Walking down my street back to my house, I pass what is clearly a very loud, very drunken teenage house party. They're jumping up and down outside, in their Halloween costumes, in the pouring rain, screaming out the lyrics to Mr. Brightside, and hugging and kissing and dancing and laughing, and I had strong flashbacks to about 2004-2008 to teenage Alice doing the exact same thing to the exact same song at various friends' houses every Friday night and life never truly changes and my goodness, it is beautiful.

Looked for love songs and the impactful ones were all sad/about break-ups/relationships that aren't doing well, or for some that's what I associate them with. Sous les brûlures by Mlle K, Mr Brightside, Comme d'habitude, Dis quand reviendras-tu, those are Not about being happy in love with good relationships. Also honourable mention to Mon père était tellement de gauche, which isn't a romantic love song but about the singer's dad ("My father was so left-wing") and it's absolutely about loving his dad. Let me tell you those last lines, Mon père était tellement de gauche que quand il est parti la gauche est partie avec lui (he was so left-wing when he passed the left went with him) hit so hard as someone who loves her left-wing dad and cries if she thinks about her parents dying more than in passing. Like it's not romantic but that's love dude, that's love! Loving your dad so much, joking about him being super left-wing (when the wall fell he went and bought bricks etc) and then ending it on a serious note and I just - love song in my heart if not in technical romantic terms.
