October 10...Remembering Malcolm Scott Carpenter 10 years ago, US Navy aviator, Cmdr, Aquanaut and Astronaut Scott Carpenter passed away aged 88. During the May 1962 "Aurora 7" mission, Carpenter became the first astronaut to wear a Swiss-made wrist watch in space: a custom-made Breitling Navitimer Cosmonaute chronograph with all-black 24 hours dial. A Retrospective On A Year Of Reading Thai Literature
Books read:
Aquanaut by Rick Stanton
A Wish In The Dark by Christina Soontornvat
Based on the fact that the narrator in “Aquanaut” embarks on a underwater exploration mission into the underwater caves of Thailand in order to save the boys trapped in the cave, I learned that Thailand boasts a diverse geography that includes not only beautiful beaches but also extensive cavern ecosystems. The vivid descriptions of underwater caves, their formations, and the space in the book highlight Thailand’s underground regions and its significance as a natural beauty and how entertaining it is to explore them. Also, While reading “A Wish in The Dark” My eyes were open to both the mountains as well as the rivers in the story which allowed me to picture more of Thailand’s natural beauty in just this narrative. With the descriptions of the water, and the mountain range really touched my heart.
In “A Wish In The Dark,” the story is set in a fictional Thai-inspired city called Chattana, where the narrative draws parallels to historical events like the abolition of slavery. Through this setting, I learned that Thailand has a complex history marked by social issues such as inequality and injustice. The book sheds light on how historical events have shaped Thai society and influenced its path towards progress and equality. In “Aquanaut” it is the actual story of the historic rescue of the 13 boys from the soccer team who were trapped in the cave.
Based on the fact that characters in both books engage with traditional Thai customs and beliefs, I learned that Thai culture is deeply rooted in traditions and spirituality. In “Aquanaut,” references to Thai cuisine like spicy curries and aromatic herbs showcase the importance of food in Thai culture. Additionally, the portrayal of Buddhist temples and rituals in “A Wish In The Dark” underscores the significance of religion in shaping social values and community practices in Thailand and the story of the light orbs is also significant as the most sacred light is the golden orb and in Thai culture, it is the color of Kings.
From “Aquanaut,” I learned about resilience and determination through the protagonist’s unwavering pursuit to rescue others and put your life on the line despite facing challenges in the underwater caves. This book emphasizes the importance of perseverance and courage in overcoming obstacles to achieve one’s goals. From “A Wish In The Dark,” I gleaned insights into themes of justice, compassion, and hope as characters navigate a world divided by privilege and poverty. The story highlights the power of empathy and solidarity in bringing about positive change and fighting against oppression. Together these two stories increased my understanding of Thailand and The beautiful world woven into these narratives. Both the real Thailand in “Aquanaut” as well as the world of Chattana in “A Wish In The Dark” painted Thailand in a way I have never thought of before. From the symbolism and thematic ideas in “A wish in the dark” touching my heart, to the heart-stopping, incredible narrative of the rescue of those boys in “Aquanaut”, I definitely recommend anyone to read Thai literature as it is very enjoyable.

aquanaut's holiday is such a cool little series i love it
Tumblr media
the ps1 entries go absolutely insane. aquanaut's holiday 1 has the whole reef construction thing while aquanaut's holiday 2 just looks and sounds and feels amazing, like something you'd see at an aquarium as a simulation terminal of some sort. it's so fun and the developers knew that players would love having a "follow creature with camera" mode to just have on in the background to watch as well so that's in there. honestly it's just so cool...

