#cerberus sans ship

HI ? HELLO I ONLY NOW SAW THE POST FOR THE CHARACTER DYNAMIC HEADCANONS SO LIKE,,,, I SAW CERBERUS (HORROR/DUST/FELL/CROSS I THINK) IN YOUR SHIP LIST AND I NEED TO KNOW MORE
WAAAAAA Cerberus, as you said, is a ship between Horror, Cross, Dust, and Fell, and I love it 😭
I cant remember who started it but I’m pretty sure I read about it on a Twitter thread some time ago?? My info could be wrong but what I remember from the general storyline of the thread was like
fell and dust are buddies (heh.) and dust visits underfell, but still ends up going home to wait for the anomaly, because he can’t be convinced otherwise.
fell gives him a collar/necklace thing he keeps with him.
he goes back to underfell one time and it’s😭 empty. Reds jacket is on the ground and everyone’s gone. WHICH SHOULDNT HAPPEN IN UNDERFELL. Devestated, dust takes red’s jacket and, eventually, leaves. He’s gone. he eventually gets yoinked by mr noot himself
AND meets horror obviously. Over time they hit it off😌
I remember some sort of thing between cross and dust, I think it was underverse related, where Cross feels bad for something he did and dust is just like 🤷🏽‍♀️ idgaf.
basically those two have a lot of clashing because cross is like. Insecure basically💀 and that makes horror mad because him and dust have gotten really close, and cross is JEALOUS and HSJSJS DRAMA. they work it out EVENTUALLY surely
AND EUEU I HAVE NO IDEA WHEN OR HOW but apparently Red shows up at some point and I imagine it’s either like dust has to be shocked and try to remind him of who he is with the collar and jacket, or dust is like *sigh* that’s not my red eueueu, and reds like YOOO BITCH???
they get to reunite✨🩷💥 I think fell and horror got along easier then fell and cross because of underverse😀 but they work it out and everyone’s fucking happy ok
something something SOULMATES??? like dust shares part of his soul with cross or something, him and horror soul bonded at some point before they came along, I think reds left out of the soul juggling💀 ✌️ but he don’t need it lmao
anyways yeah I don’t actually know if any of that was accurate but I do know the ship is great even without ANY of that it’s just THATS WHAT MADE ME FALL IN LOVE WITH IT AND THEY ARE ALL SO EDGY AND HURT BUT SOFT FOR EACHOTHER and they have all this beef and drama but they work it out and are like “woah actually since when were you so lovely-??” And the pain of losing a lover and REUNITING AND THE DYNAMICS ARE INTERESTING AND THEY ARE ALL SO MESSED UP I LOVE THEM💔
oh yeah and I’m p sure speculative killermare is a thing while this is going on hehe

How's your Valentine's Day been, Gundham?
Tumblr media
You fiends. You dare presume the Overlord of Ice would be moved by such a foolish holiday?
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
...It's been quite nice. I've received many gifts today, from our partners and from Kutsuki-san.
Tumblr media
It's what you deserve.
Tumblr media
Hey. Thank you.
Tumblr media
Hm? F-For what?
Tumblr media
I've really wanted to spend more time with Gunny, but...well, y'know what's been happening lately.
Tumblr media
Don't we all?
Tumblr media
Plus, I...I've realized I've been kinda shutting myself in at Haji's house. I want to get out more and I want to meet new people, and I wanna spend time with the people I care about.
Tumblr media
It must be difficult, given everything you yourself have been through this past year as well.
Tumblr media
...More than you can imagine.
Tumblr media
But that's why I'm hanging in there, and from now on, I'm gonna try and do more of that. So thank you for spending time with him.
Tumblr media
Oh, no problem!
Tumblr media
Sorry I haven't been around much, but I really wanna spend more time with you, Gunny!
Tumblr media
I'd like that very much, Siren.
Tumblr media
Why is "Siren" his nickname for her?
Tumblr media
Y'know, like those beautiful singers in Greek myth? The ones who'd tempt ships to their deaths with their songs?
Tumblr media
...That's precisely why I'm asking.
Tumblr media
Tanaka-san's got that dark overlord persona, so from him, it's a compliment. Like how he calls his dog Cerberus or Sonia-san his Dark Queen.
Tumblr media
I...suppose I see?
Tumblr media
Has he given you a nickname as well?
Tumblr media
...I wish.

All right, let's go for a recent one--(your) Commander Shepard
Hohoh!
– Overall opinion of them Jazz Shepard here can hold so much trauma. So much being an asshole to get things done. But also so much kindness under all the scars and regrets. She grew on me hard and fast.
– Gender/sexuality headcanons Female-ish gender left Asexuality. Specifically sexually repulsed, why would you [REDACTED] when you can just cuddle and watch movies together?
– Favorite moment in canon
So far, it has to be talking down the one other surviving squad member of the Akuze disaster, Toombs. Not so that Cerberus bastard could survive, no, but because Toombs has done enough, suffered enough. So please, old friend, let her have this scum's blood on her hands and not yours.
– Favorite moment in a fanwork
I haven't written much myself, but I just adore any work that has any Shepard go off on the Illusive Man. Get outta here with your xenophobic human-supremacist shit, asshole. Your points don't justify the horrific shit your organization does.
– Favorite line, in canon or otherwise
Hmm. Don't really have one from cannon, but from what little I've written of her it's probably "Seeing as he was gnawing on one of those Turian breakfast jerky sticks, he looked more like a tired old man." In regards to Garrus in the mornings, wearing fuzzy F&F slippers.
– Characters I love seeing them interact with Tali, Garrus, Wrex, Grunt-- any of her alien friends, really. Not so much the humans as Shepard's known a lot of humans. Also that one asshole/in-your-face reporter on the Citadel. Always fun to see Shepard dance around her logic with high Paragon values, or be blunt and to the point with Renegade options.
– Last thing before sleeping headcanons
Depends on how bad the PTSD is acting up. If it's mild, she'll just have a glass of warm milk and pass the hell out. Any worse, and depending on if the Normandy is around a planet that has wild areas to drive like a lunatic or not, she'll either take the Mako/Hammerhead for an insane joyride to tire herself out completely (We're talking "How the fuck did you get this thing to flip 4 times mid-air and land on it's side only to spring back onto it's wheels one second later??? levels of driving. Crazy Taxi on steroids.) If they're in space, she'll grab one of her friends who also needs to sleep and drag them to her quarters, before curling around them like a very large cat and slowly drifting off as she listens to them ramble about anything.
– Sleeping habits headcanons
Sleeps like the dead until a single unexpected noise occurs, in which case she's on her feet with a pistol in the face (or face equivalent) of whatever made said noise.
– First thing after waking up headcanons
You ever get one of those mornings where everything is just a bit too sore to be comfortable? That's Shepard after being brought back from the dead. She lies still and bitches to herself until the pain stops, after which she does stretches to loosen up all the painful areas.
– Favorite locations headcanon
There's one spot on Earth she loves. The top of a mountain not-often climbed these days near San Francisco, where she grew up. Just goes up there and watches the city at times. Seeing as the mountain is abandoned as there was a ship crash there that still has to be cleaned up, she ends up sitting on a metal beam that's partially melted.
Aside from that one spot, she does like the Citadel's Persidium. Parks are nice. Space parks where you can see the curve of the station far above you are better cooler. If Shepard had 'fuck you' ammounts of money, she'd build a circular agri-station and just spend most of the day lying down in a patch of grass made for herself staring upwards. As is, sometimes when walking to an ambassador's office or to the Councilor's spire, she'll pause and just stare up with a wistful smile for a bit.

PJO TV Plans
So before even the first little HINT about the PJO Disney+ show, I was making plans for a Riordan-verse tv show.
So each season would have twenty episodes, with 8-9 episodes per book and in the middle, two episodes based on short stories or myths. This would allow for the actors, who would obviously be age-matching kids, to grow and still be the appropriate ages for each story.
As we would eventually run out of actual Riordan books, we would move on to Riordan Presents books. Here’s my plans! Let me know what you think and if/how i should clarify!
(Bold is Season, italic is middle/short story episodes, and strikethrough is book. I often show the extents of each episode through chapter titles or quotes found on the wiki plot summaries of each book. If using chapter title, that means it uses every chapter until the next mentioned one.)

Character Name: Kodelyn Shepard.
Full Name: Kodelyn Amara Shepard-Velasquez.
Nick Names: Kodee, Dee
Gender: Female
Age: 29 (ME1), 32 (ME3)
Birthday/year: April 11th, 2154
Sexuality: Bisexual
Marital Status: Single (Games), Married (Post-war)
Spouse: Married to Major Kaidan Alenko in 2187.
Hair: Coiled and kinky, though she has relaxed it a few times. In 2186, she cuts it.
Eyes: Brown + Amber. It the right lighting, they could appear a color of dim gold.
Origin: Was born in San Diego, California but raised on various space stations as a child.
Language: Kodelyn speaks fluent English, and is close to semi-fluent in Spanish. She knows bits and pieces of alien languages, though she’s closest to grasping the Quarian language.
Blood Type: B+
Height: Kodelyn is a firm 5″11.5.
Weight/Body Structure/Physical Faults: Kodelyn weighs 180 lbs. She would consider herself pretty muscular naturally. She has various scars, though the main ones from her Cerberus operation have cleared up since then. There’s one that criss-crosses her shoulder blades from the Blitz over Elysium.
Race/Species: Human.
Parents/Elders/Guardians: Her parents are Hannah Shepard and Reuel Shepard, who died a year after she was born. Her stepfather is Joaquin Velasquez, which she has a good relationship with.
