[Anne is visiting her parents]
Oum: Anne, it’s good to see you.
Anne: You too Mom. Is Dad here? I need to ask him some gamer stuff to have a good idea what to get Mar-Mar for her birthday soon.
Oum: Oh well he invited your girlfriends to his cardio class so they’ll be back in a bit.
Anne: “Cardio”? Why are they doing that exercise? I mean, Sash has her own exercise routine but I didn’t know she added to it.
Oum: I probably should’ve warned you about this earlier but the women in our family tend to have a lot of stamina…in bed, if you know what I mean,
Anne: ugh, Mom!
Oum: I’m just saying, we tend to wear our partners out and so they try whatever they can in order to be able to keep up with us. At least you have two partners who can sub in when one’s exhausted.
Anne: Okay, I didn’t need to hear this! I just wanted gift advice, not sex advice!
Oum: It’s my fault for not telling you when you started dating back then, hopefully you don’t make the same mistake when you have a daughter.
Anne: I’m leaving, I’m gone now, I’ll just text Dad later!
[Anne rushes out the door]

If Marcy met Andrias again in the timeskip, how do you think their interaction would go?
Honestly, that's very much so a dealer's choice sort of thing. That's not even a bad thing. Part of why I think the Amphibia fandom has felt like it's stayed alive better post its finale than TOH's, especially without resorting to mostly writing about OCs in one way or another, is that the cast is dynamic enough by the end for a plethora of options. Sasha will always have her manipulative lessons of old but how does that mix with her as a therapist? Does she fear them? Use them when not on the job? How do those experiences dictate how she helps her clients? Or maybe even use those manipulative tactics on her clients to force them into corners that require them to be honest with themselves in order to grow. And those are only all of the positive sides of ONE element of Sasha growing into a more mature version of herself.
Marcy is similar, despite how little we get of her in the show. She already had so much promise and such complicated feelings about relationships that it's a good question how she sees others now. Is she happy about her community around her webcomic, freely interacting with them and sharing their love? Does she think they see her as a commodity and lives in fear of the day she presents an idea they dislike and they vanish? Much like she probably feared her friends would do if she ever pushed too hard with her interests? Or does she keep them at arm's length, just focusing on the creation of her comic and interacting with her community as she needs to but keeping them out of her mind mostly?
And this is all preamble to the point that how she reunites with Andrias is kind of dealer's choice. Not just with Marcy but also with Andrias. After all, while he obviously should feel guilty and remorseful, those are painful emotions that manifest in a lot of different ways. Does he try to seek forgiveness from her? Does he believe forgiveness is possible? Does he avoid her, even if assured that she holds no ill will towards him, because he believes himself to truly hurt Marcy too much? After all, what he did was reprehensible and he knew how terrible it was the entire time. Not only that but time obviously eroded Andrias to the point where much of the evil he'd committed was almost easy for him. If not as simple as breathing at times. Do you ever trust yourself with that again, let alone if Marcy IS willing to forgive?
(Petty sidenote: THAT is how you write a character who has the right to believe they shouldn't get involved no matter what. By having them have actively chosen wrong in the past and done so all too easily and so they don't know if they can trust themselves. That they themselves don't know if they won't fall into temptation again because they have shown themselves to be weak before.)
And again: IF Marcy is willing to forgive. Marcy never went through the same arcs that Anne and Sasha did. While she has a kind enough heart to be forgiving by her base nature, she might not be willing to do so for this. That might even be what Andrias would prefer. He practically comforted himself through believing Lief had given up on him after all because it made his evil easier to do. If Marcy hates him, his self imposed exile and hermitage that the end hints he's gone on to do will feel all the more justified and correct to him.
Or maybe they're not on the same wavelength and Marcy is furious at him and that catches him off guard. That Marcy has grown up so independent and better equipped to defend herself makes her all the angrier at him when he was still expecting young Master Marcy who might accept his apology and want to hear about what he's learned in her absence. Maybe she is willing to forgive him but he actually gets enraged at that? Instead of avoiding her, in fact playing the bad guy briefly again to explicitly see about trying to make the lesson he thinks she should have learned stick. That not everyone can be good. Let alone him.
The way Amphibia ends is ripe with questions like this that a series post time skip could easily draw upon. Hell, if they were okay with retconning the ending, we only see Amphibia couple years after the events of the show, not the full ten so we could pull in the girls as older teenagers or just barely 18 for a second visit. It would still be different than the full ten years version of them and seeing them inbetween their fully mature adult counterparts and them at 13 trying to handle what the lessons they learned mean for themselves could be neat.
I do want to make something clear though: I consider all this open space, all this stuff they could do in the future a STRENGTH of the ending. The ending itself is still very powerful and great for the series itself and I wouldn't want them to have tried to touch on these complexities and muddy the water or the like. Not only that but having these questions less highlights flaws with the ending and more to me highlights the strength of the character writing. That we can ask such large questions about how a scene like that would go down, the fact that a definitive answer is close to impossible without more details on the older selves, is GREAT for fanfic writers, comic creators, etc.
It also will continue to make my eye twitch since even with me wanting to do monster themed stories for Amphibia and knowing all this potential space exists, my brain STILL won't let me just dive in. *sigh*

"Ooh, look! Another Amphibia critique from Schmuck!"
Yeah, yeah, blame Twitter. This one came to me last night because of a post and it's been stewing in my brain ever since.
I'm learning more and more that nothing causes an Amphibia fan to foam at the mouth more than when you tell them that the first season is mostly filler.
