Yoyo! Could I get something with Cyrus and him having an obvious crush on a very elegant and dexterous party member! It's sad how little fics there are for my boy!
I have more Cyrus in my drafts, so be keep a lookout for when he graces my blog once more!
~ Poet
Crushing on the Reader
Cyrus
Cyrus first saw you when you were seated beside his brother in the theatre in Jrusar. You had a confident air about you that screamed the elegance and finery that he's so desperately attracted to and misses dearly from life before he started adventuring.
When Dorian finally introduced him to Bell's Hells, Cyrus greeted and nodded in respect to the others, apologising again and again for being an idiot and complicating things.
But the moment you offered him your name and held out your hand, he swiped it up and pressed an obnoxiously long kiss to the back of it.
He immediately regretted the gesture, face and ears tinged with a purple blush, mindful of Dorian's facepalm and his friends' sour looks, but you simply laughed and waved his worries away.
When the party came across him at the ball, he was standing at the edge of the dance floor on his tippy toes and trying to catch a glance of you in the crowd in your fancy attire. He never got the chance to chase after you and ask for a dance but whatcanyoudo there were baddies to fight, you were a bit preoccupied
You volunteered to leave Marquet with the two brothers and help reunite Dorian with the Crown Keepers - gods know how much the Wyvernwinds need someone to stop their bickering.
Cyrus spent the entire trip trying to impress and get to know the object of his newfound affections, pestering his brother for info about you - if you were single, what's your tragic but deep backstory, if you have a thing for royalty, if your favourite colour is blue etc etc.
He's stuck to your side like glue when you guys make contact with Dariax, Opal and Fy'ra Rai. They don't like him and think he's trouble (a theme he's getting used to), but you actually tolerate and make an effort to include him.
You impress the heir again and again with your skills and ease in stressful situations. You have the charm of a noble, nimble fingers to swipe important objects without being seen, you can open pretty much any lock by barely touching it, and can dodge an arrow as if it was nothing.
Oohs and ahhs and heart eyes galore, cheering you on at the sideline and scowling whenever someone calls him out on it.
Dorian continuously wants to curl up into a ball and have the ground swallow him whole bc his older brother is embarrassing himself in front of you and his other friends.
He's grateful that you can get through to his sibling though - Cyrus is not as an experienced traveler or warrior or mage as everyone else, so under your guidance hopefully he will get more accustomed to life on the road and the people you come across.
Dorian still gets grossed out when Cyrus clumsily flirts with you tho. Baby brother energy, y'know~

there's an indescribable amount of pure joy i get watching liam in the crown keepers campaign — his reactions to all the familiar things, not familiar to orym but to liam himself. his happy smile at ashley when sherri was described, his content sigh when gilmore said he was married and overall just gentle look in his eyes during this whole segment, his quick smile when aabria mentioned syngorn and heart grab followed by an exaggerated fall under the table when they arrived to byroden is just precious to me. this man needs to be protected at all costs.

The deep hilarity of Patia and Laerryn witnessing someone narrowly avoiding an assassination because of Loquatius (and Zerxus), and their first reactions being: "god we can't tell him, he's gonna be insufferable-"

I hope they don't all die.
Specifically, I want Patia to live. I want Patia Por'co, heiress to one of the greatest mages the Age of Arcanum ever produced and to some of the worst wizard hubris going around, to live.
I think it would be so much worse for her to watch her Age, her Age and her shining city in the sky and her magical brilliance that she was so sure would bathe them all in its light forever, crumble into dust and ruin.

Okay so this image from the Calamity teaser
Tumblr media
Is from when the raven queen ascended as a goddess, which implies that ExU: Calamity takes place during that time.
Guys what if one of the PCs plays the future raven queen?
GUYS WHAT IF ITS MARISHA?!?

