For as long as I have been riding (over 30 years), I believe the bike industry doesn’t cater enough to heavy-weight riders (I have broken parts, within reasonable riding situations, only to be told “it wasn’t designed to do that”, but I had a few brands that stood by their products and replace the items). But many seem to cater to the 150-175lbs riders as the perfect weight and with many products maxing at 220lbs (250lbs if you’re lucky). Especially when it comes to setting up suspension, the chart on my fork is only recommended air pressure up for a 200lb rider, anything after is a guessing game as long you don’t go over the max pressure. I even tried using an online calculator by the same manufacture for this fork and after putting in the number, it calculates to set the fork to max pressure of 200lbs. This fork would be pogo stick if I did that. With all that said I dropped in four tokens to reduce the volume of the fork and hopefully I can get some decent cushion without almost bottoming out (just riding over a few bumps at the 25% sag with two tokens). I guess it’s too hard to spec a fork that can handle the weight of the bike and (future customer) rider. I’m hoping the four tokens will do the trick.