Cause here's the thing: I've seen that first season THREE times. And every time, it felt like a chore to get through as I'm forced to watch characters go on silly adventures as the show dangles this carrot on a stick in front of your face, promising something interesting with a grander story.
"Ooh, look! Something's going to happen with the music box!"
"Ooh, look! Sasha's here and she means business!"
"What will come of this? Tune in next time to find out!"
And when you tune in next time, you're met with Anne and Sprig pretending to be cops or the town having a literal shipping war. And sure, that can be funny, but when you promise a grander story and take too long to get to it, it leaves people WANTING that story feeling a little disappointed.
Or worse: Annoyed.
Even MORE worse: Angry.
And when you bring up that season one is mostly filler, you're given the usual three responses:
"It's to build the world and develop characters!"
"It's starting off fun to suck people in before getting darker like [Insert show here]"
"[Insert show here] had a first season that was mostly filler and people loved THAT. Y'all just hating."
And those are good arguments, but there's also good counters to all of them.
Infinity Train is a series that has a new cast of characters every season, each one having only thirteen episodes to grow and develop while showing off the world around them. The writers make each episode count though, not wasting time as every goofy adventure the characters go on it either reveals something about themselves or about the lore of the train. You can absolutely let characters go and do something silly for ten minutes AND have it feel like the plot and development of the world and characters are moving forward. You just gotta do more than something as inconsequential as Sprig learning to be more patient when watching a hog or Hop Pop learning how to be honest instead of selling literal garbage. The meat of those episodes (I.E. the LESSONS) can be brought up in smarter, better ways that leaves EVERYONE satisfied, especially when they learn these exact lessons later in the series anyway.
As for starting off by being fun defense, it's a fair one until you realize what show everyone's trying to copy.
Tumblr media
You see, Adventure Time is a great show. One that nailed the "silly at first but serious later" mindset. It changed the landscape for serialized animation, and shows have been trying to do what IT did ever since. BUT they forget one essential factor that's the reason to Adventure Time's success: It had NO plan. It started off silly and fun only to get more serious over time, but in a similar vein to your favorite comic series. The writers just wanted to have goofy fun times and nothing else, but the longer the series went, it would get more and more serious as it started to evolve into serialized storytelling. There was never a singular arc in Adventure Time or even an endgame in mind for how the show would conclude. There were definitely arcs but they were treated as small webs of something the show COULD build upon if the writers wanted to and less as a part of this grand narrative to a complete story. Even the latest spin off, which has a singular story in mind, is something based on an idea that NEVER went further beyond being something silly upon its conception. The writers just wanted to do something fun and would LATER come up with a good and expansive story through it.
Basically, the reason why Adventure Time nailed the silly THEN serious style is because it improvised the whole thing. When a show like Amphibia tries to go through the same style, it does it WITH a plan in mind and forgets that Adventure Time succeeded because it didn't HAVE one. The writers know exactly where they want the show to go and plan out how to reach that finish line, leaving behind crumbs of the grander narrative every now and again. But in Season One, so much of the focus is about characters going on fun adventures and leaving behind those crumbs not as often as they should. The end result might just be one of the weakest examples of a show being silly THEN serious because of it tries to be one thing while also wanting to be another.
And as for the final defense, about how other shows tries to be silly THEN serious too, let's look ANOTHER series made by Disney: Gravity Falls.
Gravity Falls' first season, let's be honest with ourselves, is a lot like Amphibia's. There's hints of a story there, but much more time is dedicated to Dipper and Mable going on goofy one-off adventures while the second season takes a much more serious direction towards the plot and characters. It still leaves crumbs as well, like what's going on with Gideon and the Journals, but the majority of the season is still stuff like Mabel freeing a merman trapped in a public pool or Dipper using a video game character to intimidate Robby. So while it's the same as Amphibia it terms of tone, there's ONE difference: Episode length. Within the first season, Gravity Falls has twenty episodes where Amphibia has thirty-nine. Amphibia has ten-minute episodes stitched together to meet the twenty-minute runtime that Gravity falls have, and the end result is making a series feel MUCH longer than it actually is. It drags out the silliness longer, making Gravity Falls more digestible because we're watching random nonsense ONCE per week and not TWICE. So when the bigger, more serious story stuff comes, it feels like less time was wasted to get to it.
You can argue all you want about how Amphibia's first season doesn't have filler or, if it does, it's not a detriment. And if that's how you see things, that's fine. But not everyone is going to feel that way.
Look, filler can be fun. It can give you an enjoyable little adventure in between the meat of this grander narrative the writers are building. But filler isn't fun ALL THE TIME, and you need to find a right way to space it out between the story bits if a serialized story is what you want to make. As fun as it can be, it's not the necessity that people claim it is for a good show to exist. Some amazing series exist when they're all killer and no filler. Just because the characters don't randomly go to a casino for an episode, that doesn't mean it's a lesser form of storytelling.
And the same goes for shows WITH filler. If you like Amphibia's first season because of how silly and fun it is, I don't blame you. To me, it was a show that got my attention because there was a hint to a bigger narrative, but it's not what the show tried to do in it's first season. It took its time and the end result was a finale that legitimately brought me to tears, so SURELY it isn't all bad, even if most of those silly adventures weren't my cup of tea. It's DEFINITELY a season of filler, but whether or not that's a detriment to a show is depending on who you ask.

Shows to Watch/Get Caught Up On:
There aren’t any anime in the Spring 2023 season that appeal to me, so I’m going to use this time to catch up on some (mostly) Western TV shows and animation series.
