The specific process by which Google enshittified its search
Tumblr media
I'm touring my new, nationally bestselling novel The Bezzle! Catch me SATURDAY (Apr 27) in MARIN COUNTY, then Winnipeg (May 2), Calgary (May 3), Vancouver (May 4), and beyond!
Tumblr media
All digital businesses have the technical capacity to enshittify: the ability to change the underlying functions of the business from moment to moment and user to user, allowing for the rapid transfer of value between business customers, end users and shareholders:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/02/19/twiddler/
If you'd like an essay-formatted version of this thread to read or share, here's a link to it on pluralistic.net, my surveillance-free, ad-free, tracker-free blog:
https://pluralistic.net/2024/04/24/naming-names/#prabhakar-raghavan
Which raises an important question: why do companies enshittify at a specific moment, after refraining from enshittifying before? After all, a company always has the potential to benefit by treating its business customers and end users worse, by giving them a worse deal. If you charge more for your product and pay your suppliers less, that leaves more money on the table for your investors.
Of course, it's not that simple. While cheating, price-gouging, and degrading your product can produce gains, these tactics also threaten losses. You might lose customers to a rival, or get punished by a regulator, or face mass resignations from your employees who really believe in your product.
Companies choose not to enshittify their products…until they choose to do so. One theory to explain this is that companies are engaged in a process of continuous assessment, gathering data about their competitive risks, their regulators' mettle, their employees' boldness. When these assessments indicate that the conditions are favorable to enshittification, the CEO walks over to the big "enshittification" lever on the wall and yanks it all the way to MAX.
Some companies have certainly done this – and paid the price. Think of Myspace or Yahoo: companies that made themselves worse by reducing quality and gouging on price (be it measured in dollars or attention – that is, ads) before sinking into obscure senescence. These companies made a bet that they could get richer while getting worse, and they were wrong, and they lost out.
But this model doesn't explain the Great Enshittening, in which all the tech companies are enshittifying at the same time. Maybe all these companies are subscribing to the same business newsletter (or, more likely, buying advice from the same management consultancy) (cough McKinsey cough) that is a kind of industry-wide starter pistol for enshittification.
I think it's something else. I think the main job of a CEO is to show up for work every morning and yank on the enshittification lever as hard as you can, in hopes that you can eke out some incremental gains in your company's cost-basis and/or income by shifting value away from your suppliers and customers to yourself.
We get good digital services when the enshittification lever doesn't budge – when it is constrained: by competition, by regulation, by interoperable mods and hacks that undo enshittification (like alternative clients and ad-blockers) and by workers who have bargaining power thanks to a tight labor market or a powerful union:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/11/09/lead-me-not-into-temptation/#chamberlain
When Google ordered its staff to build a secret Chinese search engine that would censor search results and rat out dissidents to the Chinese secret police, googlers revolted and refused, and the project died:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragonfly_(search_engine)
When Google tried to win a US government contract to build AI for drones used to target and murder civilians far from the battlefield, googlers revolted and refused, and the project died:
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/01/technology/google-pentagon-project-maven.html
What's happened since – what's behind all the tech companies enshittifying all at once – is that tech worker power has been smashed, especially at Google, where 12,000 workers were fired just months after a $80b stock buyback that would have paid their wages for the next 27 years. Likewise, competition has receded from tech bosses' worries, thanks to lax antitrust enforcement that saw most credible competitors merged into behemoths, or neutralized with predatory pricing schemes. Lax enforcement of other policies – privacy, labor and consumer protection – loosened up the enshittification lever even more. And the expansion of IP rights, which criminalize most kinds of reverse engineering and aftermarket modification, means that interoperability no longer applies friction to the enshittification lever.
Now that every tech boss has an enshittification lever that moves very freely, they can show up for work, yank the enshittification lever, and it goes all the way to MAX. When googlers protested the company's complicity in the genocide in Gaza, Google didn't kill the project – it mass-fired the workers:
https://medium.com/@notechforapartheid/statement-from-google-workers-with-the-no-tech-for-apartheid-campaign-on-googles-indiscriminate-28ba4c9b7ce8
Enshittification is a macroeconomic phenomenon, determined by the regulatory environment for competition, privacy, labor, consumer protection and IP. But enshittification is also a microeconomic phenomenon, the result of innumerable boardroom and product-planning fights within companies in which would-be enshittifiers try to do things that make the company's products and services shittier wrestle with rivals who want to keep things as they are, or make them better, whether out of principle or fear of the consequences.
Those microeconomic wrestling-matches are where we find enshittification's heroes and villains – the people who fight for the user or stand up for a fair deal, versus the people who want to cheat and wreck to make things better for the company and win bonuses and promotions for themselves:
https://locusmag.com/2023/11/commentary-by-cory-doctorow-dont-be-evil/
These microeconomic struggles are usually obscure, because companies are secretive institutions and our glimpses into their deliberations are normally limited to the odd leaked memo, whistleblower tell-all, or spectacular worker revolt. But when a company gets dragged into court, a new window opens into the company's internal operations. That's especially true when the plaintiff is the US government.
