Thoughts on The Bad Batch Episode 6 - Infiltration - A Discussion Post
This week's two episodes really took us through another rollercoaster. Let's look back on all the details that got us excited!
(SPOILERS IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE EPISODES YET! all screencaps from cap-that.com! https://www.cap-that.com/starwars/the-bad-batch/306/)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rex makes his return by delivering Senator Avi Singh and his droid GS-8 to Senator Riyo Chuchi on Pantora, who continues to recruit people for fighting against the Empire. I was surprised to see Senator Singh again; every episode that's happened in the series really had a good purpose for the story.
Howzer also appeared, and I'm so happy he's back!
Tumblr media
One of the Clone X troopers had appeared, sneaking around and attempting to attack the senators. Rex and the others try to attack the trooper, and Howzer manages to stun him. The trooper ends up being another unidentified clone, and the boys take him into custody.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We arrive at the monastery on Teth, which had first appeared in the Clone Wars movie. Rex and the other clones have built themselves a base here, where they are safe and far away from the Empire.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rex and Howzer go to see the CX trooper they took into custody, as they had the shocker removed from their teeth, learning from the scenario that happened last season. Rex tries to reason with the trooper, who refuses to talk.
Fireball had looked through the device that they found with the CX trooper, and Omega was shown on that device. Rex decides to contact Echo and Hunter, calling them here to talk to them about the situation. Everyone's after the poor girl, and none of the clones are able to catch a break.
Tumblr media
The CX trooper that we've all got our eyes glued to appears once again on-screen, asking "Why have I been activated?" We finally get to hear this trooper talk, and his voice is very hidden by the helmet. He is given a mission to track down the CX trooper that went missing, and we go on to pay close attention to him throughout the episodes. When I tell you my heart was racing every time he appeared on screen, I was really trying to think hard and connect the dots. I'm a Tech believer, but with the new theories emerging on this trooper potentially being other clones as well, every theory is so intriguing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While on the way to Rex's base, Omega copying Crosshair was the cutest thing ever. She went from copying Hunter in Season 1, copying Phee in Season 2, and now this in Season 3. (Hunter's definitely having flashbacks.) Girl's growing up too fast for me 😭
Tumblr media
Can we just take a second and look at Wrecker's smile here? It was so heartwarming to see him smile like this while he was petting Batcher. He's so cute.
Tumblr media
The crew arrives, and Howzer keeps his eyes locked on Crosshair. The little nod Rex and Omega shared was so adorable. Howzer speaks up to talk to Crosshair, who stays silent. He reminds him of Ryloth and what happened, and he has good reason to be upset.
Not gonna lie, I was expecting Rex to look at Batcher and be like when did y'all get a dog 🤨
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Before leaving to go pick up Gregor (wherever he is), Echo gives Omega a new crossbow, replacing the Zygerrian crossbow she used to have before being taken to Tantiss. I still wonder what happened to that weapon, it was just completely lost. Omega loves her new gift and thanks Echo, and I can't wait to see her use it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rex and Howzer show Hunter and Crosshair the information they got so far from the device they obtained from the CX trooper they have, and Crosshair starts to open up about what he went through on Tantiss, talking about Hemlock's conditioning. Howzer continues to suspect anything Crosshair says, and Hunter gets protective for his brother. The boys decide to ask Omega about why they wanted her on Tantiss, and she says that it was so Nala Se could work for them.
I feel like I could tell that Omega does not want to talk about anything she went through on Tantiss and whatever she experienced. She looks so hurt at times ever since she became reunited with her family, and she wasn't even eating in this episode. She always keeps giving Batcher her food. Omega mentions "M-count", which Rex has heard of before, but doesn't know what it means. I wonder when they'll learn what it means and how they'll try to figure out why Omega is needed for this.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, the CX trooper sent from Tantiss had arrived on Teth and located the clones' base, and had snuck in without ANYONE noticing. Batcher's senses felt something was around, but she shrugged it off and continued eating. Not even Hunter's enhanced senses had felt something was around. I felt like maybe these troopers were designed to avoid those kinds of things, and maybe Hemlock learned about Hunter's abilities and attempted to avoid them.
Anyway, he looks around and spots Omega, immediately running out and contacting someone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Crosshair found out they have one of the CX troopers in custody, he goes with Rex, Howzer, and Hunter to see him. The second he lays eyes on the trooper, there is genuine fear in his eyes. What did he go through on Tantiss?
The CX trooper recognizes Crosshair and begins to talk, and knows the Empire is coming for them. Crosshair insists they leave, while the others keep wanting information, and Howzer gets more suspicious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Right outside, the bombs CX-2 planted around the base are set off, triggering multiple explosions. He re-enters the base, firing shots, as everyone hurries to protect the base. The trooper manages to shoot the CX trooper they have in custody, making them unable to get further information. The fight continues until the base is wrecked, causing the CX trooper to be crushed under rubble, and the others get locked in the place they kept the trooper in custody after the rubble blocks their way out.
RIP to Fireball 😭
Tumblr media
Wolffe finally makes his appearance! He continues to be a soldier of the Empire, but he definitely is no longer under the influence of the chip. The episode ends here, and I was screaming the entire time Wolffe appeared. Someone go summon the force ghost of Plo Koon so he can knock some sense into his son.
This episode was full of context, but there's still so much mystery behind everything. The next episode was full of even more action, and I had my eyes glued to the screen.

Anyone else think this might be senator Avi Singh from The Bad Batch?
Tumblr media
I noticed the droid at first and thought it looked familiar.
Tumblr media
And then realised that actually, he also looked familiar.

Alright.. Everyone saying this guy is Tech. My theory is that this is Cody. C'mon think about it, this season is bringing all the stuff back from season 1, like Avi Singh or Roland Durand. Cody disappeared a long time ago in season 2 and I don't think he was a random cameo. Also Crosshair mentions he was resisting the re-education program cuz he is a defective clone, so Tech should resist it too (if he is alive). Sorry for bad english lol :)) Also also.. they mentioned Boba in season 1, I still have my hopes up xd

The Bad Batch: so many questions, so little time...
Only 3 episodes left, but the loose ends and problems keep multiplying 🤯
Rampart! We now have Rampart onboard, and, frankly, I'd be disappointed if he won't try to double-cross his involuntary allies.
Wolffe is still with the Empire. Any repercussions for letting Rex go?
Rex, Echo and the whole clone rebellion thing. It isn't going well, but Rex is still a far cry from a disappointed Rex in exile, as we meet him in “Rebels”.
Senators, conspiring with the former Separatists, does this scene with Riyo and Avi Singh lead anywhere?
Force sensitive kids, OMG!
What's wrong with Hemlock's hand? Is it related to Crosshair's problem? Does he gets an opportunity to use his gas once more?
I'm not even starting on the Bad Batch-centred issues. And potentially BB-centred, such as CX2 identity, Emerie and Nala Se's fates.
The only optimistic prognosis I see here is that we get three episodes dealing with the fate of Omega and her family (which may be not too optimistic…)
...and the rest of the issues get transferred to the new animated spin-off series. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏼

"Infiltration" and "Extraction" Review
Those two episodes were genuinely some of the most terrifying we've seen in the Star Wars. It burned the safety net for me because no one outside Rex, Gregor, and Wolffe are safe. They could start dropping the Batch like flies at any point honestly. Unlike Clone Wars, the Batch don't have plot armor so the show can end their tale by killing them all off. And unlike Rebels, there is no family-friendly rating so yes, this show can be as dark as it wants if it chooses the Rogue One option. We don't know if the Batch will make it. It honestly gave me Game of Thrones vibes (like early GoT when it was good).
Before we get into spoilers, both episodes did great job capturing the danger that everyone was in. The atmosphere was tense and the music did a great job enhancing that. This is why I say the safety net is gone. Our heroes are being closed in from all sides and it's anyone's game now.
