Week 19.4/52: May 8th - May 14th 2023 | Sukiyaki Dinner  😋

Two days of me running on 5 hours of sleep... all this pain just for super boring convo training... >_> but at least I went out to eat with bf, Jesslyn, and Sunny after our shift. Went to Kumo Sukiyaki for AYCE silver level which included beef & pork belly & vegetables & appetizers. Pretty yum but definitely didn’t have enough time to eat everything because they chased us out after one hour LOOOOL so sad. I was like 95% full but not bloated like I usually am after ayce but maybe that’s for the best (healthier). We went to Minoru Chapel park to chat some more because Kumo had no chill LOOOL literally never ending talking with these kiddos =_= but the weather was so nice and Minoru was so pretty. Went home and packed for Calgary... I am bringing so much food this time HAHAHAHA. No going hungry during convo season!!! Not on my watch!!!

#this is the kind of blow that would have made me actively suicidal a few years ago and yes i realize how stupid that is #as things are now... I'm not coping *well* but I'm managing to hold onto anger so the depression doesn't totally take over #but i can not stop crying #every time i think I'm finally done it starts up again #this has also pushed my anxiety to the point where i feel like I'm going to pass out throw up or both and i can't stop shaking #audiobooks with my noise canceling headphones were my best/only semi-effective tool for dealing with anxiety #and yes i know. reading is a privilege and i should just be grateful that books are available in my country & that we have libraries at all #this year has been one thing after another and even small things like this pile up and eventually become overwhelming #and this happening as my seasonal depression is really ramping up was just the fucking cherry on top i guess #i almost just. deleted this blog lmao. what's the point of having a book blog when i can't really read right? #but i keep telling myself nothing lasts forever and i will regret it if i throw away an 8 year old side blog #but even looking at books is making me feel even more nauseous and shaky right now #so i might be on hiatus after my queue runs out idk #depends on how long this churning pit of despair lasts i guess #and also. this happened at a holiday weekend all i can't even make a 1-2 hour drive to a library to renew or get a new card #because libraries around here close between 4 & 6PM most days and i can't get to one after my partner gets home from work before they close #everything about this situation is like. worst timing.

Updates, Apologies, and Moving Forward!

Hello everyone! I am not dead, and this blog is not dead. I know I've been gone for a very long time again, and I'm very sorry.

I had to say goodbye to my cat, my emotional support animal, my baby. I won't say too much here, but she was suffering, and unfortunately there was nothing that could be done. My mental health is fragile at the best of times, and while I am okay and safe, it has been a difficult few months for me. I am also a full-time college student with a job, so all of my free hours were spent in grief. It's taken me a while to feel alright enough to come back, but here I am. I'm still passionate about queer representation in media, and I want to continue to share queer characters with the tumblr community. Starting tomorrow, I will resume the 8 times a day posting schedule that I was starting to utilize before my disappearance, as queueing posts makes my life much easier. I'm sorry if I don't respond to notes or asks left during my break. It's a lot to sort through and I value community engagement on this blog more than anything but I am just one person and I can only do so much. Feel free to re-send asks! Going forward, I'll be making a few changes. I am working on a publicly available google sheet of all characters that have been posted on this blog with results that I will link in a visible place so that people wanting to submit a character can (hopefully) quickly search to make sure that character hasn't been posted yet. I also will eventually be looking for another mod, although that will not be until the summer and I will make more posts when the time comes. I will personally be awol for the last few weeks of may and the first few weeks of june due to a job opportunity out of the country, but I am intending to have queued posts continuing to upload at the regular schedule during that time. Unfortunately this means I won't be able to edit mistakes or answer questions, but hopefully any issues can be addressed when I return. Thank you all for your patience, I'm sorry that this radio silence has gone on for so long, but I've thought about this blog a lot during my absence and I'm certain that it's not a project I'm giving up on any time soon.

Question for rodney Do you need another admin? I can help if you'd like

First of let me say that this isn't the original ask (that one wasn't anon) I copied the text and submitted it myself to make it anon for two reasons. First reason is I want to keep the posts with the name attached so I'll remember who sent it. Secondly I didn't want anyone to harass the person that sent this if they wanted the job also.

