Hi! Do u have any writing tips? bc I’m literally so in love w the way u wrote! From dialogue to scene setting to thinking of cool concepts I’m just in awe!!! 😘
omg that’s so sweet thank you bb — ok I don’t know I have any tips exsctly but I’ll do my best!
dialogue
for writing pre established characters (like from a show or manga or whatever), I try to capture their voice based on their lines in the manga / anime — I try to get the cadence and manner in which they speak.
for example, satoru is a lot more flippant and tends to get irritated and exclaim, while suguru is more calm and cool, but with an undercurrent of that same cocky attitude satoru has.
try to look at lines and quotes from the character and practice writing lines that you think they would say.
For me I try to hear it in their voice — I watch both the dub and sub for jjk, so sometimes I imagine gojo’s English va saying something I wrote and if I think I can hear gojo saying it — I know I did a good job!
For all characters to get believable dialogue, just think about whether this is a believable thing someone would say (obv depends on what you’re writing) but sometimes you have to consider whether this is a sentence an actual person could string together or not.
scene setting
this was something I struggled with as a writer and I think the only way I got better was by reading personally. reading and rereading descriptions other writers have strung together and trying to take inspiration from that (obv no plagiarism) but like figuring out how and why they included certain details
scene setting is about grounding the reader — otherwise the reader doesn’t know what the characters are doing or are or how it makes them feel. They are just floating aimlessly.
a good exercise is think about how you feel when you enter a space — what you notice, what you tend to see, how it makes you feel, what you think about — writing is all a reflection of reality (to some extent).
a setting is also not about what you just see but how it makes you feel — a living room could make you feel cozy, while a sterile hospital room could make you feel anxious (depending on the character).
concepts
for me, concepts for fanfiction usually just come from consuming other media — like my yakuza fiance fic inspired by a manga by the same name or my emo choso fic was just based on me seeing a TikTok with the song hey emo boy! edited with choso clips.
other things that can help are friends — hannah is the one who spawned the whole professor geto + gojo thing and then you guys also helped roll the ball along as well with all your asks and ideas!
prompts + common tropes can help inspire concepts as well!
general writing tips
just write the thing! sometimes I have to write a skeleton of a fic to get an idea out — sometimes I have to rewrite the same thing a million times to get it right but doing it will always make you a better writer than if you didn’t. i have rewritten the novel I’m working on three times and I’ve scrapped like 350 pages rewriting. sometimes you have to just write
do some planning, don’t try to plan everything - for me I’m not a planner but even I have started creating bullet points of scene ideas to get a flow of how the fic will go. but don’t plan everything because you can get too caught up in the weeds and then miss out on the actual writing, plus things change while you write as well.

JJK season 2 episode 21 thoughts! ✨
Tumblr media
Went into this episode expecting the iconic “I am you” scene to be animated, left with two incredible works of art now ingrained into my memories (todo and takada-chan beating up mahito)
All this about Todo wanting to imitate All Might from MHA last episode, but I’m thrilled that the animators confirmed that Todo is actually living the magical idol anime dream that Gege Akutami initially was going to write before starting JJK. AND managed to make the volume cover I never really liked into a beautiful and hilarious moment 💗✨
Music / ost worked the entire episode and went silent when it was needed. Some of the previous eps had parts with their pacing or music that lessened the emotions of the scenes (e.g. right after Nanami died), but everything here flowed well!
As much as I like talking about JJK, sometimes, at my core, I just like watching a good and entertaining fight scene, and that was a majority of this episode until the end. It battle shonen’d in the best way a battle shonen can be. It’s a satisfying feeling to have snail mahito, a birthday, a magical girl segment, and a metaphorical rabbit wolf clashing of truths all in one fight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The voice acting still amazing with every episode—Mahito and Yuuji being the highlights. I’ve said this a few times, but Mahito’s VA captures the (literal) childish personality and mindset of his character. Last episode, it was how he threw around and yelled at Yuuji like a kid throwing around a doll. This ep was along the same lines, with him immediately crying and throwing dirt at Yuuji. It’s not the exact same, since he is a curse, but it shows how he just came into being and was constantly learning and curious about the world. And the second Yuuji actually badly hurts him, stops him from running away, and repeats similar beliefs back to him, he breaks down. They really are the “same.”
Now Yuuji!!! His new conviction, if it can be called that, about being a cog made to kill curses until he’s worn out. Not exactly the healthiest mindset, but it’s an unsurprising progression after losing control of his own body/autonomy, losing his mentor and best friend (both figures of reassurance and hope), having his entire foundation for living and abiding by his grandpa’s dying wishes be challenged—all while needing to keep moving forward, to not fall into complete despair.
The voice acting in his speech back to Mahito sounded lifeless, but authentic to what he now believes. I appreciated how little the VA gave emphasis to any words and spoke it all in one similar tone. Some of the way it was spoken also sounded like it was affected somewhat by his mouth wound, which was a nice touch.
Manga spoilers for the points below‼️
Continuing: Yuuji’s new mindset is faulty and I love how much the episode shows the flaws of how Mahito and him thought, and how they’re both still incredibly young with their views constantly challenged by their new experiences. We get what’s supposed to be a cathartic scene of Yuuji killing Mahito and stalking him like a predator towards a prey animal, only to have the final killing blow be taken by Kenjaku, another predator (when your mom steals your deserved murder 🙄).
I’ve always appreciated how this moment was not presented as this great turn of beliefs that leads to success, and instead immediately gives him this unfulfilling and destructive outcome. Like, I’ll take Yuuji beating Mahito as a momentary win, but it’s not going to work out in the long run for himself or anyone. Which makes me interested in where his character is headed for the rest of the manga. There’s probably more to say with him regarding the story’s themes on strength/weakness, enlightenment, hunger, etc., but I love what we are given here.
His entire cog in a machine (of war) also reminds me of the series’ title emphasizing endless repetition of fights and everything looping (got the translation from the blog at kylescooter.com). JJK has constant examples and themes of past generation vs new generations, traditional vs unconventional, etc, but also repeating history and being stuck in the same ways. This post is already too long, but I wonder how Gege will conclude all this and if anything will change.
Said up there that there wasnt anything I disliked about the episode, but I do wish wolf Kenjaku was added! Not just because I adore the scene (for its imagery and hinting at them being related), but also because it would’ve been cool to transition out of that scene by having wolf Kenjaku show up.
Next ep will have Choso, the Kyoto school, Kenjaku, Uraume, and Yuki!! Also that Mei Mei scene which I am absolutely dreading.
Also the next ep preview with Kenjaku was fun

