And When I Wake You're There I'm Saved | T | 1-1.5 hours tags: space, kidnapped Derek, kidnapped Stiles, no torture Summary: "Derek," Stiles says, firm. His hand is warm on Derek's shoulder. "I'll be okay."

"You didn't leave me," Derek argues. "How can you expect me to leave you?"

Stiles rolls his eyes. "Oh my god, it'll be fine. Even if I am captured, I'm just a boring human. They wanted you for your Lycan blood."

Derek crosses his arms. Mainly so he doesn't wrap his hands around Stiles' throat in an attempt to throttle some sense into him. "That's fine. But this isn't a time when being a boring human is an asset. This is a time when being a boring human results in a shot to the head."

"Derek," Stiles says again. He steps closer, so Derek is surrounded in his scent, his chemosignals—namely unwavering, resolute determination, distinctively sharp and entirely unbreakable—clouding Derek's mind. "You'll come back for me." He sounds so sure, and he can tell the exact moment Derek gives in. Because Derek somehow always gives in to Stiles.

"I'll come back for you," he confirms. "And you better not be dead."

Stiles grins, eyes sparkling with far too much humour for someone who potentially just sacrificed himself for a surly Lycan and bunch of strangers. "You do say the sweetest things."

Stiles has no choice but to take him through the protected borders of Willow Pass so he can figure out what's going on and if this strange werewolf is a danger to his coven.

Fandom Fic Rec: Throw Back Edition

I'm making a game cause I'm bored, and I've been thinking about old fandoms I've been in and the fics that have left an impression on me! So here are the rules:

Chose 5 fandoms you are no longer active in (as in actively participating/creating in), and then chose 1 fic for each fandom that's stuck with you. Tag 5 people when you're done!

(Of course, if you're not tagged, you're welcome to play. I just think it's fun to do a little fandom digging and share some blasts from the past :3)

1. Fandom: Harry Potter | Pairing: Draco Malfoy/Harry Potter

Forgive Those Who Trespass by: Lomonaaeren (AO3)

This fic is filled with heavy and disturbing subject matter, so if you check it out please mind the tags and then expect a little worse. Still, it's a highly captivating story, and the pacing is phenomenal. I love this writer a lot, actually, and when I was actively reading Drarry it turns out they wrote a lot of the ones I enjoyed.

2. Fandom: Law & Order: SVU | Pairing: Rafael Barba/Sonny Carisi

Good Morning by: @poipoi1912 | Kaye_21 (AO3)

I'm pretty sure, aside from the credit I give the TG fandom. This was actually my first introduction to the time loop concept. It's one I come back to, ironically, over and over again. I love pretty much everything about it, to the point where I once asked to do a podfic (and boy howdy did that slip through my fingers .-., rip to non-planning Alex of old) of the piece because I loved it so much!

3. Fandom: Star Trek (2009) | Paring: Leonard McCoy/Pavel Chekov

The Gap Between (Fanfic.net) by: McStories (Fanfic.net)

Talk about an age gap with this one (ties back into the title actually) and a rarepair at that. I don't even remember what fic got me into this pairing, though I know who to blame for dragging me into it. This fic runs the gauntlet of characters having misconceptions, preconceived notions, and learning how to get the fuck over themselves. I love this fic to pieces. It's one of the few I've read multiple times, and if you're open to the ship I highly recommend giving this one a shot. There is heavy subject matter, however, so be mindful.

4. Fandom: Teen Wolf | Paring: Derek Hale/Stiles Stilinski

(not so) Pure Imagination by: @halekingsourwolf / @theroguesrandom | theroguesgambit (AO3)

The concept in this fic was the first time I'd ever seen it done, and god, is it done well. It's fun and sexy and filled with a glorious amount of guilt and pining. Wonderful all the way through and one of the few Sterek fics that immediately comes to mind! If you're into Sterek and you haven't read this please do yourself a favor and go on!

5. Fandom: Stargate: Atlantis | Pairing: John Shepard/Rodney McKay

know how to fall by Auburn (Website)

With the downfall of old personally owned/hosted fanfic site, in the dark ages before AO3 and Fanfiction.net, where LiveJournal was really poppin', it's an honest to god shame how many amazing fanfictions have been lost to the cruel ways of the internet, and no fandom for me has been hit as hard as the Stargate: Atlantis fandom. I was so happy to see that this fic lived on with Auburn's personally maintained archive, and I hope that some of you get a chance to read this fic as well as some others from this author.

What is the Obikin Events Valentine’s Day Gift Exchange?

Well, it’s much like any holiday or fandom exchange where a person will sign up to create something fannish for someone else who signs up, and in turn will be given a gift created just for them!

