Shuggie Otis, son of Johnny Otis, wrote and released “Strawberry Letter 23″ as a single in 1971. The song became a major hit for the Johnson Brothers, who recorded it in 1977.
Shug Otis - age 16 - was the bass player on Frank Zappa’s “Peaches En Regalia” from the Hot Rats album
Shug Otis rejected an offer to replace Mick Taylor in The Rolling Stones in 1974.