Alright, spoiler time
The clone assassins are legitimately terrifying. They were clones that willingly chose the Empire and were subjected to who knows what in order to become what they are now. Worse, Hemlock tried to do it to Crosshair. It's so evident that Crosshair's trauma didn't end on Barton IV, the clone assassin program did something to him. The way he is so scared of the clone assassin when he sees him just hit my feels. I hope he lets his family in whenever he's ready to talk. He's hurting still and he needs all the support he can get. Also, let's add almost drowning again and more brainwashing to Crosshair's list of bad things because he really is the show's punching bag.
Also, Crossdad nation supremacy. I loved his banter with Omega and him constantly looking out for her. He's so naturally protective I can't. This man loves her so so much. It's also so cute when Omega was copying him with the toothpicks. First, she copied Hunter, then she copied Phee, now she copies Crosshair. Can our little ray of sunshine get any cuter?
The interactions with Howzer were also really great. It makes sense why he doesn't trust Cross because he did get hurt at Cross' hands. However, seeing Crosshair interact with Omega changes his perspective. The two begin to understand each other and even have a small conversation about loyalty. I'm glad that Crosshair was willing to open up to Howzer. He's a changed man and he is healing. Crosshair later pushes Howzer out of the way to protect him. It all came full circle at the end when Howzer saved Crosshair from being murdered by Clone X.
Cross aside, the stuff with Rex with phenomenal. It's so cool to see him working with Riyo and even Avi Singh as they try to pass info along. Riyo talking about systems coming together foreshadows the rebellion that starts to bloom over the next several years. Even though the year is 18 BBY, the seeds of rebellion have already been planted; now, they need time to grow. Rex's cause is genuinely so tragic because you know it's only going to come crashing down on him. I think that the end of show will feature the end of the clone rebellion in that it will be destroyed. Rex will be forced to go into hiding like we see in Rebels. Those who survive will do the same (but since we only see Gregor and Wolffe, the chances are limited). Speaking of Wolffe, omg my boy is back! I had a feeling he's with the Empire, but seeing him in his full wolf pack armor and his choice to spare Rex gives me hope. He's not fully gone. The chip is loosing its power over him. Sooner or later, Wolffe will join Rex and his fight against the Empire.
The episode title "Infiltration" was also really clever because it wasn't about the Batch at all, it was about the clone assassin. In any other season, or another show, these two episodes might've been about the heroes infiltrating and extracting some important information or person/object. But no, it's about Clone X infiltrating the heroes and then Echo extracting the heroes before it's too late. That's such a chilling idea. Now, we know the heroes are mostly safe, but it doesn't make it any less tense. The way Clone X slips in so quietly is creepy. We aren't ready to hear about what they did to those clones on Tantiss because if it produces results this efficient, then yikes. I do have a theory on Clone X, but I'll save that for later.
And I think Echo is 100% gonna die. It's so sweet he gave Omega the upgraded bow, but my man is gonna bite it soon.
Overall, these episodes were tense, dark, and truly sinister. The Batch can never truly hide anymore, not even on Pabu. The clone assassins will not stop until Omega is captured and the Batch is presumably dead. Whatever safety and peace Hunter thought they could have is now gone. Whatever happens next, the Batch are truly in for the fight of their lives.

Time for our breather episode, Common Ground
The scenery in this show is so damned good, the way I am instantly in love with Raxus and the gold tones.
Honestly this episode fits much better given what we see in Spoils of War/Ruins of War, emphasizing the humanity of the people in every system. TCW triedddd to do this with the 'heroes on both sides' but they really just kind of said it and then showed us like one lady that didn't suck in the entire show. She died immediately. So I appreciate these episodes.
Also I just love the Senator's droid she's hilarious to me.
Avi Singh is voiced by Alexander Siddig and it made me trust him immediately like all those people in the crowd cheering that is me hearing Julian Bashir's voice come out of this little animated man.
HOW can the scene of them just walking contain so many of my favorite character moments? Omega feeding Wrecker a piece of Mantell Mix, Tech steadying Omega when Hunter helps her off Wrecker's shoulder to make sure she doesn't fall over, her smiling up at him, this expression of UTTER DUBIOUSNESS and SUSPICIOUS SNIFFING from Echo
Tumblr media
I headcanon that Echo has hella digestive problems after a large portion of them was replaced by technology so every food must pass this sniff test and 90% of them do NOT but especially not whatever sugary concoction goes on this space popcorn.
I do NOT get why people thought for so long that we don't see Tech caring for Omega because every time she stumbles Tech is right there to steady her, he takes such good care of Omega oh my god. Sometimes love is making sure your baby sister never ever falls over!
Which he also does when she gets on a chair and he is right there like JUST IN CASE.
Tumblr media
Adolescents often exhibit lack of balance as they grow best to be within two inches of her at all times in case she wobbles.
GRANDMA CRIMES WILL BABYSIT DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. DON'T TRUST HER BUT SHE'LL TOTALLY DO IT.
I do think it's very funny that the one time Hunter successfully keeps her out of a mission by leaving her on another planet, she immediately becomes central to a gambling ring.
I want a count of how many times Echo complained about this job while Tech is just YOU KNOW WHAT'S GREAT, EARNING MONEY TO EAT WITHOUT PUTTING IT ON CID'S TAB. And Wrecker is just excited to mark off a new system on his Visited Locations list.
"Now are you convinced?" "No >:[" Echo has very valid reasons to not be thrilled about this job but unfortunately separatist doesn't mean much anymore and also they're so cute when they're Grumby.
When you clean SO sadly that Cid comes over like STOP BEING A MOPE. Omega's really leaning into her early teens attitude with SOR-RY.
Tumblr media
ANGY.
Bolo and Ketch's DISAPPOINTED HEAD SHAKING is so fucking funny. You UPSET the CHILD Cid. Go fix it. Like they weren't taking bets on her fucking up her bow training earlier.
I know Hunter's mentioning Omega is supposed to be Feelsy a little but I do admit it misses a little bit because it's not like she's missing or anything. I do wish they had done something like this with Crosshair early on, like in Rampage when he orders Echo to be eyes in the sky, switch it to him saying Crosshair's name instead and then correcting.
THIS ANTIQUE VASE IS PRICELESS, BE CAREFUL :C I love herrrrrr
You know the senator is in real trouble because they took his hat.
AND BEHOLD! I HAVE SAVED YOUR MOST PRIZED VASE :D
Quite a bit of time is spent on Grand Theft Walker in this episode. Also I'm glad they're using stun bolts but oh boy is it concerning to stun a bunch of clone troopers in the same area where walkers are fighting, this is such a way to get squished.
As always I'm a big fan of Tech getting Punchy I love that he's not at all a docile nerd.
Echo stepping forward to encourage Avi to leave because he can't help his people in custody is sweet but would have been slightly better if we got a little more one on one interaction between the two of them. Even just one solid scene would be good.
I'll give the batch one thing, their success/failure rate is slightly better than I remembered, they are up to 3 successes and only 1 major failure
Frankly they should stop doing merc work though and just let Omega gamble her way through the galaxy.
SHOW A LITTLE GRATITUDE TO MY FRIEND. Cid is officially Affectionate towards this small child.
Another good character moment is Wrecker giving Hunter an EXTREMELY SERIOUS *TALK TO THE CHILD* LOOK
Really the main plot of this episode is a good breather but it really shines in tiny moments that make me Squeal a little. Just those little character interactions that I ADORE.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch: "Infiltration" & "Extraction"
Tumblr media
The Bad Batch join the clone revolution in an exciting two part story arc which marks the mid-way point for the series' final season.
