Why I Left Sarasota Memorial Hospital

I have decided to post in length my story about my experience at Sarasota Memorial Hospital and why I left my job there. I know it may seem somewhat personal, but I want to spread awareness of the corruption among management there. One might be able to see what I'm doing as "whistleblowing" because it involves retaliation (which is against company policy) and making my job so bad in order for me to quit (pretty sure that's against OSHA guidelines or something).

There was one incident on June 1 when a nurse snapped at me and I approached her afterward and told her that she could have been less condescending. I was willing to let it go after I got that off my chest, but then she grabbed the executive director to mediate. Granted, I did not even know who she was. Her name tag said that she had an LMSW so I assumed that she was one of the social workers but it turned out that she was actually the executive director. Anyway, she talked down on me, told me that I was being inappropriate and that nurses are above me and that they do not need to explain themselves. Whenever I tried to explain my side of the story, she kept interrupting. She also kept asking me if this was my first job like this, and I explained multiple times that it is not as I have worked at a behavioral health center for a year (and was continuing to work there PRN). I also have a bachelor's in psychology which IS indicated on my name tag so I don't place myself that far beneath the nurses since I have education relevant to my job as well. I did cry a little afterward because of the way that I was treated but not in front of patients or anything.

Everything still seemed fine after that until one day when I was called upstairs at the start of my shift. The DON told me that in two weeks I was being moved to the overnight shift, stating that they needed more females on that shift and that since I was in my first 90 days, they were allowed to do this. I asked to see the policy that allows her to do this and she said that she would show it to me later but she never did. They claimed that the move was only temporary but that they could not give me a time frame. They also implied that I had the opportunity to move back to second shift after but it sounded like they could keep me there permanently if that is where they wanted me. Keep in mind that I was interviewed and hired for the 3-11 shift.

I used to work overnight at my last job so I know that I can't handle being nocturnal. It had a negative impact on my physical and mental health. I told the DON this, and still offered to help out by picking up some overnight shifts, but she would not let up and said that I needed to be flexible. She did also admit that this was partially in retaliation for my run in with that nurse but told me that this would have happened anyway. She also did not understand why I had gotten upset, thinking I was upset with a patient who was acting out. Everybody who works with me at Palm Shores knows that this is nowhere near enough to bother me. When I explained the real reason why I was upset, she explained to me that nurses just get short sometimes due to the stress of their jobs and that I just have to put up with it.

I was obviously upset after that and my co-workers at Bayside (the building at the hospital that I worked at) who had worked there for years told me that they had never heard of someone being forced to change shifts before. They encouraged me to tell the DON that if she wanted me to work there, that I would be on the shift I was hired for. When I said this, she smiled and said "Then I have no choice but to accept your two-weeks notice." I also pointed out that if she lost me, she would be short someone for second shift and still need someone to work third as well. She did not care. So she would have rather lost me completely than allow me to continue working second shift full time.

I called my manager at my old job and offered to come back full time on first or second shift and then also contacted HR at Sarasota Memorial about my situation. HR responded with multiple behavioral concerns filed against me, most of which happened AFTER they informed me I was being switched to overnights.One of the behavioral concerns was against me crying after they told me I was being moved to overnight shifts. But of course I cried about that. They railroaded me with that at the start of my shift and they weren't just making me change my shift but my entire lifestyle. They also alleged that I had walked away from a 1:1 even though I had another tech step in for me. The HR person also did not even know what a 1:1 is. Go figure.

HR said they would get back to me and immediately after the call my manager at Palm Shores offered me a full time first shift. This seemed like a clear sign from the universe so I accepted. I called back and had to leave a message saying that I no longer wished to work there but still offered to work my shift that day so that the ratio would not be short. When I arrived, the DON left me a message saying that she did not even want me to work that day so I just turned in my keys. My old job, on the other hand, welcomed me back warmly with open arms.

Could I have at least put in my two weeks? Yes, but that would have given the DON two more weeks to sabotage me and try to make my time there miserable. Sometimes, it is actually better to quit without notice, especially when you are in such a toxic environment.

