The fact that Lloyd canonically is a fantastic pickpocket means so much to me.

Examples: taking Soto's fork leg in Skybound & stealing the handcuff keys from Harumi in Crystalized.

Like, obviously it's from Darkley's, but it's still just so cool and would love to see that being implemented more in the show.

Chibiusa is a character that is really a study of the complexity of being a kid who parents are highly respected and well known( example a celebrity kid) and are expected to follow in that parents footsteps . Which the pressure by others really falls heavy on the kid which the kid feels like they can't do or have the success their parents had. It really also hammers down the complexity of a mother and daughter relationship where the daughter looks up to her mother but also have some resentment towards her which she also feels like she can't never be the lady that her mother is and was. That she feels like her mother is untouchable and unattainable because she know exactly what her mother have done and have countinue to do. Which she feels like she can never follow her footsteps and continue her legacy.. It also shows a kid who is seeing with her very own eyes by her parents, a love story that has transcended over time and obstacles. Which she desire to also have that type of love in her life as well. Which she desire what her dad represents.

But nope

People blow past that and say she just want to f*** her dad....

Dragons Rising Lloyd rant

Okay okay, I think we can all agree that Lloyd in Dragons Rising is done really well, it's his best characterisation yet and it feels like a natural progression of his character in Seabound (not saying crystalized, just no, I hate crystalized Lloyd and a lot of other characters as well)

Wildbrain Lloyd's character was "attempting to be responsible while also being sort of irresponsible at very rare times", that's the vibe it gave off at least

But in Dragons Rising, his character is more of "Responsible and relatively healthy young adult" type, because for all his skills and expertise he is still learning new things, particularly about beint a mentor and Master for Arin and Sora

The most obvious example is not being able to properly grade Arin's and Sora's performances on the Course, he's trying to use Wu's methods but it's ultimately not working as well as he had hoped

Most importantly tho about his characterisation though is that... He's just having fun

Like no really- in most times where he's surrounded by the ninja or Arin and Sora, you can see the smile on his face, and the occasional chuckling as well, it's not that big of a detail but it just, such a brilliant detail in my opinion!

Because although it doesn't say it, it shows us that Lloyd has grown A LOT in the years since (and probably before) the Merge.

You know it sort of almost feels alien, seeing him go from his angry, and somewhat snappy self in Crystalized (weather his anger was justified or not in some situations is a topic for another time), to his... Much calmer, relaxed and stress free self in Dragons Rising.

And seeing him acknowledge how he and the other ninja were sometimes a pain in the ass for Wu, and understanding where Sora and Arin are coming from when they snuck out to the Crossroads Carnavel is just such a fantastic way of actually showcasing his character

Because yes while Arin and Sora disobeyed him, he and the others disobeyed Wu as well, a LOT more Arin and Sora currently

And the best part is, it all worked out in the the end, since they ended up busting Dorama's operation

TL;DR

Dragons Rising Lloyd is a perfect example of how you should further progress an old character in new intertsing and natural ways, either directly and obviously through dialogue and tone and method of speech, or through indirect and subtle ways such as small details and expressions

I reblogged about this on another person's post, but it's too important to me to not have my own post about it.

I'm hearing that some people might be coming for Crystal Palace of Dead Boy Detectives for "getting in the way" of Charles x Edwin, i.e. Payneland.

Let's be clear. I adore angsty friends to lovers as much the next hopelessly romantic queer (sort of) guy. But what we're not going to do is become yet another fandom that denigrates a female character because we see her as an obstacle to a mlm ship. It honestly kind of triggers me, and it can never not feel at least a little biphobic to me. I am sure that is not the intention of the vast majority of people with this take, but that's just what my past experience in the numerous fandoms that have done this makes me jump to first.

I want us to think about this. If Charles is currently or eventually in love with Edwin back, he will be confired bisexual, or some other non-monosexual identity, or just fucking queer and vibing. And that means his attraction and feelings for Crystal, and their ship, should be respected as a part of his story and the story of the show. Let a girl live. Don't erase Charles's attraction to women, and leave space for non-monosexual identities. Let's all be mature queers about this, and breaking the fucking cycle.

We're not about to tear a bestie down just so our male leads can kiss. We're better than that. I hope we can be better than that.

Everyone shut up its Clem and Crystal appreciation hours

RANTING about them in the au because heheheheheouhohoh

Clem and Crystal's relationship has definitely gotten stronger as the years have progressed. Through thick and thin they've been with eachother, and they're practically inseparable at this point.

Crystal spends most of her time specializing in levitation! When she first showed up she interned with Milla. As she went through her internship, it was kind of obvious how much her mental health was affecting her psychic abilities. Her levitation suffered the most, since we know that in order to levitate, you need help from your positive thoughts! But, we all know Crystal's thoughts tend to be... Not-so-positive. Of course, Milla was concerned when she caught notice of how her intern literally could not summon a levitation bubble some days, let alone stay in the air for long enough.