We do ask if you’re thinking about signing up for this, that you keep our minimums and schedule in mind, as these dates and requirements are for everyone, so no exceptions will be made.

The Schedule:

Signups will open on: January 1, at 12:00AM US EST.

Signups Close: January 8, 11:59PM US EST.

Assignments will be out by: January 10, 11:59PM US EST.

Works are due by: February 9, 11:59PM US EST.

The Pinch Hitters will be contacted and given assignments on: February 10, 11:59PM US EST.

Gifts will be revealed on: February 14, 12:00PM US EST!

Authors will be revealed: February 21, 11:59AM US EST!

What are the basic rules for this Valentine’s Day Gift Exchange?

You must have an Ao3 account to sign-up for this exchange, as that is where we will be running this. Please contact the mods if you would like help getting an invite if you need one.

Works will remain anonymous until the reveal date, so please do not share or talk about what you are creating for your giftee until after the creator reveals have happened.

You must be 18+ to sign-up.

YOU MUST TAG APPROPRIATELY – while something may not bother you, that is not the same for someone else, so please, please ensure you tag appropriately or leave a note at the top of the fic letting people know that ‘x’, ‘y’ or ‘z’ thing is going to appear within your creation.

While we have no maximums for this exchange, these are our hard minimums you must meet:

Fic: 500 words.

Art: a clean sketch that is at least 500x500 pixels.

How does the Valentine’s Gift Exchange work?

When you sign-up you will list at least 3 prompts, likes/do not want’s – please be thorough when filling those out to ensure you receive what you want and not something that is a no for you – in your requests.

(example prompts: 1, Obi-wan meets Anakin by spilling coffee on him; 2, Sith Anakin tries to court Jedi Master Obi-wan; 3, Anakin helps his twins make up valentines cards for their second grade class, while hopelessly pining for their teacher and wishing he could give the man his own.)

(example likes/dislikes: likes - bottom Anakin, soft dom Obi-wan, canon verse, fix-its, happy endings | dislikes: bottom Obi-wan, modern AUs, no happy endings, mentions of Anidala or Quiobi)

In your offers, you will list what you are comfortable creating for and what you are not.

(example: I’m comfortable writing canon verse/compliant/divergence, fix-its, Sith/Never a Jedi AUs, etc… | I’m not comfortable writing reverse or age swap fics, modern AUs)

Treats are a bonus, not something creators need to fill!

Q&A:

What happens if I don’t like any of the prompts I receive?

While mods will be double checking that 'do not wants' do not conflict with their matches requests, the prompts are meant to inspire you. As long as you do not write something which a person has marked 'DNW' and suit the spirit of the exchange.

Can my work be multi-chaptered?

Absolutely it can! But it must be a completed work when you fulfil your assignment by the deadline.

What kind of art can I make?

While you may opt into receiving nontraditional art for treats – such as gifs, fanvideos, fanmixies, podfics, graphics/manips – we do ask that you stick to the more traditional fanart/writing for filling the main assignment.

Do we have to fill out all prompts when signing up?

No, you simply need to fulfill one of the prompts given.

I’m excited to talk about my prompts, can I?

No. This exchange is meant to be a secret, so please do not discuss who you’re creating for in a public setting. If you have a trusted friend you talk over ideas with, that is alright but please don’t publicly speak about it.

I’ve signed up but life has happened and I don’t think I’ll be able to finish my gift. What should I do?

Please contact the mods as soon as you realize this so that we may contact a pinch hitter and give them the maximum amount of time to work on the gift.

I’d like to sign up as a pinch hitter, how can I do that?

If you’d like to sign up as a pinch hitter, please DM the mods with your Ao3 handle and the best way to contact you and we’ll add you to our list!

I know I won’t be able to fulfill my gift but a friend has said they could, can I just give them my assignment?

No. Please do not do this. If you know you will not be able to finish, please contact the mods and not just give your assignment away to a friend.

Can I only list 3 prompts?

No, you can absolutely list more, but the minimum we ask for is three.

#CelebRRRation Posting Rules

Hi friends!

As we are less than a week away from the start of our CelebRRRation festivities, @stanleykubricks and I ( @fangirlshrewt97 ) thought we could go over the ground rules again and explain posting for the event. As always if you have any queries about it, feel free to send us an Ask!

This is a low-pressure event meant to encourage the creation of more fanworks for RRR. Fic, art, gifs, vids, podfic, music, memes, you name it—all are welcome.

You can find information regarding the prompts and the guidelines for the content of your entries here!

