I, like a rational person, have been reading a hell of a lot of aokaga lately and I've now come up with the headcanon that aokaga, like kagehina, probably keep track of their wins and losses? Like for them, after a while, a lot of their competitive nature in basketball carries into their daily lives. So Kagami will cook dinner one night probably and Aomine will probably try to cook something better but it'd be horrible and Kagami adds that to his points of wins. (They're rarely tied and Aomine is usually the one winning but Kagami takes the one's he can get.) I say all of this because I was rereading Empty Shell by Franeridan for the millionth time and I was thinking, well what if one night when they're lying in bed Aomine rattles off some number that puts him ahead again after Kagami's internal stint where he was in the lead and Kagami is like.. huh? and Aomine is like I fell in love with you twice. I win.

anyway today's aokaga thoughts involve aokaga who don’t meet until college where aomine off-handedly joins the uni basketball team but he and kagami don’t butt heads over basketball. in fact, kagami empathizes with the fact that aomine has fallen out of love with the game. they bond instead over their studies. kagami was captain of his high school team so he’s been far more inclined to care about his grades. when aomine starts slipping, the coach simply makes kagami tutor him and that’s how their friendship grows.