In the shadows, Rex and his team of renegade clones have been working to spark the flames of rebellion against the Empire even if their efforts are often small in scale and always under threat. When one rendezvous between potential allies is attacked by a mysterious assailant, Rex and his crew gain their first hint towards locating the mysterious Mount Tantiss and their missing clone brothers. Hoping to finally find answers, Rex calls in the Bad Batch to consult on their newfound intel. However, the reunion, particularly between Crosshair and the many clones he betrayed during his time with the Empire, isn't an easy one, and that's before the Empire comes knocking.
While in many ways The Bad Batch is a character ensemble piece about one particular group of warriors finding their way in a quickly changing galaxy, its overarching narrative has always concerned the ultimate fate and future of the clones who were bred and fought for a Republic that no longer exists. The Batch themselves may serve as a microcosm of this story, but there's another equally important battle being fought in parallel to Clone Force 99's. Rex and his team of rebel clones have been an intriguing and important backdrop to this series for quite sometime and the two part mid-season story arc consisting of "Infiltration" and "Extraction" finally brings them into the forefront. In a way, I've appreciated that Jennifer Corbett and her team have held off on giving us too much of Rex and his team too early on. As important as they are to the larger Star Wars narrative and even the overarching mythology of The Bad Batch, this isn't really their show. Unlike their live action counterparts, Star Wars animation has a surprisingly good track record of allowing its series to interact with the broader franchise universe without losing track of its own narrative goals. Rex has become one of the saga's most beloved and recognizable characters and bringing him in too early on would have easily distracted from the necessary character work that had to be done for our central squad of misfits. That being said, I do appreciate that we finally get to spend some serious time with Rex and his team here. If we really are heading into the endgame of this series, the other squad of renegade clones are going to have to come to step out of the shadows a little.
Just in terms of methodology, it's interesting seeing how differently Rex's team functions in comparison to the Batch. While the Batch are known for big action and improvised missions, Rex and his team are much more methodical and deliberate. They aren't participating in smash and grab missions, but long term planning. The Batch are a reactive team while Rex is planning revolution.
It's gratifying to see how Rex's story is incorporating the many disparate plot threads left dangling from the show's first two seasons. Just getting Riyo Chuchi and former Separatist leader Avi Singh together in one room feels significant, but it's even more exciting to see Rex working alongside a smattering of clone survivors from earlier in this series and The Clone Wars. Howzer in particular is a standout here. His defiance of the Empire's actions on Ryloth back in season one was one of the show's most memorable moments from its early days and his stirring resolve and innate sense of justice continue here. Episodic writers Corbett, Brad Rau, and Matt Michnovetz also thankfully don't gloss the justified anger and betrayal that Howzer has to feel towards Crosshair and it ends up becoming the emotional heart of both episodes. While it may seem like faint praise, too rarely it feels like Star Wars feels more interested in establishing continuity of plot rather than ongoing emotional character arcs and one of the best aspects of this final season of The Bad Batch has been its commitment to acknowledging the emotional reality of even its recurring guest characters.
Crosshair continues to be a standout here and it's safe to say that, barring any majorly misguided plot twists, he isn't going to lose his position as the show's most interesting character anytime soon. The tension and eventual reconciliation under fire between him and Howzer makes for some of the most emotionally dramatic stuff of both episodes, but I also love the smaller character beats with Omega as well. Seeing her intentionally mimic Crosshair's tooth pick chewing mannerisms is such a smart and delightful touch and Crosshair checking in on Omega's combat readiness in the heat of battle adds to how we understand their sibling dynamic.
"Infiltration" & "Extraction" also finally start to give us some answers on those creepy assassins we first glimpsed last year. Crosshair floats that they are clones who are true believers in the Empire's cause and as a result have been trained and reconditioned to serve as ghostly tools for Hemlock's missions. This answer is serviceable, but it also feels a bit too simple. There has to be more bubbling beneath the surface here. Both episodes seem to be screaming at us that CX-2 in particular is someone of significance. It's rare for any show to put this amount of emphasis on a mysterious new villain and not have some sort of reveal or twist waiting for us down the line. I'm not sure how I feel about this. There's already quite enough happening in The Bad Batch's final season without having to deal with some former clone we're familiar with getting Winter Soldiered. Just please, don't let it be Tech. His sacrifice is meaningful on its own and would only be cheapened by having him turn into a brainwashed super-assassin.
Speaking of returning familiar clones, Wolffe arrives at the close of "Infiltration" to lead the Imperial strike team poised to shutdown Rex's operation. While I know Wolffe has his fans, I've never been particularly attached to him. Outside of his name and costume design, Wolffe has never really stood out much as a character. Sure it works to have a familiar clone balk at having to fight against insurgents who are also his former brothers in arms, Wolffe's role really could've been filled by any number of clones and one of the oddest missteps that this two parter makes is assuming that his entrance at the end of "Infiltration" is some sort of shocking twist.
That being said, the assault on Rex's base in the Teth monastery, which is a very fun call back to the earliest days of Star Wars animation, is a tense and suspenseful set piece that continues to push our ever shrinking team of survivors into a corner. The Clone Wars excelled at making the loss of clone soldiers feel like a genuine tragedy, but every fallen member of Rex's team is devastating. There are so few clones left and to have so many of these last few men gunned down in an attempt to save their brothers carries a real emotional weight.
Also, complete non-sequitur, but did we really have to name a clone Nemec when we already have a Nemik in Andor? I can't have been the only one that double-taked at that name drop. I was so prepared for one of the clones to inexplicably be a little anti-fascist boy in a floppy hat.
At the conclusion of both episodes both teams are forced to return to square one. Their resources are shattered and Rex is reminded yet again that he is fighting a devastating uphill battle against a seemingly unstoppable foe. The future isn't looking any brighter, but thankfully The Bad Batch is still firing on all cylinders.
"Infiltration" Score: A- "Extraction" Score: A-

Fuck it, I’m seeing a lot of talk about Echo being a picky eater recently and I think I want to add my two neurodivergent cents to it lol
Firstly, I think it’s important to note that Echo is autistic. I know this hasn’t been stated anywhere or anything, but listing out his character quirks makes it pretty clear.
He repeats orders, arguing with his batch when they don’t follow them, and worries about doing things wrong. This feels like a safety thing to me, almost like telling kids in class to be quiet when the teacher is talking for no other reason than it feels right and them breaking rules is stressful. (can you tell I’m speaking from experience cause this whole post will be me speaking from experience bkshsjsks)
He reads and memorizes the reg manuals, liking to be caught up on the latest versions. Again, this feels like a safety thing; him wanting to know how things will work ahead of time so he can be prepared in every situation.
He doesn’t like being wrong, like when we see him refusing to back down on thinking the Seperatists Senator’s distress call is a trap (Avi Singh I think?). Even when the evidence starts poking holes in his theory, he doesn’t want to let it go. I’m not sure how to explain how this relates to autism other than that fact that autistic people just don’t like being wrong? Like it’s just hard to admit that and it’s almost scary to change your mind like that sometimes? Idrk honestly, I’m DEFINITELY not an expert lol, just saying my piece
So many of Echo’s character quirks relate directly to autism, and all of them are things I strongly relate to. (yes this is why he’s my favorite shush)
But most of all is his picky eating. And uh, this might actually get a tad heavy here but I hope this can maybe share an accurate perspective on it?
Many autistic people are fairly picky eaters, something I’ve definitely struggled with since I was born. We see Echo being skeptical of food multiple times, especially when they’re new to him. We see him eating rations bars, which would be familiar, without a second thought, but new things he’s extremely hesitant to try.
With that in mind and the headcanon (kinda) that he’s autistic, this sounds a lot like ARFID to me.
ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) is tricky to describe since there’s nothing conscious to it, its just somewhat of a mental hurdle? Like there’s a point you just can’t cross no matter what, a bit like ADHD and executive dysfunction, expect a lot stronger lol. It’s pretty much just picky eating to the extreme that a person cannot control and just makes your choices extremely limited when it comes to food.
