I always wondered what fics do my favorite authors read bc maybe if I start reading them too, I'll be able to write like them 😤 Kidding aside, can you recommend some Erwin x Reader fics that you really like/inspire you to write? I'm fine with on-going ones 🤩
little anon i could KISS you!! i've been looking for an excuse to make an erwin fic recs post so here we go *cracks knuckles* brace yourselves heheh (warning: most of these recs are 18+)
first of all: everything @riewritten has ever written. EVERYTHING. that goes without saying. her brain is so big. i wish i could take a trip inside her mind. rie ily
this is a story of the sea by shinzouing is a canonverse eruri x reader fic, where the three enter a relationship (or rather, erwin enters a relationship with both of them. levi and reader are idiots at first. the pining is so delicious though). where do i even begin to talk about this masterpiece? it broke me. it seriously broke me. i'm just going to say that the universe she has created in this story (as well as in the sequel which i'm going to talk about in a sec) feels so real and so right that when i finished it i needed a minute to remind myself what details that are ACTUALLY canon and what aren't. peak writing i swear. heartbreaking, but worth it.
after tiasots has broken your heart, go read beyond the sea by the same author and let it piece it back together!! it's currently being posted, and it's basically the continuation of tiasots BUT erwin survives at shiganshina (unlike in tiasots). again, same thing: peak writing, and a little universe it's sooo easy to get lost in. this story will end up living rent free in your mind, trust me.
aaand also set in the tiasots universe is certain obscure things!! it's three chapters, and in each of them they take turns between being dominant or submissive. this is smut that goes a lot harder than what you can find in tiasots but everything shinzouing writes is pure gold
to complete the eruri x reader category (aka the fics that made me go "i think i might be into the concept of throuples") there's two lovers by feelingthorny. it's also set in canonverse. erwin and levi are in an established relationship, one day they invite reader into their bed, and... Big Feelings ensue. i have another fic by feelingthorny by recommend, and oh man, she truly has a way of writing emotions that is so evocative and poetic, it truly drags you into the moment and you are able to feel exactly what they are feeling, they're so immersive. the smut parts literally drip with body worship, it's insane. beautiful.
the other fic by feelingthorny i HAVE to mention is close call. this one is pwp, but FUCK this erwin is SO DREAMY. and, as one might tell, the writing is just marvelous.
next, i recommend every! single! fic! that belongs to the to build a home series by nylondreams. the romance, the intimacy, the tenderness... ahh, they're so lovely to read. and *cough* the first fic in the series gave me a breeding kink *cough*
more recommendations in the "horny fics that also made me fall in love even more" category: e major, uncorked and treasured memories, all by whatsherquirk. delicious. that's all i'm going to say.
prying eyes by SecretsOfHarprocrates is in my opinion a depiction of erwin that's very close to how he'd behave in canon (if canon included sexy times)
four christmases by ghost_party was !!! ok i don't really know what to say about this one because it's been a while since i read it, but you have to trust me and check it out!!
i think that's all for now, i hope i haven't forgotten anything (if i have i'll just reblog this post and add more). happy reading <3
now PLEASE give me an excuse to make an eruri fic recs post (or even a levi one)

Do you respond to comments?
yes

the only thing i can think of that would be angsty towards the end would be Santa Tell Me from my Holiday Bits and Bobs - it was pretty much 1800 words of angst
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
probably the second hand unwinds - it was one of my hey sweetheart fics and is pretty much just shy of 3700 words of alex being a sap (and the boys being cute girl!dads)
Do you get hate on fics?
um not hate - but recently a weird 'that couldn't have happened cuz of yada yada' kind of comment

omg - i don't know that's too hard - i can tell you current fave is firstprince but my all time fave might actually be HP/CharlieW - maybe? or if we're going off amount i've read for it hp/dm or kirk/mccoy oh or bagginshield
What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
i had always planned go back and do more for my darcy/clint fic and make it into a series, but those ideas that got written down lamented away in a doc and are gone now lol
What are your writing strengths?
um....i don't know do i have these - i can write smut fairly well
What are your writing weaknesses?
i usually hafta go back and make sure i didn't just get uber prose-y and included enough dialogue - unless i'm doing it on purpose
Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
cool if it works for the character - i really like when there's a translation somewhere - unless it's obvious what it means
First fandom you wrote in?
wrote in and posted somewhere - HP - followed closely by Idol RPF - i dabbled in other things that never got posted tho b4 that (the usuals for any 'lil geeky girl - star wars, star trek, angel, buffy
Favorite fic you've written?
idk - maybe something in your mouth cuz it just came togther so quickly and was fun to write (even if i intially thought it was gonna be smuttier lolz) or maybe my silly lil fairytale baby just say yes that topped out over 20k it's my first RWRB actual AU posted that wasn't just a small ficlet
alright so few quick tags to: @typicalopposite @adreamareads @inexplicablymine @stellarm
@sophie1973 @suseagull04 @hgejfmw-hgejhsf @itsmaybitheway

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Tagged by @hiddenxplaces-blog
1. How many works do you have on ao3?
52
2. What's your total ao3 word count?
1,098,853
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Marvel. Specifically TFATWS at the moment.
4. Top five fics by kudos:
Time-Lost (IronStrange) Fathomless (IronStrange) Scribbles On Our Souls (DrPepperony) Heart of Gold (IronStrangeFrost) Persistence (IronStrange)
5. Do you respond to comments?
Almost every time. Sometimes I get a bit caught up or delayed, but typically I respond to comments pretty regularly. I love chatting with readers!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I don't think I've actively posted the fic with the truly angsty ending, yet, so I think the closest is probably a bittersweet ending with Still Here. (IronStrange / Stephen & Peter)
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Well this one took a sec. Keeper (IronStrange), probably?
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Oh not typically to my face, no.
9. Do you write smut?
Yep.
10. Craziest crossover:
I don't really do crossovers, so really the only crossover I can think of plainly is the DRoP/IronStrange fic we did, Heart of Gold.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I've seen so far.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! A fair few of them. 💓
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yep. A few!
14. All time favorite ship?
"All-time"? Time hasn't ended, I could hardly say. 😏
15. What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
At this point? Embraced. And I'm so sorry to everyone who was waiting for more.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Wait you want me to say nice things about myself? Goddamnit. I used to think dialogue was a weakness of mine, but I think I've improved a lot over the last couple of years since writing scripts necessitated writing solid dialogue, so I'm pretty confident in that, now. I'm also fairly strong where creating lore and histories are concerned; you want me to explain the magic in a universe? I've got you. You want to know the history of a region? I've got that down, too. World-building in general is my bread and butter.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Does "actually finishing a story" count? The reality is, I lose motivation really easily. I function best when I have someone to consistently bat ideas and things back and forth with, otherwise I get severely in my head about things to the detriment of whatever I'm writing. I also rely more heavily on degree modifiers than I should, and while I'm aware of it I still suck at minimizing it.
18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
I find it highly dependent on whose PoV the story is in. If the PoV character doesn't speak the language, I love being just as confused as them by not knowing the language. If the PoV character does speak the language I can be a little more picky about it, unless it's simply a singular word of endearment or something, because those can be difficult to translate even if you know both of the languages. But I have a love of and fascination with languages.
19. First fandom you wrote in?
Uh.... Yu-Gi-Oh!, I think?
20. Favorite fic you've written?
What an excellent question. I'm actually really proud of (Loss Of) Control (WinterBaron). I set out with some really specific goals for what I wanted to accomplish with it, and I mostly succeeded. There's definitely a section that's weaker than the others, but I pushed myself outside of my comfort zone and made an effort to tackle a trope I'd never written in fic, and to tackle an element of that trope that I felt like I wanted to see handled more in depth. And I'm proud of the result.