Top 10 Best Polish DUBs part 2
6. The Ice Age franchise, similar to the Shrek and Madagascar franchises, seems to be way more popular and liked in Poland than in the USA. While the general sentiment in the US is that the first one is somewhat of an underrated classic and the best and every single one got only worse and worse. Meanwhile, in Poland, its sequels are held in much higher regard. Yet again, it's thanks to the funnier dialogue and much better voice actors. Sid became an iconic character just like Donkey from Shrek or King Julian from Madagascar, most likely thanks to the fantastic work of Cezary Pazura, an actor and voice actor who makes everything he's in so much better. Piotr Fronczewski as Diego is also great with his warm fatherly voice he sounds way more sincere. If Diego had the same voice in the English version he would have even more simps fans. Wojciech Malajkat is great as Manfred. He would later voice Puss in Boots from Shrek. As the franchise went on not only the quality of writing went downhill but also they started casting celebrities instead of the real VAs or even regular actors. Queen Latifah, Drake who was in like 5 minutes of a movie.
Tumblr media
7. Winx Club is way better in Polish, in my opinion. I don't know if it's because their VAs aren't actual teenagers who don't have as much experience, or if they're adults trying to sound like teens and failing miserably, or if their voices are just that annoying. Whatever the case might be the Polish actors strike a great balance between sounding mature but youthful at the same time. Like teens that are on their way to becoming adults but still with some childish tendencies. Not a twelve-year-old trying to sound grown-up or a 40-something-year -old trying way too hard to be cool and hip with the kids. And Polish versions of the songs are amazing.
Tumblr media
youtube
8. Totally Spies makes their heroins sound way more mature just like Winx Club. To not repeat myself let me tell you about something different, the dialogue changes. It's not censorship or completely changing the meaning of the dialogue but the vocabulary. In the show, they are very much Valley girls. In the Polish version, they still use slang that was (and still is) used in Poland at the time but they also were capable of using big words. Maybe English slang is more annoying, at least to me.
Tumblr media
9. W.I.T.C.H. BLAH BLAH better and more mature voices BLAH BLAH better and funnier dialogue BLAH BLAH. What is worth mentioning are the voices of the male characters. Caleb's English VA doesn't fit him whatsoever. I know Greg Cipes sounds like that even as an adult but still. If Caleb looked like his comic version he would be fine but not when he looks like he is 18 or older. Imagine my shock after growing up with the Polish deep manly voices only to watch the English version and hear boys who haven't finished going through puberty yet. I've heard that the Polish language is sometimes referred to as snake language because of the ć, ś, ź, ż, sz, cz, and many other sounds, so Cedric's VA has a time to shine. English Phobos sounds more whiny than menacing.
Tumblr media
10. Shark Tale is regarded as one of the worst animated movies ever both in terms of animation and the story. Highly exaggerated in my opinion. I mean it's not great but it's not Food Fight, Video Brinquedo, Animated Titanic, and many others. I think why it's not as hated by me and many other Poles it's thanks to its dubbing. I don't know if you know this, but there is a Polish comedy ''Kiler''. The whole plot of the movie is that the main character is mistaken for a killer. So, the Polish dubbing of Shark Tale is basically a parody of this movie. They even got Cezary Pazura (the guy playing Sid) who played the main guy in ''Kiler''. Instead of gay-lisped Jack Black we have Jarosław Boberek aka King Julian. Now that's a team-up better than the Avengers.
Tumblr media
It was a surprisingly hard list to make, not because there are no great Polish dubbings but because there are so many good ones. Any movie or show could've been on the list. To make it easier I asked myself ''What Polish dubbings are better than the original?'' and ''What dubbings had the biggest impact on me but also on my country as a whole?''.
The reason why most of the list consists of shows and movies from the early 2000s is because that's when Poland had a little golden age. There were a bunch of great movies and shows coming out, so it was easy to strike gold. (And that's when I was born.) Now with all the trash coming out, it's way harder to do. The translators for ''Wish'' tried their best to fix those broken lyrics.
But nobody's perfect. I'm a firm believer that there is no terrible Polish dubbing but they still can make mistakes, questionable decisions, and voices that will make you switch the channel until they stop talking.
See you soon, in ''Top 10 worst Polish DUBs''.

I still remember it like yesterday. I don’t think anyone forgets the first time they saw it. It’s crazy looking back at how long it’s been. I always assumed I’d be a fan for a few weeks at most…not 6 years and counting. Gravity Falls changed my life in ways I still am discovering. And now, 6 years on from that cold February evening in 2017 when I finally decided to give this 40-episode masterpiece a try, I still find looking back at it all so insane and why I fell for Alex Hirsch’s creation over literally anything else I could’ve.
I think after the show itself and the impact on me which I’ll mention later, the fandom’s full of life mentality and kindness was what got me hooked not even a week into it. I mean, I was a year late, so I didn’t think I was gonna find anyone left. I began on Gravity Falls Amino in 2017 and I don’t think I ever expected to find the GF fandom to be so alive and thriving, despite it at the time being a year on from the finale. I think to this day that’s something I love about it; yeah, it’s not as big as it was at its peak. But it still is alive and well despite it being so long.
I think alongside just how alive the fandom was, it was also just the kindness of fans that kept me going. I afraid when I joined at first and felt intimidated at times. I was the new kid on the block. Were fans going to welcome me in or mock me for being late and gatekeep me out like I was less for not being a fan when it was airing? Well, I think the answer is pretty clear. I’ve been in so many fandoms since and while GF’s isn’t always perfect, the kindness in this fandom on all medians I’ve been on is incredible. Old fans are so supportive and helpful to new fans, new fans with curiosity bring new ideas to the table and help keep the stories alive and more. I see it on this the GF sub whenever a new fan is welcomed in for finishing the show or on other sites when they share art or ideas and more that watching GF gave them. I see it in old fans who return because they’ve been reminded about why they loved this show so much or the continued love from fans who never gave up on GF even when Next Summer became less a possibility and more a tear causing goodbye.
Yeah, we have our ups downs as a fandom, but we all are collectively here because we love this cartoon and what it means to us all. Whether you think the show ended perfectly or not, think Dipcifica is the best ship or Wendip is, think Bill is alive or dead, hate or love Mabel or Ford and more, we all are Gravity Falls fans first and foremost and that is something we all are aligned by.
Gravity Falls also made me love animation again after a year of just being away from the median. I’ve gone on to watch so many other cartoons since it. While I admit I still sometimes find myself trying to see if it can live up to GF, which is of course never the way one should watch another show; by comparing it to another, I do owe GF for my renewed passion. It made me not only love animation, but also find a great deal of respect and admiration for the people who make them. From creators to animators, writers to VA’s, Gravity Falls was a huge reason why I now watch every new cartoon with a greater deal of respect for those who work to make the median so incredible.
There is so much more I could say about Gravity Falls and its impact on me…be it the channel I created through it and video creating skills I learned through working with it, the fanfics, the fanart, the communities I’ve had the chance to be part of cause of it, the good and bad from the people and events I’ve been part of from it, or even the renewed appreciation for those I care most about because I saw so much in me in Dipper and Mabel’s sibling relationship. But the thing is…when I found this show, I was at a low point in my life and at the least hopeful for the future.
I was in a real bad place mentally speaking. Really just questioning where it all went wrong and not being able to find a reason to crack a smile anymore. I was the least optimistic I ever was about the future. And then for some reason, I decided one day, after seeing a video about how it ended well, I’d give this cartoon I barely heard about but knew the existence of, a chance. I mean, what was the worst that could happen? I think everyone has their own story for when it hit them in relation to their reason to love this show. I have to be honest, I think the defining reason for me is now lost to time or buried deep in my memories now…but the combination of just Gravity Falls’ pure fun feeling, mystery and emphasis on fan interaction, as well as nostalgia factor really got me excited. But there was one other reason I fell so hard into the fandom and this show; the reason why it got me good...Escape.
It was almost like an escape from reality. For those first few months, I was nonstop Gravity Falls fandom. I scrolled through Amino on the daily to see what people were posting about it, checked Alex Hirsch’s Twitter to see what was new, checked the GF sub to see what was up and more. It was just wake up, classes, come home and obsess over GF, sleep, repeat. I think it’s taken me a long time to realize that at times, Gravity Falls was my Mabeland; my escape from the troubles of real life and the real world. But while it may have been easy to let this obsession become unhealthy and consume me and yeah, at times I feel it may have, I think in a way, it helped me reignite my motivation for the future and the next chapter ahead.
I think seeing Dipper tell Mabel that the future is not something to be afraid of and that going through it with someone who cares, was something I needed to hear and come to understanding the meaning of. Talking to people and finding ways to overcome it. I always thought I was more like Dipper but truthfully…those eyes of fear and the future Mabel had in Vs the Future were the ones I had in the lead up to this day 6 years ago when I gave episode 1 a watch. It’s ironically why I ended up loving her character more when so many others began to hate her. That fear Mabel had was something I understood. Not knowing if you’ll be okay in the future and who was there for you…Mabel really was my guide into and out of that emotion.
And slowly but surely, life got better and better. I did still have my ups and downs here and there and times where I wondered why I made this turn instead of the other with life (still do), but then, each turn was always gonna lead somewhere and by the end, I found my way out. I think now I am at the most stable and just mentally okay place I’ve been in for years. Gravity Falls wasn’t the reason I found my way out of that dark place…but it did give me the motivation and assurance that I needed to hear in order to do it myself.
I still don’t know what the future holds. Hell, even just last year I questioned if I’d still be here in the fandom to mark 6 years. Life is an up an down roller coaster with bumps that all try to throw you off. If you hold on too lightly, you’ll fly off and be lost, but if too strong, you won’t enjoy it. It’s a case of finding that balance. I had held on too lightly before I found GF. Then for a while I held on too hard as I used it as a means to escape. Being able to find the right grip to be able to take life for a spin but retain control was not easy, but I needed to do it if I ever wanted to see what the future was rather than think what if.
I sometimes get asked why Gravity Falls means so much to me when there’s cartoons out there that can be argued as being better than it. For me, Gravity Falls’ quality as a show isn’t why I love it so much. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve been able to allow myself to accept that GF isn’t perfect and see the cracks in it while still loving it instead of blindly believing it’s perfection. Neither is the notoriety I’ve gained from it. Anyone could’ve made the username That GF FAN and done what I did and still do. I’m not some mega fan or any special person. I’m just a guy who was a year late to the party and become obsessed with a cartoon that began 10 years ago, lol. I will forever be grateful for this fandom’s kindness and for giving me a chance and a place within it. And while I am always grateful for that, it’s not the only reason that to me Gravity Falls means so much.
It's the message this show sent; that message about life and never letting the future stop you from living it. To not let the past, dictate your future and to find those around you who will help make the future better. That was more important and of a thing that Gravity Falls gave me than any other cartoon I’ve seen since, no matter its quality gave me and more valuable than any Journal 3 Special Edition or piece of merchandise ever will be. It was the right show at the right time and just did it for me.
There was a high school student one cold February evening 6 years ago, who began watching a cartoon he had no idea about beyond a little background knowledge. And I doubt he ever imagined then that this one show would help him find the passion and reassurance to give life the fullest and find a way out of that dark moment so that looking back now…that time is nothing more than a long faded away scar.
And all thanks to a kid who thinks washing clothes is a waste of time, telling his twin sister who’s better at knitting than I’ll ever be, that there's a better way to get through the future than denial or trying to hide away in fear of it.
So yeah…there’s my corny story, lmao. 6 years ago today, I watched Gravity Falls for the first time…and 6 years on…it’s still one hell of an amazing show and life lesson.