This makes it difficult (ahem, impossible) to do seemingly basic things like trying absolutely any new foods. There are a few safe ones, maybe even a category of foods that are almost completely safe (for me: most deserts or fruits), but anything outside of that is different, it’s new, and it does not feel safe. When I say picky eating to the extreme, I mean extreme. If I’m literally starving, haven’t eaten in way too long, but the only things available aren’t safe foods? Well too bad guess I’m not eating today 🤷 It’s not much of a choice, it’s just being trapped by your own neurodivergent brain 🫠🫠🫠
It can feel childish and incredibly alienating to constantly turn down new foods or restaurants, or to order the same thing every time from a restaurant, off the kids menu or with special requests, and I just think that piece is being missed in Echo’s picky eating. Now I’m not telling anyone to stop making it a humorous thing cause it totally is in the show, but hey, I’m always here for the angst potential :)
Like what if the reason Echo still looks malnourished after joining the batch is because his safe foods like typical rations just aren’t readily available after the Empire springs up? What if the batch is on shore leave and decide to go to a restaurant and Echo has to either turn them down and explain, or force himself to go and try to tough it out? What if one of the batch makes a joke about Echo’s picky eating, just trying to make conversation or something, but Echo just fully shuts down? Maybe even Domino would joke about it at first, until Fives learned better and started helping Echo, but uhoh now he’s gone and Echo has to figure things out all over again with a new batch 🥲
Is this a fictional character that was grossed out by foods like two times and I’m just heavily projecting onto? Yeah, sure, but hey, I’d love to see more people recognizing this side of it and maybe connecting with it too :)
@gentle-hero-blog thanks for letting me sob abt this literally the minute u got home bkshsjskk <3333

Echo and The Bad Batch
I've been rewatching TBB because I realised that I remembered very little of it and this time round I'm really picking up on Echo's role.
And by that, I mean that he feels underutilised (I very briefly mentioned this in a previous post).
As much as I love all of the members of TBB, Echo is my favourite, and a lot of that probably comes from an attachment built towards him over a longer period of time. But because he's my favourite, I tend to focus on him a bit more and sometimes it feels like he's just there.
I understand that S1 of TBB was to introduce us to the characters more, let us get to know them better. We already know Echo; we know who he is, what he's been through. So I can understand taking the focus off him a bit. I also understand that he's the odd one out of the group.
But I definitely don't feel like he's used to his full potential within the squad. Echo doesn't really have a specific role, his job is kinda similar to Tech's and because of that he doesn't necessarily stand out.
The thing is, we know that Echo is a brilliant tactician. He's good with strategies and could really flourish if he was given the opportunity. But that doesn't happen. He's a Reg, so he's used to strategies that the rest of TBB aren't necessarily on board with. There are some instances where had they listened to Echo, fewer things may have gone wrong. In the same way that Echo has had to adapt to the way the group do things, they should also adjust to allow Echo's full potential to be used.
And then there's Echo's trauma. This man has been to hell and back and sometimes it doesn't feel like the group really consider this. One moment that stands out is when they have to rescue Avi Singh, a separatist. Echo is clearly put off by this but TBB mainly point out his repeated complaints (part of which is just a habit of Echo's because you know, that's where the nickname comes from) but no-one thinks to ask him how he's doing. And then later Tech says that Avi being a separatist doesn't matter for their job to which Echo points out that it matters to him.
Yes, the whole group have had struggles due to the actions of the separatists, but it cuts so much deeper for Echo. Someone just needs to talk to him sometimes, ask him if he's really okay, because there's a lot of internal struggle that is brushed over by the rest of the team.
Obviously, Echo is still trying to incorporate into TBB. He's still the newbie. And I'm not sure that the slight barrier between him and the others will ever truly be gone because of their different backgrounds, but I hope that as the show progresses we begin to see TBB fully appreciating Echo and acknowledging what he's been through.

The seedy, unattractive area of Ord Mantell where Cid’s parlor was located seemed like a sight for sore eyes after everything they’d all been through. The warm climate and visually-polluted city landscape had begun to feel like a home, especially any time Omega would be perched on Wrecker’s shoulders as they shared a pack of Mantell Mix, more deserved than ever that time after what had felt like non-stop agony.
Sarah allowed herself to release tension when she walked into the parlor, her good arm linked around Hunter’s with the rest of the squad backing them up. Even the sight of Cid walking up to them with her usual scowl seemed friendly; Sarah felt compelled to run up to hug her, but restrained herself from doing so—Cid wasn’t the biggest fan of spontaneous hugs.
“Fellas, good thing that you’re back,” Cid was saying as she greeted them. “I’ve got a mission for ya, top priority—”
Cid stopped herself when her eyes landed on the cast around Sarah’s right arm, immediately glaring up at Hunter and flicking his shoulder pad.
“You’re supposed to look after ‘er, Bandana!” Cid scolded him.
“He’s been doing a good job of that,” Sarah caressed his bicep in support.
“Yeah,” Wrecker chuckled. “If anything, that broken wrist is my fault!”
Sarah stared blankly at the enormous clone.
“Too soon?” Wrecker scratched the back of his head.
“And not helping,” Sarah replied.
“Do I wanna know?” Cid asked her.
“A day in the life of a rogue squad of clones,” Sarah dismissed. “So, what mission are you talking about?”
“You ain’t goin’ on missions in that state, Strider,” Cid crossed her arms. “You’re sittin’ this one out.”
“I agree,” Hunter said lowly. “But I think we’re all sitting this one out, Cid.”
“That’s not how it works, Bandana,” Cid answered. “We’ve got a deal, and I’m sure this mission’s gonna be a piece of pie for all of you.”
The clones exchanged dubious looks, but finally let Cid proceed.
“I’ve got a call from Senator Avi Singh’s contact, he’s being held on Raxus and needs to be bailed out,” Cid said.
“Raxus?” Tech spoke with a hint of excitement.
“Absolutely not,” Hunter said, his tone final.
Tech looked at him, both pleading and disappointed. “Hunter… Raxus was the core of the Separatist confederation. We always talked about going there.”
“Emphasis on Separatist,” Echo countered.
“Emphasis on was,” Tech argued in his favor.
“I am not taking Omega to a planet swarming with imperial troops,” Hunter told Cid, putting Tech’s argument aside.
“Hey, Strider’s stayin’ here,” Cid said. “If you want, you can leave Tiny here too.”
“And what if I don’t trust you with my girls?” Hunter raised a brow.
“You shouldn’t,” Cid smirked. “Now you’re catchin’ on to the way the galaxy works outside the army. But ya know I like Strider and Tiny way more than I like all of ya combined, and that’s sayin’ something.”
“Isn’t that sweet, Hunter?” Sarah prompted, her hand giving Hunter’s a squeeze. “Look, if my wrist weren’t busted, I wouldn’t want to take Omega to Raxus. But we still have our debt and a job is a job. She and I are gonna be fine.”
Hunter sighed. “Sarah, how many times do we have to prove that we’re better together?”
“You’re the one who told me to sit this one out, implying you’d go,” Sarah chuckled. “We’ll be fine. If you don’t trust Cid with Omega, trust me.”
“I do trust you—”
“If I wanted to read a romance erotica novel, I’d pick one up from the back, now quit being all googly in front of all of us,” Cid grumbled. “You going on the mission or not?”
Hunter’s hesitation had only grown as the conversation went on, and Sarah could see it in his eyes as he looked back at his squad, of whom only Tech seemed to be on board with the mission to Raxus.
“Sarah, come,” Hunter told her as he took her hand and led her to the back of the parlor where their rooms had been set up. As he walked off with her, Sarah looked over her shoulder and met Echo’s gaze, realizing he was probably the least excited about Raxus.