Y'all remember Sad Girl?
Tumblr media
Well, Bucky and Doll's story might be over but that doesn't mean the end of Sad Girl.
I've started the process of turning the series into a book and I'm almost done with my first manuscript! Of course, there will be changes because I don't own Marvel or any of its characters. The essence I created for the characters we love and those we don't (I'm looking at you Pepper and John) will still be there. They're getting new names, better backstories, and a face lift or two.
It means so much to me that I still see notes for my first work coming in every day because I wasn't even sure I wanted to post it at all. I was so afraid that people wouldn't like my writing or that my fics would be too niche. All of the love and support do not go unnoticed and I am so thankful for each and every one of you. I can't wait for whatever comes next!!!
Without further ado, the first snippet of Divine Violence....
Voices overlap each other in the back yard with occasional laughs thrown in here and there. The long table that Callahan leaves in the small New York backyard is full of the usual people that basically live at his house. Isla’s voice is the loudest among the crowd, being heard by everyone around regardless of who is actually talking to her. It’s not that anyone truly cared because whenever she spoke, everyone stopped to listen. She had a way about her to made what she had to say that much more important than whatever else was being said. Maybe it was the way she commanded a room when she walked in or the warmth that radiated off her that made people want to listen to what she had to say.
One of Callahan’s men, Oliver had made a passing joke about her accent this time, warranting a stern but playful lecture from her.
“When you speak five languages, you can make fun of my accent but until then keep your mouth you bilingual fool,” she jokes as she takes a sip of her wine, smirking at the shocked expression he’s making.
“Can you believe that? She just called me stupid,” he said to his brother Archie who is mirroring her smirk.
“No you said you were a fool. Being stupid and being a fool are similar but not the same thing but she is right. You only speak French and English and not even that well.”
“Oh wow you both are ganging up on me now. So much for blood sticking together.”
Archie shrugs, “Isla is right here so…”
Callahan has yet to make an appearance at the dinner, leaving Amira to wonder if he would ever show considering that most everyone had already finished their food. Sitting next to the woman of the hour, Amira tries to immerse herself into the conversation but witty comments and intelligent comebacks die on her tongue when she tries. At her other side, Carter tries to not make it obvious that he’s been watching her but fails miserably when she catches him looking away too quickly for the fourth time.
She leans over to lessen the chance that someone will hear her, “Is there a reason why you keep looking over at me?”
“Checking on you, that’s all.”
“Checking on me or keeping tabs?”
Carter smiles to himself as he looks around the table, “I don’t think I need to keep tabs on you when we’re surrounded by Cal’s people.”
“Fair enough but I’m okay. You can enjoy your dinner and not worry about me.”
“Would it be so bad if people did worry about you?”
His question catches her off guard. Leave it to Carter to make things deeply personal when everyone else is joking about the current president and taking bets on who is going to prank Callahan the best.
“No, it wouldn’t but,” she trails off for a moment, finger rubbing the rim of her glass, “I’m saying that you don’t have to.”
“I’m sure you can tell but we’re all family here which means we worry and care about each other. You,” he says pointing at her, “are a part of our family now so of course we’re going to check on you from time to time.”
She pushes his hand away with a small sigh, “I don’t think I count as family.”
“You’re here now, eating and talking to us. You’re even challenging Cal which no one is brave enough to do in their first few months, let alone first few days. Sure you might be new but you’re already starting to become an important part of our every day life, which makes you family.”
Amira rolls her eyes, “I hardly think that counts but I’ll let you believe that.”
Carter goes to say another thing about how she needs to be more open to the idea but Callahan’s voice interrupts his thoughts.
“I shouldn’t be surprised that you guys started without me but damn, still hurts.”
Isla throws a roll at him, nearly missing him as he side steps to avoid the flying bread missile.
“Maybe you should be on time for dinner and you wouldn’t miss out,” she teases him while moving seats so that the space next to Amira is free.
Amira gives her a surprised look that she returns with a playful but slightly sinister smile. The seat switch is a calculated move, Amira figures as it leaves space for Callahan to sit next to her. She clears her throat and sits up straighter as the giant man takes his place next to her, brushing his arm against hers as he does. Goosebumps erupt across her skin against her will and she curses herself internally for wearing a tank top. The warm summer air, however, wouldn’t have let her survive anything with more fabric but it works in her favor as it makes the goosebumps disappear as quickly as they came.
“Good evening,” he whispers to her, leaning and invading her space, “How are you?”
“I’m fine.”
Isla chokes on a laugh and shoots them a coy smile when they over at her.
“How was your day?” he asks, trying to start a tiny conversation with the unamused woman.
“It was fine.”

Hi sleepy! Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you! Have a wonderful year ahead! While I have been a long time ghost fan, I have to admit that this is the first time I've seen your work and I think it's absolutely fantastic! I would like to ask you four questions. 1- Apart from the usual traits, what was it about the character that drew you to ghost? 2- What inspired you to decide to pair up ghost with jade and how did you come up with her character? 3- How long have you been an artist? 4- Have you considered the possibility of actually writing a proper story about ghost and jade like one with a lot of chapters? Cause I've read your short stories and I think they are marvelous. Keep rocking the artwork and leading an amazing life! I wish you the best!:)
Hello hello! (´ ∀ ` *) Thank you so much!
Apart from the usual traits, what was it about the character that drew you to Ghost?
Well, apart from me having a thing for dark, big grumpy man who covers his identity with a mask, I think he's a very interesting character and leaves much room for fans to explore, specifically in the current rebooted version. Like how his character grows from disliking Soap/just working with others in general because they might hold him back, to finally understanding that he needs his teammates and showing himself to the teammates as the highest form of trust. There's just so much to add there; moments where he slowly opens himself up, where he finally allows other people to come in and know him (because of course the campaign is too short JAKSLSDKFJL). So yeah, the complexity of his character, and the wide room for exploration for character development.
What inspired you to decide to pair up Ghost with Jade and how did you come up with her character?
As I have answered in a few asks before, I just wanna give this man a BIG tight hug and give him a happy ending, and Jade is my manifestation of that. For a man who's literally closed himself to the world other than the moniker "Ghost", who is deemed as a legend and a myth, a soldier who's highly task-oriented, he would keep everyone he knows at arm's length. So I think in order for him to open up, he would need someone special who primarily understands him. Someone who knows what it feels like to be a living weapon and how heavy of a burden it is. Someone who gets him enough to alleviate his burdens and, for once, give him peace of mind. Like who the fuck in the world even knows what that feels like? Who can he share his burdens with? You got it : Jade. I'd like the thought of Jade being a paradox to Ghost, as she's been through a lot of trauma and darkness much like him, but she somehow managed to keep her 'light' - seen on how she treats people (and him), and how she's still as capable and as skillful as him to finish her job, and that's precisely how I want to insert her into the story. Ghost and Jade share that same aspect of working alone and the need to learn that they're not alone - that this person actually understands what the other has been through.
How long have you been an artist?
Hmmm.... if it's in the context of professionally (as in started making money and treating drawing as a serious passion instead of just a hobby), it's since I was 17 years old, so about 3 years. But if the question is more to the 'since when did I start drawing', I've been drawing since I was like 4 years old. It's all I've ever known, it's all I've ever done. So a long time.
Have you considered the possibility of actually writing a proper story about Ghost and Jade like one with a lot of chapters?
Y E S. (★‿★) I am currently writing a 12 parter (probably less, probably more ASKJJDFJASDF) of MWII Ghost x Jade series called "Cold Heart". I have all the outlines deep in my Google Docs! It's basically the MWII campaign story, but add Jade into it, and how she changes things up (and how she and Ghost started to grow close). I just need to write it. Though unfortunately only the prologue is posted (you can find it on my masterlist) as I'm still on my finals exam. But! After my finals are over, I'll immediately jump on the series and write it!
Hope that answers the question, and thank you for asking! (❁´◡`❁)

[20 Question Fic Writer Tag]
Tagged by @aeide and @ainulindaelynn 💖 I did this one a few months ago but a few answers have changed since then so I'll update those. 😊
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Six now! Four one-shots, a short-ish multi-chapter which was supposed to be a one-shot that got away from me, and my longfic which at this point I should have just waited to post but am definitely still chipping away at.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
33,030 which is almost double my count from a few months ago. Woaaaaaaaaahhhh
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Still Assassin's Creed, now dipping into Baldur's Gate 3 as well.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Still the same five fics in the same order but with slightly different numbers:
Hideaway - 149
Bright Skies - 139
Press On, Move Along - 94
Out of the Cold - 43
Honor Bound - 29
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes! Always.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Still Press On, Move Along.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Still Hideaway.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Still hate-free, for now.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Sure do 💀 and I've posted some of it since the last time I did this. I think the only way I can really describe it is emotionally-charged, because if I'm going to horny jail it will at the very least be in service of some kind of character development. 😭
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Still occasionally poke away at the AC x Star Wars AU, but I'm not super invested in it right now. But I'm sure that will change as soon as a new Star Wars thing comes out. Since I last did this I also went digging through the depths of my writing folder and found a Walking Dead x MCU crossover that I must have started when I was like 14 years old. Absolute fucking horror show that I am so very thankful I never wrote enough to post. 🤡
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Still no, as far as I'm aware.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, except for yelling back and forth about ideas with friends. I would probably be open to it but also maybe not because I know I am extremely unreliable.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
Saying "all-time" favourite feels a bit much, but as far as mental real estate and also just sheer number of words written, Leovor far surpasses any other ship I've been into. 🧍🏻‍♀️
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Since I did that ask game a few weeks ago, the Inquisitor Ahsoka/Rex starting a clone rebellion/post TCW AU has been on my mind. But I know that, realistically speaking, I'm unlikely to ever be invested enough to actually sit down and write it.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I'm trying to make a point to read more fiction and while it's possible that the few books I've read thus far lately just haven't been particularly good, it's certainly made me way more confident in my ability to write dialogue that feels like it would be spoken by real live humans and not aliens pretending to be humans. Similar deal with internal monologues. I'm convinced that none of these authors read their work aloud.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Still generally the same—overthinking comma usage, editing while I write and therefore being very slow, going back and forth between being stuck because I didn't plan enough and feeling stifled because I planned too much. Etc etc.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I try to avoid it as much as possible, with the exception being words or phrases that are used a lot in canon.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Still Marvel :(
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Honor Bound is still my baby, but I didn't expect to actually like A Different Kind of Solace as much as I do, mostly because I didn't really go into writing it expecting to hit the emotional notes that it does. Also still Out of the Cold. There are some banger lines there.
Not tagging anyone because this one has gone around a few times recently but if you want to do it, you're welcome to pretend I tagged you. 😌