Edit: forgot to mention that I've looked at other reviews on Indeed and found the following:

"Management focused on being punitive rather than encouraging and morale driven. New upper management at Bayside Behavioral Health is deceitful, threatening and retaliatory. HR does not intervene until flooded with complaints. Then they do the bare minimum. In any other state the environment would be consistent with bulling and a hostile work environment. Constantly being told by the DON that she has free will to fire anyone. No process or protocol followed, she just says your fired. New facility director has no clue and is being hand fed by the DON negative and derogatory lies about staff in which she has now lost all credibility with staff and lacks any leadership connection."

The four illustrious artists, EJ the Don, Armin Hammer, Prince Cee and Ony The God; forming the collective known as Dead Boys Society were normally coming together to perform their many hits, or even comprise music. But tonight? They had a whole other reason..or two rather!

on one of the very rare occasions that the gentleman accrued some free time, they decided to host a Twitch stream. Playing video games, previewing new music and just having a good time. That was until they decided to bring them out…the infamous photos.

Ony, who was in full blown hysterics, falling out of his chair in laughter as he hoisted his phone to the camera. He could barely even be contained. “Look at this nigga, bro! You couldn’t tell him shit.” And the others followed suit. “Malibu’s Most Wanted looking ass.” Armin was just in hysterics, trying to cover his face. Eren, however was not as enthused! “Say sum’, Armin. I dare you and I’m going dead in your shit when I see you again.” “Don’t get mad at me because you were the mall whore. Getting passed around.” Which was so ironic coming from him! Because during the stream, the conversation of their previous lives and how they met came about. Ony divulged that he and Connie had known each other a long time and even went to school together. The pair played basketball as well. When they were seventeen, they began working at the Bayside Mall in a shoe store. Which is where they met EJ, who had just enrolled at their high school as well. The three became really close and eventually that they not only shared an affinity for sneakers but music also. They’d compose songs, make beats and mess around during their shift. When the three of them worked together, the store was packed to the brim, even with a line out the door. Due in part to their main attraction: the cute boy from Jersey with the green eyes and the voice of angel. At any given time, there would R&B and rap playing and he would know every word. Definitely a rarity in the urban area! Connie, who vividly remembered him wanting to be in the stock room but the manager insisting on Eren being on the floor. Thanks to Ony’s suggestion! Because of that, every girl from here to Opa Locka wanted a piece, even telling him they wanted his baby! It was utter chaos. “(Y/N), ma. I’m sorry but your man had hoes. In there serenading them girls and they used to eat that shit up. They loved him. He had like three baby mamas and four step kids before he left.” Rolling his eyes, Eren would take a sip of his drink and try to interject. Defending his honor because lord knows no one else would! “Nah, they were trying to exploit me. Pimping me out for corporate gain. Bunch of bastards.” And (y/n) was just enjoying this little storytime of your man. Exposing his younger self. So when Ony showed the photos of him in his uniform with a gold chain, a tapered fade and Nikes on, posing with his fingers up, you couldn’t help but to laugh. He was just as adorable then as he was now! It most certainly wasn’t his proudest moment. Hence why he loved having hair long now.

and you fell clean over, unable to hold it together! Along with the chat who was spamming a plethora of ‘LMAO’ ‘s and scrambled letters. A mess! “If it means anything, baby. I think you look handsome.” Squeezing his cheeks and cooing to him as consolation. And he was not trying to hear it.

“It don’t mean shit, but thank you, princess.”

He blocked everybody that night and refused to give you any dick for a week straight because of this lil’ escapade. 😭 “I thought shit was funny, what happened?”

Daniel Lewin and Mohammad Hamdani were two 9/11 heroes with very different stories.

Known as Danny by his friends, Lewin was the first person to die in the terrorist attacks, sixteen years ago today.

Danny was a passenger on American Airlines Flight 11 and an Israeli-American veteran of an elite IDF combat unit. He was trained in counter-terrorism and spoke fluent Arabic.

Investigators pieced together that Danny heard the terrorists plotting in Arabic and tried to stop the hijacking. He was stabbed to death by Saudi law student Satam al-Suqami.

Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Danny emigrated to Israel with his family as a teenager. As a newcomer, he could have skipped his military service, but chose instead to serve and work his way up to the toughest unit in the IDF. He later became a successful internet entrepreneur.

