So I was rewatching DBZA and caught a funny joke in the Android/Cell saga where the punchline is that Piccolo doesn't know what marijuana is, and it was hilarious.

But that got me thinking: how old was Piccolo (Piccolo Jr. specifically) when the androids attacked? I ran the numbers

Piccolo Jr was "born" on May 9th in Year 753

The Android Saga and Cell Games took place in May of Year 767

767 - 753 = 14

Piccolo Jr was 14 YEARS OLD DURING THE CELL SAGA

Then my next thought was "wait how old was he when Raditz came to earth?"

Raditz came to earth and died on October 12th of Year 761

761 - 753 = 8

He was 8 YEARS OLD at the beginning of DBZ?????

To put that in perspective, Gohan was 4 when Raditz showed up.

Piccolo is only 4 YEARS OLDER THAN GOHAN.

Why is Piccolo allowed to roam by himself???? He's a minor

I love translators translating manga directly to English and NOT TRANSLATING THE FUCKING PUNCHLINE OF THE JOKE???

It was supposed to be this:

It’s a play on words that only really works in Japanese, it’s the same exact reason Gohan was even named Gohan. They were talking about lunch and Gohan started laughing so they named him after lunch lol.

He didn’t forget she existed. Goku’s whole schtick is that he takes things at face value. It’s the same as the kissing thing. Goku wasn’t talking about kissing, he was talking about getting fed like a baby bird.

The translators seem to always misinterpret this and it’s getting annoying.
