You know what is the most tiktok bullshit I really REALLY hate? That if you don't do protection before you call a deity you will attract a evil spirit or whatever. Dude. When christians pray to their God they need to protect themselves? No. So why we need? are our Gods bad? So no, if you are a baby witch and want to talk to X deity, go for it!!!! Light a candle, do a prayer, talk to them. Do what YOU can do, based on YOUR life because ages ago pagans and witches just did it, there wasn't any rules, you would do what you could based on your life and mostly would be secret. I'm so tired to see people sad because they want to talk to a deity, or start deity work but people made them feel like they should, first, be a encyclopedia and know 10o023i990498903802 things to even, idk, light a candle?? Maybe for THAT person, it doesn't felt like they should do deity work in the beginning and that's fine!, but this doesn't apply to everyone man, there's people that started witchcraft WITH deity work with the help of their deity so please STOP putting your rules as some kind of mandatory thing because this doesn't exist, every path are unique and everybody should respect this.

story time!

so one day i was feeling bad about my appearance and looking in the mirror, and imagined aphrodite comforting me. that night when i went to bed, a woman appeared to me in my dream and helped me feel better about myself. i couldn’t see her face or tell what she looked like, but something told me it was aphrodite. when i woke up, i looked in the mirror and suddenly felt better about my body. lately i’ve been feeling more positive things about my appearance, and now i like to associate self-love with aphrodite.

i’m new to hellenism, but the gods have so far brought me comfort and helped me feel safe in my own skin. it’s kinda like a supportive family(kind of?) it’s really nice. :)

¿Qué es el politeísmo helénico? Y un paseo por los términos mas importantes.

Una de las preguntas que mas me hacen cuando empiezan a sentir interés, así que para comenzar con el blog, decidí hablar sobre como empezar en esta religion que en lo personal me hace tan feliz Pero para empezar, primero hay que saber qué es. El politeísmo helénico en su forma más básica, es una religión basada en la antigua Grecia, generalmente específicamente en la Grecia clásica, que se encuentra aproximadamente entre los siglos VI y V a. C.

Muchos politeístas helénicos basan su religión en la de Atenas clásica o simplemente en la región de ática, la religión urbana de Atenas y ática en general ha sido una especie de foco de atención de los clásicos y básicamente esto se debe a que hay muchas fuentes primarias de ese período, y hay muchas excavaciones, estudios arqueológicos, textos seminales, etc. Pero quiero aclarar que la religion es algo personal, y que construyas algo que no se parezca a los atenienses esta bien, solo hay que tener algunas similitudes en la forma en que vemos la práctica de la religión en la antigua Grecia. Por lo que voy a entrar en algunos conceptos y valores clave que generalmente se encuentran en el helenismo.

Cuando empieces tu investigación, te vas a encontrar con lo que la gente llama los cuatro pilares de helenismo y solo quiero señalar que esto no se ve históricamente en el helenismo en absoluto. Los cuatro pilares se basan en Platón y, aunque Platón fue un filósofo extremadamente influyente y estudiante de Sócrates, los escritos realmente iban en contra de lo que la gente pensaba de la religión en ese momento, por lo que algunas personas encuentran útiles estos conceptos y estos pilares, pero no son reglas. Sin embargo, hay un conjunto común de valores que se pueden encontrar en el helenismo y estos son de naturaleza homérica, lo que significa que provienen de las obras de homero como la Ilíada y la odisea, como lo son Xenia y Kharis, que en mi opinion son los conceptos mas importantes en el helenismo.

Xenia: La Odisea es un ejemplo enorme de Xenia. Pero básicamente, Xenia es hospitalidad, la relación huésped/anfitrión protegida por Zeus Xenios. Xenia requiere que no le demos la espalda a aquellos que están necesitados e indefensos, ya que Zeus Xenios nos obliga a ser familiares con los extraños ya que se encuentran en una posición vulnerable. 

Kharis: Es la reciprocidad, es ese dar y recibir. La relación que construimos con los dioses se basa en este termino, es un "si me ayudas con esto, yo te doy esto" y esto ayuda a construir una mejor relación con ellos.

Otros conceptos importantes son Eusebia y Asebeia, que vendrían a ser piedad e impiedad, esto es un poco difícil de definir porque muchas veces lo que se consideraba piadoso e impiadoso lo dictaba la ciudad-estado en la que se encontraba, por lo que uno puede ver la piedad como algo que agrada a los dioses, mientras que la impiedad es algo que les ofende.

¿Qué son las cosas que ofenden a los dioses? Cosas que son impuras cosas como lima, miasma y agos mucho la gente ha oído hablar de miasma, pero no mucha gente ha oído hablar de lima o agos.

Lima: es esa suciedad literal, es por eso que hay tanto énfasis en lavarse las manos y bañarse antes de acercarse a los dioses. Simplemente es lavarse las manos.

Miasma: es el estado de impureza ritual. Miasma es una contaminación espiritual y una energía sutil que puede describirse como el aura persistente de impureza que varias cosas y acciones dentro del reino material de la generación que transgreden la Ley Natural pueden producir y contaminarse.

Agos: Es el enojo de los dioses por un crimen terrible, como el asesinato.

Otro concepto importante a saber son los juramentos, nunca tomes los juramentos a la ligera, ya que lo que se hace no se puede deshacer.

Después otro termino es el de las entidades ctónicas y aarónicas, siendo las ctónicas las que están bajo la tierra, y los seres aarónicos son los que son del cielo, aunque hay algunos seres que poseen ambos aspectos. Todo esto es un tema que tratare en otro blog, lo que me lleva al siguiente punto:

¿Hay reglas en el helenismo?

Si y no, las reglas básicas son ser piadoso y no ser impío, pero para la religión común, la mayor parte se remonta a no violes a xenia, no rompas tus juramentos, no abuses de los suplicantes, por los dioses, no cometas agos, trate de acercarse a los dioses mientras está limpio, enterrar a los muertos, no robar de los templos, no comas de las ofrendas, etc. No son cosas muy difíciles.

Ahora si, no quería dejar de recomendar lecturas, porque si bien los blogs son buenos, no hay que dejar de acercarse a la teoria, y aunque lamentablemente mucha de esta esta en ingles, tratar de leerlo con el traductor si no sabes puede ser una ayuda. Lo que recomiendo para empezar es:
