Paper Making Part 2

After a bit of research I gathered some materials from the local hardware store, came up with some measurements for sheets I could use in my bookbinding, and got to cutting...

I *heavily* stapled a square of wire window mesh onto the frame I had made (half inch square dowl, wood glue, nails), then sealed to block as much of the moisture it would soon be facing.

Next: Making some paper?

not a big fan of deckle/untrimmed fore-edges in general but i especially hate when perfect bound books have faux deckle edges. bitch who are you trying to fool. NOBODY thinks this was printed on paper from a mould and deckle AND it makes it harder to flip through! trim that shit off!!

#the trashcan speaks #devil venerable also wants to exploit the memoir class for evil purposes #like okay often perfect bindings are done by folding the pages into signatures and then trimming the spine edge #so it does make sense that you'd end up with page creep #but fuck page creep all my homies hate page creep #trim! his! ass!#and again. its a perfect bind so i KNOW you have a guillotine #JUST TRIM THE FORE EDGE INSTEAD OF FAUX DECKLING IT

made the spire by fire brisket with a couple minor alterations and it's GREAT although what kind of nonsense is "discard the solids". those carrots are for ME.

#minor alterations are: didn't have garlic powder DID have old bay (welcome to the md bitch) so i used that in the rub #(which is brown sugar paprika pepper salt and garlic powder...so basically old bay and brown sugar)#chicken stock rather than beef bc it's what i had and like who cares #and notably deckle rather than 1st cut bc my usual brisket recipe is deckle and like. it won't slice prettily but it will TASTE better #beer used was a porter. if you're making this in midsummer maybe go lighter but it works here #i should make some roasted potatoes in a bit.

I have not known Peace since I discovered I could make smol books. This is an A7 sized hardback (items for scale) bound in chiyogami paper (the same that I used for binding another yuri on ice fic - this is what I had left over) over 1.5mm board. The insides is recycled paper.

the birth of comets takes place on the tip of your lashes by apollothyme, Yuri/Otabek, 15,622 words/135 pages.

In this fic Yuri has a degenerative eye disease and the fic is about how he navigates his skating career with his loss of vision. Also his relationship with Otabek. Way back when I first read this and recced it on @victorextranikiforov , I said that it reminded me of a Yuri meme that goes “contrary to popular belief I have feelings” and…that is the fic. I strongly recommend!!
