i'm going to be real with you guys for a moment. i don't think i'll continue following bsd much after this point

#i take back what i said about being excited for what's to come. i mean i am. in a very general impersonal way. #but the way the series is going. if the ending of the anime is going to be followed by the manga in a similar direction #is just very different from the silly armed detective agency vs port mafia authors with superpowers slightly high-stakes slice of life #that i originally signed up for. i've felt this way the whole decay of angels arc and just stuck around to see what happens #and because i care about the characters. bsd was always a character-focused manga for me #but the direction it seems to be taking is this massive epic entire-world-at-stake military scifi drama #where super epic power-up style ability weapons (and one-off overpowered nameless ability users are introduced and killed off in the same #scene. like the time manipulation catgirl) take the forefront at the expense of actual character focus and character development #like why are most of the (original) cast completely unaccounted for in what was meant to be a satisfying ending. #did asagiri forget that atsushi is the main character. why did tachihara's and sigma's arcs get cut short like that. #and frankly i feel like bsd started to take this direction from storm bringer onwards. the focus and scope of it is very different #to for example the untold origins or dazai's entrance exam or even 55 minutes. but if i were to theorise i would say that the scope of #the current direction of bsd must have started germinating during the 55 minutes light novel. if you can see what i mean #anyway more importantly i find that the tone is now entirely different from early bsd. it's just not the series that i fell in love with #so i think it's best that i stop here before letting it turn sour like jujutsu kaisen is to me now. #i have the manga (and anime) that i can reread (rewatch) up to the perfect crime arc whenever i want #i can reread the sskk fight of volume 20 whenever i want. i can revisit sigma and nikolai's chapters. there's wan. there's the light novels #and there's the wonderful fanfics and fanart and so many metas to read. that's what brings me joy more than the series itself nowadays. #that's all. end of era i guess. to an extent

anime peaked in that scene from haikyuu after karasuno lost to aoba johsai and they all ate and cried together. that was. so much

#hq is cleansing in that regard. it's designed to make you feel so many emotions at such high intensity #and the thing is. it doesn't feel cheap or just for the sake of emotions. everything is earned and is a result of tension #and this scene. is a result of letting go of that tension. which is why you can't help but cry with them #i will keep on insisting that hq is perfectly written when it comes to its genre. it is unironically the peak. imo #(i don't mean as in. best sports anime/manga. tho that too!) #(i mean like. within the confinements of the genre. it manages to be a perfect story in a way other genres won't necessarily allow) #(but this is a whole ramble i have for another time.)

it's 2023 and i'm still bitter about how kuroshitsuji, a complex slow burn mystery manga, got absolutely massacred by its shitty semi-episodic shota/fujobait anime adaptation

#like yeah the manga could be a bit questionable in the earlier parts (cough corset scene cough comedic relief grelle + soma & agni cough) #but almost all of that got retconned once yana toboso was allowed to have more creative freedom over her work #(and her editor's interference is something we Know had a p drastic effect on the series bc it Literally Gave Us Grelle (toboso wanted to #have a female jack the ripper but her editor said that if she did then she would've had to be working w a man. so in response toboso #decided that madam red's partner in crime would be as effeminate as possible so grelle was created in the vein of buffalo bill and then #only in her next appearance a few arcs later when the book of murder arc was over and done with was she acknowledged to be a trans woman #not the best situation for girlie overall but the manga started treating her much better over time + she slayed) #but the anime was on a whole different level s1 Literally ended while teasing a kiss between a grown adult and a 12 year old #and then s2 just made up random bullshit including a brand new 14 year old to ship bait w adults #and it doesn't help that whenever the series comes up everyone in the surrounding area becomes 50x more susceptible to false info #(see: undertaker's real name being shared around on an image that's literally watermarked by a TUMBLR HEADCANONS BLOG) #so there's a p decent subset of ppl who believe it was originally meant to be a yaoi (rumor that began from the same hc blog) #or that yana toboso is a shotacon (pr.osh.ippers on twt made that one up to try and win arguments) #i want the series to get the fmab treatment w a shiny new anime made by some1 other than a-1 pictures #bc we've seen what happens when they try and adapt the arcs that came out after they committed to the random bullshit plots of s1-2 #in the form of the book of murder circus & atlantic ovas. which are excessively plain and just streamlined disconnected and heartless #renditions of the manga arcs which will make no sense to anyone who hasn't already read it. they're like ufotable's fate route ova but at #least that has higher production values and is somewhat visually interesting #romeo.txt

I know this film was forgettable, not perfect, and everyone didn’t really care for it when it came out, but damn, this scene was good in my opinion. It shows that even if Pixar falls off the rails from time to time, you can always tell they never loose that spark completely that made them a special and important studio in the first place.

real talk this save screen is the absolute most haunting save screen of any game i’ve ever played

dead silence and a black background and after everything that just happened

it’s like the final nail in the coffin to really get across how terrible it all was

#see? im still having a crisis. i had to put the game down for a bit EVEN THO I'VE FULLY BEATEN IT SIXTEEN TIMES #shit like this makes me wish fe4 would get a gen 1 only pair/shipless anime #that being so that nobody can complain about ships and blah blah #or a full anime with both gens with zero indication of the fathers bc nobody needs that drama for an fe4 anime #but since ofc it was an snes game i get why it doesn't show how horrible it was #but i feel like just with what it did give it still gets the whole point across both with the roll call and the save screen #and like yeah I had to put the game down for a bit but I feel like in a sense that's the best way to play it #particularly for first timers tho bc I feel like this part needs a bit to sink in before you continue with gen 2 #You basically just witnessed the worst moment in Jugdral's history and the beginning of societal collapse #and then you get to gen 2 which is almost two decades later showing you just how horrendous the world became after that #to the point that even Alvis' best intentions couldn't fix everything forever #It's stated that things were working out and all under his rule for a while so like... for the most part in general #things were going okay for Jugdral aside from Manfloy behind the scenes doing shit #but then it all comes out and Alvis can only do his best to save things from the inside and not the outside anymore #He loses his influence on the outside world and everything goes to shit so all he can do is save the few people he's able from the inside #You literally go from seeing the worst event happen to seeing the world in post and being told through character dialogue #how bad everything is now two decades later and how horrible the place is to live in #I love Three Houses so much but there's no way it captured that and I say that because #the devs have stated FE4 was a direct influence for TH but even with the timeskip and how bad things got due to the war #was nothing compared to the state Jugdral was in and the events of chapter twelve were nowhere as #devastating as what happened in chapter five of FE4 #I wish FE4 had a little bit more in between the gens just to give you time to let it all sink in because it's so much in hindsight #Even the stuff at Yied went a little too fast sometimes imo #Everything gets progressively worse during the whole of gen 1 and I would've loved for chapter five to be like that too in its own chapter #anyway most influential save screen in gaming history thanks have a nice day/night #DCB Comments