Posting Guidelines & Template:

Please use the appropriate event tag (#CelebRRRation22) for all submissions. All work must be original to the person entering it. We will not accept reposts that don’t have proper credit and approval from the original artist.

We will reblog all valid entries so please get in touch with us if you don’t see your entry up within a few days. You can also mention our blog @celebrrration to get our attention.

Is there a minimum word count?

No there isn’t, we will be accepting everything from five sentence memes all the way to multi-chapter fics. Poetry will also be accepted.

Is there any content that will not be allowed?

All entries should treat their subject matter respectfully and tag triggers appropriately.

Can I submit a new chapter to a published fiction as my entry?

All work must be previously unpublished. New chapters of an already published work will not be accepted, however, a stand-alone one-shot based on an existing work is acceptable.

How rigid are the prompts?

We have tried to choose very open ended prompts and keep a good mix of prompts for each day so people would have the greatest number of options to choose. For prompts such as “Dosti” and “Naatu Naatu”, they are not strictly related to those two songs from the movie, but rather anything related to those songs.

Can I submit a work for multiple days?

Any work can include multiple prompts, but each entry will only be taken for one day! So choose accordingly!

Do I have to post for all the days?

Absolutely not! This event is meant to be fun. You can create as many or as few works as you are able to. If you can only submit one entry, then embrace that entry with all your heart, we will love it too.

Do the characters involved have to be in a romantic relationship or can I portray them platonically?

You are welcome to represent whoever you want, however you want!

Will you accept smut or PWP in your event?

Yes, you are welcome to submit this type of work as long as you tag and rate it appropriately, and follow all the other event rules.

How should I rate my fanfiction?

You should use the AO3 Guidelines . Please make sure to tag for any potential triggers.

Is there a limit to the amount of entries one can submit to this event?

You can submit as many entries as you want, there is no limit!

Will you accept late submissions?

Yes we will accept late submissions, if we don’t reblog it send us an ask or tag us in a reblog of it so we definitely see it but we’ll do our best to keep checking the event tag. We will accept fics into the event till the end of the month (October 31, 2022), as real life is hard and it can be easy to lose track of time.

Are AU’s allowed?

Yes, despite AU only being listed in the prompts for Day 5, you can use AUs for any of the other days as well.

What if I only want to post in AO3?

That’s fine! There is an option on AO3 to share your work to Tumblr. It will automatically generate a post for you! All you need to do is add the #celebrrration2022 tag and @celebrrration! Alternatively, you can send us a submission with the link, and we'll post it on this blog.

First Monday of the month, so here we are!

As usual, we’ll do an Open Question Night--while my askbox is always open, tonight I’ll be keeping an eye on it if anyone has questions. I’ve basically only been writing my Year of the OTP fills at the moment. I’m also doing some betaing/podficcing for SWBB, as well as pitching in on the mod side, but not a lot of writing. Hopefully once the event is over I’ll get back to Precipice!verse (which I refuse to let die) and other projects in that fandom, but we’ll see how it goes.

Castlevania Fic:

I swear I haven’t forgotten Incinctus (or the one other plot idea I had, but I want to put more of Incinctus up before I start working on it). I just...yeah, nothing’s really happened this month, lol. Maybe in May...although I do have a lot of family/personal stuff coming up so IDK how much time I’ll have. Work at least should be somewhat calmer now?

BSG Fic:

I really am working on The Other Battlestar in the background of everything else, I swear, lol. Still no official posting/start date, but maybe?? soon?? I hope anyway.

Also been doing Year of the OTP for this one. I’m really proud of the one I came out with this month--it’s an AU that’s been kicking around in my head for a while, and I like some of what I managed to pull off with mirroring bits of language/etc. (May or may not continue this AU; there’s some Interesting things that could go on. This...is probably going to make me sound like a terrible person, but they obviously won’t succeed Completely because that makes for a much less interesting story, lol. But those 4-ish months between this bit and the eventual attack, plus the ways the aftermath would be different, could be a Lot of fun. I did have a few ideas here and there, but nothing like a coherent Story yet.)

Also! Galactica Big Bang is coming along! The amazing fracktastic designed some icons, and I’m putting a banner together/finalizing the FAQ/rules/etc. I’ll probably do a kickoff post sometime this month. Like...what’s normal for this type of event, lol. Six weeks before the signups open? A month? Two? (Technically I missed the window on two, since I’m opening signups on July 1...)

Still doing OTP fills; I’m having a lot of fun with it. I did write one thing that was not a fill for a challenge on rainbowfic; might or might not do that again this month, I haven’t looked at the May prompts for Year of the OTP, but they could line up with this month’s RF challenge...