Which brings me back to Google, the poster-child for enshittification, a company that revolutionized the internet a quarter of a century ago with a search-engine that was so good that it felt like magic, which has decayed so badly and so rapidly that whole sections of the internet are disappearing from view for the 90% of users who rely on the search engine as their gateway to the internet.
Google is being sued by the DOJ's Antitrust Division, and that means we are getting a very deep look into the company, as its internal emails and memos come to light:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/10/03/not-feeling-lucky/#fundamental-laws-of-economics
Google is a tech company, and tech companies have literary cultures – they run on email and other forms of written communication, even for casual speech, which is more likely to take place in a chat program than at a water-cooler. This means that tech companies have giant databases full of confessions to every crime they've ever committed:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/09/03/big-tech-cant-stop-telling-on-itself/
Large pieces of Google's database-of-crimes are now on display – so much, in fact, that it's hard for anyone to parse through it all and understand what it means. But some people are trying, and coming up with gold. One of those successful prospectors is Ed Zitron, who has produced a staggering account of the precise moment at which Google search tipped over into enshittification, which names the executives at the very heart of the rot:
https://www.wheresyoured.at/the-men-who-killed-google/
Zitron tells the story of a boardroom struggle over search quality, in which Ben Gomes – a long-tenured googler who helped define the company during its best years – lost a fight with Prabhakar Raghavan, a computer scientist turned manager whose tactic for increasing the number of search queries (and thus the number of ads the company could show to searchers) was to decrease the quality of search. That way, searchers would have to spend more time on Google before they found what they were looking for.
Zitron contrasts the background of these two figures. Gomes, the hero, worked at Google for 19 years, solving fantastically hard technical scaling problems and eventually becoming the company's "search czar." Raghavan, the villain, "failed upwards" through his career, including a stint as Yahoo's head of search from 2005-12, a presiding over the collapse of Yahoo's search business. Under Raghavan's leadership, Yahoo's search market-share fell from 30.4% to 14%, and in the end, Yahoo jettisoned its search altogether and replaced it with Bing.
For Zitron, the memos show how Raghavan engineered the ouster of Gomes, with help from the company CEO, the ex-McKinseyite Sundar Pichai. It was a triumph for enshittification, a deliberate decision to make the product worse in order to make it more profitable, under the (correct) belief that the company's exclusivity deals to provide search everywhere from Iphones and Samsungs to Mozilla would mean that the business would face no consequences for doing so.
It a picture of a company that isn't just too big to fail – it's (as FTC Chair Lina Khan put it on The Daily Show) too big to care:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaDTiWaYfcM
Zitron's done excellent sleuthing through the court exhibits here, and his writeup is incandescently brilliant. But there's one point I quibble with him on. Zitron writes that "It’s because the people running the tech industry are no longer those that built it."
I think that gets it backwards. I think that there were always enshittifiers in the C-suites of these companies. When Page and Brin brought in the war criminal Eric Schmidt to run the company, he surely started every day with a ritual, ferocious tug at that enshittification lever. The difference wasn't who was in the C-suite – the difference was how freely the lever moved.
On Saturday, I wrote:
The platforms used to treat us well and now treat us badly. That's not because they were setting a patient trap, luring us in with good treatment in the expectation of locking us in and turning on us. Tech bosses do not have the executive function to lie in wait for years and years.
https://pluralistic.net/2024/04/22/kargo-kult-kaptialism/#dont-buy-it
Someone on Hacker News called that "silly," adding that "tech bosses do in fact have the executive function to lie in wait for years and years. That's literally the business model of most startups":
https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40114339
That's not quite right, though. The business-model of the startup is to yank on the enshittification lever every day. Tech bosses don't lie in wait for the perfect moment to claw away all the value from their employees, users, business customers, and suppliers – they're always trying to get that value. It's only when they become too big to care that they succeed. That's the definition of being too big to care.
In antitrust circles, they sometimes say that "the process is the punishment." No matter what happens to the DOJ's case against Google, its internal workers have been made visible to the public. The secrecy surrounding the Google trial when it was underway meant that a lot of this stuff flew under the radar when it first appeared. But as Zitron's work shows, there is plenty of treasure to be found in that trove of documents that is now permanently in the public domain.
When future scholars study the enshittocene, they will look to accounts like Zitron's to mark the turning points from the old, good internet to the enshitternet. Let's hope those future scholars have a new, good internet on which to publish their findings.

It's been a long year and it's only February…
Well, it's time to put this out there: I've had a fairly shitty few years (like, haven't we all, obviously), but it's included a long, expensive legal battle against unscrupulous cysts, which is finally concluded satisfactorily save being left somewhat skint on the other side of it. Doesn’t help that said battle meant that I had to move house - not exactly a low activity on the expense and stress scales…
So I'm looking for extra work, to help while we wait for the Luxury Space Communism to kick in (I'd settle for Universal Basic Income or an end to the Housing and Cost of Living Crisis, tbh).
Things I do to a professional standard include:
Creative Mentoring and Tutoring (writing and performance techniques, especially for poetry - bespoke or standard workshops available for groups as well as one-to-one).
