and chains.
For 3,000 long and painful years, these four have been doing all they can to lift their curses. They have failed, again and again and again. With only a sliver of hope left, they try once more.
-
Or, what if Zeldris accepted Meliodas’ offer to go with him 3,000 years ago?
The clearing was quiet, barren, and utterly too normal for any of their likings. It was impossible to feel even a hint of magic emanating from the space that was supposedly the entrance to the Necropolis.
“Well then!” Meliodas said, turning to face the group at large. Everyone was gathered in a semi-circle, minus the two kids who’d given them the instructions, still standing and just watching from the edge of the clearing. “Does anyone have someone in mind to think about?”
Zeldris swept his gaze over everyone else when no one said a word. He wouldn’t bother. There wasn’t anyone he could imagine fondly that would be in the Necropolis, knowing the few people he’d cared most for in his life were either around him now or simply just not quite dead. There wouldn’t be a point in trying to remember anyone.
Finally, Elizabeth piped up about trying to remember her mother. Meliodas’ expression tightened minutely, but to Zeldris’ relief, he relaxed once Hawk asked if she even had memories of her mother and she deflated, her hopeful expression shuttering away as she shook her head. While Zeldris felt a twinge of guilt at the face she made, he’d be a liar if he said he was disappointed she remembered nothing or relieved when Diane chimed in about someone she used to know, but she didn’t elaborate. She, Elizabeth, Hawk, and Meliodas then devolved into a debate about ghosts and whether or not accessing the Necropolis would lead to them having to interact with ghosts. Zeldris started tuning them out.
A glance at Gelda showed she was observing the others as well, though her eyes were trained on King and Ban, a tilt to her head. Zeldris, too, turned his attention to the two Sins and noted that neither seemed to be paying any attention to anyone.
King seemed more aware than Ban, his brows creasing as he stared toward the ground. Probably trying to open the Necropolis, then, but apparently not succeeding. It took Zeldris a few moments of pondering that he probably shouldn’t have needed to think of who the fairy might possibly be trying to remember. Consequently, the realization is what brought his attention to focus on Ban.
Ban had a rather blank look on his face. Zeldris’ chest tightened, his hearts suddenly feeling like they were starting to be squeezed.
The Sin of Greed was lost in his thoughts, his memories. Zeldris had no doubt what he could be thinking of, what he was reliving. He’d seen Meliodas in the exact same place too many times to count, too many times too many.
He was hit, suddenly, with the realization that seeing anyone wear that blank stare hurt.
Zeldris hadn’t noticed anything changing until the conversation between the others died out. Filling the silence was the wind, picking up speed and swirling flowers that weren’t there moments ago into the air.
It took a moment for anyone to react, too stunned at the sudden sight of a meadow of pink flowers to say anything. But then Diane exclaimed and Ban startled, blinking and finally looking around and clearly still not entirely back with them, still very much there, and the new meadow was filled with noise once more.
“Good luck finding them!” One of the kids chirped above the rising wind.
“And thanks for the food, mister!” Said the other with a wide grin, and then they were gone, obscured by the whirlwind of flowers surrounding the group.
Zeldris barely had time to process as from one moment to the next his vision was obscured by flowers to instead being obscured by bright reflective light.
--
Meliodas squinted once the world finally stopped spinning, the light reflected from the crystals surrounding them far too bright after suddenly seeing only darkness. He heard a hiss not far off and assumed it was Zeldris. Gelda he knew was okay from the shade that enveloped him a moment later, the vampire managing to get her bearings quicker than the rest of her family. He’d have to thank her later.
Blinking the spots away more easily now, Meliodas was able to take stock of everything and everyone.
They were in a land of smooth green and blue stone, around them the walls to a maze of crystals standing tall, but not tall enough to be considered an issue. Most were at Ban’s height, and with Diane, they’d really have no problems.
The others were recovering from the sudden environment change too, it seemed, scrubbing at their eyes or squinting around in hopes of adjusting their eyes to the light. He didn’t have to wait long before an excited gasp escaped Elizabeth as she looked around, and Hawk whistled lowly. Diane had a grin forming on her face, and it was practically infectious until she glanced down and noticed the three shrouded in darkness.
“Hey! No fair, Gelda! You didn’t shield any of the rest of us from the light!” She exclaimed, hands on her hips as Gelda dismissed the shadowy shield.
Gelda smiled apologetically at the giant. Sorry, she signed, They were closest and it was instinct. Diane huffed, practically pouting, and Meliodas couldn’t help the chuckle. Gelda glanced at him and shared the same amused smile before looking back up at Diane. Next time you’ll be the first I shield. Deal?
Diane made a decent effort to remain annoyed but caved quickly enough in the face of Gelda’s offer. “Deal!”
“Well, now we’re in the Necropolis,” Meliodas said, everyone’s attention flicking to him. “We should get a start on seeing if one of the others-” Meliodas startled when Ban jumped into motion, dashing off after some lights. Barely a second later King was flying after him, neither paying a glance to anyone else.
“What… just happened?” Hawk asked, staring after the two Sins long gone.