I do also end to dig into older anime at some point or another, but those are a lot harder to locate (most of the time) so require some more energy in finding them. Something which I don’t really have right now. Anyway, I’m just making this list to ensure that I’ll actually watch these shows. More potential for actual initiative.
Also, if you notice that there might be some series that I might like, based on these shows, feel free to drop recommendations in the comments!
The Fire Hunter: I need to rewatch this from Episode 1. It’s the only anime here. It’s based on a Japanese novel and had some really excellent world building in the first two episodes.
Tumblr media
Bee and Puppycat: I remember watching episodes of this series when it was still a Youtube series. I love, love, love the colors in this series and just the soft style of it.
Tumblr media
Proud Family: Louder and Prouder : I remember this show when I was a kid. I didn’t watch all that much of it, since it aired around the time I was really starting to get into anime (2001, I was 11). But, I remember enjoying it when I did watch it. I also love everything I’ve heard about this reboot.
Tumblr media
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur: I hadn’t realized that this was based on a Marvel comic, but I LOVE the visuals and it just looks so interesting and cool!
Tumblr media
Dead End: Paranormal Park: The lead character for this series is trans and I’ve heard great things about it. I’m also partial to paranormal, supernatural, light horror stuff, so this seems like it will itch that scratch.
Tumblr media
Willow: I need to rewatch the movie first, I haven’t watched that movie since I was a kid, but I remember liking it a lot. I also just remember Warwick Davis as being a part of my childhood through Willow, the Leprechaun movies, and even in HP.
Tumblr media
The Mandalorian (S3) : To the surprise of probably no one, I find Grogu precious and adorable and am a sucker for cold hardass gets given kid that then softens them up. It’s just way too cute a combo, so I’ll be checking this season out too.
Tumblr media
The Owl House: My friend knows Dana Terrace (they had some class together, iirc), she’s also from my home state, so I feel I need to watch it not only because of that, but also because I have enjoyed a lot of what I’ve seen in the show. So, I want to finish watching this one. I know it is well beloved and that is likely for a reason.
Tumblr media
Infinity Train: I watched the first season of this show when it first came out and I LOVED it. But, it wasn’t easy for me to watch, and that ended up being what made watching the rest of the seasons a lot harder for me. I want to watch the other seasons that came out for it though. It was such a wonderfully creative show that explored some great themes.
Tumblr media
Amphibia: This one has interested me for a while and supposedly is quite good. So I want to give it a watch (especially now that it is finished, iirc, it’s easier to binge watch that way).
Tumblr media
Hilda and the Mountain King (TV Movie): I watched the first and second season and I really enjoyed this series. It’s very character focused and I love the fantasy elements of this series. It’s all very magical and also kinda has a Welcome to Night Vale vibe about it, but child friendly. Since this is just a movie, I should be able to watch it quickly.

COMMISSIONS ARE OPEN!!! BOTH FOR ART AND FOR WRITING!!!
As per usual, feel free to send me a PM through any of the above channels to request yours! Also, bear in mind that all payments will be processed over PayPal and that for most of these (outside of comics and full pieces) must be paid full price up front before I will start working on them. Also generally all prices are negotiable but I will uphold to the above prices mostly (though the line is blurred a little for the bigger projects)
As for what I’ll draw, basically here’s that list:
Art Commissions
Ok, so I should also make it pretty clear that all these prices are negotiable, depending on what your request is (and how complex it is) As for what I’ll draw, basically here’s that list:
Stuff for these fandoms:
Kingdom Hearts (includes Keys to the Kingdom content)
Owl House
Amphibia
Legend of Zelda
Gravity Falls
Steven Universe
Infinity Train
She-Ra: Princesses of Power
Avatar: The Last Airbender (extra cost, see above)
Disney (Any of their animated movies fit, also Pixar)
Other Nintendo franchises (Mario, Animal Crossing, Metroid, ect.)
(anything outside this stuff… I’m not very likely to have any talent in drawing, so be aware)
Expect pretty much anything to be in my usual style, as seen above, unless you have a specific request for a different style (which could cost a little extra, depending on how challenging it is) Here are a few other things to keep in mind:
The most characters you can request in a colored character sketch is 6 (there is no character limit for uncolored)
The most sketches you can request in a sketch dump is 12
The most pages you can request per comic is 4
I will draw character death/blood/violence/gore/ect but not in an explicit manner
Here’s what I won’t draw:
NSFW (like at the very most I’ll draw a kiss tbh)
Ships I don’t support (and if you ask for one of these, I’ll let you know if I won’t go for it)
Fandoms/crossovers I’m not familiar with
I do reserve the right to reject or accept requests based on personal reasons!
Writing Commissions
$5 per 100 words
$10 per 1000 words
Max 10,000 words (so max $100), I won’t write more than that for any one comm
I will also only be taking requests from the following fandoms this time around:
Kingdom Hearts (Keys to the Kingdom specific content is fair game (encouraged even!)
Legend of Zelda (set in any game)
Owl House
Amphibia (never written for Amphibia before but I’ll try)
Anything else is on a case by case basis
And as for the rules of these writing prompts, they’re as such:
I won’t write any sort of porn/smut/lemon, other gross stuff
I won’t write for any ship I’m not familiar with/comfortable with
I won’t write anything with any non-canon OCs in it, sorry fam, they’re yours, not mine
Any and all tones are allowed, from teeth-rotting fluff to the angstiest of angsts
Be as specific as possible when requesting a writing prompt, just so I can make sure I’m giving you what you want (i.e. include a brief blurb of a plot you want me to tackle, or if you don’t have one in mind, a quote or a prompt works too! Heck, even just a character interaction you might want to see me take on is fine)
Lengths are negotiable, everything here is by a case by case basis
Again, I do reserve the right to reject or accept requests based on personal reasons!
