Lane has fled and Luke is God knows where and Jess figures Babette and Patty are about to bustle in for brunch and goss, and what else the fuck is he supposed to do with Liz except escort her up to the apartment?

He’s spinning out. Liz in Stars Hollow. His mother, in his town. It feels apocryphal, in spite of the photographic evidence he once found at the bottom of a pile of William’s Hardware detritus: teenage Liz and Luke at the Gazebo, Liz at Stars Hollow High in Jess’s math classroom, Liz with a parcel of girls her age, all cobalt eyeshadow and Aquanet fumes, Liz in a fuschia taffeta monstrosity, sandwiched between her parents. Seeing the set of William’s shoulders and the slant of his brow made Jess feel like looking into a funhouse mirror or a crystal ball. Behold thy future.

“Have a seat,” the autopilot feature of his brain says. “Do you want, uh, coffee? Or tea?”

“No caffeine for me,” Liz chirps. She rummages into the giant bag slung over her shoulder and pulls out a slightly crushed, bright pink box. “But I’d love some tea!” She passes the box to him.

“Tea. Sure.”

He busies himself with setting their ancient kettle to boil, reading the box of tea in desperate dissociation – Also known as holy basil, the label informs him, tulsi is a sacred plant for many in India and may have anti-inflammatory properties – and tries not to notice Liz drinking everything in around the apartment. His skin prickles when she lightly runs her fingers over his bookshelf; it takes a titanic effort not to blurt out “Don’t!” when she plucks Rory’s copy of Krik? Krak! off the shelf, but he still holds his breath until she puts it down.

He fills a mug for them both (not that he’ll drink, his stomach’s shrunk to a walnut, equally shriveled) and clears his throat. “It’s ready,” he says.

“Great!” She comes over to the table and drops into the chair Jess usually sits in – it hits him like electroshock. He wordlessly sits down in Luke’s chair.

Liz blows the steam from the top of the mug, then takes a scalding sip. “Perfect. Have you tried tulsi before?”

“Never,” he answers truthfully.

“Oh, it’s lifechanging. If you like it I’ll send you some.”

“Okay.”

They sit, Liz drinks, and Jess spirals.

Many of us have and do struggle with gender and identity, and no one can deny that it's a very isolating, confusing, and sometimes painful experience. Many of us have lost (and eventually gained new) family and friends, and taking any kind of step toward expressing your true self (or selves) can be one of the most terrifying things you ever do.

Debates over psychology should never matter when it comes to other, complicated issues. We're not talking syscourse right now, that's backseat to the discussion of gender identity, and while the topic is certainly complicated by systemhood, I don't think syscourse should divide us in other areas where we all stand together.

This blog supports anyone exploring their gender.

Whether you're pro or anti endo, it doesn't matter, I wish all of you safety and happiness in your self discoveries.

This post is very surface and doesn't cover the extreme nuance to these conversations, but I just wanted to throw something good out there, since she was so open in her recent post.

Um, look, idk if you know this already, and if you do you probably don’t care, but some of your content seems to be promoting fat fetishization which is a very harmful depiction of plus sized people. I would like to point out that there’s nothing wrong with drawing canonically stick-like characters with some chunk, I honestly do it myself and it helps denote the harmful stereotype of everyone being one size. But you’ve taken something (being plus sized) that is usually out of people’s control and you are giving it very sexual undertones which is just…not good, you know? Again, just ignore me if you’re unconcerned with this, I know I don’t get to decide what people do and don’t post, but if you didn’t know and do care, I just want to let you know because I really enjoy your other content.

When the hell was someone’s weight not inherently their choice (more on this in replies), and when did I try to explicitly post sexual content of them here??? Dear lord lmao.

This isn’t the first time either that I got asked something like this and it’s kinda just sad. Most people assume that if the character isn’t drawn in a ‘conventionally’ attractive way, then immediately it’s going to be labeled as fetish content, but if I really wanted to go out of my way to do THAT, then I wouldn’t be anywhere near as careful with things like positioning and clothing choice on certain pieces.

I think the worst thing I could’ve done is maybe draw someone with a shirt that’s a bit too small, but is that inherently sexual? I dunno, I guess you can be the judge of that.

I won’t stop posting what I like to post though, especially when my skinny/buff art does NOT get the same “this is a fetish” treatment. That’s just not fair.
