La importancia de las Polaroids para las modelos y agencias.

Se suele decir que las "Polaroids" son las imágenes más importantes que puedes tener en tu porfolio. No es que deban ser las únicas, pero sí que son imprescindibles. Su nombre viene de la propia de cámara creada en 1947 por la empresa estadounidense Polaroid con la que, desde mediados del siglo XX en adelante, se tomaban imágenes de las modelos que mostraran su aspecto más natural, libre de maquillaje, estilismo, fondos e incluso poses que puediesen acompañar a una sesión de editorial.

Son pues fotografías que muestran a una agencia, potencial cliente, diseñador o fotógrafo, cómo se ve la modelo o el modelo actualmente y sin artificios. Hoy en día se hacen con cámaras digitales y pueden recibir otros nombres como digitals, polas...pero con "polaroid" es suficiente.

Estas imágenes son parte crucial del trabajo como modelo y es muy recomendable que se hagan, al menos, dos veces al año y siempre que haya un cambio de look, ya que las agencias y clientes deben saber el estado actual y la "materia prima" en estado puro con la que, eventualmente, van a trabajar.

¿Y qué me pongo para la sesión de “polaroids”?

Como ya hemos dicho tienes que destacar “tú natural” sobre todo lo demás, por ello se utilizan fondos blancos, iluminación sencilla, sin maquillaje, ropa de un solo color, preferiblemente negro para las fotos de ropa interior y camiseta blanca y vaqueros para el outfit. A los hombres habrá que tomarles en ropa interior sin camiseta. Es bueno usar zapatos de tacón para no encorvarse, lo verás en muchas polaroids.

En cuanto al posado, será sencillo, sin grandes dibujos. Ten en cuenta que habrá que hacer fotos de perfil, frontales, traseras, de cuerpo entero, plano americano y primer plano.

El rostro puede mostrar expresiones como la sonrisa, la frialdad, la calidez, pero con un par de o tres es suficiente, pues demuestra que eres capaz de moverte en distintos registros (a menos que el fotógrafo/a o alguien de la agencia te indique algo diferente). Debes mirar a la cámara.

Nada de complementos en el rostro, pendientes, etc... Peinado natural. Se debe ver hasta las orejas, pero mejor sin coleta, para ver el pelo y su caída natural.

Si no tienes hechas las “polaroids” son las primeras que te harán en la agencia y, si las tienes hechas, recuerda que deben estar actualizadas antes de presentarlas.

El número de instantáneas andará entre 12 y 15 y no serán retocadas, aunque sí pueden ser editadas de forma general para, por ejemplo darles más luz o cambiarlas blanco y negro, por ejemplo. Pero NADA DE RETOQUE.
