I made myself a challenge. The challenge was to make 150 bookmarks for a friend’s wedding. Challenge accepted! The deadline was September 24, 2022. This was a real challenge for me. I don’t normally work with crochet with thread and I needed to do 150. First I was like okay I can do this. But as we all know half way through we get tired of the project and want to do something different. But I buckled down and got it done. Day 6 of #amigurumay2020 - Stripes! While looking through my works, I realized that I haven't done many stripey projects at all! So I whipped up a pair of bumblebees for today's prompt! Even though I don't do much work with stripes, colour changes are super important to a lot of characters that I make! Getting a nice smooth colour transition is crucial to a lot of my detailing so I actually use different colour change techniques to achieve the look I want! The bee on the right uses the standard colour change technique of simply half-colour changing the stitch before the colour change! But I find this gives the colour change a very jagged effect. The left bee uses the half-colour change technique in all stitches on rounds before actual colour changes! This technique is a little slower to work up, but is super effective and gives a super smooth transition with absolutely no seam! This is my favourite method and well worth the extra effort!
