Ooh yay! This got uhhhh out of hand lol

1. What do you like most about your favourite character?

*cue the instant argument in my head over who's the favourite*

I was literally about to go "look John gives me physics so..." and Scott shouted in my head "what about piloting, there's soooo much maths and physics in that and Virgil went "I'm a qualified engineer???" and Gordon said "oceanography has a huge focus on applied physics, and what about the biomechanics of the body we talk about as athletes" and Alan looked me dead in the eye and just said "SPACE?!?!"

I'm very physics obsessed and since I'm on summer holidays this is only going to build until I get back to school and get to torture a new set of students with my one true love 😂😂

Uh, anyway, aside from that the unfailing and unflinching decision to do what's right over and over and over again, even when it's hard, and to not only do what's right, but to do it with love and kindness and patience. Quietly getting on and solving the problems and it's the old story of all that pain and it only made him kind (thanks doctor who that's permanently etched into my being now but it's so real and it killlllllls me)

and now I'm all weepy 😭😭😭😭

5. Talk about your favourite Thunderbird or any other vehicle like you would talk about a pet.

*giggling* I don't have any pets and all I can think about is Hagrid saying that sometimes people can be a bit stupid about their pets

So.... mini fic?

"She's grown so much, Brains! How's she eating?"

"Scott, it's a machine, it doesn't eat. Thunderbird One's fuel cells are currently operating at 78% efficiency. We need to break 80% if we want those top speeds to be accessible."

"She'll get there," said Scott, cooing slightly as he stared up at Thunderbird One's shining hull. "She's the best plane in the world, she'll do anything we ask her too."

"It's not down to her - it - it's a machine Scott!"

"Oh, you're much more than that, aren't you girl?"

"It's the physics that determin–"

"You listen to me," Scott interrupted, paying Brains no mind. "We all know physics is important, but you and me? We have a bond beyond the physical world, I can feel it. You can feel it too can't you girl."

He paused, listening to a response from beyond the universe as the sun struck her silver casing and made it sing. Brains looked fit to explode beside them.

"That's right," Scott said, humming in agreement. "When you're all grown up, it'll be you and me, girl, we'll take them on together. Not long now, help Brains with his work now."

Scott patted her hull one final time, and grinned at Brains.

"She'll be good I promise. Forget 80%, I reckon she could hit 85."

Brains huffed.

"I'll keep that in mind."

For a moment, Scott lingered looking down at the blueprints spread out across the holos.

"Could you send me a copy of that one?" he asked, pointing at the very first technical drawing Brains had done, Jeff dictating his vision at his side.

Brains looked up at Scott, forlorn in the knowlesge that he'd be leaving 'his girl' behind once again as his leave ended.

He sighed and waved a hand, transferring a copy to Scott's device.

"Go on," he grumbled good-naturedly. "Take your baby photos and get out of here."

#long suffering Brains 😂😂💕#it was still so funny to me when MAX sacrificed himself and Scott was all sad and guilty #and Brains was just like don't be ridiculous he's not even lost #he's a machine as long as I have a copy of his core (which you grabbed) it's fine what's wrong with you #anyway 😄#ask games 😁💕#nobody tell me the actual details my memory is fuzzy but I'm rewatching soon and I want to be surprised

Here she is!!! 😄 Her battery compartment was beyond saving, but I'm still super happy with how she cleaned up even if she is nonworking! I'm naming her Biohazard :)

#putting her skin back on was a nightmare. she had no face screws #only plastic tabs that i had to break. so i had to pretty much glue it back on and hope for the best. also one of her ears broke off but #i just shoved the spine back in there. since she's not working anyway it doesnt rlly matter #i hope yall are satisfied w the end result!! 😄#2005 furby #furblr #i had to cut the gross stuff from her tummy fur so it looks a little bit patchy but not too bad

I wrote hours ago on the Watcher leaving YouTube announcement, but it was on a reblog and I wanted to bring up a small thing in my original tags.

I genuinely believe this decision will hurt them in the long run. When they made Watcher after leaving Buzzfeed it seemed like they talked about making content they wanted to make for fans of them they couldn’t under Buzzfeed.

But hyping this up as a big announcement, something for their fans to get excited for, just for it to be a subscription service? Not even consulting the fans they are requesting the money of to make this content? Polls, suggesting the idea in videos prior, tweets, anything?

It creates an image of not caring for your fans as much as their money. Which is the worst thing you can do as a content creator, even if it’s the truth for a creator. A subscription service is also not a sustainable model for them! I don’t believe they have enough content to warrant one. Look at Dropout, they have not only a large variety, but a number of popular shows on their too. Along with the fact it’s not available in some countries and the price tag, your alienating parts of your audience already.

This might actually lose them more money than staying on YouTube and doing memberships, teaming up with a big subscription service (or a semi popular small one like Dropout), or even creating kickstarters or higher patreon tiers. (*note: I do not know their current patreon tiers nor revenue)

Even if they back out now they’ve hurt their image. How many people are ready to stop watching them, and how many would still do so? I’m a very casual watcher and haven’t kept up with a lot of their content, but this decision doesn’t exactly inspire me to go watch it. Even if as I wrote this they changed their minds, why would I want to spend my time watching and giving revenue to creators so ready to turn their backs on people who enjoy their creations? So ready to take their money?

Running a business is hard. Being a content creator is hard. Working around YouTube is hard. Creators should be fairly paid for their work. They shouldn’t have to sacrifice creative vision for fear of ads and weird platform rules. Passion should be rewarded.

But this doesn’t feel like a move of passion. A move to create what they can’t YouTube. It feels like another story of influencers using their fans for money.

Content creators don’t owe you anything is a sentiment thrown around a lot, but it’s not completely true. Just as fans owe them respect, they owe respect to their fans. So too often we see creators soar higher into the sky and basking in the sun rays, forgetting the wax wings that ever let them fly in the first place.
