After a bit of research I gathered some materials from the local hardware store, came up with some measurements for sheets I could use in my bookbinding, and got to cutting...
I *heavily* stapled a square of wire window mesh onto the frame I had made (half inch square dowl, wood glue, nails), then sealed to block as much of the moisture it would soon be facing.
Next: Making some paper?

not a big fan of deckle/untrimmed fore-edges in general but i especially hate when perfect bound books have faux deckle edges. bitch who are you trying to fool. NOBODY thinks this was printed on paper from a mould and deckle AND it makes it harder to flip through! trim that shit off!!