(I also might be going back to the Bridgerton/Regency AU for Lux that I put together a couple years back for a challenge. This is because I saw Les Mis on Saturday and I swear that actually does make sense in context XD

Other Projects:

Nothing concrete in the pipeline at the moment...one of my roommates has gotten back into AtLA again (not sure if that had happened by April’s Coming Attractions post and I’m too lazy to check lol) so a few of the things I poke at in that fandom are floating around. No concrete work on anything at this point, but we’ll see how it goes.

Tag your tumblr posts sharing your entries and completed bingos for us to reblog appropriately, and clearly indicate in your posts whether the entry is nsfw and if any content notes or trigger warnings apply. If using tumblr to post your entries, the content of your written entries must be below a cut, and all nsfw or triggering content must be below a cut.

One new entry can fulfill multiple prompts, we just ask that you make sure your entry meets the fill requirements for the total number of prompts it is intended to fulfill.

You can use any new entry that is also a fill for another event, such as a fandom week or a big bang, as a bingo fill

Tag #bobadinaubingo and @bobadinweek to be reblogged, and add your entry to the AO3 collection.

You may swap the location of prompts on your bingo card up to two times, or swap up to two prompts out entirely for different prompts of your choice. You can see the full prompt list here.

OT3 fills are allowed, but remember that this is a BobaDin AU Bingo.

Only completed entries count as fills (we will reblog all tagged works but if your fill is incomplete at the time we close the bingo, we may remove it from the AO3 collection).

How To Fill

After signing up, you will receive your personal bingo card with your username on it and a transparent PNG stamp by email. Here’s an example:

Place the transparent PNG stamp over any prompts you fill. You can use any image editing software that supports transparent PNGs, including browser-based editing software like https://pixlr.com.

After you have completed 5 fills in a row, you can email your card to us at [email protected] and we’ll put a completion achievement stamp on the card. A completed card with one bingo might look like this:

There are different completion achievement stamps for single bingo, double bingo, and a special stamp for a T-visor double bingo (top row and center row). You can complete multiple bingos using the same card and send your card in each time to get more than one completion achievement stamp. At the end of the event, as long as you’ve completed at least one fill, you can send your card in for a participation achievement stamp.

We’ve tried to ensure every card has a variety of entries and hope that you enjoy the one we generate for you! You can take advantage of the two swaps per card to swap the location of prompts twice, or swap out two prompts for two different prompts of your choice to make your bingo work.

Can I request to not receive certain prompts on my card?

In order to make the card generating process as quick as possible, we aren’t taking requests to not receive prompts. If you receive a prompt you don’t like, you can swap it out for one you do (please see FAQ 4). We’ve tried to make sure the prompt list is entirely sfw, and that the prompts are broad and flexible. If you have a concern about a prompt that you don’t think is answered here, please send us an email at [email protected] or drop us a message in the #call-a-mod channel on the Discord.

What ratings are allowed?

Anything from general work to explicit work is welcomed! Please tag, rate, and warn appropriately. (See the rules.)

Is there a format or anything I should include when I post my entries?

Can I work with a co-creator or share a card?

Yes, but keep in mind that if you don’t sign up together, your card will only have one username on it.

What if I don’t know what a prompt means?

Ask us! We’ve kept the prompts sfw and tried to make them general to encourage maximum creativity and flexibility, including overlap with other prompts. If you think an idea fits a prompt, it probably does! If a prompt is unclear, or if you aren’t sure if the idea you have works for the prompt, you can send us an email at [email protected] or drop us a message in the #call-a-mod channel on the Discord.

What do words in brackets, such as (yet) mean on prompts?

Words in brackets are extra information to support creativity, but are not necessary to include in your fill if you don’t want to.

What does “Shared Fandom Trope” mean?

Any type of AU that is a general panfandom type of AU, such as a Sentinel AU, a CoffeeShop AU, a Soulmate AU, or a wingfic AU. (These are just examples– there are many possibilities!)

What does “Fusion” mean on a prompt?

A fusion is when you take the universe or general plot of a different property (another TV show, a movie, a book, a video game, a play, etc) and adapt it to fit with your characters and their stories, like putting Boba, Din, and other Star Wars characters inside the Zelda video game universe and meshing it all together, or adapting the Beauty and the Beast story for Boba and Din.

Is there somewhere I can brainstorm ideas or talk about BobaDin aus?

If you’re 18 or older, you can chat about the bingo, your favourite AUs, and brainstorm with other server members in the BobaDin Discord. Can I add a NSFW AU/use a NSFW AU in the free space/swap a prompt for a NSFW AU?

