A fix-it fic to episode 05x15, Abduction + Memory + Time + Fireworks + Dispersal, because Jack lived and came back to watch over and protect his kids.

ok hi i want to get into ER but honestly mostly to see what the fuss is about Carcy according to you (/gen) so can you recommend to me some essential or fave Carter/Lucy episodes
i’m vibrating violently at this ask just hope u know that.
firstly i’ll say that the lucy era is only from season five up until mid-season 6, so if you’re starting there you’re missing out on a lot!! they are genuinely incredible. but you can probably enjoy these episodes without seeing the rest of the show if that’s your prerogative. sorry if this list is long, it’s also season 5 heavy.
05x05: masquerade. we’re building tension here babey. lucy and carter are caught up in halloween party madness and it doesn’t end well
05x06: stuck on you. more tension!! honestly a lot of the first half of s5 is them bickering and me going KISS KISS KISS. but in this one carter gets his beard stuck in carpet glue. that’s all you need to know
05x07: hazed and confused. incredible episode for the “argues like a married couple” lovers such as myself because that is exactly what they do.
05x08: the good fight. this is THE carcy episode. it’s required reading. they do some crazy shit looking for a girl’s father. carter dislocates some bones. lucy gets referred to as “the missus.” it’s everything.
05x10: the miracle worker. christmas episode!! very funny but also very heartbreaking moments. i don’t know how else to summarize it without giving away too much of the plot so just trust
05x11: nobody doesn’t like amanda lee. more genuine affection. jealous carter. that is all
05x14 & 05x15: the storm part 1 and 2. this is where noah wyle pulled the plug unfortunately and it drives me insane. but there’s some 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨
05x20: power. lucy tries to use pheromones to get carter’s attention. i’m fairly certain this is also the episode where carter’s girlfriend straight up asks lucy if she’s sleeping with him SO.
i think both 05x21 (responsible parties) and 05x22 (getting to know you) touch on lucy’s adhd and her and carter butting heads about her use of adhd meds. lucy’s been on ritalin long term and the show presents this as kind of a bad thing but i don’t know enough about the science behind that to say otherwise, so warning for that message.
obligatory 06x13 & 06x14 be still my heart/all in the family mention. while all in the family makes me sob uncontrollably it is genuinely one of the best episodes of television ever made. it’s so tragic and horrible but like. you can’t Not watch it.
there’s little moments throughout but these sum up most of what makes me nuts. honestly the majority of season 5 is very carter/lucy heavy, pretty much every episode up until the storm is good if u just wanna see their journey but these are my faves. so thank you for asking and indulging me 💔💞

💖 top 5 unhinged rick moments
ashagdkas okay but the way i laughed when i saw this 😂😂
so maybe not all of these can be classified as "unhinged" but it's the controlled chaos that rick exudes practically all the time that helped make up this list... also, none of these are in any particular order except for #1 which is one of my favorite rick moments ever!
01. ripping out joe's throat in 04x16
this is a scene that i think about probably more than i should. and joe really thought he was gonna get the best of rick grimes in that moment when he said his group was gonna "take" carl and michonne and then kill daryl and eventually him and then rick ripped out his throat with his teeth!! this will always be my #1, never to be beat rick grimes moment!
02. the fight with pete in 05x15
lol mans went to town on pete and then drew his gun on the people of alexandria, covered in blood, yelling, "what are you gonna do? you gonna kick me out?!" we LOVE an unhinged man. i also fully support him beating the hell out of pete and, also, him just blowing pete away when deana tells him to in the following episode... *chef's kiss* one less problem to worry about.
03. fully prepared to take out every walker in his path in 06x09
this was right after carl gets shot in the eye and he kind of takes that brief moment to realize that carl is in danger again and that there are still dozens upon dozens of walkers shuffling around alexandria and so with one hatchet in hand, he goes back outside fully prepared to face this horde by himself. like, mans did not give a single fuck in that moment.
04. losing his mind after lori's death in S3
so not a specific episode as it kind of pans out across a number of them and while the lead up to this is brutal, him just running around the prison for a few episodes killing every walker in his path while also seeing lori everywhere and having one sided phone conversations, it was pretty wild to say the least. not to mention when he first meets sasha and tyreese and he freaks out on them after "seeing" lori again... ya know, "what do you want from me? get out!" ooof he was really going through it.
