EDIT: Nevermind! Go get your Discworld books.

There's currently a Humble Bundle for 38 Terry Pratchett books, which, unless I'm forgetting one, is all of Discworld, for $18 minimum. You get a code to redeem them through Kobo. However, it appears all of these books are missing the footnotes, which, as Discworld fans know, are about half the books.

It's possible they're locked up in some feature of the Kobo reader I'm not familiar with, but I certainly can't find it. Maybe think twice before getting the bundle.

EDIT 1:

…wait all the footnotes are in the backs of the books, one to a page, and in some books there are asterisks with hyperlinks where they should be, but in others they're not at all indicated as existing on the pages they should be on. My guess is they're all supposed to have those hyperlink asterisks, because in the books that don't have them the footnotes still have hyperlink asterisks that lead back to the right page.

EDIT 2: HEY I AM BAD AT THINGS AND COMPLETELY WRONG. THEY'RE FINE. In some books the font is smaller (and even that might be a side effect of some weirdness with my computer/running Kobo through WINE) and the asterisks were difficult to see or click on. I am a dumbass. Serves me right for writing up a post before thoroughly investigating. Anyway! Go get your books! They are cheap and not broken! Sorry about that!

why do so many ereaders advertise their bright screens. i thought the whole appeal of an ereader as opposed to using a phone or tablet was that it was gentler on the eyes than other screens in your life

#my old nook was a lot like just looking at a page #idk why i'd want anything else. like #i just want a device thats small. maybe very minor backlight for night reading #i like the idea of physical buttons for page turning so i can lay in one spot and lot move a lot to advance the book #anyway. i dont know if i can justify even asking for it for christmas #since i truly am not an ebook reader i like having a physical book in my hands #but i do like the idea of it also being a fic repository #and i do have seanan macguire ebooks i got in a humble bundle that i'd like ot read #oh and i think stuff by neil gaiman #so. idk.