Feel free to forward any questions you may have my way! As mentioned before, please send commission requests via PM please! I’m really looking to see what you guys come up with this time around, so let’s have at it!

It's time for my 2000th post celebration!
It has been a lot of fun getting to this point! Thanks to those who have stuck around over the years and to newer followers as well.
Rather than making this purely focused on One Piece, I thought it may be fun to look back at the beginning of this blog, and give a bit of spotlight to the transitions it has been though up to this point.
I began this blog back in April of 2020, mainly out of an interest in keeping up with artists who were creating AU fan comics of Steven Universe, a show I began while it was in the middle of airing its fourth season, and caught up to soon after. Three fan comics I especially enjoyed reading were a White Diamond Steven AU by Chekhov, a comic where Steven has a sister(Twiniverse,) and a special shoutout to makingfriendos/court and snidy for being a great source of joy and whimsy with their SU art back then, being the creators of one of the first fan comics I really delved into.
The comic they worked on, Steven Universe B-Sides, focused on the trio of Lapis, Peridot, and Bismuth being Steven's guardians and is a joy to read. Captured the essence and humor of season one very well.
In fact, one of their drawings is the origin of the original name of this blog "showergelfan." Sourcing to a lovely doodle they drew of Peridot not understanding human cuisine and thinking that a shower gel recipe was acceptable for human consumption.
Moving forward a bit to September of 2020, Steven Universe had finished airing a few months ago and I shifted into mainly focusing on Amphibia and Owl House around the time, both shows having very active fan bases during their runs(shoutout to the-lone-witch-and-secret-room for being a cool and friendly presence within the Owl House fandom during the show's air.) Amphibia especially resonated with me for its humor, characters, and fun to explore world. Frogs being one of my favorite animals gave it a boost too.
A few other cartoons found their way into the mix as well, namely Hilda and Infinity Train. Both also good shows which I still recommend. I didn't explore fan works for these shows as much I did with Steven Universe, though enjoyed them all none the less.
Then finally, around August/September of 2021, I began the most recent and current focus towards One Piece from then on, with the name switch to fallensnowfan and greater attention to Kiku and friends happening in July of 2022. Being in part due to discovering the blog of cool friend basedkikuenjoyer around that time. Hi!
Going to conclude this celebration post with a small section dedicated to the much anticipated episode 1084, directed by Kenichi Takeshita, and the episodes he has worked on previously:
935 - Komurasaki's true identity is… 949 - Udon Prison liberated 965 - Whitebeard versus Roger 980 - Jinbei arrives 998 - Shinobu and Sanji rescue Momonosuke 1018 - Zoro scars Kaido with Enma 1039 - Tama flips the Beast Pirates to our side, and Who's Who backstory 1067 - Big Mom's fall
Tomorrow's episode, 1084 will be about an "untold story from before the Straw Hats' departure," and I am very excited to watch!

Is it weird how most of my OC’s are villains/antagonists?
And most aren’t even puff balls or already known species but I just go wild, that’s because I’m trying to follow the way kirby games create characters by trying to be more and more creative while always trying to stay on familiar grounds.
Am I going too far? Am I still drawing Kirby characters?
I just don’t know if my designs are that good.
Im kinda saying this because I’ve seen several human OC designs and your “OC” (between “” since I don’t know if a pre transformation character can be called OC) Noir is one of the few human designs I actually think fit into Kirby and is overall one of the best designs I’ve seen without being too different and without being too similar, and I just wanna give tell you “well done”, do you have any advice on how to do that?
First off, you'll never ever hear "Oh, that's weird!" from me about designing antagonists! I think it's great! Everything from the complex emotions that led them to oppose our heroes (betrayal, vengeance, greed, hatred, jealousy, etc etc) to just having cool power sets you can go all out on from the beginning, they've got to be some of the most fun you can have designing characters!
It's definitely tricky to create something new that has the potential to fit in a work without it being a take off of something already in the work. I think part of the reason a lot of OC creators stick with puffballs or some other recognizable form (Magolor-alikes, Elfilin-alikes) is that it gives you a sort of bonus modifier to recognizability? Once you've got that, you can move on to adding all the original details without having to surmount that hurdle of "Does this non-Kirby character still look like they could feasibly be in Kirby?"
Of course, there's nothing wrong with just throwing all that out the window and stylizing your design like whoa! Heck, some actual Kirby characters don't look much like Kirby characters. I think back to Dark Mind, who is awfully cool looking and going by his name really should look like the rest of the Dark Matters but theweird...fire/vein/wires look? Is he part-eyeball part-computer??
He looks more like a riff on a Kirby boss than a Kirby boss. (Which makes that thing in Amphibia - apologies, as I've never watched the show - that looks so much like Dark Mind kinda funny in retrospect because it's a clear Kirby reference, but it references the first Dark Matter-like being to look really different from all the other Dark Matters before him!)
Sometimes, you just have to stick with it! Designing OCs is fun, but I know that for me, the meat is in their story. Can I connect with them emotionally? (Villain or no.) If I can do that, then it doesn't matter to me too much what they look like!
Also, it's totally fine to call Noir an OC, lol! I think that about him myself sometimes. (Dess Secret: I've had to push myself to be courageous every time I post a new Apologies comic because a mean voice in the back of my head says "You know everyone's going to be mad you turned a fan favorite last boss into a sadboy!")
