It is good Friday today. So what's so good about death? Jesus death saw the fulfillment of old testament prophecy. The lamb of God, slain for the world was Jesus, crucified for us. His death, brought us life. Jesus death marked the end of the old ways. God no longer requires blood sacrifice. The old ways are gone because of Jesus crucified. That hopefully answers that one. Why then must I be crucified with Christ? The simple answer is this. In order for the old ways in us to die, we must nail them to the cross with Jesus. This is symbolic of course. But when we confess with our mouths and believe in our hearts that Jesus Christ is Lord, we are doing just that. The old ways are gone! A new life in Christ has come. I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I that lives, but Christ that lives in me. This is what Paul is saying in today's scripture. Two more questions, one that only you can answer. “For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin—because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.” (Romans 6:6-7)

Your old self is crucified to that cross so get back up and work to be a better you each and every time.

We’re all going to fall into sin and temptation, repeatedly. What God did—sending His One and Only Son to die as a Sacrifice to save us from our sins is in vain unless we trust that we’re already forgiven.

This doesn’t mean we can do whatever we want but it means that when we repent we can rest in the fact that Jesus already died for us once and for all. Even when we don’t feel forgiven, He already forgave us. He doesn’t want us to feel unforgiven. He wants us to trust Him. To trust in His Mercy and Forgiveness.

It’s never to late to turn back to God. His forgiveness is for those who repent. For those who believe in Him and are truly sorry for their wrongs. But no matter how wrong, Jesus still forgives.

“‘Even now,’ declares the Lord, ‘return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning. Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.” (Joel 2:12-13)

God’s lovingkindness is relentless. His Love and Grace know no bounds. His mercy and forgiveness are unconditional.

In Jesus’s death and resurrection, we’re forgiven and He is glorified.

Our job is to spread the Good News which reveals His Glory to those who believe.