20 Questions Writer Meme
I was tagged by @skywalking-through-life! This is super fun omg, thank you!!
1. How many works do you have on ao3?
210!
2. What's your total ao3 word count?
1,670,384 words, which feels insane
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently, Percy Jackson! I tend to be pretty one fandom at a time, but in the past I've written for Hamilton, Harry Potter, and Marvel to name a few.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Electing Strange Perfections (1,951)
If You Ask Me For My Fire (1,842)
See The Beast You've Made Of Me (1,769)
On Each Other's Team (1,656)
Come Loaded With The Safety Switched Off (1,604)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! I'm a huge believe in fandom as a community, and fanfiction as an avenue for that community vs just 'content'. I love answering questions and talking about the fics, and I've honestly made some amazing fandom friends in comments on fics. I think commenting is a really valuable part of community-building in fandom, and I think that replying to comments helps with that :)
6. What's the fic you wrote that has the angstiest ending?
I think this is all a matter of perspective, but I definitely have a few that are regarded as angsty even if I don't necessarily see them that way? Picking one, I might have to say See The Beast You've Made of Me.
7. What's the fic you wrote that has the happiest ending?
This is harder to answer lol, a lot of my happier fics are more moments, rather than a having an ending with build-up. But, Love Has A Way To Find Ya (Sneaks Up Right Behind Ya) is the first one that comes to mind!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I have actually been very fortunate in this regard! I've had a few negative comments for sure, but most are more along the lines of "stopping reading here" or just poorly worded. I have several fics I've been more worried about, but locking the fics has seemed to discourage anyone who wants to be senselessly cruel! A lot of what I write isn't to everyone's taste, so some less than perfect comments come with that territory.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I absolutely have lmao. I haven't been in the mood for it recently, but I have my fair share. As for what kind, it depends on the ship and dynamic, and how seriously I'm treating it lol. I've written daddy kink to casual pegging to sweet losses of virginity.
10. Do you write crossovers?
Not really? I have a few ideas that have broached crossover territory, but I don't make a habit or it!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Yes, though not recently. I'm sure there's a lot more out there in all honesty, but I've only stumbled across it once or twice on random websites when I've had the thought to google my username.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! I've been fortunate to have a couple translated, and it's always the most amazing feeling ever.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, I've co-written quite a few! I've done round-robins as well as more formal collabs where both authors are working together and writing together throughout the process. I really enjoy doing them and have written some of my favorite fics with others! They're definitely challenging, but I think I have the benefit of being pretty adaptable.
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
So one thing you need to know about me is that I'm really bad at favorites. I think my favorite canon ship amongst my fandoms would be Percabeth, but my favorite ship for reading fanfiction for would, historically, be Tomarry/Harrymort/whatever you want to call it.
15. What's a wip you want to finish, but don't think you ever will?
I am actively determined to finish the ones first coming to mind, but honestly the one I doubt I'll ever do anything with is the AU lovingly referred to as Percy French Whore lmfao
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think my adaptability is my greatest strength. I definitely have themes and patterns I fall into, but overall I try to keep an open-mind to ships, aus, and more. I've gone back and forth between past and present tense, I've written over 25 ships for PJO alone. There's very little I look at and think I can't write, even if it takes some time to come around to it/make it work for me.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I think my biggest weaknesses have to do with managing a story as a whole. I have these grand ideas, but I struggle to bring them to Completeness. I'll have dreams of showing a realistic development of a character from the one we know and love to something twisted and taken advantage of and miss a few beats, and drop a few characters and plot points along the way. I'm also not the best at worldbuilding. I'm a pretty low-context type of person, and it's highlighted in a fanfction type of environment. I'll get questions about worldbuilding in fics--and they'll be GOOD questions--and I'll sit there with my head tilted at the screen wondering why anyone would think of that 😭
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I like the idea of it, but would definitely need help from a native speaker. I got overly confident with my high school Spanish classes and made an attempt and I will never be doing that again.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Twilight. First fandom I read for, first fandom I posted for. Twilight was how I discovered fanfiction.net and started me down this path.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
This is almost impossible to answer just because there are so many factors at play, but the first two (very, very different fics) coming to mind are both collabs: HAUNT ME, THEN— with @mrthology and The Murder Monologues with @theinevitablesense
I tag @sappho-of-space 💛

Fic Writer's Showcase Game
tagged by @drgrlfriend - thank you!
Rules: Go to your published works on AO3 and list the first fic you ever published there, the last fic you published, any fic that you wrote for a fandom/ship only once, your favorite fic you wrote in the fandom/ship that has the most works, the fic you wish more people read, the fic you agonized over the most, the fic that sprang fully formed from your mind without any effort, and a work you are proud of—for whatever reason. <3
First Fic:
Left Foot Forward (Marvel, Winterhawk, Omegaverse, E) - This was born of me reading first Bucky fics, then Clint fics, then running out of winterhawk fics and going 'I should write some so that other people make more for me to read. Maybe I'll do all the popular tropes.' I was terribly depressed at the time and spent most of my days watching the food network and doing nothing, so this actually saved me in a lot of ways.
Last Fic:
A Losing Game (OFMD, Rotating Ed/Stede/Izzy But NOT Steddyhands, Death Game/Modern AU, E) - I know a lot of people are scared of reading this one because they don't know the series it's inspired by and no matter how much I promise that it doesn't matter, it's still intimidating. But I think it's the bees knees. I need to finish the companion parts, they're some of the best things I've ever written.
One-Hit Fandom:
Bad Habits / Indisposed (Dying Light 2, Aiden/Barney, PWP, Both E) - Technically a two-hit fandom and I'm always tempted to write more, but this is a hilarious instance of a character in a video game being so annoying that I was like. I need that guy OBLITERATED (sexual.)
Favourite Fic In Biggest Ship:
BANG! (Marvel, Winterhawk, Suicide Squad AU, E) - I loved writing this fic. I'm in my element when writing violent, kind of wacky comedy action romances (see ALG above as well) and BANG! was a lot of my favourite things in one. Also a call back to a few villains I loved who aren't as prominent.
Fic I Wish Was Read More:
See above for A Losing Game. I was well aware that it wouldn't have a massive reception; it's inspired by a series that people probably haven't seen, it's 80k, it's not actually Steddyhands. But it's very good. I stand by it.
Fic Most Agonised Over:
under the heel of a devil (Marvel, Ameriwinterhawk, Western AU, E) - Westerns are NOT my thing. Arson set me this challenge and I was like "welp." And went to watch a few westerns so I had some semblance of an idea of what the hell I was meant to do. I think it came out alright in the end, but it drove me nuts.
Zero-Effort Fic:
An Endless Beating Heart (OFMD, Ed/Izzy & Jack/Stede, Zombie AU, E) - Okay this is technically a snippet collection in the same verse and is Very Disjointed, but I love it. It was so easy. Zombie stuff is so cruisy for me.
Pride And Joy Fic:
Off The Mortal Coil (Marvel, Winterhawk & Platonic Bucky/Kate, Zombie AU, E) - Over 160k words. 160k. I have not and will never achieve a fic this long again. It was a labour of love and I still love it dearly.
Tagging: If you haven't done this yet, do it now. You're tagged. Go. And tag me in the post.

