summer’s end

#had a really nice weekend to round it out u kno #saw Sarah on Friday for pasta and watching reality tv #picked wildflowers on Saturday and went to the dog park and some yard sales with my sister and we had such a good time we’ve been kind of #distant lately so that was really great. and time and my bf went to a mug decorating workshop and then tried a new restaraynt and got giant #margaritas . and watched survivor #Sunday gym kicked ass + moved furniture around and helped my bf paint his bedroom #today went to work first thing then to the lake for swimming and napping in the sun then more work and more gym which also kicked ass #then groceries and making out with my bf now home laundry etc getting ready to go to bed so I can wake up early and take Winston to do some #thing before work and my first classssssss yayyyy #can u tell im tired I made so many typos and fully just used the wrong words… we painted his bathroom . #personal

i know for a fact i have made this post before but for me it's very important that bbc merlin is a pointless tragedy. it wouldn't be good (it's frequently not good anyway but it would be a lot further away from good) if it wasn't a pointless tragedy! it's simply not arthuriana if it doesn't go past the high point of the heroic/legendary/high medieval romance stuff and end with detailed rundowns of exactly how everybody got betrayed and died like that is what makes it real arthuriana to me and not just a silly show about a wizard

this isn't a question about your rewrite but as you are The Warrior Cats Pro i figured id throw it out there... why is it that, even though there have been way more books taking place at the lake territory, both in the main wc series and beyond, than the old forest territory, but the forest territory is still so much more memorable and always what i think of when i think of warriors, and the lake feels so uninteresting and forgettable?

because the lake map FUNDAMENTALLY sucks baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalloons.

In a series about border drama and forbidden relationships, they have put a huge, impassable obstacle smack in the middle of the map. You ever heard the expression, "Tall fences make good neighbors?" This is supposed to be the BAD NEIGHBORS series and they have put the world's tallest fence in the game.

The lake was a fundamentally bad idea. Simple as that.

It was so bad I reworked the Lake Map for my own rewrite.

I made more contested land, such as putting field maples which produce syrup just beyond the Wind/Thunder gorge.

Added Northern Islets and Southern Delta which have value to several clans

Expanded RiverClan's territory so they can hypothetically reach ProtagonistClan, RE: Northern Islets.

I need to make Draft 2 but I also added more uncontested landmarks akin to the old Forest landmarks. For example, ThunderClan now has a patch of old-growth forest. Places like the Owl Tree and Snakerocks are super important as flavorings.

#I could go on but that's really it! #The Lake is geographically a bad idea! #It ruins border drama and that is bad in a series that has always been about border drama. #Forbidden relationships... the logistics of getting from point A to point B... Thunderpaths... Those are all types of border drama really #Even if every Clan was RiverClan. The lake is too large to work with. #It's not a river that you can just. Swim across. #It's a HUGE lake #Unless you were going to reduce it to a pond I guess lol #But at that point it's not a lake it's a pond. #I grew up near a lake actually and I hadn't read to TNP when I started RPing warrior cats with my friends #And GUYS let me tell YOU #We were RiverClan cats and ShadowClan practically didn't exist #Because they were on the Opposite Side of our irl real lake #So even before I got to TNP I would have known there would be a problem with that lake #I have the wisdom of a feral 10 year old #bone babble