OK with that out of the way. The blog before the pandemic was a lot more active having over 50 asks/submissions a day keeping the queue maxed out constantly. But that was when both Abby and myself were active.

Since the pandemic however the submissions have dropped off significantly to an average of 8 a day. At that level one person is more than enough to keep on top of things. But the good news is that the asks/submissions are growing as there was only 3-4 a day just a year ago. And with Twitter cosplaying as the Titanic, we are getting new followers daily so my hope is that not long from now I will be reaching out for help and I will keep the "applications" in the order they come in.

Thank you all for your support and letting this blog be the vent that helps you from blowing your top at customers.

What are we doing?

We're rewatching Agents of SHIELD as a community to relive to glory days and once again get consumed by the beautiful mess that is our OTPs canon.

But do we stop there? OF COURSE NOT!

We will reblog old fandom creations and hopefully, even create new beautiful art and gifs and fanfic along the way.

How are we doing this?

We will watch one episode a week, starting with the Pilot this Sunday, July the second.

Starting every Sunday, the following week will be under that episode's "theme", for lack of a better word.

This blog will have a small queue with some old goodies from the @fuckyeahphilinda archives, so we can get inspiration.

This means we have one glorious week to share and create for this specific episode before we move on to the next.

Hello guys!

I'm back home and ready to push forward. Looking at the poll, I've decided that it's close enough to justify switching it to a week-long poll schedule.

What does this mean for you?

Functionally, very little. From the dialogue that we've had today, I've come to the conclusion that doing all the first rounds at once is likely a better approach anyway, so even if we kept day-long polls, we'd be doing the same general thing.

The following is a summary of additional changes:

I won't consider the 11 polls released so far. Those Pokemon will be re-shuffled amongst themselves and re-released at the end of the Gen 1 Round 1 cycle.

I've decided to keep my 12th hour reblog schedule as is. Polls will remain open for 1 week, they'll be reblogged 12 hours after they were initially posted, and after that, any further circulation will be up to you guys.

I will be introducing "close call" rematches between two Pokemon who were close-ties in matches with more than two Pokemon. These are likely to be released on "no-poll days" but may be released among another Generations to keep things on track. These will also be a week long. I've decided that this is necessary as the additional Pokemon may have split votes. (I'd do ranked-choice voting if I could, but that's a bit much here.)

I'll be updating the pinned post to reflect these changes once I've got my queue ready!

Additionally, I've decided to face my fears and will try reaching out to Pokemon blogs with large followings to try to spread awareness of the polls. If you know of any such blogs, please attach their urls to this post!

How does that work?

(I think I counted an 41 posts just yesterday alone)

Oh goodness, has it gotten that high? I was wondering if I was posting too a ridiculous amount recently XD; Well, firstly, I managed to accumulate over 400 posts in my queue and that is set to automatically post 8 posts a day between the hours of 8 a.m. and 12 a.m. Because my queue is so high, I have been reblogging stuff straight to dash more recently while I let that go down, which has lent to more daily posts.

Another thing to keep in mind is that I have been on this site for over 10 years, so even with being selective, I have still accumulated a number of people I follow over the years (although many of them post hardly anything at all these days, so even that number if deceiving). I am also up to around 3,000 followers by this point (insane, does not feel like it, I love you though), so in comparison to that, the number of blogs I follow is a VERY small percentage.

But I'd say the final reason is that there are certain people I follow who A) also post a lot and B) post a lot of stuff that aligns with my interests, so we tend to reblog off of each other a bunch!

So, those are the various factors. I DO still follow people whose blogs resonate with what I like, but I'll also unfollow a blog if I'm noticing a higher trend of posts that don't quite match my interests. It's currently on the high side right now as I found myself stressing slightly trying to catch up on my dashboard yesterday, so in those cases, I may be less inclined to check out another person's blog lest I be tempted to follow it and add to my "workload" (this is supposed to be FUN, brain, will you stop stressing over SILLINESS). I probably need to cut back on my tumblr time in general, it's just SO addictive sometimes and I want to see ALL the things! Hope that helps!