But thank you for saying that. As for tips, well...
One thing I did was I kinda cheated by taking recognizable elements (his scarf + turning his tan cape into a long winter coat) from the character he's based off of. The concept for his hair I also stole off of the settei sheet while focusing on making it look somewhat flame like, so it matched DMS's dark flame hair.
But you can do this kind of "element borrowing" even if you're not making a character who is part of a known species! On that note, I guess that's the other thing I did for him was give him very "Adeleine-like" proportions. I mentioned this vaguely in the lightning round post that it's easier to draw for Apologies than it is to draw for MariPav because I try to keep Gijinka Marx and Magolor as approx. 7-8 heads tall humanoids with reasonable proportions.
In game Adeleine's got a big plate face with wide cartoon eyes and these kinda stick limbs. So, by drawing Noir a little taller, with slightly sharper features, and eyes that have a distinct "shape" to them (Rhombus? Is that the word?) but still those spaghetti limbs and almost child-like hands, he manages to look not too out of place standing alongside Adeleine.
Speaking of Adeleine's design, this last tip is not a solid rule, but simplicity is a great place to start when designing characters! When you mess around with both sprite art and chibi art, you learn quickly that little details (jewelry, markings, filigree, iris patterns, dozens of other things that may FEEL important) aren't going to make it into the finished piece. So choose a few bold things (and bold colors to go with them) that you can count on are always going to show.
To dip into some actual Kirby villains...
I think Nightmare's helmet is... a bit of a mess and I hate hate hate it and hate drawing it (what even is with those...antenna like horns?!) but the distinctive pointed witchy nose he's got and the dramatic chin, plus a body wrapped in a cape that looks like a tornado?! (Natural disasters are SCARY!) Those are all good, clearly visible design elements that say this guy is bad news!
(I refuse to listen to the haters. Nightmare is a good boss!)
One of the things that makes Zero 2 such a compelling boss visually is, of all things, the freakin' band-aid on his head, which is in complete contrast to his surreal, angelic design. But that's what makes it so effective! It doesn't seem to belong. "Wait, bosses can't take boo boos!" but because it's so distracting it draws your eye and your mind begins to think "...Is that to cover the spot where Zero broke out of last time we fought?" People make fun of bosses having "magical weak spots" but they're visually very interesting!
(Of course, it's actually the thorn that's the weak spot...)
Even rounder, friendlier bosses like King Dedede stick to having a few visually striking elements. Design-wise, he's a combination of a penguin (who is blue and yellow, because those colors stand out more than black + white) and a medieval Japanese daimyo. But he wasn't given a kimono until Smash Bros, which is fine as there would be no way to visually show that off till 3D graphics got as good as they did. So what they did give him a big round Japanese obi, which you'll always be able to see on him as well continuing the theme of the three primary colors (red, yellow, blue) on him and keeps his round belly from being entirely monochromatic!
Crowned Magolor/Magolor Soul, one of my favorite boss designs, is interesting because the more details the crown picks up (again, the design informs the character, as it twists around like roots and grows in some plant-like thorns, and this is before we saw it become a tree!) the less detailed Magolor becomes. This is so you don't have too much detail conflicting with each other. Your eye isn't too busy trying to "read" both Magolor and the Crown. And when you remove the crown, Magolor's basically a bouncy ball with a face! But he only needs to be a face because the empty eyes are the element they wanted to highlight, in this case showing his powerlessness.
So, to summarize...
Pick a few colors (remember to work some contrast in there! If you've got a lot of dark, scary colors, try adding something colorful and saturated to throw the viewer off. They can still contribute to the creepiness, even if they're not normally bad guy colors. The haunting orange glow of a jack-o-lantern. A bright, toxic-looking science-green! The purple of the sky as the sun sets and night is upon you...) Pick a few design elements to focus on (Large ones too! You should be able to see the most important parts of your character, even if you shrink them down super small!) and well, uh, I accidentally got ahead of myself. I think this step comes first but also, look to the forms of other Kirby characters, even if you're not making something that's a specific call back to them! Don't take their design, but take their shape. Or parts of their shape. In the sprite art community, we have something called "franken-spriting" where you cut out parts of various sprites you like or want to borrow from and then merge them together or redraw over what you've pieced together.
Finally, don't just show us what they look like: make us understand something about them. Back to Noir ever so briefly - I think that what made him effective as a character is that first time I actually drew him (outside of the sketch in Adeleine's notebook) I'd already informed people who he was and what his fate would be. He wasn't just some drawing of a moody teen with an ugly scarf.
He was an unavoidable tragedy waiting to happen.
(That said, you might not want to tell us all the good stuff in one go. Drop some tantalizing details, not every twist and turn up to the denouement! Something I was always told is "less is more!")
Tell us what to sympathize with, love, or fear about your OCs. The things that make them human - yes, even the eldritch monsters!!! - and hopefully your art will both energize other people and...yourself!
Most importantly, keep at it!

Seeing as we don't get much Amphibia & Boiling Isles based comics, which I understand since your busy and all that, do you think it's possible to set like one month where you'll just do comics covering characters that stay on Amphibia & side characters on the Boiling Isles?
That’s probably a good idea. That way I have a theme to follow instead of being bogged down with indecision like I am now on what to do next. Probably May or April since I’ve a few comics in mind already I wanna do but yea, a month of side characters/non-earth stuff sounds like a good idea to try

To Crack an Egg - Chapter 1 - Prologue (A Sonic the Hedgehog IDW Fanfic)
When you crack an egg, you end up with two halves of one.