Siblings: She has two siblings, Citlali Velasquez (who is six years younger than she is) and Mason Velasquez (who is nine years younger than she is).
Beliefs/Religion: Kodelyn is an atheist.
Career/Past Careers: She has had various postings over the years. Her first and most notable one was to Elysium during the Blitz, then as the Commander of the SR-1, de facto leader of the Cerberus Normandy SR-2 and finally proper Staff Commander of the Alliance SR-2.
Hobbies: Kodelyn isn’t particularly proficient in any one thing, but she does enjoy swimming -- once she learns how to. Living on a space station didn’t give her a lot of opportunity to do so, but it calms her down and soothes the pain if she can access one. Astrogation fascinates her as well. She also likes to build model ships to keep her hands busy.
Likes: Kodelyn likes the quiet. Like genuinely likes the quiet. There’s always a lot going on the galaxy, and sometimes she needs the time by herself to recharge and reassess a situation before she gets burnt out and her fuse gets shorter than it already is.
Loves: Kodelyn loves to spend time with her crew. It isn’t as efficient as being by herself, but sometimes she needs to remind herself she’s not alone in the galaxy, and that holding everything on her shoulders doesn’t need to be that way, not if she doesn’t want it to be.
Dislikes: A pet peeve of her’s is ‘feminized’ armor. She feels that goes without explanation why.
Loathes: She hates the Reapers, for sure. But she also hates the Illusive man and how warped his identity has become. The way he’s dragged everyone underneath him down under, she sees it as deeply despicable.
Fears: Kodelyn is terrified of empty space. Just being out there on her own, without a tether or mag boots is her biggest fear. After her death in ‘83, I don’t think anyone can dispute the claim.
Strengths: Just in general, she’s a strong person. There isn’t much she can’t blast or hit hard enough to get the job done, but diplomacy comes into play every once and a while. She’s well-liked by mostly everyone, even if it is begrudgingly done so.
Weakness: Biotics. One of her major weaknesses is the biotics Cerberus installed after she died. Considering just how experimental the make and model of her implant is, there isn’t much she can do but guess at her own strength -- and the consequences that would come from pushing herself too hard. Kodelyn tends to be a little too concerned about everyone else, and honestly, not enough about herself to the point of being actively self destructive.
Supernatural Powers & Abilities: Her biotics are the only abilities that haven’t been cultivated by a life of service. They’re still relatively new to her, so she has yet to be fully proficient in wielding them properly. However she’s a powerhouse on the battlefield when she does manage to use them, though not enough to rival that of Liara and Kaidan. She’ll stick to guns and grenades when she can.
Temperament: Kodelyn is generally, a nice person if not also firm. Her first thought is how to get the job done, and then how to save as many lives as possible. Everything else comes afterwards. But to friends, she’s a listening ear and always willing to lend a hand. Her moral code is something one simply can not shake no matter how hard they try, and she always errs on the side of caution in dangerous situations.
Crew Relationships:
kaidan alenko ➝ lover (2183-2186) husband (2187-) ashley williams ➝ friend (2183-2183) garrus vakarian ➝ best friend (2183-) urdnot wrex ➝ friend (2183-) tali’zorah vas normandy ➝ best friend (2183-) jeff moreau (joker)  ➝ best friend (2183-)

Literal Forms
Aesthetic is necessarily flawed
Can you still see beauty
When the limbs are stumps
When the skin turns to bumps
When the words are vile
Love is the sea not the isle
Pain the rain we walk in to Inch by mile
The seed is followed by the petal
It slips shapes like melted metal
The ego never loses power
The dirt is followed by the flower
Strength is soft
The will is stronger
Purity came to dance
And left a cherry bomber
We’re due to the disco
God only puts angels in San Francisco
If there’s hate to be had the fate is bad
I guard the gate between the inspired and the mad
Cerberus drips an oily coat
Notes to notes
Passions enter the ring with hopes
You only need one to have both
Life is an experience and trust an oath
The ship is not helmed by those that row
It takes form to be struck
The balance serves the wounded their luck
Why would Mephistopheles pack a pistol
Do not be so damned literal
The skin is armor
The hair warmth
The love inspires
The practice forms

fic notes: garrus’s crew
miscellaneous notes on garrus’s crew of the parentia that never made it into “down girl” part 1
1. lucret xamius, xo
mid-30s, high class tier class
from a long standing military family like the victuses; similar expectations of naval command passed down to her
like miranda in professionalism/workaholic sensibilities, more like ashley in temperament/personality
in retaliation for a strike her uncle carried out against the hegemony, batarian slavers attacked her family’s villa where her part of her extended family lived, and they kidnapped (young relatives) those who could be sold and killed those who couldn’t (elderly relatives). 7 were taken, 3 were killed. this occurred when she was about maybe 27.
before that point, she felt kind of pressured to uphold her family name by staying in the service, but after that she began taking her job more seriously and decided to stay past her mandatory service
was a little bitter about getting turned down to captain the parentia herself, but she respects garrus, so she doesn’t mind serving under him. is privately hoping that after he (presumably) becomes a spectre, she will be asked to helm the parentia permanently.
2. thilma, pilot
mid-20s, lower tier class
never picked a last name for her oops
shy and a little quiet until you get to know her.
she’s a little starstruck by shepard and garrus because she’s never been this close to war heroes before but once they get to know her she’s much more relaxed. mostly she just has a severe case of imposter’s syndrome which affects her ability to interact w the crew but she’s very easy to talk to one-on-one
like joker in that she was top of her class in pilot school. her drive in school was more out of her desire to escape a poor/unprotected colony, so it surprised her when she made top of her class, but she just puts her head down and works her ass off and only comes up for air once someone puts a hand on her shoulder and reminds her to eat
3. azymadus, cook
late 60s, lower tier class
never picked a first name for him lmao so i just hc all the crew calls him by his last name and only garrus and lucret know his first name
served in the first contact war, retired in the years since
didn’t give a shit about humans/was against their expansion/serving in government roles. after the battle of the citadel he started to come around, after commander shepard ‘died’ he felt a little more sympathetic. re-enlisted when the reapers hit palaven, killing most of his family and destroying his mandible. due to his age and health he wasn’t approved for active combat, so he became the cook on whatever ship would take him just so he could take his mind off of the deaths of his family
garrus knew him as the field chef on menae and thought he would enjoy being ‘put to use’ as it were after the war so he wouldn’t have to go back to palaven, so garrus requested him personally
4. stilx, gunnery officer
late 30s/early 40s, lower tier class
stilx is a nickname off of her much longer surname. hates her first name. you’ll never get it out of her; the one on her record is probably a fake anyway.
oh man she’s my favorite. she left a bad home life as soon as she turned legal. went off the grid to escape her mandatory service. removed her colony markings to disappear more thoroughly. joined a gang for several years, hated it, went on the run from them too. it was in the gang she learned how to take care of weapons; but she’s only seen active combat in omega-style gang wars. after that, for money she boxed for several years and entered mma-style underground fights, and eventually gained a name for herself under a fake name. unfortunately she was deep in the owner’s pockets, so years later when a bet went sour and her sponsor abandoned her, she ran back to the hierarchy for protection and in exchange agreed to live the rest of her “active years” (hierarchy law says this up until the common retirement age, until about 60/70-ish) in the service. so she sold out to survive in the end. never put her colony markings back on though.
has a huuuuuge thing for lucret but has kept it under wraps pretty successfully. the girl scout is three floors above her doing paperwork or whatever and she’s perfectly content down in the cargo bay cleaning the crew’s guns and out-drinking the guys in engineering. it only gets dicey when lucret comes down for her morning workouts around the same time stilx is checking the cargo and she has to resist her immense urge to challenge the ship’s xo to spar......
likes/respects shepard a lot. if shepard ever wanted to work out alone/without prying eyes, she’d clear the cargo bay for her with just a word. she understands what it’s like to be forced to work for somebody you hate just to survive, and she’s just glad a woman like that is still around.
5. yelfrex, tactics officer
late 20s, middle tier class
more like joker in personality. talented, excelled at tactics training in the navy, but is aimless/not very driven or inspired, doesn’t really know what to do with his life, kind of gets pulled around wherever life/his friends/his parents take him.
left the hierarchy early to join a civil rights group (that he got talked into by a friend) because he’s against the mandatory service law, but the reapers cut that short. he was part of garrus’s task force and lost both feet and hearing in his left ear when the first wave hit menae, and was out of commission for most of the rest of the war.
garrus found him after the war ended and asked if he wanted to serve on the parentia, hoping it would give him some stability/a sense of something to do as he recovered
looks up to garrus because of his sense of humor/capabilities/everything garrus did at such a young age. i have a feeling garrus gave him a bit of a pep talk when yel was having major career doubts post-war so that.
he’s kind of fascinated by shepard bc she joined cerberus and quit them and got arrested for war crimes and now she’s like this huge hero, like that doesn’t happen to everybody, haha that’s messed up but in a cool way, i wonder what she’s like lol? so that’s why he asks her so many invasive questions in that one scene in the comm room. he’s also trying to calm his own nerves/ease the tension in the room because the boss has never gone into a mission alone before
6. elaria, ground team
late 20s, middle tier class
garrus’s favorite to take in the field, though he tries not to let lucret know this
quiet, calm, professional, but a fucking beast in the field, very reliable, won’t hesitate to tell garrus if she thinks he’s making a bad call
not unlike shepard on the outside (sans the trauma shepard gone through at that age), but much less experienced obviously and a bit more easy going/humorous once you talk to her
7. quernus, chief engineer & technician
early 30s, lower tier class
left the service early (unauthorized) and then
was kind of a ‘plan c’ choice for the crew because the first few candidates were unavailable, and he knows it so he’s determined to prove himself by taking his job super seriously and never joking around, proving he deserves to be there, etc
therefore doesn’t take yelfrex’s joking around very well -- quernus has a sense of humor, he just doesn’t mesh well with yel. personality clashes, plus a bit of resentment on quernus’s side because yel is a higher tier than him and knows he has more protection in his position
has a crush on elaria but due to their experience difference/desire to he doesn’t think it’s professional to bring up
and that’s all i can think of for now

Paw Prints
Surprise @cthulu-sun 🎉
Summary- “No princess, I don’t have my mark or do think I’ll ever get it. I don’t believe in that whole soulmate mumble jumble.” Kyoutani said to the child in his lap.