Zeldris sighed, and when Meliodas looked at his younger brother, he was met with a familiar tired and saddened look directed down the path Ban and King had run. Normally, said look was directed at him, and Meliodas hummed uncertainly to Hawk’s question as he tried to decipher the look.
He couldn’t help gaping at his own stupidity when it hit him why those two would chase after a spirit here. He closed his mouth with a click and shook his head. Unpack that later. For now…
“They’ll be alright,” he said, offering his most encouraging smile. A second later, Zeldris and Gelda were nodding.
“We’ll find them before we leave, or we’ll see them after we leave back in the meadow. We have a limited amount of time in here, after all,” Zeldris added.
“Right!” Meliodas clapped his hands together. “For now, we should be enough to try finding if any of us are here. Ban and King’ll be on the lookout too, I’m sure, so how about we head this way?” He gestured in the opposite direction that the two had run. If they had chased after who he thinks they did, the two Sins didn’t need the rest of them intruding on that conversation.
And so the group of six headed off.

actually scratch the list i need to know EVERYTHING
Well, let me tell you about a few more then. Let's talk about these:
The Loss in Victory (Emptiness)
Losing a Part of Me (Is Like Losing a Part of You)
Mel with tiny horns and wings
As the Night Falls
Pirate Melban AU
The Loss in Victory (Emptiness)
This is the Zeldris angst fic I was talking about back in... September, I think it was? It's supposed to be for Day 31 of Whumptober, and the prompt "Emptiness". (So the actual fic title is just "The Loss in Victory"). It's a hurt/no comfort fic taking place during the First Holy War. Basically, Zeldris struggles with the news that Meliodas is dead, and also struggles with the fact that it is actually hitting him that hard because:
He should be happy about this, yet all he felt was like someone had taken a big chunk of him out, leaving an empty nothingness where his hearts were supposed to be.
And here is a longer sneak peek:
As Zeldris made his way down the hallways, they parted before him. Anyone standing in his way quickly moved out of the way, letting him pass without any hesitation. If anything, it seemed people kept their distance from him more now than ever. Perhaps it was due to the urgency of his walk, or the tension in his posture, or maybe it was whatever showed across his face. Zeldris couldn’t tell. It was all a blur to him, nothing but the insistent need to get away, get away, get away! He was desperately holding onto the last shred of his composure like a lifeline. He was exposed out here, feeling the gazes of everybody he passed. He had to get away, to his own room. There, at least, nobody was watching, granting him the small piece of privacy he needed right now.
Losing a Part of Me (Is Like Losing a Part of You)
And here we have another demon bros angst fic. Also focused on the effect of the war/them being on different sides/Meliodas' curse. This time with focus on Meliodas. You can actually thank @hihopelessromantics for binging my attention to a post about Meliodas and Ludociel having scars from training their brothers, which is what inspired this fic. I saw that post and mind immediately went "oh I can make angst out of this".
So, as for the fic, it focuses on this idea of Meliodas having these scars that Zeldris gave him. Scars that he treasure a lot. They remind him of moments he got to have with Zel as kids, of training together or sneaking off from the castle together or even just finding a chance to goof of together. Big or small, they are moments he got to have with his little brother, where he got to be a brother to Zeldris. They mean a lot to him but - uh oh! - the DK and his assholery enters the scene. With the curse, Meliodas body is healed every time he is resurrected, including the scars from Zeldris. Meliodas struggles with losing the scars Zeldris gave him, feeling like he is losing those good memories of them together, and losing Zeldris in a way.
(Unfortunately, no sneak peek available for this one).
Mel with tiny horns and wings
Now onto happier - oh wait, this one is actually angstier than I originally planned... Anyway! This one is inspired by a conversation I had with @zorria about Meliodas with horns and wings. I wanted to write about that, but also make it really tiny and adorable.
Meliodas has an impressive set of wings and horns, but, given the whole hiding he is a demon thing, he needs to hide them. Problem is, he can't actually make them go away. All he can do is shrink them (think the sizes of a baby goat or tiny fairies). Normally, his hair and clothes are enough to hide them, but the Sins discover them anyway. And here the angst comes!
Actually, this was supposed to be a silly little fic about Mel having some adorable demon features with a side of angst in the form of his fear of them rejecting him. But then Meliodas fell in a lake! Okay, the falling in the lake was always going to be a part of the fic because I needed to get him wet, but the amount of angst that came with it was unplanned. As was my mind deciding that what if in this au Meliodas can't swim...
Sneak peek time! I've actually already shared a snippet from this one (here), so here's another one:
Which was the real problem that sunny late afternoon, wasn’t it? Meliodas couldn’t swim. If you have ever been in a situation where you are faced with the possibility that you could die right then and there, you know the feeling. The pure panic that overtakes your body. The way you fight with everything you have; frantically, desperately, without control. Meliodas had been there too many times. He’d also gone one step further, been faced with the inevitable realization that he was going to die. The moment where there was no fight left, the resigned acceptance. Maybe that had gotten worse with the years. If Meliodas died, he wouldn’t really die. Even if he accepted it, even if he actually welcomed it. There was no end to this life.
