I think I’ve talked about our cat on here before. He’s black, he’s called Morpheus (my daughter had given him a different name when he was a kitten, but that didn’t stick, not even for her), ‘nuff said.

There’s a beautiful Bengal in the neighbourhood he seems to like (they’re both neutered/spayed, no real risk), but I never perceived the affection as mutual. She just eyes him with suspicion, sometimes lets him get a bit closer and then gives him the cold shoulder. He always looks a bit crushed, you get the picture.

Well, we had to get him to the vet yesterday because finally, the Bengal slapped him. Hard.

He now has deep scratch under his right eye. The vet thinks it may leave a scar, and she said he’s lucky she didn’t get his eye any more than she did (the cornea is slightly scratched, but he’ll hopefully be okay with some antibiotics, which are a pain in the arse btw).

Now we have a black cat called Morpheus with a scar under his eye. Given to him by a female. What could possibly go wrong?

And then they say art mirrors life. I think it’s the other way round…