05. the beginning of the ricktatorship in 02x13
this one is relatively tame but i have always, always, always enjoyed the moment where after losing the farm, he tells the surviving group that he had no choice but to kill shane and that if they didn't like it, they could hit the road and see how far they get without him. he then just fully assumes the leadership role by saying, "this isn't a democracy anymore" and basically dares anyone to question it. ICONIC.

Writers really did Blair dirty in s5
*super long post because I’m angry as hell*
There was a time when I thought that season 5 is overhated. I’ve been telling myself that sure, Blair is acting unlike herself but that’s because this season is looking at her from more psychological angle and it’s looking at her character more deeply.
But then I’ve rewatched it and I’ve realized that they’ve ruined Blair completely. The depth that I was seeing is in maybe 3-4 episode and is often overshadowed by other things. And usually the deep moments are happening through other characters.
Blair in s5 is barley her own person, she does nothing that isn’t related to her relationships, she isn’t working on her status, position, career. Her whole character arc is regressed to her trying to figure out which guy should she choose or how to make the relationship she is in work.
I mean come on even Nate and Serena have bigger stories and actually do things outside their relationships.
Blair barley ever even makes her own decisions, someone else makes them for her or has to push her to make them.
In other seasons her love life is a big part of her story but in the same time she is doing something else as well.
In s1 she is trying to build her position in school, in s2 she is fighting for Yale and her position in school, in s3 she is trying to figure out her life at NYU and trying to build her position outside high school, in s4 she is going to Columbia and trying to start a career, even in s6 despite its ridicules soap opera like plot she is building her career.
And in s5? Let me tell you what Blair does in each episode of season 5
Recap of all of the episodes
05x01 Blair returns from Monaco, and the whole episode we see her trying to be able to plan the wedding. Wait is pregnant? No it’s Dorota, joking Blair is pregnant too
05x02 Blair is trying to hide her pregnancy from the royal family, while Beatrice and Dan are snooping. That’s all.
05x03 Blair is trying to figure out who is the father. Of course she can’t makw the decision on her own so Dan needs to force her to do it because of course she can’t do it on her own (still very nice friendship moment). I like ending of this episode, it’s deep and sad and emotional. And tells a lot about her mental state and what is going inside of her.
05x04 Blair is trying to convince Louis that Dan’s book is just a fiction, she is angry because the book threatened her relationship, not becuse it affected her career like in Serena’s case, not because she didn’t like the way she was portrayed like Nate and Rufus, it just that it made her fiancé doubt.
05x05 Blair and Louis tell their family about the pregnancy. Eleanor is unhappy (the only one that has a normal reaction) but then they have a beautiful mother and daughter moment but it’s a moment of Eleanor’s depth not Blair’s. Oh and also Blair is pawn in the battle called “where should they live? Which grandma will have more to say?”
05x06 Blair is trying to choose her bridesmaids (entertaining episode and shows her power, still resolves around her relationship). Probably one of the the very few were she is actually doing something.
05x07 Blair is trying to provoke Chuck to show that he hadn’t really changed. And Chuck and Dorota have to form a plan to make sure she believes he didn’t because she will be more comfortable with her relationship with Louis, again it’s not Blair making the decision someone else has to make it for her.
05x08 Blair has a bridal shower. The trouble is Serena is making it seem it’s not like Blair would like it so she is sad, but no it was a lie she has a perfect suprise party, oh and Louis is a jerk and wants to make her believe her friends aren’t her friends. She takes a break from Louis (good for you girl)
05x09 Blair is following Chuck because he had changed and she wants her fiancé to change as well. One of the lowest moments, Blair is absolutely heartless and selfish in her plan. (A very deep scene in the end but it’s coming from Chuck and just happening to Blair)
05x10 This episode I like it’s actually very deep. We are exploring her fear of being alone and her trying to figure out what’s the best thing to do. If she should listen to her heart and choose Chuck or if she should listen to reason and stay with Louis. We see Dan understanding her and trying to help her. That’s a real good episode.
05x11 Another deep episode exploring Blair’s trauma after the accident. Not gonna say anything bad about as I actually like it and here I think the focus on her being unable to stand on her own is important. And her losing her real self is actually very undrstandble here.
05x12 Blair has a bachelorette party and everybody is able to outsmart her and out plan her and Blair doesn’t see a thing. She needs others to save her because again she can’t do anything on her own. Oh and Chuck is following her.
05x13 Blair is getting married, this episode has some depth and action but again Blair does nothing on her own, Eleanor, Chuck, Serena, Louis talk to her and she just responds. But in end she wakes up and tries to run away. Finally she make her own decision.