“Why? Daddy and Papa have their pretty marks.”
“Well, I just don’t. Doesn’t make any sense to me to be honest. I mean, you go your whole life wondering what will trigger that mark and then you have to find them. I’d be lucky if I found someone since everyone likes to call me the hell hound.”
I took part of the @fantasyhaikyuuexchange this year and SO HAPPY I took part. This was a lot of fun and especially getting assigned a creature that had to be part of the piece. And let me tell you, the moment I saw what creature I got, I knew who I wanted to write (because I wasn’t given a certain ships) and which of the prompts I want to write.
My creature was a cerberus 🐶🐶🐶
So I hope you enjoy because this was a lot of fun and also a challenge to write.
Enjoy!

“Do you ever slow down?” Watching as a small child ran around him, while giggling her little head off, Kyotani could feel his head spinning. How did he get talked into babysitting this hyperactive child, which didn’t seem to have an off button. “Oi can you stop running around? You’re making my head spin.”
The child stopped and looked right at her uncle, before giggling again. “It’s not spinnin’! You not an owl, Uncle Mad Dog-Chan!”
“I told you my name isn’t Mad Dog-Chan. I told you to call me Uncle Ken because you’re little four-year-old brain can’t handle Kentarou.” Kyotani told her while crossing his arms.
“But Uncle Mad Dog-Chan is more fun to say then Uncle Ken!” She pouted while putting her hands on her hips.
“Of course it is.” He rolled his eyes. Of course saying a nickname he’s had since forever would be more fun to say compared to his real name, according to a four-year-old. Of course! But what could Kyotani do? This was his little niece and he would do anything to protect her. Especially since she’s half of her parents, one being a witch and the other being a fellow shapeshifter.
Kyotani was a shapeshifter and his niece’s father was his best friend, Iwaizumi Hajime. His niece hadn’t inherited many features from Iwaizumi, but she had his dark brown eyes that Kyotani swore sometimes were actually black! Guess that was her witch side showing at times.
“Uncle Mad Dog-Chan? Do you have your pretty mark yet?” She asked while coming up to him and looking at his wrists, but only to be disappointed when she saw both his wrists were blank. The little girl pouted as Kyotani patted her head, before sitting down and setting her in his lap.
“No princess, I don’t have my mark or do think I’ll ever get it. I don’t believe in that whole soulmate mumble jumble.” He spoke as the child looked up and tilted her head to the side.
“Why? Daddy and Papa have their pretty marks.”
“Well, I just don’t. Doesn’t make any sense to me to be honest. I mean, you go your whole life wondering what will trigger that mark and then you have to find them. I’d be lucky if I found someone since everyone likes to call me the hell hound.” He chuckled.
“But your mark will come when you find them, Uncle Mad Dog-Chan! Daddy and Papa didn’t find each other for a super long time. And when you do, you will be happy like Daddy and Papa!” She smiled up at her uncle.
“We’ll see Princess. But until that person comes along, I’ve got you to give me all the headaches in the world.” He smirked while poking her nose.
“And the only one!”
“Sorry, I’m late!” A voice called out as the two heard the door opening.
“DADDY!” The child exclaimed as she jumped down from Kyotani’s lap and rushed to Iwaizumi. The father opened his arms to hug his daughter while the shapeshifter stood up from the ground.
“Oh there’s my princess! Were you good for Uncle Ken?” Iwaizumi asked as she nodded.
“She acted like a sassy brat, who won’t stop calling me Uncle Mad Dog-Chan.” Kyotani responded as Iwaizumi looked at the little girl in his arms.
“So,” The shapeshifter looked toward his friend. “The usual?”
“Yeah, the usual.” The blond rolled his eyes, though he couldn’t help, but chuckle.
“Thanks again for picking her up from school. I wasn’t expecting to get a new patient at the last minute and Tooru won’t be off for another hour or so.” Iwaizumi thanked while looking at his watch.
“You know I don’t mind watching this brat.”
“I’m not a brat! You the brat!”
“Keep telling yourself that kiddo.” Kyotani smirked as he patted Iwaizumi’s shoulder. “I”m off to the shelter now. Need to go tame my family.”
“Don’t get bitten like last time!” Iwaizumi called back as Kyotani waved them off.
“Uncle Mad Dog-Chan’s bite is harder than the doggies at the shelter, Daddy!” She exclaimed as Iwaizumi chuckled.
“I believe so princess, because I’ve seen it. So how about you tell me what happened at school today?”
“THE HELLHOUNDS HAVE GOTTEN LOOSE!” Turning his attention away from a new family of wolves, Kyotani perked up and groaned. Why is it that the hellhounds were always escaping from their cages? Kyoutani never understood and probably never will in the future.
“Shit not again.” He cussed under his breath as a centaur rushed up to the shapeshifter.
“Oi Kyotani! The hellhounds-”
“I’ve got this.” The shapeshifter cut the centaur off as he shifted into a hellhound to rush to tame them. He was the only one how could calm the hounds down and get them back into their yard.
The hellhounds weren’t hard to find since they were the only big, black, scary-looking dogs with glowing red eyes. The hounds shifted around, as if they were looking for something or someone. Kyoutani shook his head as he returned back to his human self and crossed his arms, whistling to catch their attention.
“Taketora, Ryuunosuke, Yasushi. What have I said about escaping from your damn cages? You scare people when you come out without your-”
The hellhounds growled at the shapeshifter, who rolled his eyes.
“Rude.”
The hound nearest to him, Ryuunosuke, barked at him. Oh boy, they were aggressive today. The hounds began to make their way toward Kyoutani, watching him closely. Three against one, this wasn’t his first time dealing with them. But even as experienced as he was, he had to be careful (they weren’t called hellhounds for nothing).
“Alright, we can do this one of two ways. You three know the drill. You can either stay and sit and I can lead you back to your cage. Or we have to do it the hard way. Pick your battle, boys.” But he knew they would go the hard way.
He watched as the one farthest from him, Yasushi, got into a pounce position. Kyoutani smirked as he looked at the one in front of him, Taketora.
“You three don’t ever learn, do you?”
Yasushi pounced and Kyoutani jumped away, shifting into a hellhound and took a few steps back as the hounds ganged up against him.
‘Okay, this is one against three. Again.’ Kyoutani thought as he eyed them all carefully. The three hounds didn’t move for awhile, perfect! Right on schedule! Kyoutani began to sway from side to side, letting them think he was going to make a break either from the left or the right. Yasushi and Ryuunosuke took the sides, leaving two potential spots opened.
‘They never learn.’
Next thing the hounds knew, Kyoutani jumped over them and barked at them, shouting something very insulting to them (actually it didn’t take much to get them angry). The hellhounds charged toward Kyoutani as he raced toward their cage. If Kyoutani would be in his human form and some idiot would nearby, they would see the smirk on his face as the hounds chased him.
Kyoutani saw their cage coming up, he quickly scanned to see if he could see any opening that the hounds created. The only opening he saw was the cage door, of course. It must have been a new person, they probably didn’t watch them carefully enough or didn’t lock the door correctly. Here we went again.
The shapeshifter rushed into the cage, the hounds following him without even realizing where they were going. They stopped when they realized he wasn’t in site, where the hell was he? Unaware to them, Kyoutani had jumped onto the fence and watched as they went further into their cage. Waiting until they were far enough away from the exit, so that they wouldn’t run and escape again.
The hounds looked carefully around their cage, where did that other hound go? They all perked up when they heard the sound of their cage rattling. All of them spun around to see Kyoutani standing in front of the exit, signing for them to come after him. Yasushi barked at him before the three charged after him. Kyoutani turned around and slammed the door shut, quickly turning back into his human form and properly locking the door. The hounds barked their heads off while jumping up and down, trying to escape again!
“We go through this every single time and every single time you three fall for it.” Kyoutani scolded as he leaned against the fence. “When are you three going to learn?”
“We can always count on you, Kyoutani-san!” A voice came as the shapeshifter turned around to see the owner of the shelter coming up. “We can always trust you to get those hellhounds-”
“Tell the idiot, who didn’t watch these beasts to watch them or double check the locks. I’m not always going to be here when they get out.” Kyoutani cut off as he stared at Taketora, the hound barked at him and Kyoutani barked back.
“Uh yes of course. I’ll make sure of that.” The owner responded as the shapeshifter stuck his hand through the fence and patted Ryuunosuke’s head.
“Stop being a brat and go take a nap.”
“Kyoutani-san, we received a cerberus mother late last night, that we would like for you to look at and see if you get her comfortable.” The owner spoke up as Kyoutani turned around.
“Her pups with her?” He asked as the owner shook his head.
“She hasn’t had them yet. But she’s a nervous one.” The owner spoke as he lead the shapeshifter toward the cerberus. Kyoutani looked at the hellhounds one more time, before following the owner. Eh, a nice change and they rarely get cerberus so he took this moment to check out the cerberus.
