So, not too too much happened during the live. JK came, talked a little tiny bit about his upcoming single, working on an album and a little more too, worked out, was his own cute self and dipped.

That was that in a nutshell.

Now let's dive in a little deeper.

JK talked about Seven. Well, telling us it's coming out on the 14 July and that he's excited about it.

There is an album in the works, but not finalized just yet.

Oh, and the MV, it's a wrap, and was fun. Now I'm truly curious.

I did talk about the song not being written by him in my previous post. He heard it with BPD and said he wants to do it a lot. His words.

He heard it, he liked it, he wanted to do it. Not personal, not a life story.

Doesn't mean the lyrics didn't 'speak' to him in a sense. Didn't mean something to him. You can feel connected to a song that isn't written by yourself. But it is something to keep in mind when we hear the song, watch the MV and see the lyrics, lol.

What I love about that man is that he's so aware. He knows there are those that do not approve (you know, those idiots that think they have ownership over him or a right to tell him what to do). And yet, he doesn't give a shit. He wanted it, he did it. If they want to accept it they will, if they don't sucks for them. And the thing is that when he says it, he does it so nicely and respectfully. I LOVE IT!!!

He told us he's taking English lessons.

As a matter of fact, he had one just before starting the live.

Funny how both JK and JM seem to be studying English at night.

JK talks about doing intermittent dieting, so he bought snacks but can't eat them just yet.

Well, he didn't give us a spoiler, but we did get the next best thing, lol.

Well, working out can be alone or together. There are many forms of working out... Does he really want us to wonder all of that?

I absolutely adore that JK has no problem what so ever that we see him like this. No makeup, every hair possible out of place, tired, sleepy, drunk, sad, happy, just bare.

He trusts us to see him bare.

Writing those lines, that sentence, idk why, it brings tears to my eyes.

He's not afraid to be himself. Take it or leave it. Yes, he plays the part of the idol, but he isn't afraid to show us him, a real human being just like us (just way prettier and sexier and more talented and more intelligent and in better shape), as much as he can under the circumstances of being an idol and a celebrity.

How can we not LOVE this young man?

I wrote this post based on the translations available. Of course I will watch the live translated and come back with corrections if be needed.

This to me felt more like a scheduled live for him, less one he just wanted to do, to keep connected with us or to convey a message that doesn't have to do with his own promotions (you get what I'm saying). And it makes sense it was pretty much scheduled, given the announcement of his single release. But who cares? We got us some cute ass JK. Just seeing him warms my heart. I assume it has the same effect on you.

Vee's Studies!

I'm like, kind of obsessed with them lmao. While I've drawn Vox quite a lot (I've been working on a Vox animation thing over the last month-ish) I hadn't done much of anything when it came to Val and Vel. I knew I'd want to do something with them all later on, but I wanted to get a good understanding of their designs, shape language, and the differences between the three of them so I can play a lot more when it comes to doing them (heh) in my own style.

So, since I was most familiar (and most obsessed with out of the three lol), I started with Vox :3

While I've been working on the animation project, it had kind of been an 'adjust-as-I-go'/'let's-bullshit-this' process, rather than doing the work of understanding why certain things looked more correct than others, so I still learned a LOT from this one study. (Plus the scene makes me wheeze and I happily took the excuse to use that moment as his study reference haha)

Obviously Val is... an asshole, to really undersell it. But this is hell, his character is interesting and his design is immaculate. I think I had the most fun with studying him tbh. Without his santa wings-coat he- *coughs* - yeah. Uh. Good design. I can actually believe that Angel fell for him at one point. Manipulative bastard - sorry tangents. ANYWAY! XD

VERY fun to draw, and a very good balance within these designs of showing off character attributes but also not taking themselves too seriously (The HATS these boys wear! *wheeze* did Velvette just give up fighting them on it? I've gotta know haha)

I missed color too much by this point to make them all match perfectly, and frankly - trying to draw canon Velvette without hue differentiation is AWFUL she has so many details and overlapping elements. If I ever have to draw Vel from 1x03 again I might cry.

Something about her 1x03 look actually makes me feel viseral irritation just by seeing it (like, even b4 I made myself draw it), but then I see her in 1x08 and I wanna draw her forever???? She's so fucking cool? So fucking cute????? The duality of man ig lmao

Anyway, the TLDR is that actually being conscious of how things are represented when drawing a character can lead to surprisingly immense insight... I feel like I not only understand so much more about how to represent their characters, but also a much firmer grasp about how the shape language in the show works.