Project Management (feeling overwhelmed by a project you want to get off the ground and/ or run within budget and timescale? I can help with that).
Business Change Management (you need to expand or shift your business focus? I can help that happen in a well-managed fashion).
Performance Poetry (got a bunch of poems, 18 years' experience delivering them live, and a nice voice).
Writing to Commission (especially poetry, but I write both fictive prose and essays too).
Voice Acting and Narration (I've acted in audio dramas and narrated short stories, training videos, and so far one documentary).
Book and Pamphlet Production (I operate a small press).
Basic website setup and maintenance.
Training on any of the above.
I have a sliding scale of rates depending on customer circumstances, and you can book me for a free initial consultation via my website: https://www.fayroberts.co.uk/crass-commercialism/services/
And if you fancy just sending me money because you're generous, I have a ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/fayroberts

Questions for the OTW Board of Directors
There's a Board meeting scheduled for July 2 at 20:00 UTC, and as part of our second call to action, we're asking fans to attend and ask questions about what the Board is doing to fulfill the promises it's made to combat racist harassment on its platforms and make the organization and its projects more welcoming to fans of color.
When asking questions, please be courteous. During the meeting, the Board takes relevant questions about the business at hand and then there's an open question period at the end. Because meetings are only scheduled for an hour, the time for questions is often limited, but if you get yours in before the end of the hour, it should be answered.
There's no size limit to the questions you can ask, but keep in mind that if you ask a multi-part question, you may only get an answer to the easiest part of it, so you might want to keep additional questions in reserve and only ask them once the first one's been answered. If you're afraid of sounding pushy, team up with a buddy and have them ask the follow-up!
Below are some questions that we'd like the Board to answer. Some are topical and some are long-standing issues, but all of them are focused on racism within the OTW and the projects it manages. Feel free to take one to the next meeting copy & paste style, or simply use them as a starting point for your own questions.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Why doesn't the OTW have a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee? Are there plans to create one?
When was the last time you met with the diversity consultant research officer? What did you discuss and what kind of obstacles have they encountered?
What goals do you have for a diversity consultant? What do you hope the diversity consultant will be able to provide?
At the last meeting you said the diversity consultant research officer will be speaking to people within the OTW "so she can get a clearer picture of what OTW leadership and volunteers expect from a consultant, what concerns they have, and what they see as priorities for this work." Are there any plans for the DCRO to speak with fans of color who use the org's platforms, to hear their concerns and get a sense of their priorities for this work?
How has the OTW reached out to fans of color to determine their priorities in making OTW's platforms more welcoming places?
Given the long delay in hiring a diversity consultant, why has the OTW taken little other action on policy changes that don't require a consultant to implement?
How have internal conflicts hampered the OTW's ability to meet the goals set out in the 2022-2025 Vision Statement to prioritize diversity and increase inclusion within the organization?
Why did it take the OTW almost a month to acknowledge the #EndOTWRacism protest?
What can fans outside the org do to help speed along the work of making the OTW a more anti-racist space?
Chinese-speaking Fandom
Why did the OTW shut down the AO3 Weibo account? How was this decision made? Are there plans to reinstate it?
There are allegations that the OTW put mainland Chinese volunteers at risk by deciding to include politically sensitive languages on the Archive, and that a sitting Board member was dismissive of that risk and made inappropriate comments about Chinese-speaking volunteers and fans. What happened and what has the Board done to make this right?
After the sinophobia and racism faced by one of the candidates for the OTW Board in the last election, what does the OTW intend to do to protect future candidates and prevent the spread of racist misinformation about candidates?
Policy & Abuse
How does the Board plan to empower the Policy & Abuse Committee to handle cases of racial harassment?
The May 2023 newsletter reports that the review of AO3's Terms of Service for revisions that would allow Policy & Abuse to address different types of harassment not covered under the current TOS is still in progress, but also that "Policy & Abuse and Legal teams have agreed on some changes about harassment in general, and about works created with the clear intent of making AO3 unwelcoming." What are these changes? When can we expect them to be put into effect?
These are really just a few of the many questions we have for the Board. If you have your own questions, please show up and ask them! But if you can't make the meeting, or don't feel comfortable attending, you can always write to the OTW Board (third option on the drop-down menu) and pose your questions – or any of these! – in a letter.
And if you'd like to be informed of future Board meetings and any actions we plan around them, you can join our mailing list! Just check the "OTW Board Meeting" box.

Mark Antony restores Cleopatra's father Ptolemy XII on the throne of Egypt
After the death of King Ptolemy Alexander in 80 B.C., it was found in his will that he had bequeathed his kingdom to the Roman Republic. His Nephew, Ptolemy XII Neos Dionysos, nick-named Auletes, "The Flute-player," began to negotiate with Rome for his recognition by that paramount Power, having heard that the Senate was not at all inclined to accept the inheritance owing to the disturbances which were certain to ensue if they did. For twenty years and more Auletes reigned on sufferance in Alexandria, always expecting to be deposed by Rome; but in 59 B.C., during the Consulship of Caesar, who was ever in need of money, he managed at last to buy at enormous cost his right to the throne, the will of his uncle being declared invalid.