Milla decided it'd be best if Crystal was held back for a little bit, and that was when Crystal decided to try and take better care of herself and expand her Psychic abilities. She was able to develop her levitation ability to whole new level! She's able to glide around on little levitation bubbles below her feet, similar to roller blading. It's made her able to reach unimaginable speeds and jump incredibly high. In terms of mental health, she's made a great improvement! She still has small issues with anxiety, which makes gliding a little more difficult, so she wears some special earrings Franke made with psi-tanium beads to help keep her mind focused.

When Clem first showed up things were a little more rough. He ended up with Hollis as a mentor, and he suddenly seemed to develop some sort of strive to empress. He was always willing to help others, lending a hand in homework, picking up people's assignments when they couldn't, always there to cheer people on! Unfortunately while he did all of this he never really got the chance to take care of himself. And despite his happy go lucky personality on the outside, this kid had a lot of pent up rage and other unsavory emotions held inside.

In fact, he became quite the impressive marksman as he got older! He has a bunch psi-blast variants that he's developed.

He's still a little bit of people pleaser much to his dismay, smiling through gritted teeth and clenching his fists so hard the knuckles pop. Just be glad you aren't a squirrel passing by when he decides to practice his new marksmanship methods.

Crystal and Clem are incredibly close. Even through their toughest days, they know how to make the other smile. Clem knows how to make Crystal smile when she cries, and she knows how to make him laugh when he wants to blow something up.

They are still loud and obnoxious at times, although they seem to be somewhat aware of it now. So? They do it on purpose :) they're goober like that!

I've come to the conclusion that 90s Toei did not understand the assignment when writing Mamoru's character.

90s anime Mamoru is uh very inconsistent. Admittedly I'm only on episode 64 but come on. He's just so... different. Like one minute he's his kind princely self and the next he's insulting Usagi and breaking her heart. His communication is awful.

Like I'm not kidding when I say I've seen more toxic Mamoru traits than good. And that's not necessarily cuz they made him that much of a douche. Its because they won't let him be happy with Usagi for more than a singular episode. He's either brainwashed and beating the crap out of her or overreacting to things for no reason and hurting her. But yea he's also just kinda a jerk.

Another thing. Mamoru was a high school student. He'd wait for Usagi so they could meet before school. HE'S NOT THAT MUCH OLDER THAN HER. It borderlines on creepy that Mamoru is already in college while she's a 2nd year in middle school. Like- they have nothing to relate to other. I'm surprised they even encounter each other as much as they do. 90s Mamoru has to be a lot older than manga Mamoru by the end of series. That's when he's supposed to be in college. Just yeesh.

And what's with them not showing his connection to the Four Kings?? They're supposed to be a lot closer to him than they were in this anime. He barely has the powers that he's supposed to have and he might as well just be a normal human because his incredibly strong connection to the Earth is nonexistent.

Maybe they explore that in the Dream arc further but tbh I'm not even sure it will be the arc I know it to be. Black Moon arc is already nothing like the one I know. Which idk why I'm still surprised by this. I'm not watching this for manga accuracy.

Of all the shelved ships of lookism I think Eli x Crystal and Luah x Johan could still be re-explored in the future as true friendships, really. Just that friendship alone will still be good.

I mean, why not?

Eli was abused by his stepparents because his beauty made them see him as a monster, and Crystal's beauty and brain were utilized by her dad to expand his business empire. They were saddled with too many responsibilities on their shoulders, and Eli crumbled and resorted to crime because of it while Crystal was coping with the pressures by working so hard. Aren't these some points that they could talk about someday?

Then Luah, who was a wounded (and abused?) runaway child and found by Big Deal, and Johan who went through a similar ordeal? Aren't they both lonely while they tried so hard to stay independent? Aren't they people who would forsake basic comfort just to survive?

Or better still, maybe make all four of them good friends someday? Now how about that?

Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy reading the fight scenes so much but some more humane moments will be good.

Small rant about colonialism and Israel's genocidal campaign

The fact that people continue to support Israel when there are PICTURES of what the hell is happening in Gaza disgusts me.

A four-day ceasefire isn't enough, it needs to be a permanent ceasefire.

I don't even want to think about what will happen when the ceasefire ends...

The dead children, the mothers, the fathers, the sisters, the brothers, the friends...

And then the videos and photographs of the civilians..

All the heartbreaking images I seen, it's permanently in my mind.

I just though of something while watching Eternal...

Just stay with me on this.

Could Queen Nehellenia be the first Incarnation of Chaos?

We know she's an incarnation of Chaos but could she be the first?

The first one that Chaos made before the others?

Follow me on this.