As the Night Falls
This is another fic inspired by Zorria. It's about Meliodas struggling with his nightmares (because we all know that man's gotta have nightmares after his 3,000+ years of hell), featuring a worried Elizabeth and a sleeping Tristan.
Not sure I have much more to say about this one, so here's a sneak peek:
“Hey, hey, you’re okay, we’re okay. I promise, we’re okay.” Elizabeth’s voice was a light to a dark cave, wrapping around him like a blanket and zapping away all the tension. Meliodas slumped back against the leg of the bed, head thumping lightly against the wall. Gods, it felt like he hadn’t slept all night – but clearly he had. His eyes finally decided to focus, giving him a close-up of Elizabeth’s worried frown as she crouched before him.
Actually I couldn't decide on which sneak peek to share, so here's another:
Meliodas tried to not react to the mild accusation, but she saw right through him anyway. Elizabeth always seemed to know what was going through his head. After all this time, he couldn’t hide. She sighed softly, sitting down on the floor beside him. “I worry about you, you know,” she mumbled, leaning her head against his shoulder. “We all do.” Meliodas grimaced at that; he had thought he’d hidden it better than that. Clearly he’d lost his touch. He supposed sleep deprivation did that to you.
Pirate Melban AU
Now I know you know a bit what this one's about. But I don't think I've actually talked about specific plot, just the general concept of Pirate!Ban and Merman!Meliodas. So, let me tell you a little about the start of our story. We meet Ban, a young pirate with a foul mouth and a bad habit of getting himself into trouble, who is (once again) finding himself without a ship to call home. While running from the consequences of his actions (literally), Ban ends up taking shelter in a cave. He's not the only one though, because further into the cave he comes across a wounded merman. Ban has grown up hearing (horror) stories of the merfolk living deep in the sea, so what if he ends up a little too curious about the stranger - he can't help it, especially after discovering the he has an attitude to match Ban's own.
A new little sneak peek (previous one can be found here):
How the fuck did he keep getting himself into these situations? Not that his one was his fault. Nope. The captain was the one who'd decided to cut his losses - meaning Ban - once they got into port. Ungrateful son of a bitch! Ban had given years to the Raven and now he was going to be left with nothing – just like that? Fuck no! So, Ban had helped himself to a little – okay maybe not so little – of their loot. So what? He'd helped get that, he deserved his cut.
Actually, since it's probably gonna be a long while until this fic is finished (I'm not the best at focusing on long multichapter fics lol), here's another sneak peek too:
With the first roar of thunder sounding, Ban surveyed his safe haven for the night. It really was an ugly cave. Cracks ran over the walls, splitting the brownish-gray color. From the outside, the cave had looked unstable, but inside it seemed sturdy and strong. Well, at least he wouldn't get crushed to death. Ban pushed off from the wall, walking further into the cave. It wasn't that big, narrowing off into a smaller tunnel the further he walked. A section of the ceiling suddenly dipped down, causing Ban to smack his head right into it. "AH fuck! Shit, that hurt."

Hiya!!! Here's the WIPs I'm interested to hear more about, feel free to not answer if you don't wanna talk about these ones, or feel free to choose which ones you talk about ^^
Demon Essay (I'm very curious about this one)
Half blind meli
Gelda and Zeldris Angst
💜💜💜💜💜
The "Demon Essay" is something I started writing before the Demon Realm Arc in 4kota came out, before I started reading it in fact, and it's inspired by one of zorria's posts and kind of an exploration and 'defense' anaylsis of what we've seen from the demon clan. Big focus on Zeldris and antics from cursed by light. I'd love to send it to you and hear your thoughts, if you want!
2. I am very intrigued by my mutuals' angst aus especially the ones where Meliodas has more siblings. Half-blind Meliodas au is Balin's, and I thought the exteme gore and themes of it all might make for something really fun to work on during the spooky season.

ohhh LMAO should tag balin when I'm talking about its au: @gh0stofyesterday
Unfortunately a shitton happened since I first thought of my senario for this (ow) but it's is still in the works. My spinoff premise, basically, is about how his older sister's restless soul has - unbeknowst to the current her - kept cycling through a sort of 'unfair cosmic punishment' (as she'd call it) of reincarnations. She's lonely, she's angry, and she just can't seem to escape the repetition of loneliness and unfullfilment- 'cause she has no catalyst to help her get the help she needs to make a change for herself. And no therapist. Until, a couple loops through, she meets Meliodas again. Doesn't recognize him of course. Will she be able to connect with her brother? Will she even try? Can she? Tune in on: balin please help me make sure I didn't kidnap your character and play puppet with her incorrectly to find out!
And here's, uh, an excerpt:
The first time she ever looked at his sullen face, the burning rage in his eyes could level a mountain. Yes. Both of them. The exposed medical disaster that was his right eye barely moved as he tracked her movements, her wide lopsided smile, the tilt of her head, and the way she clasped her hands together as she told him “Welcome!” and motioned for him to sit beside her in the tent.