“She’s a beauty.” Kyoutani commented as they walked up to the cage where the mother was being held. The cerberus, currently asleep, laid on top of a blanket and Kyoutani could see her bump. “What are the head’s names?”
“Kiyoko, Hana and Yui.” The owner said as Kyoutani nodded. The shapeshifter didn’t said a word as he entered the cage, walking up to the sleeping Mother. He looked over her before laying a hand on one of the head’s noses.
“Hey there beautiful, how are you adjusting to your new home?” Kyoutani asked in a whisper to her. The heads opened one eye and the middle one leaned into Kyoutani’s hand. “I know, girl. It’ll take time, hang in there. Before you know it, you’ll have someone else to keep you company.”
The cerberus closed her eyes while nuzzling against Kyoutani’s head. He chuckled while petting her head. “Sweet girl. You just want to sleep, get as much as you can. That pup will be keeping you up at night.”
“You really know how to calm down a nervous mother, don’t you?” The owner chuckled as Kyoutani came back out while shrugging.
“Guess so. But she would much rather sleep than interact with us. Leave her be, she’s getting all the rest she needs before the pup arrives.” Kyoutani responded as he headed toward the exist. “I’m finished for the day. Tell the idiots not to bother the hellhounds.”
If Kyoutani could throw his alarm clock across the room to shut it off, he would. But if he did that, that meant he would be getting a new phone every single day. So he groaned when the alarm went off at seven that morning, sitting up and checking his notifications that he received throughout the night; not once noticing the new mark on his wrist. All day, it never caught his attention or did anyone bring it to his attention.
That was until he met up with Iwaizumi for lunch.
“Uncle Mad-Dog Chan!! You got your pretty mark!” His niece exclaimed when she noticed the mark. Kyoutani stopped eating and looked at her, raising an eyebrow in the process. What is she talking about?
“What are you talking about?” He asked while she pointed at her wrist.
“You have your pretty mark! It’s paws!” She explained as Kyoutani looked at both of his wrists to see something on his right wrist: three dog prints. Iwaizumi looked over and chuckled, leaning against his chair.
“Well, well, well. Someone finally has gotten their soulmate mark.”
“Don’t be stupid. I must have gotten drunk last night and got a tattoo.” Kyoutani rolled his eyes, thinking back on what had happened after he left the shelter. Yeah, that had to be it! He must have met up with some friends from high school at a bar and they got so drunk they decided to get tattoos!
“No, that’s clearly a soulmate mark, Ken.” Iwaizumi responded as he took a sip of his water.
“It’s a tattoo.”
“Sure it is.” Iwaizumi wasn’t buying it and by looking at his niece, she wasn’t buying it either.
“Okay yeah, I guess I have my mark now. But so what? How do I find them and how do I know that they actually want to be with me?” He asked while leaning back against his chair and crossing his arms.
“Do you remember when I first met Tooru?” Iwaizumi asked as he picked up his daughter and placed her in his lap, handing her a piece of bread.
“Yeah. Why?” The blond asked with a raised eyebrow. What did this have to do with anything?
“Remember what my first impression of him was?”
“Didn’t you say he pissed you off because how flirty he was?” Kyoutani asked.
Iwaizumi chuckled, but nodded. “That and how childish he got at times, his smug attitude and just how disgusting his personality was at first. I really thought it was a mistake that this guy is my soulmate. But then I got to know him, I saw a different side to him and how hardworking he truly is. When he has his mind set on something, he’s dedicated on finishing it and even if it isn’t turning out the way he wants, he’ll finish it.”
“And now, here we are. Ten years later, we’re married and have this little princess.” Iwaizumi finished while kissing the top of his daughter’s head.
“What I mean is that things will be rocky in the beginning, but it will eventually smooth out as time goes on and you two get to know each other more.”
“But I need to find them first to even know if that’s true. How the hell do I find them?” Kyoutani asked as Iwaizumi chuckled, watching as their main course arrived.
“It’s funny how fate works sometimes.”
Kyoutani’s marked had appeared over three months ago and in those three months, he hadn’t found his soulmate yet. He knew it would be hard to find them, billions of people in the world and out of those billion one was his soulmate. Were they in Japan or were they somewhere else, Europe maybe? What did they do for a living or were they still in college? Kyoutani grumbled, he didn’t expect to care this much about his soulmate. Up until he got his mark, he had been the type of person that didn’t care about his mark or finding a soulmate. Let alone believing this was true.
But now his mind wandered off into lala land, wondering what they were like.
It was early morning and he had just arrived to the park for a morning jog before work. This was the only time of day he could actually think without the thought of his soulmate coming up. He stretched while scanning the park, not many people were there. Just a few other joggers and a couple walking their dog.
‘Here’s to a good run.’ He thought as he began his jog.
It was a clear morning and the air was slightly chilly, it was supposed to be warm this afternoon, which was why he was doing his jog now instead of later. It was all going good, he was keeping up with his pace and with his breathing. He passed another jogger and the moment that happened, his mark began to burn. It was not enough for him to stop his jog, but enough to notice it. He narrowed his eyes and looked at his wrist. He looked behind him, but didn’t see the jogger anymore.
‘Don’t tell me I just passed them.’ He would try and go after them, but he hadn’t gotten a chance to look at the jogger that passed him.
Damnit!
‘It’s funny how fate works sometimes.’ Iwaizumi’s words echoed in his head at that moment. Kyoutani grumbled as he decided to end his jog early. He started heading back home, feeling a tad bit down that he missed out of meeting his soulmate.
Well now he knows one thing about them, they also jogged.
The pain in his wrist went away, but Kyoutani remembers how it felt like. It was dull, kind of like running into a wall. It hurt a little, but the pain wasn’t terrible. It had been over two months since he had last felt the pain, two more months he had wondered when he would run into his soulmate again. He had gone out jogging at different times to try and find them again, but the pain never returned with each jogger he passed. After a month of trying that he, he questioned if the pain thing was actually because he ran into the guy and pain had to do nothing with the mark.
He sighed when he thought about that, would he ever find them? To get his mind off of this, he headed to the shelter to check on how things were going. Maybe even take the hellhounds out for a run if they weren’t being brats.
“You’re offering classes now?”
“Yes! Obedience classes for owners and their pets.” The owner responded. That didn’t sound like a bad idea.
“Does that include the three brat hounds?” Kyoutani asked as the owner shook his head.
“Sadly no.”
“They could use a lesson or two...or seven.”
“How about you sit in on the first lesson. There’s one person who has a cerberus!” The owner exclaimed as Kyoutani stopped walking. Wait, why did he stop walking?
“Uh yeah I guess I can.” Kyoutani answered while heading into the direction of the class. His legs were moving on their own. What the hell was going on?
“Wonderful! Oh and you know where the room is!” The owner cheered as he followed. They entered the room, well it was actually outside, and there was a group of owners and their pets. Kyoutani spotted the cerberus right away because well, it was a bit hard not to notice the three headed dog that towered over all the other pets. Without realizing it, Kyoutani started walking toward the dog.
The cerberus was asleep, but perked up when they heard Kyoutani walking over. The cerberus sat up and watched as the shiftshaper walk over to them.
“What’s wrong, boys?” Kyoutani heard what he assumed is the owner. The head farthest away turned away from him and to his owner, nudging him to come out. “Alright, alright.”
Appearing from behind the three headed dog was a...kitsune? What was a fox doing with a cerberus? The kitsune noticed Kyoutani and tilted his head to the side.
“Can I help you?”
“Uh I just noticed your cerberus and just wanted to see them.” ‘Why is my heart racing all of a sudden?’ Kyoutani wondered as the fox smiled and patted the middle one’s nose.
“Yeah, they’re a show stopper. People are always stopping me to ask questions about them and what their names are. How different are their personalities and all that jazz.”
“The shelter recently got a cerberus mother not too long ago.” Kyoutani added.
“I saw. She’s beautiful and caught their attention.” He giggled. “I hope someone will take care of her and her future pup.”
“Yeah.” Kyoutani agreed, looking away to try and hide the blush that was visible on his face. Why does this guy have to be so handsome? “Uh what are their names?”
“The one near you is Akira, the middle is Yuutarou and this one is Shinji.” Kyoutani nodded as he watched the fox reached to rub Yuutarou’s noise.
His eyes widened when he saw the fox’s left wrist. A mark of three paw prints that looked identical to Kyoutani’s. This was his soulmate, now the three paw prints made sense. One print representing each head of the cerberus. Now that he thought about it, his mark appeared right after the mother cerberus came into the shelter.
“Um is everything alright?” The fox asked after noticing the shocked expression on Kyoutani’s face.
“Mark.” Kyoutani managed to get out. The fox looked at his mark and then to the shapeshifter.
“Yeah um...it’s my soulmate mark. I’ve been-”
“I have the same one.” Kyoutani blurted out as he held out his wrist, showing his mark. The fox looked at him before back at his mark and then back at Kyoutani.
“You’re my...soulmate?” He asked as the blond nodded. Kyoutani couldn’t find the words to express how he was feeling. Five months after his mark had appeared, his soulmate was right in front of him.
“Well uh,” The fox started before holding his hand out to him. “Guess we should introduce ourselves. I’m Yahaba Shigeru.”
“Kyoutani Kentarou.” He extended his hand out and grasped Yahaba, noticing how soft his hands were. “Your hands are soft.”
“Huh? Oh um thank you.” Yahaba thanked with a small blush crossing his cheeks. The cerberus noticed and looked at Kyoutani, more specifically Yuutarou and Shinji while Akira just blinked. The two heads growled at the blond.
“Yuutarou! Shinji! Don’t you dare-” But Yahaba was cut off when Kyoutani growled back. “...Growl at him.”