Aquanaut: Spider Fingers (chapter four, smut, mlm)
Tumblr media
A/N: Here’s a smut chapter from my book Aquanaut on AO3. I’d appreciate it if you’d go check it out if you enjoyed this, as I think it’s panning out very well. New smut one shots coming out soon, thank you all for your continued support!
Malik’s body quickly snapped over to face me.
“Jamie, you don’t know how to swim?”
I shook my head.
“Wait, so like, nobody ever taught you? Or are you scared of the water?”
“I am not scared,” I huffed, “I just didn’t get the opportunity to learn when I was a kid. My dad never taught me how.”
“Ah, that is the most pathetic thing I’ve ever heard,” he said while tracing a fake, single tear down his face, “You poor, poor thing.”
I rolled my eyes, turning my body back to the movie.
“I could teach you, if you want,” Malik poked my shoulder, “Don’t be a sourpuss.”
“Really?” I stopped pouting, uncrossing my arms, “You’d teach me?”
He hummed.
“Did your dad teach you to swim, then?”
“Nah, he didn’t have time, so I taught myself. It’s really not that hard if you’re not too scared to power through,” he chuckled, continuing to poke me.
“What, is that a shot at me? I’m some type of wimp now?”
“Pretty much.”
“Wow, you’re an asshole,” a smile spread across my face when I heard his laughter ring out.
“Hey,” his laughed slowly died out as he tried to catch his breath, “Come over here.”
I pushed myself over, sliding over the cushions of the couch right beside him. Malik threw the back of his head down on my lap with a loud sigh.
“Your legs are comfy.”
“Thanks, Mali,” I started stroking his face with my hand absentmindedly.
“Mali?”
I looked at him, still stroking his cheek, “What you don’t like it?”
“No, just the opposite, Jamie,” He smiled with closed eyes, “My mom used to call me that.”
“Hm? My dad used to call me ‘Jamie.’”
“Funny how it works, ain’t it?” he chuckled, turning his head to look me in my eyes.
The smirk he wore on his face created a fire in my lower stomach, reddening my face. I shifted my legs to hide the growing bulge in my pants, the stiffness in my pants growing as Malik tossed and turned his head while resting on my lap.
“Did you hear about the—?”
I felt the tent in my pants fully rise, prodding the side of his face. I gently pushed his head off of my thighs and turned away, absolutely horrified.
“I am so sorry,” I spoke from behind my hands, muffling my words, “I’m sorry, it’s just that your face was, uhm, really—!”
I felt Malik grip my arm and push me down, gently throwing his body overtop mine. He leaned his face down and rested an arm above my head, hovering over me.
“My face? My face makes you hard?” His eyebrow raised.
I nodded.
“That’s so cute,” he snorted, his warm breath hitting my flushed face, “You’re adorable, I almost can’t stand it, James.”
I reached up to him, pulling his head fully down to mine. Angling my head, I locked mouths with him. Malik ran his hand through my hair while he pushed his tongue deeper, exploring the entirety of my mouth. Reaching my hand up the back of his shirt, I dug my nails into his back as the aching length trapped in my pants strained the fabric.
I groaned into the kiss and bucked my hips, searching for friction against Malik’s crotch. He noticed my desperate movements and broke away from the kiss, wiping the string of saliva connecting us off of my face.
“You’re really impatient, Jay,” he let his hands travel to my pants, fondling my erection through my jeans.
“I’m sorry,” I whined, my cock twitching at his touch, “I just want you. Please?”
“Mhm, okay, baby,” he slid back on the couch, face-level with my bulge.
The sound of my zipper being pulled filled the room, along with my scattered whines and gasps. He pulled both my jeans and boxers down to my knees, and my cock sprung free from the confines of both. My cock hit my stomach, oozing pre-cum on my shirt. He wrapped a hand around the base, and used the other to draw lazy circles around my leaking tip. I tried to avoid meeting Malik’s gaze, but the feeling of his eyes crept up on me, forcing me to look down at him pumping my cock in his tender hands. My blush settled deeper on my face, so I covered my it the best I could with my arm, fogging up my glasses from my breath hitting the fabric of my sleeve. I felt the air from his through-the-nose laugh on my dick, the coldness of it making me flinch.
“Don’t hide from me,” he let go of my length, pushing his hand up my shirt, “I want to see your face while I suck you off.”
I gasped at both his vulgarity and the feeling of his warm hand on my abdomen. He started his ‘spider finger’ movement, moving down to the trail of my pubic hair slowly. A low, whiny growl came from me the faster he tapped, the ticklish sensation it gave me made my chest heaved lightly. He returned his attention back to my shaft, taking it slowly into his mouth. He bobbed his head up and down on it, while still tracing his fingers around my stomach and chest.
“Mali, I think uhm, I think,” I groaned, feeling my legs tremble, “I’m close, here, pull off.”
Instead, he throated my cock deeper, taking the full length of it, letting his spit dribble down it. I gripped the couch cushion under me, restraining myself from bucking my hips, forcing my cock deeper into his mouth. I let out a final, harsh moan when my cum spurted down his throat.
“You taste good, wanna try?” He sat up and leaned up to my face, peering at me through half-lidded eyes.
I pushed my lips onto his, tasting my salty cum as we swapped spit, forcing our tongues in each other’s mouth. I pulled off of him in order to catch my breath. I tried to lower myself down to his clothed dick, wanting to pleasure him as he did me.
“No, baby, not tonight. I want tonight to be just about you, okay? Now come here,” Malik turned me around, placing me on his lap, wrapping his arms tightly around my waist.
“Malik, I want to—“
He bit my neck lightly, licking over the marks he left. I nuzzled into his nibbling, sighing at the tender bruises he scattered on me.
“There, that’s good,” he pulled away to admire the purple marks, “I bet you’re tired.”
He threw both of us down, still holding me tight.
“Let’s just sleep for now,” he yawned, “Night, Jamie.”
“I love you, Malik,” I whispered, loud enough only for my ears.

Mercury astronauts & Rolex Navy test-pilot, NASA Astronaut & Navy SEALAB Aquanaut Malcolm Scott Carpenter was the first American astronaut to wear a wristwatch in space, a Breitling NaviTimer Cosmonaute during his May 1962 MA-7 “Aurora-7” mission. After his spaceflight Carpenter met French naval officer/researcher Jacques-Yves Cousteau and joined US Navy SeaLab program as an Aquanaut. Between 1964 & 1970, Carpenter was seen wearing Rolex Submariner diving watches and he also got a Rolex SeaDweller, one of the very first in the USA. Carpenter retired from NASA in 1967, and from the US Navy in 1969. 50 years ago, in 1970 Carpenter had his third official NASA portrait taken in which he wore his Navy Commander uniform & a Rolex Submariner 5512 diving toolwatch on a black strap. Rolex has the most different space-flown wrist watch versions, as at least 8 were worn in space (GMT-master, GMT-master II, Datejust, Daytona 6263, Submariner, Sea Dweller, Yachtmaster and Oysterquartz).