Love your fics! Wanted to know your opinion about AXE now that it's finished :>
Oh boy oh boy! Thank you for asking! I loved AXE so much. It was definitely the best story I've ever read about what would happen if your house acquired sentience and hated you and decided to destroy the world.
Seriously, though -- I really loved AXE Judgment Day. I have a half-finished post where I was attempting to summarize the complete event with all the tie-ins and I should probably… finish reading all the tie-ins and finish writing that. I have an AXE Steve/Tony WIP -- the kind of fic that is basically meta disguised as a story where they talk through how they feel about the whole thing -- that is 42,000 words and I am nowhere near done yet. I honestly think it's one of the best line-wide Marvel events in a long time, which is really impressive when you consider that for the most part it's an event about the X-Men and the Eternals and I have almost no fannish interest in the Eternals and I haven't been consistently reading any X books since X Of Swords started.
So why do I like this event so much if it's not even about characters I am currently following? Well, I'm here for Steve/Tony, and I think it's a really good event for Steve and Tony, both as individual characters and for their relationship with each other, and I think the end of the story leaves them each in a really interesting place emotionally, with enough hanging threads that make it interesting to me fannishly.
We've had a few events in the past several years where Steve and Tony were basically on opposite sides -- Infinity (when you consider the fact that Tony has already been secretly betraying Steve), Axis, Time Runs Out/Secret Wars, Civil War II (when you consider the fact that it wasn't actually Steve), Secret Empire. Sometimes these events have prominently featured Steve and/or Tony, but as a Steve/Tony fan most of these weren't satisfying to me on an OTP level because they're not really on good terms. Although, yes, Secret Empire did provide a hell of a lot to think about and also some really interesting material for AUs because it did give us an evil Steve who, uh, canonically loves Tony. You should see my WIP list. But Secret Empire wouldn't make my list of events where Steve and Tony are BFFs, if you get what I mean.
We've had events where they were on the same side but the event wasn't really about them -- War of the Realms, Empyre, King in Black, Devil's Reign. (As far as I can tell, Devil's Reign never actually had the real Tony in it, either, but I will admit to not reading all the tie-ins.) Heroes Reborn was also a thing but didn't ever have Tony even meet Steve, AFAIK. So, I mean, it's nice that they don't hate each other but also they are just a couple characters in a cast of thousands. I think Empyre comes the closest, and I really enjoyed Empyre, but I wouldn't call Steve & Tony the stars of the event.
So AXE is one of the first events in a long time -- maybe since AvX? -- where both Steve and Tony have been friends on the same team with neither of them secretly being evil and where they have had big roles to play in the event itself. Both Steve and Tony have a lot to do in the mainline and Tony has an entire issue about him. Also, though I think it has its flaws, AXE is definitely much kinder to Tony than a lot of the other comics featuring Tony have been in a while. It portrays Tony and Steve as friends and as heroes genuinely trying to do good. And if you're like "isn't that what most superhero comics are like?" then you haven't been reading a lot of Iron Man comics in the past several years, although that is maybe, maybe starting to change.
I also think the setup of AXE is the kind of thing that lends itself to interesting fannish theorizing without being unkind to most of the heroes. I suppose technically it starts out as a hero vs. hero event, depending on who you consider heroes. A faction of Eternals decides that mutants are deviants and decides to wipe them out. The Avengers decide this is a bad idea and they and the remaining Eternals join in on the side of the mutants. Since Eternals have to do what Celestials tell them, the good guys (starring Tony) come up with a plan to reanimate Avengers Mountain (a dead Celestial) and it will become a god to the Eternals again and it'll tell them to knock it off with the mutant-killing. This works. Sort of. Then the Celestial decides it's going to judge the rest of humanity on an individual and a collective basis and everyone has to band together to try to stop it. Steve ends up basically leading humanity in battle and Tony ends up taking point on the strike team trying to bring the Celestial down from the inside. Literally the inside.
So, yes, as a Steve/Tony fan, I enjoy the fact that they're working together. They're friends! They're clearly coming up with plans together and they're concerned about each other and Steve doesn't even blame Tony for being the guy who arguably headed the project that started the mess in the first place.
Tumblr media
Also Steve makes some great rallying speeches.
Tumblr media
(Don't worry, Steve's fine.)
And Tony also makes some great speeches, honestly, just on a smaller scale.
Tumblr media
I feel like the AA references in there are very in-character for Tony.
It's been my experience that fandom tends to really enjoy events that let them sort characters based on their beliefs and powers -- who would win in a fight? Who would support Registration? And this gets you that, and they don't even have to fight each other. Because what a lot of the tie-ins are about is "who passes, who fails, and why?" and so, without even pitting your faves against each other, you get to do the same kind of theorizing. And because Steve and Tony are major characters, we get to see both of their judgments, and we get a lot about Tony's.
And it's really cool, I think, because it absolutely does not go the way you think it would go. It does not go the way they think it will go. Because Steve is one of the very first to fail -- and Tony is at his side, wondering who possibly has a chance to pass if Steve fails. So Steve basically spends the whole rest of the event clearly feeling like a massive failure and trying to pull himself together for the rest of humanity. I have feelings about this.
Tumblr media
And Tony, in a move that surprises everyone including himself, passes. There is a whole issue devoted to this and I really like it except for a couple of points I will detail below and also the fact that it requires us to acknowledge that Cantwell's run happened, which is a thing I was really trying to not do. Anyway, it has a great callback to The Confession.
Tumblr media
Tony just doesn't want to let Steve down.
The whole thing is interesting. It gives you a lot to think about. They're clearly still both unsettled about this by the end of the event, and then Tony asks Steve to go hot-tubbing with him, which. You know. There's potential there. I and my massive WIP clearly think there's potential there.
Tumblr media
So that's a lot of fun. At least, I think so.
This event has a downside for me, which is that it has a Did Not Do The Research problem. I think this is most apparent in AXE Avengers, the issue all about Tony, which includes such odd developments as "Tony agrees with the assertion that he likes to date people who are parental figures with strong moral compasses" (I have literally no idea where this is coming from, as I would have said that he likes to date people to try to kill him) and "the Celestial, in the form of Howard, tells Tony that they wanted him so badly but then he wasn't a great father to Tony." I feel like "we wanted you so badly" is an interesting way of describing "we adopted you solely because we needed a decoy son to save the life of our biological son." If this had been by any other writer, I would have said, oh, well, I guess they just didn't read the adoption arc. This is by Kieron Gillen. You know, the guy who wrote the adoption arc.
Tumblr media
There are a couple of other places in the event itself where the plot doesn't match up to itself across comics, which you would probably expect in tie-ins except… these were all also by Kieron Gillen. So after Steve dies and is reborn from an egg, naked, in the Avengers Mansion kitchen (don't worry about it), he either has enough time to get dressed and talk to Tony before the strike team heads out (if you believe Death To The Mutants) or Tony is already on-mission when Steve hatches (if you believe the mainline). These are, again, both by the same writer.
Anyway, if you believe the version where Steve gets to wish Tony well, it's very sweet:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is also one further instance where Not Doing The Research isn't a problem, per se, but there was one canonical reference that AXE Avengers could have made, that the entire issue was leading me to think that it was going to make, and then it got there and it didn't, presumably because Gillen didn't know it, and I was so confused because it would have made the issue so much stronger.
So the culmination of AXE Avengers features the Celestial reenacting Tony's parents' car accident, which the Celestial is using as an analogy for the disaster the world is currently going through, and asks Tony what Tony will do. Tony immediately heads to the car and starts trying to repair it and explains that it may not make a difference, but he has to try, and if he works hard enough, no one has to die in a car crash.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's a nice moment. It's very Tony. It's very touching. It seems like a philosophy he would espouse. It is also an established canon fact that is thirty years old.
In Iron Man #288, we learn that the first thing Tony did after his parents' death was find out what the cause of the crash was (a flaw in the brake design). Then he spent forty hours redesigning the brakes in that car model, bought the car company, and implemented his new, improved brake design. So no one else was ever going to die in a crash like that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So that thing he says in AXE Avengers that he would do, hypothetically, about fixing the car so no one else would die? He did it. It wasn't hypothetical. He actually 100% did that exact thing, in canon, when faced with this exact situation. So you can kind of see why I was expecting the AXE Avengers issue to refer to this, because I figured this was him describing the thing that he did. It would have been the perfect thing for him to mention. I just assumed that was what was going on here and we were leading up to that.
The issue does not refer to this fact, at all.
I don't know, I just thought it was a bizarre omission. I guess no one involved with this issue knew enough to mention it.
Also I feel like if I were the Avengers I personally would not want to move right back into living in the dead Celestial corpse as soon as it died and the fighting was over. They cannot be hurting that badly for real estate. I'm just saying.
But overall? Yeah, great event. I loved AXE Judgment Day. Give me ten more just like it.

One Punch Man, Marvel. Formerly BTVS.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
" - 2,391 kudos "Natural" - 2,448 kudos "5+7" - 3,341 kudos "Milkyway" - 4,601 kudos "Salvaged" - 6,567
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Oh yes! But i have a habit that tends to backfire on me... I'll respond to all comments for a while and then after a couple weeks I'll stop responding because I want to finish a chapter first.... this is fine except sometimes by the time I let myself respond to all those old comments it's been like.... 5 years. LOL. But I really do like to reply to every single one.
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
The Distance Between Us
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Sugar & Spice
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Lmfao. Surprisingly rarely! I've maybe gotten two actual hate comments on my more spicy account. I've gotten more hate comments for making Saitama transmasc, but not by much. But like... I didn't make him transmasc anyway, it just happened. But yeah if people are whiny little bitches and I just roast them and then delete their comment because that doesn't fly for me, especially the transphobic weirdos.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Hell yeah. Ummm I like it when the weiners touch 👉👈
Actually lemme see. On my main account, my top tags are kind of all over the place. Mainly fluffy stuff, dirty talk. On my secret second account we'll get better results.... Watersports/Urination - obviously. Anal sex - duh, but boring. Dubious consent - spicy. Felching - MM. 🙏 Male lactation - MILK. HIM. 💦
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Only "Now Recruiting", which still gets a lot of love tbh. It's about the Avengers trying to recruit Saitama, which isn't too crazy. Fun though!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
WOOF. I hope not. The sites that scrape fics are scary.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Oh yeah 💜 I love my international fans, and I always say yes when someone asks to translate. I just ask that they remember to link up with mine!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
My memory is bad but I really don't think so. I don't play well with others >.< Also why I have turned down RP requests every time.
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Wade/Nate. It might have hibernated for years, but it came back with a vengeance when it came back. But any ship I've written for, it's gotta be a hyperfixation for me, so I promise I love them all.
15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
[Redacted]. But I'm not sure it's that I never will - it's that I think I overshot my ending and I actually need to hack it back a little and just end the fic. The way I kept going, it would've added another small arc to the fic that made it end on a sad note. And That, I'd probably never finish. The fic is old enough though that even thinking about opening it up to do that makes me cringe.
Secondary: Salvaged. But don't panic! It's not that I'll never finish it, it's that I will but still not any time soon. ;; It'll be a lot of work to open it up again and finish it. I wanna finish some other projects first, including new ones (oops). But I don't feel 'cringe' about opening it again. Just a loooottt of files to sift through.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I'm told my dialogue is amazing. I think it's because I enjoy practicing the lines, over and over again, and pacing everything out to make sure it sounds like something the character would actually say, and somewhat flow in real time.
I'm also quite lucky at being able to have details fall into place in really interesting ways. So that thing that seems elaborately planned out, who knows, lol. It's sort of half elaborately planned and half happy coincidence.
People also tell me that I manage to capture their imagination and especially their emotions. 🫶
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Finishing. Haha. I'll either catch stage fright if something gets really popular (especially if there's a sex scene, oop) or I'll get bogged down with things needing to be perfect, or a secret third thing - I get really attached and don't want to end the AU because then I worry I'll forget it exists.
Memory problems. Returning to a fic is harder because even after a month I don't remember what happened. And if I'm going without writing for any period of time I feel like I forget who I am as a writer completely. Sometimes I really can't understand who wrote a fic of mine, because it doesn't feel like it was me.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Ummmmm I do this very sparingly because I know that google translate is very flawed and I'm not fluent in any other language. Sometimes a little bit of french or spanish has been appropriate for a Deadpool fic, but not full dialogue.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Buffy The Vampire Slayer <3 I didn't include that in my fic count tho.... I don't dare go back to That Place, even just to look (FF.net)
20. Favorite fic you've written?
I'm gonna have to break it up by ship otherwise this ain't even fair--
"Hello, Handsome" - Cablepool - it's just soooo creative and fun! and COMPLETE! "5+7" - Genosai - another really fun one, emotional ups and downs but ultimately soooo fluffy and nice and one of those fics that changed my life. Almost done! "Yours" - Skirth/Agony - a rare f/f pairing but I really enjoyed writing them <333 COMPLETE "Milkyway" - Eddie/Symbiote - can something be a fluffy family fic AND really dirty filthy kinky at the same time? Apparently, somehow. COMPLETE.