Only 31 when he died, Danny had already made his mark on the world.

Mohammad Hamdani was a first responder who died at the World Trade Center on 9/11.

Mohammad immigrated with his family from Pakistan when he was a year old and grew up in Queens, NY. He played football for Bayside High. Hard-working and ambitious, Mohammad became an EMT and then a police cadet. He also applied to medical school, and in September 2001 he was waiting to hear if he’d been accepted. 

On the morning of 9/11, Mohammad was taking an elevated subway on his way to work when he saw smoke coming from the twin towers. He got off the train and rushed to the World Trade Center to help. Mohammad was never seen alive again. He was only 23 years old.

At first Mohammad was listed as missing. Because of his Muslim background and lack of connection to the World Trade Center, he came under suspicion of being involved in the attack. The cloud over his name did not lift until his remains were found at Ground Zero in October 2001, along with his medical bag and ID. 

Mohammad Hamdani was buried with full honors from the the New York Police Department, and proclaimed a hero by the city’s police commissioner. He is mentioned in the Patriot Act as an example of Muslim-American valor on 9/11. 

May the memories of these two righteous young men always be for a blessing.

Yuno MV locations from the first three dates

Beginning with yellow Yuno, we have the Hachiko statue - Tokyo, Shibuya ward

Story

"Professor Eizaburo Ueno of Tokyo University adopted Hachiko in Akita prefecture in the early 1920s. The two were inseparable, with Hachiko accompanying his master to Shibuya Station each day when the professor would head off to work at Tokyo's Imperial University. The faithful pup would come back to the station each afternoon at 3pm to greet Ueno upon his return. Unfortunately, the professor died in 1925 while at the university and never returned for a final goodbye with his pet. However, the loyal Hachiko continued to visit the station daily until his own death nearly 10 years later. His own death made headlines, and he was cremated and buried next to his beloved owner."

Next, we have the karaoke where Yuno goes after!

On the karaoke machine it can be seen the word "Joesound" written. Although there isn't a place or a company named like this, I had found a karaoke place near Hachiko statue and Shibuya scramble crossing (since Yuno seems to remember some landmarks from Tokyo she had visited) named JOYSOUND.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the room where Yuno stayed, however the machine and TV look similar with the one from the MV.

Also, a fun thing to note for the reason why they might have chosen to write Joesound instead!

"The closest sounding kanji name to "joe" is 常 (Jō). It is pronounced "Jō" with two syllables. The kanji means "constant" or "always"."

I think the meaning is similar with what the lyrics of Stickybug imply. To be always by your lover side (like a stickybug) until the day you die.

As for my dream, it’s to be that stickybug right by your side"

Going back to the Hachiko statue, the message of the story has similar connotations. Hachiko never actually stopped from loving the professor, always coming back to the station, until the day he died too...

Continuing with green Yuno! These where the easiest to find and I don't think there is much to say about them...

Tokyo Skytree - Sumida city ward

From the shape of the window structure, it looks like Yuno was on the tembo galleria.

No wonder Yuno has dressed herself up so elegant! The client definitely has a lot of money, considering the price to visit just the Tokyo Skytree is 6800 yen for both of them (45,37 $)

During night, however, the scenery changes and Yuno is now in Tokyo tower - Minato ward. They seem to be in an expensive restaurant!

Assuming that they also visited the Tokyo Tower, depending on which deck they went, the prices still seem to be somewhat high!

If they visited the main deck, in total the price should be 2200 yen (14,68 $). For the top deck tour, in total the price should be 5400 yen (36,02 $) (online reservation) or 5800 yen (38,69 $).

Next we have purple Yuno!

Yokohama Cosmo World - Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture

(I would be happy if someone can read the hour on the clock...!)

"Yokohama Cosmoworld is an amusement park in Yokohama’s bayside Minato Mirai district. Although it occupies a rather compact area, it has a variety of rides and attractions which are suitable for either family outings, days out with friends, or romantic dates."

What is interesting about this amusement park is that there is no entrance charge!

However, a single ride can cost between 300 (1,98 $) - 900 yen (5,95 $).