Yes, it’s fine to have NSFW AUs such as Dom/Sub AUs, A/B/O AUs, etc, just please be sure to put NSFW fills under a cut.

AO3′s users alert! Unauthorised fanworks copying

Dear AO3 users,

We would like to bring your attention to an ugly situation with unauthorized copying of works posted on AO3.

A lot of works from AO3 have been copied to fanfics.me (we’ll call this site FFM for brevity’s sake) and are still being copied right now, either:

— automatically by a code specifically created by FFM’s owner for this purpose, or

— by unaware or unscrupulous FFM’s users via semi-automatic method (by inserting a link to a work from AO3 into a web-worm on FFM).

All works from AO3 — with a few exceptions (I’ll elaborate on this below) — can end up on FFM without authors even noticing. Even fanarts or podfics.

FFM doesn't comply with DMCA which means that such reposts endanger fanworks' creators in case the copyright holder demands to delete the fanwork.

Authors of the copied works do not have any control over them; if the work is edited it won’t be updated on FFM until someone manually updates it.

Additionally FFM’s owner makes money out of reposted free fanworks from numerous Google and Yandex ads on each and every FFM’s page by having people go to this site when searching for fics on Google etc. So we recommend using an Ads Blocker when visiting this site in order to prevent the owner from earning more. Ghostery or Adblock Plus work just fine, but you can use any other Ads Blocker that is convenient to you.

Oftentimes FFM even shows up before the original post with the work on Google search results.

We are trying to bring AO3’s users attention to this situation and help authors with taking their works down from FFM.

Briefly about the website and its owner

Let me start from the very beginning as it will bring into the light the nature of FFM and give a good example of its owner characteristic behavior.

At first, some person with nickname Refery created FFM as a web archive where authors — mostly from Harry Potter fandom — could publish their fanworks.

Time passed, the site grew and added some features (blogs, pre-moderation and etc.), and all was good and well up till the moment when Refery decided that it would be a great idea to copy to FFM fanworks published on other Russian fanfiction archives — among them from the biggest and most known site ficbook — without asking authors for permission. Even those works that had “Ask me before posting the story somewhere else” mentioned in its text or summary were copied.

For some time nobody noticed, but when finally and inevitably this came out the authors were outraged. It took a lot of time to finally persuade Refery to at least not to copy fanworks bearing a special tag “Уточнять у автора” (Ask the author first).

But after some time Refery — without giving any notice — violated his own promise and resumed copying to FFM fanworks that had the agreed upon tag. The authors complained again, so very reluctantly and after many painful discussions this feature was reinstalled.

So FFM has been notoriously known, mostly amongst Russian fandom, for claims on re-posting fanworks without the consent of the authors.

We're mentioning this situation just to give you a detailed portrait of a person we are dealing with here.

Not only fanworks are copied to this website, but original works, too. Even those which were already published. There were all 7 of Harry Potter novels (both original text and translation), The Hobbit: There and Back Again (translation) and Vorkosigan Saga (translation) available for everybody to read and download. They were taken down only recently due to the attention this whole situation had drawn, but nothing ever goes away once it’s posted online and you can access the proof via Internet Wayback machine. We know for a fact there are other books on FFM and some actions have been taken in this regard, but still it takes time to find published books on this site.

Recently Refery decided that Russian archives are not enough for him and started copying all fanworks into FFM without any permission from the authors from numerous sites, like AO3, fanfiction.net, fictionpress.com, fanfiktion.de and likely other web-archives.

Moreover, the authors of these works can not delete their works from FFM and/or manage them. The site is in Russian only and, hence, we strongly believe that non-Russian speaking authors even do not know that their works are reposted somewhere else.

As a Russian fan-community, we have tried to stop such activity of FFM many times; however, we have not been successful in achieving our goal completely. Our most recent achievement is that the FFM’s owner implemented the "Don't copy to another site" tag created specifically for AO3 (here is the link to FFM’s owner post on his personal blog regarding this tag. Please use Ads Blocker!). This tag should be added to each work presented on AO3 in case the author does not want their works to be copied to FFM.

We are of the opinion that no work should be taken without permission in the first place, but this tag is all we’ve got.

Please note that it seems that some time ago there was similar case of unauthorized copying with other site. Please check this link, they give useful advice.

How to prevent copying from AO3

If you check AO3 you may notice that "Don't copy to another site" tag has hugely emerged in the recent weeks, but mostly amongst Russian users and there is a good reason for this: the owner of FFM announced this tag only in Russian and only on his private blog, so naturally there is no way for non-Russian speaking AO3 users to know about this — albeit non-satisfactory — solution.