fic writer interview.
found this in the tags while I was browsing & thought it could be a fun way to end 2022! i am not tagging anyone, but if you'd like to fill it out, then feel free to copy + paste it to a new post!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Eleven, soon to be twelve!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
113,915
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Marvel (The Avengers, Moon Knight), Star Wars (The Mandalorian, Andor), The Last of Us, The Bubble, and Stranger Things
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Point A to Point B (493)
Where Shadows Meet Spaces (356)
Meet Me at the Usual (277)
A First for Breathing (226)
Meet Me On the Other Side (118)
5. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Every single one, no matter how long or how short! Reblogs on tumblr and replies/comments under the posts are literally my life source to keep me going through the day. I try to make sure I don't miss a single response if I can help it.
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
It isn't finished yet, but I have the finale outlined for Famous Last Words as I only have two more parts to go. (That I intend to finish some day I promise!) Same Old Mistakes will have the angstiest ending out of all of my fics.
7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
I do not. I totally could one day, though. Just has to have the right mood.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
No! Luckily I am fortunate enough to say that I have been given only constructive criticism to my fics, which is not equivalent to hate.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do! I actually really get nervous about writing smut. Like it'll take me eons to write smut chapters versus normal chapters because they're the pieces of writing I'm most self conscious about. (Even if... nearly all of my works constitute as smut-based fics.) I primarily write f/m smut just because... well, it just happens that way? And I write smut for me, so I don't primarily write things that I don't find hot. Because fic-writing it's about self-indulging, baybeeee.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No! Not that I am aware of, anyway. Hopefully not, because stealing fics is lame.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I'm aware of, no.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I'm actually more well-versed in roleplay writing than I am with fanfics, so I want to say... yes? Because I've written collaborative stories with friends that I've just never published to the public, but it's a long-winded way of say yes and also no.
13. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
I don't know if I have one? I write mainly reader insert because I would be writing original character x canon fic, but they don't typically sell well, so I adopted 2nd person writing to get with the times.
In terms of readership, I loved Buffy/Spike from BtVS as a kid, Garrus x Sheppard from Mass Effect 3, Zutara from ATLA, Jack & Elizabeth from POTC, Obidala, Dramione, Reylo... I'm typically a big proponent of enemies to lovers, if that hasn't been obvious yet, lol.
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I have a Succession fanfiction that is extremely dark and 'dead dove don't eat' territory that I've had sitting in my google docs for over a year now. I think it's some of my best writing, but I know that it's extremely taboo and very much not safe for work, so I struggle with posting it despite how I go back to read it all the time lol. I write a really good Kendall Roy, guys!
15. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue. I went to school and have a degree in pre-production motion picture and television writing, so screenwriting is my niche little hobby that I wanted to turn into a career and never did. That being said, I think that I can really pick up on dialect of characters and actors very well in order to translate them into original pieces / fanfiction, so I think most of my strengths lie within my verbal writing.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Description. I absolutely loathe writing long paragraphs and descriptors and tend to gloss over when others write very long paragraph writing. My attention span just cannot handle non-quippy and whippy writing, and that goes for myself as well. I'd rather just write the dialogue and the drama going on between interpersonal relationships, and tend to struggle with setting up locations and atmospheres in a broader, descriptive sense vs. abstract.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I don't do it because I would have to use Google Translator and that's a total gamble, but I admire those who can and do fluently. I can read Spanish, but I cannot write it. The closest we get is me writing Din speaking in Mando'a and quite honestly I do not know if those translations are even real / up to Wookiepedia code lol.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Y'all are going to lose. your. shit over this.
Jimmy Neutron. I was nine years old. A 12-part story I still say is my best work 😂
19. What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
Point A to Point B will likely be my favorite. I have put so much of my heart and soul in that storytelling and world crafting that I'd be remiss to suggest anything else.

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💖
Oh my! Thank you <3
It's honestly a little difficult to pick, but I think I have to go with:
1. Hyperborean - The Losers (Cougar/Jensen, 127 000 words)
Will forever be a favourite since it was the first novel-length AU I wrote where I just let my imagination and world-building run WILD. I just had so much fun with the world I created, the various details, the lore, the social structures etc. It was also challenging to write (in a good way) and managed to include some twists for the reader ;) If I ever were to file the serial numbers off a fic and try to publish it as an original novel, it would be this one. Because, well, this kind of made me realise that, yeah, I CAN write a book if I want to — and I can make it dramatic and epic and wonderful. I’m actually capable of that. Yay me!
2. Autonomy - Marvel (Bucky/Tony, 184 000 words)
I guess I can’t NOT mention Autonomy? Just like Hyperborean, I went crazy with the world-building and had so much fun exploring the HYDRA virus vs. the Rebirth Serum, Tony’s backstory, and just... everything. It was my first for the ship and I remember being SO nervous about the characterisation, but I’ve been told it’s pretty solid, so thank god for that x’D This was also the fic that more or less introduced Winter to the Winteriron fandom (and he has, since then, become a fanon staple, to the point where not many even know this was his origin) and I guess I can feel a little proud over that?
3. Allies - The Hobbit (Bard/Thranduil, 20 000 words)
I am so ridiculously attached to this fic it’s kind of funny, since no one really cares about it? Except me, I guess (and my wife, but she’s partial). I LOVE this one since this fic, more than any other I’ve written, is where I managed to hit JUST the right tone and pitch. This sounds and feels EXACTLY the way I want it to and I had a lot of fun with the more old-fashioned, fantasy-ish style. Also,Thranduil’s POV is, hands down, one of my favourite POV’s I’ve EVER written. I had an absolute blast and some of my absolute favourite lines I’ve ever written are in this fic.
4. Who Holds the Devil - The Devil Judge (Ga On/Yo Han, so far 142 000 words)
Not finished yet, but already a favourite. Possibly one of the best things I've ever written? Not in terms of pacing, perhaps (since it's hella long already and nowhere near done) but because of the way I get to really pick these characters apart and explore their behaviour and emotions. There are so many nuances, details, and facets and it’s just SO fascinating. Also, I feel like I get to be more experimental with my word choices and sentence structures thanks to all the dreams, which is an absolute delight. I’m just really enjoying this one since it feels like I’m growing and learning a lot. Also, it’s very satisfying to write such complex and fascinating characters. Will, without a doubt, beat my current record for The Slowest Burn Ever to Burn a.k.a. “It took them HOW long before they kissed?!” (see below).
5. The Thunder Moon Chronicles - Teen Wolf (Derek/Stiles, 292 000 words)
The first. The one that started it all. While the writing isn’t on par with what I can do today, this was still the start of something so much greater than I could ever have imagined. I’d promised myself I had to write at least one fanfic before I died and decided I might as well go big or go home. So I wrote a third season for Teen Wolf which ended up being almost 300k. Yeah. My first fanfic was 300k. And it’s not even one of those “let’s write and see what happens” fics. Oh no. This is a tightly planned epic with three parts, each with their own dramatic curve that together form a cohesive story, with a burn so slow it took Stiles and Derek 200k to kiss. To this day, I still can’t understand how I managed to pull that off. My guess is blissful ignorance. I just didn’t understand how easy it would have been to crash and burn and just embraced my own eagerness and enthusiasm. And that is why this fic will forever be a favourite. The sheer and utter JOY it brought me as I wrote it and the doors it ended up opening for me later on.
---
I swear I didn't intentionally pick from five different fandoms, it just happened x'D And I know this looks like I’m just choosing my longest fics, but that wasn’t intentional, either. I guess it’s just easier for me to feel proud over the long ones? Since I got to really show off my skills, both in terms of writing and storytelling, but also world-building, characterisation, and my ability to convey emotions etc. SO YEAH.
Also, fun fact: the reason why I figured I would only write one fanfic was because I assumed I wasn’t a very good writer and no one would want to read them anyway. And I don’t mean that in a “without readers, it wouldn’t have been worth it” way. I just assumed that once I had written one, I could cross that off my bucket list and move on with my life. So, uh, that backfired. SPECTACULARLY x’D
And, before any of you start to worry: I know I’m not a bad writer. It took me YEARS to accept and there are times when I still can’t quite grasp what it means — since I don’t know what I’m doing that might qualify me as a Good Writer — but enough people have told me that I am that I can’t just ignore them.
But, also, most importantly: I enjoy doing it. I truly LOVE writing. So that, more than anything, is why I’m still sticking around ;)