I guess I'll give my Sonic Prime thoughts now.
Yeah the show is pretty ehh and honestly I don't feel like trying to write a deep dive into why right now, so this is just my ramblings.
Many people have already criticized how poorly paced season 3 was, how bad Thorn's episodes are, what that ending even was (seriously, where did Shadow even take the Prism...? Did everyone else make it back to their worlds okay...? WTF was the outcome with Nine?) I agree with that so I'm not gonna repeat it all.
The premise itself had more potential, but it's just so...generic. I know, the idea of Sonic traveling across a multiverse of other canons was never going to happen, but the alternative of Sea World™ and Jungle World™ were so bland it hurts.
I wonder if part of the visual blandness is from the 3D. I know, as a show and not a movie, it has a very different budget, but I believe Boom had better and more lively environments. It's like the entire set modeling budget went to New Yoke while everywhere else got completely shafted.
Which...why was New Yoke the only place that got an Eggman? Er...Eggmen? Like I know the idea of there only being one Sonic is because he broke the Prism, Shadow doesn't have counterparts because he wasn't in the cave, but neither was Big? Like happy to see Big, but also I'm wondering where the consistency is.
Though all the counterparts are so stereotypical it hurts. I think Dread was the one I found the most compelling, though maybe I just like pirates. Also is it bad when Chaos Sonic showed up and even Sonic was like "do you EVER shut up?" all I could think about was IDW like that guy was ANNOYING AF
As for Sonic, he is VERY vocal in this show. If he's not talking, he's grunting or screaming. It's like the audio department didn't know what to do if a character wasn't making noise, like YouTuber who constantly uses jumpcuts to hopefully keep your attention. That's what it felt like. In a cinematic story, sometimes silence is better, but nope! Sonic is falling again! He got hit! He's running really fast! It's like they use the same 3 high energy sound clips for the whole show and I just got tired of it. It's not the VA's fault, this is entirely on the audio mixing/direction and it's only really a problem with Sonic because he's made out to be a clumsy, lovable and meme-worthy dork.
Sonic himself really is the biggest problem for me. Even putting aside how OOC he is, his shtick is just...tiresome. He's the idiotic embodiment of stereotypical ADHD. He's designed to be marketable as a silly internet blorbo rather than a compelling character. It's kind of hard to look past how the show heralds him for his emotional talks bringing everyone together when it's so...shallow.
There are some parts of the show I found compelling, like I know many disagree with this, but honestly? Shadow was the best part. Sonic and Shadow fights are cool and I liked how he had a solid reason to be angry. Not like Boom where he just shows up to kick Sonic's teeth in because he can. No, Sonic broke reality and Shadow is pissed about that! Trying to simply fix it himself when he's been watching Sonic stumble through all these Shatterspaces going "huh aren't you my friends?" eight times like an absolute buffoon tracks to me. Maybe if Sonic was written competently I would think it's silly, but if Sonic is going to be this dumb, yeah Shadow was right to try and take the reins. Although I realize the biggest reason people like him is because Sonadow, I'm just happy to see him not being a mean edgelord.
I don't really have more to say about the series than this because it's just a bowl of nothing soup. I can see an attempt to blend action and comedy, similar to Boom, but the jokes aren't funny and the action isn't exciting. Boom recognized its strong suit was comedy and focused more on that while Prime just slowly got worse.
Legit the only thing that improves over the course of the series is the overuse of flashbacks, thankfully that's relegated mostly to season 1, but everything else just goes downhill. The pacing suffers, dialogue gets repeated at agony and Prism Sonic wasn't even made interesting.
The conflicts aren't good, the slapstick is bad and honestly the best joke in the series is when they all had to keep pausing and ducking under the laser in episode 2. The whole thing is just so...forgettable.
I think at some point in a year or two, after I get through all the other Sonic cartoons, I'll rewatch Prime and see if I change my mind at all. Though for now, I'm glad it's finally over.

My Thoughts about Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke's Mansion
I've done this a few times, but I decided that I will make some comments/ratings about the different animes I watch 😂. I will call it
Anime 👏 Review 👏
Tumblr media
Where did I hear about this: Tiktok
Summary: A girl gets falls off a building and is reincarnated as Raeliana McMillan, a side character from a novel she read. In order to escape her second death from her fiance, she enters a fake relationship with Noah Wynknight to change it.
Other comments: It is also a manhwa (Raeliana would be from South Korea and not Japan), and I think it's complete!
Rating: 9/10 - I'm saying this since there is one episode left. I love the story and how Raeliana is not a know it all about the story. Her and Noah's relationship is cute! My favorite characters so far are Adam and Noah lol. Also, I may have liked this because Noah has the same va as Leona and I kept picturing him and Yuu in this 😅. Although that would make a cute fanfic, I can see Vil being Noah too, because Noah has this smile that seems normal but has a "get away from me" vibe to it. Idk Vil can put his acting skills here, plus the buildings remind me of Pomefiore.
Commentary/Spoilers down below (you can tell I typed it out as I watched it lol)
Tumblr media
Adam being shocked was cute
Noah as Leona hello?!?!? I mean they both play chess, have a suave attitude, and THEY BOTH HAVE THE SAME VA TOO!
Vil would be the perfect Noah tho
I lowkey ship Adam and Raeliana lol. Their scenes were cute
Monsters existing here threw me off but it made the story interesting
Noah questioning why he got angry when Raeliana was kidnapped made giggle like a crazy woman. He is starting to fall in love with her and I am here for it!
I have a love hate thing for Noah. I love his character (not just cause I hear Leona every time he talks) but he teases Raeliana and I get annoyed lmao
ADAM HELPED RAELIANA OMG HE IS THE BEST (Noah's reaction was hilarious)
The date was so cute and I thought that they were gonna kiss but no! Main girl shows up and the background song was ugh 😭
NOAH IS SO CHARMING OMG HE IS THE STANDARD!!! 😭
Me when Beatrice gave Vivian the hair thing to give to Raeliana: :O
Heika wanting Raeliana to call him grandpa is hilarious (plus Wade dropping the glass was the cherry on top)
HEIKA IS NOW AN ADULT?!?! What a sudden turn of events! I liked him as a kid because he reminded me of Luke from Obey Me 😂
I’m 95% percent sure the hair thing was from Beatrice but she really did Raeliana dirty smh
Noah: I would lose my mind if I lost you. Me: kicking and screaming into my pillow. WHEN I TELL YALL, HE IS THE STANDARD
Raeliana being in denial like girl no he loves you (but he seems emotionally constipated (like Leona sometimes cough cough))
BEATRICE IS HERE! It is about to go down!
Also, she has the same va as Shinobu from Demon Slayer, which is funny because she was also in My Next Life as a Villainess as the story MC. She is really good at being one lol
Wade has the same va as Floyd and I can honestly hear it 😂