Hey Anon...

I'm not sure if you're just joshing me or being silly, or are being serious or whatever but your ask comes off as rude, especially since I try to have a post every half hour or so from 8 AM EST until noon DAILY (since I discovered those are my peak hours), unless I have no content, which y'all provide me with through asks and suggestions. I have posted fic recs EVERY Friday for over 3 years and curate a fic rec list nearly every Sunday unless I take a break / holiday. My blog tags are specifically designed to show me where in the cycle a post is, and, a lot of the "selling" point to this blog is its interactivity (where I check the replies and additions on every post that reblogs each day and I tack it onto the main post).

Granted, I don't post nearly as much as I used to (because it was affecting my mental health, and I have a day job I work between 40 and 60 hours a week with very little free time, and I'm back at the office so I can't post during work hours anymore) so I had to cut my queue back to auto-post 3 posts a day so I don't run out of posts before month's end. I also prep my blog the night before the next day, so I spend anywhere between 2 and 4 hours NIGHTLY, AFTER my day job, to file, answer asks, and schedule posts so that my blog LOOKS active.

AND if no one sends me asks or asks I'm not ready to answer (bad headspace, too long to reply so I save it for another day, etc), then the queue the next day is, admittedly, smaller and instead is about 1 post an hour up until 3 PM EST. All my new posts from asks get answered and posted between 8 AM and 11 AM, unless I have no content / next-day-reblogs, then I slot other asks into the 11 AM until 2 PM slots. I try not to do that on first posting, though, 'cause as I said, my peak hours are early morning so I'd rather have people see those ones first.

When I'm on hiatus, I pin a post to my blog. My Lovelies and Lurkers™ know when I am on Hiatus and are very understanding and know that I am a human being who needs a break once in awhile. I'm sorry I'm not posting up to your standards, Anon, I truly am, but I just physically can't anymore, since like, 90% of my free time is dedicated to either sorting fics or answering asks. And I don't really have the energy to do it at the rate I was doing it when I was working from home. I rarely take a break from this blog as it is.

Perhaps Tumblr has unfollowed you from my blog, which is why you don't see my posts anymore (it has happened, I've had to re-follow people before), but I can assure you, I have new content DAILY unless I have no asks I'm ready to answer. Some days are less than others, because, again, I am only human, and I have no obligation to provide content daily. I do it because I LOVE doing it. But asks like this make me feel like all my work is for naught. *shrugs*

Someone requested a chapter with Taranza, and I identified this chapter as a good candidate. Then someone else requested this chapter specifically, so that’s what I’m doing next.

2. Manmaru Nikki - Volume 5, Chapter 14 [DONE]

I got a request for the chapter in this volume where Meta Knight drives a truck, and this is that chapter. The chapter actually opens in the final battle of Kirby and the Forgotten Land, so spoiler warning if you’re worried about that.

3. Manmaru Nikki - Volume 2, Chapter 8 [DONE]

A chapter in which Dark Matter or Gooey played a major role was requested, and this chapter featured Gooey in a semi-major role and was the best I could find. Dark Matter does make a brief appearance in the very last chapter of Moretsu Pupupu Hour but I think the Manmaru chapter is a better fit.

4. Moretsu Pupupu Hour - Volume 3, Chapter 8 [DONE]

Another chapter that was specifically requested. Features Meta Knight attempting to take over the manga as main character.

There were a couple other requests I got as well, but I’m not sure when I’m going to fulfill them for a couple reasons.

?. A chapter in which Kirby is possessed or brainwashed

Someone requested a chapter like this, but I went through all the volumes I have currently available to me and could not find a single one in which this happens. The closest I found was a Manmaru Nikki chapter in which Kirby and King Dedede briefly swap bodies. If I ever find a fitting chapter, I’ll add it to the queue.