Tumblr media
In the following year, 58 B.C., however, his own subjects deposed him, mainly because he was so seldom sober; whereupon he went to Rome to attempt to affect his restoration, while his daughter, Berenice, his deadly enemy, reigned in his stead. The negotiations were protracted throughout 57 and 56 B.C.; but at last, having uselessly spent a vast fortune on bribes to the senators, Auletes left Rome in disgust, and retired to Ephesus, in Asia Minor, while, at just about the same time, Queen Berenice married Archelaus, the High Priest of Komana in Cappadocia, who thus became King of Egypt.
Auletes then decided to make a last, desperate bid for his crown. Having obtained letters of recommendation from Pompey, he approached Gabinius, and offered to pay him ten thousand talents if he would lead his Roman legions and Gallic cavalry across the Idumean desert to Egypt and replace him upon the throne, Gabinius, deeply in debt like so many others, was greatly tempted by the money, but was afraid of the dangers of the desert march, and was pretty sure that it would not have the full approval of the Roman public owing to the curious fact that any meddling with Egyptian affairs was regarded as ill-omened. While Auletes was in Rome trying to obtain military aid, the statue of Jupiter on the Alban Hill had been struck by lightning, and when the Sibylline Books were consulted as to the meaning of this sign from heaven, attention was called by the meddle-some Cato to a passage which read thus: "If the King of Egypt come requesting aid, neither deny him friendship nor assist him with any great force". Gabinius did not regard the small army at his disposal as constituting a "great force"; but, at the same time, he was not easy in his mind as to the project.
Antony, however, was all for the campaign; and the exceptional trust imposed in his judgment at headquarters enabled him to carry the day. Perhaps he had met Auletes in Rome and had taken a fancy to the drunken little man, for Plutarch says that he was anxious to do him a service; and, at any rate, Caesar had once befriended him, which was enough for Antony, who was prepared to follow wherever Caesar led. Moreover, there was his share of the ten thousand talents to be considered; and, above all, there was the excitement of the adventure, and, when the job was done, the possibility of some pleasant weeks or months in Alexandria, a purely Greek city, reputed to be the gayest and most luxurious in the world.
Thus, to the unbounded delight of Auletes, Gabinius agreed to help him; and in the autumn of 56 B.C., when the heat of summer was over, the legions were concentrated at Gaza or some such point in the south of Judea, while Antony was sent ahead with his cavalry to cross the desert and to capture the fortress of Pelusium at the Egyptian end of the caravan-road, so as to make safe the route which the legions would have to traverse. Antony performed this task with great credit. Passing through Rhaphia on the sea-coast, the last outpost of Palestine, he probably accomplished in one day the ride to Rhinokolura, the modern El Arish, where water was to be obtained from a well which is still in use. Thence, two days hard riding across the most dangerous and waterless part of the route brought him, probably at nightfall, to Pelusium. Fortunately for him this fortress surrendered after a brief resistance fortunately, because had it held out for long, his men would have soon become the prey of thirst. By his orders the garrison was treated honorably as prisoners-of-war; and here he settled down to await the coming of the main army.
But when Gabinius, accompanied by Auletes, had arrived with the legions, Antony was hard put to it to prevent the dethroned monarch from regarding the Egyptian prisoners as traitors for not having opened their gates at once. Auletes wanted Gabinius to put them all to death; but Antony, with great kindness of heart, pleaded for their pardon and finally obtained it. The whole army then advanced into Egypt, Antony's cavalry leading the way; and in various skirmishes he revealed his personal contempt for danger. In the first pitched battle with the Egyptians the Romans could make no headway until Antony outflanked the enemy with his cavalry, attacked them in the rear, and thus brought about their complete defeat. The advance was then continued towards Alexandria; and on the banks of one of the branches of the Nile, not far from the sea, the main Egyptian army was encountered and routed, Archelaus himself being killed. Here again Antony displayed his humanity; for, after the fight, he sought out the body of Archelaus, and, in spite of the protests of the revengeful Auletes, gave it a funeral with royal honours. The generous gesture after the gallant fight won the hearts of the Alexandrians as well as the Roman soldiers, and Antony is said to have left a shining reputation in Egypt. Cleopatra, now named successor to Ptolemy's throne. Conceivably there is truth in the tale that the susceptible Antony loved the fourteen-year-old princess at first sight.
Thus, in spite of serving under Gabinius, Antony played the most important role in placing Auletes upon the throne.

Guild Structure
Wanted to write a long reply to this post:
Spreading experience around is always awesome! :D
It is good for the firm you are working at as workers perform better.
it is good for whoever is getting taught since they get smarter.
And it is good for the one teaching, both for the pleasure but also because you learn a LOT by being forced to explain what you know to someone else. It crystalizes the knowledge and experience you have acquired, and forces you to go through the basics again, but this time with all your knowledge and experience, you often learn deeper, more complex truths, methods and skills from doing so than it is POSSIBLE to do when you learn them while having little clue what they are ( Function pointers and their safer class versions is a classic for OOP programmers ).
There is a structure a firm can use as soon as it starts having separated departments. Departments, while necessary, makes a firm more segregated, and makes it harder for knowledge to flow around.