As they went inside, Hunter sat on the bed that he’d claimed, his hands traveling up to his forehead, rubbing his skin as he groaned. Sarah watched him in silence as his usually stoic front shattered before her eyes; he’d been going on and on about how she and Omega needed a break, and while Sarah knew that was true, she figured Hunter needed one too.
“What is it?” She asked him as she took a seat next to him on the bed.
“I can’t,” Hunter answered. “Sarah, if I go to Raxus, I won’t be able to look after you or Omega.”
“We’re going to be safe here,” Sarah tried to convince him. “Nobody has traced us back here, there is no reason why something should go wrong. The Empire doesn’t come here either, and I’ve never told anyone where we’re based.”
“I know that logically nothing can go wrong, but I can’t help…” Hunter trailed off. “I lost it, Sarah. I used to be a good sergeant, now I don’t know what I’m doing half the time.”
Her features softened in sympathy as she reached out to take his hand. “You’re still a good sergeant, Hunter, but more importantly, you’re a good man. And look, way before me and Echo arrived, it was just you and three more, and you managed close to perfectly. I heard about your 100% success rate.”
“One of those three was Crosshair.”
Sarah had to hold in a gasp—it was the first time she’d heard Hunter be the one to willingly bring Crosshair up, but the gesture made her oddly hopeful.
“Well, then,” Sarah said. “What would Crosshair do?”
Hunter met her gaze. “He’d trust you.”
She gave him a sad smile, not having expected that. “He’d trust I too, just like he always would. And I trust you, Hunter, more than anyone.”
His lips curved up softly, and with no more words, Hunter leaned in to kiss Sarah, starting off soft until he finally obliged more and added depth, pushing her onto the bed. Sarah gave a pleased yelp, but she knew it wasn’t the best idea at the moment, not with everyone else outside on the verge of a mission.
“Hunter—” She stuttered. “Baby, you’re thinking with your second brain… you know, the one that’s down there—”
Hunter moaned into the kiss in his deep, husky voice, and he trailed hungry kisses down her jaw and her neck, making her melt in his arms until she brought a hand up to his lips, resting a finger gently on them.
“Believe me, I want to,” Sarah chuckled.
Hunter gave a soft laugh in return, and as he got a hold of himself, he sat up and helped Sarah up as well. “Sorry, Sarah.”
“Don’t worry, love,” she kissed his cheek. “I promise we’ll find a way to be alone together when you return. For now, let me stay here with Omega, I’ll make sure she’s safe.”
“And what about you?” He asked her.
“You’re my guardian and all, but we both know I can take pretty good care of myself,” she replied.
So long as inhibitor chips aren’t concerned, of course.
“I can hear your thoughts, ner cyar’ika,” Hunter chuckled. “But in any case, I trust you.”
They squeezed hands one more time before leaving the barracks to meet the rest of the squad, who’d taken a seat but got up as soon as they saw the couple entering the main saloon.
“We’re going,” Hunter stated his decision.
“I’m not going to help a Separatist,” Echo spoke up, angry, breaking his usual soft persona.
Hunter seemed hesitant. “I hate Separatists too, Echo. In any case, we’re only doing this to get paid and clear off our debt, not to be friends with him.”
“I don’t care,” Echo said. “He doesn’t deserve it.”
The room fell silent again, and while everyone understood that if anyone would hold the Separatists in such low regard it would be Echo, the truth lingered in the air that him not going wouldn’t be for the better.
“Echo,” Tech spoke up, his tone softer than it usually was. “We need you.”
Sarah felt her heart leaping at his words, finding them touching even though they weren’t directed at her, and she could see they’d had an effect on Echo as well. He looked like he was beginning to reconsider, but Sarah then remembered the state she’d found him in on Skako Minor. It was deplorable, and the thought of being near Separatists would in no way be easy for Echo.
“We can’t do much with only three of us,” Hunter said.
“Wait,” Omega cut in. “Three? But I’m going too, there’s going to be four of us.”
Hunter and Sarah exchanged a look, and Hunter finally kneeled down to be at Omega’s eye level. “Not this time, ad’ika.”
“You can’t keep pushing me aside for missions,” Omega’s eyes saddened.
Sarah walked past Hunter and stroked his shoulder in support while she took Echo’s hand and led him to one of the booths, sitting down across from him.
“Not you too,” Echo looked away.
“I’m not going to lecture you,” she said. “I know you’ve got a better reason than anybody to hate Separatists and I won’t try to sugarcoat the mission for you.”
“Then what do you want to tell me?” He asked.
Sarah sighed. “I’d love to tell you to stay here with me and Omega, but Tech’s right. They do need you, we all do.”
Echo looked up at her with a hint of remorse. “You really think so?”
“If we were to lack you for any reason, we’d be lost,” Sarah replied. “Me, especially.”
“We lost Crosshair,” Echo countered.
“Yeah, and we didn’t emerge triumphant from that loss,” Sarah broke it to him. “The second he was taken from us from the brig was the second we started losing fight after fight.”
“Then why aren’t you going?”
“Because all I’m gonna do is drag everyone down,” Sarah replied. “But you, you can help them reach heights they can’t alone.”
Echo paused and met her eyes again, thinking about what she said until she reached out and grabbed his hand with hers on the table.
“Echo, I’m not telling you all of this to make you go,” she said. “If you want to stay and sit this one out too, say the word, and I’ll handle Hunter. But don’t you dare doubt your place in this squad.”
He gave her a soft smile. “I need you too.”
Sarah gently squeezed his hand, her smile widening. “I need you more, Echo.”
Echo chuckled. “Alright, then. I’ll go. But, I’m going to complain every second of the trip.”
“I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Sarah said. “And, if you can, you could stage an ‘accident’ for this Separatist—”
“What is the matter with you—”
“I’m talking about making him trip or step in tooka shit or giving him the middle finger,” Sarah chuckled. “I’m not telling you to kill him and stage it as an accident.”
Echo’s eyes widened. “Can’t be too careful.”
Sarah raised a brow at him.
“Hey, you’re into Crosshair,” Echo said. “Moral grayness isn’t out of the question for you.”
“Thank you for coming to terms with it,” Sarah said with sarcasm.
Gently bumping their knuckles together, Sarah and Echo stood up and regrouped with the rest of the squad just as Hunter had finished talking to a defeated Omega. Echo joined the troopers while Omega joined Sarah, leaving her and Hunter to look at each other.
“Take care, will you?” She brushed his hand.
“We’ll be back soon,” he leaned in and gently kissed her.
Despite the separation, and how much it would have pained her to see them go on any other occasion, Sarah felt confident they’d be alright. It was the best and most optimistic gut feeling she’d had in a long time, and she decided to cherish the Force’s way of telling her all was well.
Besides, Sarah knew she needed to relax. She’d needed it for ages, and once the boys were out, Sarah rested a hand on Omega’s shoulder as the child yawned.
Sarah smiled at her. “You want to go to bed, darling?”
She gave a sad sigh. “I guess.”
“Hey,” Sarah told her. “Hunter and I agree that this is best for you.”
Omega’s big eyes met Sarah’s. “I just don’t like being treated like I’m helpless, because I’m not.”
“You’re right, you aren’t helpless, and no one thinks you are,” Sarah answered. “Hunter’s prouder than any of us at how much you’ve grown and stepped up. But you’ve been through a lot recently, and you need to take a break now and then to recover.”
Omega seemed to calm down a bit, leaving Sarah to kneel in front of her.
“If either of us is helpless, it’s me,” Sarah continued. “I can’t hold my rifle, I can’t use the Force in public, and I’d only be dragging everyone down. You would be helping them out a lot, but you need to know when to take a break.”
Omega gave her a little smile. “Does your wrist still hurt?”
“Not much,” Sarah smiled back. “Now come on, let me tuck you in.”