“I’m a shapeshifter and I tend to shift into a hellhound.” The blond answered.
“Oh, I see.” Well Yahaba wasn’t expecting that.
“Alright so let’s get started with today’s class!” The teacher called out while clapping her hands and going up to the front of the class.
“Talk after the class?” Kyoutani asked as Yahaba nodded.
“Yes, I would like that.”
“Though can you answer this quick question?”
“Sure.”
“Why does a fox-”
“Kitsune.” He corrected.
“R-Right. Um what does a kitsune like you have a three headed dog like this guy?” Kyoutani asked. The three headed dog perked up and growled at him, but Yahaba on the other hand started to laugh.
Wow, what a cute laugh he had.
“You know, you’re the first person to ever ask me that.” Yahaba responded as he calmed down. “And why I have a cerberus? Well you could say they found me first.”
“Gotcha. Um do you want to go out to the park afterwards? Get to know each other more?” Kyoutani suggested.
“I like that idea. See you after class.” Kyoutani smiled as he looked up at his cerberus. “Alright boys, sit!”
As Kyoutani walked away, he could feel his mark burn. But not in a painful or bad way, but a pleasant way.

Re-watching Joker Game: Ep 7 Code Name: Cerberus
So, as I proposed a re-watching, here I go continuing on doing the re-watching. Hopefully someone else will join! ^_-
Also, hopefully there’s someone out there that read all this stuff… as I know it’s pretty long… shame on me for analyzing things too in deep…
Mind you, what follows are my ramblings over Ep 7, comprehensive of my impression on how the frames were structured and so on with some occasional reference to the other Joker Game media.
Also, for personal comfort, I’ll use the characters’ names even if the anime hasn’t stated them yet. In short, as this is a re-watching and not a first watching, you’ll also get a telling that’s mixed with my knowledge of the future. Consider yourself warned.
Last but not least, many apologies for posting this so late but real life kept me rather busy this month…
And now, let’s start.
So yes, like in the previous episode I starts with the preview for this episode that was in Ep 6.
Now, we’re again in whatever place the previews take place.
Anyway in this preview we’ve Amari and Hatano.
Amari is folding a paper as he asks if there wasn’t an artist, a painter to be specific, who compared life to an ocean voyage.
Hatano answers quoting something “You start rowing from a small stream, enjoy the peaceful scenery, endure the wind, survive the storms,” while Amari keeps on folding the paper until he has obtained a boat. Then Amari finishes the quote for Hatano, “And flow into the ocean. What awaits beyond is boundless freedom,” before blowing on the ship causing it to fly away from his hand.
Sorry but I wasn’t able to find the painter who said the quote Hatano and Amari are referencing. If someone has more info I would love to hear them.
The preview is a reference to how the next episode will take place on a boat… but it can be seen also as a reference to how Amari will technically leave D Agency and move to Hawaii to take care of little Emma… because that’s what truly happened in the end even though the whole fandom, Miwa Shiro included, prefers to think he came back to D Agency with Emma. But well, we love Amari and we don’t want to lose him.
This is sadly the only interaction we see in the Joker Game anime between Amari and Hatano (in the manga they interact a little more).
And now let’s dig into the episode.
The episode opens up in a rather dramatic way.
As ‘Tōryaku’ [韜略 River] play in the background the scene opens showing us that there’s fire and people tied in the middle of it. Some of them seem dead already. One though is on his knees, panting hard, blood dripping from his side. There’s someone in front of him and it’s probably that someone who orders to plant explosives in the ship’s hold, twice the standard amount.
Tumblr media
The wounded guy raises his head at this, eyes widening in shock.
Tumblr media
Next we see is that the one speaking is a German, clearly recognizable due to the iron cross he’s wearing.
Tumblr media
The one next to him asks about what to do in regards to the ship’s crew. We see that there are people still alive, closed in the engine room of what is likely a boat, banging on a door and asking to be left out…
Tumblr media
…and soldiers outside the door keeping their arms raised against it so as to make sure they won’t manage to come out.
Anyway the German in charge comments that, as their information said, they had the instructions so they won’t let evidence behind, implying they would kill everyone. As the panting guy screams him to stop he raises his gun with a grin and, as the screen becomes black we hear a shoot, a clear hint that the panting guy was killed.
Tumblr media
Now… Ep 7 has an awesome colouring, one of the best through JG. The fire is beautifully bright and I love how the room gets an orange tinge due to it.
But hum… back to the rest. This bit lasted exactly 32 seconds but it had a high dramatic value. At first we don’t really see the Germans, we’re just shown their victims. The bound people who’re either dead or unconscious, the bleeding sailor on his knees (to make things simpler I’ll tell you he’s Raymond Grane, even if we’ll discover this much, much later), the horror on his face as the German imply they’ll kill everyone, the crew begging to be left free.
We catch glimpses of German soldiers to show us that they’re actually in control of all those lives. The soldier who asks about the crew when they’re about to blow up the ship, the soldiers who’re guarding the door so the crew can’t escape. They’re the ones in power… but they’re actually not really acting, they’re just there, like objects. While what they’re doing is cruel and horrible… they don’t seem to either get pleasure or displeasure doing it. The question about what to do with the crew is said in a neutral tone, as some sort of clarification on the orders. In short, they’re represented as people who’s just there to obey orders regardless.
The one who’s really in power is the German officer… and that one came clearly out as a jerk.
It’s meaningful how his face isn’t showed until he gets the chance to express what sort of jerk he is.
We know he ordered to use twice the standard amount of explosive so as to make sure the ship will blow up… but we can assume he too is being a puppet obeying to orders. When asked about the crew… he sounds almost concerned… but it’s actually a mocking tone. When we finally see his face we hear him ordering what to do in regard to the crew. His order implies they all have to die and, once he gives it, he grins.
Tumblr media
He’s not doing this in the impersonal manner of someone following orders. He’s enjoying it. He also grins again when he shoots at Raymond.
Tumblr media
He has a very small role with few sentences, but it’s clear it’s not a good guy.
While JG often paints the Germans as jerks, in this case this is an interesting choice because that German was actually not being the ‘real cause’ due to which everyone died. It’ll turn out it’s McCloud, an Englishman like them, Raymond’s friend, who sold them out to get information.
Those people’s lives to him weren’t that important. So, even if the German is a jerk for enjoying what he’s doing… how much horrible McCloud is at backstabbing those people knowing the Germans would have very likely killed them all? Civilians, one of whom his friend?
It helps to make more understandable why Synthia’s hate, who should have been directed to the Germans who were actually the ones who physically killed her husband, actually turned on McCloud, the family friend who pretended to share her pain when, in truth, he sent her husband to death.
It’s 1940, they’re at war, the Germans are enemies from which they shouldn’t expect mercy… but McCloud was an Englishman and a friend. And caused Raymond’s death just the same. And no, it wasn’t to save English lives. It was so that he would look cooler. But let’s go back to the story.
Oh, not too sure if someone is interested but when the German guy raised his arm we could see his rank insignia and they label him as a Oberleutnant, the highest lieutenant officer rank in the armed forces of Germany. Among the voice actors he’s just labeled asドイツ海軍士官 (Doitsu kaigun shikan) which means “German Navy Officer”. No reference to his ranking is made. Personally I was expecting him to have a higher ranking (he even seems older than Bauer or Sakuma) but maybe it’s just me.
BTW Raymond Grane, according to the ranking on his hat and sleeve is a first mate (or chief officer or chief mate, do your pick, all those names work). Amari too will confirm this, later on.
‘Kikan’ [機関 Agency] starts and we gets Amari telling us the usual shortened version of the explanation of what D Agency is.
Then this ends and we get…
…the opening. Which is the same as usual. Amari is the forth spy that appears in it and we see him smoking and then smiling at the camera. If he does something at the end of it… well, I didn’t realize it (maybe he’s the one who smiles? I’m not sure though…).
Anyway the opening ends and we resume with ‘Joker Game’.
‘Yōkō’ [陽光 Sunshine] begins to play and we start… with a big cruiser boat, the Tokimaru (朱鷺丸).
Tumblr media
The ship is currently sailing close enough to see some islands (which will turn out to be the Hawaii) so the passengers are on the bridge watching them. The ship’s captain confirms that they’re the Hawaii and that they should be docking in Honululu in three hours.
The contrast with what happened on another ship in the scene prior to the opening is staggering and it’s even increased by colours. While, due to the fire, the previous scene had a marked yellow, orange and red tinge, here the predominant colour are the blue of the sky and the sea and the white of the boat and of the sailors’ clothes, of the deckchairs and, of the clothes of someone who’s sitting on a deckchair (though, to be honest, they’ve a pale yellow and not a perfect white).
Tumblr media
Anyway the first mate goes and ask that person if he’s not going to enjoy the view like the others. We can’t see that person face at first then he moves and… well, hello Amari!
Amari is dressed quite differently from usual and not because he’s not wearing his usual grey suit. In fact, we can see that instead than a tie he has a bow tie and instead than a fedora he has a pork pie hat, braces instead than a belt and no waistcoast. Maybe he’s meant to look dressed with an American flair since the ship is traveling from San Francisco to Japan (with a stop to Hawaii)?
Tumblr media
Oh well, it’s not really a problem.
Amari claims he’s a little preoccupied… and then we’re shown what is tormenting him. A crossword puzzle. Before wondering if Amari is that obsessed with crossword puzzles or prone to worry over minor things give him a moment.
He starts asking help to the sailor in order to end the crossword puzzle... and that’s our clue. The D Agency boys were so very knowledgeable that it’s weird that Amari would be stumped on a crossword puzzle… for answers that a normal sailor can give him.
