Dall Sheep - August 2023 Denali National Park exists because of the Dall Sheep. They were being hunted almost into extinction before the park was created. They have rebounded and are now a stable part of the park. The one problem with the Dall Sheep is that they tend to stick to the high rocky peaks rather far from the road which goes through Denali. These two Dall Sheep were probably two or even three miles away. I had to run my zoom to the full 2000m setting and steady my camera against the exterior of the bus in order to get this image. I took several other images of Dall Sheep, but they were just too far away for a decent image. MWM

Comment: Denali (former Mount McKinley - 6190m high) is s huge mountain if you stand in front of it! It appears bigger than Mount Everest (8849m high) which is already on a high plateau (Himalaya - over 5100m above sea level). Denali is only on a plateau of 600m - which means you really look at a 5600m high and big piece of rock.