?. Translations from Haikara Walker, a Splatoon art book

Haikara Walker is a huge book, so I’m going to try to just translate and post a few pages at a time (maybe even only one page at a time) on a side-blog so that people who only care about Kirby can easily ignore it. I’m definitely gonna do it at some point (I’m nearly as big a Splatoon fan as I am a Kirby fan, so I’ll wanna translate it even just for myself), but due to its unique status among all the things I’m planning to translate I don’t really know when I’ll start or how much I’ll do at a time.

Phew! That’s about a whole month of chapters right there! On the plus side, my daily life has gotten a bit less busy, so the updates might come faster than usual. Also, I think after I finish these off, I’m gonna translate something I’ve been wanting to translate for a while. What, precisely? You’ll see :)

Blog Update 23.9.13

Hello to all reading, and happy "it's basically fall now!"

TLDR version: the FE2 novelization has been the hardest book set of my translating career, and I have decided that I will alternate uploads of FE2 and the next novel on my list, a much easier one - FE6 - to not exhaust myself.

Things are still doing well for me IRL, but my summer didn't go exactly as planned as far as my translating and blogging goes. I was ordered to come into the office more days a week out of seemingly nowhere, so my guarantied afternoon translating time disappeared completely. I now have another hour cut out of my day. I've kept on pace with the novels because I can squeeze in a little quiet time in the evenings, but free moments to complete all other translating activity have become extremely spotty.

This timed all too terribly with another challenge... the FE2 novel is the most difficult one yet!!

As I've said before, I've set myself up to be 6 months ahead of my tumblr queue on the novel translations. This means I'm already very far into the first FE2 book. And... it's driving me crazy!! Each page is filled with dense paragraphs and tons of high level vocab I've never seen before in my life. I even started thinking maybe I'm rapidly losing my Japanese, and this is the end of my hobby... But when I read anything else in Japanese... no, I still understand it fine. There just so happens to be an FE novel set with some really flowery prose.

Regardless of the challenge, I decided to dive right in, with a feeling that I would find a solution soon enough. It hasn't been easy. I've dropped every other hobby to keep up the 2 pages a day pace I've made my standard. I could easily translate 2 pages in 30 mins to 1 hour while translating FE7 and 8. Now... I can be sitting there for up to 2 hours pushing myself through to the end every day.

But I was right that I would reach the solution soon enough... and it was so simple! Why don't I just take the next book in my lineup - FE6 - and alternate translating and releasing novel sets instead? So that is exactly what I will do. FE6 was written as a set w/ FE7 by the same author, so I know it will be much easier. I breezed through the FE7 translation, even being a 600+ page behemoth between both books!

And everyone waiting for FE6 novel translation will start getting it much sooner than anticipated! Surprise!

Thank you for your understanding as I am continuously figuring out the best way for me to fit as much translation into the little time I have as possible!

All that being said... do be excited for the FE2 novelization next year - it's still my favorite yet in terms of content! With FE2 being on the Famicom and having much simpler storytelling than any FE after it, the story really needed a lot of originality on the writer's part to work as a novel. And did he ever deliver! He really respected all of the story beats of the game, while adding in embellishments to make the characters and battles come to life. He knows how to craft some intense, memorable moments. Plus it is amazing to read this 30 year old novelization after Echoes' release a few years ago - seeing how the author vs. the Echoes team took the story and characters in different directions is a fun comparison. I'll stop myself here so I don't spoil anything yet! ;)

Personal & Project Updates!

First of all:

This blog runs on queue most of the time, I am checking it daily but work eats me.

I can’t get into details but some of you know I changed classes in begin of April and am trying to adjust to the new schedule but shit hit the fan and I had to overtake my old class ON TOP of the new class without a proper assisstant for the latter two weeks ago. I am super exhausted, my social batteries are drained af and i can’t really engage in hobby interactions right now, even managing things that are basic are hard (I get cooking going though). I am working 4 hours less a month after the summer break if ... I am really working my regular hours, we will see.

That on top of me being super sensitive to the summer temperatures and seasonal depression just leaves a hefty mess.