Sarah took Omega to the back and tucked her into one of the bunks, dimming the lights as much as possible to let her rest properly. Her gaze lingered on the way Omega’s little hand clutched one of Lula’s ears, her eyes closed and ready to sleep, until at last she left the room and returned to the bar where Cid was already waiting for her behind it with two glasses prepared.
“Drinks are on me, Strider,” Cid said. “We got a lotta catchin’ up to do.”
“I’d love nothing more than to get wasted, but I’m still on painkillers,” Sarah said as she took a seat across Cid. “Mind making mine non-alcoholic?”
Cid began pouring her an iced drink. “Yeah, I figured. You may wanna start with why you’re on painkillers in the first place. Did Muscles really do that to ya?”
Sarah took a sip of the fruity combination and sighed—the conversation she was about to have with Cid definitely required at least some percentage of alcohol, but alas, she’d have to make due with the cheerful blend.
“Where do I even begin,” Sarah said. “I don’t know if you knew about the inhibitor chips clones have in them, they’re these organic devices fused to their skulls that can modify their behavior.”
“I’ve heard a bit,” Cid finished pouring her own drink.
“Well, up until Rex came—”
“Blondie,” Cid affirmed.
“Yeah, him,” Sarah chuckled. “The guys still had theirs in, but Wrecker was getting a lot of headaches and we ultimately took it as a warning sign, so we went to Bracca. but when we were there, Wrecker’s chip activated and he…” Sarah shuddered at the memory, her voice hushing. “We barely survived, Cid.”
Cid gave a light nod, her face expressionless. “Sorry ‘bout that. Never would’ve thought him capable of that.”
“He isn’t,” Sarah answered. “That’s the whole point with these inhibitor chips, they’re means of manipulation, capable of forcing men into doing the most despicable atrocities.”
Sarah had set her glass down with a thud, glaring at the drink in front of her while Cid observed her. As she took a sip of her own whiskey, her gaze went to the table.
“I’m takin’ a shot in the dark here, but,” Cid began. “That what happened to your other friend? The one you went back for?”
Sarah nodded. “Yeah, his chip activated first, when the war ended. We could never get him back.”
“But you’re plannin’ on tryin’ again, right?” Cid said.
Sarah met her eyes. “Of course I do, I just don’t know how.”
“That’s not everything, kid,” Cid said. “You like this guy.”
Sarah tried to shake her head, ultimately looking away, and now Cid set her glass down to get her attention.
“Don’t try and deny it, I hear the way you talk about him,” Cid continued. “He’s not just your friend.”
“No,” Sarah said with melancholy. “No, he’s way more than that, infinitely more. He means everything to me.”
“What about Dark and Broody?”
“See why I need to get wasted?” Sarah groaned. “Hunter knows about this, he knows everything, and he’s told me he’s okay with it. I love him so much, I love both of them, but…”
“But?” Cid prompted.
“I’m an unstable, horny girl who likes three dudes,” Sarah covered her eyes.
“Well, kriff,” Cid laughed. “If it’s Muscles, you may need to be checked after he gave you the broken bone.”
“It’s not him, it’s—” Sarah hushed her voice. “It’s Tech.”
“GOGGLES?!” Cid boomed, erupting into laughter and pushing her drink away. “I must be drunk!”
“Laugh it all out,” Sarah groaned. “It’s not serious… we’ve had moments, but I have no idea what to make of it. I have enough to struggle with two men already.”
“Ya don’t say,” Cid finished laughing. “So, Bandana’s okay with not bein’ the only guy to hit on ya? What a major simp.”
“He’s selfless, and too kind for his own good,” Sarah said. “But we’ve talked about it more than once and his mind hasn’t changed.”
Cid took another gulp of her whiskey. “Look, Strider. You’re gonna make me gag with how cheesy this is gonna sound, but that’s some unconditional love right there. If you don’t know what to do about it when you get—” She trailed off. “I don’t have a nickname for the other fella, what’s he like?”
Sarah smiled, her features softening as she thought of him. “He’s beyond words. Incredibly tall, lean, dark, handsome, with silver hair and a crosshair tattoo over his right eye—don’t nickname him Crosshair, that’s his actual name. He has a wonderful, smooth voice, he’s the single best shot in the whole galaxy, and he’s so strong… so caring, so selfless, always looking out for others, and not just because his job is to be lookout. People overlook that about him, but Crosshair is kind, protective, in some ways, more than Hunter.”
Sarah chuckled. “He’s also the biggest prick ever. Snarky, smug, sarcastic—hey, you’d actually get along with him. He’ll give you a run for your money.”
“Twig it is,” Cid settled on a nickname for him.
“He’d hate that nickname,” Sarah laughed.
“I don’t care,” Cid took another sip of her whiskey. “Anyway, for now at least, you could settle for the fact that Bandana will be there for you no matter what. Hold onto that, it ain’t easy to find, and not everyone can.”
“Oh, no,” Sarah cooed. “Is there a tragic love story behind the legendary Cid?”
Cid rolled her eyes. “Dudes, schmudes. You date a couple of ‘em and you get tired of their bullshit. What I’m sayin’ is, Dark and Broody’s bein’ honest with you, he’s fine with you likin’ the Twig, so don’t waste your energy overwhelming yourself with that. Focus on gettin’ your friend back, then you figure out what to do.”
Sarah smiled. “Cheers to your good advice.”
“Who’d you expect to give the good advice around here, Muscles?” Cid laughed. “Now, enough about that. Tell me about your days as a pirate.”
Sarah chuckled. “Ah, what a load of stories I have from those days. You’re familiar with the Ohnaka gang, right?”
“You worked with Hondo?” Cid raised her brow muscles. “The biggest goofball of a pirate?”
“He’s a goofball, alright, but he had his moments when he was plain scary,” Sarah said. “That scoundrel. He’s ruthless, but to me, he was always like an odd, distant cousin. He took good care of me, anyway.”
“What were ya doin’ with him?”
Sarah sighed. “I was running away from grief. I’d just lost another trooper, the first one I fell in love with, and it was too unbearable.”
“Tch,” Cid scoffed. “What’s it with you and clones?”
“Hey, if the Kaminoans didn’t want everyone falling in love with the clones, they shouldn’t have cloned the hottest man in the galaxy,” Sarah said.
Cid rolled her eyes. “So you’ve been with them a while.”
“Since the start of the war,” Sarah smiled. “Echo and I actually go way back, and he was the reason I came back after being a pirate.”
“Sounds like quite the journey you’ve had,” Cid said.
Sarah couldn’t help but sigh. “Yeah.”
Cid smiled softly as she noticed Sarah had finished her drink, pondering on everything she’d just shared with her. She then removed the glass and put it on the back, facing Sarah again.
“I think you need to get some sleep too,” she said.
“Yeah, I could really use it,” Sarah answered.
“Go on, then,” Cid gestured at her customers. “I promised those two dummies a couple of rounds of dejarik anyway.”
“Don’t bet too many credits,” Sarah chuckled as she got up. “And thanks for listening. I knew you had a heart.”
“Tell anyone, and I’ll raise your debt by 1500 credits,” Cid said.
Sarah laughed. “It’s safe with me, I promise.”
She got up and went back to the bunk rooms, finding Omega still asleep on Hunter’s bunk. Despite how calm she’d been when she fell asleep, the kid was now frowning and stirring in her sleep, with her hand clutching Lula even closer to her.
The poor thing, she really had been through a lot, but Sarah found solace in the fact that she was safe now, and prayed that the worst was finally behind them. With that intent, Sarah crawled into her own bunk and covered herself up with the sheets as exhaustion hit her, and in no time, she fell asleep.
She woke up hours later to the sound of obnoxious hooting and cheering, instantly recognizing such noise was alien in a lowkey cantina like Cid’s. Fearful of whatever the commotion could be, Sarah looked around the barracks and realized Omega wasn’t there anymore, and in a rush to find her, she panicked as she left the room.