There are no guaranties that the FFM’s owner won’t change the rules again as has already happened numerous times before (few examples we described above) and that works with this tag won’t be reposted in the future, but for now it’s the only quick and working solution besides making your works visible only to registered users, which is not ideal.

This situation is highly unpleasant, but we ask you not to delete your works from AO3, because if the work is deleted from AO3 it will be nearly impossible to delete it from FFM: we won't be able to refresh it manually and remove the text.

Please note that adding this tag won’t work for texts that have already been copied. Only users who have accounts at FFM will be able to delete them. Each work needs to be deleted manually.

However, the Russian fandom — except for the owner of FFM — strongly condemns reposts without the consent of the author, so feel free to contact our volunteers (through DM or Ask on our tumblr page) providing the links to the works stolen from AO3, so we could delete them for you.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to cover all authors and works manually. So, we contacted AO3’ Technical Team with the aim to bring their attention to this situation and inform about it all AO3 users, and hope that AO3 team will find a general solution to resolve this problem, possibly, in collaboration with the AO3 lawyers.

We are trying to warn as many authors as possible and recently started spreading this information via comments on AO3; but considering the number of works copied to FFM informing all authors will take considerable time, and we can easily miss someone, especially since the copying is still in progress and new works from AO3 are appearing on FFM every day.

Please help us spread the word!

Q: Can I check if my work was copied to FFM?

A: Yes, you can.

FFM makes money on Google and Yandex ads, so we recommend turning on the Ads Blocker of your choice before visiting this site.

Please follow this link, insert the title of your work or your AO3/other web-archive nickname into the field containing the words "insert-title-nickname" and hit "Искать" (Search).

For works rated Mature or Explicit you will be able to see only the caption "Текст произведения доступен только зарегистрированным пользователям старше 18 лет" ("The text of the work is available only to registered users over 18 years old"), but FFM users are able to read and download the story.

Q: My work from AO3 was copied. How can I take it down?

A: First of all add the tag "Don't copy to another site" (without “ “) to the stories you want to be taken down.

Actually we would recommend adding this tag to all the works you don't want to be copied.

Contact one of our volunteers (through DM or Ask on our tumblr page) providing links to your works or send an e-mail with your deletion request directly to the FFM owner at [email protected] or at AO3.

There is a third option: to register on FFM and delete the work yourself by hitting the refresh button, but considering that the site is in Russian we do not think it will be very convenient to those who do not speak Russian language.

Q: I got the message that my work has been deleted. How can I check if it is true?

A: You can go to FFM, search for you work, click on its title and scroll down.

After the summary there is a field that should look like this for those fics that have been deleted.

Basically it says that the author of this particular work has forbidden its copying and that only the information on its title, author’s nickname, rating, pairings, summary and the link to original post on AO3 are available.

For works that are still available on FFM this field looks like this (if the work is open for non-registered users).

Q: My work copied from AO3 was deleted, but FFM still shows some information on it. Can it be deleted?

A: Even though the text of the fic is not going to be on FFM anymore after it has been deleted, the fic's title, author's name, rating, pairings, summary and link to original post on AO3 will remain there.

The deletion of this leftover information can be done only by the site owner himself.

Some Russian authors tried to make him to delete it, but in most cases the FFM’s owner refused them mentioning that publication of such information is in line with fair use concept and doesn’t violate authors’ rights.

We are yet unsure how to delete this leftover information. In case you need it as well, try contacting the FFM owner at [email protected] or at AO3. Maybe e-mails of a large number of authors will work, but unfortunately we can’t guarantee anything. In case you need it, we can provide Russian text for you to send by e-mail (please contact our volunteers through DM or Ask on our tumblr page).

Q: My work from fanfiction.net/fictionpress.com/fanfiktion.de/other web-archives was copied to FFM. How can I take it down?

A: Unfortunately, there is no possible way for us to delete from FFM the fanworks that are copied from web-archives other then AO3. Only FFM’s owner can delete these works, please try contacting him at [email protected] or at AO3. In case you need it, we can provide Russian text for you to send by e-mail (please contact our volunteers through DM or Ask on our tumblr page).

Please do not delete your works from the web-archive it was stolen from, because if the work is deleted it will be nearly impossible to delete it from FFM.

Hi, star-anise. Would you mind giving me some advice? Recently there's a homophobe in my local fanfic community. She tries to indoctrinate people with homophobia. She demonizes yaoi, calling it sinful etc. She demonizes genderbend fics, calling it LGBT Agenda™️. She is undeniably queerphobic, not just about fiction. Apparently she's a part of fundamentalist cult. Also, she's a known serial harassers who habitually harass BL/slash writers. What do you suggest we do?

Damn, that sucks!