Since the Ferris wheel seems to be the main attraction in Yuno's MV:

"Yokohama Cosmoworld is dominated by a giant Ferris wheel, called Cosmo Clock 21, which has a large digital clock at its center. Standing 112.5 meters high with a 100 meter diameter, this was the world’s tallest Ferris wheel until 1992, and it still holds the record as the world’s biggest Ferris wheel with a clock. Cosmo Clock 21 is one of the characteristic features of the Yokohama Bay skyline and is especially beautiful at night when it is illuminated with an LED light show of constantly changing colors."

"The wheel has 60 gondolas which can each carry eight passengers and it takes 15 minutes to complete a full turn of the wheel. A ride on Cosmo Clock 21 costs 900 yen."

It seems that this image takes place during day, most likely when Yuno and the client where on their way to the Yokohama Cosmo World. Considering that they don't get back home until night, they probably spent all the day until closing in the amusement park. (Cosmo world is open from 11.00 to 20.00)

The client definitely spent a lot of money, taking into consideration that they probably tried many rides!

Since I tried to estimate how much money some of these clients spent, I want to point out the client which appears with Grey Yuno in the second MV. Grey Yuno seems to be the happiest with him and even shows his hand (hands seem to be very important in Milgram, Amane's second MV is a good example for this, the hand representing her mother, an important character for her story) which at some point in time gave her warmth. The places where they go on a date don't seem to be some important landmarks as the others, so the money the client payed shouldn’t be as much. He also only gives 3000 yen (19,82 $) to grey Yuno, which quite pales in comparison with the money some of the other clients spent .

Hitman side mode where you play as the guy who smuggles items into levels for the actual agent

- Missions are randomly generated. Any item, any destination. Place a muffin in the gym on the top floor of the Bayside Center? Don’t ask questions, just do it.

- You are scored based on subtlety and time

- You get penalized for eliminating OR pacifying anyone, or otherwise significantly altering the environment. You never know when you might accidentally mess with the agent’s plans.

- If the item is destroyed, you automatically fail

- But on lower difficulties you might have spares of the same item.

- If anyone sees you placing the item in the stash location, the item will be taken

- You don’t play as 47 but as some random guy who works for ICA.

- Guard disguises are significantly less effective, and your agility and strength are worse

- However, in your suit or civilian disguises around, you will be more inconspicuous, and can even ask others for information or assistance to some degree.

- Lastly, you are allowed to bring tools with you, but not firearms.

The mode would be something you could easily pick up and put down when you have time to kill

A couple days ago I went to the Birding and Nature Center on the island I live near, South Padre Island. I'll be making another post about some specific plant life, but this post is about the overall environment and some of the wild birds and sanctuaried alligators here. This very beautiful and unique place consists of about 50 acres of wetlands along the bayside of the island! It's likely that my Coahuiltecan ancestors migrated to this area depending on food availability throughout the seasons, for plant medicine, and for tool and art crafting materials like wetland grasses and reeds, bones, feathers, shells, and seeds

Often such cities (Wichita, Kansas; Iowa City, Iowa; Reno, Nevada) are dependent on a single, relatively small industrial complex, the loss of which would be capable of unbinding the entire local economy -- as has already happened with many of the smaller Rust Belt cities of the northeast.

In Wisconsin, the harshest dissonance came not from the wreckage of the industrial past coexisting with myths of a new “green” economy to come, but instead from the age of this particular Rust Belt. This was not a region simply bankrupt by the post-1970s restructuring, like much of the northeast, nor was it just one among many areas passed over for wartime or New Deal investment during the twentieth-century’s middle age of war and depression. Instead, these ore docks and sunken ships were the ruined pillars of an industrial edifice that began its collapse as soon as it was built, ultimately becoming little more than an ancillary to greater cities along the southern stretches of the Great Lakes. It was not just a Rust Belt, then, but a single ghostlike megacity that had never taken form. The ore docks had followed the railroads, most built in the late nineteenth century and the last built around the First World War to supply renewed demand for steel in the industrial core. Early on, the region imagined that it would become an economic capital unto itself, comparable to Chicago in its industrial capacity and exceeding it in natural amenities.

In 1893 the city of Ashland, Wisconsin, hosted sixteen commercial docks and loaded seven thousand ships, the second busiest port on the Great Lakes. Population had exploded and receded several times, following the whims of the railroads and industrial crises that defined the later nineteenth century. [...]