tristamp thoughts/live watch ramblings
preface: i already have a very bad impression of tristamp. i literally have been into trigun for maybe a week now and i have seen most of 1998, but im trying to go into tristamp with a clear head and view it objectively, but i genuinely looked at the character designs and legatos redesign made me resent it immediately tbh...
ANYWAY, im live watching as i write this, so apologies if its sporatic
okay so the good stuff so far
uhh... its very pretty!!! ill give it that. it really shows the evolution of 3d anime over time, and as someone who typically doesnt enjoy it i think tristamp is absolutely beautiful. first 3d anime i ever saw was knights of sidonia and i have a deep appreciation for where 3d anime is now compared to a decade ago
i kinda like meryls new design the best? i like her hat, its cute. everyone else is so... eh, tho. merylls redesign is chill with me tho
roberto is fine ig. i like old men characters sometimes and like, idk whenever im not sad abt milly not being here im okay enough with roberto existing
now on to my ever growing laundry list of complaints that ik will get worse if i keep watching (spoilers for trimax probably)
one, WHY IS VASH LIKE THAT?? LIKE WHY IS HE SUCH A WHINY CRYBABY?? LIKE SHUT UP DAWG!!! idk, ik vash is a silly emotionally explosive highly insecure funny little fella and i love him for it, i think vash is a great character, but why did they make him kinda a pathetic bitch in stamp? like, i usually dont watch dubs but i am for trigun cause my tv is kinda far from my bed and i dont wanna sit uncomfortably to read subs rn (BLEH!!!), so maaaaaaaybe sub vash is better, and no shade to the va i like his voice a lot for vash tbh, but bro pls stop crying every two seconds im gonna lose it. why is vash lowkey proslavery (THIS IS A JOKE), BUT FR!!! why is he more like... idk chill with plants being used ig ????? im sure hes not really, but like... dude, you arent the same
two, okay this made me actually mad, but why in the actual fuck was knives immediately introduced and why is he like some weird well known plant stealing cave hermit??? like??? no??? he wouldnt do that??? also why is he so present in this world LIKE DOES LOST JULY NOT EXIST IN THIS CANON??? WHAT IS THIS??????? i literally hate this rewrite. like... trimax is right there dawg... you did not have to rewrite literally everything. addition as i watch episode 3, why is he like that? why can he make purple? why does he have razors??? he doesnt talk like that ever??? why is he so??? i hate him actually??? this is not the knives ik and love??? who is this skinwalker????? HE DID NOT ACT LIKE THIS IN TRIMAX WHO IS THIS??? I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THEY REWROTE KNIVES THIS WAY OH MY GOD
three, why did everyone get an objectively bland redesign? like... i dont mind vashs hair. idgaf, but i literally hate his fucking totk link "lost power source" green ass arm. why cant it just be an ugly brown robot arm with a gun in it. whys it gotts be all "cool" and "green" and "mysterious", like IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE CYBERCORE TECHWEAR NEOFUTURISM ASS SHIT!!! i havent seeeeeeen wolfwoof in action yet, but i fucking hate his tristamp design. WHY IS HE A TWINK??? WHERE ARE HIS BOOBS??? WHY IS HE NOT A PRIEST??? LITERALLY TURNED A PERFECT CHARACTER INTO A BASIC BITCH FOR NO REASON. also like... knives. why is he... why is he like that. put shoes on plz the sand is hot babygirl. why are you wearing a tumour coat and ugly matrix ass bodysuit? where did your shoulderpadded objectively cooler dio-esque military outfit go? especially tho, i DESPISE legato and livios redesigns. i think they are SOOOOO butt ugly in tristamp and FOR WHY??? WHY DID THEY MAKE LEGATO SO FUCKING UGLY??? LIKE HE WAS SO HOT IN 98 AND ESPECIALLY IN TRIMAX OH MY GOD HES SO HOT LITERALLY DROOLING THINKING ABT HIM RN MY BABYWABY BOOBOO BEAR. THEY BUTCHERED HIM SO BAD AND IT PISSES ME OFF SO MUCH!!! AND LIVIO OH MY GOD WHY DID THEY DO THAT TO HIM??? HIS TRIMAX DESIGN IS OS FUCKING PEAK HE IS SO AMAZING AS AN EYE OF MICHAEL AND ESPECIALLY AFTER HE REFORMS AND BECOMES A COWBOY BABEYYY!!!! BUT NOOOO THEY MADE HIM AN UGLY ASS CYBERPUNK ASS BITCH!!! THEY MADE HIM SO FUCKING LAME AND BORING!!! PATOOEY I HATE HIS FUCKING DESIGN!!!! okay so wolfwood just showed up, can officially say hes the weakest version of wolfwood and that i do not like him. hes giving non sonic fan perception of shadow vibes. ALSO WHERE IS HIS MELANIN THEY TOOK IT AWAY!!! THE MELANIN VACCUM STRIKES AGAIN!!! tbf, he didnt have MUCH but he was a little brown, not literally just a white man
four, where. the. fuck. is. milly. i LOVE milly. she is one of my faves ever, im so sad she isnt here. genuinely...
five and probably last for rn, why is the pacing so bad. like its not good in trigun or trimax really, and especially bad in 1998, but it SO ASS!!! like its so blink and you'll miss it, which kinda stands for every trigun... but expected this to be like at least a liiiiittle better i dunno
conclusions: im gonna keep watching it maybe? but like... i dont like it. its bad imo. literaly have been into trigun for one week and am in mourning that trimax will likely never have a proper adaptation. i just wanna see angel knives in his full glory, not whatever tf tristamp is trying to push here