What kind of fannish infrastructure do you guys have? That is, do you all just hang out on the AO3 category/main Tumblr tag, or do you have things that you can control the membership of?

1. Encourage a positive fannish atmosphere - Decide on a core set of principles, or guidelines of behaviour, you want to encourage in fandom, whether that’s “Hate-Free” or “LGBT-Positive”, or put in rules like “No Homophobia, No Harassment”. Post things about the importance of representation and LGBT pride, or about the importance of fans treating each other respectfully. Try to build a culture of acceptance and inclusion that’s so lively and engaging that when she spews bullshit, it’s obvious a dissonant note.

2. Build fannish infrastructure - A fandom can just be the AO3 feed and a Tumblr tag. But the more you actively build spaces and institutions, the more you can shape the culture around it. For example, you can create a secondary fannish hashtag on Tumblr or Twitter where everyone hangs out and socializes, like #inclusive[fandom] or #hatefree[fandom] or #[fandom]rainbow, so someone who checks out the main fannish hashtag will see that many cool creative people are talking in this LGBT+-friendly space. You could use that tag on AO3, too.

Other types of fannish infrastructure: Rec blogs, ficathons, gift exchanges, theme weeks, podfic exchanges, Discord servers, or remix challenges. Give all of them an anti-harassment policy, for example, “This blog will not rec any work by a user who has harassed another fan in the last 6 months”, that both let you enjoy fandom without her, and give her an incentive to stop harassing people.

3. Make consequences happen - If she’s part of any group space you can control the membership of, use those rules or principles to kick her out. If people aren’t willing to kick her out permanently, then decide on a length of a ban, like 3 days, a week, or a month. Every time she says something bigoted? Kick her out. This might not stop her so much (I recommend a “3 strikes you’re out” policy to keep it from being a revolving door ban), but it will send a strong message to onlookers that this shit won’t fly, and they’ll get used to what things are like with her gone.

If your common fannish space moderators won’t do that, get rid of them, or find a new fannish space. Seriously. If a moderator won’t set rules for basic good behaviour, or get rid of a toxic troll who constantly breaks them, they are of no use whatsoever.

If you can round up proof of her harassment or homophobia, you could also report her to the websites she uses. Twitter has a Hateful Conduct Policy and abusive behaviour policy, harassment and hate speech are against Tumblr’s Community Guidelines, and AO3 has a Harassment Policy. All these sites’ policies also forbid making extra accounts to get around a block. It’s really tedious, but for a long time now I’ve kept a folder in my computer where I keep screencaps of fannish abuse, harassment, or hate speech, in case I need to make a report or go, “Hey, the user you banned previously? They’re back using a new account.”

4. Help keep everybody safe -Let everybody know that blocking, reporting, and ignoring abusive users is the best way to go. Make that knowledge as easy for new users to find as what the shipnames are and who makes the best fanart. Teach people how to filter post content on Tumblr, remove certain users from AO3 searches (type -“creators: username”), or subscribe to a Twitter block list.

5. Forgiveness is optional. Good behaviour is not - You can keep giving her chances to change if you like, or you can just cut her off. If she promises she has genuinely changed and really wants another chance, it’s up to you whether to give it to her--you don’t owe her forgiveness. If she really wants a “fresh start” she can go find another fandom where she hasn’t already hurt people.

On the other hand, harassing her or sending her abusive messages isn’t okay. One of the sad realities of the Internet today is that if you name someone for bad behaviour, various people will take it upon themselves to target that person for harassment and abuse. Therefore, naming and shaming isn’t a great first line of defense because it’s so likely to have negative consequences. See what you can do first about making your fandom resilient against her bullshit, and removing her from your spaces, before doing it. Sometimes it is necessary to have a Canonical Callout Page explaining why everyone should block this person, or to have someone keeping tabs on her who can let everyone know if she’s renamed or changed accounts. However, that’s kind of a “if all else fails” scenario. Hopefully, you shouldn’t need it.

Frequently Asked Questions

When and How Can I Share My Card?

You may share your card as soon as you receive it on whichever social media platform you choose.

Please wait to share any creations you make from your card until the Posting Period has opened (either July 1 or January 1, depending on which round of Bingo you are participating in).

Can I cross off items on my bingo card as I complete them once posting begins?

Yes, absolutely! In fact, I encourage you to! That’s an excellent visual way to keep track of where you are in completing bingo, and it’s super satisfying every time you complete a project and get to cross a square off!

What counts towards completing a square?

A piece of fiction that is 300 words or more and is complete.

A completed sketch, painting, watercolor, etc.

A Mood Board, aesthetic collage, manip, or other image editing that fits the prompt and represents at least an hour’s work.