These designs are immaculate and I had so much fun. I actually have a lot more I could say about this, but my period came today and I'm tired and this post is already massive so I'll leave things here for now! But yeah! Hopefully more Vee's in the future bc I love them!

Mei:

Literally, she loves the duality of you and finds it adorable. As someone whose always loud and excited but also gets EXTRA excited around close friends, she can vibe with that! She also doesn't mind being your extroverted shield and never leaves your side during public places and if she does, she makes sure she's really quick because she doesn't want you to be uncomfy. She isn't worried about you being unhealthy attached to her because she knows you go at your own pace and she's proud of you and thinks you're super cool for that!

Like a mind reader too because she sees you internally dying and being silent and she's all: "KAY, THANK YOU, BUT WE GOTTA GO NOW, BYEEEEEE-"

MK:

LITERALLY HE IS SO PERFECT FOR THIS S/O. He's extroverted but he's also like really goofy himself and gets a bit awkward around new people so he doesn't mind that you choose to stick next to him. It also helps him worry about you less. I can imagine this is how you guys started dating, like you always gravitate towards him and ye gets really excited because HEY, HE KNOWS YOU TOO and he overall just feels so honoured he's one if those people you feel relaxed to be yourself around. Worries when you don't talk much and will take you to a private place to ask if you're okay and tell you that it's okay if you wanna leave!

Wukong:

RELATABLE, HONESTLY. He will admit that he loves seeing you just casually being outgoing with your friends and he thinks its adorable and precious and he teases you when you're silent but not to the point its hurtful, he just thinks its really adorable. You're lucky he's super clingy too and never really wants to leave you alone so he's just got his arm around your shoulder or he's holding your hand. Either way, he loves everything about you ngl and the both of you have very similar vibes. Until he starts a fight, then you're gonna have to either talk your way out of it or find a way to subtly sneak off with him.

Macaque:

I think this would be really cute if he fell in love with you for this reason, maybe after his redemption where you're silent and stuff but then as you get comfortable and more outgoing with him, he slowly starts to fall in love with you. I'm not saying he gets smug when you gravitate towards him but he gets very smug and teases you for a bit but otherwise, he really doesn't mind chilling with you. Since he would be the type to notice your behavior, if you're uncomfortable or you feel awkward in a situation, he'll just casually snatch you away. Loves seeing you be outgoing too. LITERALLY, IT WOULD BE THE CUTEST THING EVER IF YOU WERE INTRODUCING HIM TO YOUR FRIEND GROUP AND YOU EXCITEDLY START TALKING ABOUT HOW YOU GUYS ARE DATING because he sees how passionately you talk about things and he feels really happy that, well, he's now one of the things you excitedly talk about

WAIT I forgot to tell you penguins that I actually went to Blackpink's concert! Sooo...

My Experience in BlackPink's Concert!

It didn't cross my mind and, to sum up my life right now, I went through a painful and very loud breakup of an almost 5 years relationship (We almost got engaged even). But there was someone, a dear friend I had for 4 years, there that helped me and took me by the hand during hard times and eventually, we fell in love and now she's my girlfriend. Why is this relevant you ask? Because she's the one that took me to the concert.

I actually had no hope of going. The tickets were too expensive and they sold out so quickly that I didn't even try to get some. But just then, when she told me she had bought them to go with her ex and didn't have someone to go with her anymore... She offered me the extra ticket.

And guys it was INCREDIBLE.

I gotta say, those girls know how to put on a show. The production value was worth it! Elevating stage, platforms, confetti and fire effects for various songs, it was an outdoor venue so FIREWORKS???

And those girls... Gorgeous. Talented. Untouchable. They're this big for a reason and definitely anyone there can't deny it.

Jisoo was cute as always, launching some spanish words here and there but always so confident of herself. Also, my girlfriend recorded my reaction to her solo... And I'm just dying all the time. I also believe that Mexico reaaaally loves Jisoo. I'm glad, really glad that's my bias treatment here.

Jennie was the one that learnt the most Spanish. And overall, I was so impressed by her duality. She can be the cutest girl ever a second and the moment a song starts she becomes a KILLER.

Rosé was soooo pretty. Her starting her solo stage with Hard to Love send me flying over the atmosphere. I wasn't prepared. The other of the girls that learnt a bit of spanish and was always really cute about it.

