the white woman who was marketable a few years ago and repackage her? Or is there something else also going on behind the scenes with who gets the most resources and favouritism with writers?

I guess to some extent I am also trying to resist the frequent blaming of the audience by other MCU fans when certain unpleasant decisions are made. It almost always comes from up top who have looked at whatever data they gained with a heavy dose of their own personal biases.

And yeah...it all comes down to the R word, doesn't it? It's been 28 movies, and only one of them had a Black lead - and that was the one set in a fictional African country. As Simu Liu rightfully pointed out, "We are not an experiment". But they've treated Sam like an experiment and they've now sidelined him in favour of the safer whiter choice.

I also like both ships ( although dickbabs is THE OTP).

I don't approve of people harassing creators (or other fans for the matter). Unfortunately, I've noticed it has become a new trend to twitter to harass creators who don't cater to fans the material they want - whether it has to do with characters or pairings. I really don't get it, because if you insult someone they probably won't start writing the stuff you like.

Usually, when I find a comic I don't like, I drop it like a hot potato because I'd rather spend my time reading something else I enjoy. And if I even feel the need to vent about something (because we all do sometimes) I'll do it on my blog using anti tags so I won't bother pro shippers and especially I won't tag the creators to my rants. Because that's common decency.

Most creators - Tom Taylor included- have no problem with fans politely point out parts of the story they didn't like or disagree with. But if someone bash all their work or their characters they will probably won't reply or even block the said fan.

Btw, lately I've noticed shipping wars are on the rise on twitter with fans even hating on DC artists who draw a pairing they personally dislike. That's embarrassing and pathetic attitude, imo.

I find it funny that there are quite a few anti Helaemonds out there who are Team Black. They have various reasons why they're against it but it's mainly because they hate Aemond with a passion and think the ship being canon would whitewash him even more and claim that Helaena deserves more than being just another love interest for a male character…Well, it's not that I have anything against that argument but the thing is the very same people write essays justifying B&C, they make fun of her suicide telling people on Twitter (Green leaning users obviously) they're fighting with to "Helaena yourself" whenever they disagree with them, call her a freak and now they want to pretend they care about her and other Green female characters. Give me a break. They're also quite mad at the idea of the writers borrowing elements from the Aemon/Naerys/Aegon dynamic to Helaegond…but because it would be an offense to Aemon to do that since Aemond is nothing like him, as if the general audience would even know about those three to care about it. Another claim I've seen recently from one of these people is that we only ship it because we want our own popular ship against Da*myra which is…crazy. Why is it that people from BOTH sides think we're shipping it to piss them off? Green antis think we're doing it to shove incest down their throats while the other ones think we're jealous of Daemyra, among other things. No, people ship things because they like those things, nothing more.

the amount of double-sided cringe - on the one hand, thinking what a clever retort it must be to suicide bait randos on the internet; on the other hand, taking a character who was universally considered the least problematic and mocking them for succumbing to grief after living through a traumatic event ... ? lame. the only thing it's giving is hatred against women and any expression of innocence

people shouldn't be so quick to stan prince aemon though!! after all, he did fuck all to protect naerys from aegon iv (we'll see if we ever get FB vol II if i'm being harsh or not, but had i been in his place my brother would have suffered a little staircase accident or slipped on a banana peel)

as to people shipping helaemond just to piss others off, that's just comical. how do you generate that level of artwork and fics and general fandom interest in a reactive ship? most of the stuff i've seen is organic and independent of any other shipping dynamics. people very clearly got it from the show, yes, bc they don't interact in FB,* but they really liked the presentation and concept & just went with it - it's not some big conspiracy here

*meaning to say the maester writing FB didn't bother to find records of their interactions bc why would he? it's supposed to be a historical textbook, it's not really relevant to the plot

Understatement. Let's see.

The film:

Used numerous bits from other comic book films that everyone noticed.

Corny jokes, including the one that sounded like a plug for Will Smith's MIB. 'Tell them the man in black was here'. No one even once uses Black Adam's full character name.

Keeping the overly emotional soundtrack playing in the background for the whole film? Sappy and manipulative. Marvel at least knows when to cut the music for some scenes.

Making a big deal of him killing lots of people and being an anti-hero when you got Batman.

I don't dislike the Rock, just not as big a fan as I used to be. I'll say he did a good job, but he IS older now. It really should have been someone else and an introduction to the Justice Society or whatever would have been nice. I actually wouldn't mind a Doctor Fate film.

Warner Bros and DC Comics:

Very toxic fans or trolls or whatever. Nonstop, relentless, negativity and smearing towards every Marvel/Disney venture and it's not just WB, judging by the hate trolling from other studio competitors.

Lies about the CGI. They Benghazi'd the CGI. Keep going on and on about how bad it is, then fans can't just concentrate on the film and performances.

Someone in one of those camps is definitely behind the group of hate bloggers that also make shitty critic videos about how bad Disney is and have targeted Brie Larson for years.

This is also how I know these other studios are more heavily conservative. I NEVER see Marvel use their marketing to crap on other studios and their projects. They just do the work. You'd think these yahoos would learn from seeing Elmo tanking his own companies by pushing negativity and hate on Twitter but NO. People do care about brands and how they present themselves. Maybe Disney is also heavily conservative but they are smart enough not to act like it. I may not like everything they put out, but they're consistent, have diversity, lots of cool stories and the marketing is positive...at least it was, until Elizabeth Olsen decided to buy a load of assholes for stans. First time I can recall having a bad experience with Disney since I was a child.