Okokok so I was just thinking about what kind of character Liam might play if he decides to let Orym stay dead, and I started thinking about some of his other characters, specifically Cinna Brightbow from the beauty pageant in EXU, and suddenly remembered "WILL THE HALFLING LIVE, OR WILL THE HALFLING DIE?!"
I can't tell if the tears in my eyes are from laughing too hard or from pain/lh

The Salvation of Vespin Chloras
This is just a … call it a thread, a hope for the future, a thing I would dearly love to see.
There’s this … thread of thoughts and ideas in Episode 4, between Zerxus and Evandrin, Zerxus and Vespin. The idea of names, and salvation, and not being forgotten.
Evandrin bears Zerxus’ name and promises he will come for him even through damnation. Zerxus tries to redeem Vespin, the action that Evandrin thought beautiful, even though it just damned the world when attempted on Asmodeus. Vespin, in return, buys Zerxus until sunrise on his deal, an action that allows Zerxus to help save the world and partially halt Asmodeus’ plan. While doing so, Vespin mourns that his name, while not forgotten, has been destroyed, and that his fear and need not to be forgotten has damned him. He dies again corrupted, facing Zerxus and the Ring of Brass for the fate of the world, and is taken back to the Hells.
And then, at the very end, when Zerxus has a way out of damnation through death, he chooses not to take it, lets himself fall to where Vespin is, on the hope and belief that Evandrin is coming for him, and that redemption and salvation are there for everyone:
---
Evandrin: I don’t know how deeply you have sacrificed to do what must be done, but I know this. There is no god that strides this world that I worship more than I worship your heart. There is a power beyond that stars that you alone could find, and though you may be his by working of foul magic, I vow this: I bear your name. I bear it on this stone. And one day I will bring you home.
---
Zerxus: I don’t have enough power to help you!
Vespin: It’s all right.
---
Vespin: Do not bother with my name. In the darkness I saw my name would be destroyed, and I asked beyond all things not to be forgotten. And I know the Lord of the Hells will see that wish granted. I thought … I’m a fool. And I brought ruin to the world. Hope that you are forgotten.
---
Zerxus: LAY DOWN YOUR WEAPONS!
Asmodeus: This wasn’t the barg— Oh, how clever! Well. I can always abide by a deal. Let’s see how much you can do with the precious minutes you have left.
---
Brennan: Zerxus, you feel … release. Let me ask you. Your friend Nydas has given you this way out. The words of the Lord of the Hells were sweet and cloying. Does Zerxus take this chance to walk away?
Luis: In his, whatever remains of his consciousness, it’s as if he has a knife to his own throat. But in the back of his mind, he knows, in his heart, that salvation and redemption is there for everyone. And it pulls him right back.
Brennan: You remain within this form. The last thing you see as your body begins to immolate and burn, going to the place where Vespin went, is a griffon made of stars, called back to its feather, bearing on its back a young boy holding a journal.
---
There’s a, there’s a thread here. Someone holding your name. Salvation and redemption being there for everyone. Not being forgotten.
And in light of it, I feel like I want … to imagine a future, years or centuries or even millennia down the line. I want to imagine a devil, a hunched, screeching creature on the plains of the hells. A creature that was once a man, a long time ago. A creature that was once a man again, for one brief, so vanishingly brief second during the end of the world. A creature that managed to help, just enough, to save the world, and has suffered ever since because of it.
I want to imagine this creature being approached by the Champion of Asmodeus, something that almost universally means pain. But this time, for some reason, the champion is without his mace. And there is a strange shadow at his back, almost like another entity, a being of amethyst and starlight, hidden where only the barest corner of the eye can see.
This time, the champion takes him by the shoulders and, uniquely in all the centuries in the hells, it doesn’t hurt. It does something, something strange, something impossible, but it doesn’t hurt.
And then the champion speaks to him, not in Infernal but in a language the creature has not spoken in centuries, and he says:
“Vespin Chloras. You told me once to hope I was forgotten. But I’m not. I never was. And neither are you. Your name wasn’t destroyed, not for me. I want you to remember that. I want you to remember the man who helped me, all those centuries ago. I want you to remember him, and I want you to hold on to him, and I want you to come with me. Hold my hand. Because we are not forgotten. Because there are those who hold my name, and they have come for me, and I do not want to leave this place alone.”
And the shreds remaining are so few, the scattered pieces of the man once called Vespin Chloras, but there are pieces, and in some hidden, forgotten, almost shattered place they find enough fragments of hope to answer.
“What is the bargain? For my soul. What’s the deal?”
And it’s Evandrin who tells him, very gently: “No bargains. No deals. You bought my husband an hour, once. An hour to fight for our son, for everything he had been. Everything he is, for I have known from the beginning that he is not lost to me. We offer this freely. Please. Hold on to memory. Hold on to your name. And come with us.”
“Please,” says Zerxus. “I didn’t have the power then to help you, to help either of us. I do now. Salvation is for everyone. Hold your name. Hold my hand. And let me take you with us.”
Because sometimes, even in the darkness, our names are not forgotten. Our names are not destroyed. And salvation is for everyone, no matter what they’ve done, if they have the strength and will to accept it.
I do … rather want to imagine that. Heh.