Ten Characters, Ten Fandoms, Ten Tags (except it's one tag bc I hate mass tagging, makes it feel less special lol)
Thanks for tagging me @chouchinobake ! Part of the reason I stay on Tumblr is how different and I suppose intimate (?) it feels to be on here. The whump community in general is such a home to me, but the oddity of this platform gives me a chance to do different things that I'd never be able to do on my Twitter/Instagram.
In any case, it just looks like I'm supposed to list ten characters from different fandoms and why I like them, so here goes. I'm going to limit it to anime, since there are way too many in manga/live action, and, as an organized person, I must restrain myself:
Tumblr media
Ash Lynx [Banana Fish]: I've seen basically every BL anime that exists, and yet out of all the boys I've loved from those (Mafuyu didn't make it to the list but he is ONE OF THEM), no one quite stands out to me the way that Ash does. He was such a fresh personality to get into, and I found myself fascinated by the complexities of his character. One thing about Banana Fish in general that I enjoyed was the lack of "need" for it to go through as a BL, if that makes sense. It was an action/gang drama first and a love story second. I am always most attached to characters that I feel like I could never accurately write if I tried, since it gives me great respect for the author. Ash being violent but not uncaring, angry at the world and yet still a victim to it, plagued by recurring trauma (the amount of predatory gay men in BF is absolutely insane btw LMAO I love that Dino has just stocked his gang with gay rapists 😂) and yet still a very dangerous character. It's a tragedy that it ended the way it did, but I guess that's part of why he sticks with me so much. Definitely #1 saddest of the stories I've loved.
The way he has such fondness for Eiji without the author feeling like they needed to actually put them in a confirmed relationship was just so natural to me. Of course, I needed fanfics to help my crumbling heart after the ending, way back when I first watched it, but I always valued that about Banana Fish. I just fucking wish Ash made it back to Eiji for a hug, dammit. The one thing I hated in the show was the lack of hurt/comfort balance. There was so little comfort that it felt like sometimes the emotional aspect was ignored in favor of the action, and that drove me batty. Regardless, one of the favorites for sure.
Tumblr media
Xie Lian [Heaven's Official Blessing]: MY SWEET BABU. Holy fuck, I didn't know whether to list Mafuyu here or Xie, because they're both somewhat the same breed of SOFT, MUST PROTECT to me, but Xie won out, since I have to have at least one bandaged boy on the list in the absence of Dazai. Words cannot express the amount of sheer devotion I have to this CREATURE. This is one of those stand-out shows that became a comfort anime for me. The soft-voiced Chinese VAs for Xie and Hua Cheng cause physical reactions lmao. It's a rare softie romance for my favorites.
There are some characters that are so fucking precious to me that somehow my sadist nature drains away, and I actually do not want to see them hurt. This is one of the very, very few. Nobody touch Xie Lian. I will murder you.
Tumblr media
Yozo Oba [No Longer Human]: Written by the one and only Dazai Osamu, there is no character I've ever read about that I relate to more than Yozo Oba. There was a fantastic anime adaptation that I recently stumbled across, which is where the above gif came from. It's called Blue Literature Series, and its biggest feature is NLH, but it features other famous Japanese writers' (from Bungo) stories as well. The anime adaptation gave me such a visceral perspective on Yozo after reading the novel, and I loved everything about the anime (besides the way they changed Yozo's "best friend" to a far better person than he was). In reference specifically to the character, though, Yozo is the ultimate depiction of the extreme fear of human beings and masked depression. I cried at so many moments from the book that hit right where I struggled in life, and I hardly ever reread things, but NLH was a major exception.
No lie, that shit had me saying "he's just like me fr!" 😀 lol... sorry
Tumblr media
Kaneki Ken [Tokyo Ghoul]: Yeah yeah, I know. Everyone has talked about Kaneki. But he really is amazing. No matter how memed this poor man is, he remains among the top favorites, both in the depiction of his warring personalities as well as the monster vs. human. The entirety of TG is just GORGEOUS in its world building, character design, and fresh perspectives on the old cliche of half human, half devil. His character arc always gets me going. But he's been talked about enough; everyone knows about him. I don't need to say much except that MAN he truly WAS wayyyy better in the manga. I was stunned at the extreme difference, and I get it now - all those fans who were pissed at the show. That's why I always watch the anime before the manga. It just gets better that way.
Tumblr media
Johan Liebert [Monster]: Besides the other antagonist you'll find a little further down in the list, this is my favorite anime villain of all time, I think. He's been hailed by many as one of the best, so I'm sure the subject is already worn out, but everything about this man had me crazy for him. His vicious backstory, his psychopathy, his incredible manipulation, and his treacherously low screen time. This is one of those characters where the lack of appearances in the show actually fueled my devotion, because the times when he did show up were absolutely BANGER, and his fucking presence is so intoxicating. He was fabulously animated too, and the whole show was such a good watch. The VA always has something to do with it for me, and Johan was no exception. (I watch everything in sub, just because the VAs are usually that gorgeous whispery-ear-fuck for mysterious characters like this 😂)
Tumblr media
Sebastian Michaelis [Black Butler]: I mean come on, who wouldn't like Sebastian. Honestly, nothing much needs to be said. Ciel makes him that much better. Their tension and dynamics, and the way that their relationship was set up is just incredible. Can't be beat, really. I wish I could go back to the first time I saw BB and watch it all again, cuz fucking hell it was so good. I love the contradiction of Sebastian's devil hunger for human souls being conflicted - not by the fact that he has a human half, but by the fact that he's signed a deal with a human, and has grown some semblance of attachment to that human, and that's what keeps him unpredictable. Will he care for Ciel in the end and choose not to follow through or not? Idk, that was my favorite perspective of his character and the whole show.
Tumblr media
Akihito Narihisago [ID: Invaded]: If you haven't seen this anime, you're missing out, firstly on one of my favorite VAs of all time 🥹 Kenjiro Tsuda, and secondly on a very emotional plot and story arc that I didn't expect for the genre of show that it was. Akihito is a detective in a virtual reality, trying to solve a murder. What I didn't expect was the constant appearances of a girl in this world that is Akihito's daughter, and how her face being on every victim made the case so incredibly personal that it was tear-jerking for me. Honestly, Tsuda's performance is probably the main reason why it hits so hard, but this poor man has to go through seeing his daughter's face on every mangled victim, watching her die over and over, and never being able to save her. And that's all he wants. He just wants to save her. I won't spoil any more, but good grief this one was a very unexpected favorite of mine.
Tumblr media
Zero Kiryuu [Vampire Knight]: ☺️☺️☺️☺️ Whaaaaaaaaaat? He was my first whumpy boy *pinches cheeks*, my first anime love, *squish squish* baby's first anime! Back then when I was a lazy first-timer, I was watching in dub. By now I've gone back and re-watched in sub after realizing the great and powerful Miyano Mamoru was the voice of my vampire crush, but I am not complaining over the English VA, because Vic Mignogna is the only comparable voice to do any of Miyano's characters. Loved that man. Wish he was still around. In any case, Zero is the ultimate angsty vampire and nobody will ever replace him for me.
Tumblr media
Yashiro [Saezuru wa Tori Habatakanai]: I...where do I even begin? T_T The sheer complexity of this man's personality makes him such an obsession to me. I would consume any and all media relating to him, no matter what it is. He's one of those characters that can endlessly be studied and picked apart. He has so much conflict, so many walls, so much pain. It's the ones who pretend they love self-destruction that really get to me. I love seeing Yashiro crumble because of Doumeki's insistent care, and words cannot express how many times I've watched the BLCD paired with the manga for the climactic first sex scene with Doumeki, and how emotional it was. It offered a whole new perspective in my opinion of how deep something as dismissed as erotica could go, and I strive for that same emotional and character depth in my own works because of it. The dynamics of this show in general provoked and inspired the story I'm writing of Ellum and Callyx, even if it existed long before I got into Saezuru. It helped me form it around what I learned from experiencing the manga and then the anime, and then the BLCD, and I can't fucking wait for the rest of this trilogy to come out so I can weep ffs.
Tumblr media
Iason Mink [Ai no Kusabi]: Ah, the man who created Taushin. Lol, way back when Sadist was a baby whumper, this was one of the first yaoi I ever set eyes on. Though set in the weirdest and most repulsive world for erotica imo, the dynamics of Iason the Blondie and Riki his little brat Pet will remain one of my favorite power plays, and remains the standard for what I keep looking for in other stories. The anime remake was so unabashedly uncensored that it remains hard to find something that matches it, as far as non-con and punishment/pleasure based relationships go, and I wish it hadn't been cancelled cuz that was a fucking shame. Despite the plot being rather boring, the tension between these two makes up for it, and the constant rivalry of enemies who basically remain enemies and are only reluctant lovers when it comes to it makes it so intriguing. Iason is THE Master of all Masters in my opinion, and was voiced so perfectly in both anime versions - that velvety, stern voice omg - and Taushin was heavily influenced by him, as well as the classism of Gailda, coming from Ai no Kusabi's rankings of Blondies and Pets, which I thought made for an interesting world. If not for Ai no Kusabi, I don't think I'd ever have come up with the story of Dancing with Death, even though Taushin and Angel have a much different dynamic, since Angel is obedient and nothing like the hard-headed Riki. I still owe it to that anime.
Tumblr media
Griffith [Berserk]: It's insane to me how long it took for me to finally watch Berserk, but for years all I saw was that ugly bastard with the name Guts in reference to the acclaimed manga and its disgustingly animated show. I never had an interest in reading the manga, so when I discovered the existence of Griffith through one of my friends who was urging me to read it, I realized that the story wasn't what I'd thought. Then, seeing the movies that existed with far better animation, I instantly got into it and was hooked. My gods, the character arc of this man. It remains one of my favorite tragedies, only outdone by Kaneki's. AND THE BEAUTY OF THIS BOY GOOD GRIEF LMAO it's so hilarious to me how pretty he is in a male-driven male-gaze manga, if you know what I mean. 😂 Like this story in general just stands out, and Griffith is the shining star. I got so attached to him, and to see him imprisoned and betrayed and just...JEEEEz. It hurt so much. And it felt so good to see him turn, no matter how horrifying. Still can't really put up with the infamous Casca/Griffith scene as it felt a little misplaced 😂
Tumblr media
The Red King [K-Project series]: I feel like this anime is very under the radar, so allow me to introduce you to yet another badass man voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda. Everything about him is just...MUAH. He is a little elusive in the movies (there are several of them), so his screen time is criminally low for how obsessed I am with him, but when he's there he's THERE and is GLORIOUS. As the leader of a gang, in a world where each king rules a color and that color means their gangs have a certain ability - so for crimson there is fire, of course - he is the ultimate stern leader. They contrast this in the movies SO FANTASTICALLY by having this man taking care of a young girl, an adopted daughter of sorts, and showing off his soft spot for her and her alone. Oh my gods, I can't even begin. I just...I live for it. He is a kind leader, but the stoic and cold type, you know? One of my favorite personality types. He is easy to anger, but this girl that he protects adores him and he treats her like a little princess. I need to stop lol, I can't ramble too much, but I'll just say his rivalry with the Blue King, who used to be a good friend (enemies to lovers ship here I come) is heart-wrenching, and his eventual fate which I will not spoil absolutely destroyed me. The end.
I did 12, and I'm not sorry. I couldn't leave out The Red King or Griffith okay. I couldn't. I tried to not list the purely obvious ones, such as Bungo characters, Vanitas no Carte characters, or fandoms where I've made it quite clear how much I like certain people lmao. But they'd nevertheless be part of the list if it weren't limited to ten (COUGH 12), and I wanted to list characters that I had something particular to say about. A lot of them are made better by their counterpart or romantic interests in the show, such as Yashiro being perfectly matched with Doumeki, Zero being put to so much tension with Kaname, Johan being an incredible antagonist to Tenma, Iason showing off his power because of Riki's constant defiance, and The Red King having his soft spot with the little girl. And I mean, who would Griffith be without Guts?
I would list Gojo, but there's nothing to say about him that hasn't already been said, and that's just BARKBARKWOOFWOOFGGRRRR
Hope you enjoyed reading. And I hope you might've found some new anime because of it! K-Project seems lesser known, but my gods it's gorgeous, it's ship-city, and it's a fascinating plot heavily featuring on one of my favorite things: COLORS.
Thanks again for the tag 🖤 it's nice to be able to obsess over my favorites for a reason 😤
Tagging @lustfulcat ☺️☺️ if you feel like it, my sweet!