Writing Questions Tag
Tagged by @emptyflowerpots; thanks~
1: what is your absolute all-time favorite idea you’ve ever had?
I guess it might be the Love and Flowers series. An MCU multi-chapter, choose your own character ending story that I did for Valentines Day a few years ago.
I loved the idea and I was glad I actually did it, and people seemed to really enjoy it.
Another one would be my Soulmate AU series, which currently has 11 parts.
2: what is your favorite part of being a writer? which parts could you take or leave?
I love when people experience happiness, joy, or even sadness through my writing, as it tells me that I was writing enough to make someone feel. I absolutely love when I am reading something and it's written in such a way that I feel the emotions being portrayed in the story. So knowing I can do that as well makes me want to keep writing.
Otherwise, the unwanted "feedback" by some people who are just insulting your writing rather than actually providing feedback. I can definitely live without that, though luckily, I do not experience that that often.
3: what is your greatest motivation to write/create?
Maladaptive daydreams about things I will never experience so I might as well write them lol
Also people enjoying my writing and it bringing them some form of joy or comfort makes me want to keep writing more.
4: what is your favorite story you’ve written to completion? link it if you’d like and can!
I haven't written many multi-chapter stories (that I've finished lol). But maybe my nine part Bridgerton story 'Hearts Divided'
Or also the Love and Flowers series I linked at the beginning of this.
5: what is your favorite out-of-the-box quote?
I'm not quite sure what this means lol does it mean a quote from something I've written?
Because one of my favorite dialogue's I've written is from an unfinished Star Trek story I wrote.
'No matter, how many times you tear me down, no matter how many times you tear me apart and put me back together, no matter how many parts of me you take away, my hope, my voice, my home, family, my friends. The one thing you will never, ever take away is my humanity. I will never stop being human, and I will never, ever, stop fighting you!'
6: which of your characters would you say has the most controversial mindset? why do you say so and how do you personally feel about their ideals?
I don't write for many controversial characters, but I guess maybe Zemo from Marvel/fatws. I do not agree with a lot of the things he did, but I love his character so much at the same time lol.
Other than him, maybe Jim Moriarty from Sherlock BBC?
7: if you, when you first started writing, met you now, what would younger you think?
Not much lol. I'd probably be proud of my evolution in writing style and I'd be shocked at how many followers I managed to gain. but otherwise there wouldn't be much 'thought' lol.
xx

20 Questions For Fic Writers
I was tagged by @quordleona03 — and if you want to do this, consider yourself tagged <3
How many works do you have on Ao3?
18.
What's your total Ao3 word count?
42,906
What fandoms do you write for?
Pretty much whatever strikes my fancy, but I've written for Marvel, Good Omens, Les Mis, Supernatural, Star Trek, Sherlock Holmes, Ted Lasso, Harry Potter, and Check Please. Not counting my orphaned fics (which are primarily SPN fics as I recall).
What are your top five fics by kudos?
"air is still" (james bond, 00Q), "ride the dragon's wing" (stranger things, steddie mystery spot fic), "building on the ground that's been won" (ted lasso, jamie and simon character study), "the sound of it" (good omens, my first az/crowley fic), "reflections and reverberations" (marvel, sam/bucky), "sing what the voice cannot" (marvel, sam/bucky)
Do you respond to comments?
I try to respond to comments as much as possible, although I tend to drop off after a little while because I just forget to reply lmao. But I love getting comments!!!
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably either "it is silver, it is a coin (that one is the moon)" where I just write about Remus Lupin being miserable and lonely and then dying, or "a whisper system" which is set just before the now non-canon Section 31 novels for Julian Bashir which end ... badly, for him.
What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Oh probably "ride the dragon's wing" which ends very happily and hopefully, or "story received, story included", which ends with a little less closure but still very optimistically and hopefully.
Do you get hate on fics?
I think I have in the past but I usually just delete the comments so I've immediately forgotten whatever it might've been about.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I don't tend to write PWP for Publication at least, but a couple of my fics have had sex in them as part of the broader fic story!
Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I don't tend to write crossovers!
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don't think so!
Have you ever had a fic translated?
I think so? I've had requests for translation but I'm not sure they've ever gone ahead.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I think I co-wrote a couple of fics back in the ffnet / LJ days and I have Tumblr RP'ed which I think counts as well. But nothing on AO3.
What’s your all time favorite ship?
I would kill and die for Holmes/Watson at any given moment but Garak/Bashir is coming in at a strong second. And Aziraphale/Crowley is probably a sneaky third just for its longevity.
What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I'm currently writing an unbelievably long Good Omens "season 3" but I don't think I'll even ever publish any of it. I also would love to take up my vampire!Grantaire fic again because I'd done so much worldbuilding for it, but I just lost the energy to keep it going.
What are your writing strengths?
Oneshots. I like to think I can also capture the 'voice' of a character pretty well.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I really struggle with writing a lot of dialogue in a way that doesn't just feel like I'm writing a script or just repeatedly going "he said, she said—"
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
If I know the language enough to do it or know exactly what the phrase is, then I'd do it and footnote the translation. Otherwise, though, I'd just note it in the description — I'm not about to mangle someone else's language with Google Translate when I could just note it in another way.
First fandom you wrote for?
On AO3, it's Good Omens. But it's probably actually like CSI or Harry Potter or something.
1. Favorite fic you’ve written?
I'm proudest of "ride the dragon's wing" because it's Baby's First Completed Multichapter, but I also love "story received, story included" and "building on the ground that's been won".

Tagged by the very lovely @xxhellfirebunnyxx to answer the 20 questions for fic writers. Thank you for the tag, Darling!!
1) How many works do you have on AO3? - compared to on here, not very many. I do occasionally post on AO3, but once I started posting on here instead, I found the engagement much better. That being said I have 28 works on AO3 (as well as 4 fics I've orphaned in favour of anonymity because they're just too kinky)
2) What’s your total AO3 word count?- Altogether, everything is 60,613 words.
3) What fandoms do you write for? - Mostly Stranger Things, but occasionally Marvel too (but mostly only Steve and Bucky)
4) What are your top five fics by kudos? - Well on AO3 it's More Than Enough, Not So Freaky After All, The Sweetness of You, Stevie's Baby Fever and Do Ya Wanna Taste It? but on here I think it's probably something completely different.
5) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? - Yes!!! I love responding to comments!!
6) What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I honestly don't think I've ever written anything with an angsty ending. I like writing happy endings where everything gets resolved :)
7) What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I think the happiest ending I wrote was for Apartment Apparitions, which is a personal favourite of mine.
8) Do you get hate on fics? Thankfully no, at least not yet anyway. I think I stay in my own lane too much for anyone to come for me.
9) Do you write smut? If so, what kinds? - YES!! I've written some of the most toe-curling smut ever tbh. I'm actually more comfortable writing smut over fluff to be honest
10) Do you write crossovers? - I've not written any crossovers yet, but I'm not ruling it out at all, I just haven't found anything that sparks inspiration.
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen? - Not that i'm aware of, I don't think my work is good enough to get stolen lmaooo
12) Have you ever had a fic translated? - I don't think so?
13) Have you ever co-written a fic before? I kind of co-wrote a thread about cowboy!Eddie with @munsonology which is kinda cute, but I'm also planning some to write christmas fun with @slutty-thevampireslayer this year so watch out for that 👀
14) What’s your all time favorite ship? I don't typically write for ships, but 10/Rose has a very special place in my heart, and has done ever since I was very young.
15) What’s a WIP that you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? - I don't think there is anything that I've started but have not finished, I don't like leaving things unfinished.
16) What are your writing strengths? I like to think I'm pretty competent writing smut, I suppose?
17) What are your writing weaknesses? Oh! Writing fluff for sure, it does not come easily to me AT ALL. I feel like i'm always straddling the line between "is this cute?" and "this is stupid and out of character."
18) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? - It's not something I tend to do, because I pretty much only speak English. I know the tiniest amount of Welsh, but not enough to be writing stories in it,
19) First fandom you wrote for? Marvel, because at my core I am a slut for Bucky Barnes :)
20) Favorite fic you’ve written? If we're talking about fluff, then I have quite the soft spot for From Me to You. However, if we're talking about smut, I am quietly proud of Flying Solo and Creatures of The Night