Lisa was so... Shy? Cutely shy. You wouldn't believe that coming from the girl who started her solo WITH POLE DANCE??? But every time her time came to talk to the audience she blushed and giggled and hid behind the other girls. I... I love her so much.

But I can't talk only about them because honestly... The dancers and the band??? INCREIBLE. I was soooo damn happy that they gave them time to shine on their own and even introduced the band by their names. They really do look like a big family and what's not to love about that.

I loved it. Loved every second of it. I loved it soooo much😍

seonghwa: god, i can really see seonghwa being either/both. like on the days he's feeling himself, you've never seen smoothness like that. probably has your head empty all day long because he keeps you on your toes with whispered words and subtle touches that linger on your skin. but on days where he's just kinda... existing he'll be more awkward. like lil awkward smiles and not quite knowing how to handle you being so flirty with him even though he likes it a lot. i think this is a relationship where you each play both parts depending on the day. (and that's fun love that for you)

yunho: BOTH. we've seen how yunho is. he's always bold, but in a shy way? he's so cute sjfsfsfa. wouldn't hesitate to say something that would catch you off guard in the best possible way, but if you matched his energy he just might shy smile into oblivion. i think overall he would be the flirty one, though. he wouldn't let getting flustered stop him from making you swoon. he likes that feeling way too much. if you're flirty with him, he'll push past that shyness to one-up you because you deserve it. if you're awkward, he'll badger you with charm until you no longer feel awkward with him.

yeosang: listen. the duality in this group is really fucking up this list lmao. i can almost say both for all of them. but fr, yeosang is both okay. he starts out as the awkward one because he doesn't want to cross any boundaries with you. he blushes like crazy when you flirt with him and avoids eye contact because he knows his cheeks are bright red. but as he gets more comfortable with you, the roles switch. you know that deadpan humor he's best known for? he's like that when he says some shit that makes you squirm in your seat. would drop a one-liner that leaves your mouth dry and just smile politely and walk away like he didn't do anything. he's a menace.

san: zero people are surprised that he's the flirty one. pretty sure san flirts with anyone and anything that crosses his path. it's just his mode of communication at this point. you're the awkward one because seconds after meeting this handsome mf he's winking at you and holding eye contact with you like you know each other like that when you definitely do not. he relishes in any and every reaction he gets out of you so any blush or nervous shifting of your body will be both noted and adored by him.

mingi: the awkward one. he loooooves the attention you give him, maybe a little too much. he gets so wrapped up in your affection that his brain forgets how to work properly so he's got nothing for you but a big smile that takes up half his face and giggles. he can hype himself up to charm you on occasion too, but it doesn't come as effortlessly as it does for you. unless we're talking about on stage we all know he exudes charm up there if you can call it that

wooyoung: the flirty one. awkward is not in his vocabulary. even if you tried to fluster him, he would outdo you. probably does a lot of nonverbal flirting with you. gazes at you in a way that makes you feel things, holds his lips in the perfect pout that keeps your eyes glued to them. smirks at you when he knows everything is going to plan, as expected. pain in the ass about it but you love it. definitely goes out of his way to fluster you in front of other people so you gotta stay strong 😭

jongho: both, but when he's flirting, it hits different. like with the other guys, it's pretty clear what they're trying to do. but with jongho... he doesn't even think of it as flirting. he's just stating facts. and that makes it worse somehow? like you're over here weak kneed and he's like ?? i just said the truth what about it 😌 definitely gets smiley and quiet when you flirt with him too though, especially if you really go for it. he won't be prepared for something that heavy. give him a minute though and he'll have something for you.

soobin: there is no universe in which soobin is anything but the awkward one. just the hint of a flirty tone will have him on his toes. if you hit him with a direct line, he's looking at you like a deer in headlights, eyes bigger than you've ever seen them. probably doesn't say a word for a minute because he's trying to process what's happening and how to respond at the same time. lowkey loves when you fluster him like that. that feeling is a real high for him and you can tell. he doesn't even have to tell you.

yeonjun: he's the flirty one all day long. even if he isn't feeling his best, he knows how to fake it until he makes it. loves to watch you respond to him even if it's all completely nonverbal. probably likes it even more then because it feels like it "worked" better. he knows if you're so affected by him that you can't formulate a response, he's got you wrapped around his finger right where he wants you. probably doesn't get flustered easily, but on the off-chance you catch him off guard, you're absolutely right that it's the cutest thing ever. he may not feel that way but it is.