Now in Sailor Moon Stars Manga, we found out that Queen Serenity travels to the Cauldon.

Which QS held a star near her breast which that Star becomes Serenity.

Now lets go to the flashback scene in Dream Arc/ Eternal Movie when they are in the Kaleidoscope and QN is showing them.

They are having Serenity's celebration of her birth and QN shows up. We all know this is a motif to Sleeping Beauty and people have said that QS and QN could be sisters per se since both sides represent light and dark. But do you think it's pretty interesting after Serenity is born which we know she's born from the Cauldon that QN pops up all of sudden from the mirror? And the fact we know that Chaos is from the Cauldon as well thanks to Sailor Moon Stars? Even tho it was never a star but it created dark stars? aka Queen Metalia, Death Phantom, Pharaoh 90, and Queen Nehellenia?

Then what Sailor Mars said

Pretty much calling her the embodiment of evil , that she enter the planet and no where knows where she came from.

We know that chaos is the embodiment of darkness and evil.

Look what QN says

THE CAULDRON!!!

From Wikimoon " Nehellenia asked Serenity to join her instead, mentioning that they had both originated from a distant place, possibly meaning the Galaxy Cauldron."

Then what QN says about darkness.

QN and Chaos is darkness and Queen Serenity and Princess Serenity/Usagi is light.

And the fact we know in the manga in Stars that Chaos and Serenity are kin and will always be fighting one another some kind of way to keep blance.

Which QS takes QN out with the Sliver Crystal which sends her back into the mirror.

Which Chaos with their incarnation been trying to get their hands on for thousand plus years.

And just listen to QN curse

I know that Sailor Saturn hit the hard reset button after everyone was killed to destroys everything and everyone get reincarnated and Mic said this

What is Queen Metalia?

A incarnation of Chaos that was from the Sun which the Sun is a Star.

What is Queen Nehellenia?

Also an incarnation of Chaos from the dark side of the moon which possibly could be the first one Chaos made.

Does this possibly make QN the first incarnation that Chaos made which Queen Metalia was the second to get revenge?

The concept of the overlord always confused me.

He is described as darkness and evil itself. While I have no problem with an unsympathetic villain, the plot of Ninjago has always focused more on a sense of balance especially in the later seasons such as the existance of the Oni and Dragons. So I find it very hard to accept that they make the Overlord a primordial being representing everything evil when the Oni already exist representing destructon- not that Oni are evil (Mystake I love you) but they already represent a side considered dark.

Yes, I know that the Overlord is an already established character from the very first seasons of Ninjago so even if they wanted to change what they said about him, it wouldn't be easy but I wish they involved a backstory for him? Not really but c'mon Ninjago- give me more than just a simple "I was born from darkness"

WHY...WERE YOU BORN FROM DARKNESS? Were you the previous "God" of Ninjago before the first spinjitsu master came? Was Ninjago that "evil" of a realm that the overlord came into being? Did the first spinjitsu master make some big mistake for you to manifest?

(After asking myself that question I went to the wiki and saw that the overlord was born out of darkness because Ninjago was created so what if because of FSM's desperation to make a peaceful world he didn't know th consequemces to that and then the overlord came into being. Man I wish this was canon and they explained it in the show....)

Did you create Wojira or were YOU her? I don't know give me something especially with how complex Ninjago made the Dragon and Oni lore :((((

This is probably Crystalized's fault for messing up the lore so much but I persinally like making sense of canon even when it DOESN'T make sense overall- I mean fanfics and headcanons exist!!!

Continue if you want Headcanons that possibly- most likely don't make sense. They're just Ideas that I thought of that seem cool.

1. Personally, I like thinking that the Overlord is the Oni's leader and not that pushover Oni Lloyd and Garmadon fought in March of the Oni. Like, the Oni migrated right? There were no more Oni in the first realm when the Ninja came and clearly they left a long time before season 9 happened.

Ooohh what if March of the Oni happened cayse the Oni were trying to prepare for the Overlord.

I know this headcanon makes it look like I'm saying the Oni are a one dimentional race but it's just cool if both Oni and dragon (cause there's ultra) came to Ninjago to look for FSM anf while Oni were missing (?) the dragons befriended his sons. Idk it sounds cute.

2. I noticed while watching some Ninjago clips that the Overlord looks like a combination of a dragon and an Oni, like a dark dragon. I mean that's what he transforms into in season 2- Maybe this is why the Dragon and Oni were so desperate to get the FSM on their side cause before him the Overlord came, decided he woke up on the wrong side of the bed, nearly destroyed both species and then they banished him somewhere else.

Oh? You're saying I'm giving a supposedly unsympathetic villain a backstory when he isn't meant to have one? Ya so what? It's an interesting take if I do say so myself even if the FSM lore we're given contradicts me

I hope you can tell J like making bavkstories for no reason😭