It is called Guild Structure Or rather... some important context if you google this: "Guild Structure" is the only way I have heard of it, but "Guild Structure" is also a product from a firm called FourWeekMBA... which is a consulting firm that sells services that firms that is... basically helping them implement these ideas... So you can easily risk finding overcomplicated explanations for what it is, since if they made it easy to understand... then they do not have a product...
And it is super simple. Normal development work for engineers and software is done in smaller teams... usually 4-8 people. sometimes all are in a domain (like software, electronics, finance, marketing, etc), and sometimes mixed. Often... either being mixed, or having several teams with different domains meet relatively often, like several times a month is a good idea. Because it stops misunderstandings from developing, since they are caught early. It is a waste when the software department develops functionality that it turns out no one actually wanted (Which happens... a lot more than anyone likes)
Firms, managers and workers are often afraid to do this. Usually for 2 reasons. One bad, and one that Guild structure fixes. The bad one is not wanting to risk looking stupid in front of other people. When software, marketing and finance people talk about what to develop... each domain is asking questions in a domain they are not experts in. That is the symptom and consequences of toxic firm culture. Talk about it in the open, communication is how you slowly work on and attack this, both in firms and personal relationships. Because they are both about making humans work better together.
The other is a fair enough one. Software people will learn a lot of software tricks that are only helpful to other software people. And if software people are spread around in these teams the knowledge cannot flow very well. Basically, while mixing domains fixed a whole bunch of knowledge flowing issues... it created a new one for domain specific knowledge...
This is where you make guilds. Make public guilds. There are clear lists of the guilds, explanations of their domains and several example for each guild for what kind of domain they are covering.
In some firms, a software guild is enough. In others, embedded software, high level software, front end and back end are different guilds. It depends a lot on the firm.
The guilds have communication between all members ( chatrooms usually ) and meetings every month. They will try to encourage knowledge sharing by giving tools, like shared drives where good guides, tutorials and tricks are shared. Sometimes written by guild members, sometimes found online (If you just had the though "Wait... is that not what Codeblr does?" you have just realized that Codeblr is a naturally formed guild), having people who have good ideas they want to spread give presentations during the monthly meeting, rewarding the best idea of the month. People can participate as individuals, or small groups (Tricks are often found by 2-3 people working together).
Meetings can be physical, or remote, or switch between them, doing both.
This basically solves the issue of knowledge sharing. It also empowers workers while making the firm better. Everyone wins!

On November 1st, I was feeling very bad, but now I'm calmer to share what happened. Recently, I went through another heavy bout of depression. Suicidal thoughts and even attempts, along with a lot of sadness, despair, and so on.
One thing that doesn't make sense is that everything in my life was fine. My only trigger had been a comment from my own son that left me extremely dysphoric. So, I continued my therapy at Casulo (the transgender outpatient clinic in my city) as usual, being honest and open with the professionals there during this delicate time, which coincided with the rib injury I suffered from wearing a binder. Even though I was depressed, I stayed strong in therapy, attending regularly, following the psychiatrist's recommendations to bring my partner for dialogue, and I even started a campaign to raise funds for my surgery. This gave me a boost, and I managed to climb out of the pit, even though my psychiatrist increased my medication dosage.
With the donated money, I was even able to have my first private consultation with the mastologist. As I mentioned before, I had given up on the public health system (SUS) after they lost my medical records from UREDIPE (the former outpatient clinic), and I spent ANOTHER YEAR at Casulo with the count of time RESET.
However, my hopes of getting surgery through SUS were revived last week when, during a consultation with the endocrinologist at the Casulo project, he started the referral process for me to go to Jean Bittar.
I filled out an anamnesis and did the same with the psychologist. When I asked the endocrinologist if he thought I could still have my surgery this year, he said it was VERY LIKELY. He added that on the 1st of the month, I should go to an appointment with the psychiatrist to obtain the last necessary assessment, and then it would be with the social services (to be referred to Jean Bittar). Obviously, I was SUPER HAPPY, thinking that I was going to get my surgery through SUS!!!
I don't know if you can understand how delicate it is to give someone with a dream hope. Especially a dream that directly relates to my mental health, given that the need for this surgery causes me to have very low lows, to become extremely depressed, and to desire to give up on my life!!! These were the hopes that were given to me.
I was so confident that I would have the surgery through SUS that, perhaps those who follow me have noticed, I reduced the promotion of my campaign.
On the 1st, however, when I went to the Casulo project (I had a routine appointment with a psychologist, and theoretically, I was ONLY going to do an anamnesis with the psychiatrist to get my assessment), everything went wrong.
Basically, the argument I heard was that the psychology and psychiatry team understood that I "had just come out of a crisis" and therefore I "needed to get better a little more" before being referred to Jean Bittar (the hospital that performs mastectomies).
You see, as I said, the reason for my crisis was a trigger that made me feel dysphoric. It was dysphoria that made me feel bad, it was the lack of respect and responsibility with MY DOCUMENTS when I was at UREDIPE, it was MY NEED TO HAVE SURGERY that seemed extremely distant.