beomgyu: the flirty one. i definitely think he gets flustered more easily than yeonjun, but he can cover it up much easier than other people. he can just laugh it off and pretend it doesn't affect him and he'll be pretty successful at this unless you're really good at reading people. it might even annoy you sometimes because you're trying to get a certain response out of him, but he's laughing you off and it makes you want to smack him lmao. but he f l i r t s, okay? always says some shit when you least expect it. like pulls you into him like he needs to whisper something important to you only to look directly into your eyes and tell you that he likes the perfume you're wearing today. keeps staring into your soul for a solid minute before diverting his attention elsewhere to leave you wondering, imagining.

taehyun: the awkward one. he's more subtle about things generally, so if you flirt with him in an obvious way, it makes him nervous. he'll just kinda smile at you and awkward chuckle before changing the subject because he does not know what to do in that situation. he's not even sure if he likes it because he's not necessarily a fan of things he's not good at oops. as he warms up to it and you, though, i can see him getting flirtier. i don't think he'd ever be the in-your-face kind of flirty, but he'll occasionally surprise you with a blunt take that steals the words out of your mouth.

hueningkai: both and neither? he's not particularly flirty nor particularly awkward. he'll engage in light flirting and finds it amusing. he doesn't fluster very easily with you unless you're at the top of your game, and even then, he's not so flustered that he's awkward. has no problem initiating with you either. will not hesitate to toss you a line over text with a winky emoji in the middle of the day for no reason at all. he's just vibing, you know? he's having a good time being with you. it's not so heavy for him.

The fact that there's no mention of Emperor Belos having any living family members, or of the Golden Guard title being a thing at all in the first season makes his introduction feel kind of out of left field. More of a problem with the writing than with his character, but still.

The guilt Luz is abt to feel. She kinda pulled hunter into belos' mind, consequently ruining his life and making him panic and run (we still don't know where, and it seems odd that nobody brought him up) and now she's pulled king to the island where they found out he's a titan - which has gotta be a tough pill to swallow. And now, eda might be arrested cause, again, she was in the emporers mind.

Very worried about Luz. None of its her fault really, but she still pulled the ppl into the situations without realizing it and she'll face that eventually - with belos or the collector using it to get in her head and bring her down.

This episode was eventful- both surprisingly and unsurprisingly. Very well written, good job crew ❤

And I'd like to say that I wonder what raine and the others are doing? Panicking? With hunter (as I hope)? Just... went back to their jobs when they were sure that eda got the kids out?

And yes! Seongmin is absolutely shining in this comeback, and that's wonderful. Yes everyone is doing amazing, but this really feels like the era for him. And Colourful! I think you mentioned before about your interest in songwriting, so hearing your thoughts on this song is a delight. The lyrics are rly lovely, mainly just the imagery of discovering new colours / new bright parts of life through experiences and other people :( the first line of the chorus is 'so bright that I can't open my eyes' .. and I love it so much! It's like there's so much goodness that it's overwhelming and you can't take it in at once :( and the theme in general, colour is something they talk about all the time as a group because they bring forwards their distinctive colours and cravity itself is a rainbow mishmash of all of them. So ruby writing that since he's met the members, since he's met fans and had these experiences his world has gotten more bright and colourful ... </3 I'll literally cry.

It's rly cool to listen to songs as a writer tbh fjdj it's something I'm knowledgable in and want to constantly learn so I literally listen to a song and learn about it best I can!! Lyrics are one thing but with kpop I mostly listen for melodies and production/arrangment things. And I can get very easily sucked into specific aspects fjdj so listening to colorful.. I literally got out a pen and paper and tried to figure out what was going on in wonjins bridge part because it has an interesting and disorientating rhythm jfjdjd. But yeah bascislly how I listen to things that might differ from others is that I can hear the intentional choices made ?? Because I have the language behind it I can see it laid out and be like OH that was nice of them to sing that note instead of this one etc. So getting to experience doing that with woobins writing !! Hey wow what if I relapse for the next 2 months so I can be super skinny again for Halloween this year 🙃 half bc I hooked up with a skinny boy the other day and now I can't stop thinking about how cute we would be together if I was like 10-20 lbs smaller 🙃 and he's a festi boy so imagine us going out partying in cute complementary costumes ughhhh

Also gotta start working out so I can lift things better so it's like the duality between wanting to be skinny / wanting to be strong enough to actually do good work and grow in this new career industry