Well, to be honest the sailor can only give him an answer as he gets stumped as well at the next word. Anyway, as the two of them are talking, they hear a woman screaming “No! Stop! Stay!” in English, our clue that she’s English.
As the woman screams we don’t see her face, just her mouth…
Tumblr media
…and then we’re shown the shadow of a small dog, a Scottish terrier, running in between the legs of the passengers.
Tumblr media
The dog then turns a corner and appears close to where Amari and the First Mate are and runs past them and away from a woman, holding a child in her arms and now leaning against a wall.
Though the woman is far from Amari and the First Mate and much closer to the other passengers, none of them move to check on her, just Amari and the First Mate… which is, in my opinion, a bit weak. Amari is the first to reach for her and ask her what’s wrong. She claims a dog ran out of nowhere and startled her daughter, then put the little girl down. Now… maybe it’s a subbing problem but the one who seemed freaked out was the mother, not the little girl which seems weird.
Sure, later it’ll turn out the woman is actually lying but the lie is pitiful in itself as it would have worked better if she had said the dog startled HER.
Anyway, Amari bend down and asks the little girl to come with him. In present time it would be very weird for a stranger to do this but it seems back then it wasn’t a big deal. The little girl though is shy and moves closer to her mother. At this Amari whistles and causes dolphins to start jumping out of the water.
Tumblr media
Now… I wonder if this is possible as dolphins aren’t trained dogs but well, let’s let this slide.
‘Sakura haru’ [桜春 Spring of cherry blossoms] starts playing as the little girl, Emma, is delighted that dolphin have appeared. This time Amari asks her if she feels like going to see the dolphins together and she accepts, allowing him to pick her up. Amari winks at the mother, who smiles at him and, after turning to the first mate likely hinting at how he entrusts the mother to him, carries the little girl to see the dolphins asking her what’s her name, to which she replies ‘Emma’.
Yeah, as many pointed out, in present time the whole thing feels weird as mothers shouldn’t entrust their little daughters to random strangers but whose were other times.
The mother seems to feel sick again (as I’ve said before either the subs messed up or the whole my daughter was startled doesn’t really work well as she’s the one who basically is feeling sick…) so the first mate asks her if she would like to return to her room, to which she replies she’ll be fine if she’ll rest a bit.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile Emma is counting the dolphins jumping out of the water…
Tumblr media
…and it’s surprised when, after counting five, she can’t see them anymore so she asks Amari where they went… to which he offers back to their home… which… hum again is a bit weak as he could have whistled again and make them appear again, if it’s that what he did the first time. Emma wants then to know where’s their house, to which he has no answer.
Overall it’s a very pretty scene.
Emma’s mother, Synthia, joins them, thanks Amari, claims she feels better and gets Emma back. Emma is happy to go in her mother’s arms…
Tumblr media
…and, other her mother’s prompting, thanks Amari, who replied it was a pleasure.
Now… in the book Emma was around 2. In the anime she looks older, around 4, and she can walk, but she will be mostly carried around in people’s arms which is a bit weird.
Still, Emma comes out as a loveable and cute child.
It’s also worth to note that Ep 7 is possibly the most visually pretty episode of Joker Game, both in terms of colours, composition of the images and effects.
I’ve mentioned how beautiful it was the fire in the intro scene but the sea is also awesome, both when we see the dolphins underwater, in which they use a wonderful effect to express the water refraction…
Tumblr media
…or when it’s just in the background with the waves moving on its surface.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The characters are usually not static, which further proves the care used to animate this. Overall it’s definitely one of the most visually nice to watch if not the nicest.
We’re shown the ship continuing on its cruise, but it’s just a quick glance to help us smoothly accept the transition from a scene to the other. The Tokimaru won’t definitely be shown as often and with the same care as the Asia Express. On a sidenote the Tokumaru very likely is a fictional ship based on the Japanese ocean liners owned by Nippon Yusen Kaisha. Although the anime changed things a little, in the novel, this story was partially based on something that happened to the Asamamaru, so, very likely, the Asamamaru is the model for the Tokimaru.
However, since the whole thing was a diplomatic incident and a complex one, the anime preferred to change things a little and have a fictional boat (also the incident took place on January so, if they wanted this episode to take place in summer, they had to change things).
Anyway, due to all this, JG likely didn’t feel like the Tokimaru deserved the same attention that Asia Express got.
Back to the story and to Amari who tries to get back to his crossword puzzle to find a man peering at it curiously.
Tumblr media
The man explains he was passing by and couldn’t help but be attracted by it. It’s very nice how they handled his body language.
Anyway he introduces himself as Jeffrey Morgan, someone who runs a small trading company in San Francisco. Amari presents himself as Osamu Utsumi, a Japanese engineer. As he’s giving out a fake name it’s clear that Amari is on mission.
Morgan admits he can’t walk away from a crossword puzzle…
Tumblr media
…and Amari claims it’s perfect as ‘he’d like to borrow his knowledge for a bit’. It’s not so hard to guess Amari isn’t just as obsessed with crossword puzzles but he has ulterior motives for his invitation.
Anyway the two sits down.
The next we see as two glasses filled with what looks like sparkling white wine.
Tumblr media
They’re relevant but the problem is ‘how had they gotten there?’. The two had apparently just sat down and yet there’s already wine served for them… which wasn’t there moments before, when they met (just look at the previous pictures and you’ll see no glasses on the table) and the one in the glasses is not just ordinary wine… not mentioning they won’t touch it for a while so they clearly hadn’t ordered it because they were thirsthy.
This is fundamentally the weakest point of all the episode… but we’ll discuss about it later on. Amari in the meantime is reading clues while Morgan is giving him the answers.
Tumblr media
Amari then reads a definition “Variations, six letters,” and if we pay attention to his expression it’s not casual anymore and his eyes are kept in the shadows even if they’re looking at Morgan.
Tumblr media
Even if it’s not overly obvious it’s a visual clue Amari is up on something. The other reacts with surprise at the definition then gives the answer. ‘Enigma’. Due to Amari’s confusion, Morgan explains that Enigma is also the name of one of composer Elgar’s masterpieces. Turns out that in the piece there are various still unsolved riddles and this helps Amari to switch the discussion on another unsolvable mystery, the encryptions made with the Enigma machine Germans are using.
Amari starts to sing praises of the Enigma machine and Morgan also adds some info about how the German Army improved it. Amari then claims that the movements of the German U-boats that had Enigma-encrypted orders would be completely unpredictable and this pushes Morgan to challenge that statement claiming that any form of encryption can be broken as long as one has a little hint.
Morgan is thinking that, if they were to have a message whose text they know, encrypted with an Enigma machine, comparing the two would give them clues… which is basically how the Rosetta Stone helped people to decrypt hieroglyphic scripts.
At this point Amari reveals his true face. He praises Morgan for being a really smart man in an amused tone then explains that since the Japanese Navy is also developing encryption machines based on the Enigma technology…
Tumblr media
…they can’t let him slip inside Japan by pretending to be an American.
Please, note this as well. Amari says that Jeffrey Mordan is claiming to be American. It’ll get relevant later on.
Morgan is surprised, Amari rolls the newspaper and claims Morgan’s true name is Louis McCloud, whose codename in his country intelligence agency is “The Prof”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Morgan, or better McCloud, bends on himself, as if defeated and claims that Amari is “Cerberus” before pulling out a blade that he kept hidden under the leg of his pants and using it to attack Amari.
While the movement is really plastic… well, it also seems pretty unnatural. The Settei book shows the first draft for that scene and that one looked a lot more natural even if maybe less spectacular.
Anyway Amari blocks the knife with ease using the newspaper…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
…and presses his fingers against McCloud’s neck claiming he could use fingernails to cut his carotid artery…
Tumblr media
…and here I’ll admit I’m not really knowledgeable enough to tell if this is possible or not as I’ve never tried killing people with fingers (on a sidenote how sharp Amari’s fingernails are?).
More likely though, he’s planning to kill him not by cutting his artery but by pressuring it so as to cause a vagal inhibition which can kill you really quickly. Either that or he’s bluffing… though, of course, claiming he’ll cut the artery with his fingers is way cooler than claiming he’ll cause a vagal inhibition so maybe they changed things on purpose.
McCloud gives up (probably understanding that Amari isn’t out to kill him and therefore he isn’t Cerberus) and Amari catches his chance to toss the knife in the sea.
McCloud starts questioning Amari on how he could recognize him since he undertook a huge amount of plastic surgery.
Amari explains he had only few bits of random intel on him like how he’s unable to ignore crossword puzzles and how the clues in the crossword puzzle were also tailored for McCloud. Still Amari claims that, despite the plastic surgery he could recognize McCloud even without the crossword puzzle because several of his facial features matched the picture he had as, like fingerprints, there are some things unique to each individual (we’ll discover later he’s talking about McCloud’s ear shape).
Now… okay, I don’t really get the plan here. Amari can force McCloud to disembark on Honululu and not get in Japan… but what after this? McCloud can always try using the next boat to reach Japan since Amari isn’t going to kill him. Wouldn’t be better to let him reach Japan and then arrest him there?
Unless part of the plan got cut due to time reasons this bit feels confusing.
However at this point the discussion between the two is interrupted. A ship is appearing.
Tumblr media
‘Keiryaku’ [計略 Strategy] starts playing as people think the ship might be a Japanese one, then it turns out it’s not. What’s worse the ship shoots a cannonball close to the Tokimaru, causing the people on board to panic.
Allow me a second to praise how each passenger has a different face.
Tumblr media
After firing the shoot we can see they have the English flag and that are raising another flag that means “Stop your vessel at once”.