Music playlist with a header (can be as simple or elaborate as you wish) and at least 10 songs. Can be shared through Spotify or other music streaming service as long as it is shareable through tumblr or twitter.

Themed fic rec list with a header (can be as simple or elaborate as you wish) and annotations. Annotations should include commentary on how you approached creating the list and a note on each story recced, explaining why you’ve included it. Each rec list should have at least 8 stories linked and should include a summary and a listed author with a link to their AO3 profile or other social media (if the work has not been orphaned or posted anonymously) for each listed rec.

Podfic of a story no shorter then 900 words

Photograph(s) of Funko pops or other toy representations of Spider-Man, Deadpool, and associates acting out a scene that represents a square (Ex: Knitpool, Avengergram).

FanVids: Cosplay or Stop-Motion Animation Videos, Clip Music Videos, AMVs, Animatics, Fake Trailers, etc. Videos should have a run time of at least 2 minutes and be shareable on the blog.

I’m in multiple Bingos. Can I make something for both events at once?

As long as the thing you are creating for your Spideypool Bingo follows the rules of this fest and only counts as ONE square on your Spideypool Card, it is acceptable to have that same thing count as a different square on a Kink Bingo or Fluff Bingo, or whatever other Bingo you’re in. Make sure to check the rules of the other event(s), though. Not all Bingos allow event crossovers.

If you are using your creation for multiple Bingo events, please make sure to make it clear which square of the Spideypool Bingo card you are filling separately from any other Bingo event. Please also do not include the other Bingo’s information on your submitted post for the Spideypool Bingo blog (meaning if you are posting card updates with your submission, do not include the other card(s) in the post you submit to be promoted on the Spideypool Bingo blog. I don’t mind promoting other events on this blog, but that could easily get confusing for anyone following the blog).

Can I collab with someone else?

Yes and No.

Yes: An artist and a writer have corresponding prompts on their bingo card that they would like to work on together, ie. Crying into Ice Cream. Writer writes a fic involving Crying into Ice Cream, Artist draws a piece of art to coincide with that story. The artist may post their piece with a link to the story, and the writer may embed the piece of art into their story, as long as each person creates something individually that represents their own bingo square, this collab is within the rules.

No: Two artists or two writers create one piece together that they each count towards their own bingo card square.

No: Two people share One bingo card.

This isn’t a competition—and never will be as long as I am running it—but sometimes people get competitive all on their own, and I don’t want any hurt feelings if someone starts thinking that a collab team has an unfair advantage over individual creators in completing bingo faster. It might sound silly to you, but I have seen people become genuinely upset because of this scenario in the past, and I do not want anyone participating in this bingo to feel the same way.

What happens if I never get a bingo?

Absolutely nothing! This is not a competition. You do not have to complete bingo in order to proceed to the next round. If you get a bingo card and never complete a square, you will still be able to participate in the next round, no questions asked, no judgements made. I'm not keeping score of how anyone participates, nor do I want to.

Can I create podfics of other people’s works as long as I have permission from the writer(s)?

Yes, but you need to have proof of the writer(s) permission. As someone who has had their works plagiarized and posted without their permission, I take consent in sharing other people's work very seriously. Make sure you ask and get an enthusiastic consent prior to recording, please.

I don’t understand what ______ is…

Please google the prompt before you ask me what it means. 90% of the prompts people have asked me about have been easily google-able. I don’t mind helping you understand what a prompt means if it's confusing after you've looked it up, but please take that step first.

Changes to your card should be about what makes you uncomfortable, not what you don’t think you can fill Right Now. You have six months to work through your card. A prompt might not spark anything for you now, but come August or October? BAM! Genius idea you would have never thought about if you switched that prompt now. Bingos are just as much about challenging yourself creatively to work outside your normal box as they are about getting you making. Punch your way out of that box, y’all. It’s what Wade would want you to do.

2. Two Very Different Men — Mirrorverse Spirk. Enemies-to-lovers angst with a happy ending. @notants did some beautiful art for this too 💛

3. “Courage, dear heart.” — Spock has ASMR. Jim is his favorite trigger. Ace!Spock is one of my favorite Spocks. Also an amazing podfic recorded by @eunyisadoran. Her Jim voice is so good it’s uncanny 💛

4. A little bit of grace (for me and for you) — I’m so proud of this story. Jim is a Mexican-American teenager; Captain Pike asks Spock to give him somewhere to stay for a few weeks during the summer. A friends-to-lovers slowburn.

5. Does liking AOS Kirk make me a bad person? — An essay about why I still like New!Jim despite his many flaws.
