Vash continues with a shy expression, "Since we're together now..." he trails off and Wolfwood picks up, taking a sip of water as he says thoughtfully, "Together, huh..." Vash pauses in his sentence with a look of confusion before reaffirming, "We are together, right?" Wolfwood nods, "Right." Vash says, "Right", before continuing, his shy expression returning, "Then you can use stuff like... honey or-" Wolfwood cuts in this time and says casually, "You're not a honey though." A panel cuts of Vash's expression changing again, shocked. He asks, "Huh? Then who is?" Wolfwood says immediately, "Milly." Vash exclaims, "Milly?!" Wolfwood continues, "She's sweet, just like honey." A bubble pops up of Milly smiling as Wolfwood speaks. Vash continues, "Okay, true... What about sweetpea?" Wolfwood responds, "Kids. Kids are sweetpea. And pumpkin too." Vash continues, "Okay... What about baby?" Wolfwood says without hesitation, "Meryl." Vash exclaims again, "Meryl?!" Wolfwood explains," Noisy, like a baby." Vash mutters, "Hey, that's a bit mean..."

Vash continues persistently, "Then what about babe?" Wolfwood shrugs with a grin, "You are not a babe." Vash looks at him, slightly frustrated before exclaiming with flushed cheeks, "Then what am I?!" Wolfwood points at his hair and smiles softly, "I told you. You're the one and only needle nogging." A panel closes in on Vash's widen eyes, cheeks still red, pausing before he ultimately resigns, planting his face into the palms of his hands and muttering, "I give up..." At the same time, Wolfwood sneaks and grabs the plate of food that Vash left unattended, saying in response, "You get up cuaght up about the dumbest things, y'know that?"

The comic then picks up again to a jump in time, after they've left the restaurant. Wolfwood muses to Vash, "You said all that about the names earlier, but I don't hear ya using them for me." Vash looks to him excitably and asks, "Did you want me to?" Wolfwood looks at him with an uncertain expression, "Not really, but I guess I am curious..." Vash beams, "Then let's try some, okay... dear?" He fingerguns Wolfwood with a grin, little hearts surrounding him. Wolfwood just looks at him neutrally and says, "Okay," while thinking to himself, "Cute..." Vash exclaims, "So unenthusiastic!"

The next comic picks up at a different time, but on the same theme of pet names. Vash hugs Wolfwood and says to him, "Thank you, my love." A panel close up of Vash steadily opening his eyes before he sees Wolfwood's reaction up close, his eyes glancing away, cheeks flushed, and the smoke out of his cig forming soft hearts as he mutters, "Sure..." In a smaller, cartoonish style, Vash has a comedically exaggerated expression of shock and widened eyes as he grips Wolfwood by the shoulders while Wolfwood still wears a shy expression. He then nudges his head to the side of Wolfwood's with a close eyed happy smile, hugging him close and says, "So, there WAS one you liked!" Wolfwood, still looking away, but now with an irritated and embarrassed expression, grumbles, "Shut up..."

The final image is a short sequence. Wolfwood is working on something, spacing out as he does, while Vash from off screen calls for him, starting with "Babeeee? Babe? Beautiful? Honey? My love?" All of which gets no reaction from Wolfwood. Vash pauses for a moment before piping up again, "wolfwood?" Wolfwood turns around, finally noticing that Vash was calling for him and asks, "What?" I've only read a few fics where this happened but they focused more on say shipping. Not me crying because I had a really bad beginning of 2023 and signed up for a program that would proceed to make the rest of my 2023 rough and I spent the whole first three months of 2023 trying to pick myself up and motivate myself like "I'm gonna make it through this year if it kills me" and well look at that I made it