“I don’t know how to work with any of this shit,” he told her matter-of-factly, indicating her display of medical equipment. She’d only set it out arranged like this so it looked like someone was living and doing something worthwhile in here, but that was too pathetic to explain, so she just did the usual act of nodding like yes, she meant to do this, and “offering encouragement” instead of “retaliating to every little change in the atmosphere.” That curse rolled off his tongue as if he was mocking a dumb word in another language he was being forced to use and she didn’t appreciate it, not when the only thing they gave her to represent her expertise and profession was a flimsy banner saying ‘me-decal recruitment and they sent in this man with a sword slung across his back as a candidate.
“Not everyone has the skillset right off the bat-” oh, he didn’t seem encouraged by that at all. Toned-down confrontation it was. “Woah. Could you stop . . . radiating, hostile energy? Could we talk about that, by any chance?” “What do you know about me?”
“Excuse me, I asked you a question.”
3. The Geldris is inspired by what I feel is a severe lack of vampire Gelda antics and nicknamed affectionally as the "blood-drinking fic." The first is from Zeldris's perspective and involves one of his 'secret' shenanigans / errand master antics from the Holy War Era and is supposed to include a second "aftermath" part with some demon bros bonding. The second, is, uh . . . idk what to write for that yet! ideas welcome. I'm thinking a domestic scene.
Wrote a little metaphor - poem for when Gelda drinks his blood:
He tasted like wild berries and trampled leaves
quick snacks between sprints
one old seasoned bird snatched on a flight
That kind of quickly devoured game which took weeks of stalking
And a piece of the juiciest fruit handed down with love.
Like someone who cared for others before he cared for himself. He tasted like her.

Why do I keep on imagining Cody but as a morally gray hero/villain who does whatever it takes to protect others even if it means doing evil or putting himself at risk?
Think of Quackity with a little mix of cynicism and good manipulation skills.

Don't pay attention, just a bunch of images of some characters I portray Cody into.
But yes! I think that we all do.

Random Headcanons
- Fairies smoke. They get high, oh they get so high. (Thanks @sydns for putting this idea in my head lol) The Fairy King's Forest has a spot where one can find the highest quality of herbs, one of the reasons why humans try to enter the forest in the first place. There are also far more crazier things that can be found in the Fairy Realm. None of the Sins know that King smokes because he didn't during his time with the Sins, his argument being that humans don't sell the good stuff. The first time anyone has actually seen King and Elaine smoke is at Gilthunder and Margaret's wedding.
- Goddess shed their feathers as they grow. It's kind of a weird sight to see
- Goddess and Fairies are known to have beautiful voices. The question of whose better is very subjective depends on who you ask. When a Goddess sings they bring a heavenly and ethereal feel. When a Fairy sings it's more enchanting and whimsical.
- Lancelot slept on Chastiefol once. Best nap ever.
- Lancelot became a bit overprotective over the Percy Platoon after the incident because he doesn't want anyone getting hurt again
- Lancelot didn't speak to Sixtus for months after Sixtus received Magliastira. Lance is just upset he didn't get a cool weapon
- Mael cried when he found out that Tristan named his swords after him
- Meliodas would sometimes talk to the horses in the castle stables, sometimes Ban would join in. King apologizes to the horses on their behalf
- Lancelot and Sixtus would use birds to carry messages to each other.
- Gowther taught Tristan how to curse in Demon language
- Gowther is Sixtus' favorite Uncle. "His weirdness is endearing." Sixtus said.
- Zeldris and Mael would sometimes have their own little tea parties in the Demon Realm. Meliodas found out about it and got upset he wasn't invited. "You don't even like tea." Zeldris argued. "That's not the point! It's the thought that matters, it's about a get together between brothers" after that they invited Meliodas, he really didn't last long.

and chains.
For 3,000 long and painful years, these four have been doing all they can to lift their curses. They have failed, again and again and again. With only a sliver of hope left, they try once more.
-
Or, what if Zeldris accepted Meliodas’ offer to go with him 3,000 years ago?
The kids screamed, scrambling away as the flames hit a stone wall. Ban tilted his head towards Gelda when she silently stepped to his side, glowering at the kid who had dodged her attack. From the corner of his eye, Ban spotted Ellen and her brother rush back towards their house, and he relaxed minutely.
Now they could deal with this brat.
Well. “They” wasn’t entirely correct. Gelda could deal with this brat, Ban had to deal with the spear currently impaling him.
Hands still ablaze, Gelda held very still as she glanced around, listening intently. There was a tutting sound behind them, and she whirled around. She snarled silently at the child - though she was beginning to doubt whether it was truly a kid, or at least a human child. Human children don’t typically fly or have control of spears.
Gelda shot another ball of fire at him before he could say anything else, forcing him to fly higher and out of her range. He scowled at her and with a flick of his wrist, his spear shot out of Ban, leaving him keeling over and coughing up blood. The spear transformed, hundreds of small knives taking its place.