I do stress art, I put it into the blog. That’s why there is content. I need to get the steam out somewhere and there is a point reached every day where sports isn’t doing the trick anymore as my body is just like “heck pls rest for ONCE” ... therefore... tinkering here and there.

I’m glad people like a lot of the things I did in the past weeks, find them inspiring or nice to look at. The queue is always a surprise bag for me, reminding me “hey you did this cool thing, you had progress” every day while digging through the mess my life currently is.

And now for the art/blog related stuff:

Just as a list for myself to remind me I have... things going on.

1. The Earl - Self sculpted head

Has top priority in doll regards, I am currently back at working on the head itself.

2. Rooms

For the rooms I am rearranging the last furniture (had a huge furniture building weekend last weekend), I am trying to find a spot for everything, figuring out who moves in which display and what things to display and all

+ making displays, room boxes etc. for now priority is the ‘living room’/’office’ to focus on one room to get less overwhelmed

3. Dolls

Fizz is the next to be sewn for, I got his fabrics, but nothing more as I focus on the Earl first.

Edward will get a face up.

Once all layaways are paid off and the rooms/my car are not eating my funds I will start getting bodies for the rolling heads.

Rolling heads at home that will get bodies (order of priority): Kanda, Lenalee, Sokrates, “A.”. Later on: Lavi, Bookman, depends on arrival then.

4. Cosplay

I want to make another cosplay for the next convention I aim to work on it during my summer break, that means more focus on something for myself, lesser on the dolls.

5. Drawing

I still stick to finish 5 drawings per week. Sometimes even more, I do stress art, therefore I am drawing a lot.

6. Writing

I do write daily right now but nothing I want to publish. I aim to get the next chapter of ‘Secrets’ done hopefully in June

7. Photobooks

Two more are due to get printed in end of June

8. Weekly photos

I am trying hard to keep that challenge up, drawing and writing is my main focus for stress art right now, though I wake up super early and use the sunrise for pics

I am trying to think of the doll birthdays I have coming up (both 10 years)

9. ...??

I am sure there is more lol but yeah. Shit will keep my mind busy.

Plus, I heard from my mother-in-law that “Hokuto had already gone out earlier this morning”… so I thought I could see him for a chat.

I predicted he would be practicing, being the studious boy he is, and I’ve been proven right.

Yes, yes. Having a light workout in the morning will make the rest of your day pleasant. It’s very advisable.

Hokuto: …Get out; I have nothing to say to you.

Seiya: Ahaha, I don’t believe that’s the correct way to speak to your parents. I don’t mind, but if this was my wife here, she would have cried saying, “Hocchan’s turned delinquent!”

Hokuto: Coming from that woman, I bet they’re just fake tears.

Seiya: I wonder? Turning lies and acts into the “real thing” is what makes a professional actress.

At any rate, as much as I love to ramble on about my lovable wife, it isn’t the focus of our current discussion, so I shall queue it for another time…

Hokuto: I refuse. Get out and never show your face again.

Seiya: See? This is how cruelly he treats me, Jin-kun. Even though I love him so much.

Seiya: Yes. I have not fulfilled my obligations as your father too well, so I won’t demand any filial piety from you.

But I would be dejected to see you catching a cold after neglecting to wipe your sweat.

So please let me do this much, at least. My wife would keep you all to herself whenever she’s around, so I’ve always been disappointed I couldn’t get many of these moments with you.

Hokuto: Who cares. Also, tell Mother not to drape all over me in public the way you do. It’s embarrassing.

Seiya: Ahh, you still hold such human emotions. My wife and I have lost any feelings of shame over such actions long ago, through training.

Jin: Sorry to interrupt, Seiya-san… but do you need something from us? Or was this just an excuse, and you just wanted to show off your sweet quality time with your son all along?

Hokuto: I’m not having any quality time. He’s abusing me. This is power harassment.

Seiya: You know some quite difficult terms, don’t you? But well, Jin-kun, I can see where you’re coming from.