How could I get better from what hurts before being able to get better from what hurts?? It doesn't make sense. I feel dysphoria about my chest, and this operation is an urgent need that is being neglected and affecting my mental health, but they consider that I FIRST have to get better mentally to have the surgery (????) Obviously, I gave myself the right not to stay in the Casulo office under the extremely stressful conditions that have made me go through this ONCE AGAIN.
The SESPA (the State Department of Health of Pará) should investigate my situation because at this moment, it felt easier to end my life completely; it was my support network that got me back on track!
Even if this "get better a little more" innocently refers to a few weeks, it still shattered someone's expectations in a CRUEL way. I sincerely felt driven to madness, and I left there desolate without even getting to talk to the psychiatrist.
To be honest, I don't even feel like GOING BACK TO CASULO!! Everything is an illusion. A lie. It seems that no one from SESPA or the Government of Pará really cares about the transgender population. We have to accept everything silently and pretend that everything is fine!
How can one stabilize after going through all the necessary consultations at UREDIPE, having my data lost, restarting the count at Casulo, having yet another year of regular follow-up, and finally, after all this time, being referred, only to be told that I "need to stabilize" first????
It's unfeasible. I don't deny the need for psychiatric and psychological care. I don't deny that this goes beyond my gender identity; I talk openly about it every day, I know I'm neurodivergent.
The question is, don't neurodivergent individuals have the right to have surgery as well??? After all, it's dysphoria that's inflaming a mental health condition I already have!!?
I won't allow myself to be silenced or buried by cisgender norms. I will fight for my surgery, by any means it may come.
I KNOW I'm neurodivergent, but I don't have a diagnosis because the psychiatry team doesn't give us diagnoses easily, but it's always easy to incapacitate us and say that we need to "recover from the crisis" before addressing the root cause of the damn crisis.
If I'm not neurodivergent and my crises are exacerbated by dysphoria caused by the need for mastectomy, I DEMAND, at a minimum: the mastectomy.
Now, if I'm neurodivergent and I have a mental condition BEYOND gender identity, I DEMAND my diagnosis and an ACCURATE assessment so that I have a basis for what exactly I'm recovering from, what my condition is, and what rights I have!
Furthermore, I still demand my mastectomy ANYWAY, because it's my right as a transgender person! After all, dysphoria inflames the inherent condition of whatever is affecting my mental health!
You can help me by sharing my case or donating to my mastectomy campaign through PayPal (US donations) (email: [email protected]), donations in BRL through the link https://campanhadobem.com.br/campanhas/mastectomia-e-consultas-do-kaleo

Is it Mandatory to Hire ERP Consultant?
Answer is YES
The Crucial Role of ERP Consultants Why You Need Them Before Jumping into ERP
Embarking on an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation is a significant step for any organization. It promises streamlined processes, enhanced efficiency, and improved decision-making. However, the journey towards successful ERP adoption is laden with complexities and challenges that can derail even the most well-intentioned initiatives. This is where ERP consultants come into play, serving as invaluable guides and partners in the ERP journey. Here's why you need them before taking the plunge into ERP:
Expertise in ERP Systems ERP consultants are seasoned professionals with extensive knowledge and experience in various ERP systems. They understand the nuances of different platforms, functionalities, and their suitability for diverse business needs. Their expertise helps in selecting the right ERP solution tailored to your organization's requirements, ensuring maximum returns on investment.
Business Process Analysis One of the critical aspects of ERP implementation is aligning the system with existing business processes. ERP consultants conduct comprehensive analyses of your current workflows, identifying inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement. They then map these processes to the functionalities offered by the ERP system, ensuring a seamless integration that optimizes operations.
Customization and Configuration No two organizations are exactly alike, and a one-size-fits-all approach rarely yields optimal results in ERP implementation. ERP consultants assist in customizing and configuring the system to suit your specific business needs. Whether it's tailoring modules, designing workflows, or defining user roles, their expertise ensures that the ERP solution aligns perfectly with your organizational structure and objectives.
Change Management and Training ERP implementation often entails significant changes in workflows, roles, and responsibilities within an organization. Resistance to change can impede the adoption and success of the new system. ERP consultants facilitate change management strategies, helping employees understand the benefits of ERP, addressing concerns, and fostering a culture of acceptance and adaptation. Additionally, they provide comprehensive training programs to equip users with the skills and knowledge needed to leverage the full potential of the ERP system.
Project Management and Risk Mitigation: RP implementation is a complex undertaking involving multiple stakeholders, timelines, and resources. Without proper project management, it's easy for projects to spiral out of control, leading to delays, cost overruns, and subpar outcomes. ERP consultants oversee the implementation process from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. They also proactively identify and mitigate risks, minimizing potential disruptions and ensuring a smooth transition to the new system.
Post-Implementation Support The journey doesn't end with ERP go-live. Post-implementation support is crucial for addressing issues, fine-tuning the system, and maximizing its long-term value. ERP consultants provide ongoing support and maintenance services, helping organizations resolve technical glitches, optimize processes, and adapt to evolving business requirements.