When you try to crack an Eggman, you end up with a Restoration divided into two: one group who draws the line at taking a life...
And the other who just wants Eggman dead.
— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
Fazar try not to spend a long break after uploading one fic challange (impossible) (gone wrong)
Jokes aside, I know it's been a while. With Amphibia having ended a year ago, and me not having a lot of ideas, I pretty much procrastinated for the past year. So I decided, why not try my hand at Sonic fanfiction? It's one of my favorite franchises, and the comics I absolutely ADORE. Now, this is an AU that kinda happened by accident, after I saw a theory by @thebwarch about how Lanolin might go too far with trying to kill Eggman. While that obviously has no chance of happening, I thought it'd make for a good AU, and then it somehow kinda spiraled into an AU about an extremist group working in secret to kill Eggman for good. And thus, this fic was born. I have @scrabbleknight to thank for helping me out with the fic on Discord. Go check out his stuff if you're into Amphibia! Anyway, without further ado, let the fic COMMENCE!
Lanolin sipped what might have been her third cup of coffee as she worked tirelessly at her desk.
It had been months since the Metal Virus outbreak, an incident that had nearly destroyed her home, friends, family, the entire world. Seeing so many people succumb to the disease, transforming into mindless, feral monsters with no desire other than to spread their infection across the world…it left a mental scar that had yet to fully heal.
She still had nightmares about the outbreak. How it ravaged the entire world, how it took away her beloved friends and family, how even she fell victim to the virus itself. She had joined the Restoration to assist in the battle against the pandemic, a battle they’d almost lost. They were able to recover, but she feared they wouldn’t be so lucky next time something like this happened.
Hence why she was staying up late at 12 AM, sitting at her computer and browsing through old files she had discovered at one of Eggman’s abandoned bases, each one documenting information on one of the doctor’s previous schemes, their execution, and their inevitable failure thanks to Sonic the Hedgehog, even though she was supposed to be up early tomorrow for a meeting with Tangle, Whisper, Jewel and Sonic about how they’d infiltrate Eggperial City. She had to find some sort of connection, anything, that could give the Restoration an idea on how to be ready for what other plans he most likely had involving his new metropolis.
Speaking of which…
“Dear Gaia,” Lanolin muttered. “I thought the Metal Virus was extreme, but this comes close in comparison…”
Reading the files, she was shaken by the Doctor’s past attempts: using Chaos to destroy Station Square, blowing up the moon, resurrecting Dark Gaia, enslaving hundreds of Wisps for his own selfish intentions, using the Phantom Ruby to conquer the world?!
Just how many incidents had that man caused? How many people had fallen victims to the Doctor’s diabolical schemes? And how many more attacks like that could they afford to take?
As she finished scrolling through the last file on her computer, however, she began to notice an odd pattern.
Whenever one of Eggman’s plans failed, he was always somehow able to escape, before eventually retaliating with another one that was sometimes worse than the last.
But how? Lanolin thought. Sonic’s the fastest thing alive. There’s no way Eggman, or anyone for that matter, can outrun him. Sonic should have gotten rid of him years ago. Yet he’s still kicking.
Lanolin was frustrated. It didn’t make any sense! The only possible explanation for why Eggman was always able to get away with his actions would be…
…that Sonic was letting him go on purpose.
Lanolin froze. As her mind started to finally put the pieces together, she began to remember what had happened during the doctor’s attack on Spiral Hill Village…
— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
“NO, NO, NO!!!” Dr. Eggman roared. “I had them! I won!”
Sonic, ignoring his outburst, leapt off the mech and repeatedly spin-dashed into the center with an incredible velocity, before getting behind Omega, the robot being used to power the colossal suit.
“Out…you…GO!” Sonic grunted as he pried Omega free from the mech, his eyes flashing a bright red as he fell to the ground.
“UNLEASHING STOCKPILED WRATH!” Omega exclaimed as he turned around and opened fire on the suit, causing it to explode, but not before Eggman ejected his Egg Mobile, saving his own skin in the process.
Lanolin had taken refuge behind a building as she watched the scene unfold. Her mind was still whirling from the chaos of the Metal Virus outbreak, but that didn’t stop her from recalling the events that occurred the past several minutes:
Sonic’s friends were having a party at Spiral Hill Village to celebrate the end of the Metal Virus.
Dr. Eggman had arrived to crash their party, bearing a mech suit with Omega as its power source, because apparently fate wouldn’t let them have a break.
And finally, just when all seemed lost, Sonic, by some miracle, had returned, in a burst of flame that crashed onto the battlefield, to save the day.
And now, Dr. Eggman’s mech met the same fate as his other inventions: being reduced to a heap of scrap.
“AMMO DEPLETED,” Omega stated, wobbling a bit. Poor guy must have been tuckered out from what he went through.
“S’all good, man,” Sonic assured him. “You did your part.”
“DO NOT PATRONIZE ME.”
Eggman growled. “You just couldn’t stay gone, could you?! Just had to come back and ruin my fun!”
“Always, Egg-Face. Anytime. Anywhere,” Sonic replied coolly, walking towards him. He got into a battle stance. “Come a little closer. We’ll go another round.”
Eggman’s expression twisted from anger into fear, clearly not ready to handle another defeat from Sonic. “Still sore about that whole ‘getting infected and nearly becoming a mindless machine’ thing, eh?” He chuckled nervously.