French viewing recs for you!
movies:
How I Became a Superhero - this is a super fun and creative little movie about how bonkers it would be if superpowers were real, if you're burned out on superheroes at all (understandable!) this might be refreshing
AKA - seemingly standard gritty action movie but wait! the main action guy has unexpected heartwarming dad vibes with the mafia boss's adorable young son!
The Takedown - action comedy starring the guy from Lupin
shows:
Lupin - you're probably already aware of this one, season 3 just dropped, super charming mystery thriller heist antics thing, the main character has a guest appearance in one of my fics
Jusqu'ici tout va bien | Thicker than Water - crime thriller with just a super compelling main character, she's a protective older sister who ends up an accidental druglord maybe? you'll recognize her boyfriend from Disorder
Into the Night - environmental disaster survivors thriller, political in ways that are sometimes clunky and sometimes really interesting, stressful to watch at times but highly recommend if you like that sort of thing
Le Bazar de la Charité | The Bonfire of Destiny and Les combattantes | Women at War - soapy period dramas
plus a bonus rec that's not in French but it's my very favorite of my non-English watching: Onisciente. Brazilian scifi mystery that's sort of a dystopia but remarkably upbeat? hard to describe but I love the main character so much, I feel like she and Nile would dig each other
also also! I haven't seen this one yet, just discovered it when I was looking up titles for these recs: Oxygen, a scifi thriller starring Booker's wife's namesake Mélanie Laurent
I'm all ears if you've got recs en español! <3333
Dirah!! Thank you so much!! These all sound very intriguing <3<3<3
How I became a superhero I think I watched it, or maybe started it at least lol AKA and The Takedown are def going on the list!!
LUPIN YEAH I love it haha I'm about to start the last episode of part 3 rn! Jusqu'ice tout va bien sounds interesting too (reminds me of La Haine which I doubt is a coincidence lol) Into The Night I actually started and abandoned :/ just didn't click at the time, can't say why. I'll keep Le Bazard and Les Combattantes in mind but I'm not super into soapy and period and drama together haha
I haven't heard of Onisciente but I WILL keep it in mind, it sounds great, and Oxygen sounds maddening lol
Hmm I find it hard to think of recs cause I have no idea where they might be available with English subs! I'll leave you some anyways
Nueve Reinas: A movie about an amateur conman and the mentor who decides to train him for a big strike. Set in the late 90s Argentina. It either won an Oscar or was nominated if you care about that sort of thing
Los Simuladores: TV series, also heist/conmen vibes, I've yelled about it a lot
Relatos Salvajes | Wild Tales: Five stories of violence set in different parts of Argentina, a dark comedy is how I'd best describe it
El Reino: Series, 2 seasons so far, A crime drama about an Evangelist presidential candidate with a murky background. Second season is more of a political drama but I haven't finished it yet!
Argentina, 1985: A drama following the attorney general who carried about the trials against the top leaders of the last dictatorship. Based on true events, not a lot of fun but in my opinion very well done. Also Oscar nominated. It's on Amazon Prime. In the same vein but fictional: La Historia Oficial
Un Cuento Perfecto: Spanish series, pure romcom very cute!
El Robo del Siglo: Heist movie based on a true story of a crew that robbed a bank. More of a comedy
Muerte en Buenos Aires | Death in Buenos Aires: crime-ish movie with very big homoerotic vibes, I really enjoyed it. Also, Chino Darín POR FAVOR QUE HERMOSO QUE ES
El Secreto De Sus Ojos | The Secret in Their Eyes: NOT the usamerican version with Jessica Chastain (why????), the argentinian one, deals with rape and murder so you gotta be ready for that
Just in general Almodóvar is a great filmaker though he likes a lot of shadier themes, his movies feature cheating, murder, incest, rape and etc. Guillermo del Toro's Laberinto del Fauno is vvv good if you want some fantasy! Sorry I went very argentinian on this but it's what I've seen the most haha and not a lot of action because we ain't got the budget akhdfñg

Hazbin Hotel French dub review
Took me some time but I finally watched Hazbin Hotel, and it was great! I recommend it. And because I love languages, and specifically translation and adaptation, here’s a review of the French dub.
I want to clarify that I’m talking about the French dub from France, not Quebec. The main difference between the two is that Quebec favours verbatim and France favours melody. In a nutshell: France sounds better but Quebec is more accurate.
Songs
The songs are smoother in English and the lyrics and singers sound better. Gotta say that it’s really complicated to translate songs; and sadly, sometimes some interesting lyrics didn’t get through (for example: we don’t have the two references of Charlie being like a daughter to Alastor in Hell's Greatest Dad, but we do get the “dad” after). But otherwise, I love the French dub and I enjoy listening to it. I even prefer listening to the songs in French because I remember the lyrics more easily.
My favourite song in French is Hell is Forever; Poison could be but it’s very jerky compared to English (it has to do with French having more occlusives consonants [b, p, t, v, k...]. All the songs are impacted but especially this one).
The song Hell's Greatest Dad has better lyrics in French and that's awesome, but More Than Anything has the worst lyrics.
2. Characters voice
I prefer Husk in French, he has more energy. Vaggie too, also I prefer her French voice.
Angie's va has more guts in French and he genuinely made me tear up in that scene with Val, he was just so heartbreaking. Plus, I find Val scarier in French and I think his voice suits him better; he’s more guttural, and compared to Angie's high voice, it’s truly oppressive.
Adam is dubbed by a French dubbing legend (Emmanuel Curtil) so I prefer him SO MUCH MORE in French (this guy is just the best).
Sadly I think Alastor sounded less threatening in French, Sir Penty lost his lisp and accent, and Lucifer is less funny.
Emmy’s voice is sweeter in French and I think it suits her better, but her singing isn’t the best.
Apart from that, everybody's pretty much the same, and it's awesome.
3. Casual Talking
I love the diversity of the insults, they did an amazing job and I look out to be as good as them.
4. Subtitles
I didn’t think I’d do this but I did because It was quite bothersome that the subtitles were nothing like what I’d heard. I know it’s because they’re made by different people with different constraints, and usually I still understand because it’s not far from what I hear. But this time I had to turn them off because I couldn’t focus on the show because my mind had trouble linking what it’d hear and read (and I can watch a show in English with French subtitles with no problem).
It is not really a problem, but because I like to have the subtitles on, it is for me.
5. Angel Dust & Husk
I must make another point about them because their French adaptation was incredible!
I wasn’t much of a fan back at the pilot when people said there was something between them, because I didn’t see it, but after watching s1, damn! Those guys were so deeply in love with each other that was amazing! And when I watched it again in English I realised it was from the French dub!
To be honest, I find Husk somehow flat in English — I think it’s because I first heard him in French, so it was odd — and I have trouble knowing what he’s thinking, but in French, he has so much passion that I couldn’t but fall in love with him too.
Among the things I love the most is, after Loser, Baby, when they’re about to go home, Husk says to Angie “This guy isn’t half bad” but in French, he says “I’m interested in this guy”, which I’m sure refers to him being interested in the “real” Angie more than he “fake” one, but I’m also sure that the double meaning of him fancying Angie was intentional, and damn that’s so cute.
Also : He said “sing for me” instead of “sing that song” + At the end of ep6 instead of calling him “kiddo” (which is a word we use for kids or to insult someone) he calls him “handsome”.
I think they shipped them lmao
As a whole, I honestly wouldn’t say English is better, more that it’s different, though I gotta be honest that the songs sound better. I recommend watching it in French because the voices are sometimes better and the people who worked on it did an amazing job and I have no words to say how thankful I am to them. And it’s coming from someone who prefers the original versions (except for animation, French people are amazingly good at that usually).