But like according to losertown if I do 800 cal per day and moderate exercise 3-5 times per week I'd be lower than my LW by Halloween... Which isn't that hard like if I keep it up for 6 weeks I'd be 103 for my best friend's wedding which is the usual gw and that would be great + "healthy" and then another 3 weeks after that would be 95 which has always been the ugw ! Imagine. (LW was 99 and I was too skinny but also enjoyed the attention from it so it'd be cool to hit it again at least one more time) ... And then just maintaining the same size while growing muscle and building strength and endurance lol idk it doesn't seem unreasonable! We'll see how it goes I guess 🙏

Saimota is a fantastic ship that only improves with age and their respective maturity. Right from the get-go we see this in canon, too! They have a tumultuous first clash at the end of chapter 1 which is immediately turned on its head, and the subsequent growth and development of their in-game relationship really stands out that much more because of it.

This is a long one, so strap in!

Kaito realizes his mistake in his approach after punching him the night before and rectifies it immediately the next morning when he notices Shuichi hasn’t come to breakfast, rightly guessing that he’s stewing in his own grief and misery. And then, being the emotionally intelligent guy he is, he follows up that night and drags him out to exercise (which, y’know, releases endorphins and is scientifically proven to help with mood boosts and even depression) - a move which Shuichi says in chapter 5 saved his life.

A couple days pass and a body drops. Kaito supports him through the investigation knowing that Kaede had been with him last time and that there’s a danger of him relapsing. In the trial, too, Kaito makes every effort to let Shuichi know that he isn’t alone and someone does have his back if he fumbles. This is the real moment that Shuichi chooses to depend on Kaito and is rewarded for it, and while Kaito does get plenty of ego-feed out of it, he believes in Shuichi and his talent wholeheartedly (enough so that it’ll come back to bite him later). But despite it being framed as a ‘hero and sidekick’ relationship, it’s not just for Kaito’s self-worth - it’s to take some of the mental load off of Shuichi, who really, really doesn’t want the pressure of everyone’s lives solely on his shoulders, and is now dealing with the guilt of two cases where uncovering the guilty party hurt him.

(quick chapter 2 interlude! while this is where a lot of the big hero-worship begins for Shuichi and happens to be where I also did his first FTE and got to witness this:

mmm yes, the duality of man. Suffice it to say, while Shuichi has definite rose-coloured glasses on for a lot of the game, Kaito is definitely not an invincible, untouchable hero in his eyes)

Interestingly enough, despite Shuichi still very much leaning into their friendship (and vice versa), they don’t spend a lot of time together in Chapter 3 after he brings Maki out to training that first night! While Chapter 4 is their real ‘break’, Kaito spends a lot of time in his room in the second half while Shuichi gets to know Maki better. And while Maki is a much, uh, meaner investigation partner (love you girl, but that tongue is sharp), they make a great team. Shuichi also starts poking at Kaito’s reason for holing up in his room, incorrectly guess that it’s just related to the occult being brought up. Most importantly, Shuichi is able to do an investigation on his own independent of Kaito just a week after the end of Chapter 1.

Chapter 4 and its immediate aftermath in 5 is great because it showcases Kaito’s flaws and insecurity, and what conflict between the two of them look like. It’s because Kaito respects Shuichi so much that cracks in his own confidence start appearing - and while Shuichi can be obtuse and awkward at times, he shows signs of wanting to broach some more sensitive topics with Kaito; if you do FTEs with Kaito in Ch 4, he even has an inner narrative in which he notes that Kaito had said his stomach hurt before.

He’s not so self-absorbed as to not worry about his friend (but narratively we gotta save that juicy plot point and subsequent reveal for the end of the trial) but hey, Kaito wants to chill and just shoot the shit - so why not have some downtime with his friend in the murder school. Btw, their FTE availability ends here - so if Shuichi has completed them with Kaito, he’s already had his canon-saimota thoughts at this point. While I have given Shuichi the side-eye for his ‘I can rely on Kaito for anything’ spiel, he is fully able and willing to stand up to Kaito in the Chapter 4 trial despite his canon feelings for him at that point. By the way, it’s been a week and a half since the end of Chapter 1 at this point. Shuichi and Kaito have had an arc together where they become fast friends in a pressure-cooker situation and bonding over shared grief for Kaede (even if Kaito’s is less obvious), Shuichi starts as dependent on Kaito’s emotional support but learns to stand on his own two feet, and Kaito is forced to confront his own weakness and hero persona, all while classmates are dropping (including Kaito’s own ex-hero figure, a stark reminder that ‘heroes’ do have flaws).

