Okok I have a lot and some of them have reasons and some are just because I like it.

Parrot therian Grian is one I've written about multiple times and love. Same with dragonkin Martyn.

I also loveee werewolfkin Ren (sometimes I like the idea that he's a dog hybrid but also just Regular Guy who wears clip on ears and tail to help with species dysphoria.)

Aviankin e1 Scott, he decorates his elytra with shed owl feathers to look like feathery wings.

Cow therian e2 Jimmy, I like to think he makes fake horns and glues them onto his hat. He also likes to wear darker colored shoes to look like hooves.

Back to Grian again I like the idea of parrot therian Grian becoming a Watcher just to get wings and then dipping immediately after (I actually have a fic in my docs with this concept I've been working on occasionally)

Elfkin e2 Scott. He wears those fake elf ear things that you can get on Amazon or Etsy (that I also have to get for myself)

Dryadkin Cleo, she likes to decorate her hair and skin with different plants to give the effect that they're growing from her

Cervitaurkin Gem, she makes or gets an antler headband and/or a deer ear headband

Goat and butterfly therian Doc, he likes to add different modifications on him for all of his kintypes (he also makes things such as mechanical wings or tails etc for the other alterhuman members of the server)

You've gotten me into the idea of humankin e1 Joel and e2 Lizzie it's such a fun idea

Griffinkin Wels and wyvernkin Hels. (Specifically Warcraft wyverns) because I think them being the opposite kind of otherkin would be funny. You get cloned and not only is he evil his kintype is the "opposite" of your own.

Endermankin Xisuma, I don't have any reasoning I just like it

Glarekin Bdubs for pretty obvious reasons. I also think it'd be fun if he was glarekin AND phantomkin. He has to sleep once the sun goes down but You Also Have To Go To Sleep (<- more or less based on my own phantom headcanons where they just try to get you to sleep and that's why they attack when you don't sleep for a while.)

Harpykin False because I think it'd be cool. Her harpy kintype would resemble an eagle

Question, how did you find out you were fairykin and what's it like?

I've understood I might be this when I understood what kin were six years ago. As a kid, I was nicknamed "Tinkerbell" and I am a fan of her, so it is a good reason why. I feel like a fairy mostly during spring and summer so it is seasonal. I've also learnt the hard way, since two years, how I badly need nature and trees as a natural environment so I'm actually dryadkin.

Just spent an hour on Twitter (bad idea due to a pinched nerve in my neck/upper back and it being the middle of the night) trying to explain to two non-indigenous individuals that being otherkin is neither a choice nor is it derived from closed religious beliefs from indigenous cultures.

I don't need anyone's permission to know that my soul is nonhuman. It just is nonhuman, that's all there is to it, you don't need to make a whole big deal out of it. I sure don't. It's part of my spiritual beliefs, sure, but those beliefs don't hinge on that belief, and they don't come from any specific source, nor is it appropriation if my personal beliefs are too close to a closed religion's beliefs.

It does me some good to know though that in my next life, I'm going to be mediating arguments between trees/treefolk and this experience will have taught me the patience I'm going to need. "You think people can be stubborn?" the divine is saying. "Wait till you try to talk a tree out of encroaching on another with its roots." XD

Remember the Mythicals!

This is a somewhat lengthy reminder that could have been shortened to a reply, until multiple mythological beings came to mind beyond the first handful.

Initially, someone's rant about an encounter with a troll and their responses inspired my thoughts. Such as how if therians were physically their identities that they would not be able to function in the world as they do in human form. This is true, other than for any therians who are of the simian/ape branch of the evolutionary tree.

For those of us who are mythical in identity, functioning in the human world might not be an issue, so long as we ignore various prejudices and fears from the humans. Or that those problems don't exist due to us having never been ‘mythical’ and the human world included our existence within it over the millennia.

Many mythical Otherkin have human-like bodies, in part or in full. Elves are possibly the very first Otherkin of the community, and are the most human-like of all. They could blend into human society without much notice. Functioning in this world would not be an issue. Djinn (and all other fire/air spirits) could blend in well so long as they shape-shifted fully into human form. Maybe the same for nymphs and other nature spirits, but I am not as well-read on them to know their form-shifting abilities.

And then there are those such as myself and my friends. Centaurs, satyrs, fauns, mermaids, selkies, and minotaurs. Some might use the term "hybrid" but I shy away from using it, or even thinking it. Hybrid tends to separate our forms into the things we resemble, instead of simply accepting us as the form we represent by our original type.

Anyway, land-based types shouldn't have much difficulty in a human world. For those of you whose home is in the water, you can at least get tools that are made for underwater use without needing customized equipment.

You dragons? Well, you're all intelligent enough that you could ask (if not intimidate) humans into creating tools you could work with your claws (such as keyboards.) Everything else would probably just as easy to have humans do it for you. I'm sure y'all would like that :-)

If I've missed anyone (and I am quite sure I have) I apologize, because I'm certainly no expert on mythology and have not read & memorized all of the content at theoi.com. Imagine, too, that there are many Otherkin who can fit within something named here (such as the cervitaur, or deer-centaur.) If you like, go ahead and name your mythical kintype which would not have much problem functioning in a human world, or in your own everyday life. Include it in the tags as well :-)