In conclusion, ERP implementation is a strategic initiative that demands careful planning, execution, and support. By engaging ERP consultants early in the process, organizations can leverage their expertise to navigate the complexities of ERP adoption successfully. From system selection to post-implementation support, ERP consultants play a pivotal role in ensuring that your ERP journey is smooth, efficient, and ultimately, transformational for your business.

5 Facts About Me
I was tagged by @gloryride thank you so much!! :D
I live and grew up in rural Germany
Always been here, in a tiny town (less than 1000 residents) and everyday really at this point I'm torn about wanting to leave or wanting to stay XD Job opportunities are scarce, the infrastructure sucks, it's an absolute pain in the ass to be this far out and away from bigger cities with so many more opportunities and services (be it something as silly as being able to order takeout or something as serious as finding queer-friendly medical professionals). On the other hand, it's very peaceful here. I'm surrounded by mountains, forests, lakes, I can see so many stars at night, it's amazing. Something in between would be cool, where I get nature but also a little more convenience (a supermarket in walking distance would be the dream, having to rely less on a car to get somewhere in general), but I haven't found that place yet.
I have a cat
Her name is Luna, and she is a feisty little menace and one of the sweetest and funniest cats I've ever known! She's been with me since late 2019, adopted from a shelter where she was notorious for getting into fights with other cats and staff apparently XD When I picked her up the first time she immediately snuggled up to me and gave me lots of kisses xD Could say it was love at first sight really. Also, I leash-trained her and we go on little outdoor adventures regularly (another reason why I'd like to remain living near a place where we can keep doing that).
Tumblr media
Piercings!!
I have 7, 3 in my face, 4 in my ears altogether. And I want moooore, but I'm paralyzed by all the choices :D One I've wanted for a long time is a nose bridge one, and I think it would suit me, but it would also intensify my resting bitch face by 100% so, I'm a little on the fence still xD I might also be a little obsessed with the one my V has on his cheek, because that's one I'd never really seen on a real life person before. They do exist though, as dermal anchors/implants and I think I've also seen pics where they looked like done "regularly", kinda like eyebrow piercings, so more research and a consultation by a professional are required before I settle on anything XD
I studied Computer Science and Media
I never finished my course though, didn't get a degree, and I beat myself up for it for a long time. I quit in the first place because I was so burnt out and depressed and unhappy with everything to do with uni, it really almost killed my creative drive for good. Not only were we constantly told we'd only have a chance in jobs and fields after graduating that sounded absolutely dreadful to me, the faculty itself seemed to make it as hard as possible for us every step of the way to reach the end of the course (from "killer-exams" to get rid of the students only in it with "the wrong intentions", and a horribly disorganized administration that regularly just lost your grades and scores and tried to blame it on you). I'm someone who loves learning, and I loved learning what I did there. I have many amazing memories of people and projects we got to work on. But it's all overshadowed by the awful strucutures in place around it. I'd still like to study something some day, maybe to do with art or history or film or languages... but currently I'm kinda just happy existing and doing things at my own pace, without too much outside pressure to perform.
I work at a supermarket and am a registered freelance artist
I have a stable, permanent, part-time job at a supermarket (the wine and liquors department is all mine to manage basically, and I don't even drink XD but it's a lot of fun there really. Unless when something breaks...)
Money-wise, this job's just enough to not worry too much about life atm, but I wouldn't mind more xD It being part-time gives me a lot of free time I wouldn't have at most "regular" jobs, but rarely having a weekend sucks big time, especially when most of your friends work "regular" jobs.
I'm also registered as a freelance illustrator, and I'd love to get back into the swing of offering commissions again at some point, or building a small creative business somehow that would make the supermarket job obsolete in the end (just havent quite figured out what and how to pull that off, all attempts so far semi-successful XD). But yeh, that's like, the ultimate dream, really. Just making art and living off of it, and still having the time to follow my hobbies and go on adventures with my cat xD Don't need fame or riches, just want a comfortable, happy life bringing joy to others with what I do. And that joy-part, and feeling useful is what's lacking at my current dayjob. It's a job, it pays the bills, it can be fun and leaves a little bit of creativity here and there even... but it's not as fulfilling as I'd wish it to be.
I've seen a lot of people do this already, so I'm just gonna say: if you read this far and want to share some fun facts, consider yourself tagged to make your own 5 facts post! XD

Top Challenges Faced While Implementing Salesforce CPQ
Tumblr media
Salesforce CPQ is one of the widely used Salesforce products used by salesperson to create sales quotes easily and with best efficiency.
However, Implementing Salesforce CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote) is not a simple task and requires domain expertise. Businesses often face several challenges while implementing it. Businesses must always consult with Salesforce CPQ Consulting services providers which can ensure them hassle free and quick implementation. So, In this blog, we are going to discuss about the challenges faced during Salesforce CPQ Implementation:
Data Integration: Salesforce CPQ typically needs to integrate with various data sources, such as CRM, ERP, and pricing databases. Ensuring smooth data integration and data quality can be challenging, especially when dealing with legacy systems.
Customization Complexity: Salesforce CPQ is a highly customizable tool, and organizations often need to tailor it to their specific needs. However, extensive customization can lead to complexity and longer implementation timelines. Balancing customization with out-of-the-box functionality is essential.
