But in the RadioApple/DuckieDeer fandom a lot of those making fanwork, including the smuttier stuff, are acespec/arospec themselves so maybe learn what is actually going on in these fandoms before try to gatekeep in their tags

Hi hello hi. As an AroAce individual in a QPR who has no desire for a romantic or sexual relationship, I think shipping Alastor in QPRs is so so fun and people should do it more. I also think it works for a good amount if not all of the ships I've seen him in.

Alastor and Rosie: Hell yeah. They're already great friends and every interaction we've seen between them has been pure and adorable. Rosie Gently guiding Alastor through his identity because he isn't exactly up with the slang. Them going out for tea and human flesh Sunday afternoons. Them giving each other forehead kisses and holding hands platonically.

Alastor and Angle dust: Mhmm. Angle not really wanting Sex or romance after all he's been through. Angle respecting Alastor's identity and not pushing for anything more than friendship. Alastor not really liking Angle at first because of their differences, But tolerating him regardles. Alastor explaining to Angle that Romantic relationships don't have to involve Sex (I'm an Asexual Angle truther.) Angle offering Alastor a hug that Alastor reluctantly accepts. Them cuddling at night with a pinky Promise of nothing more.

Alastor and Vox: Go ahead. A fic about Alastor trying to Navigate exactly how he feels about Vox, Because when he died the term AroAce didn't exist, so he thinks it's romantic attraction, Maybe they kiss and Alastor is like "Ha! No!" Maybe that's why they had their falling out? Who knows.

Alastor and Lucifer: So So SO much Yes. (This is my personal favorite) The two of them hating each other, but putting up for each other for Charlie's sake. Slowly growing to actually tolerate and maybe even like being around the other. Exchanging snarky remarks in a more playful way. Alastor finding Lucifer sitting in a pile of ducks and despair and offering his hand to help him up and take him to the hotel. Never letting go of his hand. Fuck Enemies to Friends to Lovers I want an Enemies to Friends to Qpr arc goddamnit.

I do think it's okay to ship Alastor even outside of QPR's, BUT. If you do, don't just ignore Alastor's identity. AroAce people get far less representation than the rest of the LGBTQ+ community. I can think of one other canon Character off the top of my head. So it's not okay to erase the little rep we do get. In the end I think it's important to listen to what AroAce people have to say on the matter, it is our representation after all.

all I'm going to say to the collective TMA fandom tonight is a large, unironic THANK YOU for being normal about Jon's asexuality. By "normal" I mean openly portraying and embracing ace-ness in each and every flavor. Creator after creator in this fandom has their own unique interpretation of Jon's sexuality, and I truly, legitimately feel that this group has created one of the most nuanced and healthy environments for discussing different kinds of attraction

ultimately when it comes to shipping and fandom space treatment of aspec characters i just don't accept "aro/ace people can still date/have sex" as an answer from nonaspecs. like yeah. mhm. okay. now i think we both know that you're not saying that out of real interest in the diversity of aspec experiences. so you can turn in your seventeen-page essay on why and how you plan to examine this character's aspec identity within the context of a romantic or sexual relationship complete with evidence from canon and peer reviews from multiple aspec people within the next week or i'm putting you in the pit from the edgar allen poe story

On Episode 5 of "Hazbin Hotel", the fandom, and the treatment of Charlastor shippers

I'm getting really tired of all of the "Haha, I always hated Charlastor, we won, and you lost, fuck you!" people on Tumblr being rude, mean, or even downright mocking and cruel to the people who like Charlastor. No, I don't think that "Vivziepop hates Charlastor", or that there was some sort of conspiracy to "torpedo the Charlastor ship". If she did, she wouldn't have said, to paraphrase, "ship anyone you want from the show". (Hell, she once paired Vaggie and Angel Dust.)

Charlastor shippers have already known for a long time that Charlastor was never going to be canon, so Episode 5 doesn't really change anything we didn't already know. Shipping is supposed to be about fun, not "winning". If you ship Charlastor, that's okay. If you don't ship or like Charlastor, that's okay, too. However, making posts or comments saying "fuck you" to Charlastor shippers, or tagging anti-Charlastor posts as "#charlastor", is deeply rude and offensive.

Harassing or bullying Charlastor shippers is also unacceptable.