Squealed with excitement when I saw your post saying you were watching zom 100. Are you going to read the manga? Also please make a post sharing your opinions of it. I literally love reading your rants about manga and anime, positive and critical. I frequent the "sloot bitches about things" tag all the time lmao
Holy shit, I only thought ppl came for my smut, I'm glad you like reading me complain about shit and rant lol
The manga is on my list but my backlog of stuff I want to check out is stupidly long, so...I get to it when I get to it ig
Anyway my thoughts on the anime
In a world where zombie apocalypse fiction is largely bleak and depressing, it's so nice to see a series go "Fuck it, in the post apocalypse, do what makes you happy." It frames the zombie outbreak and breakdown of society in an optimistic way, and I think a lot of people need that. In a culture that's so collectivist and so stressed out, that cultural shift in modern Japan to prioritizing your own happiness and mental well-being really makes me happy.
The animation and especially the COLORSSSS are so nice. There are a few shots where corners had to be cut, but given how fucked the anime production was in terms of schedule I'm more than willing to put up with it. The zombies and the gore having these saturated paint colors instead of just being red is so nice, and it makes the Zom100 zombies stand out from other series.
I could talk forever about the colors in this series. I've never seen a zombie apocalypse that looked so bright and poppy and FUN. If you haven't seen anything from this show, just watch the opening and ending you won't regret it.
I also love shows that have an optimistic message in a bleak fucked up setting. Like if Berserk is grim optimism and struggling against brutality and hardship, Zom100 is bright optimism in a dead landscape. It's fluorescent paint sprayed and sloshed on grey corpses and cracked concrete, and I love looking at it. Like LOOK at this!
Tumblr media
Beatrix is best girl, I accept no arguments to the contrary. She's a German weeb who wears samurai armor and wants to restore Japan's natural beauty, infodumps about hot springs history, and is just so fun. Everything in this series is just so fucking fun.
Kencho is hot as fuck and if you like himbos, watch this series for him. He wants to be a comedian. He's a superhunk with a heart of gold. He's working on a comedy bit where he butt-chugs udon noodles. I want him so bad I'm shaking.
Tumblr media
Shizuka is a new inspiration for my One Piece OC Minerva, since their color designs are similar and both go from coldly logical to willing to follow their hearts and have fun. Though girl, wear some more protective clothing. You're in a sports bra and leggings and a hoodie, Beatrix at least sometimes wears the samurai armor and Akira had the diving suit for a while.
Obviously I fuck with Kanta on concept alone, and his VA (same as Bakugo and Ghiaccio) understands his assignment. A bitter NEET who wants to fuck things up only to realize he's collapsed under his own loneliness and just needed friendship, and realized too late that he essentially sabotaged his own happiness. Also hearing him cry pathetically in the last few episodes was low-key...activating my almonds a bit 😳
Given how problematic the production and release was, I'm gonna be disappointed but not surprised if there aren't further seasons. Still, they end it on a positive note that makes it a satisfying "ending" if it never gets animated beyond that. Besides, there's always the manga! I'm gonna link the op and Ed because I love them so much.
youtube
youtube
Also interesting fact, but this anime got recommended to me...by one of my sixth graders??? She's a huge otaku and I love that she's comfortable around me enough to nerd out (in rapid Japanese I don't always understand lol) bc normally she seems like a bit of a loner, but...madam you are 12. Kencho is showing hole on a regular basis, one of the villain dudes is an Ugly Bastard who has the goal of forcing his tongue down a girl's throat. Where are your parents 👀

The Tragic Saga of the Goncharov Tie-In Game (1995)
so since everyone has discovered goncharov i get to talk about a personal fascination of mine, which is the wild n wacky tale of the goncharov video game tie in. If youre thinking "what the hell are you talking about, there wasn't a video game tie in" theres a reason for that, bear with me
so the game came out sometime around 1995 (different sources place it at various points between 1994 and 1995), and it was one of the first properties to be licenced by sony for a console. It was originally planned to be a SNES-CD release until that console was cancelled, at which point it was ported to the playstation. if youre wondering why goncharov got a tie in like twenty years after the film released, that's kind of why it's so unheard of. sony was testing the waters with its new hardware to see if there was an older audience for gaming, and a few investors were willing to put some money behind the idea. it was actually pretty well-funded all things considered, with a budget of around $1.1m, and the gameplay was similar to that of goldeneye, which released a couple of years later. it was also fairly sophisticated, featuring branching decision trees and several different endings (I think 4? there isn't a lot of gameplay footage available, but there were at least 4)
unfortunately, development was plagued with problems from the get go. Despite its healthy budget, the studio couldn't convince any of the original cast to return to do voice work. Of course they couldn't, the film was two decades old -- you think harvey keitel was gonna bail on pulp fiction to appear in some experimental video game? of course not. so the dev team went for the next best thing: soundalikes.
the problem is, the soundalike VAs they hired weren't used to doing longform work. don't get me wrong, they did their darndest, but their experience was very much rooted in things like radio commercials and short voiceovers. they hadn't really had to act before. oh, and all but one of them hadn't seen the movie. the anecdote goes that they showed up on day one expecting a couple of days work tops, and much to their shock were handed several dozen pages of script (remember the decision trees? branching dialogue baby) and told they were employed for the next six months. Good for them, I think?
The voice acting really suffered from this. a lot of it feels very stilted, it ruins the immersion. yknow how in elder scrolls oblivion all the voice lines were recorded in alphabetical order? It sounds similar to that (altho personally i think the goncharov voice acting is a bit better lol). the directors and actors really struggled to pull everything together.
the result was that, while the game itself definitely wasn't bad, it was outright innovative in places, critics really couldn't get past the baffling performances, which they near-unanimously agreed made the game a slog. someone suggested the game should be played on mute with goncharov the film playing on a second tv, though went on to say that you wouldn't even finish the game then, because you'd just end up watching the far superior goncharov film instead. The game flopped, causing its global release to be cancelled, and was only ever distributed in the UK, Australia, and Japan.
the game had a brief stint as a cult classic, garnering a small online fandom in the early days on the internet. there is allegedly an italian fan translation out there somewhere, although a copy has never surfaced and it is considered lost media. a couple of people have come forward claiming to have worked on it -- they also claim to have met in the neopets forums of all places. i believe them -- and there are a couple of youtube videos showcasing what appears to be an italian fandub, but without the game files it's not possible to know whether theyre real or edited in post.
so now you know the story of goncharov the movie the game, my favourite game i've never played and probably never will. while it may well have been a missed opportunity, i like to think it paved the way for such classics as enter the matrix, and ratatouille the movie the game, and what would the world be like without them?

Things I learned while listening to the Pokemon 4Ever / Celebit voice of the forest movie
These guys do in fact watch the subs- if not multiple times and even like the subs.
When it comes to rewriting scripts changes I really get the feeling they do care, and also in some cases it seems like the VAs are kinda just given the prompt of 'do your best and fill in what fits here' like if its coming up with a new joke cause the Japanese one doesn't translate/work well or whatever.
Sometimes rewrites seem to occur just cause of the different way story telling gets handle in Japan compared to to the U.S but like I don't think it's coming from a place of 'hur dur children are dumb' most of the time anyway
Like changing up/adding in a whole scene to make it more clear that Sammy is in fact meant to be Oak since in the Original JP it's apparently far more subtle with really the only clue being that one brief clip during the credits of finding the sketch book in the lab and that's it - which while watching apparently at the time even they were like 'wait what?" and trying to figure out if this was meaning Sammy was Oak or what (Like in some ways it seems obvious but I suppose an alternate take someone might misunderstand it as Oak also having known Sammy at one point and being given then book)
But like apparently the people were pretty chill with it when they went and requested having this whole knew scene / wanting to make the change.
Basically over all it seems like everyone involved is/was very passionate about it also sounds like they occasionally would like get in contact with those in Japan if they ever had questions/need clarification on something.
-
And a fact that I refuse to believe after looking on the Wiki is that when showing the time jump between Sammy and Ash's time in the Sub/JP text pops up saying 40yrs later,
Sammy/Oak is at oldest in early teen years, like maybe 13 at best when we meet him as a kid. THere ain't no way that man is in his 50s and with a 12 year old Grandson
like even if he was real early 20s when he had kids that would still put him at 40 / early 40s by the time they're 20 and would mean they'd have had to have had Gary like right then at 20/21- which not impossible but kinda pushing it. And that's assuming his older sister doesn't exist in the anime- I don't think we ever see or hear anything so maybe she doesn't
So nah that man is minimum late 50s pushing into his 60s
Same goes for the Girl/Woman who was/is Oaks old friend she looked maybe 16-17 in that time but flash forward and the woman Ash n Co meet looks more like she's in her 70s (with also a like 16 year old Grandaughter)
So gotta go with the dub on this one on just choosing to erase/ not make mention of exactly how many years it is between Sammy's time and present day with Ash.
Main thing is it was cool hearing about their process and just how much everyone involved just seemed to love it and care (sure maybe sometimes edits/changes are questionable but at the very least it seems like generally there were good intentions behind whatever was done and certainly wasn't due to a lack of caring about the original product either)