When the railroad chose the area for its bayside terminus, however, the population recovered, and the town was deemed “The Future Iron City of Lake Superior.” But the Panic of 1873 -- called the Great Depression before it was superseded by greater ones -- was followed by a series of labor conflicts, the peak of which was the “Ashland War” in the winter of 1872/3, in which workers demanding unpaid wages were rounded up by a local militia and forced to walk 80 miles to a neighboring town in the subzero winter.

Another brief boom saw the construction of the first ore docks, offering a glimpse at the prophesied “Iron City” -- a mirage that collapsed again with the Panic of 1893.

The next boom came in the early 1900s, followed by the Panic of 1907, the Panic of 1910–11, the recession of 1913–14, and the First World War boom that would see the last of the ore docks constructed, at which point there was little left in the old dream of the northern metropolis.

Harsh winter blizzards passed over the industrial skeletons, guaranteed to be nothing more than servants to an economic renaissance centered elsewhere. [...]

In winter, when the lake froze, you could walk out on the ice and climb onto the only remaining ore dock, otherwise inaccessible. I went once with a friend as a blizzard gathered in the northern stretches of the jagged, iced-over wasteland that was Lake Superior. [...] From the edge of the dock, you could see it coming like a giant wall of static. [...] As the blizzard neared, the snow shot horizontally through the dock’s towering concrete pillars, as if we were on some sort of entirely uncontrollable vessel traveling at a great speed towards a destination that we could neither see nor choose. This feeling is what I tend to recall when trying to imagine the true scale of these massive, seemingly immovable economic trends.

MUCC TOUR 2019 “Kowareta Piano to Living Dead” (Live Report)

MUCC’s dedication to the creepy, 1930s aesthetic of their newest concept album Kowareta Piano to Living Dead was evident in the red velvet curtains and elaborate illustrated backdrop – the same illustration as featured on the album’s jacket. A baby grand piano sat center stage, though this one was clearly not broken like the one described in the album title. This piano was being played by guest support member Tooru Yoshida, who lent his talents to enhance the turn-of-the-century sound and atmosphere. Miya’s DJ setup and SATOchi’s drum kit were draped in red velvet as well.

Kowareta Piano to Living Dead is a solid entry into MUCC’s already stellar discography, and though fairly brief at just 9 tracks, every song is so well-executed and such a banger that you still feel satisfied by the end. A plus of the short tracklist is that MUCC was able to perform every one of the songs during their Osaka show.

“Psycho” is a great hard-rock tune that features Tatsuro’s signature harmonica skills. “Iris” is a slow burn, meandering and chaotic, a fresh and wild song that Tatsuro really got into as he and the other members headbanged their hearts out.

During “Jiko Keno”, a single released last summer, Miya appeared to go into a frenzy. He went behind Yoshida and pretended to violently murder him, then slammed his hands and arms onto the piano before Yoshida seemed to come back to life, rising up from the floor to resume his place at the keys. It was an unexpectedly theatrical treat.

“Vampire” had Tatsuro’s charisma cranked to maximum as he abandoned his top hat atop his mic stand so he could freely and expressively gesticulate, and he spiced things up with some wide-stanced hip-grinding against his mic stand near the song’s end. “In The Shadows” is clearly an old-school MUCC song calling back to their hard rock roots when the demo was likely made. It’s a rap-rock song echoing in a haunted house, and it broke the tense atmosphere the impressive ballad “Requiem” left in its wake.

Tatsuro lifted a candle with a burning flame into a lantern before launching into the breathtaking “sekisou”. It was an absolutely arresting performance of the ballad, and a true example of how MUCC has elevated their craft and evolved into a force to be reckoned with. All eyes were on him up until the very end when he blew the candle out.

The highlight of the night was “Living Dead”, no question. If you could serve a ballad to a metal head as a delicious dessert, this is what it would sound like. The light design was fantastic, really setting the mood and locking down the night’s cinematic feeling.

If you happen to have the opportunity to check out the band’s upcoming shows on March 31st and April 1st, do it — even if you have to be the living dead to make it there.