Tumblr media
McCloud confirms for us that the ship is from the Royal Navy in case we didn’t recognize the flag.
Behind him we can see people panicking and escaping. It’s worth to point out that, back then Japan and England weren’t at war yet. But we’ll discuss about this in a while.
McCloud feels confident, claiming he had fun playing with Utsumi’s (Amari’s) crossword puzzle and then, claiming this is a goodbye, picks up one of the previously mentioned glasses and drinks from it.
A music starts playing but I can’t recognize it. Sorry about it. Anyway as soon as McCloud drinks he starts to feel sick, drops the glass, begins to claim that Utsumi is Cerb… then dies.
‘ Seion’ [静穏 Quiet] starts playing.
The scene switches and we go back to the Greater East Asia Cultural Society. It’s clearly a flashback in which Yūki is handing Amari the current case. Yūki taks to him about Louis McCloud, showing him photos of the man…
Tumblr media
… and telling Amari the man was hired by the SIS during WW1, working on decrypting German communications. He hads the man has changed his face and plans to travel from America to Japan. As Amari reads the documents at an amazing speed, Yūki tells him not to let McCloud set foot in Japan… and so this confirm my confusion. Even if Amari were to cause the man to disembark at Honululu what would stop him from coming in Japan with the next boat? And why McCloud felt relief when he saw the English boat? Amari had told him his purpose was to stop him from coming to Japan and, apparently, McCloud had figured out Amari wasn’t after his blood so even if he were to leave with the Royal Navy McCloud would still not manage to go to Japan and Amari would have won just the same.
Definitely there’s something missing in the plan but I’ve no idea what it is.
Meanwhile, as Amari stares at McCloud’s photo he says ‘Garderning plan’ and this is confusing because that’s the first time we hear about it, and we might think it’s Yūki’s plan for McCloud, not McCloud’s plan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sure, it was probably meant to hint at how Amari got info on what McCloud did that caused Synthia’s husband’s death but, right now it feels a bit random. But well, if that was the plan it wasn’t bad as an idea… only I fear it’s too distant and obscure to help people connect the dots at a first watch.
We’re back to the ships. Small boats are moving from the English ship to the Tokimaru.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile the captain of the Tokimaru is questioning Utsumi (Amari) about Morgan (McCloud). Amari insists he just met him on the ship and so he didn’t know him and asks the cause of his death. The First Mate tells him it was due to cyanide poisoning. Hum… I’m not sure it’s a smart idea to give out info to Amari as he should be suspected but now I can finally rant about how the glasses were a problem.
In the Anime the glasses appeared on the table after Amari and McCloud started doing the crossword puzzle. They contain what is apparently the same drink. Now, as they contained apparently the same drink and McCloud picked up one at random, this means BOTH were poisoned. However we see no one coming close to them and poisoning them.
This should mean that poison was already inside them when they were delivered… but when they were delivered?
This is unknown. They weren’t on the table before Amari met Synthia and they aren’t on it when he goes back to his crossword puzzle and sees McCloud staring at it. They’ll just appear after Amari and McCloud sat down and started doing the crossword puzzle.
In order to deliver the cyanide the assassin should have seen them sitting down together, and then either poison both the drinks they ordered, or send them poisoned drinks with an excuse.
I’m saying ‘send them’ because the assassin apparently didn’t deliver them personally or Amari would have recognized that person (SPOILER AHEAD: the assassin is Synthia so if she had delivered them personally Amari would have suspected her way sooner). The problem however here is ‘how did she poison the drinks without being noticed by the one carrying them?’ and why no one checked from where the poisoned drink came from?
In the original version this story was pretty long, and even cut in two parts so it’s possible that this is all due to the anime having to cut too many things. Sure is the mystery part gets incredibly weak, which is a pity.
Anyway, back to the story, Amari thinks at McCloud’s dying words and figures that McCloud was targeted by someone whose codename was “Cerberus”.
The scene switch and we’re on the bridge of the ship. The English sailors have come aboard and the Tokimaru’s captain is protesting for what they’re doing, claiming they’re violating international law.
The English captain says he’s there to retrieve Jeffrey Morgan, an ENGLISHMAN who’s being held prisoner on a stateless vessel. Now, remember how McCloud was pretending Jeffrey Morgan was an AMERICAN? Yes, it’s a mess, especially because it’s totally random. Why should they want to retrieve him and even blow HALF of his cover (that he’s not American but not which his true name is) when the plan was for him to infiltrate in Japan? Or is McCloud trying to act on his own again? Or is he deserting England? Who knows?
In truth the whole thing is due to an anime change. In the novel the situation was based on what is called the Asamamaru Incident.
In fact in the novel the British wanted to get not Jeffrey Morgan but the Germans who were aboard the ship so they couldn’t return to Germany and then join the German Army. Yes, the whole thing was in direct violation of Japan’s neutrality and international law.
This is what basically happened to the Asamamaru and it’s something that worsened the anti-British sentiment in Japan.
The Anime makers admitted they found this too complicate of a side plot thread and preferred to change it. Personally I don’t think the idea is so bright as it gets even more confusing and random, though maybe it’s a tamer approach to the whole incident.
Anyway the English side claims they’ve permission of the American for conducting unannounced investigation on suspicious ships… which might be why they were presented very close to Hawaii. Maybe the idea is that they’re in American waters so the English abuse isn’t as bad as it originally was.
The English captain still comes out as a jerk but the Japanese captain is in trouble due to Morgan being dead.
Meanwhile the First Mate sees that Synthia, Emma’s mother and the woman who felt sick at the beginning, is on the bridge and goes to check how she’s feeling.
Tumblr media
As he does so, he reveals that the woman’s surname is ‘Grane’. Amari has a revelation at this…
Tumblr media
…and picks the passenger roaster. On it S. Grane and her daughter E. Grane are listed as traveling with a pet dog, Frate.
Tumblr media
This causes Amari to figure out that the woman lied when she said the dog scared her as the dog was HER dog.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Amari whistles and calls Frate (in English because he’s an English dog…. ^_-). Frate arrives in a run and jumps in Utsumi’s arms. Evidently he’s not a shy or wary dog. Now… maybe there’s a reason for the whole thing (maybe due to some boat rule pet animals has to be left free to wander on the bridge?), but leaving Frate free to wander on the boat was pretty silly. Though it seems the meeting between Synthia and Amari in the novel didn’t happen as shown in the anime, so maybe in the novel the dog was left free for a purpose.
Anyway Amari claims he can explain Morgan’s death but needs a little time first. The two captains agree.
Let me point out for a moment how beautiful the sea is now that sunset is slowly coming…
Tumblr media
…before telling you that Amari turns to Synthia…
Tumblr media
…who lowers her head as ‘Aitō’ [哀悼 Apologies] starts playing.
The scene switches, Amari and Synthia are talking. Emma is asleep in her mother’s arms, which is convenient but weird as she was fully awake moments before.
Amari asks Synthia if she’s Cerberus. She doesn’t reply.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Amari claims that Frate isn’t like Cerberus but pulls out a photo from his collar and asks Synthia to explain it. In the photo there are McCloud before the plastic surgery and a sailor. The sailor is the one who died at the beginning of the episode, Raymond Grane.
Tumblr media
Synthia turns her head away but Amari insists and asks her how did she know it was him. She admits she figured out as soon as she saw him due to the shape of his ears.
Remember? Amari talked about facial features that are unique. Those are the ears.
Synthia now explains how Emma felt ill after they left the port so, when she finally felt better Synthia started searching for McCloud’s ears. She saw him but also saw Frate, first at his feet, then running toward her, so she panicked because that photo was hidden in his collar.
Again, on the overall it’s weak. The real danger wasn’t the photo that was hardly visible, it was McCloud recognizing Frate or her or Emma. And yelling should have attracted his attention. Actually it was weird it didn’t as well as it’s weird she let Frate wander around when he had such a compromising document that caused her to panic.
Amari asked her why, since she completed her task, she didn’t get rid of the photo. Synthia replies that this is the most handsome photo she has of Raymond, her husband and Emma’s father… and even this the explanation is weak. All she had to do was to cut the McCloud part and keep Raymond.
Of course we can speculate that Synthia isn’t in the best mental state. She just betrayed her country to Germany (which physically killed her husband) to personally kill the man who caused the Germans to kill her husband, dragging along her small daughter and her dog. She also had admitted she spent all the days staring to that photo so as to memorize the shape of McCloud’s ears. There’s enough to suspect her mental sanity at the moment so it might make sense she’s not seeing such a simple solution. Synthia is full with hate for McCloud, evidently she’s not thinking straight.
‘Hifū [悲風 Sorrowful wind] starts playing.
Anyway Synthia says that now that she had killed McCloud she has no regrets. She doesn’t look exactly overjoyed or in peace though.
Tumblr media
Amari tells us about how a German merchant raider sunk the English cargo on which Raymond Grane was the first mate. Remember how he said Gardening Plan when he was with Yūki? Those words were likely meant to explain this scene.
Anyway a flashback starts in which Synthia remembers the mourning ceremony for her husband, how McCloud joined her pretending to comfort her…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
…how, searching for Emma, she ended up on overhearing what McCloud did, which was his Gardening plan, which seems to break her.
Tumblr media
Personally I find the whole thing a bit dumb as the one talking with McCloud is basically yelling about a SIS plan that caused an English Cargo to be sunk.
True, there’s no one outside but someone could overhear… as it actually happens.
(On a sidenote can I praise again JG for its care in the details and for how pretty everything is? Look at the colour on the wooden door, they didn’t just paint it all of the same colour, they painted it so that it seems there’s paint over it and that part of it is coming away.)
