Dresden Files spoiler for new readers. Be warned

I saw a reddit post about Rudolph and how after Murphy death he disappeared. It made me think of something what if Rudolph is one of those who is possessed by an outsider like Justine?

1, we know he was a dirty cop in changes. He was working with the red court to make everything go down, that is why they went to his house to kill him.

2, his blatant denial of the supernatural after changes makes me think some time after fool moon he was taken.

3, why was he so insistent not only to end Murphy career but despised her after. What made her his target? Is he a jerk? Or maybe Murphy is a threat no one else is.

Let’s look around at the supernatural community. We have the White Council, wizards who defend the people from the rest of the supernatural threat. We have the courts of vampires, the Fae, our favorite demon possessed coin bearers. Besides the White Council who stands up against them? we have the Knights of the Cross, have turned red court vampires (till changes) and those who are in the para-net that have some magical talent but not lots like the Alpha’s. Odin and his team do what they can too.

Murphy, she does not have magic, she does not have super speed or anything, but she is a regular vanilla mortal standing in the way of the monsters who hunt the regular humans in the city of Chicago. What makes her a threat is Harry warns several times when the mortals get involved its like dropping a nuclear bomb on the conflict. The regular mortals will come with armies and can make the conflicts worse. Just think of Murphy every conflict she is in she has a handgun with her. The fae, the fomor and many others can’t stand the touch of cold steel. Look at Kincaid he took out denarius with a rifle, he took out harry too. Guns today alone pose a huge threat to the supernatural and what’s what Murphy brings.

What if Rudolph is possessed by an outsider, what if Cowl somehow got to him and infected him. Rudolph would be willing to work with the red court and the lower players would not know he is a ally just a puppet. Knowing how murphy could be the change that would aid Mab and the others in the event of an fight in empty night they decide that they need to eliminate the threat as much as possible. She could rally the normal like no other, CPD’s special investigation still stand by her after everything because they seen the truth.

First he gets her kicked off the force, thinking without her doing her job then her influence will stop, but she becomes the face of the Para-net. Helping those who are aware and keeping things together while Harry is dead. Since that did not work and that Murphy is a strong player still keeping those the fomor are preying on together he decides to ramp it up and focus on destroying her career, so she loses her pension. Murphy losing a steady income would require her to find work to support herself and lose her advantage of being there to direct the movement.

Why else would he push the investigation just before the attack? Then when he finds the opportunity to attack, well he takes it. uses cowardice and denial and kills the one person who is keeping everything together while Harry is gone, the one person who is the connection between the para net and the wardens. Her death makes it so there is less of an opportunity to have the regular mortals unite to fight back. Her death will make it so the outsiders are closer to winning the war. Its not just an emotional blow to Harry it’s a blow to the Para net, to special investigations and to everyone.

You Have My Attention: Dresden Files First Lines

I tend to give a book a few pages or even the first chapter to catch me, but for some readers, you get one line. Despite my complicated feelings about the Dresden Files as a series, Jim Butcher is a bit of an evil genius for first lines (note the plural on that). Here are the first lines of every book (excluding the short stories because that's a whole other kettle of dragons).
