thinking that what happened “wasn’t bad enough” is a sign that it was.
your brain wouldn’t be trying to protect itself from the reality of what happened if what happened didn’t hurt you.
questioning if your trauma “counts” as trauma is a sign of trauma.

do you want any positivity/recovery blogs you recommend? my recovery blog is @energia-angelical and i really want to see more of that kind of content on my feed. thank you 🤍
If you're asking for recs, the ones I remember on the spot who are currently active and create frequent original content are @positiveautistic @thelatestkate @thesadghostclub @chibird @a-bright-ray-of-sunshine @wheresmybubble @bookm0use @dewdropdarlings @dimpledthings @wholeheartedsuggestions @sweetestsuggest @suggestionsofkindness @slfcare @slightlyaggressiveaffirmations @energysavingselfcare @tiniest-validations @gentleaffirmations @soft-spice @traumasurvivors and @awake-society - but I follow a lot of amazing blogs and my memory isn't great, so this is in no way a comprehensive list. I think it's a good place to start, though!

After seeing some callout posts for blogs like furiousgoldfish that post trauma content people find helpful I want to make a master list that consists of trauma blogs that are safe to reblog from.
@bookm0use comes to mind as a really good blog. They post a lot of positive content and are supportive of trans survivors
@compassionatereminders is run by Kat and she is amazing
@traumasurvivors is amazing too. She is trans inclusive and also suffers from bpd so she’s understanding of personality disorders (unlike furiousgoldfish).
@positiveautistic isn’t focused on trauma so much but posts some really great content I find helpful!
Please suggest more and I’ll add to the list!!

Stained glass, pastel rainbows, bird calls, plants growing out of the sidewalk, old used books, creaky floorboards of a loved house.

there’s nothing heroic about burnout. there’s nothing heroic about not sleeping, or forgetting to eat because you’re so focused on wanting to help someone.
save the world, but the world includes you.

resenting yourself for where you aren’t won’t change where you are.
you can’t hate yourself into healing.

you don’t need to be in a romantic relationship for your life to be complete.
you don’t need to be in a romantic relationship to feel grown-up.
you don’t need to be in a romantic relationship to be a valuable & worthy human being!

healing takes time.
just because you don’t feel better instantly doesn’t mean that what you’re doing isn’t working.
give it time. give yourself love and care and gentleness. it’ll be okay.

there are no prerequisites to starting to recover. no “rock bottom” you need to hit, no sob story you need to live through.
recovery looks like you asking for what you need. looks like speaking up for how you can heal and centering your own power and knowledge.
starting to recover can be terrifying and dramatic, yes. but it doesn’t have to be that way for everyone, and it certainly doesn’t have to be that way for you to be valid.

take it a day at a time.
or if a day is too much, an hour.
if an hour is too much, a minute.
if a minute is too much, a breath.
inhale. exhale.
you are still alive. you are still here.

you don’t need to be suffering to benefit from mental health care.
you don’t need to be failing your classes to benefit from accommodations.
suffering is not a prerequisite for your experience to be valid and for you to deserve care, whatever that looks like for you.