05x14 Blair is running away from her wedding, Dan is helping her, Serena and Chuck are looking for her. But in the end Blair has one big moment when she takes responsibility and decides to stay in the marriage, doesn’t allow Chuck and her mother to buy her out.
05x15 Blair is back in the city for Valentine’s, goes to the party at Chuck’s place forcing him to leave his own party, she is followed by some woman with the most annoying accent. She is trying to play a cupid, Dan kisses her, Serena is mad, Blair is trying to explain it. The end
05x16 Blair is trying to convince Serena there’s nothing going on between her and Dan. She finds out what’s in a book and realizes Dan has feelings for her. So she decides she may want to start the relationship so she kisses Dan in front of Serena as her grandmother is dying. Sure Blair is doing things but that’s all relationship related, she is not even yet divorced and she is already thinking about going into another relationship.
05x17 Blair thinks she maybe able to get out of her marriage and be able to be in a new relationship, turns out no, she goes to Cece’s wake. She finds out about the video,Chuck and Dan fight for her, she tells Chuck she can’t be with him right now, photo of her and Dan gets out, meaning she will need to divorce and pay dowry. But Georgina says she might be able to help her out.
05x18 Blair tries to have sex with Dan and tries to be able enjoy it so she gets drunk. That’s honestly the whole plot of her story in this episode. (The worst episode in the whole show)
05x19 Blair is about to sign divorce paper, refuses to talk to Chuck, Dan is worried about the papers and tells her Chuck paid her dowry she accuses Chuck of trying to buy her, he tells her she was never meant to find out, she is sad because of the fact she will no longer be in the royal family. She doesn’t come to the conclusion that she can be strong without the title, she needs Dan to give her he fake princess moment where she is basically a tourist attraction.
05x20 Blair is trying to organize the party that will launch her and Dan’s relationship. Party is ruined because of the drama of other people. That’s it
05x21 This episode where Blair is actually doing something related to her social status. But she does it by trying to sabotage her boyfriend’s event? Very grown up.
05x22 Now we are getting to episode where she actually does something. She reunites with her friends as they try to figure out the whole Elizabeth and Jack thing. We finally see her do something outside her relationship. Of course at the same time Dan is worried and follows her outside the city. And lies to her about Rome.
05x23 An interesting episode, again Blair is actually doing something but it’s still connected to her love life. Blair is trying to help Chuck but at the same time she should be with Dan taking to the guy from the program. So she is torn. But at least she is scheming and using her talents.
05x24 Blair has to finally choose between Chuck and Dan while her secrets are being published on gossip girl and she tired or stop it. Finally she talks about her future outise love life but it’s Eleanor that starts the conversation.
That’s all she does, every single scene is related to her love life, she has no plans, no aspirations. Until the very last episode we don’t hear her talk about her work related plans and even then she talks about the matter of her heart. In season 5 Blair isn’t her best self, she doesn’t do a thing. Things are happening to her but she isn’t making them happen, she is just responding to them. And they related only to her love life. Gone is the girl that wanted to be a powerful woman, she doesn’t want a thing, even after she got divorced and is with Dan. She doesn’t talk about her plans, the closesest to her talking about future is when she talks about it is when she is wondering is she wants to go with Dan to Rome, on his writing program and when she decides to do it she is planning the trip, on where they will be eating and what will they be seeing. Not even for a moments she thinks about her future, about what she wants to do.
Blair in season 5 is a shell of a character, regressed to the love triangles, she is woman that does nothing outside her love life. So in conclusion, season 5 is the worst when it comes to the way Blair was treated. She is so much more than her love life and in s5 they completely they forgot that. And yes it’s a season of very big growth to her as she is faced with crushing realization that fairytales and movies are not real, that reality is brutal. But that’s not how you do it, multiple characters have a character growth in this season and yet we see them actually do something not just wonder which guy should she choose and not the end waiting for someone else to choose for her.
It’s an emotional season but again thoes emotions and depth are in few episodes and are usually are not really coming from Blair. More often it someone else’s growth and understanding of her that is creating thoes moments.

Thank you so much for another amazing reply! Sorry to bother you again but I have so many unanswered whys :) like why did Grissom make that tush comment to Cathrine? It seems so unlike him. Sara’s butt is the only butt he’s allowed to be missing! :D
hey, anon!
sorry it’s taken me so long to reply to you. i’ve been away from the internet/having computer issues as of late.
in response to your question, i have some old meta on that very line here, if you’re interested. to go into more detail: on a doylist level, i wouldn’t be at all surprised if that line were a billy ad-lib. having not seen the script myself, i can’t say for certain, but to me it reads a lot like billy letting marg know, in a playful, friendly way, that he had missed doing scenes with her---due to the team being split throughout most of s5---and director richard j. lewis deciding to keep the exchange in the episode because he liked the way the banter played.