I love LOVE the area. #new job gives me very nice salary so I get myself a nice apartment all to myself #January 2023: Company I moved for decides to close Oregon location. Offers me choice to relocate again to CA this time #*panic because I can't afford my apartment without that salary and I'm still on a lease for 7 more months. Also I love Oregon so much* #*continue to panic because there are no other companies nearby doing that same type of niche work so I'd be giving up my career if i stay* #February: Ultimately decide to stay in OR and figure it out. Look into my options #March: Sign up for an accelerated program to learn software engineering #Interview for it and get accepted. Take out loan to pay rent so I can stay in apartment where I'm settled and comfortable and can focus #My last day at my old company comes and I am officially unemployed #April: Start the program. Most bootcamps are 3 months. This one is 7-8 months. Up to 11ish if you struggle and need to repeat some sections #It's like 70-80 hours a week of commitment to both classes and homework #Mentally prepare myself for the rest of 2023 to be hell and possibly early 2024 #Still no idea how well I'll pick up software engineering so I might struggle and take up to 11 months #May through November: thankfully it turns out I'm really good at picking up the logic. i’ve just read Most Of Usagi Yojimbo in five days and i’m insane now. sorry anyone who wanted my brain for literally anything else. cannot stop thinking about this rabbit man and the edo period. cannot stop thinking about how he and tomoe ame are foils gee tomoe how come the author said you could have TWO narrative foils except she succeeded where he failed. she saved noriyuki where mifune’s son died. there’s another world where usagi’s the nanny/bodyguard/advisor to a child who inherited too soon, and in that world tomoe’s the wandering ronin because no one was there to save her and her lord on their desperate flight to get him confirmed. i need someone else to lose their mind over this comic with me.

To be quite honest, Randall couldn’t remember ever being hugged before, and as a result, he had a bit of uncertainty about how to go about the whole thing: How long should the hug go on for? Should he hug her tighter? Should he try to pet her hair to comfort her? 

These and a hundred million other questions quickly began to bubble up in Randall’s mind as he stood there, very slowly but surely willing himself to unwind and not be so tense, to relax into the hug a little more and not seem so nervous (he wasn’t sure if he wholly succeeded in that endeavor though, honestly). He just decided that he would let Emily dictate the length of the hug-she could pull away when she wanted to, and so he would too.

Honestly, though, despite all these questions rattling around in his mind, Randall found himself mostly marveling at just how warm Emily was. He wasn’t sure if she was just feverish (he sincerely hoped not) or if she was naturally warm (or, at least, much warmer than him), but either way, her warmth was lovely, and it made him sort of dread the idea of pulling away, and being cold once again.

This post is meant to spark discussion, not make people fight or to attack anyone, so please keep that in mind even if you don’t agree with everything I say. I’m not here to evangelize, just to give food for thought.

That being said, I’ve seen a lot of people recently propping up the “lesser of two evils” rhetoric on tumblr, and I am going to be honest: it very clearly comes from a place of fear. I understand, the political climate is frightening right now. But if we continue to approach the situation from a place of panic, prioritizing damage control, we are going to be slowly but surely overwhelmed by the amount of damage we are trying to control. We need to fight for overarching change.

Whether or not that change will come from the electoral system is debatable, but clearly voting is an exigent issue at the moment, so if you believe in that system and put your faith in it, I would urge you to consider voting for someone you don’t think is even a little bit evil. I’m not here to judge you if you’re not ready to do so this election cycle, because yes, I understand that actually getting a third-party candidate in the executive branch in 2024 is a long shot. But I really hope that if you truly want and believe in large-scale change, you have the ability to believe that even just the small change of electing a third party candidate is possible.

If you really agree that by-and-large, Democrat candidates are working against us (albeit less so than republicans), I would encourage you to work to make third-party candidates more viable instead of just accepting that you’re going to end up with a shitty politician either way.

There is plenty of time between now and the election after this one. If you want a non-evil candidate, I would urge you to do what you can to lay the groundwork for one now, so we don’t enter our next election cycle with the overwhelming sense that we have only two options and they both suck ass. The only thing standing between us and a third party win is the allure of habit and the work of organization. I would suggest you research candidates you actually like. Campaign for them, post about them, talk to your friends, family, and neighbors about them.

Every time the election cycle comes around again, we get thousands of new voters who aren’t in the habit of voting for the lesser of two evils, who may be ready for a non-evil candidate. There are many, many people who are dissatisfied with both parties. Electing a third-party candidate is not impossible, just difficult.

#even if third party doesn’t win the impact of talking about political issues and building community in your area will be a net positive #it’s something I’m trying to do more #a scary process but also one that can be fun and rewarding #start small and safe if you need to #maybe join a leftist group in your area or show up to a city council meeting #but please please do start instead of settling #we cannot afford to continue just reacting to human rights breaches as they arrive #or as they are most relevant to whatever marginalized group(s) we most identify with #we are all globally subject to vast systemic issues that the U.S. continues to perpetuate #we can’t afford to believe that people in power who do blantantly don’t care about Palestinians when it is profitable not to #will care about us when it ultimately becomes more profitable to allow us to die as well #I was voting blue no matter who last election cycle so I get it but it is so clearly not working #a blue president is in office rn and things are by and large just getting worse or being ignored