I don't think Vivziepop would approve, and as a "fandom oldie" (30+) who also has friends in animation, me and my personal friends are going to keep liking and shipping Charlastor, regardless of what is - or is not - "canon". I suggest other Charlastor shippers do the same.

So you know that thing that's floating around about Vivziepop not wanting to ruin people's fun by confirming Alastor's romantic orientation?

I was going to make a venty (untagged) post about how that's kinda queerbait-y* and arophobic. But then I was like "you know what, I should check the source because I don't remember the exact quote."

And it turns out I never actually saw the exact quote. Nor did anyone talking about it bother to include the context. And while I don't think either removes the queerbait-y* or arophobic aspects of the statement, they certainly make it better than it initially seemed to me.

*I am keeping the actual word on the shelf, I just don't know a better one to use here. I think what she said is SIMILAR to queerbaiting but is NOT queerbaiting.

With the queerbait-y stuff, it still maintains the "aromantic people, tune in, this character may or may not be aromantic. We'll tell you eventually, just keep watching!"

With the arophobia, it still maintains the prioritization of shipping over representation, and treats aromanticism as a subsect of asexuality at best, and as flat out not an orientation at worst.

I don't think either is as bad as my original perception, but they certainly aren't good. And keep in mind, this was 3 years ago, any number of things about her beliefs could have changed in any which way since then.

But what gets me is that Vivziepop absolutely did not say that everyone should just let everyone else have their fun. What she said was to have fun and be respectful of his orientation and the people that are represented by him. She says that multiple times.

I'm not feeling this generous, but I guess you could say the fandom had some kind of Mandela Effect over what she actually said.

I think it's more likely that a few people, maliciously or not, spread the incorrect paraphrase without context, and the rest of the fandom, reasonably, believed them.

Anyway the lesson here is check your sources before you contribute to misinformation on the internet.

The radioapple ship to me feels completely like a crack ship. Like these two guys who have zero romantic or sexual inturest in eachother but have the most married couple vibes ever. I take full responsibility for the number of times I’ve helped fill up your ask box but at least I’m entertaining (or at least I hope you think I am).

Anyway, I was reminded of what the fandom was like back when I had just watched the pilot back in 2020. I promise there's a reason I'm telling you all this. The fandom back then basically only had that plus whatever bones Viv would throw at us, so I didn’t know about the Vees (a bunch of other people who kept up better than I did knew tho) and mostly just saw a ton of people shipping Alastor and Angel Dust. And I was like, yeah that’s the most aesthetically appealing ship and I couldn't deny the amusing ways this could play out but Alastor is aroace so I wasn't fully on board unless that was addressed in some way. I just liked the fan comics where they become friends.

Now, the aforementioned reason. Imagine Shit Happens and Alastor becomes more friendly and comfortable around Angel just as friends. Like the two found something to bond over and now they're like bros. Now imagine Vox notices this and is SO MAD like Angel already takes up so much of his boyfriend's time and now hes after his crush?? how dare he??? And Valentino is misreading the situation as "oh great my boyfriend is obsessed with the celibate guy and now my favorite whore is too??". Neither of them are handling this well. They're fighting each other. Val is demanding more Angel time at the studio and Vox is finding his own ways to lash out at Angel. Velvette has to be the one to convince them both not to go to the hotel and start picking fights. All because Alastor made another friend.

sorry this is an older ask I've kinda slacked on asks these past few days. but yes, I really enjoy the idea of the alastor-angel dust friendship, the sex-repulsed guy and the hypersexual guy forming an unlikely friendship. but also love them especially in the context of the vees considering those two are LITERALLY the reasons for the vees attention on the hotel in the first place. like if they weren't there they legit would not give a fuck. them working together would make it SOOOOO chaotic for vox and val it's so funny. I don't think vox's attention on alastor really bothers val that much, he seems mostly entertained by it or just unbothered. he would be very bothered by angel dust's attention on alastor though. as for vox well. yeah for sure he's gonna be DOUBLE bothered by angel dust considering his already existing fucked up spite of him for the val thing, and NOW he's all buddy-buddy with alastor? oh fuck no.

velvette absolutely has to hold them back because she's the only one with any sort of brain cell left in this situation. it's horrible.