Sonic crossed his arms, clearly not happy to remember that. “That’s part of the list, yes.”
Eggman humphed, before crossing his arms, turning his cockpit around, and leaving the party, or what remained of it anyway. “Well… I still ruined your party! The day is mine!” He declared. “My next sinister plot will be unbeatable! Until next time, you wretched hedgehog!”
Sonic sighed as he watched the Doctor make his exit. “Until next time, doc. And the time after that, and the one after that,” He muttered. “Maybe you’ll eventually come around…”
As Sonic’s friends rushed to greet him, elated that he was alive, Lanolin remained where she hid, trying to process the fact that Sonic had let Dr. Eggman, the one responsible for so much suffering, live as though he’d done nothing wrong.
Sonic had let Dr. Eggman live, even when he promised his next scheme would be unbeatable, which worried her.
Sonic had let Dr. Eggman live, and she didn’t understand why.
— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
Lanolin’s fists clenched. It all made sense now. She finally understood.
Sonic the Hedgehog.
He was the reason why she and everyone else constantly suffered in this endless cycle.
All because he valued freedom and mercy for everyone, even those undeserving of it.
Well, no more.
Since she could no longer count on Sonic to stop the Eggman Empire for good, she’d just have to take it into her own hands.
No matter what.

Another Month, Another Sunset
Tumblr media
Well I did say I would return to the subject of shows I’ve watched ending since Mario Kart 8 dropped back in 2014, so this is the continuation of that dropped point.
I have watched television animation for as long as I have conscious memories. I grew up with it. I define the stretches of my life based on the big show I watched during each of them: Rugrats, Hey Arnold, SpongeBob SquarePants, The Fairly OddParents, Danny Phantom, The Mighty B!, Gravity Falls, Steven Universe. I was mostly a Nickelodeon kid as you can see, because that was largely the only channel we had around here when I was growing up.
I’ve dabbled in many other shows that aired at the same time as these, but there was always the one I focused on. But each of these shows either ended, whether by its own accord or not, or frankly went to pot and I jumped ship. It was the time when things were stewing in the latter show in 2018 when I decided maybe I’d have my fun elsewhere.
There were several months when I didn’t latch onto any show out of lack of interest, I might say. I watched some but I wouldn’t say I engaged with them.
That all changed in October 2018, when, at the suggestion of someone I used to know along with a forum I frequented, I checked out Hilda on Netflix. I’d never read the comic it was based on, nor did I have much experience with a show designed for streaming.
But despite all that, I loved it. It felt like a rejuvenation into a medium I’d followed since youth. It opened my eyes to the potential of a series made for an online service.
Perhaps as a way to fill in a void left by season one ending, I decided to see what else I’d missed in my admittedly narrow-minded viewing. This led to my current favorite (remaining) show, Big City Greens.
My slate grew to those two. And then there was She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Carmen Sandiego, Amphibia, Victor and Valentino, Infinity Train, It’s Pony, The Owl House, Glitch Techs, Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, The Midnight Gospel, Kid Cosmic, Centaurworld, City of Ghosts, Invincible, The Ghost and Molly McGee, Inside Job, Arcane, Tear Along the Dotted Line, Maya and the Three, Dead End: Paranormal Park, Hamster and Gretel, Bee and Puppycat, Pantheon, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Kiff, Hailey’s On It!, and a couple others I’ve checked out some clips of.
Granted, I like some of these shows more than others. I wouldn’t call any of these perfect because with enough time I can find things in each of them that irk me. But I certainly feel I have a stronger awareness of shows that have aired in the past five years than I have for the rest of my life. Gaining a lot more online awareness probably also helps in that regard. I feel like I’m learning more about myself as an artistic person and writer by thinking about these and wanting to write about them.
With the end of Hilda, I feel it also marks the end of an era. Nearly every show I mentioned above has ended, whether by its own terms or not. Some have questionable conclusions, some were cut short, and a handful are ongoing or even just begun. But 2024 will mark the first year in some time where the big show that got me to get further into animation watching will not be on the horizon.
Now, I don’t think Hilda is going away forever. We’ve likely all seen Luke Pearson is already writing a prequel comic. There are more supplemental and side books being released faster than I can keep track of. Most of the shows I mentioned that have ended are still with us in a bevy of ways. With some networks looking for the next big hit they feel content to keep on reminding people about the stuff they already love to keep them engaged. For instance, for all their corporate shenanigans, Disney is doing a good job at keeping people aware of Amphibia.
I think the process of shows going away has been made easier by maintaining a broader range of shows to watch. Even with Hilda finished, I have the remaining episodes of Big City Greens along with the shows that just premiered and have more episodes on the way. Then there are all the upcoming shows that could grab my attention in the ways many of the previously mentioned have.
It does feel bittersweet, knowing we’ve all watched this show and came together for it and may be left wondering where we go now. I regret not engaging with you all more in the past, but who’s to say that can’t change now? At the end of the day, a show like this and many others extend far beyond what’s on the screen.
We’re all here to celebrate a show that we enjoy and that inspires us to create, to tell stories, to meet new people, to reflect on who we are and where we can take ourselves. Looking back, I have mixed feelings on the last season of Danny Phantom, but it was the first show where I talked with folks online about it and looked at fanart and read stories, and it is in this way that I met some of my oldest friends. Some of the most genuine, wonderful people I’ve known for over 15 years. That’s the beauty of an artistic creation like this or any other show.