On my ExU Prime rewatch and I had this thought, what if a person from Niirdal-Poc got shunted away across Exandria, and we know most if not all of the people there have no contact with the outside world.
How would they cope? How would they return home when all they knew was the city without an external sense of localization? What if they only speak the local language!?

asmodeus hissing “you think that you are a man of true belief. who is the most proud man here? these ones who thought they would fly a city, or the man who thought he would teach me a lesson? the only difference between you and the dawnfather is that the dawnfather is a little more humble. now I'll tell you why I spit on your forgiveness. I'll tell you why I loathe your redemption. to reach a hand down to somebody, they need to be beneath you! and I'm beneath nobody. you wanted to understand me. then you should have accepted that I was right!”

I have been listening to the exu playlists and now i miss the crown keepers so here is my silly headcanons about dancing:
Orym is very good at ballet, of course, he is also good in contemporary dance.
Opal dances regueton, salsa, bachata. The best at twerking, jaw dropping.
Dorian is the best in nigthclubs with some drinks in his system. He owns the white girl dance (in universe is call the air genasi dance, of course).
Dariax is the one that beats everyone in just dance and every other dance game. Also the only one that know how to vogue.
Fearne every time she tries to twerk ends with her ass in the floor, but she resist the longer on a moshpit.
Fy'ra Rai dances flamenco and tango (argentinean, of course). Flamenco because i can imagine her dancing to the last song of her playlist. And Tango because i feel like she is very good at following steps and she could be an amazing parther.

So we know that Laerryn figured out how to jump planes and this apparently was unknown by mortals at the time and her success was only blocked by the Tree. We also know of another city that partially jumped to another plane, escaping the Calamity and the fate of the rest of their city and the world (and finding a possibly worse fate)
Now, was Aeor working on plane jumping completely separately from Laerryn on Avalir—a rival city that didn't seem to trade tech or knowledge with them—and at the same time as their God killing super weapon program? Or was there a trade secret leak right at the beginning of the Calamity? One that there would be no outcry over plagiarism or copyright due to world ending events?
There can be only one answer...
Bolo.

A creature with truesight perceives the original form of a creature that has been transformed with magic. An exalted Circlet of Barbed Vision would give Opal permanent truesight.
So yes, I am very interested in seeing Opal and a centuries older Zerxus meet in the present day.

(ID: A fairly minimalist digital drawing of Avalir, a floating city with featureless, pastel buildings and a waterfall in the center. The sky behind it fades from light blue at the bottom to dark blue and starry at the top. At the peak of the city is Learryn, a black elf woman, with her back to the viewer, reaching one hand up. In the foreground, pink flower petals drift past. In the center is purple text which reads “It was always about reaching.” End ID.)
Y’all it’s nearly 4:30 am here but this quote would not leave me alone. Because yeah, that’s it. That’s what the whole calamity, the entire age of arcanum, arguably every game of dnd ever, is about. Reaching. So enjoy this very hasty art while I go to bed.