She bared her teeth at the boy and just as the kid sent the knives rushing toward her, Gelda vanished and appeared just out of his reach. Her fingers sparked, preparing another attack - if she could just get behind the kid and knock him out, she would have time to think and maybe they could find out just who this person was and why the hell they seemed to have a grudge against Ban.
The Fox Sin seemed to have the same idea, having just narrowly dodged the attack meant for Gelda, his chest almost completely healed now. He was glaring at the kid, who looked to not even be breaking a sweat.
A cocky grin split across Ban’s face, and Gelda let the small flames dwindle into nothing for a moment. The heat remained in her palms, ready to set something alight in a moment’s notice, but if Ban was about to do what Gelda thought he was going to do - which, she was fairly certain he was; he wasn’t known as the second most arrogant Sin among the group for no reason - then she would have a moment to figure things out, plan on where to go from here.
Because things were just not adding up.
Ban used Snatch on the rake Ellen’s brother had attacked him with and lunged at the floating boy.
Gelda backed further out of their range while watching the boy closely, watching as he effortlessly glided out of Ban’s way but so easily fell for the bait, no longer paying Gelda any mind, instead focusing his attention solely on Ban.
A spear that could turn into knives. Or was it knives that could transform into a spear?
His weapon transformed smoothly, and when he wasn’t dodging Ban he managed to get in a few good hits. The only thing Ban had going for him in this fight was his healing.
And the kid seemed to know that.
Gelda narrowed her eyes as he consistently aimed for Ban’s chest. It wouldn’t kill him, obviously. Nothing could - Ban’s body would always return to its previous state. It was why Ban tended to take a lot of heavy hits in battles past, or so she had been told. However, leaving a massive gaping hole in Ban’s torso seemed to take just a little longer to heal than most of his other wounds.
Scratch seeming to know anything, this kid did know.
He knew exactly how to fight Ban. Maybe not win, but certainly he knew how to slow him down.
The question was how?
How would a child know how to slow Ban down?
Almost as though reading her mind, the kid laid a hit on Ban that should have sent him halfway across Tala. Before Ban could go flying that far, however, not even before he would have been sent over the wall of this little courtyard, the kid’s weapon transformed into a green pillow.
Ban fell to the ground, and Gelda felt almost as stupid as that Twigo guy.
--
Ban hauled himself up, swaying only just slightly, and silently damning Gelda for stepping out of the fight. Seriously, what was she waiting for? He had given her plenty of openings to light this brat up.
Well, whatever, Ban thought, huffing and turning to get an eye on the kid again. So lame, his mind continued, that you’re getting beat by a goddamn child.
He didn’t get much time to process more than that as the thing he’d slammed into the last time he was sent flying transformed again, once more that irritating spear, and damn was that a stupidly fast weapon. It shouldn’t be that fast, not if it was just your everyday magical weapon. There weren’t many in this world to begin with.
He braced for the impact, for the spear to once again impale him, his body moving too slow now to properly dodge.
Nothing happened.
When he twisted around, Gelda was standing between Ban and the kid, the spear inches from her face with only a ball of fire in her palm keeping the spear from progressing. The kid was clearly agitated, scowling at Gelda as if she had just murdered his puppy.
Gelda raised a single brow at the kid, utterly unimpressed by the look he was giving her.
The kid drew the spear back, slowly at first, but with a flick of his wrist the spear was sent flying and Ban was about to look away, keep it in his sight, but stopped dead when Gelda extinguished the fire in her hand and began signing.
“King.”
Ban and the kid both stilled, two pairs of eyes trained on Gelda’s hands. For a moment, no one moved at all.
“Wait, what?!” Ban yelled, stepping back and turning to the child, looking over him. The kid glared as he was scrutinized, hands clenching but not daring to make a sound. “How the fuck is that King?!”
If Gelda weren’t facing the kid, Ban was sure she’d be staring at him like he was the biggest idiot in all the realms. As it were, her head rolled slightly, and Ban could imagine the eye roll she just did, barely containing a wince.
Before she could answer though, the sound of their captain rang out over them.
“Oh, you found King!”
Gelda and Ban turned to the blonde. Zeldris was close behind him, but there was no sign of the princess or the pig.
Meliodas was beaming, hitting a fist against Ban’s chest so lightly that if it weren’t for the captain’s little brother tailing him Ban would have questioned if it was really Meliodas and not just a terrible imitation. Said brother was leveling the boy - the boy, because that was definitely not King, no matter what Gelda or the captain said - with a glare that spoke of all the things Zeldris likely wanted to do to the kid for even trying to harm his wife.
“Captain, do you need your eyes checked?” Ban asked, ignoring the hysterical note that entered his voice. “There is no way that’s-”
There was a gasp far above them. “King!”
Ban jumped at Diane’s exclamation, spinning to face the giant who had snuck up on the little group.
“Am I the only one who realizes that is not King?” His words echoed slightly through the empty village.
Zeldris raised an eyebrow at him over Meliodas’ shoulder, unimpressed while Meliodas just looked a bit baffled. “What do you mean it’s not King?” Meliodas asked. “It looks just like him! Right Zel?”