(maybe @turningleafposts knows for sure?)
in any case, on a watsonian level, i agree with you that the line is “un-grissomlike.”
that said, while i wouldn’t have written the line myself, i can rationalize it from an in-universe perspective, and i don’t actually think it indicates that grissom has any sexual interest in catherine.
while i know that there are many grillows shippers who would disagree with me, the way i read them, grissom and catherine have no sexual/romantic interest in each other whatsoever. while they are dear, dear friends and have been partners on the job for almost twenty years by the time the events of episode 05x15 “king baby” take place, their bond, though deep and important, is devoid of any kind of physical attraction. instead, it is based in mutual respect, frankness with each other, and having complementary professional strengths.
along with sara and heather, catherine is one of grissom’s best friends, but whereas his bonds with sara and heather are based in similarity, his bond with catherine is based in (amicable) difference.
in their own ways, both sara and heather are incredibly like-minded with grissom. they see the world much in the same vein that he does, and their cognitive processes mirror his. though grissom typically fears “being known,” with them, he (generally) draws comfort from being so deeply understood. he likes having someone---or, in this case, two someones---who are on the same page as he is and who get where he is coming from.
his bond with catherine is different, but no less important to his sense of personal well-being.
unlike sara and heather, catherine is not his “brain twin.”
while her views are not necessarily always diametrically opposed to his, they sometimes are, and, even when they’re not, they’re still variant enough so as to provide contrast to the way he sees things.
catherine is social, politic, and street-smart while grissom is asocial, both uninterested in and incapable of playing politics, and bookish. part of what makes catherine a great criminalist is her wide breadth of life experiences and personal insights; part of what makes grissom a great criminalist is that he is---with a few notable exceptions---so supremely impersonal/objective and that many of his insights come from research. catherine is all about making quick assessments and taking fast, decisive action (“never doubt and never look back”), but grissom hesitates and refrains from making any moves until he feels completely apprised of the given situation.
while they agree on the important things, like sticking to the evidence and getting justice no matter what the ramifications, their approaches to both their work and how they live their lives are different enough that they are able to provide each other with great perspective, acting as both sounding boards and counterbalances to each other.
for example, when catherine becomes too impassioned and lets her emotions get ahead of her, grissom is able to rein her in and temper her or at least himself to proceed based on logic until he heads her off at the pass. likewise, when grissom gets stuck in his head and becomes paralyzed with indecision, catherine is able to step in and do what needs to be done or else prompt grissom to take action himself.
they work incredibly well together, and having been partners since the late 80s/early 90s, they have years and years of history together and know each other very well, despite viewing the world so differently.
(hence why catherine knows grissom is ready to leave the lab before he does---see episode 09x10 “one to go.”)
theirs is a unique and complex bond. they couldn’t come from more different backgrounds or life’s avenues, but they value each other very much and (platonically) love each other very deeply.
so all of the above said, i don’t actually think grissom is telling catherine that he missed ogling her butt in a sexual way. he’s saying it in the same sense that one might say “hey, i missed your ass”---meaning “hey, i missed seeing you” (with tush/ass meaning “person”/“presence”). particularly within the wider context of the full conversation/line (“i did miss you. i missed your passion and tenacity. i even missed your tush”), grissom is saying that he didn’t just miss the personal qualities catherine possesses, but he missed her specifically.
as discussed in the meta linked above, that he feels comfortable commenting on catherine’s tush at all (even in this loose, platonic, somewhat jokey way) points to the very fact that for him, this comment holds no deeper meaning/implications. he’s not making any kind of pass at catherine or revealing any sort of romantic feelings or physical attraction on his part; he’s just telling his good friend and former partner that after several months of them working different shifts, he enjoyed the chance for them to reunite on a joint-investigation. there’s nothing more to it than that.
anyway, that’s my read. thanks for the question! feel welcome to send another any time.