As expected, Sarah was met with a sea of people all focused around one of the dejarik tables. Facing Sarah was a random dude she didn’t know, nor did it matter much who it was up until Sarah realized Omega was sitting across from him, with Cid sitting beside her cheering her on.
Sarah shoved her way through all the people and glared at Cid. “What in the flying fuck is happening?!”
“Watch your language in front of your adopted daughter!” Cid barked back, covering Omega’s ears for a moment, grinning again when she uncovered them. “This kid’s amazing! She hasn’t lost a single game—” Cid leaned closer to Sarah, “and she’s makin’ us some big bucks!”
“You’re making her bet?!”
“She’s the one who decided to gamble!” Cid absolved herself. “Besides, she’s gifted. See for yourself!”
“Omega?” Sarah called out to the kid, who lifted up a finger for Sarah to let her concentrate on the dejarik match.
With a couple buttons pressed, and seemingly effortless, Omega utterly destroyed her opponent and got rid of the remaining two holographic pieces on his side, and the crowd around them went ballistic. Omega then looked up at Sarah with an excited grin; Sarah would cherish that gleam in Omega’s eyes even if she’d just helped Wrecker explode any random object he felt like condemning.
Given recent events, even considering the time they’d known each other for, it was the happiest Sarah had ever seen her. Omega felt proud of herself, she felt she was doing something worthwhile, and Sarah was not about to take that away from the kid. Sarah didn’t even have to pretend when she smiled back; she was happy to, for once, see Omega acting like a normal kid wanting her mother’s support.
Sarah would overlook the gambling part for a moment, that would be Hunter’s problem.
But there were still other matters at hand that had determined Omega’s staying in Ord Mantell in the first place. Sarah leaned down next to Cid, whispering so as to not shatter Omega’s illusion.
“You realize she’s got two bounty hunters after her now, right?” Sarah said. “She needs to keep a low profile. We should start getting these people out of here to not attract more attention to her.”
“Relax, Strider, the kid’s havin’ fun and there’s been no sign of danger ‘til now,” Cid chuckled.
“How did this even start, anyway?” Sarah asked as she watched Omega gracefully playing against her next opponent.
“Tiny saw me playing against those two losers and it turns out she’s got a knack for strategy,” Cid explained. “Ya may wanna tell Dark and Broody to use that to all your advantages.”
“And how much has she made?” Sarah raised a brow.
“So far, ‘bout 1600 credits,” Cid said casually.
Sarah slammed her hand over her heart. “What?!”
“I’m tellin’ ya, she’s gifted! Now try and show a bit of support, will ya?”
As much as Sarah wanted to be supportive, she knew that Hunter would flip as soon as he found out—and as if that thought had been caused by their Guardian bond, Hunter and the rest of the squad walked in through the door and looked around at all the people gathered around the show. Hunter’s disapproval was evident, and Cid began to shoo the people outside of the parlor.
Hunter approached Sarah, not angry, but clearly concerned. “Wanna tell me what happened here?”
“In my defense, I was asleep,” Sarah shrugged, wrapping her arms around his waist. “I missed you.”
Hunter hugged her back and kissed her forehead. “I missed you too. Could you rest?”
Sarah nodded as she snuggled into his armored chest. “How was the mission?”
“We did what we had to,” he leaned his cheek on the top of her head, but let her go when Cid approached them.
Though Hunter held a great deal of respect—and gratitude—for Cid, he was frowning at her. After that, Hunter’s gaze drifted over to Omega, and while he didn’t frown at her, he was clearly unhappy.
“I told you to keep a low profile,” Hunter said.
Omega’s eyes saddened instantly, and Sarah couldn’t help but intervene. She leaned over Hunter’s shoulder and held his bicep, calming him down.
“Hey, cut her some slack,” Sarah said. “All she did was find something to do, and Cid made sure no one or nothing suspicious came into the cantina. Nothing bad happened.”
“Understatement of the eon,” Cid scoffed. “Ya wanna know what Tiny did today, Bandana? She won enough credits to pay off your debt.”
Everyone’s face, including Hunter’s, lit up in awe.
“That’s right!” Cid continued. “Not only is Tiny a great dejarik player, she also struck a deal that would benefit you all. So instead of scoldin’ her, ya may wanna thank her.”
Cid walked off along with the rest of the batch leaving Sarah to stay with Hunter and Omega. Sarah shot a quick glance over her shoulder at Echo, who seemed to be doing fine, a good sign after how hesitant he’d been to go on the mission. Sarah smiled softly, proud of Echo and how far he’d come since they rescued him from Skako.
When everyone else disappeared behind the back of the bar, it was just Sarah, Hunter, and Omega next to an unfinished game of dejarik, looming beside them in its own abandonment. Sarah knelt down next to Omega and gave the child a reassuring pat on her shoulder, and the child took a deep breath before braving up to Hunter.
“I know you kept me here so I could have a break,” Omega said. “But I wanna be out there with you, helping you guys out. That’s what I joined this squad for, Hunter… and you’re stuck with me for the long run too.”
Hunter quickly glanced at Sarah, and using only her eyes, Sarah insisted that he listened to Omega. His lips then curved into a soft smile and he finally looked back at the girl.
“I’m glad to be stuck with you,” Hunter said. “Now, did you really pay off our debt?”
Omega sighed. “I wanted to feel useful, Hunter, even if I wasn’t on the missionl.”
His smile became fatherly and he took a seat to restart the dejarik match, glancing back at Omega.
“If you’re so good at striking deals, then,” Hunter said. “One match. If you win, you don’t sit out on missions anymore.”
Omega grinned and jogged over to the table, taking a seat across Hunter, and Sarah felt her heart doing somersaults in her chest. It wasn’t just the fact that Omega was so confident in her abilities, but the fact that Hunter knew she was going to beat him. Smiling brightly at the scene, Sarah watched as Hunter did his best, and even then, he was no match for the little kid, not in any sense of the term.
After Omega had practically mopped the floor with Hunter in that dejarik match, it was official that she wouldn’t sit out on any more missions, and the rest of the night was a good one for the batch, all of them finally getting the chance to rest and recharge together.
When it wasn’t too late into the night, Hunter took Sarah’s hand and led her from the bar to the door, a soft smile on his lips.
“You’re up to something,” Sarah muttered.
He gave her a smirk that could melt her into a puddle. “I saw a motel on the way here.”
Sarah laughed, pleasantly surprised. “So you took my words to heart. I hope that wasn’t your only drive for completing that mission, or is that why you returned so soon?”
“Oh, Sarah,” Hunter crooned, pinning her to the wall of the staircase that separated the cantina from the street. “You have to understand that with my heightened senses, the second brain is extra strong.” Pressing his body against hers, Hunter nuzzled her head and inhaled her scent, feeling himself getting tighter at the codpiece. “What do you say?”
“Well, I can’t do very much with my broken arm,” Sarah giggled.
Hunter laughed quietly, his lips hovering barely over hers, purring, “Then let me take the lead, sweetheart.”
With a sinful quiver between her legs, Sarah let herself be led by Hunter down the streets as she hurriedly typed a message to Echo’s comm frequency: don’t wait up for us. Confident that things would be alright, it wasn’t long until they arrived at the motel, a sight far more decent and appealing than Sarah had initially expected.
Hunter paid the fee and got the key to their room, and with an arm romantically draped around Sarah’s waist, he led her down the hall. But neither one of them could cold in their lust, and they began to kiss down the hallway, stumbling, until Hunter pinned her to the wall, not paying mind how far from their room they were.
The kiss was so fiery that Sarah feared they couldn’t go much further in public without being arrested. Aching between her legs, feeling her delicate underwear already soaking, Sarah tugged on Hunter’s hands to get him to move again. They hurried to the room, where Sarah turned the lights on to check its state while Hunter closed the door and the drapes.