What Ban could only assume was understanding dawned on Zeldris’ face before he huffed out a short laugh. “You never heard of King before the Sins,” it sounded like a question, but it was clear there was no response expected because the answer was as clear as day.
Ban looked around at everyone, noting Gelda’s amusement beside him and Diane’s confused excitement as she stared at the boy. But most interesting was the kid’s expression, a blank mask that was so familiar to what he’d seen on his captain numerous times it looked wrong on someone else’s face, and it was so wrong it was too easy to see past it. It was almost too easy to see the conflict in the kid’s eyes as they darted from the captain to himself to Diane then to Gelda and Zeldris then to the captain again.
More conversations were ensuing, Ban could vaguely hear it, but he wasn’t paying much attention now. Probably wasn’t important anyway. He narrowed his eyes at the boy.
He supposed the kid had some things similar to King. The hair color looked pretty spot on if Ban thought hard enough about what King looked like. That spear was too much like the one King had for Ban to be happy. The glare the kid couldn’t help but send Ban’s way had heat only those who had to deal with Ban could ever have.
It took him a bit to notice, too, but there was a familiar magic thrumming around them. Which was harder to explain through coincidence. But that wasn’t what felt like the last straw.
It was Diane getting a little too close to the boy to see him better, putting him under her sole attention even as she debated with the captain. It was the boy realizing how close the giant was, and as soon as he did, the flush which overtook his entire face was too great for it to be anyone but King.
“Holy shit.”
--
Somehow - and King didn’t know how it had happened exactly, only that it happened - they had all returned to the tavern, giving a brief explanation to Princess Elizabeth and the talking pig. The two actual kids were with them too. The tavern was eerily quiet as Meliodas, Zeldris, and Gelda all signed to each other, far too quickly for King to keep up with after a decade of not seeing anyone signing. The little boy and his sister were sitting, confused but patient and quiet, at a random table inside. King had resigned himself to floating on Chastiefol outside, where Diane too was quite quiet and looking off past Tala.
King didn’t know what was going to happen moving forward. He scowled at no one in particular, because Ban was in the kitchen but that was too far for King to hear. The pig - Hawk, King reminded himself - was there too; probably hoping that Ban would give him some scraps of food. The princess was sitting on the porch not that far from King, staring down at pages she kept tucked close to herself, only occasionally turning a page.
Eventually curiosity won over and King drifted closer to the princess, not once coming close to landing. She startled when he cleared his throat, the book almost tumbling off her lap. She didn’t quite relax but a small, polite smile flashed across her face.
“Sir King! I didn’t realize you were there,” she said with a small laugh.
King hummed, nodding to the book. “What’s that?” Her face flushed and she drew the book closer. “If you want to share, of course. You’re under no obligations to,” he was quick to add.
Elizabeth did relax at that, shaking her head with a small sigh, gaze returning to the book. “It’s not- There’s nothing too personal, I suppose. I… Before I started my journey, I compiled all the information I could on the Seven Deadly Sins, from what I and others remembered and from books.” She chuckled. “I don’t know why I’m reading them again. A lot of them are old stories, and some are just so vague they could be about pretty much anyone. Even my added notes.”
She uncurled herself, settling more comfortably on the porch with King and splaying the book between them. King let Chastiefol drift down all the way to the ground so he could see.
The book was open to some notes about Gowther, which King guessed were probably the barest pages in the book. It was then King noticed some colored tabs poking out of the pages - seven total, equal space between them, but some pages looked more worn than others.
The page currently facing King was a theory he’d heard much of as well - rumor that the Rust Knight was one of the Sins. King leaned closer, the princess’ scrawl much harder to read when it was clearly written in a rush. Her reasonings were pretty basic, but King supposed they were logical conclusions, and it wasn’t like he had any evidence to the contrary. He didn’t even know what Gowther actually looked like - only Merlin and the captain did.
To be fair, King thought, she did find some of us already. So maybe she’s on the right track.
“Well, you’ve found four of the Sins. Which of us do you think we’re likely to find next?” he asked.
“That all depends on where we go next, I think.” Elizabeth flipped to the beginning of her book and unfolded a map she had tucked there. She pushed the book aside to flatten the map, allowing King to see exactly what path she had taken so far.
She tapped the Liones capital and traced her finger along a line of red ink. “I’ll be honest, I started off in a random direction without much thought other than just… a gut instinct, I suppose. It was completely by chance that I stumbled into the Boar Hat and found Sir Meliodas.” Her finger stopped on a circled hill. King vaguely remembered Twigo being rescued from that area. “I also compared my map to the one Sir Meliodas, Sir Zeldris, and Lady Gelda already had. I’m not as well-versed in geography as I’d like to be, and names of places are harder to remember, so when they started helping me I couldn’t remember what I had already ruled out and what I hadn’t.”
“You didn’t just grab this map because…?”