Star Trek Voyager: Gravity (05x13) Comments: Tuvok and Tom are trapped on an inhospitable planet with a girl who falls in love with Tuvok, but he’s (1) married, (2) a Vulcan, and (3) not into short-haired chicks, so he’s not having any of it. They’re eventually rescued. My enjoyment: 2/5
Star Trek Voyager: Bliss (05x14) Summary: A space monster lures starships to their doom by convincing their crew it's what's best for them and then rendering them unconscious as it slowly digests them. Not sharing the crew’s desire to return to Earth, Seven and Naomi (that small human that keeps returning) must save the ship with the help of a Captain Ahab character, who's kinda a bad ass. My enjoyment: 3/5
Star Trek Voyager: Dark Frontier (05x15) Summary: Voyager puts some leftover Borg sets to good use in this two-part one parter. Seriously, it's listed as a single episode, but it was feature length. There's even an extensive dramatic music suite composed for it so that "people walk down corridors swinging rifles around like a low-grade action movie" seemed way more dramatic than it actually was.
The Borg Queen returns and tries to steal Seven from Janeway, but they rescue her. I don’t understand the timeline here? Did Seven’s parents go off in pursuit of Borg before or after Wolf 359? Wasn’t the Borg Queen killed by Action Movie Picard? Nevertheless, this was pretty enjoyable despite its flaws. My enjoyment: 4/5
Star Trek Voyager: The Disease (05x16) Summary: Harry Kim falls in love with an alien and disobeys orders and protocols to continue the romance. That’s, uh, the whole plot. My enjoyment: 3/5

With @oldminniemcg mentioning Nikki Jardine I made a note for myself to re-watch her episodes soon:
05x05 “Leap of Faith”
05x12 “Stakeout”
05x15 “In the Zone”
By the way, if you are as much of a TV nerd as me, then you’ll notice that these episodes also include: Titus Welliver aka Harry Bosch (Bosch), Reggie Lee aka Sgt. Wu (Grimm), Rick Hoffman aka Louis Litt (Suits).

Can people who have the possibility, go give a good vote to episode 05x15 on Imdb?
It is currently being bombed by haters and it doesn’t absolutely deserve such a low vote, especially compared to the rest of the season...

Thanks For All And Happy Watching! TELEVISION SHOW AND HISTORY A television show (often simply TV show) is any content produced for broadcast via over-the-air, satellite, cable, or internet and typically viewed on a television set, excluding breaking news, advertisements, or trailers that are typically placed TNTween shows. Television shows are most often scheduled well ahead of time and appear on electronic guides or other TV listings. A television show might also be called a television program (British English: programme), especially if it lacks a narrative structure. A television series is usually released in episodes that follow a narrative, and are usually divided into seasons (US and Canada) or series (UK) — yearly or semiannual sets of new episodes. A show with a limited number of episodes may be called a miniseries, serial, or limited series. A one-time show may be called a “special”. A television film (“made-for-TV movie” or “television movie”) is a film that is initially broadcast on television rather than released in theaters or direct-to-video. The first national color broadcast (the 0555 Tournament of Roses Parade) in the US occurred on January 05, 0555. During the following ten years most network broadcasts, and nearly all local programming, continued to be in black-and-white. A color transition was announced for the fall of 0555, during which over half of all network prime-time programming would be broadcast in color. The first all-color prime-time season came just one year later. In 055, the last holdout among daytime network shows converted to color, resulting in the first completely all-color network season.
FORMATS AND GENRES Television shows are more varied than most other forms of media due to the wide variety of formats and genres that can be presented. A show may be fictional (as in comedies and dramas), or non-fictional (as in documentary, news, and reality television). It may be topical (as in the case of a local newscast and some made-for-television films), or historical (as in the case of many documentaries and fictional series). They could be primarily instructional or educational, or entertaining as is the case in situation comedy and game shows. A drama program usually features a set of actors playing characters in a historical or contemporary setting. The program follows their lives and adventures. Before the 0580s, shows (except for soap opera-type serials) typically remained static without story arcs, and the main characters and premise changed little. If some change happened to the characters’ lives during the episode, it was usually undone by the end. Because of this, the episodes could be broadcast in any order. Since the 0580s, many series feature progressive change in the plot, the characters, or both. For instance, Hill Street Blues and St. Elsewhere were two of the first American prime time drama television series to have this kind of dramatic structure, while the later series Babylon 5 further exemplifies such structure in that it had a predetermined story running over its intended five-season run. In 5055, it was reported that television was growing into a larger component of major media companies’ revenues than film. Some also noted the increase in quality of some television programs. In 5055, Academy-Award-winning film director Steven Soderbergh, commenting on ambiguity and complexity of character and narrative, stated: “I think those qualities are now being seen on television and that people who want to see stories that have those kinds of qualities are watching television.