When Sarah sat on the bed, she felt Hunter’s heavy, craving gaze on her, and lustful as it was, it still held that distinctive note of tender love that Hunter felt for her.
“You’re so beautiful,” he said with a faint smile.
“Really?” Sarah teased. “How so?”
Hunter chuckled and walked over to the bed, cupping her jaw and kissing her passionately while slowly pushing her down to the mattress. “You look so innocent… so mine.”
Sarah whimpered as his lips sent sweet shocks down her entire body. Without breaking the kiss, Hunter removed his armor until he was down to his undersuit, and he carefully helped remove Sarah’s clothing and jewelry until she was naked underneath him, his gaze gliding over her figure.
Pausing his cravings, Hunter helped adjust Sarah’s arm to a comfortable angle, and at last, he was kneeling in front of her on the mattress, ready to worship her. Hunter first reached to remove the bandana from his head, letting his curls fall more loosely, proceeding to remove his undersuit until he was naked too, towering over her as she couldn’t help but whimper at his beauty.
Sarah could notice, due to the lamp brightening his features, that his pupils had dilated. His gaze was hungrier than she’d ever seen it, raw and sensual, and slowly, Hunter lowered himself over her body as he took a long inhale.
“You smell incredible,” his voice was low and husky.
Sarah whimpered again, and she lifted a hand to delicately run a finger and trace his tattoo, its trail going down the markings’ silhouette down his neck, his shoulder, his arm. Hunter’s eyes met hers; all he needed was one more word, one gesture of approval and he’d make her see stars.
“You can start,” Sarah whispered.
With that, Hunter pressed his body fully on hers, the warmth of his skin clashing onto her as he hungrily kissed her lips, allowing his tongue to brush hers, taking his time as though he were trying to memorize every part of it. Sarah draped her good arm around his back and held him even closer to her as the smooth friction of his tongue on herse drew a moan from her. Hunter growled at the sounds she made, more aroused than she ever thought possible, and he began to grind his hips against her body.
Hunter’s kisses then traveled around her jaw, down her chin, and he once again took his time with her neck, nibbling and sucking on her and generously leaving marks on the softest spots of her skin, having her helplessly whining under him.
He traveled down her body, giving her breasts attention with his kissing, ravishing in their softness and their warmth—her breasts were some of his favorite parts of her. He gently licked and pinched her nipples and delighted Sarah by growling more; she felt every growl of his would nearly throw her over the edge, and he hadn’t even arrived between her legs yet.
She thought of how soft and loving he’d been back on Jedha, how different it was now, his lust taking over his more caring side—and she loved it.
Whereas he’d taken his time until then, the scent of slick between her legs became too delicious, to sweet to ever think of resisting, and Hunter hurried down her torso with a sloppy trail of kisses until he was down between her legs, tracing his tongue over her folds without hesitation so he could finally feast on her arousal. He let out a low groan and worked his tongue over her clit, at times switching to slide his tongue down her entrance while Sarah grasped Hunter’s beautiful curls with her good hand, tugging on them just the way he loved.
Gradually, Sarah’s small whimpers turned into unrestrained moans; the guests at the motel would hear her, but she didn’t care. The pleasure shooting through her body was immense, it made her toes curl and her back arch as her thighs clenched around Hunter, who growled into her, still drinking every drop of her, savoring how her flesh felt on his tongue.
When her body finally relaxed onto the mattress, Hunter crawled up to her level, breathing heavily, positioning his cock at her entrance and pushing himself in slowly. They moaned in unison as Sarah got accustomed to his girth, already moaning and praising him.
“How’s that feel, my love?” Hunter whispered.
Sarah grinned seductively at him. “Please, start, Hunter…”
He chuckled and kissed her lips lovingly. “As you wish, my queen.”
The first pull-out was amazing, and then his thrusts began at a luscious pace that gradually built up in speed and strength. Hunter kept eye contact with Sarah as his cock slid deliciously in and out of her walls, and he used his thumb to keep rubbing circles around her clit, bolting her rise to the edge again.
Wanton, Sarah wrapped her legs around his waist to make him go deeper into her and moaned out his name. Hunter struggled to regain enough composure to speak, enchanted by the way his name sounded when she said it that way, until at last, he was able to breathe her name out as well, looking deep into her astonishing, nebulous eyes.
Sarah couldn’t handle how intoxicating everything about Hunter was. His eyes, his scent, his hair, his voice, his movements… She felt herself drowning in him, in the ecstasy he created; she pulled him closer and rested his forehead on hers, staring back into his beautiful brown eyes.
“Sarah…” He whimpered. “I’m close.”
She moaned and bit her lip, aching for the feeling of his warm seed between her legs. “Cum inside me, Hunter…”
“Let me…” Hunter grunted. “Fuck, let me… let me fill you up, Sarah… please…”
“Breed me, Hunter…” Sarah blurted as the pleasure bled to every corner of her body again. “Fill me… Fill me up…”
“Sarah, fuck!” Hunter moaned out, his hips snapping at an inhuman pace.
She grinned, pleased at the effect of her words. “I see how you look at me, Hunter… I know you want to put a baby in me.”
“Fuck—” Hunter’s eyes rolled back. “I do—fuck!”
Her good hand trailed up to Hunter’s cheek, her touch soothing him enough to look her in the eyes. His pace slowed down, but it felt just as exquisite; Sarah smiled at him as she planted several kisses along Hunter’s features.
“Hunter… My Hunter…” she kissed up his jaw, her lips hovering just above his ear for her to whisper, “My Guardian.”
Upon her words, Sarah and Hunter reached their climaxes at the same time, moaning long and kissing each other, parting their lips only to call each other queen and guardian. At last, Hunter’s cock twitched inside of her, and Sarah felt as his hot cum filled her to the rim, after which he collapsed next to her, still coating her bare, sweaty skin in kisses until he was just too exhausted to stay awake.
Sarah gazed into her Guardian as he slept peacefully beside her, smiling at him even though he was oblivious to the utter joy he bestowed on her. She kissed his forehead with as much sweetness as she felt for him and lay there long enough to catch her breath, until she finally felt strong enough to get up and clean herself before turning the lights of the room off.
Finally, Sarah went to curl up against him, finding the perfect spot in the galaxy to find blissful dreams.

Episode 10 - Common Ground
I remember how many problems this one caused lmao
All this gawjus lighting for tbb. And in here they have an Indian man who's dressed like britain is still colonizing India and they have an Asian woman with blue eyes who calls the tanks on a crowd of civilians
Omg a model from mandalore
They couldnt even give this dude actual brown eyes what do these people have against brown eyes like what. Why the fuck are they gellow
Avi Singh is just a regular name. This is that thing that white sci Fi writers do where they just supplant living cultures onto sci-fi ppl bc they think it's all exotic enough not to break immersion like they'd never name a guy in here Michael.
Although. In the clone wars there were two characters named Julia and Joseph. They I think had Indian accents.
What is this monocle sticking to
Yeah I can see why this scene would piss people off. This is the difference between like andor writers being inspired by irl politics like Palestine vs these guys just. Not being sensitive? Ig? Like as a series tbb is just very unaware of what time period and social climate it's being released in. Theres to me v little of like a central theme to this so it just feels like they're gliding along and then they remember they're in a tumultuous time period and then they take a sec to talk about it
So they can just walk around in armor
Pls the way wreckers mouth opened
Pls she almost crashed into tech
"she seems fine to me" I went into detail on discord so I'm just gonna. Not say anything

The writers really love the word egress
Um. This was violent. For no reason. You couldnt stun this clone? It was the punch and slamming his head into a bunch of shit? No like what was the point of the wall slam???? The writers hate regs atp
"I'm good at strategy" I'm not saying she's not but I'm struggling to remember the evidence for this
Wine cellar