Her cheeks once again took on a pink hue. “Would you believe me if I said I forgot?” King raised an eyebrow, and Elizabeth’s face flushed a deeper red as she laughed nervously. “I guess I was so caught up over the fact I’d managed to find just one Sin, and distracted by some other things I was slowly learning, it really just slipped my mind.”
King hummed again, squeezing Chastiefol. “You didn’t answer my first question.”
“What ques… oh, right!” Elizabeth drummed her fingers against her leg. “Next sin. It might be Sir Escanor. I have heard stories of his abilities, and they are rather hard to miss. It would be a massive amount of power someone would have to try hiding, and that would take a very powerful spell. Then again, he has evaded arrest for a decade now.
“Lady Merlin is much less likely to be found. From what my father has said, Lady Merlin is crafty, and her magical prowess is extraordinary. Which means if she does not want to be found, we probably won’t be able to find her.”
“And Gowther?”
Elizabeth hesitated. “Sir Gowther is… complicated. No one has ever seen what he looks like, only his armor. And armor can be abandoned. Sir Gowther could be dead, in hiding, or wandering the world somewhere in broad daylight. And considering what’s actually known about Sir Gowther’s past is very little, it’s near impossible to assume where we might be able to find him.
“Our best bet,” she continued, “would probably be looking in the Necropolis first. Not only for Sir Gowther, in case he’s dead, but for any of the others since… well, death is unpredictable… even the most powerful person in the world has to die at some point.”
“I don’t know Princess.” Elizabeth and King jolted, heads snapping up to see Ban leaning against the doorframe with an infuriating smirk. Gods did King not miss that face. “While I wouldn’t dream of calling myself the most powerful, technically I can’t die. I won’t ever die. There are some things in the world that are just… going to last forever.”
King scoffed, uncurling from Chastiefol and floating up to be at Ban’s eye level. “Just because you’re immortal doesn’t mean you’re invincible-” King gestured to his own neck, mirroring the place Ban’s scar resided, “-and you can still pseudo-die.” Ban’s smirk fell into a contemplative frown and he glanced away.
“What’s this about Ban being able to die?” Meliodas asked, ducking under Ban and plopping down beside Elizabeth. “Because, gotta say, I’d be devastated to lose him after we only just got him.”
“You’d be devastated, huh?” Ban was grinning, utterly disbelieving in the captain’s words.
Meliodas nodded, a grim expression on his face. It only lasted for a few seconds before he laughed, settling more comfortably on the wooden steps.
“Well, I’d miss your cooking!”
“That is the one thing he’s good for…” King muttered, crossing his arms as Ban barked a laugh.
“What King, are you jealous because Diane eats the food I make and not the crap you-”
“Alright children,” Zeldris chided, elbowing Ban in the ribs as he passed with Gelda and the two little kids in tow. “Enough bickering.” He looked down at Elizabeth, tilting his head at her. “Do you really think it’d be worth it to go to the Necropolis, even though we found King?”
Elizabeth hesitated for only a moment, before schooling her expression and nodding. “Absolutely. Even if we don’t find another Sin, it wouldn’t hurt to look.”
“Then it’s settled! To the Necropolis!”

💥 for the ask game ^^
Thank you for the ask! :)
💥 What is one canon thing that you wish you could change?
Ooh, that's a big question, isn't it? Well, the first thing that comes to mind, and something I've gotten into a bit in the comment section on ao3 but I don't think I've talked about on here yet, is the demons. Especially Meliodas and Zeldris. They're... too human.
I mean, we do have non-human demons and demons who very much look like demons. Like most demons in Cursed by Light, and even some of the Commandments. But not a lot of our main demons (like Mel and Zel). And honestly, I expected more after Galand's talk about Meliodas still being in "that form". So, yeah, I wish Meliodas and the other demons had gotten more demonic forms. (Hence why a lot of my fics include more demonic features for Mel).
Actually, this kinda goes for all the races. I wish there was more differences between the races. Like Gowther said, none of them are from the same species. It's a perfect opportunity to really play to the strengths and weaknesses of the different races, including their physical attributes.
Anyway. Here's the list for the ask game, if anyone else wanna send me something :)

Yandere Meliodas headcanons
Alright ! Let's do this ! My very first headcanons
(Elizabeth exists in this one btw)
Tumblr media
Warnings: kidnapping, yandere behaviour
I headcanon him to be a very protective, possessive and slightly lucid yandere.
Let's say you're a human for this, he would be very protective of you, even if you try to argue and prove that you can protect yourself( also, he wouldn't even let you try to to prove yourself, bc he's worried you could get hurt or he could lose you).
Since he knows that humans don't live long, he would make you become an immortal (maybe steal some droplets from the fountain of youth)
He's a loving yandere and will smother you in affection, especially after he snaps and kidnaps you
He would do anything that you ask him to do(except stop loving you, protecting you or killing zeldris), and anything to make you love him
He'll give you gifts, stuff that remind him of you and of course anything that you want
It's nearly impossible to escape from him, because he always finds you like he knew exactly where you would go and be
He doesn't really punish you when you escape,  the most he'll do is use a spell to keep you close and maybe just isolate you a bit.
