From My Writing Graveyard

The Knight And The Writer
After a long day of fighting ferocious dragons, Sir Isaac returned to his room. He removed the heavy armor and takes another look at the mirror.
“Perhaps, today will be the day, when I will see that fair maiden again!” He said gallantly. “Perhaps, she will write another adventure for her dear knight in shining armor!”
The glassy surface suddenly rippled and revealed a young woman, sitting at a desk, flooded with paperwork and books. Sir Isaac noticed that she is skimming through a book with diagrams and picture of a strange bird of red. He wanted to get a better look of the creature, so he carefully crafted his question. He pushed through his nervousness and insecurities, and he finally asked, “My fair maiden, what---"
“Lauren, are you sure that my publishers are requiring this?” She groaned and facepalmed. “I mean, seriously, why am I required to include a particular, non-fictional bird species in a fictional series? That doesn’t make any sense!”
“…”
“Yes, yes. YES! I understand. The company is getting funded to do this, so that we can raise awareness for endangered birds. But, come on! Why did I get stuck with a bird called a “red-tailed booby?”
“…”
“Don’t get me wrong. I love my writing career! In fact, I have had some great success with my latest book, Sir Isaac and The Dragons of Nevermore, but…” She paused.
How do I explain this? She pondered.
“Lauren, I don’t know how I feel about introducing boobies into the world of Sir Isaac. I just don’t want my work getting turned into an eighth-grade giggle fest!”
Sir Isaac waited patiently, but his mind soon began to wander.
I wonder why she is so worried about these boobies? Are they really that dangerous? Perhaps, they pierce armor or they use elemental spells? Hold on! If they are ‘in danger,’ why can’t I do something to help them? And what exactly is an “eighth-grade giggle fest?" Is that some kind of dragon or beast that I should be worried about?
“Anyway, I have to get going. Those birds aren’t going to magically appear, in the next book, by themselves! Bye!” She hung up. “I am so done with today! And, who would have thought that this nightmare would be all because of boobies!” She raised her hand in disbelief. “BOOBIES!”
The mirror returned back to normal, and Sir Isaac prepared for a night’s rest.

Reduction
Word Count: 552
Warnings: Negative thinking
--
Logan’s workload had been reduced.
It was a necessary exchange to maintain balance in Thomas’ mind, creating more opportunities for collaboration between the sides, to encourage mutual understanding and acknowledgement of issues, and to benefit Thomas on a greater scale than ever before.
How could Logan be bothered by such a bold and important initiative?
Sure, his tasks were minimized to restore balance, leaving him with absolutely no use beyond answering the others’ questions so long as it only required factual knowledge and his responses were kept succinct and straight-forward. Really, the biggest benefit he had given to the others was to grant them more of their own time back to use constructively, instead of having to listen to Logan drone on about any particular topic.
It allowed the others to all interact with each other and assist Thomas even more and proved that Logan had little need to pop in and offer anything of value anymore. They were able to be their best selves due to his absence.
He should probably have been grateful for the downtime. The benefits to Thomas and the other sides had been immense so far; they’re more at peace and getting along and not causing problems that Logan was driven to solve, so this was for the best, right?
They were happier and that was supposed to matter more than anything, so this was fine.
He should be satisfied.
But he wasn’t. In fact, Logan found that he was running out of ways to add a hopeful and positive spin to his situation.
The complete removal of his workload had left Logan ultimately unproductive and worthless and unnecessary. He was unable to serve beyond his function, though why had he ever expected he should do more than that in the first place?
Why was he so compelled to find some way out of this situation, despite its positive effects for Thomas and the other sides? Why did he want to find some kind of solution that would only benefit himself, even if he aimed not to interrupt everyone else’s obtained tranquility?
Did he really have any right to demand special treatment, to think he deserved differently than the others? If they were satisfied, why couldn’t he be, too?
What was this illogical desire to burden the others, to undo their earned progress, simply due to his own dissatisfaction? If this was an emotion, some torturous blight on his psyche, what purpose did it serve in this moment?
He had no right to debate his status, to grant himself a chance to resolve this non-issue. The others wouldn’t want to hear it, anyway, and it was far from what was expected of him in his function to Thomas.
It wouldn’t be right.
It was clearly some irrational emotion trying to drive him towards disruptive action, to purposefully bog down a now-perfect system. He needed to keep a clear mind and stay on track. Perform his function, stick to his minimal workload, and stop complaining about frivolous matters.
No, he couldn’t challenge this. He shouldn’t do such a thing to Thomas or the others. He had to stop thinking about this and simply get used to it already.
If it was for everyone else’s sake, for their happiness and health, then it had to be worth it.

31, 55, 71 for the fic asks!
hi hi!
31. Do you start with the characters or the plot when writing?
ohhhh that's a good question... typically i start with the plot and then the pov character comes to me, but since i typically write very character-driven fics, their emotional states are very much integral to the plot
55. Of the characters you write for, which is your favorite? Has that choice been swayed at all by your followers/readers’ reactions to certain ones?
OOO probably akira :') because he is my favorite and i love him so bad. this has also definitely been swayed by readers every time someone compliments how i write akira i feel supercharged with power. i love him i love writing him
71. When it comes to more complicated narratives, how do you keep track of outlines, characters, development, timeline, ect.?
well. i think about it constantly which is the main thing. but i do tend to put a little bullet point outline at the end of every doc ... for example this is page one of my notes for merely players (of which there are many more pages of notes and also a separate chapter by chapter breakdown, but that has sort of been... thrown a bit off-kilter 😅)
