A customer just came into the store, asked what i was making (knitting a square for my handspun scrap blanket), and then told me it was very impressive to see people practicing dead crafts, and that it must be hard to recreate it from old manuscripts and museum pieces.

She left before i could say its not a dead craft--it's still being improved on and practiced by more people than one might think !

So I just watched the school for good and evil movie, mostly for Kit Young, and the two main girl characters essentially recreated the main story beats of the scene from beauty and the beast where belle’s love saves the beast, complete with a kiss on the lips, only to then reiterate that their love is “best friends only” AND I just went in the tag to find out that in the books these two girls are SIBLINGS?????? I think this is the most convoluted case of queer baiting I have ever experienced and my head is SPINNING netflix pls you’re going to give the kids watching this a COMPLEX

As a full time Live Action Remake Hater I'm almost infuriated that I legitimately liked the new Little Mermaid. I was dragged there going "ok fine but I get to roast it the whole time" and the roasts got fewer and fewer. Some bits (like Daveed Diggs attempts at a Caribbean accent) still were meh but like. I legit???? Liked it??? And really liked changes made??? I'm not all "omg you guys go see it" but I guess its my endorsement that it isn't a groan fest (minus...the scuttlebutt... petition to get Lin Manuel to stop putting his nerdy hip-hop in I don't hold being cringe against him but sometimes...someone has to put a hand over his and tell him to stop it.)

I can't quite place my finger on the difference but the other remakes have felt like "we're IMPROVING it and updating to modern sensibilities by addressing every stupid Buzzfeed Listicle style criticism" and this felt more like just a different way to tell the (Disney version) of the story.