only when you're high - rafe cameron
Tumblr media
word count: 4.3k
summary: Rafe only ever talks to you when he's high, and you've eventually had enough.
warnings: angst i guess, language, mentions of drugs and alcohol, lil makeout sesh at the end
note: ik this isn't the request but i've been working on this for a while so here ya go <3 this is def not my best writing so dont judge it too harshly
3:53 a.m.
You had been dreaming about your cat taking over a world full of people with fish heads when the incessant ringing from your phone jolted you awake. You blindly flung your hand onto the nightstand, knocking over a half empty water bottle and a bottle of ibuprofen before your fingers grazed the cool screen. You picked up the device, nearly blinding yourself when you opened your eyes to see who was calling you at such an ungodly hour. Once your eyes adjusted to the screen’s brightness, the name ‘Stupid Kook’ was displayed across the top. You hesitantly swiped to answer.
“What in the flying fuck do you want,” You whisper yelled, propping your half-conscious body up with your elbow.
“Hey, baby,” He greeted, his voice dragging as if he was thinking too hard about his words. “Just wanted to hear your voice.”
You stopped breathing for a moment, not sure what you were supposed to say to his weird revelation. You had been having a weird thing with Rafe for a few months now. After many drinks, you would often finding yourself making out with him in a secluded area. Despite your random make out sessions, he had never once called you to simply hear your voice. In fact, he hadn’t even called you before. It was usually always a quick ‘wyd’ text at midnight and nothing more.
“That’s weird, you’ve never called me before,” You pointed out, “You’ve also never called me baby before, so what’s that about?”
“Mm, I don’t know. Always wanted to call you that before so why not? What are you up to, baby,” He asked, his words slurring together in a way that could only happen while under the influence.
“You’re high aren’t you,” You sighed. Of course, he was high. You should have known that from the get-go. Rafe Cameron wouldn’t have called you sober; he never even looked at you sober.
A brief silence hung over the line, Rafe’s heavy breathing being the only thing coming through the receiver. “Maybe a little. Had a rough day, so I went to see Barry and now I’m at Topper’s. Talking to you.”
You couldn’t help but let a small smile grace your features; a smile that was gone almost as soon as it came. You let your elbow fall from its position, your head falling back onto the pillow that was still warm from when you were asleep. “How sweet of you. What are you doing, anyways? Shouldn’t you be getting shitfaced and taking some innocent girl to bed?”
He let out an airy laugh before speaking. “The only one I’d like to take to bed is you, and we somehow always stop before it gets to that point. Anyways, it’s just me, Topper, and Kelce, and I started thinking about us in the back of my truck when we were outside. Before I knew what I was doing, you answered the phone.”
Your cheeks flared red as images of Rafe’s hands exploring your body flashed through your mind, the feeling of his ring on your skin igniting something inside of you. His mouth latching onto the sensitive spots of your neck as your moans filled his truck. You let your fingers ghost over your lips as if you could still feel his own on yours. More memories of him exploring your body in every way but the way you wanted him most were running through your mind. Every time you wanted to give in to him, give in to your urges, but you couldn’t.
“You know, I’ve never wanted someone as much as I want you and I hate it,” He started, his words still slow, “I hate it because you’ll never let me have you.”
“Rafe,” You groaned, running a hand over your tired face, “I don’t really feel like giving myself to someone who only talks to me when they’re drunk or high. Someone who would rather be caught dead than with a pouge.”
“You know it’s not like that, baby. It’s complicated,” He tried, and you could tell there was a hint of unfamiliar panic in his voice.
“It always is. Guess I’ll see or talk to you next time you get fucked up. Goodnight Rafe,” You whispered before hanging up on the boy, ignoring his desperate protests.
1:38 a.m.
You turned the shower water off before stepping out onto the cool tiled floor, water dripping from every part of your body. You chose to ignore the buzzing coming from your phone, moving to grab the towel hung on the back of your bathroom door. However, the buzzing started again as you were drying off your legs.
“Who the fuck,” You groaned as you wrapped the towel around your still wet body. ‘Stupid Kook’ was making a second appearance, much to your surprise. “Yes, Rafe?”
“What’s up your ass,” He laughed his infectious laugh. You could picture him throwing his head back and his glazed over eyes twinkling with amusement, something you had only seen when you found yourself admiring him from afar.
“Nothings up my ass. Just don’t know what your high ass wants this time.” You gripped your phone in your hand and started to walk back towards your room. Your parents had fallen asleep hours ago, so you had to make sure you were quiet. However, that deemed difficult in the darkest hours of the night in your already poorly lit house. You bumped your hip and stubbed your toe on just about anything that was out in the open. Once you were in your room, you hastily shut the door and flipped the light switch on.
“Hello! Hello! Hello! Where are you,” Rafe yelled, making you wince and pull the phone away from your ear.
“Jesus, dude. Calm down, I was walking back to my room,” You chastised, doing your best to hold your phone in between your ear and shoulder.
“What were you doing? I missed you,” He pouted.
You ignored the swelling you got in your heart and said, “I was leaving the bathroom. I just finished showering. What are you doing?”
You grabbed a clean pair of underwear and a shirt you had taken from JJ after you had thrown up over whatever you were wearing that night. Rafe began telling you what he was doing, which was quite literally nothing. However, he quickly dove into a spout of how you were naked and wet and how badly he wanted to see you without any clothes on. Your cheeks were burning as he went on and on about all of the sinful things he wanted to do to you. You let him ramble on a bit more as you turned the light off once you were clothed and ready for bed.
“Okay, that’s enough, Rafe,” You stopped him, pulling your blanket back so you could crawl in bed. “So, calling me two times within a week? You falling in love with me?”
It was so painfully obvious that it was a joke, but you could practically feel the tension radiating through your phone from Rafe’s end. His abrupt silence concerned you because this boy was far from silent when he was doped out.
“Maybe I am,” He finally got out, and you couldn’t detect any sarcasm in it.
“Sure you are,” You rolled your eyes, blaming exhaustion for briefly clouding your judgment, “If you were in love with me, you’d actually talk to me when you aren’t too fucked to remember your own name.”
You started picking at a loose thread on your blanket as you let your mind wander to what life would be life if you had an actual relationship with Rafe. Going to parties with him. Hanging around the Island Club with him and his friends. Him doing lines off your body before having his way with you.
“I will talk to you when I’m not high,” His voice broke you from your thoughts, “If that’s what you really want.”
“I do,” You said way too quickly, “I mean, yeah sure. That would be nice, I guess.”
“Just text me and I’ll answer.” You couldn’t stifle the yawn that escaped your lips, but you did try and hide it from Rafe. Your attempt was no good, though. “You’re tired, go to bed.”
“No, I’m fi-.”
“Goodnight, Y/N,” Rafe shouted over you, “Talk to you soon, baby.”
Rafe’s name popped up on your phone screen every few days after he had gotten drunk out of his mind or too high to do anything other than find your contact. You didn’t mind it at first, but after you had texted him during the day and those messages went unanswered, you grew hurt and annoyed. You had tried asking him why he wouldn’t respond, but he always found a way to change the subject. You wanted to ask him about it in person, but you hadn’t seen him in almost a month. You wanted to ask him why he couldn’t bother to pick up the phone when he was sober, but wasted no time in calling you as soon as he got his bump in.
One of the nights he called, you offered to have him come over because your parents were gone, but he said no. Made up some excuse about how he was staying with Topper for a while since Sarah cheated on him and he wanted to be there for his friend. You understood that, so you didn’t push him after that. Then, the next time you told him about a party everyone was going to and how you wanted to see him there. You even told him to bring the other two. That time he told you he was staying away from parties for a while, wanting to stay to himself for the most part due to the constant stress from his dad. You knew how Ward could be sometimes, so it wasn’t hard to believe him and move on from there.
You wanted to be mad to him for only acknowledging you when he was high, but you couldn’t be. You’ve always wanted to feel wanted by somebody, and he made you feel like that albeit only when he was far gone from reality. You could deal with it as long as you got to talk to him, no matter how insecure it made you. Well, you thought you could.
2:25
Your parents were gone for the night, so you opted to watch Marvel movies in the living room. You were so invested in watching Iron Man and shoving popcorn in your mouth that you didn’t feel your phone go off the first six times. Or the fifteen times after that. Not that you would have cared either way. You knew the only person it could be was the boy who never wanted you sober. The credits began rolling across the TV, so you finally decided to pick up your discarded phone. You were shocked to see Rafe had called you eight times and texted you thirteen. Overall, his texts said the same thing.
Why aren’t u answering me :(
Call me pls
I wanna talk to you baby
It was if he knew you were finally looking at your phone because his contact popped up not ten seconds later. You rolled your eyes, but reluctantly answered.
“Y/N! Where have you been,” He whined into the receiver, “I’ve been trying to call you for like two hours.”
“Watching movies,” Your words were sharp and short, not particularly wanting to talk to him right now. You’ve nearly reached your breaking point with him.
Rafe could immediately tell something was off with you by the way you sounded. “What’s wrong, baby? Are you okay?”
You took a deep breath in, setting your bowl of popcorn on the coffee table after you paused the end credit scene. You leaned forwards and planted your elbow on your knee as you held your head in annoyance.
“I’m fine, Rafe. I’m just getting fed up with you only wanting to talk to me when you’re high or drunk,” You started, “I used to be fine with it because it once every couple of weeks, but now it’s almost every day and it’s annoying. You told me to text you when you’re sober, and I did, but you never responded. I try and offer to come over to you or have you come to me, but you always have an excuse. I know you want to be there for Topper and you don’t really want to be around anyone right now, but that doesn’t mean I have to put up with it.”
“Y/N, I know, and I’m sorry. It’s just-It’s complicated. Please understand that,” He was practically begging you to listen to him.
“Rafey, are you coming back to play beer pong with us,” A female voice suddenly cut through the sudden sound of music.
Your breathing stopped and your heart felt like it was being squeezed by Rafe’s own hand. A wave of heartbreak crashed over your entire body. “‘I just don’t want to be around anyone’ huh? Thought you were just spending time with Topper for a while? You know, if you didn’t want to see me, all you had to do was say so,” You whimpered, hurt now mixing with your anger and annoyance.
“No, wait,” He tried, yelling at whoever came in the room to get out, “Y/N, please. It isn’t lik-“
“Don’t you dare finish that sentence. It is like that, Rafe. It is exactly like that. You don’t want to see me, and that is fine. I get it. Why would you ever want to be seen with someone from the Cut? It doesn’t matter, though. Don’t call me anymore. You lied to me. That is not something that I can forgive,” Your tears were too strong to hold back now, “I don’t care for liars, Rafe Cameron, and you’re the biggest one of all.”
You quickly hung up and turned off your phone, throwing it towards the end of the couch so you weren’t tempted to grab it. You grabbed the large blanket from the back of the couch, picked another movie, and let your tears fall as it played in front of you.
“Honey,” Your moms gentle voice broke through, “You fell asleep on the couch.”
You slowly opened your eyes, letting them adjust to the bright light shining through the giant window. The headache hit you like a ton of brinks, causing you to squeeze your eyes shut in pain. Your mom was hovering over you, her hand on your shoulder and her soft eyes pretending to not notice how puffy your cheeks and red your eyes are.
“I guess so,” You mumbled, pushing yourself up into a sitting position, “I’ll go lay down in my room. I’m still tired.”
She gave you an understanding nod with a caring smile and helped you off the couch. Her hand lingered on your back as if she wanted to say something to you, but she decided to leave it alone for now. You would talk to her when you were ready, if you ever were. You gave her a thumbs up when she told you her and your father would be out again most of the day.
Your feet dragged as you stumbled back to your room, using the wall to keep you steady. You pushed the door open with your foot and gave your cat, who was laying on your bed as if she owned it, a stupid smile. You fell onto the bed and pulled her onto your chest as you turned your phone back on. You were scared to confront the actions from last night, but knowing Rafe, he probably wouldn’t have bothered to even send you a text about it. You were quickly proven wrong the moment your phone turned back on. The vibration from all of the texts, voicemails, and snapchats felt like it lasted for five straight minutes. Nearly all were from the boy you wanted nothing to do with. Although, you noticed a voicemail from Topper, who you forgot even had your number.
Um, hey its Topper. Look dude, I don’t know what happened, but Rafe is freaking out like a bitch right now. He keeps mumbling shit about how he fucked things up with, which I didn’t even know you two were a thing but whatever I don’t really care. He kicked everyone out of my house and has been calling and texting you for like thirty minutes straight now so please call him back, so he shuts the fuck up. If not for him, do it for my sanity before I kill him. Uh, yeah, thanks, bye.
You sighed deeply after the voicemail cut off, your heart rate increasing at the thought of Rafe being upset. If he was bad enough that Topper of all people called you, you knew it was bad. You wanted to not care because of how he made you feel, but you did. You’ve always cared about the blond boy more than you cared to admit. You finally decided to look at the messages he sent you.
Y/N pls call me back
I’m sorry its not what it looks like and I know that sounds stupid but its true
Pls talk to me. I need u to talk to me
I promise that I never wanted to hurt u ok???
I love you, Y/N. Please call me or I’m coming to your house tomorrow.
The world stopped spinning when you read the last message. You kept reading it over and over again as if you misread it the first time. Rafe had never been any kind of affectionate with you until he called you baby. Rafe Cameron was not someone known to get emotional, so you weren’t sure if you believed his words. He was a liar and would do anything to get what he wanted, so what was different now?
You heard a knock on the door followed by your moms muffled voice, but you were too focused on the situation in front of you to notice who it was. Your eyes were glued to the screen, staring at the three words you never thought anyone other than your family and friends would say to you. The world around you was fading away, your heart feeling as if it was going to beat out of your chest as tears slid down your still puffy cheeks. You weren’t going to let him do this to you. You weren’t going to let him toy with you anymore.
“Y/N,” A deep voice dragged you out of your subconscious.
Your eyes darted over to the door and saw the last person you wanted to see. Rafe was standing there, his eyes wide and blood shot and he looked like total shit. His hair was a wild mess, nothing like its usual tamed state. You met his gaze and you wished you hadn’t. One look from him and you were puddy in his hands. One look and every thought you had about never seeing him again flew out the window.
“Hey, can we talk,” He mumbled, his bright blue eyes looking everywhere but at you. “Please.”
Not trusting your words, you gave him a swift nod and gestured to the spot next to you on your bed. You leaned to the side and placed your cat on the ground, watching as she rubbed herself all over Rafe’s leg before scampering away. His walk to your bed was painfully slow, and you wanted to tell him to hurry up, but you knew that was unreasonable.
“What do you want, Rafe,” Your voice was harsh, trying to ignore the urge to reach out to him. “What do you want to talk about? How you only use me for your own pleasure? How you only ever even look at me when you’re drunk or high? How you lied to me? Wanna talk about that?”
Your anger surprised even yourself. One second you wanted to hold him in your arms and comfort him, but then the memory of how he treated you came back and flipped a switch in your brain. You don’t know how you feel and you hate it.
“I deserve every bit of your anger,” He breathed out, letting his hand fall dangerously close to your own, “But please let me explain everything to you, okay?”
“Fine,” You gave in, “Talk.”
“Yeah, thank you, okay. I really do want to talk to you when I’m not absolutely fucked, I do. I know that it doesn’t seem like that, but its true. I just, I can’t. Every time I look at you, think about you, I hear my dads voice screaming at me that I will never be good enough for anyone. I have this thought drilled into my head every day that no matter what I do, who I am, I am just never enough. To me, you’re no exception to that. In fact, you remind me even more. Wait no.”
Rafe rubbed both of his hands over his face and tugged at his hair, afraid that he’s already fucking this up. “Rafe,” You gently spoke up, turning to grab his hands from his face. “It’s fine. Keep going.”
His eyes met yours and you could see how strained he was. There were too many emotions swirling in his eyes for you to pinpoint exactly what he was feeling. “Okay, um, okay. To me, you are way too good for me, so the only time I feel comfortable talking to you is when I’m high. I’ve never had trouble talking to any girl before, but you’re more than that to me. You’re more than just some girl to me and it scares me, so I feel like I have to be, yanno, not me. When I talk to you. I want to be with you more than I have ever wanted to be with someone in my life”
Your hand was still holding his as you let his words sink in. Him revealing how his dad truly made him feel made your heart ache for him. It made you want to grab him by the face and tell him how he is more than good enough. You wanted to let him in, but you weren’t sure if you were ready for the risk that came along with it. You’re not sure if you want all the things that came with being with Rafe Cameron. He’s followed by hurt and lies, and you do feel guilty thinking that, but it’s been proven true countless times.
“Rafe, listen to me,” You began, moving so you were straddling him and holding his face in your hands. His hands immediately came to grip your hips, and you are well aware that this was a more than compromising situation. “I understand that your father is probably the worst person we both know, but that doesn’t excuse you lying to me. I don’t know if I can trust you, no matter how much I may want to.”
You watched as tears gather in his eyes, and he was doing his best to keep them at bay. He had never felt the way he feels about you before, and he’s more than aware that his reputation precedes him. He knows that he’s done nothing more than prove how untrusting he is to you, but he wouldn’t let that stop him from trying to prove to you that he means what he’s saying.
“I know that nothing I say will fix what I’ve already done. I know that, but I can show you just how much you mean to me, if you’ll let me. We can go at your pace. Do things your way. Just, please, give me another chance to prove myself to you.”
You’re searching for any detection of a lie in his eyes, in his voice, but you come up empty. You wipe away the stray tears that broke through his wall of protection. You hesitantly placed your forehead on his, and you could hear him take in a sharp breath at the connection. Your eyes fluttered closed, your nose brushing against his as you weighed all of your options.
“Did you mean what you to me? In your last text,” You whispered, too scared to open your eyes and look at him. “Do you actually love me?”
“More than you know,” His breath was hot against your chin, and he pulled you closer into him.
You decided to take a leap, dive into something that scared you more than anything. Your lips finally met his, and Rafe wasted no time in returning the feeling. Your hands fell from his cheeks and clasped each other behind his neck, while his hands stayed placed on your hips, too scared to push you too far. You deepened the passion filled kiss by pulling him closer to you and running your tongue across his bottom lip. Rafe’s lips moved in such a sensual way that you almost didn’t know how to react. It was much different from the lust filled kisses you’ve shared in the past. You started moving your hips on top of him, an action that had him gripping your hips tighter than before.
Y/N,” Rafe breathed out after he broke away from you, “If you don’t stop, I don’t know if I can control myself.”
“Then don’t.”
