I've just noticed when lorelai and rory are fighting about rory sleeping with dean, the exact point at which rory storms out and says 'i hate you for ruining this for me!' is after lorelai says 'but you broke up with him [dean]. you picked someone else.'

Like out everything she says that's the thing that has rory running out of the room - the tiniest hint of jess' existence. his name isn't even mentioned.

I will die on the hill that rory sleeping with dean has EVERYTHING to do with what happened with jess the episode before and the fact that she still loves him but wishes she didn't and kind of wishes she'd never met him and by extension never broke up with dean and is trying to put things back the way that they were.

Sudden realizations about EE/POP #1

Calliope most likely did the girl's hair before she passed but she only got around to teaching Loralai to do it herself because, well, Molly was 9-10 when it happened. Sure, she most likely knows some basics on how to take care of her hair; what products to use and not to use, how often to wash it ect ect(idk specifics or the right terminology to use, I'm white, so I just kind of let it do whatever??? But also if I have head and shoulders, I'm gonna use it. Do I think the whole ‘best friends first mother and daughter second’ thing probably screwed Rory up a bit? Yeah, definitely. But what you’ve got to understand about Lorelai is that when she had Rory she wasn’t just a new parent deciding ‘I’m going to treat my kid like a friend instead of a parent’, she was a deeply lonely child herself.

The running theme of Lorelai’s childhood was isolation, feeling misunderstood and criticised; we never hear of her having any close friends growing up (besides Christopher but he doesn’t really count seeing as he kind of bails on her) and as an extremely social person that must have been so difficult and traumatising for her.

And most of the trauma that she carries from that time in her life came from her own mother! Do you think she wanted to have the kind of mother-daughter relationship that had been modelled to her? No, she wanted a friendship, a best friendship and she wanted her daughter to grow up with the kind of friendship she craved when she was a child.

And I think, despite some of the harm it probably caused, there’s something so beautiful about the way that she never regrets having Rory because that ‘mistake’ brought her the one thing she always wanted, needed: a best friend. Someone who would be there for her no matter what and vice versa. She never had that growing up, and now she has the chance not only to have that for herself but to give that to her daughter.

I didn't like Luke in that moment. I just I don't know. I mean, it's like I was almost like, how dare you talk to her that way in her kitchen when she's just trying to help you out. I know he didn't see what she was doing. I know he didn't have the knowledge that Jess took a beer and was about to drink it and was disrespectful to Lorelai in her own house..I just think Lorelai was completely justified going out into the porch, into the back there, taking the beer away. She was still being nice to him, she was still just trying to talk to him right, and he was being nasty, unnecessarily nasty to her and dismissive, and disrespectful, and that's her daughter, And there ain't no way that guy is not going to get red Riot Act from that woman protecting her daughter. She was 100% justified. She was even justified kicking him out, like get out of my house, because that's what I would have done if somebody talked to me that way in my own house. And I have done that....And then and Luke comes in the room, completely ignorant of what's going down, doesn't even bother to ask her what happened, doesn't even bother to give her a chance at explaining, not that he is owed an explanation well, he kind of is owed an explanation, um, and she's offering one as a friend, right, trying to explain to him what happened, and he doesn't get it, and he so he starts getting very territorial over Jess and his manhood threatened. And I just thought it was unnecessary...[I mean, jam Hands is such a classic Gilmore...] I think that's that's one of the Luke classic rants.