So I’ll be brief. A special DreamFest will be held in Yumenosaki Academy, starting from evening today until tomorrow night.

Hokuto: A special DreamFest…?

Seiya: Yes. I studied this DreamFest thing yesterday — it’s a rather interesting toy.

I believe it can be applied to the actual idol industry with a little more polish.

Hokuto: …That’s like you’re saying the idol activities in Yumenosaki aren’t real.

Seiya: Oh no, I am not calling it “fake” or “for play”.

But it’s something like a trial, one that comes extremely close to actual experience. It functions well as a simulation of the idol industry.

No — experience is our working capital, so this must have been a mechanism somebody laid out to amass it.

Even with surgeons, how many people they’ve cut up has more significance than how many medical journals or books they’ve perused—correct?

Jin: Don’t look at me. I’ve given up on ever being a real doctor, so I can’t confirm nor deny it.

Seiya: Sports doctors and veterinarians are also real doctors, you know.

Speaking of which, you weren’t on good terms with your parents either, were you Jin-kun? There was even a period where they basically disowned you.

Jin: …Well, from the perspective of a highbrow doctor, idol work must’ve looked just like play.

Things got a little complicated and strained ‘cause I felt responsible over not being able to succeed my parents too.

We’re getting along nicely now, though.

Seems like they were genuinely worried for me back when I had those scandals. When I showed up at their home after retirement, they hugged me tight, telling me that “they’re always on your side!”, so…

Seiya: Ahaha. Because their delinquent son finally saw the light?

Jin: Nah, I wasn’t young enough to draw such a sardonic conclusion.

I was touched like a regular guy at how great it was to have a family. Cried some too. …Oh boy, it’s kinda embarrassing confessing all this in front of my student.

Anyway, we’ve gotten off track. It always turns out like this when I talk with you, Seiya-san.

Seiya: I’m sorry. Apparently, I’m not very good at holding conversations. One-way communication is acceptable enough as an idol speaking over a camera… I’m not used to conversing.

Returning to the main subject; I apologize for the sudden news, but this is just how things are… Rain-bows will be participating in the special DreamFest with us.

Just a little 'shadow ban' update. It's been about two weeks, and I'm still waiting. Everyone keeps telling me to just make a new blog but I'm stubborn, dumb, and lazy (much like my muse). So I'm going to keep waiting it out. Most I've seen it take is a week so if things don't change by end of October, I might re-evaluate. THAT BEING SAID. Someone mentioned yesterday (very smart of them) that the reason I might not be getting as many memes sent in is because people don't get notified when I post new things. This is true, BUT. There's also a secret (ish, not really) around this. Tumblr will indeed still notify you if I post anything with your name. That being said, once you click the notification, POOF. Nothing will show up. Vanishes like magic. If you get a mysterious vanishing notif, it's probably be interacting with you in some way (unless you have another shadow banned friend). There are also two ways around it, one of which is going to be more effort. What can you do to see if you missed a reply from me? Check my blog every night. My queue ends at 5:30 PM EST, and posts 8 times a day. So if you're logging on and you really want to know, you can always look and scroll through the last day's posts. Effort, yes, but definitely doable.

And if you can't do that? The other way. Once my blog is finally out of the shadow realm, I'm going to make a post, stating to like the post if you want me to let you know what you may have missed during the lovely month of October. Fortunately I'm really great at tagging my stuff with your usernames, so it's really easy to search my blog and find all things that have been posted to each and every one of you. I want to be able to do that for you guys once the ban is lifted, and I'll send you any posts that don't have responses yet. That doesn't mean there's a rush to reply to them, and for all I know maybe you DID see them and haven't replied yet, but at least then all our bases are covered.

All that said, keep sending things. I don't want to feel like I've disappeared just because this site is being dumb. In fact, I'm about to go through and start hacking away at the 200+ meme responses I owe, so I'm definitely getting to them. And if you haven't sent any in because you think I'm ignoring ones you previously have sent? Oh don't you worry, I'm not. I just have a ton to write. But no, that doesn't mean I'm overwhelmed either.
