Currently available free to stream in the UK on ITVX.
Groundbreaking British film tackling the subject of the criminalisation of homosexuality and the 'Blackmailer's charter' it created. Still a powerful watch after more than sixty years.

Films watched (1960s): The Assassination Bureau Limited (Paramount, 1969); written & produced by Michael Relph; dir. Basil Dearden (based on the unfinished Jack London novel The Assassination Bureau Ltd). Starring Oliver Reed, Diana Rigg, Telly Savalas & Curd Jürgens.
"The Assassination Bureau is a political weapon or it is nothing. Properly used... it could bring down empires. I could make the destiny of Europe!"

VICTIM (1961) dir. Basil Dearden In early 1960s London, barrister Melville Farr is on the path to success. With his practice winning cases and a loving marriage to his wife, Farr's career and personal life are nearly idyllic. However, when blackmailers link Farr to a young gay man, everything he has worked for is threatened. As it turns out, Farr is a closeted homosexual - which is problematic, due to Britain's anti-sodomy laws. But instead of giving in, Farr decides to fight. The first English-language film to use the word homosexual. (link in title)