2k12 tmnt for the fandom asks
(sorry i haven't answered yours yet, been having an off day but i'll get to it soon 🙏)
(lol no worries take your time friend!)
SEND ME A FANDOM
 I’ll tell you:
The first character I first fell in love with:  I feel the answer is well know XD I love Raph! I mean makes sense he was my favorite in 03 but I turly loved what 2012 did with him as well. He such a cocky shit at the start of the show and its not that he stops that trait but you do see how he develops for the better as the shown went on. Him feeling he was better and should be leader to how he more takes to his role in his team. You see him go from someone who cracks under pressure when given leadership to making sure he's always prepared, how he makes sure none of them esp Leo are left behind how he lets his softer side come out more when Chompy comes in. HE's also a little smart ass and people need to let him cuss he's had it u-u
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now:
Shinigami, I sort of dropped off watch 2012 during season 4 so I didn't see her much outside a few epsiode I caught here and there. I havent quite gotten to when she is in the show now either outside clips and such I have seen. But I expected me to feel as I do Renet shes fine but there. Honestly though? I love her. I like how she isn't the usual gloom and doom but even laughs at Mikey's jokes i dunno I just enjoy her.
The character everyone else loves that I don’t:
Renet, I wouldn't say I hate her. Much how I just wasn't much for the 03 version I would say gose the same in 12. I like her just fine shes a fun charater for the episodes she comes in for and such mostly love the season 5 monter arch. I personlly love her most for the fact she shares a VA with Terra from Teen Titans so it was like getting Beast Boy and Terra back. She just there she's fine I dont find her annoying but Im not hyped about her personally myself.
The character I love that everyone else hates:
I wouldn't say he is hated but I do see Casey tends to not get much love or people will makes statments about him I just don't agree with like saying he is selfish and uncaring. When you do see that isn't ture. You learn that he and raph talk about stuff like what happened to spike. You see hes the one April talks when at the time who she thought was her mom wanted to leave and she had to pick to stay or go with her. Casey dose care about the turtles he often right there when they need help, he covers them in their battles and like the nightmare episode from the farm house arch he was ready to beat an old man for possibly being the reason they were going to die. I genuinely just love Casey my re watch has made me love him even more I just can't get over his stupid laugh sometimes XD
The character I used to love but don’t any longer:
Slash, NOT that I hate him either I thought he was villain longer though? but he had such a sudden turn around and it felt like such a waste to me. I felt like he could have been good as Raph arch enemy over Xever. Could been used to add to Raph and Casey friendship/partnership. I still like Slash I just wish he had been a villain a bit longer just for all untap story he had to offer.
The character I would totally smooch:
Give all the turtles smooches on their heads they been through it in this shown u-u
The character I’d want to be like:
hmmm mr murakami? I dunno dude seems to be enjoying live got hos own businesses willing to make stuff for the turtles he seems chill despite getting dragged into stuff from just knowing the turtles.
The character I’d slap:
-Raph I love my boy but he needs to be slapped u-u
-Leo also needs a slap sometimes
-Casey he exsits hit em
-Donnie i love him to but smack this boy A pairing that I love:
Rasey uwu I love these two no matter the series I gotta ship these idiots im a sucker for the best friends to lovers trope A pairing that I despise:
hmm I don't think I have any sure theres some I dont ship or personally like much but eh cant say I have a ship I like hate you know? Besides I rather spend time enjoy what I love anyway.

hello I am a fellow transmasc VA on GWAG, and I love your Loki stuff! do you have any tips on building an audience and overcoming imposter syndrome? also how best to support and uplift other VAs when you don't have money;;;? also do you think posting audio on Tumblr is worth trying or should we just stick to promoting other stuff here? sorry this is like a jillion questions lmao
ah hi! omg, okay so i'll do my best to answer everything.
building an audience: i wish i could give you tips, but i really feel as though i got lucky. my first audios were all of fictional characters who were popular at the time because the shows had recently come out. and then i was/am also making 'royalty kink' content. i would say all i know that's helped me is making sure to tag things right.
imposter syndrome: i've never gotten this for my voice acting, but definitely do for my drawing, and sorry but i can't give any tips, i'm not a therapist nor know enough about this in any way.
how to support other voice actors: i'm subscribed to a lot of VAs and and i try engage with the content in terms of watching, liking, and on platforms that allow sharing like twitter and tumblr also retweeting and reblogging. other than that, i don't know. i don't actually know any other VAs personally, haven't ever talk to any others because i really don't know how, i'm not the type to message people randomly and i wouldn't want to come off as weird and get anxious about the idea of it.
is posting audios on tumblr worth it?: i have posted audios as audio files and then stopped because my audios got so long and tumblr's limit of file size is really small and i just couldn't upload anything without compressing it to the point of it being inaudible. however, when i posted audios directly to tumblr they did a lot better in terms of notes than they do now i just link to the youtube uploads.
and then i'm not sure what you mean by "should we just stick to promoting other stuff here".. like... what other stuff?
at the end of the day tumblr is not going to be the platform your audios get the most attention on. a lot of my followers on here come from my writing, not my audios. but yes without tumblr i wouldn't have launched my audios and they still get some attention and i'm not going to stop sharing my audios here even if sometimes they get like 10 notes because it doesn't cost me anything to share them here, there's no downside to it, and there's always an off chance one of them reaches someone who ends up finding my content for the first time and liking it.

This might be a topic that not a lot of people in the TOH fandom are gonna be interested in but this is Tumblr, no one cares about anyone's opinions, it's a hellsite so I'll just be dumping this out
As a side note, if anyone has a different opinion about this topic than me, that's fine
So for starters I speak both German and English, with German being my first language
Yet I mostly watch shows in English, TOH being no exception. I have always watched it in English and I will always watch it in English
However that did not stop my curiosity from checking out the German dub of the show to hear what they have done with it. Because usually the German dub for something isn't actually that bad. Gravity Falls did an amazing German dub, so I had some high hopes for this one
But let me tell you, I was let down massively
For starters the main trio did not have the best voices. Luz was probably the best out of them but she also didn't sound like her whole heart was in it. Eda sounds really dull and kinda emotionless and I'm not even gonna start on King. For those who are curious like me, go look up clips of his German voice online. All I can say is that every time he spoke I was laughing just at how bad it was
And sadly this is how most of the voices in the German dub were handled
They either sounded just wrong, really dull as if the VAs didn't even try to voice them, or they somehow just messed up the voices entirely. The big examples being King and S1 Gus who sounds like S2 Gus
And Raine… well they are a whole different can of worms that I will not go into, but I am sure you guys can imagine what the issue here is
Sure there are some good moments of voice acting in the dub
The Blight twins and Amity have some really good voices that are on par with the English ones
And I actually like Belos' and Hunter's voices as well. Although they almost sound like their personalities are switched up, with Belos having a slightly sassy tone and Hunter sounding more bored and strict
(On a side note: I think it's really funny that the German VA for Belos is named Philipp)
But sadly the overall dub just isn't great and I normally don't say it, or don't like saying it, but the German dub really let me down for once and I'm a little disappointed about it.
Again this is a topic that might not be interesting to read about at all, but I think we also should take a look at how this amazing show is treated and presented outside of the English speaking region
(Additional note: please don't take this as me hating on the VAs for the dub. I actually recognized a lot of them from different medias that I watched in German, and I know that they are trying their best. Sometimes the voice acting is actually really good, but the voices just don't fit)