Pricing Strategy: Determining the right pricing strategy and translating it into Salesforce CPQ rules and configurations can be complex. You need to consider factors like pricing tiers, discounts, promotions, and bundling while ensuring profitability.
Product Complexity: If your organization offers a wide range of complex products with multiple configuration options, managing and configuring these in Salesforce CPQ can be challenging. It's crucial to have a well-structured product catalog and configuration rules.
Unclear Objectives and Business Goals Alignment: It has been found several times that businesses make the decision of implementing technologies in a rush just looking at the emerging technologies. So, they are not able to properly align their business objectives with the technologies and hence proper tool utilization is not done.
Performance Optimization: As the system grows and more users access it, you might encounter performance issues. Regular performance monitoring and optimization are necessary to ensure a smooth user experience.
Scalability & Flexibility: As the business evolves with the time with product offerings and customer base growing and so the Salesforce CPQ solution should be. A solution that cannot be evolved with the time, literally becomes a liability. So, businesses need to ensure that their Salesforce CPQ implementation can scale with their business requirement.

Testing and Quality Assurance: Thoroughly testing the Salesforce CPQ implementation is crucial to identify and resolve any issues before they impact sales operations. Developing comprehensive test plans and involving end-users in testing are vital.
End User Training: It must be ensured that the end users should receive the necessary training required to handle the tool so that they can work efficiently. In many of the cases, it has been found the end users does not enough training and found technical complexities in using the tool.
Ongoing Maintenance and Support: After the initial implementation, you'll need a plan for ongoing maintenance and support. This includes addressing user issues, updating configurations to reflect changes in pricing or products, and applying software updates.

Is the Kodak Consulting SAP course beneficial? Yes, It is 100% Genuine.
Kinshuk 9.5/10
The SAB ARIBA course has done wonders for me. Although I have been doing vendor management for a few years now, the confidence I gained after completing this course is unbelievable. I have now taken up the additional task of Contract Management. This has already set the ball rolling for a 30% salary hike for me. Thanks Kodak for all your support.
Rustum 9.6/10
I have been part of the Bid Team for several years. But I was at a junior level, not enjoying much. While exploring new possibilities, I learnt about SAP ARIBA in a webinar and enrolled for it. I now thank my stars - the immense knowledge I have gained about the end-to-end bidding lifecycle and the confidence with which I now work on the RFIs and RFPs are all because of this course.
Tony Aruzo 9.7/10
Being a Project Manager for the major part of my career, I started noticing that some of my peers were getting good job offers after completing the SAP PP Course. That’s when I started exploring this course and a reliable organisation from where I could study online to balance with my job. Thankfully, Kodak Consulting fit all my requirements and I enrolled myself without any delay. Just as I had visualized, on completion of the course I have been flooded with offers from MNCs. I shall be joining my new organisation next month.
Mark Finlay 9/10
The SAP PP Course has been a life changer for me. Its well-curated course content tuned to industry demand along with the opportunity to work on live projects and solve real-life case studies helped me get a job as the Sales Head of a reputed organization. This enormous leap in my career could not have been possible without the robust support from Kodak Consulting. Shall definitely recommend them to my peers.
Why Kodak Consulting?
Indeed a very pertinent question. The answer lies in the fact that Kodak Consulting is committed to your success. Powered by its vision of nurturing talents that add value to customer business, the company has garnered a leadership position for itself as an SAP Course training provider. Offering a rich bouquet of 31+ learning solutions across a wide range of domains, they have successfully trained 12K+ professionals. E-learning portal: Access to the e-learning portal containing a wealthy repository of video recordings, assessments, case studies, and other tools to aid your learning process
Exam and Certification: Guidance to help you clear the exam and get certified, a certificate recognised by the Government of India
Placement: Support to get you placed in a reputed organisation once you successfully complete the Certification exam
Am I eligible to enrol for SAP Courses?
Fortunately, there are no specific requirements to be eligible for any SAP course. You simply need to have a graduate degree in any disciple. However, BTech, BSc, or BCom graduates or those with a Master's degree enjoy an edge over others. Knowledge of computers along with domain knowledge in the field you want to pursue the course shall be a bonus for you.
Do SAP Consultants get good salaries?
Undoubtedly, the answer is yes. This is one of the most sought-after certification courses in the market and SAP Certified professionals are in high demand. Statistics show that 80% of Fortune 500 companies are using SAP platforms. Following are some reasons that contribute to the high demand for this elite breed:
Demand-Supply Ratio: The supply of SAP Professionals is too inadequate compared to the demand, primarily because SAP is a technology you cannot really learn at home or office. It is not even taught in colleges. Instead, you need to work on real-life use cases to master the subject. So companies are willing to shell out extra to onboard SAP consultants.
Niche skill: SAP Consultants, technical or functional, possess highly specialized knowledge and expertise that adds value to the business. Realizing their contribution, companies readily agree to offer high packages to generate high RoI from these high-performing talents.
Overall, if you are contemplating going for any SAP Certification course to further your career, you are absolutely on the right track. Look no further…