Looking at the upcoming slate of shows and seeing just a bunch of stuff I don’t recognize does add to the hesitation. It’s easy to think that nothing new could live up and this empty feeling will persist. The strongest sense of “emptiness” I felt recently was when Amphibia ended, but this one is also up there because of what its end brings with it. But looking ahead, who’s to say we won’t all find a show that will enrapture our senses and inspire us the way our past favorites did?
I certainly didn’t think I could move on from Danny Phantom or Gravity Falls or Amphibia at those moments. But with some time, I’ve been able to keep moving forward and find new things that inspired me in all new ways. It may take time, but I think many of us will do the same here.
I’m sure I’ll keep reading the stories, and seeing the fanart, and thinking of my own ideas of stuff to share. To paraphrase Star Trek II, it’s not really gone so long as we remember it.
Here’s to the future, y’all. Cheers.

Soo Marcy aus! I don't know who made the expression sheets, but lets get into the aus! (See info below the cut on the aus!) ((also, if you have an au in this and don't want it, tell me and I can scribble/remove it out if you want!!))
A1, F1 and F7 (Orginal, Calamity (She go Blep!) and Adult) are all from the original show.
B1 (marky) is from the Fandom, while E7 (Darcy) is heavily inspired from the fandom.
C1, A7, and F2 aus, (Left behind, God and Cursed respectively) were designed by my friend. Left behind is well, being left in Amphibia. God is being a god and Cursed is based off my other expression sheet draw here.
E2 (fantasy au) was created by the lovely @tinydragontoons! Thank you for letting me draw her and lovely Mars! Def. go check them out. They got lots of art!!
E1 (True calamity) was inspired by a youtube video: THIS By the lovely Rezmei Seno!!
A2 (medieval) was not directly from someone but was heavily inspired by many people. There are so many medieval aus I couldn't just choose one!
B2 (PJO aka Percy Jackson Au) is VERY inspired (and also from) the amazing @raqueliie 's au!! I highly recommend checking it out if you have not. Their art is also AMAZING!
C2 and B4 (Good ending and Bad ending) are both from my mini-series "what if"? comics I like to doodle in my sketchbook. Also D4 (beyond Amphibia) is another, (newer) part to my "What If-?" mini series. Its where the trio stay in amphibian and go to the new continent previously undiscovered.
D2 (amphibia as a child) is also very widely popular and I love it.
A3 and B7 (Swap!Sasha and Swap!Anne) are designed by me, but there are bunches out there and its really fun to see what could have happened!
B3 (only Human au) was orginally inspired by one of @themissakat aus. I don't originally recall which one started this particular au, but I do know that if you want to find more aus, go to their page and you will have aus for YEARS! Its beautiful.
C3 is obviously my au. (Lost au) If you want to know more, you can go here. Summary is, its a corruption au but worse. And in context for this, Marcy isn't fully corrupted yet.
D3 (superhero au) and C4 (fairytale au) are also aus of one of my friends. The super hero, they got powers. In fairy tale, I really have no clue where its going, but all I know is that it's pretty gay.
E3 (owl house swap), B5 (Hogwarts) and A6 (UA - MHA/My Hero Academia au) are all fandom swaps and I just adore fandom swaps.
F3 (Ghost au) is also very fandom what if. Probably one of my favorite au ideas, and its certainly fun to mess with. There are lots of people who have added to this au.
A4 (Zombie au) and A5 (Soulmates au, and yes that is Sashannarcy my beloved) are very popular au ideas so I just had to add them. Any people to point to? No, but once again, The Missa Kat does have a zombie au!
E4 (Gender swap) is special. The reason why the gender swap is facing away (not just bc that was in the expression sheet) was kinda just, because they look the same XD. I have no known knowledge of any current aus of that, but maybe there is some that I'm just previously unaware of!
F4 (Power of Three au!!) is one of my LONG TIME FAVORITE aus. I have been a huge fan of this one. Its one of @honneibun 's aus and its so AMAZING! I highly recommend just looking at it. Its beautiful and It will always live rent free in my brain.
C5 (streamer/YT au) is from a fic I read a long time ago which never finished. If anyone can tell me who and where it is, I will be glad and my life will finally be complete. D5 (Author au, NOT COMIC BOOK AUTHOR) is heavily inspired by the time skip and the above (C5) streamer/YT au. As far as I am aware, there are no current aus with this.
E5 (Oversimplified), well. I think you guys can probably guess. On YT there is a Simplified or Oversimplified series (idk maybe its called "So this is basically _____ "or something and I thought, Amphibia should be included!) and so.. yeah!
B6 (opposite au), I.. really do not like that one and will probably or def change it. Idk what was going through my head as I drew/edited it.
C6 (Never went to Amphibia au) is another popular one that I just HAD to include.
D6 is apart of my SCP aus that I also have. If you don't know what SCP is, then.. there's a website. Basically it stands for Sucure, Contain and Protect and it holds all the supernatural and dangerous creatures. (Its not real guys!)
E6 (newt au) is basically swapped Amphibia au. Very popular and I sometimes wished that there were more of them.
F6 (roommates au) however was HEAILY inspired and particially from I think @kyoryu 's au on twitter? I think its the same one. If its wrong than I can change it, but I'm pretty sure I'm right?
C7 (Animal au) I've seen everywhere and soo... I added it. No known (main) aus on it.
Finally, D7 (Alien au) Another one of my various multifandom aus that sit in my BIG BOOK OF AUS in the corner of my work area. Its always fun like that!!
If any of these are wrong or you think that I didn't give any credit to _____, just let me know and I shall change it.
also wow, you read it too here! Impressive!