He's a bit lucid and delusional in the sense that he believes that only HE can protect you, and would definitely use a bit of manipulation( like creating a whole attack on you to come in and save you) to show you that.
Now as for kidnapping, he wouldn't do it unless he completely snaps, Then and only then will he kidnap you by locking you up in a room in the boar hat...
uhhhh I guess that's it !

Guys I had a dream last night where adult Nasiens and Percival leave Brittania after the war against Arthur to settle in a little territory/land like God's Finger .
They get married and have a little girl with dark green hair, the prettiest golden/brown eyes you've ever seen and a smile so bright she could light up the entire room .
She's the absolute love of their life . Percival is ( obviously) a girl dad and let's her messily braid his long hair or paint his face atrociously with makeup . Despite the sparkly mess on his face he'll always gasp in delight when she proudly holds up her rhinestone orned mirror to his face and hug her tightly saying " Thanks kiddo I look beautiful 😊😊 "
He's very obviously lying but the toothy grin abd the hug that he gets from his little girl is worth it .
She's basically a mini Percy but with darker hair and brown eyes .
And Nasiens gosh Nasiens loves their little girl ( I'm using they cause I don't know if in the future he's going to remain a he or a she, so I'm keeping the pronouns neutral for know ) who runs on her wee little legs to hug his knees tightly and say the most adorable things ever like " You're so prettyy Mama/Papa" or " I love you so so much more than the whooooole world " .
And Nasiens eats it allll up, plucking the little girl from the floor to tuck her into their arms and to kiss her fluffy hair adoringly .
She's a very energetic little bean, running and bouncing around at every second . A very curious and sharp kid tooo always asking questions. Like... always 💀.
She's also very good at hand to hand combat, her and Percy roughouse all the time much to Nasiens dismay .
( " PERCY YOU DID NOT JUST DROPKICK OUR DAUGHTER-"
" BUT HONEY SHE ASKED ME TOO TEACH HER !" )
For her magic tho I haven't really figured put what it is and I would really appreciate some ideas :))
As for her race she technically has human/life spirit ??/ giant and fairy blood running through her veins so there are a lot of options for her magic lmao .
Zeldris and Gelda are crazy about her .
Zel actually burst into tears when they announced that they were expecting.
He burst into tears when he heard that she was born .
And he burst into tears when he saw her for the first time .
( he was very embarrassed and forbids everyone from speaking about it but Meliodas heard and calls him crybaby now 💀 )
Anywas he's always asking Persiens to babysit her, like all the fucking time .
P : Dad its been three times in a row, we can find another sitter if ya want ?
Z : Nonsense son * plucks the baby out of Percy's arms and pulls her gently into his * You and Nasiens need some alone time hmm ?
N : Alone time can wait, Zeldris-San we really don't want to bother you-
Z : Bother me ??? * dramatically puts a hand over the baby's ears as is he wanted to shield her from what Nasiens said even tho she can't understand *Bothering me with this angel ?
* gazes into her big eyes adoringly.*
Never .
*looks to the couple*
To be honest I'm doing this more for myself than for you guys lmao, I just want to spend time with my beautiful grandaughter, isn't that right my little monster?
B : *coos happily *
Z : * strokes her cheek softly * You two can go now have fun *he says dismissively and turns around * You want grandpa to read you a story about how he killed a thousand godesses in one day ??
P : Please don't Dad .
Z : *pretends he can't hear* oh son you're too far, love you, have fun, byeee.
He would be the silliest grandpa .
And Gelda, Diane and King would have an amazing relationship with her naturally .
My imaginative juice has ran out for today but please expect ro hear more about Persiens daughter 🥰🥰.
AND COULD Y'ALL PLEASE HELP ME FIND A NAME FOR THIS FRICKIN KID I HAVE NO IDEA 😭😭

For the tickle ask thingy:
1 - 30 ALL of them😈😈😈😈
-T :3
4, 8, 10, 15, 19, 29, 30 ill choose those i ain't gonna do all of them babe 😭
4. - "Do you like to give / be given revenge tickles?
Yes. They're really fun, imo
8. - "What is your favourite tickle game?"
You know the one where you have to keep your arms up? I love that one !! It's so flustering
10.- "In your opinion, what is an underrated spot that you share?"
.. forehead. I've tickled myself there and it makes me so squeaky and stuff, I love it LMAO
15.- "Out of these options, which would you rather - being restrained, being pinned or being left to squirm?"
Being restrained, it's way more flustering, but it kinda depends!!
19.- "Would you rather plan a session or be spontaneous?"
I mean, if you plan out a session, I'd be nervous and blushy the whole day, looking out for it, but if its spontaneous, then its more fun? So... I'd say both
29. - "Reward or punishment tickles? Why?"
Reward, It makes me feel like i actually did a good job you know? It makes me feel nice, but punishment tickles on the other hand... they're flustering and fun.. so I say punishment
30.- "Would you rather have your arms tied above your head or out to the sides?"
Above my head!! Almost all of my spots are exposed if my hands are above my head lol!!
