Pride Wonder Woman & Pride Ms Marvel : canadiancomiccutie
My pride Wonder Woman and Ms.Marvel, both costumes I came up with to show my love and support for the LGBTQ+ community. I loved the idea of having strong women stand up for the community. I have cosplayed Wonder Woman for years and many mash up versions as well. I however had never seen one based around Pride. So I decided to change that!
My Ms.Marvel, I had asked my followers who they thought I should make for this year and I had multiple suggestions for her. And adding the rainbow to her lightning bolt just made perfect sense. I will continue to make a new one each year. As well as continue to sell the stickers with profits going towards The Trevor Project.
I have yet to wear either to an event or con, but with that being said the pics were taken in a small town by a high school. I had a few teenagers come up and take pics and even one state that they appreciate the costume so much cause they were gay and being from a small town it’s hard to be accepted. I gave this teen the biggest hug and told them I was proud of them and we both teared up!
I have been cosplaying before it was called cosplay. My family ran a haunted house so I have grown up around costumes and dressing up year round. My first convention, I dressed up as Snow White (store bought costume) and was looked at like I was crazy I swear there was only like 4 people including myself that dresses up. So I felt out of place, but that didn’t stop me from going again the next day in costume.
Remembering it’s ok to fail!! Failure leads to success!! I also love to share my failures! Most people only share when they complete the costume and it’s perfect. When I was starting to make my own stuff I was overwhelmed with how easy everyone made it look and how no one ever failed!!!! So I try to make sure I show everyone that it’s ok to fail!
