Email to State Reps
I was just cleaning out my google Drive, as one does, and found this letter I wrote about a month ago:
September 15, 2020
To Whom It May Concern,
I, like most Americans, were shocked to discover that Mass Hysterectomies are being viciously carried out on immigrant women. I was quite distressed on hearing this information, as I am a woman. Due to the thorough history of the United States practicing Eugenics on Black, Indigenous, and Hispanic people in this country (as well as the well documented concentration camps after WWII of Asian Americans), I am incredibly alarmed to find out that this practice is not only alive and well, but it is in my own backyard with T Dodd Hutto.
I do not think it is ok for my tax dollars to go to pay the salaries and benefits of people who are (1) taking away any woman's right to KEEP HER UTERUS, (2) to mother her children, (3) and to be mentally and physically CARED FOR, instead of punished, abused, and raped. It is not okay, and I do not care where she is from, she is still a woman.
In light of that, I have some questions about the T Dodd Hutto “Residential” Center? (It’s a concentration camp, in my view):
Are there any mass hysterectomies being performed on the women held in this center?
How are rape allegations being reported? To whom would a detainee make a report? And what happens after a report is made?
If a woman becomes pregnant at T Dodd Hutto, what would happen to her?
How are you supporting children in this camp who may have learning disabilities and a neurodiverse brain set?
How are you educating children that are within your care?
How is the staff protecting the children and women that are in these camps from Covid?
How many detainees have died from Covid? Were their families notified? What was done with their bodies?
How do family members report incidents of these camps reported from a family member into staff? How are those handled? Do you have a bi-lingual person to translate?
How are you ensuring there is no discrimination occurring on the ground in these camps? How are the facilities trained in diversity? Is it required to know Spanish?
Why does this facility even exist? What purpose for society does it serve? And why is there one in my county?
Thank you for answering these questions. I want to make sure that before I go and protest, I know all of the information so that I can hold well-researched and thoughtful conversations about the concentration camps.
Best,
Antiracist Karen****

Enough!
I am flipping tired of speaking up about this
As black women I feel like we’ve done all we can to create an awareness, to be heard by men, men in government. It’s time perpetrators stop killing us. It’s time real men fought for us. It’s time for them Speak to their gender. Since they can only respect each other, since they speak the same language. It’s obviously hard to listen to a womans cry.
Why is it so hard to not kill women? To not rape, harass, disrespect, discriminate, abuse women? Why is it so hard to treat women like humans? Why is it so hard to treat a human how you would like to be treated?
I can’t believe I live in a country where women are endangered species. South Africa is the fourth country in the whole world with the highest femicide rate. Imagine having to fight racism and also fighting your own race to not kill you, to not rape you, to stop gender based violence.
It is so sad because there is no planet B we could run to. We are stuck here. We are stuck with monsters. Where we are not appreciated nor respected. Where we are not considered worthy to live, to live in peace. This is done by our own. Our own black people.
Men you are flipping hypocrites if you be posting, protesting and preaching about how #blacklivesmatter and still go home and beat up your gf/wife/children, rape, kill, abuse, watch your friends rape. You guys are hypocrites if you do not break out in just as much outrage about femicide. You’re a shame to the human race.
It is not racism you hate. Not benefiting from racism is what you hate.
Even though I am TIRED of speaking about this I’ll never stop!

This is sooo scary y’all. It’s giving #Chernobyl. Via @blackwomenslivesmatter • Vinyl Chloride, a deadly chemical used to make PVC pipes and other plastics, has contaminated the Ohio River due to train derailment. 50 cars on the Norfolk Southern train, including 10 cars carrying thousands upon thousands of gallons of the deadly chemical, derailed in a fiery crash on Friday, February 3rd. Livestock and fish as far away as 100 miles away are dying, seemingly from the fallout of the chemical exposure. The deadly chemical was slowly released into the air Monday from five of those cars before crews ignited it in a controlled environment in an attempt to get rid of the highly flammable, toxic chemicals which ended up creating a dark plume of smoke. Vinyl Chloride only gets more dangerous while it’s on fire. Via @CBSNews: “Officials warned the controlled burn would send phosgene and hydrogen chloride into the air. Phosgene is a highly toxic, colorless gas with a strong odor that can cause vomiting and breathing trouble and was used as a weapon in World War I. Phosgene is considered safe at 0.1 parts per million during an eight-hour exposure, or 0.2 ppm for a 15-minute exposure. The eight-hour exposure threshold would have to be even lower when measuring inside people's homes, where residents often spend more than eight consecutive hours. Hydrogen chloride is a colorless to yellowish gas with a strong odor and its primary effect on humans is skin, eye, nose and throat irritation. It is considered safe at 5 ppm for an eight-hour exposure.” According to rail operator Norfolk Southern and the National Transportation Safety Board, there were no casualties or injuries sustained in the incident. However, exposure to vinyl chloride is associated with increased risk of liver cancer and other cancers, according to the federal government's National Cancer Institute. Residents of the area are outraged and scared of the potential risks involved with them having such close exposure to vinyl chloride. Many were ordered to evacuate last Monday and have not yet been able to return to their homes. It unclear when they’ll safely be able to do so. #BWLM💕 https://www.instagram.com/p/ContzjQL8vv/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

It’s disgusting how...
more celebrities are not using their massive platforms to speak out against Rape Kelly and not only condemn his actions but also apologize for being complicit in his continued success.
People are stopping their bags and courageously standing with Kaepernick in the name of black men being oppressed but when black women are victims of sexual abuse, pedophilia, domestic violence, blackmail, and manipulation it's QUIET.

CW** Talk about rape**
There has been much discussion lately about the invisibility of violence against black women, whether this violence happens at the hands of the police, on the streets, or in the home.

Black girls and women are fighting many types of wars in this movement and being forgotten. Ending white supremacy won’t end misogyny, homophobia, or transphobia, fatphobia, colorism, and ableism. Black girls and women deserve so much more. That energy you all doled out in the beginning of this movement needs to start being reciprocated for them. Black trans/women’s activism has always been at the forefront of revolution. Keep fighting with/for them. . Bicycle Protest 6/8 .
