a nuance to the uni/school thing is also i think that like... for most humanities subjects in the uk you mainly won't have "classes" in the form of lessons (languages i think would be a key exception here), you'll have lectures which are a one-way thing and then seminars which are more discussion based and involve reading/prep work beforehand, and at some unis you'll have smaller group tutorials or supervisions
but like. the pedagogical culture is a bit different i think? it is much less like school and more heavily reliant on independent learning. you might only have a handful of contact hours a week and everything else is you in a library doing the reading or whatever; you're not gonna have a lot of short assignments and quizzes so much as, like, a bunch of research essays (how many will vary heavily by course and institution) so it's more like Doing Research than doing Homework the way you would at school, even early on in undergrad
and this is partly due to specialising earlier rather than having gen ed courses so you've got a much narrower range of modules to be doing yunno
(this doesn't apply to like, stem subjects. they've got labs and shit. god knows what they're doing over there.)

you all know that audio from bladerunner? "you look lonely i can fix that"?? my brain wouldn't let me rest until i haven't drawn that with Sun n Moon
but jokes aside, really self-indulgent comic bc both Security Breach and Ruin came out when i was at a low point mentally and helped me greatly just be able to move forward and get through each day (and i won't even be getting into how much these 2 fictional robot jesters have helped me refind my passion for drawing)
i really hope that more people can relate to this :))

You ever get nicely into studying but then have to stop to take your recently broken glasses to the optician and when you get back there's suddenly this block stopping you from studying and suddenly it's 2.30 am and you only now open your notes and then it's 3.40 am and you have to go to sleep because your exam is in 5 hours and you are utterly fucked and you really should have studied during those 6 hours you've spent scrolling on phone? Did I mention the exam is for 5 credits. Yeah

I didn't get into an art uni for the 4th time, and the worst part was that on the exam interview the teacher recognized my xiu xiu shirt and we talked about my favorite bands and what books I was reading at the time T__T He was literally the only person irl who asked... AND HE DIDN'T LET ME IN...