So the beginning of Chapter 5 is wild to me because of how it’s so often misinterpreted as Kaito immaturely giving Shuichi the silent treatment despite the entirety of the game preceding it explicitly showing that Kaito will tell you, loudly, when he’s angry at you, and that’s purely because we’re in Shuichi’s perspective and he thinks that’s what’s going on - but that’s a bit of a tangent. What I like about it is how we get to see what happens when Kaito (as sick as he is at that point) feels badly and embarrassed with someone he is close to; he withdraws as opposed to lashing out. And while Shuichi is really, really bad at reaching out too without an inciting incident (tunnel escape), he does try and broach the topic when push comes to shove. He’s not lost in hero worship, not even close - he is rightfully upset that the person he’s closest to at the school is upset while still maintaining to himself and the others that his actions were correct. He doesn’t waver on this, despite his attempt to offer an olive branch at the window of the hangar’s bathroom. He truly stands by his own choices in the last class trial and know he won't back down on that if push comes to shove, and that's important - he won't yield the point just to appease Kaito. Shuichi then manages the investigation on his own, leads the trial on his own, faces off with Maki (and who he thinks is Kokichi) on his own, because he has *reached* a point where he can be independent. And to bring it back to how we get a look at ‘saimota in conflict’, Shuichi and Kaito both make amends with each other by the end of the chapter. Even if it’s spurred by it being their final goodbye, Shuichi gets to say his piece, Kaito lays out one of his own vulnerabilities so he can make peace with Shuichi - and even if I’d love to have had them delve into all of Kaito's various issues, there is a very murderous robobear overseeing this which makes time a factor - and I firmly believe that if they had more time, they could’ve resolved even more of the issues that would come up for Saimota. The groundwork wasn’t just there; there was already half the structure in place. And that’s what makes saimota even more appealing to me, tbh. We get to see them build a relationship, run into a big issue, struggle through it and resolve it by the end of the game - and it means that there’s precedent for them to do it again as more interpersonal challenges come up! It’s a goldmine of ship exploration, and they care about each other enough to work through it.

… By the way, at this point they are 2 weeks past the end of Chapter 1.

Imagine if they had more time. Imagine if Shuichi, who is absolutely dogged in pursuing an issue once he catches wind of it (despite how he can get wrapped up in his own head), who cares a lot for other people, who doesn’t just find runaways as part of his detective talent, but follows up with them after because he cares about more than just finishing the job, had the chance to spend years with Kaito and realize he uses his hero persona to protect a much more fragile sense of self. Imagine Shuichi forming that initial friendship with Kaito without the albatross of Kaede’s death hanging around his neck; about how he’ll still look up to Kaito and his fantastic positivity, passion and excellence in his chosen field, and that would only be matched by Kaito’s own admiration of Shuichi’s skills as a detective. Imagine if Kaito, who repeatedly shows the ability to reflect and change his mind when presented with evidence against his viewpoint and was able to express his own insecurity and jealousy to Shuichi in the end, was given the breathing room and space to get more comfortable with doing so. Imagine how difficult and emotionally mature they were to navigate as well as they did in a life-or-death situation that took place over a couple of weeks tops, and how much more they could grow if given the time and space for it.

... And this was nearly going to be where I ended the post, until Ira reminded me of TDP and sent me this wonderful Saimota event (which takes place before the final graduation/training trio event):

Oh hey, Shuichi picked up his catchphrase! It's quite cute how he's finishing Kaito's sentence here - he's spent a couple of years being friends with Kaito at this point, and has even taken up exercising on his own for stress relief. I wonder whose influence that was?

Anyway -

Shuichi has figured out at this point that he does need to firmly extend that helping hand to Kaito rather than worry and keep it to himself. On the other side, Kaito has learned that it is okay to accept that outstretched hand, even if he doesn't need it right now - that he can admit that some day, he might. He's being blase, sure, but it is a far cry from his in-game 'I don't/won't need help'. Good for you, Kaito - you've grown a lot! And that's the most important thing their TDPs show - their capacity for growth not just as individuals, but in a relationship. Of course there will be bumps along the way - it’s very rare that any relationship won’t have them! - but they've proven that they can work these problems in the worst of circumstances. This is by far one of the strongest ships with canon foundation in the entire series, and my goodness do I still love it years later.