Tumblr media
With this Synthia’s tale ends.
Tumblr media
Amari then explains what happened afterward, how the German Navy used Enigma to encrypt the stolen orders and telegraph it to friendly troops, how the English intercepted that transmission and tried comparing the two messages. How this also caused McCloud to end up disavowed by the SIS.
Synthia is surprised he could know so many things, figuring there are mysteries in his life too.
She then admits she became a German spy to get her revenge so she’s ready to consequences but, when she watches Emma, she doesn’t know anymore what she lived for or what she should have lived for.
Tumblr media
Emma makes a timely wake up and asks her what’s wrong.
Tumblr media
Amari asks Emma if she wants to see the dolphins again. Emma agrees but the subtle message is for Synthia. Amari fundamentally volunteered to take care of Emma from now on.
‘Kansō’ [歓送 Farewell] starts playing.
Synthia agrees…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
… and Amari walks away with Emma and Frate.
Next we see a scene of a man raising Emma, Frate jumping around them.
Tumblr media
It might be hard to figure it out but that man isn’t Amari but Raymond, whom, in the novel was described as resembling Utsumi Osamu. Hence when Synthia entrusted Emma to Amari she sort of had the feeling to entrust her to her husband.
Synthia whispers a goodbye to Emma before standing up and consigning herself to the officers.
Amari and Emma are watching the sea but no dolphin is in sight so Emma asks if they’re taking a nap.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Amari claims they’ll see them tomorrow and Emma agrees, saying they’ll do it with her mother. Amari tells Frate he can come (see them as well) then, staring at the horizon wonders to his situation of now having to take care of Emma and Frate then decides it’ll work out somehow.
Tumblr media
On the table we see the crossword puzzle. In it the word ‘life’ is bolded.
Tumblr media
Hum… maybe it was better if it was ‘live’ but well, we get the message just the same.
And with this the episode ends.
Ending theme.
Overall this episode is visually beautiful and the drama behind the story is one of the best but… the mystery part is a mess. Even if some things can be excused there are still plot holes. Sure, it can be they’re due to the story being cut left and right but… well, it’s a pity.
The best one can do is to watch it for the story, which is lovely, and not for the mystery, which, for once, is the weakest point of the plot.
Oh, as you might have noticed this time I didn’t pause much to describe scenes visually as there were almost no special visual shoots. It doesn’t mean they were bad, everything was really, really pretty, but we didn’t have neither smart nor subtly meaningful shots. So, beyond saying that something is very aesthetically pleasing there wasn’t much to say about the visual.
Maybe the only thing that’s noteworthy is that there are a good amount of close up and "Italian shot" or Extreme Close Up in which only the character’s eyes are visible to better express the feelings of said character but that’s not that out of ordinary in anime.
And this was Joker Game Ep 7. Thank you to everyone who was brave and patient enough to sit through my long, long ramblings for the whole episode. I hope other people will feel like sharing what they had observed while watching it!

(Europe-Anon here) Well, I may not ship them, buuuuuuut I'm very glad to see Lucifer "back in action". And he still reads. Talk about character-continuity (is that a thing?) And the scene with Jeanne and Nina's mother had me hold back a few tears, so wonderful to see her let go of some pressure.
ho ho ho plenty of reasons to be excited for Lucifer's appearance! :D (tho for me indeed one of it is bcs I ship him w/ azazel ahem)
first of all, it's incredibly unfair that the leader of the gods (gabriel) gets to have plenty of screen time while the leader of the demons doesn't even get mentioned? like at all?
second, I need my fix of sparkly demon too dammit (sorry azazel, you're cute but you're also all dark and emo and goth and not...sparkly...)
third, his VA is THE sakurai takahiro :D
I hope it's not only Lucifer that's going to appear tho... Lucifer may have these super massive awesome powers so he could win in an instant no sweat, but it's such a waste to let him appear alone without making his fallen angels army fight.  Make use of his background, scriptwriters-san!
Also it's just super lonely, if the demons would only get represented by him and azazel (would cerberus even join them, girl seems to be having too much fun rn), just like how gabriel and sofiel look pathetic lonely with only the two of them representing the gods while the rest are nameless, replaceable goons. srsly why not show the gods that already made appearances during bahamut fiasco? that would make this whole thing more *real*, in a way.
And he still reads. Talk about character-continuity (is that a thing?)
most probably! :D
I mean, lmao, books are the only thing we could identify him with since all he does in genesis is sit and enjoy his books while the world burns. The guy has his priorities straight. ahem.
unfortunately I can't comment on the content of the ep itself since I haven't watched it orz. currently too busy repeating that part in the op. I know I've gif-ed it but it feels more satisfying to just repeat that part of the vid again and again.
um.

hi anon!! those dorks’re just so adorable together, aren’t they? :3
this did take me a while to put together, but it’s no problem! a good place to start is over at @ff7central, which in addition to being a fanblog itself has pages of active blog masterlists for artists, fic writers, roleplayers, and more c:
similarly, @fairstrifenetwork collects Clack blogs!
and under the cut (’cause it got long oops) is my own list of friends and local Clack shippers for you to check out, plus another list of various FFVII/shipping blogs I follow ^^

Manga the Week of 5/1/19
SEAN: Please join us for next week’s crush of titles. Yes, another one.
Ghost Ship gives us To-Love-Ru Darkness 10 and Yokai Girls 7.
J-Novel Club has a lot of debuts coming up, but this one is a license rescue. Tokyopop released a few of the Full Metal Panic! novels back in 2007 or so, but only got five books in. Now J-Novel Club has the rights, and is releasing new translations. The first volume is out digitally next week, with print omnibuses coming early next year. Please enjoy the only angry tsundere male anime fans never tore apart, Kaname Chidori.
J-Novel Club also has How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord 8, Infinite Stratos 7, My Next Life as a Villainess 3, and The Unwanted Undead Adventurer 4. Everyone should be reading Bakarina.
Kodansha has quite a bit. There’s Battle Angel Alita: Mars Chronicle 6, Fire Force 15, and Toppu GP 4 on the print side.
ASH: As a whole, I think I’ve been enjoying Mars Chronicle more than I ended up enjoying Last Order. If nothing else, the action sequences are engaging.
SEAN: Digitally we see Kounodori: Dr. Stork 11, Lovesick Ellie 8, The Prince’s Black Poison 9, Princess Resurrection Nightmare 3, and The Quintessential Quintuplets 7.
Seven Seas has a light novel digital debut with Reincarnated as a Sword, which… aw, you can guess. He’s reincarnated. As a sword! There’s also a catgirl, apparently.
ASH: There have been so many of this particular type of ridiculous premise of late!
SEAN: There’s also a spinoff manga debut with the first volume of Mushoku Tensei: Roxy Gets Serious. With a soundtrack by Jon Astley.
Seven Seas also has Generation Witch 4 and Plus-Sized Elf 2.
Vertical has Arakawa Under the Bridge 6, the title that ISN’T Saint Young Men.
ANNA: I’m STILL EXCITED for Saint Young Men!
ASH: Same! Though, I do enjoy Arakawa Under the Bridge, too.
SEAN: They also have Tsukimonogatari: Possession Tale, the latest in Nisioisin’s fan-friendly novel series, this time focusing on deadpan corpse Ononoki.
Viz has a picture book. Why mention it here? It’s a Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind picture book.
ANNA: I am confident it will be gorgeous.
SEAN: Yen time. JY has a 3rd volume of Zo-Zo-Zombie.
Yen On gives us another of the seemingly endless Final Fantasy novels, this one Final Fantasy XIII: Episode Zero: Promise.
The closest thing Yen has to a manga debut this month is the start of the 8th and final arc of Umineko When They Cry. Titled Twilight of the Golden Witch, this omnibus has the first three volumes, and features some of the best and worst of the series.
And then there is… to the tune of some Gilbert and Sullivan song…
Akame Ga KILL! ZERO 9 Angels of Death 6 Aoharu x Machinegun 15 A Certain Magical Index (manga) 17 Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody (manga) 7 DIVE!! 2 The Elder Sister-Like One 3
(takes breath)
Goblin Slayer (manga) 5. Hakumei & Mikochi 5 Hatsu*Haru 6 High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even in Another World 3 Is It Wrong to Try To Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon: Sword Oratoria (manga) 7
(I hope you’re taking notes, there will be a quiz next period)
Kagerou Daze (manga) 12 Murcielago 10 Nyankees 2 The Royal Tutor 11 Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts 5 The Saga of Tanya the Evil 6 (manga)
(we’re in the home stretch, folks)
Sekirei Omnibus 8 Silver Spoon 8
(pause for Melinda to scream “SILVER SPOOOOOOOOOON!)
MELINDA: SILVER SPOOOOOOOOOOON!
SEAN: Teasing Master Takagi-san 4 Today’s Cerberus 12 Yowamushi Pedal 11
MICHELLE: Yen’s releases are where my attention is this week. Most of that goes to Yowamushi Pedal, of course, but I continue to have the best intentions for reading Silver Spoon and a couple of their shoujo offerings, too. One of these days!
MELINDA: I’m a little stunned by how little there is for me here in a week with SO many releases. But Sean made it all better with his G&S joke. Honestly, that’s worth the weirdly uninteresting (to me) glut.
ASH: I was likewise greatly amused! Out of the bunch Silver Spoon and Yowamushi Pedal are what interest me the most. I’ve also been enjoying Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts. And while I wasn’t as taken with their debuts as I had hoped, I would love to see DIVE!! and Nyankees live up to their promise.
SEAN: And that’s it! See? You can probably buy all of it easily. What will you be getting?
